Doesn't matter, this is highly individual.

You have players who are competitive in nature and just manage to get into decent state under 100 hours, because they want to win and actually trying to improve.
Then you have players who simply don't care and are beyond saving even at 1000 hours.

When you believe someone is better than you, then try to learn from them if possible, not give up just because you are likely to lose. People like this are reason why I never want DC penalty removed.

And then you have people like myself with thousands of hrs who don't care anymore and just play for fun and not to win.

They're certainly indicative of skill. It'd be silly to suggest someone with 800 hours is as good at the game as someone with 200.

I have seen OG players with 2k hrs who only recently returned to the game and struggle with a lot of new mechanics. So no, playtime is also not always an indicator for skill.

  • Bad idea because lobby dodging is a real problem and some killers would never get lobbies or would only encounter builds which directly counter them.

I would like it though, if we could see the player's name and ping (as well as our own). That would fix a lot of issues.

For 1 and 2, cosmetics or the lack thereof isn't going to change that.

I think Gabriel's attractive, though I could cry at his lack of casual cosmetics. He does have the Iron Maiden T-shirt, and an upcoming Cats and Dogs collection sweater. Now they just need to give him some casual pants. And Dwight is my number one favorite Survivor, and there's really only one cosmetic I wear on him.

Sable seems pretty popular despite not having many cosmetics. (And just color variations of the default cosmetics don't really count for me.)

Haddie may not be attractive, but that didn't stop people from raging at the lack of cosmetics for her.

At least the hiding places should get better, so I can also hide myself with Jeff or David. It has been overdue for years. 80% of trees are too slim for male survivors. Filler loops and other stones/bushes of low height will perfectly hide any female survivor besides Jane and Haddie (and the Elf), but any male survivor will stick out their head above.

There are also generally cute/sexy male survivors like Felix, Steve, David or Renato, but for some reason, cute female Survivors are more popular than guys with a sixpack. Even though the community is thirsty for shirtless XXX.

If I remember correctly people complained about Haddie's lack of cosmetics because she had interesting lore and wanted to play her but she was missing her green cosmetics from the beginning. The first purple outfit after release was a set and the other one was a prime reward. So there was basically just recolor if you did not want to spend money (purple outfits were usually AC only back then).

True Haddie is not the only forgotten female in dbd but the most prominent as Zarina, Yui and Elodie all had their full cosmetics on release and also got pretty decent stuff afterwards. They mainly suffered from bad cosmetics and a bad release schedule later.

In addition, if you only promote certain characters through cosmetics (Feng, Nea, Kate, Mikaela) then those will get played more naturally. This means more money which means more cosmetics fotör these characters. Repeat till eternity.

  • The most frustrating thing was using a bunch of BPS and then get tunneled at 5 gens to get 5k points multiplied in the end

I would love such cosmetics for male survivors. I want more hair style and color variation, too. Like, give us pink haired Adam alreadyyyyy 😔and blonde Jonah.

There is one single Corpse Paint for Jeff. They could have done so many more, but no....

  • @CrypticGirl said:

I actually have to wonder who's really doing the discrimination here. So it's true that they're promoting a lot of female character skins because it "gets them more money." But guess what? You see a lot more female Survivors being played than males. I know I do. When I play a male Survivor, I'm usually the only male on the team. When I play a female Survivor, it's a full team of girls.

So I say if we want BHVR to show more love to male Survivors, we need to show more love to them ourselves. Play them more.

I thought the same thing when people were complaining about the lack of Haddie cosmetics. I hardly saw anyone playing her. I still don't, even now. The lack of cosmetics shouldn't be a reason not to play a character. If we really love a character, we'd play them regardless of how many or few cosmetics they have. But apparently we don't love those characters enough.

    I give you some reasons:

    1. Female survivors are generally smaller and easier to hide.
    2. Female survivors are cute (mostly).
    3. Most male survivors are just not interesting or are neglected from the start (Gabriel, Adam, Jonah, Jake). Those who have the potential are not mainstream enough or suffer from poor sylisic choices (Jeff, Ace, Vittorio, Dwight).

Haddie was called ugly during the PTB, because she was not cute and thin or had big assets like Jane.

  • @Cuirassier said:

People be simping for female survivors. I wouldn't be surprised to see bikini DLCs or, hopefully not, naked women.

I am a woman. True my mains are all men, but not because "I want to have something nice to look at" but because I see a little bit of myself in them. The odd one out here is Wesker. But tbh you don't see a lot of the killer you play.

