  • I have to word this carefully to not violate the rules…. Twins is an incredibly obnoxious and unfun killer. Their most efficient way to play is to slug, camp the slug and slug some more and honestly while I cannot obviously advocate people immediately leaving, I am not going to say I don't understand it. Personally I absolutely despise Twins and I would rather have the option to wait in queue for 10 minutes to avoid them, I despise them that much.

SM is just unfun to play against because the fundamental design is irritating, nerfing just reduces her pick rate but doesn't fix the underlying problems.

SM Myers is just tedious, having done this countless times in my 5.5k hours it find it mind numbing beyond belief now. I had the same feeling about Insidious basement camping Bubba before anti camp ruined that - after the millionth time it is just plain tedious and the matches are long and drawn out wars of attrition.

Franklin's is an incredibly obnoxious perk for survivors, I try to be a good sport even when losing but when a killer had Franklin's I have to admit I cant bring myself to be nice post match and give my usual "gg". I rarely bring items anyway as I am an item Goblin but it does honestly make me think less of a killer when they bring this perk.

I don't mind versing Blight or Nurse (though I think both are too strong for regular public casual matches) as the gameplay isn't obnoxious and if they are Godlike, at least the misery will be over fast if they fully stack gen perks etc, whereas a SM Myers game on Midwich will be an excruciatingly long and drawn out ordeal of tedium.

I AM NOT ADVOCATING LEAVING, I am just telling you how I view it as a veteran of solo queue and while I have played thousands of hours of killer too, I played far more survivor and prefer this role and I think I have good insight on how many survivor mains think.

  • @rysm said:

While I do agree, my killer games also have survivors benefiting from high ping. So this is a general ping issue not "killers exploit ping" issue so lets not have another one of those threads of us vs them please.

    I disagree, mostly.

I play NA West from Australia as survivor only, as playing killer on NA ping would be disgustingly unfair for a start. However as survivor it puts me at a distinct disadvantage, I frequently get hit 10 feet through windows and over vaults, I cant greed anything and I get hit through pallets constantly.

However I have versed killers with high ping and the same thing applies only worse. I don't think much feels worse than getting hit around a corner by a hatchet from a laggy Huntress.

I think killer should have ping limits and if survivor has any, they should be fairly high.

  • I think they should remove the immediate penalty and instead the system keeps count and the main punishment being that you will be queued with other people who frequently DC. Make going next reportable as unsportsmanlike conduct and ban the top percent for a period of time (days not just minutes).

I feel the current DC penalties discourage leaving your team with a bot, they trap players in very unreasonable situations such as killers who slug at 5 gens to bleed everyone out for 4 minutes, or even when you get a cheater than hooks you faster than you can move and you get an AFK penalty.

I feel most people actually want to play matches out, as why would you bother with the game if you never get any points because you always DC?

  • I don't think the perk does a lot in a match with the average solo queue casual, or even your average group of friends in a SWF who play together once every so often.

But if you play with friends who understand the value of hook states and forcing the killer to spread them around, the perk is very strong.

The reason I personally stopped using it in solo queue was the same reason I don't use Deliverance in solo queue; much like the Deliverance curse when I run STB I seem to always get found first and tunnelled hard, so I get no value out of it.

  • No. It's a different player base, there is some overlap maybe but people who play that wont stop playing this as you can still play more than one game regularly

  • I gave up with 100% on this game, I already got it to 100% earlier in 2024 but they keep adding achievements and I cant be bothered keeping up with them. Plus I don't want to play/buy killers I dislike such as the last DLC…

I would rather 100% games that my achievement is permanent on Steam, rather than expiring every time a new DLC comes out.

  • I think we will see some attempts at a solution to this in the new year, the survey questions indicated slugging is on the radar and I think anything where someone can intentionally grief 4 players by going into a game with slug builds and bleeding them out for 4 minutes is a high priority to fix

  • This has been said for years but unfortunately they no doubt base their profit models off earning a certain amount from quarterly DLC.

