Maybe it's the other way around and a bunch of new people, returner or "survivor camp traitors" (😜) have stuck with killer after the 2vs8 or something in that line.

    Hey possibly

It is just weird as I never really had this situation before and not so frequently

  • @SidneysBane1996 said:

There's actually a lot of reasons besides "Survivor is just that miserable." Your Killer incentive and wait can change based on:

    • Time of day you play
    • How many people are on
    • If there's enough people in your server area who are within your MMR
    • If there's a mode or event coming
    • If more people in your area just prefer to play Killer
    • If there's an incentive bonus - currently incentives appear to be broken, so ignore this
    • If it's end of the season/rank reset or not

And so on. It's not all just "Survivor is miserable" because clearly enough people are playing to give you rounds.

Proud of you for branching out and playing both sides too. More people should.

It isn't that I haven't played a lot of killer, I have around 5.5k hours in the game, mostly on survivor for sure but I have played a lot of killer too. I just don't enjoy the role that much.

I mean, people can claim this and that reason but I have been playing this game for a long time and it is pretty obvious something is up as survivor queues were never this quick

I'm with you on that. A rework would be in not only my interest, but in the interest of the game as well. Her power has proven over and over again to be a open wound, bottlenecking map-and perkdesign.

However, I don't think a rework is happening tbh. It's been over 8 years at this point.

In the rare occasion that I do play Nurse, I set myself a challenge. Something like:

    • only two usages of power after getting a hook
    • No blink at all
    • No perks

It, more often than not, makes the games more interesting for both sides.

I like to play her with no perks, or crap perks or a selection of perks that mess with terror radius.

I also used to like sending myself to Lery's and using the matchbox, though tbh even that can be quite strong as you can pretty much just walk them down and blink on them anyway.

I would like to feel like I can play her again though, so my motivation for a rework is somewhat selfish

You can still nerf her. Aura reading while blinking eliminates the little amount of "counterplay" that "exists". It makes Mindgames impossible and reduces the chase to an: can the Nurse Player connect two dots.

She should not be able to see auras while charging a blink / using it. Aura read should be suppressed, not completely cut off mind you. If the aura readung - effect is still active after the usage of her power, survivors should be shown again.

I know, this further limits what perks are useful on her, but I think it's fair regarding that she has no real counterplay in chase.

Your playing a killer that ignores pallets and windows. You have to be lacking in certain aspects. This being exposed and imo, aura reading.

I am actually okay with that, auras on Nurse can be completely broken but I still think perks like BBQ are fine as survivors will still be out of direct blink range and I think BBQ is a healthy perk for the game as it encourages leaving hooks.

But many aura perks can be broken on Nurse for sure and they remove all skill as there is no mind game.

That being said, I think a complete rework would be better in the long run. Nurse was my favourite killer but I feel like I cant play her as it feels cheap and I know people hate her (strong survivors don't seem to but they are the minority, sadly).

If people talk about Nurse-Nerfs, they mean significant Nerfs. And this did not happen. Sorry, when for 8 years now, every Tier List starts with "Nurse is the best Killer"; then something is wrong. There is not even any thought if another S-Tier Killer could be better, there is just no other opinion possible except that Nurse is the best Killer in the game.

Her skill is also really exaggerated. She takes time to learn, this is true. But after a few hours you will be good enough to win almost every game in public matches. And IMO other Killers take more skill to play, especially some which are not even S-Tier.

I personally rarely play her, because winning with her feels effortlessly. I am not winning because I am better than the Survivors, I am winning because Nurse is a design failure which is allowed to exist to this day.

OP is completely correct that every Killer-Nerf is kind of a joke if Nurse is allowed to stay like this. But granted, only a Rework would fix it, because she will either stay broken or become useless if her Numbers are nerfed enough.

You cant nerf her any further than they have though, as she would literally not be able to catch so as I said in the last part of my comment, I would like to see her reworked as she literally cant be nerfed any further and for the record I think making blink attacks special attacks etc was fine as she is incredibly strong

I don't get the logic of 'she has been the strongest for as long as she existed so she should be nerfed', it is similar to how BHVR seems to want to make every perk meta and it's creating a whole new set of obnoxious metas as a consequence. Some perks should be garbage, not all killers need to be buffed and just because one is the top does not mean they have to be gutted either.