There is basically a bikini outfit for Spirit and Huntress which are basically bikini outfits from Hooked on You (still wonder why we don't have the Trapper outfit yet). And there is an old rift cosmetic for Kate where her top is basically a bikini.

  • @Rxstevo said:

Yes but pinhead is the only one who can straight up hit through both survivors. And the survivors also dont get a long speed boost since like half a second is still doing the unhooking animation

The same for all the killers I mentioned as well. Except the double hit. But there you only need to look at Bubba (and Wesker if done right).

  • @tyantlmumagjiaonuha said:

Yes. Since you are allowed to bring in items and offerings and play in the SWF, it is honestly not a chaos shuffle, but rather just an Ikaikaichimacchi with higher bonuses than usual. Last night we had a 3 person team with a medikit that was generous with map offerings and add-ons every time, so we were able to play a steady round of play.

You cannot forbid people to play with their friends.

You would get lobby dodging until they are in the same lobby.

  • @Emeal said:

Tunneling happens for many reasons. if you wanna stop tunneling you need to address the reasons.

Yesterday I was in Chaos Shuffle, I had just hooked a Survivor and hit another, so I take a look over at the hook, and see another Survivor running for the hook. So I walk over to stop them, I manage to hit them and want to go for a follow up. Then the unhooked Survivor tries to run up and body block the recently hit survivor, I simply wait and down that unhooked survivor again, re-hooking them. I was told that I was a sweaty sweaty and something worse in postgame match chat.

    @Ohyakno said:

His experience is congruent with mine. People have such a broad definition of tunneling that it doesn't mean anything. If you body block off hook, I am no longer tunneling. If you do a gen right next to the hook, I am no longer tunneling. A lot of people don't get that.

If this happens, I don't talk about tunneling but stupidity

2/50 games. Vastly overblown. You'll see it more in this game mode because killers don't have consistent tools to control the flow of the game or find survivors.

I basically only played chaos mod since it came out. I am playing daily and I probably had about 50 matches myself. Let me tell you: it is more than 2/50 times blatant killer induced tunneling.

It was the same with Lights Out. All the tunnelers go to the new modes because tunneling is easier. It's basically just counting to 10 and then press M1. There is no denying.

It is not because "they don't have the tools". I can play chill and have a good match with 3/4k without tunneling or camping.

  • @Karth said:

    And throwers, dont forget throwers

i actually had decent matches, but that somewhat degraded a bit, still slightly better than regular SoloQ games

Yes, those too. Although I face a lot less than those who camp and tunnel.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

Honestly I think items and offerings shouldnt be usable either, iridescent addons being usable in this event just is like ????

Or they should be random too

  • @appleas

Why? No DS/OTR+WoO on 4 people. No guaranteed Background player etc. Killer is more chill than ever. And most killers tunnel and camp anyway, getting them ez kills.

  • I really love it. It is so nice not to see 4x slow down or aura on killer or all meta on survivor. I only have 2 problems with this mode:

    • Map offerings are allowed. Especially swf use survivor sided maps like Eyrie of Crows, Red Forest or GoJ. In a chaos mod maps should be random.
    • Killers like to proxy camp and tunnel more because they know they'll get away with it 95% of the time.
  • @sadbutrad said:

some killers are WAY too hard against and it makes the game not fun to play as a survivor. not to mention every killer player choose the hardest ones to play as so even if you play all day long, you'll only play against 3 different killers all day cause they're the hardest to survive against, so everyone uses them. So, if you're gonna give the killers guns and throwable objects while making them faster than the survivors give the survivors more and better add Ons, powers and or abilities. we should be able to fight back a little. this would also persuade me and other players to buy more and different survivors if they'll be coming with powers and abilities.

You are talking about Deathslinger (guy with a gun), Huntress (throws hatchets), Trickster (throws knives), Artist (Bird lady) and maybe Unknown (spits pink exploding balls) and Plague (vomits all over you)?

The main reason why they are highly effective against new players is because you don't look behind during a chase so you don't know when to dodge. For the killer (even a beginner) it is kinda simple to hit you with their power.

Learn how to look behind you in chase (YT helps) and the problem will solve itself.

  • @deifi said:

You are now arguing semantics by throwing in words like "extremely" to happy endings". It's also quite obvious you are biased with "The Artist" as your avatar.

I never argued how many people died, the core ending of nearly every slash horror movie is that there are survivors that escape or survive. I merely stated survivor slasher horror movies end with the "good guy" winning in 90% of the movies. Then the sequels are just to perpetuate the IP for $$$.

I agree that going back to 50/50 is the accurate thing to do.