It seems they may be considering other forms of monetisation though (custom moris etc may be a possibility) as I think they realise there are simply too many perks/addons/killers as it is and they cant continue adding to the overwhelming number as a business model.

Maybe when the quarterly DLC model finally stops, they will be able to focus on QOL improvements more

  • You are making your internet 4 other people's problem, if your WIFI is garbage then use ethernet cable instead.

Fix your internet before you join a multiplayer game…. otherwise don't play.

  • Yeah queues are slow for me playing survivor but incentive is almost always higher on survivor

  • @CrypticGirl said:

Yeah, whenever I see my teammates with flashlights, the Killer gets a 4k at 4-5 gens.

Yep, I started to dodge lobbies where the other 3 of my team mates are a SWF or they all have flashlights.

Many of these team mates will waste all their time trailing the killer like vultures trying to get a free flashlight save, instead of doing the objectives and that is besides the fact killers will often run Lightborn anyway. I also dislike being viewed as the random with a 3man who will often let you die over their team mates.

Oh and it is so annoying when survivors do a 6 second switch to flashlights, then there are lots of BP offerings and the killer DC's during loading anyway so we all get nothing.

  • Low Key I think the idea was to nerf her so hard that it massively drops her pick rate, as they know she is so deeply hated by the player base but they cant just delete content people paid for, so instead they can make it so she is effectively non-existent in the queues and honestly I am for it.

I would not expect any buffs to SM any time soon

  • You need to fix your internet connection if you're getting DC penalties because of it, nothing to do with BHVR there.

That being said, I do think DC penalties are mostly pointless and hurt team mates more, as people do go next on hook to avoid the DC penalty. When at least a bot is better than absolutely nothing in their place and bots have been better than team mates they have replaced in some matches for me.

I would like to see other options other than DC penalties myself

  • TLDR but I am in OCE and the queues are very quiet, if you really enjoy DBD then I would suggest paying for a year of ExitLag as I will play NA West or Asia when OCE gets too quiet etc.

The problem with OCE is the DBD population is small, so you will see a lot of the same players and at times of year like this where people are on holiday, the matchmaking cant accurately take into account your MMR, so it will match you with a wider range of players so you aren't waiting forever.

Again, I strongly recommend ExitLag, just don't be a scumbag and play killer in other regions as that is disgustingly unfair

  • I hate both maps on this realm for one reason; weird ass loops.

I without Windows as survivor the loops are to odd to pretty much pointless, with stuff sticking out to get stuck on (they are doing this with a lot of maps lately) that make this a very frustrating map for both sides.

If they didn't have the weird loops I would not hate it half as much

When player reporting someone for blatant cheats or any other violation of the rules, they want to see that their reports works.

As someone who have been reporting blatant cheaters, bug-abusers, end-game chat harassment for more than 2k h - I haven't received a notification in game even ONCE. Yes, you've read it right - not even ONCE. Not only that - I made a ticket on a blatant cheater who have a YT channel, been constantly posting and advertising cheats for DBD. I waited for answer from the support team for 13 days, and they've only answered when I made a post on the forum about asking if support team even works.

The guy wasn't banned. My time was greatly wasted on all the reports I've been making.

This was a good lesson to me - now, I don't care with reports, tickets, etc, and I don't waste my time and nerves on making them.

I'm still facing cheaters here and there, the "game" doesn't seem like values my time and my investments, so - I don't care if cheaters "ruining" the game for others.

Just to mention - this is my personal experience with the report system and support team of this game. I don't know how they're responding to others.

I find this really hard to believe if someone is cheating, since I have had responses less than 12 hours later for blatant cheaters and it must have been that report they actioned as I didn't report anyone else. I also reported team mates who hid in the basement and let us die, then refused to proceed the match and instead continued to hide while preventing crows, I added the killer and told him where they were otherwise they probably would have held him hostage for the entire hour… they also took action on that within a few days.

