  • I feel very different, I find it frustrating as I am matched with anyone and everyone and team mates clearly have no idea what they are doing a lot of the time.

Having skill is not rewarded if the killers double team you, there is no skill involved as a single survivor cant deal with 2 killers unless the killers are absolutely awful. I have escaped from killers as they cant catch me many times and for me it feels really bad when those killers get me simply because I got caught out in a 2v1 where skill does not matter. Having 5k hours in game means nothing either

I only play this event for the BP in all honesty, I find it more frustrating than enjoyable

  • I am not reading all that but I will say I can totally understand if you have a DC or someone goes next at 5 gens, it is reasonable to want to move on, as a 3v1 at 5 gens is pretty much a lost cause and a waste of time unless the killer is absolutely useless.

It does frustrate me when team mates unhook me when the match is clearly over, it just wastes my time and keeps me in a pointless match

  • I actually prefer the normal game mode, I just do 2v8 for the BP incentive and faster queues since more people seem to play it.

Getting double teamed by 2 killers who cant individually catch me does not feel good to me personally. It removes a lot of the nuances of play for me but hey, I will just go with it and take the extra BP and look forward to it ending

  • Yeah I agree, it is absolutely ridiculous at times.

I am an adult, I don't need nannying censorship to hide naughty words for me, unlike many people I can handle offensive words and phrases.

Even then, if they have to censor obvious slurs etc then fine, however as we all know, many of the words and phrases that end up censored make literally no sense at all and it can make even a friendly chat close to impossible and incredibly frustrating

  • Honestly I have felt like this event is mostly pointless and I only play that queue as survivor (I rarely play killer at all at present) because it is faster and has the matchmaking bonus more often than the normal queue.

I wont complain when its over tbh, not to be a whinger as I will take the free cosmetics etc any time they are there but I feel like I just ignore pretty much everything in this event and play like a regular match.

  • Some days on DBD are just awful, on those days I just close the game and play something else.

Sometimes I close the game for months at a time

  • I gave up trying to keep my 100% achievements on Steam with this game because they keep adding DLC.

I like to try to get the 100% achievement for games but once I have done them I don't want to have to keep doing it because they keep adding more

  • I actually tried running it for a specific build I was doing and I think that it is still okay, I got a lot of value out of it and even not being the first in chase due to Lethal can be a game changer too, as you're a less appealing chase compared to someone already hooked so your chances of escaping are a bit higher.

If you have an aggressive play style you can get great value when stealth is helpful such as with Nowhere to Hide on a gen you are nearly finished etc.

The perk just isn't a no brainer anymore and it doesn't reward being a rat and hiding while your team takes all the aggro

  • The new ability to mori the last survivor has definitely made this worse, I am very sick of being slugged while the killer spends 4 minutes trying to find my random solo queue team mate who refuses to pick me up and just hides it out.

  • I like to do a Head On followed immediately by a flashbang blind combo lol.

In all fairness, the vast majority of killers either just take it on the chin or they even have a good sense of humour about it. However some get VERY upset over this and they will tunnel, camp and bleed me out in retaliation.

Which I think is pretty sad but it goes with the territory so I kinda expect it

  • Hatch is the problem I agree but hatch isn't going anywhere unfortunately.

Which is why I would like the ability to move on rather than have 4 minutes of my time wasted over and over.

  • Survivors were always bad as most people are casual survivor players, this is nothing new at all.

What has happened over the years is maps and the admittedly broken survivor second chance perks have been nerfed hard (most needed to be) so the game is far more killer sided than ever before, even if killers have seen some more broken perks nerfed too.

Not advocating DCing but the influx of really unfun killers (Knight, Chucky, SM, Trickster, Twins etc) has not helped the situation as no matter what you implement, you cant force players to stay in matches and many of the newer unfun killers seem to almost guarantee someone will go next.

Solo queue is pretty rough these days, I would say I die 90% of matches now

  • I gotta say, I started in Jan 2019 with just under 5k hours over my accounts (I don't share progress or link to BHVR) that solo queue is pretty rough these days.

I would say my escape rate is down to maybe 10% when I am running an efficient solo queue build.

Dying 90% of the time started to get a bit depressing and I was not having fun, so I decided to switch up what I want out of matches and instead I now always run Head On, Flashbangs and Blastmine and instead of caring about escaping I go for maximum stuns and blinds in a match.

I would say my escape rate hasn't reduced that much from a pure solo queue sweat build and I at least get a laugh out of constantly hitting killers with a very annoying Head On into Flashbang blind combo lol

  • One thing that made DBD appeal to me was the absence of voice chat, as people being able to speak just opens up so many more possibilities for toxicity and the last thing I want to hear is some 10 year old kid screaming abuse in my ear when I am trying to relax in a game.