I definitely think the amount of antiloop Killers has ruined a lot of the fun of the game. It's way more fun to me to mindgame in chase with a Myers or a Skurchent (gasp!) or a Houndmaster or something than it is to just get hit over a pallet or vault by Xeno or Huntress.

Instead on introducing a bunch of antiloop Killers, BHVR should have fixed maps and nerfed the loops heavily from the start so we never NEEDED all these antiloop Killers.

I definitely think a lot of the skill as Survivor has been automated, particularly certain perks and stuff like Flashlights. it doesn't feel like you have to try, it doesn't feel risky. It just feels like if I put this thing in the right spot or do the right thing with the right perks, I get free second chances and easy wins, and if I don't do those things? Well, then I just get smacked around.

    Agree with all of this!

  • I have said for literally years there needs to be a concede option so paying customers are not forced into a situation where they cannot play the game but they cannot move on from a match that is finished.

It is the same with slugging for the 4k, if your team mate wants to hide it out you're forced to be stuck on the ground for 4 minutes, unable to do anything and you cant leave this tedious non-game or you are penalised.

The kind of gameplay in this is toxic for sure but I think the bigger problem is the game allows this to occur in the first place

  • The game is now killer sided up to the high end where it switches to surv sided, the thing is most survivors are low skill casuals so it is making solo queue particularly miserable at present.

I don't know if it is nerfs that make people stop playing but rather bigger game changes as a whole. I feel like BHVR has released unfun killer after unfun killer and there are too many perks and addons in the game now that suck the fun out of it.

I also feel that the prevalence of anti loop killers or killers that are just unfun to verse such as Chucky or Trickster have added to the misery of modern DBD. I spent thousands of hours learning to loop but that fun style of play is rendered obsolete by Knight etc and it takes away the fun part of the game for many of us.

Also mechanics like flashlights etc being made infinitely easier takes away skill expression for a lot of people and I know a lot of people who left the game due to unfun metas, unfun anti-loop killers and the dumbing down of the game play.

how come nurse doesn't receive 50%-75% movement speed decrease on her blinks but chucky receives -50% m/s on his slice & dice? The scope of the type of changes matters here. either way they silently nerfed chucky.

Because Nurse would never catch a survivor if you did that, holding W is already incredibly effective against Nurse since they got rid of recharge and range addons. Nurse also has a crippling 96.25% walking speed vs survivors… so she literally cannot catch a survivor running in a straight line without blinking and those blinks need to recharge - something that old Nurse never had btw OP.

But I will say I absolutely despise Chucky and I would rather face comp Nurses all day every day, so I am biased there too

Because your definition of "counter" is basically making it to where the killer's perk is destroyed and can't physically be used. We already have a counter, no nerfs needed. It's doing the gens so fast, because the killer has no gen defence, that the killer doesn't have time to use their hex perks. You can do 5 gens against a killer who has no gen defence, and keeps wasting time guarding totems, by the time he's got 5 hooks. So that counters Devour, and if the killer isn't guarding hexes because he sees you're just rushing, you can then do the hexes. It's quite simple. I don't see how this is unwinnable.

I just played against a Singularity who could not even catch me at all in a normal chase and he got dominated right to the last gen where we suddenly got a rude shock that he had Devour and you guessed it, thrill in the broken Otz build.

They won the game because cleansing the totem was literally impossible, despite us clearly all being way above their skill level with the killer.

But this is okay to you and in fact if this is fixed people actually think killers are entitled to be compensated for something game breakingly broken?!

    Make it make sense….

  • You obviously have not been playing DBD for that long if you think Nurse has not been nerfed many times over the years and hasn't been 'touched' at all.

Go and play Nurse then come back and tell me it takes no skill… and as above, while she will destroy most survivor lobbies you don't get there for free. You will be bullied mercilessly for a long time before you get good with Nurse.