    I can tell you what:

I play a lot more survivor than killer even though my Avatar is Wesker.

    Avatars don't mean anything.

could be time of day, could be just the people you match with like to play a sweatier game. either way, just very unlucky, wouldn't wish boring maps during this event on anyone. i'm glad they enabled bp offerings at least, lights out was so bp deficit without any offerings. i agree with your sentiment map offerings should be disabled.

The other matches were very fun, though, because you had people randomly using Chem Trap, Pebble, Invocation, Deception etc.

  • @aewi said:

damn, that's unlucky as hell. i've not gotten one map offering on either side - tbf i've only played one killer game (mandatory for the kill 3 survivors chaos shuffle challenge) but on survivor, its been nothing but (quite often personal) bp offerings brought by my fellow survivors.

Maybe it was the time of day? I played quite late during the evening. But nonetheless, it sucks.

It would be balanced for new survivors if it had it's CD back, too. What the CD would do is actually make people learn instead of see, drop, forget.
Also most of the people using it sit around 3-7k hours. In my lobbies at least.
    I wouldn't call that a new survivor/player.

So I wouldn't say people get mad over new survivors trying to learn. They do exist. But they are far and in between.
(Also take regions into account. EU is vastly different from NA for example. So our experience might not be the experience of someone across the globe. That doesn't make it less valid though.)

I am one of those 7k hrs players you talk about.

I only started to use the perk when they gave survivors less distance after getting hit and also placed the pallets further away. It is one of 2 perks I never used before that (the other is SB) but by nerfing the distance, as well as other perks I used (IW, Spine Chill and DS, of which I only used IW because my main Jeff is so loud) made the build I had unviable. Additionally killers started to tunnel and camp massively. Therefore I swapped to chase perks. Very simple.

  • The real question is what do you rather want:

    • Survivors who are effective with their recources
    • 4 2nd chance perks and a lot of recources
  • @KA149108 said:

I don't think any killer should be able to M2 next to a hooked survivor.

But then you have Huntress, Slinger, Nurse, Wesker, Blight, Trickster.... who can just chill in the distance and either throw stuff at you or dash to you.

So this does not really work.

    No, I am not trolling.

Okay, so we found out why they brought in Vecna. Apparently in the D&D world, he is trying to rewrite everything, in game of course, and this is their way of saying goodbye to the current fifth edition rule set, and then they're going to come out with yet another rule set.

So, it was a move more so by WotC then by Behavior; although I stand by my previous statement that it is a stranger things tie in. WotC could have used any of the major big bads for this. They could have had it be any one of the BBEG's in any campaign setting. Forgotten Realms is the most popular and I believe Ravenloft is the next one.

WotC could have gone with Orcus, Lloth, Asmodeus, Manshoon, Cyric, Tiamat, or hell, even Yvonnel The Eternal (resurrected or reincarnated) trying to rewrite the multiverse to where the dark elves come on top of the food chain.

They chose Vecna because of the stranger things tie-in.

That's just my feelings on it.

You are clearly looking for something that is not there.

I don't play DnD myself (I play DSA/TDE and Shadowrun) but even I know that Vecna exists. And I don't watch ST either. So they went with the most known one.

  • @Unusedkillername said:

I think it's just a bug on the PTB to do with Vecna because I was getting blinded while looking up playing him and I was not using his vault perk.

well. And if I am not hiding it I will be targeted because of high/low/middle prestige. So.. 😴 guess everything will stay the same

This is why i don't bother with Anon either. Gives you no advantage and hackers can see your name/profile anyway if they want.

  • @Mooks said:

I think the devs are looking into it and may make it so that you can hide it.

    speaking of

if it's really high they get tunneled or if it's really low they get tunneled

It seems like getting tunneled off happens all the time and people doing it just throw in some excuse (eg prestige level, perks used, cosmetics, playstyle)

In the end, tunneling is a legit playstyle as well and you are allowed to do it..

If you are the one who hides it, you will get targeted because you have something (=P100) to hide.

I think only after hatch is closed gate is also a draw, before that if all gens got done then it counts as a win.

That is so stupid. But I guess they do it so that Blendettes don't win by doing nothing.

  • Me while pressing E results me in getting downed half of the time because the killer plays from Mars.

  • @Junylar said:

You already win with 3k, MMR literally sees no difference between 3k and 4k. Why do you feel the need to go out of your way to make the life even more miserable for the last remaining survivors?

Hatch escape is treated as a draw, so escaping via gate would be better for the survivor. Unless that is also considered a draw.

