What are you talking about Pale Rose is very Survivor Sided with all the LoS blockers and both have the underside of the Docks and the buildings that can make the life very difficult for the Killer.

Haddonfield and Red Forest are extremely survivor-sided. Swamp is just unpleasant in general and has elements that screw over both sides - large dead zones, easy 3-gens, and numerous extremely exposed gens without nearby cover along with high visibility across the center of the map to annoy survivors; fairly large size, powerful/mazelike main and secondary buildings with unpredictable and sometimes OP RNG, weird spawns that often hug the edges of the map, and extremely concealing tall grass to annoy killers. The totems on this map are also a crazy 50/50, whether you're doing hexes or boons; they're either hurr durr out in the open or hiding behind a tree in the corner of the map. And have fun finding hatch.

  • I wish the rift fragments had been on offer earlier in the rift, versus at a time when many have already maxed it, but I can't complain about free BPs and shards! I just hope maybe we'll get some free ugly sweaters too, like last year.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/297316/why-aren-t-new-killers-allowed-to-be-strong

Because we aren't allowed strong killers they have to be able to bullied into submission by survivors. I swear bhvr don't even test viability against swfs etc.

BHVR really likes to pretend like SWFs aren't a problem or have no impact on the game's balancing. They'll fiercely defend the right for people to play with their friends (which is fair), but they refuse to acknowledge the massive performance gap that creates between solo players, or how much more difficult it is for killers to perform against skilled teams with perfect information versus skilled teams with no information. When they balance killers against solos, the intended gameplay bracket, killers get absolutely screwed versus comms.

  • I just pray for rebalancing that doesn't involve slapping a few breakable walls next to god windows and calling it a day. Or god forbid, Game-edition "more pallets!" All three of those realms are on the painful side - Swamp even sucks for survivors due to the massive dead zones it likes to form in the middle.

  • Exponential isn't a problem unless a team goes into the game forming a strategy around it, and even then, it doesn't matter if the killer doesn't slug (and isn't Twins - Twins are hyper screwed by this boon, but everyone else can deal with excessive Exponential use by just picking people up.)

I only see it being a problem in SWF cases where everyone is aggressively trying to flashlight/pallet save and there's 3-4 mixed Exponential/CoH boons on the map.

  • The map is absolutely beautiful. A bit too bright, but the visuals are incredible. My only problem is that the main building is filled with mandatory breakable walls. There's at least three of them next to god windows. Four? Very frustrating.

I can't speak for the Artist too much, as I've only played one match as her and I'm still getting used to her power. Seems much easier to use it as recon than it is to utilize it successfully in chases. Her counterplay seems a bit like Nurse's; move unpredictably. But unlike Nurse, she does force you to leave loops because she's a 115. I haven't had significant problems playing against her yet. Love her TR, though the ramp up when she's really close to you is on the quiet side and it can be misleading. Will have to get used to that.

  • In addition, this chapter update seems pretty un-buggy so far, knock on wood - so good work defusing those bombs before they could go off!

  • @Mandy said:

This is not a bug :)

I'm really happy to hear that! I always wanted that mask and I came too late for it.

That said... was getting Wraith's Withering Vines cosmetic a bug? Because I don't see why everyone would have gotten 1/3 of Wraith's Blight outfit, which also disappeared from the store (just the one piece) but the full outfit price remains unchanged. That one seems a little messed up.

  • Yeah, I was lowkey baffled about this on the PTB. Such a missed opportunity.

  • @Sad_ness61 said:

Lol that guy up me 100% blight or nurse main lmao. I agree with u, Lix. We are solo survivors. No one cares how game balanced for us...

It's not the killer that gets screwed over by people choosing to give up on the game... it's the other solo survivors. Why do you think people hate the players who do this? It's not because they get free kills and easy games. SWFs can avoid ragequitters because they pick their teammates, but I can't, and they constantly ruin my games by throwing in the towel only halfway through. And that's if I'm lucky and they even try to play at all.