I sincerely hope they NEVER add voice chat to DBD!!

Once more idv has the surrender option for both sides if games are going south and no one is punished, whoever surrender the opposing side keeps all their points and other side still keep whatever they made.

Yeah I am okay with this, I feel keeping people in matches that are done, especially (as per thread topic) for 4 minutes where they can no longer play the game is not fun or fair.

I don't want easy outs, I just don't want my time wasted due to a mechanic killers are playing around.

  • At the highest level with an experienced and coordinated SWF on comms the game is very much survivor sided, which is why survivors are so limited in perk choices in comp matches.

The game used to still be quite survivor sided at the middle level and killer sided at the low end as baby survivors are hopeless at using map resources efficiently.

But I feel that the game has gradually become quite killer sided below high level players, of course some maps and RNG can sway that a bit but much of what made the game very survivor sided has been eroded away over the years.

While not as good as a systemic fix, I recommend running Plot Twist.

Slugging is very powerful right now in general. Any time you're about to go down, I recommend using Plot Twist to put yourself in the dying state. It will force the killer to have to pick you up.

It'll most likely dissuade the killer from slugging you for the 4k, too.

But why should I have to be reduced to 3 perks to choose from to avoid a crappy game mechanic?

Not attacking you for suggesting this but over the years there have been all kinds of ridiculous build suggestions to counter perks/mechanics that ultimately got nerfed/changed

  • @MrMori said:

I've always though that maybe alongside hatch, another object would always spawn in main building or basement or something that the killer can interact with to "offer" the 3 souls they sacrificed and kind of "end" the game on their own terms, letting the last survivor get an escape, but the killer get a BP bonus. Like a way to quickly end the game once you've killed 3 players without needing to go hunting for hatch or the last survivor.

Make the animation to offer the souls satisfying, give a nice sacrifice points bonus to the killer for doing it to really show that the killer wins. That might incentivize killers that slug to secure a 4k to be content with 3k cause they've officially "won".

I just want a concede option, I don't care if the killer gets an incentive or whatever, I just don't want to be stuck in a match on the ground for 4 minutes while my team mate waits it out for hatch.

  • I don't experience that many cheaters (dunno why people calls these fools hackers, they couldn't hack their way out of a paper bag), I have experienced survivors repeatedly accusing of hacks just because they cant seem to understand game sense/experience makes their movements predictable and their likely location obvious.

Not saying this is the case for OP but I know I have been accused of cheating plenty of times

  • I feel like a lot of killers have been sweatier and resorting to unfun tactics even before this event. Which is kinda surprising as I feel like the game is more favourable to killers than it ever has been, the high level is still survivor sided as it always has been but I feel like even with a lot of the broken survivor stuff being nerfed, killers are worse than ever

  • I have been getting 200% on survivor but it doesn't last very long. The incentives do feel a bit less generous lately

  • As someone who uses ExitLag to play survivor in other regions I don't want high ping banned, at least for survivor.

However I do fully acknowledge that playing killer knowing you have high ping is a pretty scummy thing to do, as it most definitely does give an advantage.

However as survivor I find when I ExitLag to other regions (NA in particular) it puts me at a distinct disadvantage, as I cant greed pallets, perks like Head On or Dead Hard are very difficult to time due to ping and I frequently get hit 10 feet from a vaulted window or through a pallet I dropped long before I get hit.

So to sound like a completely biased survivor main - I am fine with blocking high ping killers but not survivor lol

  • Bots read your actions and react accordingly which makes them quite unlike a real opponent and not as fun, as you cant mind game a bot which is a big part of the fun of playing against real people.

That being said I think the bots are a fantastic tool if you want to learn how to play a killer and to learn their mechanics without the stresses of live matches and bots wont teabag you at the exit while you get your head around a complex killers mechanics too

  • I play for Head On into Flashbang stuns and pulling off Blastmine stuns.

I only solo queue (I stopped playing killer entirely as it stresses me out) and current solo queue is tough, I find with the current meta I die maybe 90% of my games despite being an experienced player, with nearly 5k hours between accounts.

I stopped playing to 'win' as that is just frustrating, instead I play for fun and I find flashbangs, Head On etc fun. Talking about where I am at mentally, I found trying to win in solo queue is a road to misery and was making the game very unfun for me so I decided to change my mentality and what I want out of matches

I play about 50/50 survivor/killer, and I feel that nerfing Distortion was a terrible decision by the devs. They essentially eliminated stealth playstyle as an option for survivors who prefer to play that way, either because they enjoy it more or because they aren't great at looping. It's really frustrating that perks get nerfed not because they are OP (which old Distortion was not), but because they are "used too frequently". Nobody ever bothered considering that the reason it was used frequently is because it is the only way to viably play a stealth playstyle due to the crazy amount of aura reading abilities available to killers now.