I don't think that's a big problem. Except for the killer shack (with basement) being completely shut down by traps. But that's another problem.

That was actually the scenario I had in mind, but wanted to keep it universal.

Ever since they removed i-frames from DH traps are difficult to deal with if you are hooked in shack basement. I know that you get i-frames with DS too but depending on where you are downed in shack, it may not be enough. And unless a teammate is clever enough to "hold the trap" there is no escape. And we all know how clever random mates are in this game.

Chucky has a short dash thats not great and hes 110% why not blight

Like I said, 4% is still a lot (as a reminder, mft was "only" 3%). That and the fact the he can basically insta down people who are fully infected are more than enough incentives to use a spray imo.

Then let's just see how it turns out.

  • My fix:

    • Starts with 1 token
    • Regain 1 token for being chased by the killer for 15s to am maximum of 3 tokens

My main issue with Distortion is, that it gives stealth for stealth. With my change that problem is fixed. OTR is quite similar as it gives you stealth for 80s after getting unhooked. But to get it, the killer has to find and hook you first. You don't get it by hiding all day.

  • @Clee said:

Just remove Aura reading. Find a survivor like any decent killer does, without free wall hacks.

Aura reading has been part of the game since 2016. That would remove an integral part of DBD.

  • @Header said:

why do so many people want blight to be 110%?

Mail because he has an insane M2 and many killers with very strong M2s (usually ranged ones) are 110%.

  • @Hex_Ignored said:

"(…) So the 8% slowdown are happening very rarely in a normal chase."

Then I don't see how the nerf to 4% is a problem? If this has basically no effect on normal chases, most "normal" weskers wouldn't feel that nerf, no?

And besides, 4% movement speed penalty is still a lot, especially considering we are talking about a killer that has a versatile power and can play m1 if he wants to, not to mention that you are an insta grab if he hits you. So there is still definitely an incentive to quickly cure it.

I get what you say, but even though "it does not happen a lot", I want to avoid a "Plague scenario" where nobody uses a spray.

I am also against unnecessary nerfs even to stats which are rarely important. Multiple small tweaks can have a large effect (look at Pig: always get s changed tiny bits here and there and got worse and worse because it stacked).

Nope, I've commented before on a few forums threads that 3s stun + disabling killers powers for x seconds would be good. But if killers' powers are not disabled, then any second stun is not gonna cover tunneling by all sorts of killers.

What about stepping in Trapper traps?

The rest seems OK and I really like that idea. I would not make it longer than 10s though.

  • @Azulra said:

Can we please have a restriction on Wicked where it has a pre-requisite of needing to go down at least 8 meters away from the basement stairs? All people are using it for is to be the biggest trolls by running into basement while injured and running all four Wicked, Plot Twist, Decisive Strike, and Off The Record.

I'm not saying that Wicked is too strong or anything. I'm just saying that it's an annoying perk that I only ever see trolls using it because, as survivor, it's annoying when your teammate isn't helping the team out by sitting slugged in the basement constantly and as killer it's annoying that you're forced to slug said survivor because you miss out on points for slugging survivors to death.

How can they have Wicked and DS/OTR active at the SAME TIME? Wicked only works on their first hook. They don't have flip-flops so hook them somewhere else if it's such a problem. Agitation helps.

  • Use Shattered Hope if stomping more than once is too much for you. And if I'm still correct you can pentimento that broken totem as well.

  • For Survivors:

    • Exhaustion, although this is covered by free survivors (Meg, David, Nea and Feng on consoles); maybe something like getting a boost every time you completed a gen
    • Boon (Alan Wake's boon would have been perfect)
    • Good Anti tunnel
    • Flashbang/Blind, if you are not good with a flashlight, there is no way to blind a killer unless you own RE.

    For Killers:

    • Gen defense
    • Obsession
    • Early game (something like corrupt/lethal)
  • @Toxicboii said:

I want to take a step back from the game for a moment to actually look at the bigger picture.

Long story short: Why do some offerings exist?

The kind of offerings being stuff like the Sealed Envelope and the Hollow Shell, to start with, which offers 25% BP in all catagories.

It's a pretty neat bonus to cover all the bases… Until you realize it has the same rarity as a BP offering that just doubles your gain in all aspects, not just 25%. (Survivor Pudding, Escape Cake.) What's the point in having them both be the same rarity? It's not rocket science to choose the 100% boost over 25%, because they're both yellow Offerings.

