  • For me it shows how much perk bloat sucks the fun out of the game for me and the potential to create incredibly obnoxious builds, particularly stacked slowdown which I personally find incredibly tedious to verse.

It's not difficult to see why the game struggles to obtain and retain new players. This game is one of the most new-player-unfriendly games out there due to the insane amount of content that new players have to learn how to use/how to counter. I played with a group of friends a few years ago and most of them quit very quickly because of how overwhelming the game was to learn. It has only gotten much more overwhelming since then. I can barely keep up with the new content and I am a long-time regular player.

Yeah it must be a nightmare for new players with the amount of content to learn. I have nearly 5k hours now and with this Chaos Shuffle as survivor the one problem I have is I often have no idea what the perks I have actually do.

I have taken a lot of breaks from DBD over the years and I just cant keep up with the perks/addons that get added while I am away. I don't know how much longer they can keep adding DLC with perks/addons/new killers to learn.

  • I think his tentacle reaches too far now, I don't know why he was buffed in the first place but whatever, I guess.

  • No good comes from map offerings for sure… weirdly my PC crashes every time a map offering is burned…

  • Depends really, I have been left until second stage a few times but one thing that annoys me more is I find team mates make saving a priority over finishing gens. Survivors can wait a few seconds more but so many just cant seem to wait for the saves and even more want to be immediately healed every time they get injured, it drives me mad

The attitude of the OP in this thread, in my opinion, is honestly one the major things wrong with the game.

So many killers seem to think they're entitled to a 4K and some also seem to resent having to put any effort into it.

If the third survivor is suiciding on the hook, then you're getting your 3K. But complaints still come because you're not GUARANTEED the 4K? Even though the vast majority of matches I play I don't even bother looking for the hatch anymore as killers tend to find it within the first 10-20 seconds of it spawning. Unless it pops open right by you, or you're fortunate enough to find it in chase you aren't getting out using it. Then you have even less chance of getting out via the doors unless you can majorly avoid the killer which, if so, you deserve the escape. That scenario too is very uncommon.

As a survivor main, I kinda hate the hatch mechanic as it is the main reason killers slug for the 4k. While in many cases it can feel really petty to slug for the 4k (someone went next first hook etc), I do get it and I don't necessarily blame the killers.

Personally I would rather leave it to RNG when I play killer, if the survivor finds the hatch first… meh. I don't want to waste mine and another person's time slugging for a 4k that means nothing.

I kinda wish they would just remove the damn hatch or rework it a bit

  • This might help you a bit but yeah, I understand as Knight is one of my least favourite killers to verse even though I know you can mess with the AI of his guards. Just not fun for me personally

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVTP_u7qyL8&ab_channel=OhTofu
  • There are some times I totally understand giving up but it isn't just killers who get frustrated when a team mate goes next first hook or DC's on first down.

Though personally, I don't care anymore as I get it and I cant say I have not done this myself.

I do wish you had the option to just concede the match when the killer slugs for the 4k… being slugged for 4 minutes because the killer desperately wants to avoid a potential hatch escape is a bad mechanic (the hatch is the problem really) and making your players endure 4 minutes of not being able to do anything is not great.

Otherwise… meh, I have always said you cant make people play matches they don't want to play.

  • Sorry but people have been ranting about SWF since pretty much day 1 and it is still here. We all know SWF gives an advantage and the devs have done a lot to make solo less of a disadvantage than it was, though no amount of info will help some players.

SWF isn't going anywhere so its an essentially pointless discussion

Yes, I've seen a much higher % of useless teammates in 2v8 mode compared to normal 1v4 matches as well. So many players running for cover at the slightest hint of a heartbeat, even if the status indicators are showing other people being chased.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe 2v8 is using SBMM, so you could be a super good 5,000 hour player and be getting thrown in with people who are literally brand new to the game. Not that SBMM works for regular 1v4 mode, but at least I don't seem to be getting thrown in with brand new players as often in regular mode.

Well from what I read on here, the MMR is fairly wide in scope so effectively it would feel like it isn't on at all and that has been my experience in many matches

  • I 100% agree, or at the very least make it optional or if you insist, just censor obvious words and if people get around that to say bannable stuff let the report system deal with it.

I am an adult, I pay my own bills and I make my own decisions and I don't need some company censoring words for me. I can deal with naughty words thanks

  • The biggest problem I have had is that team mates don't do gens, it really is as simple as that.

Apparently killers can now chase 3 survivors each at a time, at least I would be led to believe this as why else would someone not be on a gen if they are not being chased?

It's one of the things that does my head in with this mode - useless team mates. Also, being double teamed by killers when 1v1 they individually could not down me is a feelsbadman.

  • I guess, enough until killers stop tunnelling and hard camping?