Yeah I don't understand it, particularly when buffing so many aura perks/addons over the last while.

I get why killers find stealth playstyle annoying as survivors who constantly hide can make for boring plays but on the other hand I also get it and I don't feel the need to tell these players how they should enjoy the game.

I spent a lot of my first hours in the game absolutely terrified and hiding (lol) and avoiding chases whenever possible and I still had fun doing that, believe it or not. I ended up being the complete opposite thousands of hours later but I personally don't hate immersed players as I get it…. just so long as they do the damn gens I am fine with taking chase

If you were a Distortion user you'd know the perk is still pretty strong. It's only a problem for survivors hiding all the time.

I have used distortion, I know it can be strong and I do know it is also used (or abused?) by survivors who hide rather than interact. That is boring in itself and not fun for killer either… but there has to be a middle ground surely?

Well either way it doesn't matter now as they essentially killed Distortion so I guess the aura reading meta is in full swing now.

  • I do find it weird how they completely gutted Distortion but seem to be buffing everything aura for killer. I am not a Distortion user by default, there are far more useful perks, however when I have used it the one thing I did notice is how often you get (or got) value out of it due to the sheer amount of aura perks in the game lately.

Then you get other matches with a killer like say Trapper, where you got zero value as Trappers don't tend to run full aura builds. The worst part is the killers that can take full advantage of this free info are often the ones that really don't need it.

With the insane amount of perks and addons in the game now, it can be hard to even realise that your aura is being exposed or even killer instinct is giving up your positional advantage. It is not what I would call a fun or highly interactive meta we are entering

  • I find it weird they seem to keep buffing aura perks but they gutted Distortion at the same time.

For the record, I was a Nurse main for years (from 2019 - 2022) and I also don't use Distortion but I think allowing full aura builds on a killer like Nurse is absolutely insane.

  • In all honestly on most days the majority of matches are okay but of course there are 'those' players on both sides but the one I strike a lot lately is the killer player who goes into matches with the whole 'I am not responsible for your fun' attitude. This seems to give them a free pass to completely disregard any concept of empathy for others and as a result they will tunnel and camp even when there is absolutely no necessity and be put out when they end up playing against a lobby of bots because nobody wants to humour them.

I think it is a vicious circle too, I versed a streamer yesterday who played like this and boy did this dude have PTSD from bad matches and he treated every casual solo queue survivor as if they were comp players, he tunnelled and proxied everyone even when I threw myself at him to give him another option over tunnelling the poor girl he already tunnelled.

He spoke the classic "I am not responsible for your fun" line and when you forget you are playing with other people and you lack any empathy for the other side, this is what happens and I watched him get stream sniped and bullied as a result - creating the circle of misery he himself is an active part of.

  • This is happening to me on every map, I have a couple of different models of Hyper X headset and I noticed that after some time playing some of the sounds become very muffled for me too. Checking out your vids it seems I have the exact same issue going on, restarting the game fixes it but it continually comes back after anywhere from a few matches to a few hours in game and I have tried other games but it is only happening in DBD

  • I can understand killers finding it frustrating but I think it is a necessary evil for the constant influx of new players for whom it makes the new player experience so much better.

I don't even use the perk myself but I don't want it nerfed, I think they need to stop this whole thing of buffing everything to make every perk and mid tier killer as strong as each other.

  • I personally don't see this as even a slight issue, especially not while the potential to be slugged for 4 minutes with no way out exists if a killer desperately wants a 4k. Now that is a time waster I wish they would finally deal with…

  • Another for Knockout and Franklin's, as Knockout in particular is never used for anything but the most toxic intentions and Franklin's just feels like a petty mean spirited perk more than a necessary perk. I do feel that if you're so scared of items that you feel you need Franklin's, there may be bigger issues with your strats than dealing with items

  • Yeah it drives me absolutely insane how censored it is and as everyone knows the censorship is often absolutely absurd and hard to understand the logic behind.

I am an adult, I have lived through far more than slurs and abuse and I don't need others hiding mean words from me. They should make it optional rather than treat me like a child, when I have my own child as it is!

  • Without a complete ground up redesign, she is always going to be SM and the entire killer is just not fun to verse. Not excusing DCing or whatever but it is what it is

  • I think Windows is a necessary evil in all honesty, the game is just too much for new players and Windows does a lot to mitigate the disadvantage for new survivors.

I don't use Windows at all as I think after a point it becomes counter productive for learning maps and developing good game sense and while I am not a competitive player, I still prefer to improve.

I don't think Exhaustion perks are the plague on killers they once were, especially Dead Hard which was a nightmare before it finally got nerfed as it should have.