And another thing to consider is that while a yellow offering is providing a 100% BP boost in all categories, we have green offerings that give a 100% boost in one category. Only to be outdone by a 100% in all categories to all players, which can stack. (Bloody Party Streamers)

At the time when the BPS, Pudding, and Envelope got released, they were implemented as an anniversary reward, but never got removed. So fast-forward multiple years later, and we've had little-to-no changes to the offerings and their functions as a whole, outside of new additions (which, let's face it, hardly anyone uses).

They serve as a means to tip the scales in your favor, which it does do that well when it's intended to. But everything else is a mish-mashed mess where 25% is equated to 100%, and 100% in one category is equated to 100% in all of them. Don't get me started on the Moris… They used to be a means to end matches early, but now, they're just kind of a neat thing to have.

If anyone has any recommendations for an Offering overhaul, I'd be interested in hearing about it. I bring this up just to bring attention to it, I've no idea how to remedy this myself that isn't just either remove the "50% in [blank] category" offerings, and have the Hollow Shell / Envelope be Common whilst also providing a 50% in all categories instead of 25%.

First: Your usage of "all the technicolor in between" is kind of cute.

    But now to the topic.

I agree with you completely. I would fix it by changing rarities and straight up deleting offerings.

    • Delete all common (brown) 50% BP and yellow 75% offerings (compensate for everyone you own with BP)
    • Make all rare (green) 100% personal offerings uncommon (yellow)
    • Make the yellow envelope common
    • Make the green envelope uncommon
  • @StereoGang said:

I could be wrong, but I beleive both 25% offerings in all categories give their bp bonus for everyone in the trial.

It's not clearly stated on their description, but escape cakes for exemple are stated to be "personnal", which is not the case for hollow shells.

Anyway, the bloodweb is bloted with useless things : too much BP offerings who barely refund their initial cost, too much map offerings, iridescent items not worth this rarity (maps & keys), useless shrouds for killers & survivors which should have been inverted years ago, too much luck offerings considering how bad luck currently is, and so on.

Hollow shells is personal, they just forget to add the description.

I have encountered the Strobe glitch about six times, had at least three matches where I couldn't break a pallet, and about four instances of map collision simply not working, alongside the rubber banding issue pretty consistently.

Our different viewpoints seem to be at least somewhat tied to our different experiences with this update. Even if rerolling isn't possible, that's all the more reason why each and every update needs to polished since there is quite literally no going back once it's out.

They fixed the strobo glitch yesterday. The only annoying stuff I encountered so far is rubberbanding. Then there is only minor stuff like Singularity's chests not having the progression bar or Lèry's Gen signs not working properly. Or a skirt glitching into the legs.

I think it is VERY dependent on your hardware on what bugs you encounter. I for example have a R7 6700XT and a Ryzen5 6500 (I think. Always forget the CPU) and DBD is installed on my ssd.

  • @ArkInk said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3708440#Comment_3708440

Using a Bethesda game when talking about bugs isn't really a flattering comparison for DBD. Fallout 4 and the rest of the series are notorious for bad programming and especially horrendous bugs (although New Vegas still goes hard). If this update took a lot more resources than usual, I'd say the next few chapters are in some extremely hot water.

I have worked with programming in the past, and you are absolutely right that engine switches result in more bugs, which is exactly why this update should've been polished far more before release, especially considering that it aside, there wasn't much of anything substantiative added. Haddonfield was reworked, that's cool. UW was gutted and the five Twins players in the game got a QoL update. What else? The shop looks fresh…

This update, out of all of them, had the absolute least reason to not be pushed back, as the trials themselves are almost unchanged and so many new issues were added they farrrrr outweigh the positives.

If it wasn't for the fact that new content is being added in June (ie deadlines), I'm certain that simply delaying or rolling back the update altogether would've resulted in a far more playable experience.

I chose F4 because we all know that Bethesda is on par with BHVR bugs concerning (although they are a lot larger than BHVR). Is it good to have such a buggy game? No. The only difference is, that it's not BHVRs own engine they have to deal with.

I understand your frustration and especially the rubberbanding gets me, but that is the worst I had to deal with so far. I did not even encounter the strobo glitch once fir example.

Also rerolling is not easily done because consoles have special requirements for releasing updates. So they probably cannot do it.

Yeah understandable. I have the exclusive pieces for each DLC I’ve purchased on steam. I just think it’s strange for charms to be apart of a pack when you have all of the content. Charms are minuscule and it’s weird they’re locked behind this pack purchase.

at least offer it for an extremely discounted price if you already have each chapter included in the pack. Those are my thoughts.

They should do it like with the banners you unlock after buying X amount of a cosmetic collection. Just give them to us who already have everything.
