  • Its also nice to be able to pick a different flavor so to speak. The different abilities of the killers tend to open up different perk synergies and playstyles. I also dont agree that if you dont pick certain killers, you wont be able to win at high ranks. I say it alot in my posts, but Ive been able to play just fine using ONLY Freddy. He was the first killer I got to rank 1 with.

  • I CALL HAX!!! GET RDY TO GET BANNED SCRUB FOR CHEATING!!! jk. While abit weird, at least it didnt ACTUALLY have any effect on a match.

  • @SenzuDuck Ill actually agree completely with you, I DONT feel it fits this game well. What would you consider a "power role" and can you give an example.

  • @Captain_Doomsday Under that idea though, wouldnt survivors have to change their movement depending on whatever killer they face? Your movements would surely be different if you face a Huntress as opposed to a Trapper? Against one, youd look at trees as possible cover mid-chase whereas against the other, you'd look twice at any window vault or tuff of grass.

  • @fluffymareep Thats actually where I would say its the complete opposite. Id say its hard for any PLAYER to be the power role, since theyre designed to lose, and merely be a strong obstacle.

Power role doesn't mean favored to win while the opposite side is the underdog.

  • @Visionmaker In your example, would you consider Anima to be the "power role" even though they are MEANT to be beaten?

  • @fluffymareep Havent played the game, but if he forces you to adapt to him in some way, such as to keep moving...I suppose

  • @Visionmaker Ok, so are bots allowed to be the power role? Think outside the box here. What about even outside videogames. Is the dungeon master in a game of DnD allowed to be the power role?

  • @Visionmaker What in your opinion IS the correct use of the term. Try thinking OUTSIDE of this particular game.

  • @Bbbrian2013 So in Dark Souls, if im playing alone against a boss, im the power role, but if I bring a teammate...the boss is?

  • @Boss I feel like the term simply refers to any role in which you are forced to respond to. Shao Kahn as the final boss in mortal kombat isnt switching up his playstyle depending on which character you choose. Hes gonna throw his hammer either way. You have to respond to HIM be dodging that hammer. The devs of mortal kombat dont feel the need to buff up their boss because he doesnt win enough or something. The game doesnt have to be fair to Shao Kahn. Unfortunately when "the boss" is a living person... That person wants an equal chance of winning.

If youve ever played a match of Overwatch with one of the MANY player made "Boss battles", the best ones are when any single player in the team AGAINST the boss can avoid simply being rushed down. Its ok if the boss doesnt win half the time. Its actually fairly normal.

  • @Boss Would you not consider ANY videogame boss battle to be "the power role", even if its a single player game?

  • I feel like the idea of "power role" would pertain to something along the lines of a DM in dungeons and dragons or a boss battle in other games. The purpose of the role isnt to win, but to provide a suitable challenge to be overcome. In dark souls, Ive seen players beat the whole thing without bothering to even lvl up. In this example, the Bosses are still the power role, but the player facing them isnt FORCED to lvl their character in any particular way to beat them. You dont HAVE to bring a specific weapon or play style. I feel the problem with all these asymetrical games is whoever is on the side with fewer players feels THEY are in the power role...and of course...as ANY player would want, they want to WIN.

I feel like another example of a character in the power role would be Shao Kahn when hes played as a boss. While the character is perceived as OP, the AI is forced to use taunts which opens it up to counter attacks. If this was a person... it would be COMPLETELY OP with just spamming unblockable attacks and never giving those taunts.

  • @Jdsgames It would open up the possibility of sneaking up on survivors for things like gen grabs on killers who dont have reducing TR built in. Combine it with something like surveillance to keep track of which gen you need to sneak up with next.

  • Id be completely OK with this considering...Stacking all the equipment and addons survivors can bring would be a HUGE boost to my BPs as killer, lol.

  • The idea of certain perks being REQUIRED is just people refusing to get creative with their loadouts. I honestly feel like alot of people completely forgot about half the perks in this game and when a new perk comes out that synergizes well with one of those forgotten perks instead of their perceived "Meta" perks... means the new perk is useless. Having different perk combinations to synergize with a killers power ALSO cant possibly be a thing...

Just talking as someone who use to play exclusively Freddy WITHOUT ruin at red ranks just fine. But...ya know...Freddy isnt viable and ruin is required, lol.

  • I generally agree with this, although making it a thing on some maps and not others isnt really plausible. Its a tall order, but once they do the pallet tweek to the rest of the maps, I could definitely get on board with this. Currently, most killer powers use up bloodlust. If you shock with doc, bloodlust is gone. Throw a bottle with clown...bloodlust is gone. You have to REALLY be wantin to force that m1 hit and abandon what your killer does. With these shortened loops, There really shouldn't be a reason to NOT throw the bottle.

  • @NuclearBurrito Id definitely be down for an insidious rework. Having to stay still in order to maintain its effect kinda limits it to camping. A possible change while maintaining the perk's identity would be to cause a loss of TR and red stain to occur after standing still for 3 seconds which then lasts 10-15 seconds with a 1 minute cooldown. This would stop the extended use of the perk for face camping while making it actually useful OUTSIDE of face camping.

  • Weather or not you can HEAR the terror radius or not doesnt change the fact that the terror radius is there. Even with CURRENT Freddy, perks based off the terror radius still works when you cant hear the terror radius (aka your awake).

