As a survivor main and flashbang enjoyer myself I will say they are actually unfair in some situations, particularly when a killer faces a wall to pick up but you still get the save. That makes them pretty much unavoidable without Lightborn and that should never be a thing.
The sound bug just makes them even more unfair

I left the match and went and played something else instead
I feel that. Playing solo queue really feels like a huge dice roll on whether or not you’ll have a good time. It’s got to the point where most of my solo queue games are unpleasant for one reason or another (killers griefing, teammates giving up, bad maps, poor matchmaking, etc.), and I’m starting to question whether I want to keep playing that role at all.
Killer is much more consistent for me. Yeah, I get a frustrating match every once in a while, but most of them are plain sailing (at least compared to the solo queue experience).
Yep I hear you, I would play killer but I simply don't enjoy it so I all but stopped playing killer a year ago, other than rare exceptions.
This was my first match back after taking a few days off to detox my soul from DBD (lol) so yeah, not a welcome return. Really struggling to have fun even with the event so maybe its time to take a very long break and let things get balanced out a bit better for solo survivor before I return.
-
I absolutely despise Anime personally and it is my only blocked tag on Steam for recommended games… that being said, if people want it and it is actually horror themed then meh, who am I to argue against it if the masses like this stuff?
-
Yep it has turned the end game into a miserable experience now.
-
The last thing I personally want is to give the lovely toxic and immature children I encounter in this game to have more ways to communicate directly with me. Part of the appeal of this game is that I don't have to listen to obnoxious edgy kids or read their post game nonsense and I am sure I am not alone.
I am fine with the level of communication that is possible in this game
-
I agree, it's starting to make me hate the game the more I play.
It used to be an infrequent thing that someone would be really petty and waste everyone's time to slug for the 4k but now it seems it is almost every match since the free mori on the last survivor.
I am starting to become spiteful and intentionally not picking up my team mate and hiding it out, then hiding out the EGC since they seem keen to waste my time then the least I can do is return the favour. I am also happy for team mates to leave me to crawl away and bleed out rather than pick me up too.
However either way, it is making the end of matches an absolute chore now.
-
I have to add, I jumped on for my first game of the mode within minutes of it starting (that is 3am my time BTW) and my first game was a Dracula who also decided they would start slugging us at 5 gens… because, reasons?
I left the match and went and played something else instead.
DBD is getting harder and harder to have fun in as a solo queue survivor now.
-
With anything like this you have to ask yourself if you are okay with losing your entire account, if so then keep using it.
It may be completely fine and you may have no issues but if EAC flags it then you're done and BHVR will not help you.
-
I know someone who was a competitive level player but they quit and started just messing around and dying constantly in public matches. It took them about 2 months of dying constantly to the point they now gets killers who are so inexperienced they don't know how to pick up survivors lol

I know, right? I see this all the time. I cannot understand, even a little bit, the logic that goes through someone's mind when they do this. Do they think they are somehow sticking it to the killer by DC'ing?
No no, apparently they are just turning off their console for the day and they just cannot wait the few seconds for the death animation to end as that few seconds is just so important (according to the replies above lmao).
Yeah it is clearly to tell the killer they are unhappy but it's completely self defeating and every life streaming killer I see who has this happen is confused rather than seeing it as somehow negatively affecting them
-
This is one of my favourite maps, west wing being my favourite of the two.
I don't think RPD is as bad as people make it out to be as killer, I think there are a few very safe pallets but once you get them out of the way the map can be a bit of a dead zone for survivors
-
I do think there are too many aura perks and addons now, it can be very hard (even as a veteran player) as survivor to figure out how the hell a killer knew where you were and clearly saw your aura to know that.
It concerns me the cycle of quarterly DLC's will continue, as we already have an absolute mess of perks and addons to deal with and adding even more just makes this problem worse
-
I like to chat on here but short discussions, I think long drawn out arguments on the internet are pointless in general. I used to love engaging in random arguments with strangers but meh, I can't be bothered anymore.
If someone responds quoting me sentence by sentence, I will literally ignore them as they clearly have more time to waste than I care to engage with.
Either way, if you have experienced this player base (which you no doubt have) it is very clear it is full of people who aren't exactly scholarly geniuses. So you cant expect reasonable discussions either though there are definitely people worth engaging, so just filter out who you respond to and interact with.
-
Jeez I would rather survivors have a build like this than a sweat build and personally consider a build like this the complete opposite of 'toxic' or meta for that matter.
I have run Red Herring and Diversion together before and I still like running Diversion to this day, nobody expects anyone to bring Red Herring so it can work surprisingly well, even Diversion does too most of the time.