If this is the case then you are extremely unlucky but this is not at all my experience

That nurse seem to be on one heck of a hack spree, there are many streamers with videos of that nurse doing that.

I don't think it was the same Nurse, this is in OCE and I think the same cheats were doing the rounds. Their name was literally advertising the cheat

  • I think the main problem is killers abusing ping, as a survivor I play other servers with ExitLag (OCE to NA) and I have about 160ms - 180ms and it means I cant greed pallets, I get hit 10 feet through windows and around corners etc. However when versing killers it seems the same happens but to their advantage.

  • Yes I love RPD, unironically it is now one of my favourite maps since the rework, though I do prefer West to East.

As killer I think there are some strong pallets but if you force them out of the way early it creates very unsafe areas. As survivor I am a balanced enjoyer and I know the map(s) really well, so I can generally do very well on these maps.

The only frustration I have is team mates who don't understand how important it is to smash out middle gens ASAP but this isn't exclusive to this map, it is just a frequent problem as usual.

you getting notification does not guarantee it was your report, that lead to someone getting banned. Just some other people were not lazy to report with ticket to support

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0PUX6OOCKGWQ/image.png

Hey I don't care, maybe it was, maybe it wasn't.

Either way you cant say it wasn't my report and at the end of the day I get to know that action was taken and I am not someone who reports ridiculous things like being tunnelled or camped, so the person I reported deserved punishment no matter what and while it would be nice to know what was done, at least I know they did take action.

  • Edit: I was replying to a comment that has been removed

OP reporting does work, I just got a notification today that they took action on a report I did. I don't bother raising a ticket etc, I just report in game and they have taken action.

The best one was a cheating Nurse who instantly teleported us all to hook as soon as the match started. I reported them and I got a notification the next day that they took action, which I assume was banning as the cheating was so blatant. I don't send in videos or link to profiles, just click report next to their name.

  • Yep they absolutely should, making them middle of the day completely killed the horror ambience.

I feel like a lot of it has to do with the reworked graphical style creating some extremely dark shadows at ultra in some areas. It can be hard to make out details on things, even gens lose definition without filters if you're an ultra settings no filters gamer like me.

  • Because the game is a massive grind and while I have all perks unlocked on all characters, I have no P100 characters as I want to get everyone to at least P10 on my main account. I have all survivors there but only quarter of killers… I have 5k + hours on this account btw.

So for most casuals, they can never have enough BP

  • I want to see map reworks to take them back to a night time horror aesthetic and I want to see slugging addressed once and for all.

  • I hate the rework, besides the fact these maps have become very killer sided (except Thompson House Edit: I forgot Torment too), I desperately miss the old dark golden skies of original Coldwind maps. They were my favourite maps and I was absolutely horrified when I saw the new maps and it was brilliant sunlight like it was midday.

I thought the game was Dead by DAYLIGHT? Not Dead in the middle of the day. They absolutely killed the ambience and I so hate what they did with Coldwind.

BRING BACK OLD COLDWIND… please (how could you ruin the best maps?).

  • Thank you, you too and staying warm is the least of my issues, since it is full into summer here in Australia lol

If it helps Matt, I'm trying my hardest not to be that Killer OR that Survivor. I hate overusing meta, but even I've had to use meta. Mostly, because I feel I have to, because I can't trust my opponent not to do the same.

No I totally get it, I try very hard to not be one of 'those' survivors or killer but as survivor I feel like I need to run OTR/DH/DS lately as I get tunnelled very often and as killer, if I actually wanted to win I would have to run tedious gen perks or I would struggle (I rarely play killer now anyway).

I tried to change people and discourage bad conduct (like tea-bagging) and playing for fun over sweating but I realised its a hopeless task trying to change people and I just have to do what I can to enjoy the game for my own sanity.

  • I very much miss the vibe of the dark maps too, I think they ruined a lot of the horror aesthetic by making maps daytime. My fondest memories are on old Coldwind, where I was absolutely terrified of killers and would run OG Spine Chill so I knew when the killer was looking my way and I could pre-hide from them lmao.

