IMO not. Playing with 3 Perks the whole game (or even 2, for the Majority of the game when also playing Corrupt), does not sound that good. And most of the time the Killers who are stacking so much Slowdown are not good at the game, which means that they dont even get value from stacking so many Slowdown-Perks.
Like, Ruin and PGTW will do nothing if you cannot down Survivors...
Ruin does if you're a Tinkerer gamer: it frustrates uncoordinated teams into leaping onto the hooks out of desperation to end the trial.
-
Not really. It's okay, but it's... Not great. Pop is already kind of an unreliable perk that you often just don't get to use because it's more valuable to chase someone. The most use I seem to get is in the early game, but if you have Ruin...
Better to run Surge or Undying if you're going to bring Ruin.
-
To be fair, the only time I ever basement trapper anyone is when I don't have much choice, which means it takes forever to get all the traps together, which means your team has ages to calmly come over and rescue you.
Also I'm a padded jaws gamer. So there's that, too.
-
Honestly, I thought there's be more people trying to get in some last minute DS abuse, but most of my trials have followed the exact same formula of just... Not really doing that.
I've had a grand total of 1 trial today where the survivors were being classic fun players, running at me with second chances galore. Problem is, they didn't follow it up with gens, so for me it was actually quite fun. Didn't eat a single DS, either. Mostly because none of them had it, they were just mindgaming me with a FTP and every other second chance meta perk. And I fell for it.

...aren't you a Blight main. His power is a massive middle finger to survivors that hold W. As some other killers that don't have good ranged attacks, instadowns or are Nurse and Spirit you might be struggling but that's more due to maps having terrible mobility options and no good way to cut survivors off.
I cannot stomach any more Blight at the moment. I'm genuinely sick of playing the same killer over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. So I try to take breaks and play other killers. But then I remember that the biggest reason I'm a Blight main is because no survivors in AU ever want to actually play DbD. Or at least, not the ones that play in the evening at high ranks.
And the fact is, if you have to play a certain selection of 3 killers in order to get any gameplay, which Spirit and Nurse do not have btw, they just counter hold W, then there's a much bigger issue at play.

When the survivors tell me to go play Nurse.

It’s because a lot of people play in a 4-man so you’ll never get them as teammates when you’re playing solo. To be fair though, I have played with / against some genuinely strong solo players. So we do exist. 😂
To be fair, it's mostly luck when a solo team wins. As in, luckily you managed to co-ordinate yourselves to the point of escaping without any screwups.
Playing killer, I would 100% take a full team of 5000 hour solo's over a 500 hour SWF squad. Partly becaus I might be able to actually get in some gameplay agasint a team that isn't instadropping pallets, holding W and slamming gens, but also because solo is ridiculously underpowered thanks to a lack of innate co-ordination in a game where you really, really need it.
-
Firstly, the answer is SWF.
Secondly, the real difference between survivor and killer is that when I play survivor is the only time I get to actually play DbD.

Cut them off. If you can't, don't take the chase if it means losing an important gen. It's basic macro.
So, never take any chase?
Edit: I can't stress this enough, this is all I get all day long. No gameplay, no looping, no chases, just all 4 survivors holding W and predropping pallets while their teammates slam gens. This has been my norm for well over a year. If there was a counter, I would know it. I would have, in the very least, in all my hours analysing gameplay from both myself and content creators, know how to magically beat this awful, grating stratagey.
-
I'm going to try, because I can see him being incredibly fun if they tweak the recoil/artificial innaccuracy. I'm fine playing a weak killer if I can get in cool shots.

Design Stupid Killers?
Blight wants a word with ya chief.
Slugging is not a new playstyle... It's a tactic / strategy you employ when the opportunity arises.
If you want an excellent type of stupid playstyle, we could go back to Pyramid Head. The whole M2 into M1 instantly Fiasco where 99% of chases would end up in a loss for survivors. I really don't want to get into this discussion.... again....
There's also Twins where people came with with a camping playstyle... I have no idea how this works as I don't have twins, rarely see someone play them and rarely play against them. I'm not sure of this info as I've only seen a few mentioned it on the forums & a few streamers.
Down someone as Victor, park by a hook, hook the donwed person, ay as Charlotte while facecamping from across the map. When you hear Killer Instinct go off, go back to the hook with Charlotte. Switch to Victor when they get too close to him/the hook. If they come for the unhook first, tunnel the hooked person with Victor. If they try to kick Victor, jump on them and down them/the now-unhooked survivor.
Rinse and repeat, because at some point everyone will be injured and can't go for the save and then that person is dead and you're hooking someone else and someone else is slugged and... Yeah.
TLDR: Facecamp people from across the map and then snowball heavily when enough people are injured, which you will force with the facecamping.
Edit: why the ######### did I just put this into words. I hate everything about this but I can't bring myself to delete it because I hate it and want everyone to know how dumb and strong and miserable and unhealthy it is.
-
The biggest reason is SWF. The simple ability to communicate with teammates is a huge, huge buff that hardcore players usually really want, and if you're a solo player you're rarely going to get 3-person SWF teammates, and for obvious reasons you will never see the 4-person teams. This mixes with the shortage of killers to create a game where you load in as a killer and get the people that are there to use you as a toy, but never really see teammates like that as a survivor.