  • So many games would have been winnable, or at least allowed 1-2 people to escape through the gates if everyone played their cards correctly, if people hadn't given up at the first sign of trouble and suicided on hook/ran straight for the killer if somebody unhooked you before you could die. Christ, the number of people who've told me they quit because the game was doomed, and the definition of 'doomed' was because someone got hooked before the first gen was completed...

Yeah, no. If you're going to bail on me, then at the very least, I'm going to farm some points off of your unsportsmanlike ass. You ever considered that if you even just ran in a straight line instead of trying to burn through all your hook states immediately, you could buy the rest of the team enough time to reset, or cram a gen?

I've had a spate of ragequitters on first hook lately. A few salty Deliverance users who never got to activate the perk, a few wannabe god loopers who couldn't handle getting downed too fast. Screw them. I will absolutely unhook you out of spite, and I cheer every time a killer chooses to slug someone who's trying to exit the game at the expense of the other players who are still fighting for the team. The only valid reason to quit a game early is to try and get the last player hatch, or if you have some kind of IRL situation to get to - and for that, you can just step away from the computer anyway.

I did some research and it is just for prime gaming. Meaning, you have to pay for prime in order to get the outfits...and yes...2 outfits...

That's unbelievably bullshit. I'm not buying a new gaming service to get an outfit. I'd have way less of a problem with this obvious promotion if it didn't take away the outfits that would have been made available to everyone otherwise.

  • Dwight looks way less adorable and I hate it. He needed the smudges under his eyes for his characteristic nervous look. Now he just looks confused. Not like my Dweety-boy at all.

And Laurie looks horrible on my PC. Like Kate, she's way too high contrast and the hair is a colossal mess, but there's something terribly wrong with her eyes too.

I like new-new David, though. And new Meg doesn't bother me - like Nea, the change is unobtrusive to me.

  • @Shroompy said:

its because they're gonna be doing twitch drops, and you're gonna be able to get an Artist skin, you also get Auric Cells

Will they at least announce when the Twitch drops are happening? I'd hate to miss out on a cosmetic this way, especially when her selection is so limited.

  • That's very bizarre. I also got Withering Vines which I've never bought, and I also randomly got Meg's Deathgarden mask (and on that note, everyone I've spoken to seems to have unlocked it as well.)

  • Seems intentional, but it's unusual for a killer to release with no Rare cosmetic options. Usually there'd be two.

  • This has benign uses too - you could spare a survivor that brought a double BP offering, for instance.

But yeah, mostly this would be used to punish unfavorable map offerings. Which is probably why this isn't a feature.

  • What's weird about this map is that if you look up, the sky itself is pretty dark. I don't know where all of the ambient light is coming from.

And yeah, while I love the new map's design, I'm not a fan of the switch to brighter maps.

  • I've intentionally started endgame collapses for the sake of a rift challenge, but told the other survivors that "oops, I didn't mean to hold on that long."

I also once brought the killer over to a group of survivors on a gen so I could take 'protection' hits, also for the rift.

    Ave Archives.

  • @GoshJosh said:

For starters, I'm not aware of any other killer perks that benefit survivors... someone please correct me if I'm wrong. (Unnerving Presence is debatable; I'm talking about the straight up benefit of faster healing DL gives the obsession.)

Hoarder, but yes, I see your point.

  • It's a win-more perk. By the time you have noticeable slowdown from it, either all the gens are mostly done and the slowdown doesn't help you, or so many gens remain that you would have won the game without the slowdown because you have so many hooks and dead or death-hooked survivors.

The perk also completely vanishes if you kill the obsession (compare to STBFL, which locks at its current stack level), so you have to ignore the super-healer player to get value out of it.

  • Whoa, wasn't expecting this at all. Maybe I'll end up getting to use Pentimento after all! The main issue (beyond boons) was that it wasn't easy to keep several relit totems up at once. Having one up for periods of time was a much easier goal.

Unfortunately, the perk is going to be one hundred percent useless for Adept Artist because nobody cleanses dulls anymore. Pentimento's an indirect buff to NOED, really.

