  • With all due respect, if you don't understand why it is completely broken then you really don't understand DBD. Otz showed just how broken it really is in his most recent video, it should be kill-switched until it has been fixed as it is completely game breaking with the right killer and perk combo and it isn't exactly rocket science to create a completely unwinnable scenario for survivors.

  • @DeBecker said:

    I doubt that.

It has been in the game for ages now.

I found this out by accident when I forgot I readied up and tabbed out to watch a YouTube video. I tabbed back in to the game with the intention of hitting ready only to be surprised to find myself on death hook lol. Sure enough… matchmaking ban.

They didn't make this change well known imo but it is indeed the case and has been for a long time now.

  • Unfortunately this has been going on for as long as DBD has existed, I have met some of the best Steam friends I have through DBD but I have also encountered the worst people I have ever had the displeasure of encountering in a multiplayer game.

I find the best thing is to just move on from matches (I sometimes still cant help myself in post game chat), I run anonymous most of the time so people have no idea who I am and cant form grudges as has happened in the past and take breaks from DBD to cleanse of the toxicity.

I never teabag unless someone specifically goes out of their way to camp/tunnel me and I never camp/tunnel myself, I try not to add to the toxicity as much as possible but after playing this game for 5k hours, I realise its completely pointless trying to get rid of toxicity as you cant control how others behave

  • Yeah it has become an annoying addition, predictably so.

I have been saying for years that the survivor slugged 'for the 4k' should be able to concede the match and move on, rather than be stuck unable to play the game or leave for potentially 4 minutes while their team mate hides out the killer.

Unfortunately I have a sneaking suspicion they may try to monetise custom moris, so I suspect this annoying addition isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

  • Things have felt a bit all over the place but I always felt like MMR is a bit janky at times. I have felt a bit out of sorts after grinding 2v8 hard and I think a lot of others are feeling a bit similar. People just aren't tolerating irritating builds etc at all since the event finished, so lots of going next and DC's too.

  • While I do agree there are some pretty scummy players at present, survivors do a lot to make that playstyle work even more.

If a killer is proxy camping, do gens and if you have to, trade hooks at the very last second possible. Run Off the Record, Dead Hard , DS and Reassurance (or any of these perks in your build OTR is incredibly strong) and STOP HOVERING AROUND A CAMPED SURVIVOR.

I cant count the number of times I would have got anti camp and was ready to lead a tunnelling killer into a world of misery with an OTR into DS to reset deep wound followed by DH combo… only for my team mates to be hovering the hook so I never get anti camp.

At the very least if you don't want to change perk builds, DO GENS. I hate killers that play like that but survivors make it much more worthwhile for them to resort to this.

  • @ChuckingWong said:

The increase of tunneling and slugging is the survivors fault but not only.

    Stopped reading after that

Yeah me too, though there are a lot of things survivors could do to make tunnelling less useful but they don't as most solo survivors are clueless, unfortunately.

  • Nope, the game is killer sided right up to the top level where it switches over.

I don't care what stats say as we all know just looking at raw numbers rarely tells the full story with DBD. Also the majority of the player base are casual, unskilled survivors who would die to a no perk Freddy every time.

The game used to sway very much towards being totally survivor sided in the old days but a lot of the BS killers had to endure (infinites, old DH, old DS, excessively large pallet filled maps) have been removed over the years.

Good survivors in a SWF with comms will always be a problem at any level though

  • I have been running her all day as I always get every survivor and killer to P10 at minimum before levelling others up further. Not noticed anything like that personally and being tunnelled is something some players want and you cant really claim you are being griefed because a killer tunnels you.

  • Another thing I hate is now there is a new killer almost every match is versing the same thing, it is one thing I absolutely despise about new chapters - constantly having to verse the same thing.

I was actually excited when I loaded in and got a Spirit, only to quickly have the joy wiped away when I realised they had a full gen regression build and were proxying and tunnelling every hook when it was totally unnecessary.

    Sigh

1v4 solo q is unplayable, doubt most survivors are happy to go back.

As someone who initially hated 2v8… yeah going back to normal matches has been rough.

Cant say I would not play standard matches at all if 2v8 was permanent but I started to really enjoy not having to endure obnoxious perk builds, maps and killers. The only real objection I hear from most killers about 2v8 is the queue times and that it has a negative effect on regular match queue times too

  • Change how you word things if you don't want it moved to feedback, I agree though it essentially kills the thread as not many people go outside of the general section.

  • Feeling fatigued today, no BP bonus, new un-fun to verse killer every game (I hate when new DLC comes out as it is the same killer over and over and over) and back to obnoxious perk builds that we had a merciful break from while 2v8 is on.