No0b3 and Monto were my favs and I even watched TrU3 back then, I was amazed how players like No0b3 were so confident around killers and all I wanted to do was to learn to 360 killers.

I miss the aesthetic of old Coldwind in particular, the golden night skies had such a vibe and I feel they completely destroyed that with the new maps which I no longer like at all.

I miss old DBD, I think they improved a lot (obviously) and it is far more polished and refined… but old DBD had way more character

There was a streamer that used to play basement Bubba for views. I don't think he streams anymore. He got irl threats to his family.

Yeah ridiculous, I got sick of Basement Bubba after the millionth time but of course anti camp destroyed that.

However I would never get mad as it wasn't generally done to grief, it was just a very tired meme while it was still a thing. It wasn't a get angry thing for me, it was just a roll my eyes, sit on gens and get out as it was really just a waste of time and nothing more

  • @gofuekilla said:

If u allow your team to get slugged that's a skill issue there's plenty of counterable perks to run like the jonah vasquez boon totem, unbreakable, no mither, deadhard and whatever else. If anything I'd be mad at myself or my teamates for bad play style. Most of the times ive seen a succesful slug was because all 4 survivors were in the same area, 2-3 of them were tryna save 1 survivor from getting hooked or hit, or they were too scared to pick up one of the dying teamates.

This is just such a fundamental lack of understanding of the game I just don't have the energy for this.

No. It's hard to do anything about on a regular killer and all but impossible to do against an instadown killer, especially Billy. It's a genuinely crap thing to go up against.

How to fix it without basically letting unhookable squads or hide-and-seekers take games hostage until the killer DCs? That's a good question and there are one or two decent suggestions in amongst the noise.

Yep even with WGLF against a God tier Billy it is impossible.

The particular guy I was talking about also runs Coulrophobia and Overwhelming Presence etc to ensure pick ups are as slow and difficult as possible.

  • @Give_Nemesis_a_hat said:

Survivors allow this slugging playstyle because they have no idea how to counter it. A team knowing how to counter a slugging playstyle will always win no matter how much you argue about it.

Yeah this is just nonsense and with all due respect, I am going to assume you are nowhere near as experienced as the players I have seen bled out by this guy… some of whom have been playing DBD since release with over 8k hours in game.

Slugging was not the point of this thread anyway, it is just one of the mechanics being abused to grief people intentionally but it is not being punished.

I've encountered as many if not more people who are toxic and rude without anonymous mode.

As soon as anonymous mode was available, I turned it on and haven't ever felt the urge to remove it. I'm happier without psychopaths who type out death threats in the end game chat being able to stalk my steam profile and find other accounts to send me hate on. I'm not even a streamer, I'm just someone who doesn't want to deal with the harassment.

Yeah I use anon mode pretty much all the time now.

I have encountered enough psychopaths who hold random grudges and will go out of their way to stalk and ruin matches for me and have even had death threats… because I outplayed them as survivor or beat their toxic SWF as killer.

Being anon removes a lot of their motivation to pursue grudges, as there is no identifiable person to repeatedly harass. Though I admit I do see people who seem to hide behind anon to behave like jerks to others too

  • Hell no, this used to be in the game and it was very unfair and could be abused to create a lot of misery for killers.

As a survivor main, I say no way and sabo is perfectly fine how it is, it is a risky play that can have high rewards and massive cost to a killer and it doesn't need to be made stupidly easy

That's why I haven't been playing it as killer. My thought process "It's a holiday event I am just going to play super casual, not tunnel, not proxy camp, use the snowballs for extra points. I load them up with a Bloody Party..if the chase is there, I will hook." I get everyone on death hook, I open up the gate for survivors and gives nodders…may the pointing and tea bagging begin lol.

Good thing there is always next match I can just go to.

