Legion is likely the most raw-general-skill dependant killer in the game, 70% going to your macro decisions and 30% to how you run tiles as short M1 killer.
Playing against decent coordinated teams is really tense as literally 1 mistake or slight overextention costs you the game immediatly. Playing against weaker opponents provides you with the most unloseable matches out of all the killers, and usually you know survivors have quite literally 0 chance 30-40 seconds into the game.
Regarding the latter part of the original post, do you actually miss hits with legion in FF? How?
Freezing, lagging, teleporting survivors, validation abuse, frame drops, more teleportation...
-
Because an honest simplisity is enjoyable.
-
High-level DbD is currently camping and genrushing and 4-minute trials. And it is relatively balanced. So ######### that, let's force all the sweaty players into one area like the comp scene pretends happens and the rest of us can enjoy the game.

It’ ps not even the pallets tbh it’s just that half the map is just chained tiles that a rank 15 could loop
Yeah, chained tiles with pallets that have to be broken or they become infinites, but also they can be easily looped because you always have LoS on the killer.
I tried bloodlusting the new hay tiles once. Nothing. Literally have to break it even moving at 130%. Feels like a god pallet to me.
-
It was balance reasons, so that players with better hardware couldn't get an unfair advantage, but since they've shown how little they care about anyone not using the latest and greatest they may as well add an FoV slider.

Haddonfield has also stayed the same for like 4 years pretty much. But nah apparently chapel was too well designed better add some god windows!
I honestly forgot about Haddonfield and Chapel, I was thinking about the god-pallet overload of Cowshed.
-
Please stop dragging Nemesis into it. Demogorgon and Huntress both have stronger, far more oppressive 1v1's. In fact, this entire model of killer is based on Huntress.
-
Devs don't care, just look at RPD. They really couldn't give less of a crap, all they want is thematic and pretty maps, not maps that are actually less entertaining to DC on and spend 5 minutes browsing cosmetics.
-
This has always been the case, and it would be fine if not for the fact that survivors can fall back on holding W and predropping pallets. And more holding W because deadzones are still strong AF in current DbD. Yay balance.
Killer is supposed to be harder than survivor, but with all the QoL nerfs (looking at you, completely broken sounds that stop any form of tracking) and the shift in meta to exactly what I mentioned above (something that's been a rising problem in AU since Oni and exploded at the beginning of the year to suddenly become 2/3 trials) has left killer in the absolute worst state it's ever been in simply because 4-minute trials and masses of verbal abuse (and cyberstalking, no crap my profile is private) mixed with absolute non-interaction and a general, frustrating inability to actually do anything beyond camp and slug.
Killer is supposed to be harder. The gap, it isn't supposed to be this large.
-
Wraith is fine, he's essentially the same as he was pre-buff with Windstorm. It's just that now more people are playing him and survivors who aren't the most experienced are having to deal with the classic, boring hit-and-run bs.
-
Nemesis doesn't "######### on loops", I don't know why everyone keeps insisting that he does, he slows himself down considerably to charge a tenticle strike and said strike has very limited range and a narrow hitbox. May as well complain about any killer that has any form of chase power and isn't a basic m1.
-
Maybe, but Nurse is also pretty map dependent and she's still the best killer in the game

Great plan, doesn't work.

On the other hand, survivors need a second objective to prevent gen rushing, and if NOED really is the ONLY reason to cleanse totems, then NOED is probably one of the best perks in the game, just by its existence. In the same vein that DS (before the nerf) single handedly prevented most tunnelling just from the chance that the survivor might have it.
I'm not a fan of the way NOED works though. It's too overbearing, it the most all-or-nothing perk in the game, and the "all" is too much.
I'd prefer it if NOED was reworked to take a snapshot of all uncleansed totems the moment the last gen is repaired, and then grant the killer that many tokens. Each token = an instant down. That way there's a limit to how many times the killer can use it, and it directly scales with survivor engagement with totems.
All Hex perks should work something like this to be honest. I can't stand the all-or-nothing nature of them.
The reason survivors don't do totems is because there's absolutely no reason to and absolutely no matter what totems will always be too much for any team with solo players due to their inherently hidden design. If the Devs want to add a secondary objective, the only way totems will come into play is if the gate switches are locked until all 5 are gone, which would make escaping as a solo survivor borderline impossible.
-
Perks shouldn't counter perks. If the only reason to cleanse dulls is NOED, NOED is the problem.
-
I don't think it's cakes, I think it's toxic players coming back for the event and deliberately doing crap like running Franklin's or farming teammates.
Edit: also, survivors get doubly awarded for surviving, because of the 5k BP multiplied by 1+the number of cakes, and earning a crown. So, time to slam gens.