I never tunnel or camp when I play killer and I still manage to win most matches, even though my main role is still survivor. Only exception is 6 second switchers or very toxic BMing survivors, in which case I will tunnel them hard.

Some killers play every match hard tunnelling even at 5 gens and the sooner we can make that completely non-viable the better.

Oh and I am an approaching 5k hours Andy between my main and 2 other accounts…

  • @Marioneo said:

Playing a ton of 2v8 I can safely say its a survivors sided gamemode that's failing for survivors because they ain't focusing on doing objectives they just running around wasting time but when you actually get decent teammates you stop the 2 killers gens fly so fast when you get competent teammates

Well, there is some merit to this for sure.

Trouble is MMR is very clearly off, as I find myself being matched with survivors who don't do gens, who hide in corner and go down instantly. The fact MMR is off makes this mode feel very killer sided… dependent on matchmaking RNG.

If I get good team mates who actually do gens then yeah sure, it feels like its survivor sided. But most matches this is not the case due to MMR being off and my average lobby is full of terrible survivors

  • Mode is very much killer sided, the only exception being if the killers are inept and not on comms.

MMR appears to be off for this mode, so I find myself constantly being matched with survivors who hide in corners, they go down instantly and wont do gens or only do safe corner gens when they cant hear the TR

This mode is great for killers but for survivors… I don't understand the appeal and 400% bonus BP isn't worth it to me

  • Subjective.

I do not find the 2 v 8 mode at all fun as survivor, it is far too killer sided and MMR clearly being off means I am matched with survivors far below my experience level and it makes for an infuriating experience.

I went back to playing the regular mode and instantly had a far better experience

  • Killer sided, mostly.

On paper it should not be with faster and less gens but the fact there is no carrying to hook cant be underestimated as far as saving time. If the killers are on comms and are not morons, the matches are incredibly killer sided and if you get caught out in a 2 v 1 as survivor there is literally no counter if the killers are half decent.

Plus I would bet money on MMR being off so the quality of survivors is not good a lot of matches I have had. Nobody does gens and they go down instantly every time.

If the matchmaking RNG gods bless you and you get a team who understand that the killer(s) cant chase 8 survivors at at time and so they do gens rather than hide, then you have a chance.

Again I will say, 400% bonus BP is not worth it to me

  • I don't think killers are overpowered, they are meant to be strong and not something you can evade continually unless you are in the top 1% of players against an average player. It is a 4 v 1 not a 1 v 1 so killers need to be stronger than survivors in a 1 v 1.

That being said, I am not a huge fan of this mode for survivor, as I feel that MMR is off and I am constantly matched with absolutely clueless survivors who don't do gens and who go down instantly.

I don't think the 2 v 8 mode is at all balanced, I feel it is very killer sided with the exception being if the killers are inept and not on comms.

I can see how this event would be a lot of fun for killers, taking the pressure off you as you are no longer the sole killer and you can play with a friend which would be nice. But for me as a survivor main, 400% BP bonuses are still not worth it

  • @MaddieMage said:

legion is already obnoxious and boring enough to play against. I sure as heck don’t wanna play against two mending sim killers.

    Agreed.

Not a strong killer, just obnoxious and tedious and when they basically get injures on survivors for free, combining two of them would be the most miserable mend-fest imaginable. The idea of two Legions makes me shudder only slightly less than they idea of two Tricksters or Knights

  • People don't want to play against bots though, the problem is there is not enough incentive for survivors to play this mode imo. Certainly not in the numbers that would make queues shorter for killer

It is probably a lot of fun for killers, I don't know as I could not be bothered waiting that long for a match but as a survivor main I find it painfully frustrating. Team mates never seem to do gens and go down instantly, so if killers are on comms (which they often seem to be) it's an absolute stomping and easy games for killers.

Maybe bigger incentives might help more play survivor but for me personally it would probably have to be 1000% bonus BP for me to keep playing this mode

I personally am enjoying this other than the que times, as a survivor I feel your pain it's pretty much a coin toss whether you get a team that will do gens, but I recommend bringing a few friends into the que it's no different than the current state of solo q , they really need to make the hatch not open with gens still needing to be done so these stealthy players will actually try to do objectives instead of hiding for hatch at the start of the game I really feel like it's part of the issue of nobody doing ######### sometimes

I am clearly in a minority from polls I have seen and the general consensus… but yeah, as survivor this mode is just painful and it makes me angry and not have fun, so there is no point me playing it. Going back to normal matches felt great after this

  • Its all ready so killer sided, so why would anyone in their right mind make it even more so?!

  • @Nazzzak said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3769420#Comment_3769420

Yeah I'm literally only playing for the bp otherwise I'd be in normal mode. Doing my part to help the killer queues but I need adequate compensation lol

Honestly I am surprised as many people like it.