  • @Dehitay This kinda runs into a problem where some of the best addons you can use arnt the purple or red ones. While this'll be useful against things like instaheals, the best toolbox is a green one with a clean rag and swivel sockets for addons, which are brown and yellow.

  • @NuclearBurrito Id laugh my ass off if they implimented this TR idea and EVERYTIME i play Doc with my huge TR, survivors just assume im camping and let their teammates die on first hook.

Also... this would show the leatherface in the basement using insidious while 2 ft away from a hooked survivor is definitely NOT camping.

  • Typically I hold off on using em, although I dont see ANY problems with yellow moris at all. I typically have a rather large supply of ebony moris which I only use when my girlfriend REALLY wants to see salt in an endgame chat... For that, I grab an iri head too, lol.

  • I STILL don't see the point of rank reset... Only feel like I'm bullying newbie survivors because of it. Last night, went from facing purple's and reds, to having a game against ranks 16-19 immediately after reset. Felt so bad, I let the OBVIOUSLY baby meg go (the rank 19).

  • @Tower_XVI So my killing an entire team in 2 minutes and getting a safety pip for it while not camping at all is...bad?

  • I think the better option would just be a sort of cooldown that limits the amount of notification explosions you can get from 1 vault location within a set timeframe.

  • @NoShinyPony maybe he doesnt play killer often

  • @Thaznar They were talking recently about changing it. Something about comparing Trappers to Trappers and such, due to how different killers end up being affected differently. I just kinda laugh at it atm, cuz my Freddy game lasted like 2 minutes.

  • @OpenYoureyes I will DEFINITELY worry about you being IN me ya weirdo.

  • @OpenYoureyes If i camped, it wouldve shown it in the Chaser category.

  • 20190713042847_1.jpg

4k, 5 gens to go... As you can see, there was no camping penalty and...safety pipped, lol

  • Afew questions... Do perks like distressing affect his lullaby or visual range to awake survivors? Can the aura affect stack if you choose to use multiple add-ons for dream pallets? Does anyone know the % for action slowdown of each of his add-ons? Please @ me if you figure any of this out.

  • When what draws you to the game is the grind instead of the trials itself, I think that says something. Im just thinking of games like COD where people still put in some serious hours AFTER having their character maxed out.

  • The biggest thing that currently irks people is how often a totem will spawn 3 ft away from a gen, or ontop of a hill. The thing might as well be a beacon screaming "Break me". Very rarely... ill spawn in, see my totem on the top floor of a house in Springwood with no gen anywhere near it and just KNOW...that ruin is lasting all game. I can understand the problem with having them too easy to defend though, I just want em a little more out of sight.

  • your problem can be circumvented by something as easy as a minimum distance requirement.

  • I think giving 20 seconds for totem placement is fine, but as far as setting up hag and trapper traps... Those kinda come with the territory for those killers.

  • Only allowing 1 killer to be played also drastically changes the perks ppl use. When Ghostface came out for example, the amount of ppl using OoO SPECIFICALLY to screw up Ghostface went through the roof.

  • Why not start with some killer emotes first, that way I can point BACK at a survivor?

  • @AetherBytes That might be abit much with some of these perks... Survivors successfully defuse my devour, but I just turn around and relight a totem to 1 shot and mori them.

  • I typically just look around the general area of my gen and if i cant find it, hop on said gen. I also typically prefer to do a gen solo if ruin is up, so if a teammate hops on, ill find another gen and check that area.

  • I think the killer player should be given like 20 seconds before the match starts to select a spot on the map for their totems. Dont gotta make the character walk around, just make it possible to scroll through the map and click where ya want it.

  • After finding quite afew keys out of chests lately with addons due to ace in the hole, i DO enjoy using their aura reading functions...

  • @RoKrueger Thats your answer to EVERYTHING though.

  • @semaj_leachim Instaheals consume the rest of the charges on the medkit, using up the medkit. Im mostly just looking at the fact that an increase in bloodpoints will cause things higher end toolboxes to become more readily available, which would of course speed up gen times more than they currently are. Like i said to Clogwench however, we'll just have to see what this does for the balance of the trials, and hope that if it DOES cause a major shift, the Devs will act quickly.

  • @semaj_leachim Survivors keep all addons as long as they dont completely use up the charges on whatever gear theyre equiped to. The only example of an addon that gets used up without using up the gear item as well is brand new part.

  • @RoKrueger Considering the only killer I bother running it on is Freddy, the only killer who cant really camp a hook... yeah.

  • @ClogWench Dunno why it has such a huge cooldown anyway. How could you POSSIBLY abuse this perk?

  • For me, its mostly just like a curiosity on why a thread was closed. I doubt ill ever see a last message from not_Queen though that just says "DAMN you salty, git gud scrub...NOED is here to stay"

  • @Raccoon Yeah, I remember a team too scared to go for the unhook so they stayed on the opposite side of the map, where there was no gens. Tagged someone to sleep them around the middle building, which prompted them to rush for an unhook. Ran after them for APPARENTLY 7.1 seconds and managed to get a hook grab as soon as they fell asleep. Still was called a camper.

  • Yes -closes THIS thread-