You wait for sacrifice animation, then wait for post-game scoreboard and then you get to the main menu to properly exit the game. Necessary?
Of course I wait until the match is over before leaving, what normal person doesn't lmao?!
Again, can people not wait a few seconds for the match to end before they exit? Yeah I don't buy this, when it doesn't make sense it probably isn't true and knowing the maturity of many of the people I encounter in this game, I guarantee they are pointlessly rage quitting.

This one is simple, guy is done playing for the day and he died, so he can now shut off his console/pc.
A lot of people don’t care about the BP and the penalty is so short that it won’t matter anyway especially if you won’t be playing until the next day.
Lmao… I don't buy that for a second.
They are so desperate to finish for the day they can't take 5 seconds of animation?
Let's be real here, it is a pointless temper tantrum gesture
-
I think it comes down to most people will choose a killer that gets similar results to a more complex one, as it takes more work to get the results with the more complex kit.
I am a dinosaur though and I miss old DBD very much, even with all its jank and unbalanced nonsense (except old DH, that was so broken).
-
I have never understood the ones who DC during their sacrifice animation, of all the completely pointless things in this game…
Still happens to this day though

Wish I had more killers aware like this. I can’t be arsed playing hide and seek and will sit on a gen until I get found. Usually I still get the hook and the rat gets hatch.
Lol bro, so often the case eh.
The rat who hid and let team mates all die on hook over risking a single hook state gets given hatch by the killer. If there is a God, he doesn't care about survivors lol :P
-
Yeah as smurf said, if you are hiding and not progressing the match that is extremely irritating for the killer and just drags out a match that is already over.
If I am playing killer and the last two are hiding, I will definitely let the one go that I keep finding as they are at least trying.
Killers don't like it when you constantly hide, especially when the match is pretty much over.
-
It's incredibly useful for solo survivor, especially in the current DBD era where survivors rarely play loops/pallets, they just pre-drop them without using any thought at all. With Windows as least you know a loop is dead and not to run there and in solo that is incredibly useful.
You also have to remember the vast majority of survivors are unskilled casuals and Windows helps them no end to at least have some chance.
I don't use Windows myself as I prefer other perks and I know maps/loops well enough to get by but even then it would still probably save me many downs as I don't know what resources are spent without it.
-
If its only PTB then I don't care, PTB is only to test out stuff not sweat to win (though some seem to think the PTB = comp match).
-
@BurnedTerrormisu said:
They have to run across the whole map to return the tape. They can't use items in that time.
Thats the downside.
Exactly.
This was so irritating during the event where hitting snowmen with snowballs was very much worth the effort points wise. However the stupid tapes denied that.
Besides that, I think Onryo is in a good state now and she doesn't need any buffs as while she may not be comp ready, she is more than adequate for your average solo queue lobby. Not every killer has to be meta
-
The only time tunnelling is necessary is in a comp situation but when I play killer I NEVER tunnel unless they BM excessively and maybe at end game in certain scenarios.
Most survivors are casual players with very low skill, so you don't need to tunnel, it is just some people have zero empathy for the other side and will do anything for an easy win.
While I am a survivor main, I have played thousands of hours on both sides and I guess I have empathy as when I see a killer struggling I will actually choose to NOT flashbang/flashlight save or hold off hitting them with Head On etc and most certainly will not bag them at the exit.
The problem is you always have to account for the scummiest 1% and I am all for anti tunnelling measures being introduced even more so than what is available already.