That's only true if the killer commits. They don't have to. It takes 80s each to complete a generator solo.
It's true even if the killer doesn't commit. In a deadzone created by a teammate? Firstly, the gen was probably finished so it's rare to happen in the first place. Secondly, hold W. Suddenly you also become an extremely bad chase to take.

So, the only that is changing is that NOED activates when all gens are done (as it should)? Instead of simply activating when the exits are powered (including via hatch close)?
How does that take away face-camping/tunneling killers' "insurance?"
If you don't get multiple hooks on multiple people, you don't get NOED.

There are 4 survivors. They can only be hooked, at most, 3 times before they are out of the game. 3 x 4 = 12. If you have hooked 12 times the match is over, and now NOED is activated? What are you using it for? To quickly run to hatch and 1-shot it shut?
Get 7-9 hooks, all gens are done, NOED activates, get the last 3-5 hooks significantly easier.

Yeah mate. So don't commit to the chase. Pallets are also a resource if you're getting them dropped quickly that is more detrimental to the survivor team than killer. You're going to lose your team the game if you predrop every pallet safe, god or whatever.
Playing safe is only detrimental to the survivors of the other 3 aren't on gens. If everyone is being productive when not in a chase and playing safe when they are, then it's the easiest win of their lives against all but maybe 3 killers.
-
Or, we could get rid of all map selection tools outside of KYF. The last thing I want to do is constantly get sent to unfair maps.
-
A few perks are too strong and need nerfed. Most perks are too weak and need buffed or reworked. A lot of perks do their job well and don't need a change, they just aren't mindless to use (I think a lot of off-meta perks fit this catagory).
-
I prefer watching killer gameplay. Less downtime.
-
Yes, same as survivors can. This is not something limited to one side, both sides currently, and will continue to, derank or lower their MMR.
-
@GamerGirlFeng said:
If you're tunneling and camping then there's nothing else to do but rush gens. Interact with the survivors. Put up some map pressure. Give them something else to do.
See how the cycle works?
It cuts both ways. If the survivors just hold W and predrop pallets then the killer can't really chase them because the chase is completely uninteractive and one-sided. So the killer has to resort to camping and tunneling in the area now cleared of pallets whilst hoping the survivors don't make it to the safe areas by holding W some more.
-
That's how generators are supposed to work. That is literally what the game is balanced around.

They don't have any special properties. You could argue nurse, because hers is actually tied to her power. The others are just regular lunges, but spirit and wraith's go further because they get a movement speed boost. Lunge distance/speed is tied to your movement speed.
You literally just pointed out their special properties. They're essentially the same as Pig's lunge.
-
Plage is like... Well, there's not really any killer to compare her to in terms of skill. She has a relatively low skill floor if you wanna be a basic killer, but a really high skill cap, and the reward for getting better with her is equal to the effort put in.
Maybe she's like Blight, I guess?

Yet when they make a character's race they're clearly choosing an ethnicity on purpose.
It's the same entire argument, just race instead of sexuality, but you tell this person to wait when that answer isn't good enough for you.
Kinda hypocritical tbh
No. They would only be remotely comparable if the game had nothing but a single ethnicity. As it is, DbD has a very culturally diverse cast and its always getting more diverse.
-
You do realise just how diverse the world is, right? Be patient. There's a lot of ethnicities and cultures to get through and like it or not, one is not any more important than any other.
-
Good Blight here. I figured out how to do the 180 exploit in a single trial. It's easy as can be and it actually does require the use of external software/hardware (you have to change sensitivity settings around and/or have about a metre of clear desk space and a wireless mouse). And it's also literally an exploit, because it was completely unintended. It's exploiting a single frame at the start of Blights Lethal Rush lunge.
Also it removes Blights counterplay, which makes it significantly worse than anything survivors can do.
-
If they remove 99ing, then they have to buff his cooldown to previously-ridiculous proportions.

Off topic: I keep wondering why Bubba has that high of a killrate. I'm currently taking a break from killer as I got a 2nd gaming setup so I can SWF with my gf. We encountered multiple Bubbas as he seems to be popular since his rework but we have yet to lose against one.
Yesterday we legitimately made a Bubba give up. He got literally 0 hooks at Azarov's Resting Place. Literally all it takes is a few windows to shut down his power and once he M1s just hold W across the map and see the gens fly.
Why do people fail against him so often? We also encountered a NOED-Bubba that facecamped first hook. We just rushed the gens and almost had a 3 man escape. The random decided to greed for the 2nd gate instead of coming with us which got them killed.
On topic: If let's say I were to play killer while licensed killers were disabled I'd probably switch to Stridor Spirit if I want to win and Infectious Hillbilly if I want to instadown and snowball/slug people. Not sure if people liked that more than facing my Bubba or Pyramid Head.
Bubba with Bamboozle. He chews through pallets legitimaty faster than any other killer and leaves the entire team with no protection. That wrecks most teams because normally predrop-and-W gives them a minute or two more to work with, but unless the Bubba is going agasint a really good team then it's a pretty easy win.
-
Look, sweetie, you need to go play killer for a while. And I'm not talking Spirit with Yakuoke/MDRing or Forever Freddy at rank 10 like you so clearly do.
Go play Demogorgon. He's a nice middle-ground killer. Go play Demogorgon with all the things you complain about and see what happens.