I played a few as Santa Clown as I have a lot of cakes on him, I brought in Hoarder so they get extra chests to search for gifts and I double hook them all and let them go… after fully maxing out my snowball stats of course lol

That is my contribution to the holiday event on the killer side

If the entire team is slugged, and none of them have a way to pick themselves off the ground, and none of the exit gates are open…. Then the game should just auto sacrifice the entire team.

If the game is honestly over, then the game should just immediately end.

I have been asking for a 'concede' option (even if automatic) like this for YEARS. I don't think it should be full sacrifice points though, otherwise it just encourages playing like this as there is literally nothing to lose at that point.

  • I think the solution is make it so anon is effective in pre-match lobby but it goes off when the match has finished.

So you can protect yourself going into a match but you cant hide behind anon to behave like a jerk

  • Strength in Shadows combined with Botany as Botany of course speeds up your self heals but you can also heal team mates faster at any time.

Or I also like to use We'll Make It to fast heal team mates and Resurgence so I can get very fast heals off hook.

I actually run these perks in these combos myself and on a regular basis.

  • People are playing so scummy in the event that I actually stopped bringing any BP offerings like old Terrormisu's etc, instead opting to only bring Escape Cakes.

As I don't want to give any points to people playing in a really scummy way.

I don't expect people to give free wins but man, you would think being the holiday season people would be less nasty and petty but honestly it feels like it is actually worse than usual.

Allowing survivors to lose bleed out faster from failed attempts, gives survivors yet another way to ragequit in a way that bypasses DC penalties. That's bad. We have enough survivors using hooks to bypass DC penalties, and we don't need to make this problem worse.

    Totally disagree.

Giving up on hook is completely different, you still have potential to play the game. When your entire team is slugged you should absolutely be able to leave the match/concede/speed up bleeding out. Making people endure this misery for 4 minutes on a basis that is becoming far more regular is not a great way to treat your paying customers.

But this is not really my point, slugging is the mechanic being used but my argument was mechanics like slugging being used to grief and ruin the game for others is not punished.

  • @I_CAME said:

This sort of a thing is a positive. It's stuff like this that gets the worst parts of the game changed for the better. Notice how three genning mysteriously went away when it started getting a ridiculous amount of streamers and youtubers talking about it. The people who play this way will be the first ones to cry when they make any kind of change.

I actually agree, this just makes this kind of thing even more of a problem than it already is and BHVR will be forced to take drastic action. I watched it happen several times yesterday and people just went and played Marvel Rivals etc instead.

It is actively hurting the game and making the experience miserable for newer and veteran players.

    @mecca said:

BHVR dismisses killer behavior, simple as that.

This was my original point, BHVR seems to not have an issue with this. Though I do understand this is probably hard to police as slugging is still a valid mechanic in the game but when it is used to grief and waster 4 minutes of 4 survivors time, for no other reason than because they enjoy ruining the game for others, that is a big problem and it should not be possible.

The sad thing is, I hate when games become over sanitised but the lowest common denominator ruins it for everyone

  • @Shaped said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3860185#Comment_3860185

I don't think survivors are worse at all except some toxic swf's on comms. For the simple fact that solos don't really hold any power unless killer is super outmatched with less xp/hours. I am not saying they are good people (will elaborate later) but killers have more means to be toxic now and are exercising it.

As a killer the amount of survs bm'ing through the game went down a lot for me compared to a time when survivors were able to mess around and still win. For example tbagging after pallet drops was super common because tiles were super safe and plenty. What I notice now is as long as I'm dominating survivors are rarely toxic, but if some of them feel any kind of power over me they get cocky and bm. Still, my survivor matches are the ones that are usually miserable and L streaks can go on and on and being humiliated and bm'd for the simple fact that I am not as strong as when I play killer. So I am left being a toy for despicable people.

Oh yeah I hear you there and I do agree actually.

Killers are in a unique position to take matches into a miserable direction and this is pretty much entirely the motivation for this thread and why I find it frustrating they can do this is the first place and secondly that there will never be consequences for it.