The big problem with Nurse is that most of the DBD player base are casual low skill survivors who have no idea how to counter Nurse. As someone who mained her from 2019 until about 2022 I know how to counter her and most of the Nurse players I go against are mediocre to outright bad but my team mates often go down instantly to these terrible Nurses.

I hate to be that guy but this does sound a bit like a 'skill issue' problem

(Edit: that being said, I would like to see Nurse reworked as killers like her and Blight are probably too strong for the low skill majority and it makes matches boring playing them… IF you learn to git gud with them).

  • Yeah solo queue is miserable lately and I am getting a lot of the killers I absolutely despise versing whereas they aren't even in 2v8

I am feeling another break from DBD coming on as I am starting to not have fun at all again

  • I have complained about this for years.

I am an adult and I don't need some company nannying me and preventing me from seeing naughty words. I am more than capable of dealing with this as I guess I am a bit older than many of the perpetually offended and emotional people we have around at present.

Or at the very least either make it optional or just block obvious slurs we all are familiar with.

I try to avoid post game chat but in some matches it can actually be really wholesome and you want to engage with people you had a fun match with but you cant say the most benign things due to inexplicable censorship. It is incredibly irritating and just reminds me how much I despise censorship

Tell me how it's broken. Tell me how a killer is gonna patrol 7 gens and 2-5 totems, and not give up any time or pressure for it. Explain how survivors are mentally juggling more stuff and using more game sense than the killer in that scenario. And I'd agree with you, that hex perks are high risk/high reward. So why be so against them being strong? Like Undying, Thrill is a hex perk... to protect another hex perk. That's like having Bond AND Empathy as survivor, pretty much a waste of a perk slot. But y'all still want to complain about the killer having protection for their perk which gets destroyed forever once cleansed.

We all are aware that this can be exploited combined with other perks and actually impossible to counter with specific killers (as per the Otz video), so unless you propose completely working certain killers and other perks so this one Hex can have an excessively buffed cleanse time attached to it, then the obvious solution is to fix the broken perk.

This isn't just high reward, it is literally an unwinnable game condition for unscrupulous players who will take advantage of broken perk combos/killers and again, you're not supposed to be almost guaranteed that your Hex will stay up. You don't just get to mitigate the risk and the fact you have to run this to support an incredibly strong and game changing perk like say Devour is neither here nor there.

It is completely broken and should never have gone life in the first place.

  • I do understand survivors not wanting to be taken out of the game via Tombstone, it is an unfun addon and as someone who played a lot of Myers I disapprove of it.

That being said, I had a hell of a time with the achievement and while I do understand survivors going into lockers etc, what I found really scummy was that I had survivors literally DC to deny me the achievement. This was long before bots were a thing too, so it just meant I failed instantly after that as I could not just mori a bot instead.

It was actually a Twitch streamer who was kind enough to realise what I was doing and as last survivor he let me have the kill (I watched his VOD back) but boy that achievement was rough.

  • Yeah I had the same with a Nurse that already had me on her shoulders when I loaded into the match.

Someone said to get into a locker to avoid the penalty but I had literally no time to react and I was on a hook before what was happening really registered in my brain lol.

On the positive side, I reported them as did the rest of my lobby and I guess they were banned the next time I logged in as I got a notification action was taken. Doesn't help with the penalties though if you get more than one in a day

The same people will likely come here after TOTH is addressed complaining about survivors being OP, because the perk/builds increased their MMR into a higher bracket and they can't compete without it. I don't know why people embrace busted perks all for the sake of wins. All repeatedly winning does is bring high MMR misery. There's no pile of gold at the end of the SBMM rainbow.

Yeah good point, using broken stuff to put yourself in easy win situations is indeed going to put many of these people in an MMR that they don't belong in and once that broken combo is fixed they are going to have a pretty rough time.

I assume they are lower MMR as I find good players tend to view exploiting broken things as 'cringe' and wont resort to that to get cheap wins

  • Why on earth would you think anyone is entitled to "compensation" because something that is completely broken is corrected lmao?!

