  • I just found killer fun after a while and spent about 4-5 months pretty much only playing killer. Then I just started playing more survivor again and now I rubber band between the two. Sometimes I'll go a week without touching survivor. Sometimes (like right now) I'll got for a week without touching killer. Sometimes I do back-to-back trials. Mostly, if I'm being honest, I play survivor. Killer is just too much for me to handle at the moment. Looking forward to when I can get back to Blight without getting triggered.

  • The insistence on welcoming competitive players. DbD is not competitive, it should never be competitive, and competitive players are the root of all the pain and toxicity - you know, the ones that want to "win" every trial and do literally everything they can to do so in the easiest manner.

  • And yet killer is still harder. Funny that.

  • Doctor is THE anti-stealth killer, and also ridiculous in a chase if you get good with him. However, he has no mobility and his perks are trash (except m&a, which has negative synergy with him)

Blight is THE mobility killer. He counters hold-W and forces survivors to be better than you in order to escape. He can spread damage as well as Huntress and Legion, zoom around the map better than Billy, and can use his power at most loops. His perks are all pretty decent as well.

I'm probably the guy people would call out for having scummy tactics lol since I always stack it to my favour and play against a teams playstyle case in point today I had a sacrifice all 4 in the basement challenge.

so I put on my iridescent heads my infintry belt iron grasp deerstalker warden and noed just in case it got to endgame and if the basement was in shack near a gate and low and behold they stick me on the asylum map and the basement in dead center map.

and they kept rushing it for saves and even had a Claudette who had a suspicious save with a flashlight when I was looking at a wall rage kill on the hook because I got them and I was camping the stairs via proxy and kicking gens near it and I will gladly admit that game I was tunnling and camping the basement steps.

But that's the point at time's it pays to play scummy and a bit campy and stack it in your favour because it works.

Though my most hilarious moment of being called a camper carrying guy to a hook a Lauri rushes me and I slug hear near the hook and I spent the entire hook time for the guy looking for her on the ground and I got called a camper like dude was you not watching your teamate rush near the hook

You are precisely the kind of player that breeds the hate and toxicity in this community.

You just don't understand how to use it.

It INSTANTLY turns you into survivor's direction so you can fit into some really slim timings.

When you can't benefit from addon, you usually have time to turn yourself anyway, so this addon is only a hindrance when there are multiple survivors nearby, otherwise it is a very good addon.

I understand how it works and how to use it, I just have good reaction times and so get screwed over more than helped. If someone needs compound 7 to play Blight, fine. But it is a massive hinderence if you are the kind of player that can make snap decisions, aim well and process every piece of information presented. It's like if Huntress had an add-on that swung your camera around when you reach full charge.

  • The cleansing time shouldn't be extended. It gives the killer a notification at the beginning of the action, an effect that is strong enough even with 1 token. You've got to remember, totems don't retain their cleanse level when the action is cancelled, so a single interrupt wastes all that time. There's a reason my favourite, and amusingly reliable, Spirit build is a Hex Build with TOTH. It's completely insane how strong that perk is with mobility.

However, I do think it should have a better secondary effect. Like all BP bonuses, it should be applied after the trial, and it could have a dull-totem buff like Retribution. Perhaps it could give the killer aura reading or a notification post-cleanse.

  • I don't expect to get any kills in any trial. Playing killer isn't like playing in a SWF group, there's nothing you can do to guarantee a kill except bubba facecamp, and anyone that does that shouldn't even be playing the game for a multitude of reasons, chiefly that your goal is to kill everyone.

You've just got to accept that sometimes, nothing can be done. You get outplayed. More often, you get outperked or out-hold-W'd. You've just got to accept that it's not always reasonable to expect even 1 kill, no matter how good you are.

  • Massive debuff for any Blight with good reactions. Too often you're going to end up looking where you don't want to look. I'm glad it isn't base kit like I saw so many people claimed it should be in his first week, or Blight would be unplayable.

  • There's nothing imbalanced about it. Most perks or add-ons that show killers aura's are pretty damned useless. The same cannot be said in reverse. Killers have no perks even remotely as strong as Kindred or Object of Obsession, not in the aura-reading department.

The quantity of things does not denote the quality of information provided.

  • Not a fan.

I like the idea of the visuals and the main building, but even after the rework it's still too strong. I cannot truly appreciate the visual qualities of a map if survivors have both the options of playing stealthy and looping. All I can say is that I hate the grass, as I do on every map bar Badham and Yamaoka, for some strange and unfathomable reason that happened about the time Blight got released.

Honestly, in my 2 years of playing this game, I've yet to see a survivor do a gen when their trap is active. Even when it's not, they just go to a box instantly. Myself I'll do a Gen until it activates, then I prioritze getting it off ASAP.