If you get 12 hooks that means all the survivors have been sacrificed or killed. Why would you need NOED if the match is over?
Because you're using it to get the last few hooks?
-
Oni has a hard-capped 90° turn, and only the really low Blight mains abuse his stupid 180 flick.
-
They haven't really been fixing gameplay problems with the maps, just giving them a fresh coat of paint, so to speak. In fact, they drastically inflated the problem of The Game to the point where no-one argues with me when I say how bad it is for killer even though I feel no real difference than before except it takes a bit longer to chew through the pallets.
No, the killer changes are what excites me. I want to see what they do with them to try and make them better to play as/against, and there's always hope that one day they will nerf... Certain killers.
-
You get teleported as far away from him as possible, and his basic counterplay makes tormenting impossible in the first place.

Ebony mori, pink and purple add-ons... I'm not sure this is an argument that freddy is OP, when he's gotta spend almost 20k bp to get that 4k. From the loadout looks like he was going hard for the 4k no matter who he had played as.
The amount of bloodpoints spent is negligible in a game like DbD. It is essentially a non-issue, since you could bring this in in most of your trials just by swapping out Dying Light for BBQ and running BP add-ons when you have no Mori.
-
None. I love this game, so at some point I'm going to end up seriously playing all the characters. Right now, the ones I avoid are:
Demo, because I know once I start I won't stop.
Clown, because I'm just not a huge fan.
Hag, because I reached a point where I feel more guilty playing her than Forever Freddy.
Wraith, because no good perks :(
Deathslinger, because it's extremely painful to se show much my skill has deteriorated.
And Bubba, because no particular reason, I just don't play him much. I even find him pretty fun when I do, so it's even weirder.
-
Give permanent bloodlust 1 to killers the moment a survivor vaults? Doesn't sound particularly balanced. 3-5 seconds, maybe, that could be a nice buff.
-
Killers that don't rely on survivors mistakes? Nurse, Spirit, Hag, Blight, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Demogorgon (arguably), Bubba (arguably), and Doctor.
All of these killers can be played to their full potential without relying on survivors screwing up. Perhaps that potential just isn't enough to compete with Nurse, but at the same time if a team makes no mistakes then not even Spirit with MDRing/Yakuoke Amulet can beat them.

I don't know what I would do it would really depend on the circumstances, but as stupid as it sounds being productive loses the perk and the killer can freely tunnel. So he gets a free win either way. He can slug to avoid the perk or force you to spend a lot of time going completely across the map to do anything. All that wasted time means more time for killer to do his things.
... wow.
-
@Sluzzy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2036629#Comment_2036629
Going to the opposite side of the map and the killer can easily chase you there. It's too easy for killers to know where everyone is with all the tracking perks. Either way is a free win for the killer.
Wait, did... Did you just confirm that you would rather hide in a locker than be productive?
-
@Sluzzy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2035925#Comment_2035925
That's not true at all, it is a very bad at anti-tunneling perk now. A 1-time use weak perk. Decisive Strike should be decided by the survivor not the killer. Being unable to do anything is just making it convenient for the killer to win even easier.
So what you are saying is that you are the kind of teammate that would rather hide in a locker for 60 seconds on the chance you get to stab the killer, instead of simply going to another part of the map and being useful on a gen/healing/cleansing a hex?
-
If the survivor is right in front of me and I've had a miserable slog of a match, yeah I'm gonna slug for the 4k.
Otherwise, though, I don't really care. Actually, that's not entirely true, sometimes if they're in front of me I autopilot down them then give them hatch.
-
Skill means taking calculated risks, knowing what you have to do, when to do it, and being able to do it.
-
Who would have thought this would be Sluzzy!!!
Seriously, unfairly nerfed? Yep. Right. Because current DS just has loads of counterplay that isn't taken away by lockers or Unbreakable.
Mmm-hmm.
Totally.
Yep.
Nerf Huntress.
-
Not a fan of getting out as quick as most survivors do, or the fact that it's no longer mitigated by the few survivors that would stay in for a while.
-
Not really "hard" so much as "a miserable slog through the reasons why killers genuinely have to camp and tunnel."
There's nothing hard about my MMR trials, it's just holding W and predropping pallets.
-
Not sure how Twins are supposed to beat exactly the thing that counters them: teams that know to stick in pairs and to leave people on the hook til Victor despawns.
-
For practical reasons, Elodie and Steve. For personal reasons, Graff-Crafter Nea's.