A lot of people in these discussions seem to forget Hex perks are high risk/high reward. If you bring Devour for example, you aren't simply entitled to 5 stacks, sometimes your totem gets found and others you do indeed get to mori everyone. This is the trade off with running Hex perks.

Be grateful the totems don't spawn next to gens where survivors spawn or other very obvious places like they did years ago!

  • @brokedownpalace said:

Just went against 3 killers in a row with the exact same build. Thrill, Face the Darkness, Devour Hope and Pentimento.

Is this seriously the vision you have for the game Bhvr? Playing totem cleansing simulator?

Unfortunately there are some very sad people in any game who will hear that something is broken and they will take full advantage of it until the issue is patched out. The sad reality is there are unscrupulous immoral people who have no issue with using something they know is broken, just to gain any advantage possible. BHVR should have killswitched the perk until they fix it.

    @SpitefulHateful said:

Oh no, Hex Totems are finally being useful! Shocking, I know

Hex perks are strong and as a balance they are also high risk; high risk/high reward mechanics.

Thrill is not high risk, just high reward and 45 seconds is an eternity in a game like DBD. You can always count on unethical people to fully exploit something they know is broken and this is exactly what is happening here.

  • I find it really hard to believe this is happening every match, I play OCE, west coast USA and Singapore and I would say it is probably 1 out of 10 matches where I see hardcore intentional tunnelling and maybe 1 in 50 matches where they slug to bleed out etc.

I see more killers proxying hooks and returning to hook constantly but most seem to want to avoid OTR/DS etc and will only tunnel when survivors make themselves the most easy target for it. Some killers will also prefer to chase a survivor who went down very fast previously too, so it can be a skill issue where someone is just the weak link in the killers eyes

  • NOED is fine and I don't think it needs a rework.

That being said, it is definitely a crutch for many killers I encounter, who seem to lack any game sense and make very little effort to preserve gens as they know NOED will reward them with speed and an insta-down. Though I will not look down on someone running it on Bubba or Trapper which are killers I feel it was made for.

But for many it is a crutch that gets them unearned kills for failing to pressure gens and it prevents them from getting better at the game as they will potentially have NOED to compensate later on.

  • I fully admit I am biased being a survivor main these days…

But I would like to see it for killers in particular as I feel that it gives killers such an advantage it borders on exploiting. I use ExitLag to play west coast NA from OCE but I ONLY play survivor and I feel it puts me at a significant disadvantage. As playing survivor at ~160ms ping means I frequently get hit 10 feet through windows and through pallets so I cant greed at all.

I notice playing on NA I get a lot of killers from Asia with 250ms+ ping, when they could be playing Singapore etc and have significantly lower ping. So I find it hard to believe they are not exploiting intentionally

  • I have been asking for a 'concede' option for years but nope, BHVR insists that their paying customers must endure frequent 4 minute bleed out sessions where they cannot play a match and they cannot leave a match that is essentially over or they will face a penalty.

Just had a lovely killer using Knockout to slug everyone and bleed them out (Knockout is another problematic thing in DBD that should not exist) and my only option was to either spend 4 minutes of my time being bled out or take the DC penalty.

Of course the final mori changes have made the slugging for the 4k thing even worse and if you have a selfish team mate who will simply hide, you're yet again stuck in a match for 4 minutes where you are unable to do anything but crawl - hardly compelling game play.

  • @HolyDarky said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/434431/anyone-else-had-a-3-survivor-match

It happened to me during the Halloween Event but only once. Idk what it causes because if the survivor dcs during the loading screen the match should be cancelled. In some situations, the player has a really bad ping, the match starts but then the game cancels it realising there was a dc. But in my match, we've loaded in til the end and in the endgame screen the one player was shown as disconnected.

Yeah it has only happened to me once thankfully, real blast from the past though lol

  • I saw a video a lot of people saw about a current and incoming increase slugging as part of a new slugging meta.

Honestly, I have not seen this at all beyond margin of error occurrences. Some killers are sluggy but no more than usual for me, though I am not saying maybe it is happening more in other regions or something, I am just not experiencing it.

