They already announced they were going to revert this change weeks ago when Chucky was released? Idk why you're that surprised.

I didn’t see it then. I don’t keep up with dbd news every single day, my apologies. I’d still like an explanation for how they said it was too strong before but now suddenly it’s not?

  • @NomiNomad said:

Feedback from the nerf was immediately bad. At least that's what I remember, they announced it basically the day the Chucky DLC came out.

Of course it’s gonna be bad from killer mains. But if BHVR decided it was too strong in endgame, how is it not too strong still?

  • I asked about this a couple weeks ago. Mandy replied and said that they’re still analyzing the data from the tests and they will let us know once they come to a decision on it.

The crucial thing missing from this rundown though, is that those things warranted nerfs. The complaints those received were not the primary reason that they got addressed- the reason for the complaints was also the primary reason they got nerfed; they were too strong.

That's why it's wrong to imply that a couple people complaining about Sprint Burst means that Sprint Burst will be nerfed. In the past however many patches, I can only think of a single perk that was complained about and subsequently nerfed that didn't warrant it, and that's not exactly a convincing precedent on its own.

Fair point and I think the idea of nerfs being warranted depends on who you ask, but again nerfs don’t usually happen until the complaints come in. Medkits were the way they were for years until a sudden influx of complaints about them came through then that’s when they got looked at. Were they too strong? Possibly depending on who you ask but nothing was done UNTIL they became widely complained about. DH got its first nerf and killers were happy with it until survivors learned to adapt and use it in a different way. As soon as they learned to use it suddenly it became an issue again, the complaints went back up and it got its second nerf.

I get what you’re saying and yes you can say “well those nerfs are warranted because they were too strong” but the fact remain that until people complain that it’s too strong, the nerfs don’t happen. Because why would they? If no one is complaining then the devs have no reason to look at them outside of their initial release really. They’re focused on pumping out new chapters every 3 months.

And now who’s to say that sprint burst isn’t too strong? I think you’re correct that 1-2 people complaining isn’t gonna do much but I’ve seen plenty of people complaining about sprint burst on here before MFT hit and after DH got it’s second nerf. Now with MFT about to be gone, if sprint burst increases in usage I think it’s very possible that it will start to be the new complaint perk and headed for a nerf.

We’re already seeing that with complaints about windows because it’s the number one used survivor perk, it’s “too strong” despite the fact that there are counters to it (blindness perks) and there’s a killer version of it available in zanshin tactics.

  • @jesterkind said:

Personally speaking, I don't like either of the implications this post makes.

I don't like the implication that complaints necessarily lead to nerfs, and I don't like the implication that survivors only have a handful of perks worth using. Neither of those things are true and I don't think we achieve anything by acting like they are.

Some people are just gonna complain about whatever perks annoy them the most, it doesn't really mean anything's going to be done about it.

I think it’s a bit disingenuous to suggest that complaining about perks does not lead to nerfs. People have been complaining about MFT on this forum for months, the same way they did about DH, COH, medkits and after months of complaints they all got or are getting nerfs. Same as what happened with eruption.

Obviously one persons complaints about a perk that they want nerfed because they got outplayed by it isn’t going to get much. But it’s obvious that the community feedback, especially here on the official forum, is going to be seen and considered to make changes. Especially when the feedback/complaints are constant and consistent. Otherwise why ask us for our feedback when they drop PTBs and stuff?

Constant complaints do have power here whether we want to admit it or not.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/392098/why-should-killers-play-nice-and-fair

    It depends on the situation:

If they use map offerings, last second swap, tbag, and do other stuff like that, well, then I won't hesitate to tunnel the entire match.

If they don't and play chill, no reason to, unless you're going for streaks or want to end the match fast.

    Nevermind

  • Survivors shouldn’t use any perks or items. They should go into matches naked so that all killers can 4K with ease and zero challenge. 🤣

  • MFT also isn’t strong unless you’re a strong looper as a survivor. You cannot simply hold W with it and just run the killer all match. Lmao

Im a horrible looper and I’ve gone down so much when running MFT because it does not prevent the killer from catching up to you because they’re still faster. It’s just hard when you go against really good loopers and run it.