I had a match not too long ago where I cleared all 5 totems, did 3 gens all by myself and helped with a 4th. Yeah, they helped by distracting the killer, but on the other side nobody would have lived if I didn’t do what I did. The bp should have been similar. It definitely wasn’t.
Yeah, and if you point it out you just get shat on for "not helping".
-
Yeah, it actually needs some reasonable activation conditions given that, unlike hooking all individual survivors, you're not usually going to be able to get saves or protection hits without throwing at least half the games you're in simply because other people will be instead and you'll just end up in direct competition.
Saves, totems and gens finished should all be stacks as well.

I wouldn't even mind getting deranked if it did anything, but I have been facing higher mmr players since rank 16 to be honest. Being 12 doesn't change anything. Still get red rank twitch TV people in my lobbies on week into the game. Lol.
On AU theres a bit of a hard divide between ranks 5 and 6. If you're rank 6 or below, you tend to go against the not-sweaty-but-not-bad players. Rank 5 or above and its mostly red rank opponents that have zero chill.
Of course, I still get that now that I'm rank 9, which is why I'm rank 9, but it's definitely a thing.
-
So you would rather Nemesis be completely unable to fit through doorways, be easily seen over walls, have to slow down to squeeze through maze tiles, be unable to vault half the windows, and generally be unable to function?
-
Level 50 bloodwebs do spawn more event stuff, but yeah, survivors should have double the number of event nodes as killers do just so they can get almost as many cakes.

I mean doing gens is part of the game not toxic.
By that justification, so is camping and tunnelling.
And, once more, 4 gens in 2 minutes simply because I haven't been camping or tunneling. In all of those trials, the gates 99'd in 4 minutes and the survivors suddenly wanted to farm.
-
I think I had 12 trials in a row against genrushing teams that would burn 2-3 cakes and suddenly 2 minutes into the game there'd be 1 gen left? No shite killers play like arseholes, so do survivors. It's a toxic cycle with no beginning and no end.
Survivor has been far more playable just because there's less of those killers and my ques are literally instant for the first time in 2 years.

if you are on console the freezing are the frames dropping to 0 from what ive heard.
Yep. Except I'm on PC. And I have a very good PC that doesn't struggle with any other game.
That's how bad it is.
-
It really is that broken, I can't do skillchecks, stun the killer, take a hit, dodge a hit, be near the killer as they active their power or kick a gen, or save a survivor without my game freezing.
Also, I'll just be walking or running along and my game freezes for like 10-15 seconds. I don't even know why.
-
I know, right? Kills get me no points, so now that I've been power-deranked by event bully squads I've just been trying to go for 8-hook trials but for ######### sakes it's so bloody annoying trying to rember who'se been hooked and who I'm going to slug instead

Look I don't wanna pick and choose sides but you playing Spirit with filters + a res that stretched doesn't exactly make you out to be a saint.
I was just thinking that this seems like a pot-kettle moment
-
That's not actually true. Survivors who predrop pallets and rush gens force the killer to also get no points, maybe about 8-10k, and. Alot of them deliberately burn cakes just to trick killers into going easy on them and then suddenly you're 2 minutes into the game at 1 gen left.

Depends, cant really counter it when it's used for distance unless you're playing Slinger or Huntress.
Or if the killer cannot really bait it out and has to commit, such as when there's only a brief window of opportunity to get a hit and hesitation just means they don't get hit and don't have to use Dead Hard.