  • This would be excellent, though really I'd settle for just speeding up the animation to buy items so you can just click without any of the delay.

that's really a weight off my shoulders. honestly, thanks for keeping me in the loop.

still not playing today until there's an official statement or something, though.

No problem. Sorry for all the doomsaying, but I've seen all the Twitter horror stories...

And I think that's a good idea. They'll likely make an official statement about this soon; that's a safe all-clear to use.

  • As somebody who was hit by the issue, it seems to have been fixed with minimal or no losses, and I'm considerably less worried than I was an hour ago... but I'd still rather not risk it until we get official word that everything's stable. Probably best to keep the game off for now.

  • Well, I have some good news - spoke to a twitch community that seems to have only lost bloodpoints or nothing at all, and have been able to get back in since. I was able to log back in finally and my account seems exactly where I left off - same number of bloodpoints and shards, same status of rift challenges that I completed today.

Not sure I want to push things and keep playing tonight, but that's a huge weight off my shoulders. Here's hoping this is the same for everyone else here who's been affected by this.

to specify, when I said "I'll be fine, right?" I meant, "I won't lose my progress based on how far I got accidentally, right?".

I can't tell you. I don't know what's going to happen. All I know is that if you ran into the error message, you're at risk, and in the past, BHVR has handled this error horribly and we're all at risk of having our accounts nuked.

  • Total account wipe, all characters reset, and they credit you with an amount of bloodpoints equal to your total earnings throughout the game (so tens or hundreds of millions... but with all the obnoxious time it takes to spend them.) Your cell purchases and DLCs are fine, but things you earned from events - items, charms, cosmetics - are gone. People lost even legacy outfits from this. Presumably your archives are all cleared too.

I'm praying that's not what happens this time, or I'll probably ragequit the game right here and now.

    cool.

    thanks for the heads up.

I started signing in, it said restart, and I did.

it just finished restarting, but it didn't finish signing in.

    I'll be O.K, right?

Nnnno? It's still broken because whatever's causing this glitch is still active. I don't know why you walked into this knowing that there was an account-eating error on the line. Knowing how much stuff was on your account won't help you - people in the past have provided proof of owning certain items or cosmetics and they still couldn't get BHVR to restore them.

  • @Mooks said:

Why are you announcing this here?

why do you fear you could lose progress?

Many people across platforms are getting hit with save game errors as of the past half hour. I got whacked with it and now I'm on tenterhooks for the future of my account. Can't log in anymore, it just tells me my data is corrupted.

    20211129174148_1.jpg

So yeah. If you haven't logged in? I wouldn't risk it. Historically this glitch has been catastrophic.

  • Do yourself a favor and don't log in. You stand to lose way more than your current BP and shards if the glitch hits you and they end up doing their previous methods of fixing it.

  • @PyramidHeadBigBooty said:

Um yeah, it happened on the Switch too. Man, I don’t want anything happening with my progress, especially my iridescent shards. I've worked my butt off to get the amount I currently have. 😖

I've heard that shards will be preserved, and if worst comes to worst, they'll compensate you with an amount of bloodpoints that equals the total amount you've ever earned. Your DLCs and shop purchases are also safe. What's at risk, historically, is all event/time-limited cosmetics and unlocks, and all of your characters may end up set to level 1 again with wiped inventories, no perks, etc. Rift earnings might also be at stake, but most reports of this error I've heard of came from before they existed. I've also never heard of this error happening on such a widespread scale, which gives me a flicker of hope that it might not end as badly as it has before.

  • That'd require BHVR to admit it's terrible, which they're not going to do.

Ormond gave us unrealistic expectations for what we'd get out of the map revamps. The team behind the Realm Beyond seems to have little to no interest in balancing maps with the reworks, just updating the graphics and changing the lighting for some inexplicable reason.

  • I can't wait to visit the new map again. I can't get over how amazing it looks. Plus I've got my shards ready for crow mama and her kickass menu music.