  • @appleas said:

There is no proper counterplay to it. Against flashlights, a killer could equip lightborn. Against Aura reading perks, a Survivor could run Distortion or Calm Spirit against Ultimate Weapon.

Apart from STBFL with multiple stacks which lessens the impact of this combo, there is no counter to it.

You admit in your post there is a counter in STBFL. Just because it may not have the strength that you want it to have does not equal no counter.

No. Using a legit phone number to play should never happen. Games are not that important. My son tried to switch consoles for overwatch and because he had the same number was unable too. Support closed his ticket without any help. His only option would've been changing his number and there is no way anyone should have to do that for a video game especially when that number is tied to 2fa from banking to pretty much everything these days.

Phone number requirement for gaming should never become a practice.

I think it sounds like a good idea. Sounds like you don’t want phone numbers used because of the inconvenience it caused your son. I’d rather people be slightly inconvenienced if it got rid of cheaters ruining games constantly.

you say “games are not that important” but clearly they’re important enough to you that you don’t want anything that could cause the slightest inconvenience to your gaming experience.

I love when MandyTalk described it as a circle. It's important to remember that cheating is an ongoing battle in any online game, and Dead by Daylight is no exception: There is a never-ending arms race between game developers and cheat makers to find and fix new vulnerabilities.

This is very true. People will always find ways to cheat in any game but I do think having a system/software that actually works most of the time is still helpful and EAC just doesn’t seem to be doing anything. Just my opinion.

  • @Mooks said:

I mean, even if TikTok did anything, those people would still be able to cheat in-game. It would just affect their account on TikTok?

BHVR is probably unable to do anything as they do not have access to the cheaters account whatsoever - the in-game name is not unique after all and the cheaters will be not so dumb to actually show their BHVR id..

This is true but getting their TikTok account banned for streaming cheating means they can’t stream themselves cheating and get money/donations anymore. You have to have 1K followers to stream on TikTok so losing that account and having to start over would definitely be a hindrance to them.

We might as well crackdown family houses and give parental advice.

I’m not sure how you got this from anything I said but let me try again. BHVR mods themselves have told people on here snd steam that if we see people streaming themselves cheating to report it to the platform that they’re cheating on. I did that on TikTok who actually has a report option that says “reporting cheating in a video game.” Every time I’ve reported it they replied with “no violation.”

This mod replied that they can’t do anything more outside of the actual game which is why I asked about getting a better anti cheat system than EAC which is known to be garbage, which is why it got the nickname “Easy Access Cheats”. Because that’s obviously the root cause of the issue that their anti-cheat software WHICH ITS ENTIRE PURPOSE IS MEANT TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM BEING ABLE TO CHEAT IN GAME doesn’t work.

Lastly I literally said “Its understandable that you can’t control other platforms” ie it would be ridiculous to think they could control what other platforms do and don’t do.

So please explain to me how you read that and decided that making a snarky comment suggesting that I in any way, was suggesting that they SHOULD try to control other platforms, was the appropriate response? I’ll wait.

  • @Coordi said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3586503#Comment_3586503

We suggest this because unfortunately we cannot control anything that happens outside of Dead by Daylight; I empathize that it is frustrating. It's appreciated that you are taking the time to report these streams to the respective platforms.

That’s understandable that you can’t control other platforms. So now why question is, has BHVR considered finding a different company besides Easy Access Cheats? Because that seems to be where this problem starts, EAC not being able to actually do the job of stopping widespread cheating. All the reporting and banning is just treating the symptom and not the cause.

  • Number is now up to 6 hackers I’ve reported their TikTok lives streaming cheating and TikTok just replies instantly with “no violation”

Im curious what the devs who have told us to report these people on that platform suggest we do now?

  • I played him on the PTB with my controller and I did struggle a bit with being able to turn while using his dash power. But to be fair, that could have to do with my sensitivity or could just be me. Im only one person.

There is a block feature for people that are being outright homophobic/racist/… in end game chat: report them properly and they should get banned and be blocked from being matched with anyone

Where did you get this info from? I’ve not heard that anywhere? I reported the person in game and through a support ticket but never heard anything cuz this was before they implemented the report feedback system. But when I looked at the persons profile again they were still able to play the game.