I am being a downer Dave today, just feeling a bit demotivated and sad as I have been having a blast in DBD for the last few weeks :(

  • I am already missing it.

My first normal game I played was a Hag (actually before the event ended when I accidentally chose normal mode) who basement camped someone out so everyone just went next… then a Blight will full slowdown and tunnelling and the new killer which doesn't feel strong but the dog is much like Pinheads chains in holding you in place temporarily, denying the fun part of DBD for me - the looping I spent thousands of hours getting good at.

Again I have to say I hated 2v8 but boy did that change after realising how much certain perks, killers and maps suck the fun out of 1v4. I wish they would make it permanent now, I don't think I would play 1v4 much if I had the choice.

  • Sometimes to be honest I totally get why survivors go next… but against a Freddy or Myers etc, I honestly cant understand it and I don't know how you fix that.

I rarely play killer anymore but if that happens I just let everyone else go, I might hook them all twice and let them get a few stuns but after someone quits I will reward the others for staying.

  • As someone who absolutely despised 2v8, it grew on me when I realised I was not going to maps I hate like Hawkins and I was not facing killers I hate and I started to love it.

Returning to normal mode feels… depressing. I also have to add that I forgot how miserable perks can make this game feel on top of tedious killers. At least with 2v8 everyone understood what was going on and if you didn't know it was easy to pick up.

There is such a mess of perks and addons to deal with in normal mode it makes it so exhausting. I feel a bit lost now, like I want to play but I also don't :(

  • Lol… yeah I hear you and while I am not particularly fond of Wraith either, I would take Wraith any day over a Trickster, Chucky, Knight, Twins or SM!

I accidentally clicked the wrong game mode yesterday and ended up in a regular match… it was a tunnelling Hag who got a basement hook and you can pretty much guess the rest. Not fun.

  • Yeah sadly so, it is a daily thing and happens multiple times a day.

I don't care if survivors do this as it puts you are a disadvantage but killer using high ping is disgusting and should not be possible

  • Just had another killer from another region exploiting ~250ms ping, I don't really check ping until I get hit 20 feet through windows or just plain questionable hits and sure enough, every time it is some scummy exploiter with excessive ping.

I wish there was some indication of killer ping in the lobby, as I would be more than happy to sit and wait until I find a lobby where I am going to have a fair match.

  • In OCE?

I think this is a far more common thing than it should be and it happens all over the world and it damn well shouldn't :(

  • I was hating it tbh but I realised that it has been VERY nice to have not seen a single Trickster, Twins, Knight, SM or Chucky since they aren't in this mode. It makes me kind of dread going back to normal mode for that reason alone, even though 2v8 definitely has its own frustrating aspects I still find it less irritating than versing the killers I despise.

It's not the generators and especially not the patrol that creates the pressure, it's chasing survivors.

Patrolling generators implies walking between one to another, and every generator you walk to that a survivor isn't currently working on leaves every survivor able to do generators freely for as long as it takes you to walk to the next generator, rinse and repeat.

Obviously, there's a small degree of gen defence that's necessary for playing well, but you don't need to be walking between them or heavily focusing on damaging them. You just need to know which ones have the most progress, because chasing the survivor working on that one gives you the most time to finish your chase and set your pressure up.

But that is the point of patrolling, you are chasing survivors and you should only be chasing survivors where gens are so you can interrupt other survivors on gens.

You find your chases from patrolling gens, you know where survivors are going to be or where they are returning to by keeping track of gen progress. Survivors tend to return to a gen with progress and altering your patrol based on where survivors are going is the smart way to play.

  • The worst I versed was two killers both with ~250ms ping, clearly not from my region but living at the same address. One was a Huntress and the other Wraith and the match was impossible as hatchets were hitting me from 20 feet away and the Wraiths hits were impossible to avoid as they also hit from so far it was close to impossible to out play them.

I play on other servers with ExitLag but never killer and I never goto servers where my ping would exceed 200. I feel that for survivor it generally puts me at a disadvantage as I cant greed anything and I get hit around corners with Hatchets and 10 feet through a window I already vaulted.

I never play killer on other servers as I feel it would be completely immoral and I do consider it exploiting.

I get the same way as I rewatch Puppers and old Monto stuff. All the feels!

True, I used to watch both back in the day too! No0b was always my fav though and I still think he is the best YouTube video maker for DBD

  • You still need to patrol, just decide what gens you wont contest such as the single ones in an isolated corner, then you have a smaller area to patrol and pressure.

Killers who don't protect gens tend to lose, the ones who are very conscious of where gens are at feel like they are all over you constantly and it creates a lot of pressure.