I see it fairly often, mostly from overconfident squads. They bank on the fact that the first box they search is the one with the key. Most of the time they get away with it, but sometimes their greed does catch up with them.

  • It's the same mentality as killers calling every team a bunch of filthy genrushers. They think they are the best, most honourable players and that the only way someone could have beaten them is via scummy tactics. So, in order to keep this fantasy alive, they twist everything to suit their narrative.

Any killer on that list or in general? Nurse has far more counterplay than spirit, deathslinger, pp head and freddy.

    ... Okay then.

  • I rarely see hags camping, and I only think I've seen 1 that tunneled. It's just so hard, because hag has no control over who triggers her traps unless she is in a direct chase. What's she gonna do, teleport to the unhooked survivor, see that it's them, and politely apologise as she resets her web and leaves them alone (probably to go work on a gen)?

Edit: Also, Spirit and Slinger DONT have interactive chases. That's why people hate them. That is literally the hate-basis.

  • OoO is the absolutely most overpowered info perk in the entire game. Literally nothing compares to it. You get all the info you want whenever you want it, with no real downside. Oh, no, the killer can see your aura, wow, how terrible. How awful. What a huge downside.

Except it's useless info for the killer that you have full control over. Wow, you're on a gen, how ever could I have bloody well guessed. Oh, look, you literally see me coming from across the map and have all the prep time you need, my my, how terrible you have it.

The only perks I hate more than OoO are DS and NOED, and even then some absolutely lovely people don't use either of them lazily. There's no way to use OoO except extremely obnoxiously.

I’d take nurse off that list. Unless the nurse is actually insane and god tier, there are many ways to prevent going down to one and last for minutes in chase.

The same can be said for literally any killer, so why even bother saying it at all.

  • A lot of the cosmetics are just overpriced reskins of existing skins, or overpriced in general and not holding to a standard that the Devs outright stated. (I love my Minotaur, but that isn't what they said legendary skins would be.)

  • I don't think that that tactic works, unless the Devs have done their usual misdirection. It used to be a huge problem, til (thankfully) they changed matchmaking to only take into account the team member with the highest rank and apply it across all teammates. However, this coincided with the killer exodus and flood of new survivors and helped create the old 20 minute wait times, so they basically fixed that issue by having the matchmaking algorithm rapidly disable itself.

  • I do hold survivors to a code of honour, and if they break it I disregard mine.

The reason they exist is because the game is absolutely ######### miserable otherwise. Too many idiots (and yes, if someone plays DbD competitively they are an idiot for a multitude of reasons) ruining games with scummy tactics. Oh, look, let's just tunnel this one person (a very inefficient tactic) and rob 4 people of a game. Oh, let's just do Gens Before Friends and abuse DS.

Except the entitled players of this community except one side to have rules of honour and not the other. And, when that is the case, they usually have wildly unrealistic expectations. For example: touching someone with DS is tunneling. Doing gens is genrushing. Looping strong areas is toxic. Zoning into deadzones is toxic.

(Okay, side note to bring in a ray of sunshine, I was chasing this Nea the other day through Shack>Path Pallet>Path Pallet>LT>Long Wall>Junk Tile. We both spent ages in the post game chat drooling over the setup. I was so jealous.)

  • Bond and Spine Chill don't have a lot of synergy. Spine Chill itself isn't really all that great, not once you stop using it, and Bond has a similar effect: you can see if the heartbeat means the killer is coming for you, or chasing a teammate.

Personally, if I want a lot of information, I'd go with Bond, Kindred, Open Handed or Kindred, Alert.

  • Original killers.

Sorry, but I just find the original characters 10× more interesting. Everyone goes nuts over liscencing, but honestly I just want more creativity and originality. Plus, you can buy original characters with shards, which I have never done but I like that it is a thing that people can do.

  • @GrimmReaper said:

Bet some of the people here saying they're unbiased are actually biased. We've seen your posts.

I once had someone come after me for being a selfish, whining, DS/UH abusing toxicity apologist that needed to stop being such a whingy prick, stop abusing second chance perks, play killer once in a while and grow the hell up.

I don't know if you recognise me, but no-one in that thread did. Which is good, because that would be kind of wierd.

  • A proper Mr Hyde skin for the Blight.

  • Ranks are grandfathered in and they're here to stay. When MMR gets rereleased we'll still have those worthless ranks telling us how much of our own time we wasted pretending to be good at something.

Seriously, you don't even rank up for making good plays. I mean, I don't expect you would given how complex a system would be needed to judge such things, but come on. I did not play well because I abandoned all gens to unhook someone right in front of the killer to lose as little altruism as possible.