FYI: I play OCE and west coast NA, sometimes I go to Singapore servers too

With how many games are taking advantage of the "classic" versions of them I would not be surprised if DbD would do the same at this point.

It would most likely be a limited time mode, but itd still be cool

I would love a classic mode for sure!

I miss old DBD even though it was very janky and often completely broken. Sometimes refined and updated isn't necessarily more fun

  • @JPLongstreet said:

3 surv matches were always terrible the get back in the day. One less gen to do was not enough right at the beginning to make up for being a surv down. The killer would have to be an utter potato not to easily dominate at that point.

Whenever I'd load into such a trial I would usually farm the rivets right off of my traps trying to get them some bloodpoints, and meme all over the place.

No one should want these kinds of matches back again.

Lol yeah I am going to go with that explanation :P

But seriously, yeah I had more or less forgotten about the old days where you often got 3 or even 2 man matches but this was a flashback from the past lol

  • It can be for killers who like to tunnel out one player for sure but I found I have had limited success with it.

Also, it seems to be a case of Deliverance curse strikes again, where whenever I run the perk I am first found and often the first one they attempt to tunnel out.

I did get value a couple of times but I found that giving a hook state to some survivors really doesn't help that much when they go down again pretty much instantly anyway.

In a coordinated SWF it would absolutely have value and I can't see it being permitted in comp DBD but for solo queue my results were mixed and I went back to running Resurgence and We'll Make It instead, as I found I got more value out of that combo in solo queue.

We went from the gen kick Meta to the MFT meta. Sadly I started playing during that time.

I do not have kind words for people who want busted metas back. We just found a balance. We don't need more broken stuff.

Yeah there have been gross metas on both sides, any killer who played through the original Mettle Of Man days and is still playing the game has a high tolerance for misery. Can you imagine every survivor having a free 3rd chance? And it was pretty much every survivor in a lobby as why would you not run it?

Currently killers are abusing the ridiculous state of Thrill, so hopefully they sort that or at the very least kill switch it in the meantime.

I saw it in action at the very start, in late 2022, but briefly. Wasn't around for most of the madness.

I didn't play DBD for most of 2023, to be honest. Mostly because I was interested in other games at the time. By the time I got back to the game Chucky had just been released and many things had already been changed.

    Lucky.

It was terrible, killers no longer bothered to really chase you, they just returned to gens constantly and it was always the same builds. Like I say, I quit playing for months until they fixed that ######### it was just so bad

  • Rose Marigold is one of my most played survivors, I just liked the cosmetic but I rarely see others running it.

  • @GeneralV said:

From what I've heard, the gen kick meta surpasses current DBD in terms of being easy for killers. But I wasn't here for that, so I am not sure if this is true.

The gen kick meta was miserable, I stopped playing during these dark days

  • This is just so untrue, you obviously never played DBD in it earlier years.

Killers have never had it better, any decent killer won most of their games before but now it is ever easier.

Current solo queue survivor is absolutely miserable and this is made very clear by the fact the incentive is pretty much always on survivor these days.

  • I absolutely DESPISE Nostromo and Toba for this reason and it is a shame as aesthetically I would probably like them a lot. But they have these weird ass bizarre tiles that are incredibly awkward to run and it just makes the maps frustrating more than fun.

I like how BHVR moved away (mostly) from problem combos that were just unfair to killers but can we not have these weird tiles that create a whole new and frustrating problem. I am okay with tiles not all being super safe but can we just stick with normal ones please BHVR?

I absolutely dread loading into Nostromo and Toba

  • I get this a lot and it is in part them being cocky combined with sheer stupidity.

I think it is a kind of flex for some, like 'look at me I don't care if the killer knows where I am as I am cool' but of course information is power in this game, so not revealing your location willingly can be a stupid move. Of course then there are those that indeed want to head on you etc, just ignore them outright (it is like they think you're stupid and don't know what they are trying to do).

One thing I do that may confuse others is against Pyramid Head I will fast vault periodically when far away, as they all seem to run I'm All Ears to I proc it to remove any value they may get in chase (yes I am very annoying lol).