“The main reason? No killers like Knight, Trickster, SM or Chucky etc.”

Don’t forget about twins. I think they are the worst to face

Oh yes, they are in my top most hated, how could I forget them!?!

  • I really miss old DBD, the jank and the imbalance was bad but it somehow also resulted in more character. Shiny and new isn't necessarily more endearing imo, I also hate versing a lot of the new killers too.

One things about 2v8 that I have enjoyed is none of the killers I really hate are in that mode, just like the early DBD days. I was watching old No0b3 vids this week too and the nostalgia was hitting me hard

  • I do think the amount of aura reading in the game is absurd at this point and it is going to be really difficult for new players to understand when and why a killer can see their aura.

Hell I am a pretty experienced player and I cant keep track of the perks and addons that reveal me anymore

  • Well I hated this mode but it has grown on me.

The main reason? No killers like Knight, Trickster, SM or Chucky etc.

I find being double teamed by killers who cant catch me 1v1 frustrating and I dislike no MMR as the team mates I get are clearly way less experienced. But man it has been nice not seeing a single one of the killers I hate during this event

  • It isn't at all killer sided, the problem is survivors often don't do gens, they waste time on chests and dull totems, when they get injured many will hide in the corner instead of at the very least moving to safer gen. Team mates make bad decisions like pushing into an unhook in front of a medic, running the killer to a gen they can clearly see is being worked on and they will single heal while someone sits in a cage nearby instead of unhooking and group healing.

I have had team mates leave me hooked to open a chest at one gen left… team mates also go down instantly and they often never look behind them, so when you pop up in a cage where they literally just ran past, they don't unhook as they don't see you because they never look behind them at all.

This mode is entirely survivor sided, when I play with competent friends or get lucky and get a random team who actually is competent, the match is a bloodbath for killers 99% of the time. Only the top 1% of killers can deal with a team who are aggressive with gens and are competent players who make smart decisions.

It's like, "Hey! You found a medkit! Now you're wasted time will make up for the teammate you let get hooked for free!" They don't understand that doing gens, no matter what, is the best play. Searching chests, you're risking so much for so little. It literally could give you the opposite item of what you're looking for. But people still do it, all the time and constantly. It's maddening.

I think its because casual minded players simply don't understand how important every second is in DBD.

At this point I have given up as team mates constantly sabotage the team for chests and pointless dull totems, getting annoyed is just raising my blood pressure and nothing changed.

So my solution? I cant beat them so I have joined in sabotaging my team with wasting time on chests, if the team is good and they do gens we can survive and despite me (and many others) wasting time, we still get out… sometimes.

  • @steezo_de said:

I absolootly lute chests because I want that flashlight. Flashlight saves are the funnest survivorly thing to do in this mode besides rebuilding pallets. That or scamming people out of the loot pickup.

And how often do you get a flashlight first chest and how many saves do you actually get vs chests searched?

Then how many gens could you have completed in the time you wasted?

I guarantee that you are sabotaging your team more than helping

  • It doesn't seem to make sense but it mostly works out, oh and BHVR added a ton more chests which act as slowdown as survivors cant help but sabotage their team by opening chests constantly instead of doing gens.

  • I think it is more a case of Nurse being broken relative to the skill, or lack thereof, of the average survivor.

I mained Nurse for years and I have to say the majority of survivors are absolutely clueless, so much so I actually would get my ass kicked when I faced actual good survivors simply because I became so lazy and complacent from versing clueless survivors over and over, when I faced actual good survivors it caught me by surprise and I was unfit due to lazy matches prior.

A good Nurse is very difficult to deal with but in my experience most of the Nurses I verse cant even land a hit on me but my team mates go down instantly. So to me the problem with Nurse is that the majority of the player base are casuals who are not equipped with the skills to deal with her.

So for that reason I would like her changed a bit, as I personally stopped playing her as it gets boring winning over and over against survivors who have no ability to counter you.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

    Not everyone is playing casual

This is the problem with 1v4 and it spills over into 2v8 as well. There are casual players who don't care about winning and the more serious players who do care about efficiency and winning. Two separate queues for each type of playstyle would never work, so it stays as it is and the two groups are mixed together so neither is happy.

Looping, getting gens done, and escaping gives more BP than doing pointless side objectives and then dying.

Looping only gives points if you're good at it; if you're not good at looping, or if the killers tag team you, you get very few points for chase. Gens don't give many points unless you're doing co-op (anecdotally, when my friend was playing 2v8, every time he tried to co-op the other teammate ditched the gen). Escaping is the big rewarder of points, but it requires escaping. Many players assume they won't escape. Chests don't reward that many Bloodpoints, but bones do reward a good amount of Bloodpoints.