  • The block feature only keeps them from being able to communicate with you. I agree that I would love to be able to block certain people from my matches, particularly people who have called me homophobic and misogynistic slurs in endgame chat.

Unfortunately this community is so toxic that if people had the ability to block all the toxic people from their matches the queue times would likely be abysmal, so they won’t do it. Also people would likely block people just because they lost the game to them which would also increase queue times is what I’m thinking.

An argument I can see is a player has spent an ungodly amount of time pumping bloodpoints into their favorite character, and wish to flex that for all to see.

Since everyone currently sees the lobby but many ditch the end screen, they may believe they'd loose much of their audience to that flex.

Now if the devs determine with their recent testing that lobby dodging doesn't correlate with the prestiges, then nothing needs to change there. But if the overall playerbase matchmaking suffers because of visible prestiges, well then...

That’s exactly my point. It’s just to feed peoples egos. 🤣🤣 And the funniest part is, no one else cares unless they’ve determined that your prestige somehow may affect them in the match, for example, lonby dodging and targeting/tunneling. IMO that’s not a good enough reason to keep something in the game, even optional, if it’s determined to lead to those behaviors.

  • @TSQuint said:

The late George Carlin said, "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.' It's applicable here because I've been griefed in a match by people assuming something based on their own bad habits and instead of, you know, doing generators, they think it's more important to stand around.

I think the only issue here is there's no way to mitigate that. One of the comments here pointed out that it's not a common enough happening to be looked at.

How would they know though? People saying it doesn’t happen enough to be looked at? Im curious where they get that info from? Because right now it seems like another case of “I don’t see it happen so it doesn’t happen.”

And I’m not saying I have data to show that it happens a majority of the time. Im simply saying can it be something that at least gets looked at? Because whether it happens 100 times or 1000 it’s still ruining the game for other people. Im not asking for it to happen tomorrow just asking if it’s possible for it to happen at all.

  • @Hunkulese said:

You're making this sound like an every day problem when it's more like a once a year problem. There are probably 4762 issues that should be looked at before this one.

Also, if someone wants to heal you, just let them heal you.

ill never stop finding it funny on here how so many people have the viewpoint that “If I haven’t seen it it’s not an issue.”

Also I’m not required to let someone heal me if I don’t think it’s the opportune time to do it in the game. “If you don’t want to be griefed do what your teammates want when they want it” is a really weird take.

Half of the matches end in 5 minutes because with the current balance of power this is quite realistic.

Most likely you made up this story, otherwise the complaints about the players would have been taken into account and with the systematic repetition of such actions the problem would have been solved.

Your last comment is simply rude, does not contribute to any discussion and you have no evidence of it. I’m lying because why exactly? I already said I report people that do this and I have no clue if anything is done since we just recently got report feedback added to the game but as I said in my OP, it would be better to simply prevent griefing to begin with instead of having it ruin the game and having to report it after.

Accusing someone of lying just for the sake of is really weird not to mention outright rude. Have a good one.

You say I’m making assumptions but if mine are incorrect then what are your reasons for needing it to be necessary to show your prestige in pre-game lobby? What does that do for you that showing it in post game screen won’t do?

Why can’t people “know” that that’s your main in the endgame? Why is it necessary for everyone to know that about you going into the match?

All it takes is a simple search on here, steam and reddit to see that this has been an ongoing complaint for a long time by a large number of people to see that it’s an issue worth addressing, so much so that BHRV themselves beta tested removing prestige from pre-game lobby. So the detriment this brings to the game is not JUST an opinion. There are facts behind whats being said. However I have yet to see you state any facts on how leaving them in the pre-game lobby, even optionally, helps the overall game health. All you’ve said is it makes you feel good to show yours off, so therefore it should stay.

“If lobby dodging is the issue BHVR should fix that” Removing prestige is HOW BHVR fixes that if the lobby dodging is due to preconceptions about players and their skill due to prestige being shown, which a large portion of their feedback has suggested it is, which again is why they beta tested it to begin with.