but you survivors want to play killer, useless from what I see you are very lazy
I have no idea what you're trying to say here and concluding I am "lazy" from my statement is not only rude, it makes no sense in this context. I guess it might be an English problem… but hey, whatever I guess.
-
No the OP is right, while 3 gen is part of it for sure, her fundamental design was what players hated and effects like 'hindered' are woefully unpopular, particularly with experienced survivors who know what they can get away with in loops but hindered throws out all experience based timing.
I think we need to wait and see how the PTB plays out either way but I do wish BHVR would stop buffing everything as not everything needs to be meta.
-
It's always depressing for me after BP events, the standard BP's earned is so ridiculously low compared to how many characters there are and how massive the grind is. It's very demotivating
-
I think it will probably be toned back but until the PTB actually happens it will be hard to tell.
I really dislike how BHVR started to buff anything and everything, in my opinion it is okay that some perks are little more than memes and not all killers are comp ready.
There are just too many perks/addons/killers in the game, so making everything strong will result in all kinds of unexpected metas that will create more balancing nightmares (no pun intended).
-
Yeah this doesn't happen.
Every match I play vs a slugging Twins people DC or give up as soon as they get hooked and not once has someone said 'gg'
Thankfully this toxic play style is going to become very difficult as clearly the devs have it on their radar.
Anyway, not going to waste more time on an obvious bait thread trying to illicit angry reactions.
-
Yeah I hate these maps, they feel like massive dead zones as everyone seems to be saying. I think they improved the aesthetic a lot from the red of OG Borgo but personally I audibly groan every time I load into these maps.
That being said, I absolutely DESPISE Hawkin's but this seems to be a minority opinion. So what do I know I guess?

friend, read the title of the topic and the first post. We are not discussing you, but trolls and cheaters using the anon mod. By the way, a good player will not hide from others. So of course I don’t take your word for it.
I have nearly 6k hours in this game, if I am not at least reasonably competent at this point I guess I should just stop playing.
Either way, you keep wasting your own time dodging anon players, I can assure you they do not care.

I have no doubt. if you want to spoil the game for other players under the guise of an anon mod because the developers allow you, do it further, but without me.
How do I spoil the game playing in anon mode lol?
I am generally the most skilled survivor in my lobby and I don't bother with chat other than to say 'gg' so if you dodge me, you actually would likely lose out more than I would.
Again, I literally do not care if you want to spend more of your time finding a lobby without an anon, I found a lobby so I am fine.

Then you also agree nerfing perks into the ground that annoy Killers like Head On, Blast Mine, Flashbang (which is still bugged) and even the harmless Mirrored Illusion (it could annoy someone somewhere!) is the proper response should many Killers complain about those, right? If you disagree that would make you a hypocrite, because surely Killer fun and lack of annoyance is just as valid as Survivor annoyance, right?
I mean, to say otherwise would be a Survivor-sided bias. Just as if I had said that we need to nerf all gen perks Survivors have because gens go too fast would be a Killer-sided bias.
Nuking things we don't like isn't an answer nor should it be a longterm solution, because if we normalize that I don't think you will like what some Killers will do the second Blast Mine is seen if that becomes too annoying. Asking for nerfs because "annoying" isn't a solution and I think you know it.
Sorry but if you are leaving a match over Head On or Blast Mine etc, that is a you problem and likely skill issue and these are not comparable. I do think flashbangs need to be changed though, as you should not be blinded while facing a wall causing you to drop a survivor and bugs are a different topic altogether.
A miserable killer design holds 4 people in a match they have to endure and they are all subject to the mechanics of that killer.
Nuking things is not the ideal answer, the ideal answer is to outright delete broken things or completely rework them from the ground up. The first is not possible as people paid for these characters so you cant just delete them outright, the second takes a lot of work and often for characters such as Twins or SM, who I suspect don't exactly do a roaring trade as far as skins go. So for BHVR nerfing the problem into the ground is a kind of win/win even if not the ideal solution.
-
I am guessing they are probably going to reduce the blood effect on screen as one change, it can become extremely difficult to loop while your screen is full of the blood effect to the point I go down simply from struggling to make out killer movements.
I highly doubt it will be a buff for killers that is for sure
-
@LockerLurk said:

No it wouldn't. Nuking a Killer into unusability because they're annoying is as unfair as nuking say… Flashbang into unusability because it's annoying. I don't think you would enjoy it if fun silly perks like Head On, Flashbang, Blast Mine, Mirrored Illlusion, Bardic Inspiration, or Diversion were nerfed just because Killers found those too annoying would you? I sure would hate that, I love trying to use Mirrored Illusion to mess with people when I play Survivor! I like whipping out my lute playing Bardic Inspiration! I like trying to use Pebble for fun! And I like trying to make Flashbang and Head On plays, those are fun. Those things are fun.
Similarly, a Killer you find annoying someone else may find fun. Lots of people think running around as Legion is fun. Lots of people think being able to 99 someone and drop them from an ambush as Myers or Ghostface is fun. Some people think Silent Chainsaw Billy is fun, and some people think that Pinhead is really fun to launch chains and juggle the box with. And many, many people find Huntress orbitals fun. All of these are mechanics someone somewhere - even a lot of people here, find annoying while others find them fun.
Why would we want to nerf the things that make the game fun for people just because you might find them annoying? Is that really fair? And if you do think it's fair to nuke Killers Survivors fund unfun… well, what annoying things on Survivor side are you willing to sacrifice in the name of Killers' fun?
No, the answer to the give up epidemic isn't, it simply is not to nuke annoyances into the ground. That removes diversity. That removes interactivity. And I'm gonna respond to it the same way as I would someone asking for a Blast Mine nerf for being annoying - by laughing you out of the room, because it's a laughable position to say we need to fix an issue that affects everyone by nuking things only some people find annoying to the detriment of the game.
The solution to the give up epidemic is something we all know has to be done but nobody wants to admit. The solution is simply to remove the 4% unless you have a perk for it or it's endgame collapse. That would fix the issue way more than nuking something someone else finds fun just because people are too petty to admit they want to ruin the game for everyone else just because they find a thing mildly annoying. They did that to Skull Merchant, yet people STILL DC against her for no reason. Utterly none, just because she's Skull Merchant. How on earth is that even fair?
The Skurchent gutting solution cannot and should not ever, ever be the solution to any of this. Ever. To say otherwise betrays an opinion that you want the game to become more bland, more boring, and less interesting for everyone. It fixes nothing, and creates less fun for everyone.Sorry but I don't think removing the 4% from the first struggle phase is not going to fix this, it prolongs the process of people giving up but it doesn't prevent it. The same as matchmaking penalties for DCing don't work, they just encourage people to give up in ways to avoid the penalty.
Of course I agree fun is subjective but when certain killers or builds result in the vast majority of players giving up, there is objectively a problem there that needs to be addressed.
While maybe not the most elegant solution, I do think nerfing them into the ground to reduce their pick rate is still an effective way to reduce the issue.

So I don't like thing so I quit and refuse to participate despite signing up
I explained why people likely give up, not justifying it. So I will let you argue that one out with yourself chief, as this wasn't the point I made and in fact I made it clear I did not encourage it. I just know why survivors hate the things OP seems to be confused as to why people don't want to verse it.
You can get mad about it all you want but no matter what you cant force people to play matches they don't want to and BHVR are likely well aware of this fact too.
The answer is in part to at least eliminate a lot of what causes people to instantly want out of matches to reduce it as much as possible. However people give up for any ridiculous ######### reason, so you can never fully eliminate it but only reduce the likelihood

I've been trying to avoid anons in lobby lately. The reason is in the title of the topic.
I don't care if you avoid me, I found a lobby so I am fine, you can waste your time lobby shopping if you want, it doesn't affect me at all and it wont make me not run anon
-
Gotta admit I cant make sense of this, not sure what "level 5" is even referring to and how that relates to whether a complaint is valid or not.
But hey, whatever I guess.
-
I use anon almost all the time, too many very twisted kids in this game who get personal grudges over nothing and will attempt to ruin your fun intentionally.
I find weirdos are less likely to even bother interacting with me in a negative way, as they get little satisfaction from harassing a random character they cannot associate an actual person with.
-