  • I have tons of fun with Pig and Wraith, though Pig especially can get very easily bullied if survivors loop well. Poor girl has near-zero chase power.

  • @Pizzasauce said:

Wait - so it's over? I thought we had all of today?

Yeah. I really dislike when a company will say an event is running from Date A to Date B, when the event ends at like 9am on Date B and it only runs the full day of Date A to Date B-1. It's so misleading.

At least I snuck in a few more double BP matches this morning before it ended.

(My bloodpoint counter is still glowing, but I imagine it will stop glowing once I log out and log back in.)

  • It's a pretty damn thankless task at times. I prefer bringing bloodpoint offerings as killer because I have greater control over match yield and I'm not subject to getting facecamped or hard tunneled out, but even then you get the same situation - sometimes you'll get survivors that want to slam gens and get out the door in less than five minutes and nobody gets more than 12k points. Or everyone ragequits on their first down and the last survivor jumps through hatch. I'm always left wondering why. If I see double bloodpoints in the loadout, why wouldn't I take advantage of that?

That has been the thing with every single exploitabele spot in the game. Any spot that is reachable by survivors, is reachable by killers.

As for how is your average killer player supposed to know? Same for the average survivor. You learn about it in 1 game, try to figure out how to do it yourself untill you know or untill their teammates have finished the last gen.

If they do keep you hostage, stay there without doing any gens, start recording and send it over to the devs, as hostage keeping IS bannable. Survivors going on there are survivors who arent working on gens, if they remain there, they are literally the least of your worries and the game can still end through EGC. It's not untill it's an active effort by an entire team to keep you hostage that it's bannable.

None of that is the point. A random player may know or not know how to get into that spot, depending on if they're active in the game's social media. It doesn't matter if the killer knows and the survivor doesn't because the killer needs to be chasing the survivors if they want to win the game, so going into the spot achieves nothing. If both players know how to reach the spot, nothing happens beyond some minor time-wasting trying to get the right path up. But a survivor that goes into a spot a killer doesn't know how to reach is invincible. They cannot progress the game while in that spot, but they are a distraction and they can go into the spot while being chased for an automatic 'haha screw you' button. The killer has to either waste loads of time experimenting (giving the others free gens) or give up whenever the survivor goes there. This is why survivors go into these spots. It is deliberate use of an exploit in the hopes that the other player doesn't know how to deal with it. The purpose typically isn't hostage-taking, it's to win the game through unfair means.

Treating it like it's an intended part of strategy that has fair counterplay is BS. A player usually won't know about this until they encounter the glitch themselves. That's the point. Players can't be expected to know how to handle this. I don't understand why BHVR is chill with players abusing exploits to win as long as it doesn't result in 3-hour long games. Why is 'the game can still end' the bottom line of what's acceptable gameplay? The game could still end when Charlotte could bodyblock survivors in the basement while Victor hunted the ones that weren't, because she'd still come back to clean them up eventually. That didn't make that okay. BHVR should take a stance against it because it's against intended gameplay design and clearly in bad faith. Their current 'eh, whatever, we'll get rid of it eventually' mentality encourages people to find and abuse exploits because the only possible punishment for doing it is having the exploit removed after a month or two of trolling players with it.

Even killswitching the map is better than letting this keep happening.

  • Both? Because while I'm way more competent of a killer than I am a survivor, I'm also a woobie who has trouble killing players, so I'd probably let myself go after I caught me.

  • Dwights come in many flavors - adorable and clueless, memey, average, strong but understated, nasty. I find Dweards and brightly clothed Dwights have a higher chance to be toxic, but none even come close to the dreaded Dwelf. Their plastic ears and jingly bells are a festive prelude to the extreme sports version of BMing. If you ever see a lobby of four Dwelves, run.

I literally am exactly the same way (Plague / Pig main LOL) omg

But that's good to hear. I just hope other people are having a half decent time at least. I think I'm going to take a little break til Tuesday instead of letting toxic people affect me, honestly my main goal is to get that Plague skin before the Rift closes and I think I have plenty of time still to get it.