So far all you’ve said is that it makes you feel good for people to know that you’re playing your main character (again why should people have to know this in pregame lobby or even care for that matter?) and to be able to show off your achievement (again something that can be done post match). You said you enjoy playing your main character. Great. You can still enjoy playing your main without your prestige being shown in pregame lobby, and if you can’t enjoy it without that, then that’s indicative of your reasoning being personal ego based. I.e. “If no one knows I’m a P100 going into the match then it doesn’t make me happy”? or “I can’t enjoy playing my favorite character if others don’t know that it’s my favorite or if they don’t know that I have a full P100.” Is that what you’re saying here?

I fail to see how showing your prestige at the end off the match punishes you in any way, as you’ve suggested. Does not showing it until the end take away your P100 status or negate all the work you put into your character? I’m not aware of that being the case. Yes I do have a P100 character and I grinded that for my own personal satisfaction of knowing that I got my favorite character all the way to the final possible prestige. It’s definitely something I’m proud of, but I don’t have an overarching need for eveyone who plays with me to know this about me BEFORE we go into a match. My badge can be seen perfectly fine at the end.

  • There’s literally zero value to showing prestige in the lobby. As others have said all it does is make peoples prejudices come into play before the match has even started. Makes the killers decide they’re either gonna tunnel this person out, avoid that person entirely or dodge the lobby altogether, further messing up the already busted MMR system. Makes survivors dodge lobbies based on perceptions of their teammates skill.

For those saying they want it kept to “show off” their P100, you can do that in endgame where your prestige will show up after the match. Your ego is not a reason to continue a system that has shown to have nothing but detriments to the entire system before a game has even begun. And I have a P100 character.

Even if you make it “optional” that still doesn’t solve the issue because those who chose to keep their prestige’s shown in pre match lobby are still contributing the the issue of lobby dodging and pre-game prejudices and assumptions by having your prestige shown even if others dont. Everyone else has their prestige hidden but your P100 is still shown? There goes the killer dodge and the backfill lobby giving us a new killer that is potentially way higher or lower MMR than should be matched with us, leading to a bad game.

There’s literally no good reason not to take it out of pregame lobby, but leave it for end match so those who feel the need to show it off can get their dopamine release from others seeing their achievements.

I mean I havent seen many people use it, I probably see it once every 20 matches or so, but anytime I go against it, it has consistently just been a horrible time.

If you’re only seeing it in 1 of 20 matches is it really that big a deal? That means once out of 20 matches you may not have a good match. That’s not a bad record tbh. If I only got tunneled in 1 out of 20 matches I would never complain about tunneling ever and consider that a blessing. 🤣 Just saying.

I get your overall point that it’s not fun and that’s valid but every match in this game is not going to be fun. That’s just the nature of pvp and if your track record is dealing with this perk 1 in 20 then you’re in good shape.

  • People really want everything survivors use to be nerfed. MFT nerf hasn’t even gone through and you’re already attacking something else.

Every time a widely used perk gets nerfed and survivors adapt and find something else to make useful for themselves everyone starts calling for it to be nerfed.

No one gave a damn about FTP or buckle up until survivors found a use for them and now all of a sudden they gotta go. Not to mention still complaining about windows because it’s the number one used perk.

It’s clear some of you (not all) but some of you just don’t want survivors to have anything that helps them survivor at all because you need that 4K every single match. 🤣🤣

  • I love this. One of the main reasons I don’t play killer hardly ever is because games in first-person tend to give me headaches and nausea after awhile.

Having Chucky in third person means I’ll likely mail him as a killer and play the role a lot more now. He’s my second fave horror character too behind Jason so I’m so happy about this.

Yeah cuz there are no other perks that killers can use for regression, the ones I listed above are literally all of the regression perks available for killers from the total of 112 perks that killers have.

Not my point. My point was that when those perks you mentioned got their nerfs, everyone cried that they were dead and no longer usable yet they’re all still being used at high rates. If they were dead, why not move onto a different META? Obviously they still have insane value. I’ve seen it in my matches.