So far I get most DC, when I play Legion. Main reasons for it are dramaturgy and finesse. They don't really work against Legion and survivors don't like it.
DC just because your perk is not going to work is quite pathetic tho.
Legion is a very tedious killer to go against too though, maybe not just survivor perks but it could be that a lot of survivors find constant mending very boring to deal with. Legion is not a strong killer, they get cheap free hits and then have nothing much else after that but it can still be very tedious to deal with.
Again not justifying leaving but just giving a reason why you would see people give up VS Legion - they have been unpopular since release.
-

The fake jungle gyms with missing windows/pallets are annoying for sure especially if you're not using Windows. I get if they want them to be different from other realms but making it look exactly like a standard tile with a missing resource is awful.
Tbh I don't really have any other issues with Shattered Square but Forgotten Ruins is one of the worst maps in DBD
Yeah I despise that map personally.
I am tired of this new nerf to survivors by making maps be full of useless tiles with limited to no mind game potential that are pretty much an inevitable hit unless the killer is completely incompetent.
-
I do find it annoying when team mates farm me for points in what is obviously a hopeless situation - a go next at 5 gens for example. But all you can really do is try to maybe get in some chases and consider it practice or salvage some BP which is something I will do with 3x BP but normally it isn't even worth it and I'd rather go next.
I had a team mate try to go next at 5 gens, I always run We'll Make It so when I unhooked I tried to heal but he just kept running at the killer. I knew the match was cooked so I kinda trolled chasing him and healing him the second he stopped moving lol.
What did I get for that? He ran at the killer, the killer ended up going for me instead, proxied me and tunnelled me out of the game then let the survivors farm.
So yeah, I give up caring anymore.
-
I do feel they added a lot of loops that serve little to no purpose on many maps, as others have said maps such as the Coldwind maps have become very killer sided for the most part.
Also, they seem to have stealth nerfed survivors by putting random crap at loops that you get stuck on for no apparent reason.
-
@TwinsMain2004 said:
nothing wrong with a killer being a good slugger
There is from a survivor perspective, it creates an incredibly unfun game play experience for 4 out of the 5 players in a match and when that happens, it is a problem.
-
I think Pulsar hit the nail on the head early on here.
Unfortunately there is always a minority who cannot behave with civility and they will take any exploitable mechanic in a game and abuse it to inflict misery on others, simply because they can.
So everything has to change for everyone to not allow a minority to cause the majority of the misery in the game.
-
I would not expect Twins to get much attention and certainly no buffs. I think BHVR knows they are very unpopular and their ideal play style is absolutely miserable to verse, so they no doubt have very high win rates due to giving up/DC's.
The problem is their design and beyond a complete ground up rework, there isn't much BHVR can do other than make sure nobody wants to play Twins. I don't think Twins sells too many cosmetics for BHVR either so they have little motivation to put hundreds staff hours into a rework.
The less I see Twins the better tbh, so I don't mind them staying kinda buggy either
-
Fun being subjective but holy hell my games today have been so rough it is hard to say the experience is fun.
Almost every game someone DC's or goes next but to make matters worse killers are running super obnoxious builds and tunnelling/camping constantly so team mates are just getting out of the match.
My last match someone DC'd on first down, the killer (a Wraith) continued to proxy every hook and when I blinded him with a flashlight I didn't even bring in he seemed to take massive offence bleeding me out and humping me.
Honestly there is a section of the player base who are a bit deranged and it makes potentially unfun matches unbearable and I don't know how you fix that?
-
Carry snowballs as already said, the only issue is when you are carrying an Onryo tape or flashbangs you're pretty much screwed since you cant use them if you have these items. I can't help think BHVR overlooked this but it was the holidays so they didn't want to have people stay on to fix it since it isn't the end of the world.
I have also died to the snowball piles in maps like Hawkin's where they have blocked my path
-
People could just bot customs to earn BP 24/7 so they will never do this