  • Hopefully, in a year the Devs will have put their foot down and forced the community to accept that this isn't a competitive game, thus getting rid of the sweaty SWF's and tryhard killers that like to pretend they accomplished something after steamrolling 10 opponents in a row that weren't trying to do the same. Then we can have some actually fun things in trials.

But in all likelihood they're going to lean into the false competition for that sweet, sweet eSports cash. I liked the atmosphere of the Into The Fog "tournament" but I doubt they will ever repeat it with such overt "this game isn't balanced so let's have some fun!" themes.

And I fail to see how that's a problem??? If anything that should give BHVR the heads up that they still need to make some serious changes to a ton of killers. The smallest changes too, mind you, that would probably take 1 guy less than 10 minutes to implement.

Also what economy lmao, you can't trade or give bloodpoints away and they have no value outside of the bloodweb.

The economy: Add-ons are a finite resource. You earn them by playing the game, and you take into consideration when you want to equip them. Allowing you to just have whatever add-ons you want, no matter what, would make it so that only the strongest add-ons would ever get used, and they would get used with mindless glee. Oh, look, I just got an Oni bloodweb with no top knots. Wait, no, I actually got 3 of them. And 5 in the next. Oh, and one actually spawned in this one, well, it'll go nicely with the 2 I just traded for!

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by all the rest, it seems like you've only replied to my comment in the second paragraph, because that first one makes no sense with or without context.

  • The priority of survivors should always be this:

    1) Your team.

    2) Teamwork.

    3) Working together.

    4) Being a part of a team.

    5) Being a team player.

    6) Pulling your damn finger out and sprinting outside of a chase instead of crouching/walking everywhere.

    7) Helping your teammates.

If everyone keeps that extremely complicated and difficult-to-remember set of rules in their heads, survivors will get nerfed and they'll get nerfed hard.

  • Always bring Kindred if you want to actually be a useful member of your team. Bond is good as well. Why? Because you need to know what your teammates are doing. Or rely on cheesing second-chance builds and forcing ridiculous perks, but people that do that don't get any better, and they aren't that useful to their team.

  • Because people just assume you aren't. I call out stupid shite on both sides, but I rarely do it in the same post (because that's absolutely stupid) so toxic people that like to ruin everything and attack you as personally as they can instead of providing any form of counterargument just automatically assume I'm a "main."

  • There was this time that DS was bugged and I watched a killer yank all 3 of my teammates from lockers, eat it, and down their "fair and balanced" arses.

  • Yeah. And? How does that make them hooks?

  • There's nothing wrong with flashlights. Just re-adjust yourself.

  • Because I like the game. I like that it's an assymetrical slasher. I like the gameplay, particularly the chases. I DONT like that I bought it thinking that the wily survivor would be the difficult and rewarding side, but after the initial shock of ranking up wore off I adapted.

Plus, I've sunk a lot of moneys into this game.

  • And this is why I constantly remind people that stealth is OP. Because it is. There's nothing you can do but waste a while bunch of your precious time trying to find one person because you think they might be in the area, all the while being literally unable to see than and basically just relying on bumping into them physically because the foliage is totally balanced.

Seriously, there's nothing you can do. No perks help you. Whispers radar? Guess what, they move around, and even if they don't then how long did it take to pinpoint them? If you even could pinpoint them, because it's pretty likely that you were picking up another survivor as well.

  • Crutches dont help you, they carry you. If someone needs to run perks that give them second chances, then yes, they are crutches. If someone runs them but doesn't need them, then they are just strong perks. How can you tell the difference? Because crutch users constantly complain the moment their mistakes aren't fixed for them.

And stop making everything is Vs them, it's so damn annoying. "Oh, survivors are the only ones that get called out for using crutches, oh woe is me." NOED gets more hate as a crutch than anything and you conveniently forgot about that. In fact, somehow, for some insane reason, people have began to call BBQ, Corrupt and even Pop crutch perks.

  • If it's the Fun Bus, with the window in the middle? No, it's the strongest junk tile in the game. Unless you are one of a very small handful of killers, they can just sit at that window and you're screwed. It shouldn't be in the game and I don't know why it is still a thing.

However, the bus with the window at the end is far more playable. Still strong, but playable.

  • No, because it's a pretty weak solo que perk. It's basically designed as an extremely powerful SWF perk, since they are the only ones you can coordinate with to both activate it and get it's full effect without anyone else wasting gen time to run halfway to you before you yeet off and run to a gen with DS.

  • I don't think that is ever going to happen. It would completely destroy the games economy and make absolutely certain that you only ever play with the killers best addons for that tier.

  • The entirety of human existence is "us Vs them." It is the basis for having borders, it is the core of racism, sexism, xenophobia, it is the start of every conflict from wars to forum arguments.

You aren't going to solve selfishness and bigotry in a forum post. I admire the attempt, but it isn't going to happen.