The issue with mft wasnt that getting injured was 'you misplaying', the issue was that the 3% disproportionately affects m1 killers for no prerequisite from the survivor while also doing nothing against S tier killers.

That’s absolutely false. MFT did not affect S tier killers especially if they knew how to chase and mind game. MFT did nothing for lower tier players who didn’t know how to loop. Trust me, I’m one of them. I can’t loop and MFT did nothing for me, I still went down.

Everyone is acting like all you had to do with MFT was hold W and you’d do 5 gen runs the entire match and that’s so far from reality. MFT took skill with looping to be effective.

  • I’ll say right now if this new licensed killer we’ve been told we’re getting for months turns out to be a simple Myers rework, I will be annoyed as hell. That’s cheap and mid af

Ultimate weapon has a 7.27% pick rate compared to MFT who has 24.97% I'll let you do the math to figure out why one got nerfed over the other. The debuff is there to counter WoO who has 34.74% pick rate.

Pick rate has nothing to do with it. Especially since BHVR claims they don’t nerf perks based on pick rates.

This post is about people claiming that MFT needed nerfed because it was a free perk that didn’t require any skill or effort to use. Same for UW.

You’re arguing a straw man that no one even brought up.

  • Interesting they got nerfed into the forums yet I’m constantly still getting killers running full Gen regression builds .

I'm entirely agree, it's entirely possible to think both perks are overpowered.

A wise man once said "Anyone who makes up their mind before they've even heard the issue is a fool", and I would count anyone who aligns their opinion with a particular 'side' as a part of that.

I've made my disdain for UW known in many threads, so I wont parrot it here, but just cause one OP perk is getting nerfed, and the other isn't, definitely doesn't mean that nerf shouldn't go through... a point I wouldn't make if I hadn't seen it quite a few times already 😒

I agree just because both perks have issues doesn’t mean one shouldn’t get a nerf. I do think MFT was over nerfed considerably but I do think it was broken being allowed to stack with stuff like Hope for example. I think BHVR did what they always do and instead of announcing reasonable changes they’re just gutting it to quiet all the complainers.

That being said UW is a problem too and I think anyone who can look at MFT and say it’s a problem but that UW isn’t is being biased and disingenuous.

  • I prefer to play against killers who don’t tunnel because it actually lets me play the game. I can still get hooked twice and killed at the end and I’m fine as long as I had a chance to have a good chase, do a Gen and earn some BP for the time is spent in the match.

I get that people are gonna play how they play but that’s why I always make it a point to thank my killer in endgame chat for the fun match, if I escape I’ll always leave my item behind etc. I always wanna give the killer good feedback for a fun match especially when a killer has personality. I love going against killers who have personality even when they kill me. It’s so funny and entertaining.

I also do not like playing with survivors who tbag. Bagging does not personally bother me when I play killer but I know that’s it’s a sign of BMing and if I’m going against a cool killer I don’t wanna see other survivors being rude. I will actively go out of my way shame them in match and show the killer “They’re being mean and I don’t like that.” Good sportsmanship is something I value in any game I play personally.

Bottom line I will always treat my killer the way I want to be treated but I will also match energy. If you’re respectful and cool to me I’ll return that. If you’re toxic and BM me I’ll return that as well.

Hated, idk for other people but I have 3 main reasons that just make them very annoying to face in general

    1. "stealth killer" 8s of undetectable for setting up a drone every 10s is fine but she just makes no sound and has no real penalty / cooldown for it compared to other killers especially with addons which can give 100% uptime, t1 mikey is a heavy breather, ghost face has a longer cooldown, can be broken out of stealth and has some decent sounds up close, pig moves extremely slow while in stealth and has to ambush or stand up both have sounds and a warning, wraith has a long uncloak and has loud gnawing sounds and the uncloak sound. Skull merchant, normal speed no real strategy needed no sound made its like they didn't even design it properly by their own standards. when ever killers with tangential stealth mechanics have overkill passive sounds like dredge making something a stealth killer because it has no sound design then never fixing it doesn't feel great
    2. lock on stacks only decrease upon being downed / hooked. Sitting on 1-2 stacks until you finally get chased to then get the 3rd stack by mistake for an instant injure and an easy down after not interacting with the killer for ~2 minutes just doesn't feel great. The fact that they don't passively decay
    3. Slowdown / Speed up, even after the lock on injuring you that isn't enough because now you can now be forced to move at 90% speed and the killer moves at 118% speed if you can't get out of a loop. Slowdown just doesn't feel good and you can't make it feel good because it feels like the game is taking control from you, id rather have the killer go even faster then feel like I'm moving slower because it just doesn't feel great.