If you think you're going to die no matter what you do, bones and altruism are the point earners.

    Yeah this.

I would not say I am hardcore but I find winning fun, so I play my best and I play for the team and I do acknowledge it is partially a 'me problem' in that I find the selfishness and stupidity of random team mates very difficult to be patient with in this mode.

Either way it is a losing battle really, I have to find a psychological method for coping lol

As I realise from match after match and some comments here that people think doing chests genuinely helps you and your team in the long run, when in my experience it does nothing but help the killers and most of the people opening chests are the same selfish players who will hide rather than unhook you and will open a chest only to reject the item in it anyway, as a nearly complete gen regresses right next to them.

I guess I am a more serious player than many as I at least attempt to win.

  • @SAWII said:

Cleansing a full totem is worth 1000 blood points. Add another 250% and that’s 3,500 points for just 14 seconds of bone slamming. If I do escape, I get to keep my item for free. Yeah, I’m gonna keep doing bones and chests in addition to gens.

People who care more about points than wins are just as valid as people who care more about wins than points. My advice to OP would be: stop policing others’ playstyles. I think you’ll be happier.

I really hope I don't get you as a team mate!

Oh and it isn't about "policing others playstyles" it is the fact it is a team effort and when you contribute nothing of use to your team then it usually results in nobody getting out.

When I have teams where everyone slams gens, it is a decisive victory pretty much guaranteed. When I have team mates who waste time on chests and totems… nobody gets out and your item from the chest did nothing for anyone including you.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3841332#Comment_3841332

Not everyone is playing casual, especially not playing so casual that it's at the cost of winning. That's what these teammates are doing, and it's why putting in totems, and SO MANY chests in this mode was a huge design flaw. They won't even succeed in getting BP by doing what they're doing. Looping, getting gens done, and escaping gives more BP than doing pointless side objectives and then dying.

I full believe the chests were put in very intentionally to help killers.

    @Halloulle said:

Agree on the dull totems - disagree on the chests.

Chests have toolboxes very often and if it shows that survs won't be able to push a gen through then searching a chest or two to get a toolbox (instead of starting on a gen, getting somewhere, getting interrupted and starting from zero again when you get back) and be able to greed that gen (especially if you're a guide and can dump both the tb and your ability into the gen at an opportune moment) makes a huge difference.

Opening chests is also a viable thing to do when you want to stay in an area of the map; be that because a surv is going to be hooked closeby momentarily or because otherwise too many survs end up in one corner of the map. - Sometimes waiting a moment is the best thing to do in 2v8. - Especially when you know killers patrol the gens in a certain area; don't start that gen for five or ten seconds and then get into a chase with your aura revealed around a gen that ought to get completed (e.g. to avoid too many gens in clustered together) - just stay away from that gen, open a chest, maybe even get a tb and get on that gen after a killer checked it.

I mean sure, you say this but my (of course) anecdotal experience doesn't really match this.

I find pretty much every match where team mates are prioritising chests, we lose and are lucky if anyone gets out. In an ideal scenario they save a toolbox to power through at the ideal time with the repair boost but in my experience they empty the toolbox as they get it, or they just outright leave it if it is brown one so that time was completely wasted.

Otherwise they get medkits which may help but often group heals are the far more efficient option, especially with medics (my preferred role as team mates go down so fast).

I had a team mate leave me caged to open a chest nearby, while we had one gen done with one closest to us at more than half. I am not exaggerating at all and while this is a particularly egregious example, the lack of any real MMR makes this kind of thing far more common than normal matches.

  • I feel the complete opposite, 2v8 is incredibly frustrating mostly because I feel that MMR is all but off to ensure fast matchmaking.

I find team mates infuriating, more so than regular solo queue and I deeply dislike being double teamed by killers who individually could not down me at all. It doesn't feel like an upgrade to me as all nuances of the chase and the tension is lost in the chaos.

I will take the extra BP but I will be very happy when this mode is over.

  • I haven't had an AFK killer but I have had AFK team mates and a couple who DC'd and no joke, the bot that replaced them was more use than they were lol

  • I have been saying for years that they need to do something about the 'slugging for the 4k' thing, or in this case I guess it is slugging for the 8k.

Too often in normal matches I have been left slugged for 4 minutes at the end of a match because a killer slugs for the 4k and my random team mate will rat it out rather than pick me up (in fairness I am being used as bait some of the time).