If survivors are doing generators in 4 minutes against a Nurse I'd hardly believe that's a very good Nurse. You may as well be applying no pressure at all with that given scenario, a Wraith hiding invisible in a corner of the map basically.

It takes at least a minute to get a first down, because they are good players and not utter morons and will just run away. That means 3 gens done, all in the centre, and another about halfway. 2 players stack on that gen while the last buggers off to a corner with 2 gens in it. If you hooked, they have time to finish it, and it pops, because they have Prove Thyself. If you chained a chase, that slug picks themselves up before you get your second down, because they will just hold W, and they go work on another gen. The solo repairer gets off another gen while you juggle the first 3, because at some point you have to hook at least one, who has UB but keeps 99ing it with SG. Now they have DS and can waste an entire minute of your time. Every time you begin to snowball, UB. And then the last gen has popped because they subbed out the solo repairer, you have 1-2 hooks, and it's only been about 3 minutes.

    Time for the doors.

Easy mode, they split up, one to each door, you get a pity kill and 3 people escape. Or, if you didn't use up all the small pp's, 4 escapes.

Uh, you must have read my comment wrong. That's not what I was laughing at out of the sheer ridiculousness of the claim.

Wait, you think Nurse is good enough to beat 4-minutes-and-out-the-gates? I've yet to see it, not without the survivors having a massive cock-up or the nurse having an amazing early game and very favourable map. And that's without items. Like it or not, even the strongest killer is reliant on survivors mistakes, just a little differently than normal.

And then 3-4 small pp builds take away the 3-4 cock-ups. Lovely, that.

  • No, I just don't give up because someone else told me the killer was bad. Instead, I actually took the time to learn him, practice his power, figure out when and where I can use it, see what add-ons are effective, what maps have little secrets, what tiles he reverses, and how to actually hit survivors that attempt to juke you even around debris.

If you don't get good results with Blight, that's your problem. I'm gonna keep murdering nearly everyone I come across.

  • No real point, just stupid people wanting unhooks.

  • @Slashstreetboy said:

Nurse in particular is considered that good because her power allows her to bypass the usual gameplay loop (pun intended).

In the higher skill bracket balance is in favor of survivors in the sense that M1 Killers can´t do much against a good looper.

I recommend you watch a tournament or two to if you want some examples of this.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635105#Comment_1635105

Completely mindless is a bit harsh...I´m constantly rank 1-4 and I main Myers, Trapper, Clown and Oni. However if I try spirit I get rekt really hard even using stridor and a 110 Euro headset -.-

    "Almost completely mindless."

You do still have to remember how to use her power (in short bursts and only at loops or for mobility between chases), but other than that Stridor just takes away any guessing and tells you exactly what you need to know because you can just hear survivors breathing. No mindgames, no prediction, just phase to the right side of the pallet/window and slappity slap.

Yeah the only reason I’ve asked is because I was playing solo survivor, and I got matched with what I believe was a 3 man swf. They used the “hatch in main building” offering, but then also used a game offering as well. I didn’t want to miss out on the potential hatch escape, but then I thought “where is the main building in the game? We are in a building lol”. However, the killer disconnected as soon as the match started, so I did not get to see the outcome.

I actually had a team in my last trial bring both a hatch-spawn and a hatch-tracking map. On the same person. With a badham offering on another, who was on their friends list and had the same "Hex:" style name. With a key.

And they didn't even use the hatch. They opened the gate and I got a 3k. ######### was that match. ######### was the point of any of those things. I'm still genuinely confused.

  • Haddonfield. Has to be Haddonfield. It's just such a bad map. Brilliant windows, strong pallets, super long walls, super strong structures, ridiculous stealth... Haddonfield's got it going on.

No "killer-sided" map has both terrible loops and terrible stealth. It's insane that there are so many that are brilliant for both playstyles, and Haddonfield is the biggest offender.

  • @stufoot99 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1634908#Comment_1634908

For those maps, I’m pretty sure hatch/basement would spawn in the shack. The offerings both say that, “If there is no main building, spawns in the shack” or vice versa. That’s why I was wondering where the main building is on the indoor maps, because they do not have a shack, nor do they have an actual main “building”. I guess they just have a main room instead.

Fair point. I forgot about that clause, given that they are pretty worthless unless someone's bringing a key for "fun" times. I've just been burning them for giggles 'cause I ran out of BP offerings.

  • Nurse has no counterplay, the fastest chase time, and decent mobility. Spirit is a close second, in all of the above however she is easier to play, and Stridor Spirit is almost completely mindless.

I also have no idea why people think you have to play strong killers to rank up. All the ones you listed get pips left and right regardless of how well you do.

1 … 123 124 125 126 127 … 165