I find it beyond tilting how often I get into a game and I am literally the only one doing gens for so much of the match. Like, ######### are the other 5 survivors doing if I assume that 2 are being chased by the 2 killers?!

It's so frustrating and I don't get why people rate this mode so highly

  • Well I feel it is the complete opposite - very killer sided unless the killers are completely brainless noobs. So much to that I decided to stop playing it as it feels quite unfun to be so unbalanced.

I know it is meant to be a casual fun mode to not take seriously but I feel like the nuances of gameplay are lost to chaos in this mode and if the killers are coordinated on comms it's so killer sided it is a joke.

Oh and before anyone says it, yes I believe SWF on comms is unfairly survivor sided in normal games too.

Mathieu Cote pretty much said Lights Out was not a success, that might be what I_CAME is referring to. He said they were surprised at how quickly everyone returned to the standard game after trying the mode.

I see, well I played a lot of it myself but hey I am fully aware that I am not the player base and my preference is subjective.

Personally I don't think I will be playing much if any more of this particular event since I am a survivor main these days (killer stresses me out too much) and it feels very killer sided.

  • This is part of the problem, there isn't a lot in this mode for survivors other than the incentive, as the mode is very killer sided if the killers aren't completely brainless. Being double teamed by killers is not a good feeling and also the MMR clearly being off makes for a frustrating experience for experienced survivors.

All the fun saving mechanics being removed are another disincentive for survivors and while I do get how many of them are annoying when you play killer, not having them for survivor gives less reason to play this mode after a few hours of novelty wears off

  • It never will be permanent anyway

    @I_CAME said:

Most unsuccessful? Did you forget about the trainwreck that was lights out?

Lights Out was great, I enjoyed it and it brought me back after months of not playing. If you didn't enjoy it then that is totally fine but not everyone shares that opinion.

I do not like this current mode, it is too killer sided and with MMR off I am tired of being matched with survivors who are absolutely clueless

  • Those claiming tunnelling is not happening…. lol, just ignore them as they clearly are disingenuous. I am being tunnelled frequently off hook and it is clearly very intentional and it is sad to see in a supposedly casual fun game match.

I do feel this mode is heavily killer sided unless the killer players are hopelessly inept and inexperienced as killers so it can make for a very frustrating experience, combined with the fact MMR is clearly off in this mode so the plays from other survivors are… questionable at best.

  • Well objectively speaking, if people make that claim they are just completely and utterly incorrect.

SWF just playing together but not coordinating on comms is one thing but when they are all on comms making callouts all match it is very obviously unbalanced and anyone claiming otherwise is either lying or not the brightest.

This is why comp players have strict rules around perks etc when survivors play competitively with comms - to fix the inherent imbalance

This is a weird point. You're basically saying 2v8 is TOO fun and therefore shouldn't be added, because players should be forced to play a more boring version of the game?

BHVR will not want the community separated where 8 survivors are removed from the main queue

respectfully, that’s a terrible point. At the time of writing this there are over 62k on steam alone. Never mind the players on other platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and epic games. The player base can handle it easily. Also right now, during peak interest. I’ve had literally 0 impact on regular queue times for killer and survivor.
and like the other guy said…why would they remove a mode people find more enjoyable than the original? Like “oof, this is too successful, better not capitalize on this and please the majority of the player base”.

You are missing my point entirely.

This mode removes 8 survivors from the standard queues for every match and puts them into a mode where the content they sell such as killers and survivors many buy for their perks are not able to be accessed.

No access to DLC = no reason to buy it = no money for BHVR.

They may add the game mode again but no way it would ever be permanent

  • Was there ever any real argument that SWF isn't unbalanced?

  • @Krazzik said:

if +400% BP doesn't do much, I doubt even +4000% will do much. At a certain point people just don't wanna play the mode regardless of the reward.

That is me, I am done playing survivor in this mode.

It is fun for a bit but if the killers have the slightest bit of skill it feels very killer sided, despite on paper it seeming like it should be anything but. It feels like MMR is off and I constantly get matched with crouch walking Claudette's and team mates who are allergic to gens.

It was fun for a bit but it isn't worth the BP for the frustration imo

  • They would never make this permanent, it separates too many players from the queues for the main game mode

Thank goodness too, though if you enjoy it that is good for you but I am done with it personally and look forward to it ending so the regular queues go back to normal.

  • Jeez I didn't think it was that big of an issue, I just clicked to not see it again and that was that.

I despise advertising with a passion but I cant begrudge them a single notification I can choose to never see again regarding one of their own upcoming games.