All of these I agree with.

As others have said, play her if you like her. That’s your choice. But yes I still hate going against her and most days I’m totally willing to eat the DC penalty in order to not deal with her.

(To be clear I’m not encouraging anyone to DC I’m just saying that that’s how I feel when I go against her personally because I hate her)

The wandering effect does need to exist, because then the perk would just be terrible.

Majority of lockers on a map like Rotten fields on are the edge of the map meaning you would be better off not running the perk. Then you have swamp maps that have huge locker deadzones due to the sparse spawning of lockers.

You can make an argument that 30 seconds is too long and nerfing that down to around 15 seconds would be more fair. But given how lockers spawn and maps, you need some bit of wandering for it to be worth the slot.

I agree. The wandering effect is what makes it a perk worth running and that’s fair. I would say one of two things needs to happen tho:

    1. increase the cooldown on it. 30 seconds is way too little time to be able to keep using it throughout the match. I’d give it at least a 90 second cooldown.
    2. Keep the 30 second cooldown but make the screaming part of the perk deactivate once it has worked on one survivor. That way you only get info on one survivor that you can chase BUT give all the survivors the blindness status still if they come in the radius. The fact that it can proc on every survivor for 30 seconds with only a 30 second cooldown is too much.

I mean if you aren't a weak survivor then the killer knowing where you are shouldn't have that big of an impact outside of camping

I could easily say that if you aren’t a weak killer in chase/mind games then the 3 percent haste shouldn’t effect you since Made For This does nothing for you if you’re a survivor who can’t loop.

🤣 Maybe try looking at the situation fairly instead of reverting to the “skill issue get gud” insult. The point of the game is for the survivors to be found. The game is designed where you can’t just hide from the killer all game, it’s set up for the killer to find you.

I will say that endgame made for this plus hope should not stack because that was unfair but the 3 percent haste was never the issue with MFT the way folks made it out to be, especially when killers have killer instinct to counter it.

Those of you defending UW show what side you play and how biased you are. Both these perks are problematic because neither requires any real effort. You can't justify searching a locker and having a scream effect in your terror radius for 30 seconds and try to consider that better than MFT. Lockers are more than plentiful on maps and it's not a big time frame to open one and get info on anywhere from 2-4 survivors at a time. Seriously y'all need to learn that everything goes both ways and if you wanna cry MFT is busted (which it is) go ahead, but you aren't entitled to acting as if UW isn't just as problematic.

Exactly my point. Searching a locker takes all of 2 seconds or less and the trade off for stopping to search is info on all the survivors and a status effect that slows them down for 30 seconds at a time. If you okay a 15 minute match that means you have info on all the survivors and a status effect on them for up to half of the entire match. That’s not a weak perk by any means.

  • Also my graphics drivers are all updated too. My system is an i7 processor and NVIDIA GTX 1080 graphics card.

  • Anytime I see someone killing themselves on hook I just let them die. I’m not gonna get off the Gen I’m on and waste running across map time trying to save someone who is trying to die. If I do, they’re just gonna run at the killer to get hooked again so they can leave the match.

They're not going to participate in gameplay so it’s a waste of time that could be spent on gens imo.

I had a true Scooby-Do trial yesterday with three identical Leons running in and out of portals.

Not going to complain, it was damn funny.

Matches like that are so funny. 🤣🤣 Im glad you had fun with it.

  • This happens to me a lot and it’s not my latency or ping it’s the killers. It’s definitely unfair but I’ve not heard Devs say anything tangible they can do to fix it.

  • It’s literally only part of an event that will be over in 48 hours. It’s not a permanent part of the game.