Hell yeah. Good taste squad! That new Plague skin is absolutely incredible and I'm so happy she finally got some love. And Pig's getting a new outfit in the next rift, which I am psyched for.

I wouldn't give up just yet. My advice would be instead of overtly approaching to farm, try 2-hooking everyone and then asking to farm afterwards. If you start by farming, you waste lots of time if survivors don't want to farm or don't understand you, and the game won't be salvageable by the time you give up trying to communicate. I wasted a lot of cakes that way during the anniversary event*, and that's where I found my strategy. Start off by playing normal and then let everyone live at the end if that's your style - that way you'll get plenty of points no matter what happens, and so should everyone else.

*(There was one game I played with Pyramid Head, with 5 cakes in play, and I spent the first two gens drawing 'FARM' in the middle of the map. I got no response, wasted the game trying to be friendly, and ended up with 2 hooks and 10k score as a last-ditch effort. When I spoke to a survivor in postgame chat, they told me they saw the 'farm' but thought I was just trying to say that we were on a farm... because it was Coldwind. Probably one of the biggest facepalms of my DBD career.)

  • Well, first my mouse broke and I lost a day and a half of Bloodhunt. (I could click, but I couldn't hold M1 - no gens or heals, no lunges.) Then I was having okay survivor games - got one chill Ghostface who wanted to vibe and a chunk of decent games, and an equal number of ruthless ones that ended way too quickly and the killer didn't relent even when they had clear control of the match (unfortunately, all of my bloody party streamers fell into this category... what a waste. Sometimes it feels like BPS are cursed.)

But I've been having a better time after switching to killer. I have lots of cakes to bring, and I've been trying to maximize BP gain for everyone. The only downside is that Plague and Pig both have bad BP gain (Plague especially, because then survivors get bad BP too) and I can't use my girls. I also managed to get the 'sacrifice 4 survivors in basement' challenge against a team I didn't feel too bad about doing that to - one tbagger and one lag switcher. I did feel bad about the other two casualties, but I'd chalked that achievement down to 'never getting it' and I couldn't abandon the opportunity to. So I'm feeling pretty good about the Bloodhunt now!

  • Wow, that's an absolutely terrible take. How is your average killer player supposed to know how to get up there? I first encountered this from one of my teammates and the poor Nemesis wasted 3 gens trying to get Bill off of the wagon - and that was a ranged killer who could technically get the shot at a very precise angle. Awful decision on BHVR's part. They need to patch this, not sweep it under the rug with a 'well, it's technically possible for the killer to deal with this.'

  • This. Where did mods say that? Because this looks like an exploit to me. That'd be like saying the glitched rock formations on Ormond or Yamaoka were legal because the killer could also get up there, and those got patched out soon after.

  • And people wonder why killers get bitter. It's always such a baffling experience when you're ready to drop a GGWP and then a SWF goes off on you.

That said, there's no winning with these kinds of people and the best thing to do is ignore them, not keep engaging with them. They want a rise out of you and will take literally any response from you as gratification.

  • I never got a chance to play as Artist on the PTB (wait times were too long for me to bother), so I'm mainly looking forward to the new map and music. I'll get a shot to try her out soon enough, but again I'll probably be playing survivor for a few days just because of the killer queues. Maybe I'll finally have an excuse to bring some flashlights.

Artist seems neat, but I'm very uninterested in the new survivor and probably won't bother with him for a while.

  • @nostrada96ass said:

i used lots of medkit yesterday but never knew 16charge not enough to heal

is this still a thing or only happen in console

It's inconsistent. Sometimes 16 charges is enough to heal, sometimes it's a fraction of a charge shy.

  • I don't have many BPS on survivors and I tend to save them for the rare occasions I play with a SWF. I've used a few this bloodhunt and none of them were on worthwhile games - they were all against killers who were trying to end the game as quickly as possible and I didn't get decent points out of it.

  • I had level 70 before chapter 3 of the tome came out. I'm a simple woman - I see Plague cosmetics, I put my pedal to the metal.