  • I don't particularly have any issue with that, at least I am passively getting 5k BP when I will be playing anyway. I am a sucker for the cosmetics for 'free' so I only really care up to the last actual tier anyway. The rest is just whatever to me

  • It's why I was using Distortion for quite a while at one point, I am not chase shy I just got sick of every locker open or gen kick revealing me so I could not sneak a save or finish a gen that was nearly done before taking aggro.

Its just another consequence of the perk bloat from releasing so many DLC's and perks, it creates an absolute nightmare of perks to counter and keep track of

  • Only reason I dislike them is I find there is a tendency for many killers to go out of their way to hard tunnel that second hook to get that mori. I would prefer to dodge if possible…

  • @steezo_de said:

    Twins, Knight, Xeno, Chuckie, Nemesis.

I agree with this list, I used to not mind Nemi but after his buff I feel like he borders on broken at tier 3 now. Xeno would not be so bad but some of his tail hits are just so BS it makes me enjoy him (it?) less

I would add Trickster to this list too…

  • I do think it is sad that playing 'fair' can often get you nothing but disrespected in return.

I have been left feeling very angry after dealing with 'those' survivors and sworn I will never let another survivor go and I will not be nice again…. only to find myself letting the cute survivor go yet again in the very next match lol.

I don't think I have the right ruthless mindset to be a true killer main for that reason

  • I will be open about why I personally go next - NOT promoting or encouraging it, just being honest:

    1. If the killer will slug and tunnel/camp at 5 gens then I feel like they want the win more than I want to play with someone who thinks they are in a tournament.
    2. There are a small number of killers I absolutely despise playing against, I am not able to dodge or block being queued with them so I am forced to play matches I don't want to play. I try to do what I can so I don't let my team down but it is hard to find the motivation to want to play a SM/Trickster/Twins match and put my all into it.
    3. As killer if the survs seem more interested in BM than actually doing their objectives, I would personally rather be out of that match than put up with babysitting 4 children

However even as I admit I do sometimes DC (though not that often), even I am left wondering why on earth some people DC and I don't think there is a way to solve some of these as they make no logical sense (people are weird).

  • I have a good friend who is a small time streamer and he was being constantly stream sniped by cheaters doing the same thing that has been highlighted in a recent video we are probably all familiar with.

No matter if he went anon, changed his name or hid his lobbies they always got his lobbies and were ruining his stream. Thankfully they seem to have bored of harassing him every night as he is pretty strong willed and didn't let it show that it was bugging him.

I would like to see a solution to this as I am sure the actual streamers would too!

  • I dunno about where you live but where I live, to make things even worse is this killer appeals to troll players who know how much survivors hate her. So they intentionally play her to troll and they play in the most miserable and scummy way possible and this happens over and over, so it is very hard to not assume that people aren't playing with good intentions of a normal match, as they very much aren't a lot of the time

  • The problem is the entire design of the killer is unfun and without a complete rework from the ground up, she is still going to be deeply hated by survivors and the giving up/DC's will unfortunately continue.

So the next best thing BHVR could do is nerf her into the ground so the number of people who want to play her is minimal… and I am all for this strategy as versing SM is one of the most miserable experiences in the game for me personally.

  • Legion doesn't need any buffs, Legion is a noob/casual stomper and the majority of the player base are casual/low skill players.

I am getting tired of this tendency to buff mid tier killers that don't need it, now Nemesis is the latest very over-tuned killer that didn't need the buff so let's not do this with an annoying killer like Legion. Please.

  • Personally I am so glad they are nerfing her, it is a smart way of dealing with a big problem they created.

Other than a complete and total rework, SM is always going to cause DC's and giving up on hook and they cant just say 'whoops sorry we messed up here' and delete a character people paid for, so the next best thing is make her less appealing to play by nerfing her.

She is kind of a free win at present, as someone inevitably gives up making it a 3v1, which is reflected in her artificially inflated kill stats - people just give up so she wins by default.

  • @TinyTenzin said:

Dead Hard was most infuriating thing to deal with on killer side, its still strong if you can time correctly. Buffing it will make it annoying again, so no, please no buffs for DH.

Totally agree, even as a survivor main.

DH was the bane of all killers for many years and it was a completely unfair perk that gave what is essentially a free health state for literally nothing. It should stay as it is and I strongly oppose any buffs to it.

I don't think new players realise just how game breaking this perk was back in the day

  • What killer are you playing out of interest? I tried to see in the comments but could not tell… certain killers are going to result in a high chance of DCs. Not encouraging it or saying it is right but it is what it is….

  • The thing is, unless you are experienced you will never understand the importance of taking a hook state to force the killer to have to share hook states and I still see the same thing every so often - a survivor who brags they didn't get hooked at all so they are somehow superior because they got hatch.

Its frustrating but its something I realised with some stoicism, that we will never fix as there is a constant influx of new players