Now if it was a pop up for insurance, a VPN or G Fuel etc… then I would definitely be VERY angry

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/422044/i-honestly-cant-enjoy-2v8

I really don't get people saying killer is hard in this mode. From my experience most of my matches, especially the ones I have played with my buddy, are complete curbstomps. Survivors don't do gens and go down extremely fast for the most part.

Same here, though I strongly believe MMR is off for matchmaking in this mode, if the team mates I have are anything to go by.

As survivor it seems pure RNG if I get lucky with team mates, as some games its a depressing stomp where nobody does gens and half of them hide as soon as they hear the TR, or its a gen rush and the killers are uncoordinated and low skill…

For that reason I feel I personally am done with this mode, it was fun for a few games but the RNG as far as team mates go is too frustrating for me

  • Yeah so at this point I am completely done with this game mode, it is just too killer sided if the killers have barely functional brains.

It was okay for a few games but for me there is not much fun when the balance is so in favour of killers. I cant wait until it ends so everyone is back in the regular queues

  • This isn't the place to appeal bans…

    ^ literally!!!!

It is beyond frustrating and to think that you now have the luxury of classes, seeing auras and gens that are being worked on. I think the whole "doing gens" as an objective has run its course and needs to be replaced by something that is engaging.

Yeah I see this constantly, it is like MMR is completely off as I get team mates who don't seem to realise the killers can only chase one survivor at a time each, so you should be on gens if not being chased/saving.

Another issue is a lot of team mates go down within 5 seconds so it can feel like you are just saving back to back. I ignore all cages but the ones that pop up right next to me, as often I am the only one doing gens.

The event was never meant to be balanced and its okay for a break from the normal gameplay but the low skill hiding gen allergic team mates make it frustrating

  • This mode has zero chance of becoming permanent imo, separating 8 survivors per match from the main game queues would be a disaster for the game long term.

  • I strongly suspect MMR is off for this mode, which would make sense as it would take forever to match 8 survivors MMR for a single match.

It's why it largely feels RNG to me as far as luck with team mates, I have had the literal meme in my games in the form of crouch walking Claudettes who hide in the corner the second they hear a TR lmao. Many randoms go down instantly too, which doesn't help

Some matches nobody is on a gen… I am being chased so I assume 6 other survivors are doing nothing since one other killer can only chase one other survivor.

However every so often I get lucky and get randoms who do gens and can last more than 5 seconds in chase and the outcome is very different. But mostly my team mates are abysmal

  • This is only really possible if the killers are both completely inept noobs, against experienced killers there is literally no counter as they can pincer you so all your possible escape routes are cut off. Sure you might evade for a few seconds and pull off a lucky move but basically you're going to go down

I thought the event was more survivor sided than I conclude it is after many matches and facing coordinated killers and I have to say being double teamed by killers is not a good feeling as it robs you of any possible counters

  • I gave up trying tbh… survivor BP bonus is 400% so I guess I will just do that!

  • I don't think anyone goes into this thinking it is going to be a balanced or 'fair' experience and if they do, well…

I think it is utter chaos very much RNG as far as matchmaking, as good team mates seem to = win and killers obviously on comms with some skills = win.

But don't expect these events to be 'balanced' as I don't think that is the point at all

  • Yeah it is chaos.

So from playing a bit more I have found it can go either way depending on both game RNG and matchmaking RNG. Apparently there is no MMR in this mode and it really is obvious with some of the team mates I am getting. Some games there are 8 survivors with one on a gen… so the outcome is inevitable. Or I get lucky and get good players who hump gens constantly and it goes the other way.

No way this is balanced but that is okay too

  • "Survivor sided"? Jeez not sure I agree with that as being repeatedly tag teamed by a Nurse and Huntress feels anything but survivor sided.

These games modes aren't meant to be balanced or fair though in fairness so you should perhaps play the main game if you are looking for a more balanced experience.

That being said, I am not a huge fan of this mode either as it feels too chaotic and the core gameplay experience feels a bit lost to me. Not sure I would call it "garbage" which is a bit harsh but I far preferred Lights out or Chaos than this mode. It's too chaotic for me

  • Yeah I rarely see it now which is fantastic, perk was extremely annoying and provided far too much for simply opening a locker.

  • I doubt they will nerf it as it is a godsend for new players who will struggle with this game otherwise.

Experienced players who are going to give you a tough time rarely use the perk, as we know the maps well enough and have enough situational awareness to get better value from other perks.

  • Survivor adepts are pretty easy compared to killer, as Krazzik said above it is just a matter of time and you will get them just playing. David King is probably the hardest due to No Mither but even then you will eventually get an escape

  • I have zero interest in anime personally and it is one of those things in life where the appeal is a complete mystery to me.

That being said, I buy every chapter so I would still buy one, though I think anime is getting far too far away from horror, even if the cosmetics etc are already getting about as far from horror as possible…