Question:
With all of the stuff in this thread, do you guys think DBD is in a worse place then it was 6 months ago? Otz doesn't seem to think so, and I honestly cannot fathom how he doesn't. (yes I know, don't take words of streamers as some Holy text but still)
Yeah, it's in a much worse place. This game runs so poorly now that the DX12 trick literally just makes it slightly playable for me. Why they hate my hardware I don't understand.
Maybe Otz is simply meaning from a balance perspective, since we don't have DS or Undying any more? Or that we have a larger overall playerbase thanks to lisenced content? Either way, those two positive changes don't overshadow
1) A broken game that can't run properly
2) The severe increase in holding W, predropping pallets, tunneling and facecamping
3) The buffed maps that were already Survivor-sided
4) Those same maps occasionally spawning massive deadzones
5) More killers that the community hates and pleases nobody (personally I love Nemesis, but you can't deny the undercurrent of hate from both sides he gets)
6) An event that, while pleasing enough, still failed to meet last year's standard simply because there's less cakes
And 7) Even less developer-community communication and severely increased Dev mistrust thanks to years of promises that have gone nowhere.
-
There's no such thing as a "farming offerring".
@Zozzy said:
Play the killer side and you will realise that survivors are going just as tryhard.
And this is absolutely true. As usual, no side is innocent and there's toxicity everywhere, which is why I've been streaming shows and playing with Spine Chill, because it's way easier to not take the game seriously when you're not paying attention.
-
Probably, they don't seem to care about stopping it
-
She exists because sweaty survivors do. That's pretty much it. She's there so there's a strong killer to compete with strong survivor stuff.

I see it every second game. It’s far from underrated in Australia
Yup. I see it a lot on Trapper and Pig
-
If it's the killer, they have cake. Probably. Survivors, however, don't - I already ran out.
-
What if keys were base kit for survivors? Everyone can just open the hatch the moment they find it, all they have to do is more gens than the killer gets kills.
-
Yep.
-
You get 1 rift shard thing per 500xp, and you get do just for how long you were in the trial.
A lot of people just AFK in-game to farm rift shards, you also get most of the way there naturally by completing the rift challenges. I think I'm at tier 32 no, and 2 days ago I was around 20.
Edit: to clarify, that's from rift challenges and generally screwing around in-game.
-
What? Are... Have you ever played Trickster? Literally the only thing he has going for him is he can't be looped for minutes at a time if the player is absolutely god-tier. He has no lethality, no map pressure, a terrible secondary power that i keep forgetting exists, a large lullaby, and boring, uninteractive counterplay.

Yeah thats probably it. Between items and prestige youre pribably getting less chances for it to pop up
Prestige doesn't really change anything, it's only a 1% increase in the spawn rates of higher rarity nodes so the average difference is 1 more purple node per 50 bloodwebs or something ridiculous like that

My OS itself and background processes take up a hefty chunk (and plus I use Chrome for some reason) so I can't relate with that kind of silver spoon gigabyte abundance.
well, 16 gigs is the norm and has been for about 4-5 years. I got 2 8gb sticks for $70NZD last year, but I don't know if the chip shortage is causing the price to increase or by how much. I also don't know what your motherboard takes, I think DDR2 and DDR3 are still a fair bit cheaper if you have slots for them.
You could always just buy a 4gb stick, that's usually enough to run the resource-hungry Windows OS and some browser tabs (although Chrome is one of the worst when it comes to eating CPU and ram, I uninstalled it because of how much it slows my PC and how much data it gathers. Firefox and Opera are better options if you want to free up processing power). I have to run multiple virtual machines which is why I forked over so much, but generally a basic Windows 10 VM runs quite well on 4 gigs of space so the real thing should as well.
-
I have 16 gigs of DDR4 and I don't think this game has ever used more that 7 gigs.
-
There's no real reason, to be honest. It's just that under normal circumstances, you don't need it to pause because you have enough time even if you have to search all 4 boxes. It's when certian add-ons and/or maps like Midwich, The Game and Mother's Dwelling come along that everything falls apart.
-
If someone's going to go out of their way to bodyblock, they have to be prepared to get tunneled.
-
I'd love a cramped, urban, Victorian street, or a small fort, or even some special map types with bigger spaces, more gens and loads more chests with inherently better loot spawns.
-
Bit of both.
-
Oh, I'd love that! I think most people would!
Except the Devs, because shards are designed to be grindy to "gently" encourage you to use real money... Sigh
-
Yeah, it's really ######### stupid and really, really unfair.

Yeah it seems like if you want to accrue a lot of blood points and level up characters then it's worth it, but otherwise not really. I agree that if you're not having fun, then what's the point?
Yeah, if you don't care about event items, BP or crowns then it's just normal DbD. Which is fine to me, if an event has items and BP and free cosmetics I'm happy.