  • I have to admit I find breaking out GF annoying so I dislike him quite a lot but I can tolerate him because other than exposing you, he still has to chase you down like any other killer.

But survivors will DC against anything at times, not sure where you are but watching Streamers I like who are in NA, I notice the number of DC's and giving up first hook is way over what I experience in OCE, to the point it seems to be every second match at least in NA

I must be playing Nurse wrong all this time! 😂

Never had a Nurse do this to me, just two different Myers and a Billy over the years.

As for what the servers see, I'm pretty sure they don't have any sanity checks for DBD, looking for impossibilities in the trials. All that would need to be on the server side, but currently it's all on our side, which i believe the fancy term for is on "client side".

Lol… yeah as a former Nurse main myself, I guess I really need to 'git gud' if that is the standard.

On a positive note, I logged in today to a notification of "action taken" on the only report I submitted recently, so I assume this Nurse is already banned. So to their credit, this Nurse terrorised my region (OCE) for less than a day lmao

Sad thing is, they probably have another Epic account loaded with cheats already but nice to see they took action so quickly either way

  • Oh I was wondering why I got stuff when I logged in lol. Well, I will take free stuff in the game thank you very much!

No, Thrill should be reverted back to 10% as it was fine there.

Idk why BHVR added buff, BBQ didn't get any buff after removing bloodpoints incentive and Prove even got Nerf.

Yep, not every perk needs to be OP and meta in its own right. This buff is insane as 45 seconds in DBD is an eternity and that is before even considering obnoxious perk combos

  • @Xernoton said:

30 seconds match that ends in a 4k. Yet the server doesn't notice anything wrong. Even just picking up and hooking 4 survivors is barely possible in that time.

Why do we not have an auto-ban or flag system for these things? There is literally no way that this would be possible. Even if all the survivors and the killer had spawned in the basement and they tried to end the match as fast as possible it would take longer than this. Even with 4 No Mithers and STBFL it wouldn't work!

I was thinking just this a bit later on too, how crap is an anti-cheat that doesn't register a killer crossing the map instantly while holding a survivor and the match ending in literally 30 seconds as suspicious lol?

I should not be surprised though, as I used to be a Rust enjoyer but that game is absolutely infested with cheaters and EAC also seems useless there too.

  • Well…. I just experienced exactly this. Guess this is the latest hobby for these morons… Hopefully they get banned fast

Oh and I just got a matchmaking ban on top of that… I guess because the game registers me as being AFK since I didn't get to do anything.

    Lovely BHVR, thanks for that.

  • As an experienced survivor main I would say one reason is playing solo survivor is pretty miserable at present. The roster of unfun killers with extremely obnoxious or tedious builds is making the game a bit of a slog, it feels especially onerous after 2v8 for me personally and I am sure I am not alone there.

I stopped playing killer as it stressed me out to the point I realised I was no longer having fun but even I have considered switching to killer, as between the unpleasant killers and team mates giving up survivor feels pretty depressing at present.

  • I really don't understand why BHVR seems to have a recent obsession of buffing every perk imaginable to make them meta. The reality is (in my opinion) with so many perks, some simply have to be little more than meme perks with only niche value at best.

We have all seen how different metas have become a nightmare for the game and changes have had to be made for the health of the game. So making 100+ perks meta in their own right is a recipe for a multi meta nightmare.

All I'm seeing is how survivor players going down in 10-15sec and it's not because the killer player is good.

This has always been the case though (rest not directed at you specifically).

What I am seeing though is a lot of very miserable matches, with excessive slowdowns, obnoxious killer builds and unpleasant play styles from a lot of killers that are making regular matches pretty damn miserable lately.

I am really missing 2v8, where I didn't have to endure obnoxious killers like SM, Twins, Knight, Trickster or Chucky etc, along with no tedious perk builds from both sides.

I have a very low escape rate at present even though I have over 5k hours in the game, mostly because team mates give up, completely throw or outright DC and in some cases and (while I am NOT condoning it) I do kind of understand them wanting out

  • Lol… yeah few more cheaters around lately for some reason