There is actually more than one killer in my region who does this intentionally and it seems to be a recent thing, as while it did happen it was not as often as it is now.

  • @Shaped said:

Killers are showing their true nature with their newfound power role. They act like survivors did many years ago.

Shows there are no innocent sides, just people with god complex with the intent to make others miserable living out their fantasies in video games.

I agree, both sides behave badly though even as a survivor main I will say survivors tend to be worse. Though that also is a numbers thing since there are obviously 4x survivors for every killer

Ive seen a few billy's doing this and its so unsportsmanlike.

Interact with the hooks thats why they were in the game.

But this is something that has to be addressed by BHVR its getting out of hand at this point.

That is how I feel it is, they have no intention of playing matches normally, the agenda is to inflict misery in any way possible.

It isn't even a discussion about slugging as such, this is just the mechanic unsportsmanlike people use to inflict misery and grief others but there are no consequences for this

  • @Unequalmitten86 said:

LAst year I said streamers were going to be the toxic source of this game and I was banned lol. However that's the problem you have these streamers showing purposesly bleeding out with just a way to win a 4K. There could be hooks right there but they just bleed you out because they can. That isn't a valid argument and at 5 gens you don't know how the game is going to go. I have also seen streamers post their videos with them hook camping to get the mori. Since the Twitch requirements for the monthly stuff the slugging and toxic stuff has gotten so much worse. But I agree with you it is technically greifing because they are purposesly holding up the games progress. If everyone is down there is no reason not to hook unless they are all in the same area but you can hook at least one. The hook respawn too. So I feel that all these tactics hooks respawning was a last ditch effort to see if slugging was intentional and we all know it is and now killers are not going to like what comes next.

And also no we can't carry anti slugging perks because unbreakable only allows you once to get up so it's basically uselelss because more killers are slugging for sport.

I want to say at least 70% of my games have slugging in them that I get one crow while on the ground. I play every day too. Maybe it's a regional thing or a MMR thing.

I honestly don't understand how it isn't considered griefing, that is about all I can really say.

There is no intention of playing matches normally and unfortunately people watching are often encouraging him. I guess I have said pretty much all I can on the matter here but yeah, I don't understand how this is acceptable

That's an interesting suggestion. My own suggestion has been to give survivors a "Take a chance to get up" button that gives a progressive chance to get up the longer they have been down, with unsuccessful attempts depleting the meter like a hook stage, but I might like this more.

Yep also not a bad suggestion either, so long as it dramatically speeds up the process either way

Survivors don't need more ways to ragequit that bypass the DC penalties.

Just have the survivors automatically teleport to a 2v8 cage if they have been slugged for 1 minute. That puts a time limit on slugging, and fixes your problem.

Fine, any solution is better than forcing people to waste 4 minutes of their time bleeding out.

Does he say that is his goal? Because while I don't do it, slugging is a valid form of gameplay.

If he literally SAYS he's doing it to grief others in that case I'd clip itand send it to BHVR they might do something in that case, but not if you just end game report it. They take video much more seriously.

Slugging for pressure is understandable… I am not new to the game and it isn't that I have not played a lot of killer myself.

That is not what this is and does he say "I will now proceed to grief these players"? Well of course not but his intention is very clearly to grief others and his conduct is constantly very childish, petty and toxic both as killer and survivor. But playing as killer is where he has the most potential for inflicting misery.

He doesn't keep VODS either but the other problem is, slugging and bleeding others out is considered totally fine it seems, even if he does it every single game.

  • The game has always had toxic players for as long as I have been playing (started in the first few days of 2019). The toxic ones can cause absolute chaos though and cause a lot of misery for others.

The majority of people aren't toxic but there are a minority who go out of their way to ruin the game for others in any way they can think of.

I think the more potential ways they can grief that are removed and the harsher the penalties, the better the game is as a result. A small number of toxic people cause disproportionate misery