I have been asking for a concede option where you can give the win to the killer and go onto the next match. Being forced to endure 4 minutes of not being able to do anything on a regular basis is not a great experience

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

That you get feedback only means that someone worked on your Report. It can also just mean that someone maybe read it and closed it without action.

But agreed, griefing should be punished. Just came out of a 2v8-Match as Killer where the other Killer decided to sandbag me the whole game by bodyblocking. Reported it with a video and I really hope that something will be done. (Just imagine sitting in a queue for over 20 minutes just to sandbag…)

Oh I see, well that is disappointing then.

I would rather they only notify if they actually took action but oh well…

  • The worst thing I have had is a Huntress and Wraith who were both on +250ms Ping, that should be illegal imo

  • Report stuff like that, I was surprised I got a notification action had been taken when I reported a couple of survivors griefing us and the killer (not unhooking, hiding in the basement and taking the game hostage) so they do act on these.

I didn't send in footage either but the survivors were not the smartest and essentially admitted to what they were doing in chat lol

  • @smurf said:

Oh, please do not do this. 2v8 amplifies most of my least favorite things about DBD and gets rid of the things I enjoy.

    Agree

I do it for the BP but overall I kind of hate this mode tbh.

I would like to keep the option to select random perks (like in Chaos Shuffle) in normal matches rather than having to use a 3rd party side to ranomise them for me. But I definitely do not want to see 2v8 any more often than it already is featured

  • @Sandt1985 said:

I think people still say the game is survivor sided because for the first 6.5 years of this games life, it WAS survivor sided. Thats not even remotely up for debate. And after that many years, thats a hard stigma to get rid of. However, in recent years, the game has become much more balanced in recent years. Personally, I think the game is in the best state its ever been in, bugs and glitches not withstanding

Game is definitely at the most balanced state it has been in its history, though of course it can never truly be balanced as is the nature of an asymmetrical game.

It can depend on map, RNG and builds but I feel like at least versus solo queue, the game is killer sided at the lower levels and at the highest level of play I feel it is survivor sided.

If they actually had stricter matchmaking and people were just bodyblocking hits while slamming gens killers would probably average like 2-3k trying their hardest tunneling. The mode is basically saved by 50% of people in matches doing their own thing.

Yeah for sure, some matches it feels like most of my team mates are hopeless and go down instantly, heal constantly and make chests a priority over everything else.

Just classic dbd matchmaking play survivor and people are comatose then play killer and you have to study comp matches on 2nd monitor to get more than a 4-5k. I think the amount of people goofing off and still managing to get all the gens done before the first 2-3 kills says a lot about the modes balancing.

It can go either way, if I get REALLY lucky and get a team who actually do gens then the killers will have a hard match.

But lucky for the killers, most matches are probably not that hard as it seems most of my team mates go down instantly and they all seem to love doing chests and dull totems.

I swear the devs added to many chests as a form of optional slowdown to help killers and it works. I cannot understand the logic of wasting time on chests until the gens are done. What is the point if you're never going to get out anyway?! '

Ugh… ranting at this point but I just find this mode so frustrating and it raises my blood pressure a lot.

You must be getting unlucky or something, as every once in a while I get a team that actually does gens. However most of my random team mates seem to think chests are more important than gens. It is so frustrating, I hate this mode but I play it because of the BP incentive

2 killers on you should be 7 survivors on uncontested generators. It's hard, but that's where the magic is imo.

The kicker for me is moreso about the teams you kinda get; tons of inefficiency in 2v8 sometimes when there shouldn't be. Curse you, Mr. Dull Totem! The bane of my existence, I tell ya.

SHOULD be yes but so many times I see literally nobody on a gen and it is infuriating to me, inefficient is an understatement.

I feel that MMR is effectively off as I guess matching 8 survivors has to be far less strict and it really shows. Killers going around the map paired up is a losing strat for sure as they obviously have no map pressure doing that but if nobody is doing gens what does it matter?

I find 2v8 infuriating, team mates hiding, not doing gens, making opening chests a priority, cleansing dull totems and I just had a match where a Meg left me caged to go and hide the corner - I mean she literally ran past me while not even being chased!

I will take the bonus BP but I cant wait for this mode to be over in all honesty

  • For the love of god please no!

I hate this mode personally, I only do it because the incentive is large and the queues are faster but I would take standard mode with actual MMR any day.

2v1 is infuriating, team mates are clueless and all the subtle nuances of the game are lost in this mode. Oh and nothing feels worse to me than being double teamed by 2 killers who individually could not catch me. Skill does not matter in that case and I find that frustrating.

Let's keep it as a once in a while event… please!

1 … 11 12 13 14 15 … 49
