  • The meta perk changes are coming with basekit changes, so they're likely going to implement something regarding gen speeds and then nerf the most popular slowdown perks.

Vote Meg. I saw her near the basement with Dwight's body!

Nah, man, gotta be self-report. I saw Claudette running around, but she wasn't doing any tasks.

  • Ooh, that's a bop. Might as well share mine while we're on this.

    Also, some more event gameplay!

Feng bartended, sat me at a table... and then propositioned me. Wining and dining first, how classy. (I sat down too early the first time and she kept poking the cash register until I came back over, it was great.)

For everyone who says killers are sweating when they see event offerings, last night I got a basement Bubba who decided not to basement because he saw the survivors used four flans. Guy played a normal game until something weird happened with a grab validation, and then we chilled for the rest of the match after he and I spent a moment staring at each other. Was a really wholesome endgame interaction and a reminder that it's really not all bad out there.

Because this first downed survivors has the most info/look on how the game will go. They know which (OP) Killer it is, multiple perks/addons, skill of the person playing the killer, bad latency hits. these are all things that determine how fun a match will be.

But the main thing is that the first downed survivor can see what the 3 teammates are doing (while getting carried to the hook) . And let me tell you that 9/10 times its not fun to look at, just people slow walking/crouching/doing totems/hiding in locker...

Everyone also hates specific maps or going against the same killer multiple games in a row.

In short, there are LOTS of reasons to die first hook, why would you stay in that match when you have enough experience to determine that you will have fun or not, i rather go next game knowing there is a high chance it will be more fun.

DCing over your info at the first hook is still stupid. You don't know if that totem they're cleansing is a hex, or if they're dropping a fat boon into the game. I've had people ragequit because I wasn't running to save them, because my gen was 95% and I planned to get them after it was done. Heck, even the guy standing still or entering a locker might just be checking a text message or stepped out to get a package at the door. There's definitely bad omens you can get from the aura read on your teammates, but quitting over them is worse than anything your teammates might be doing. I've had games where I went "######### seriously?" at all three of my teammates crouching/walking around when I first got hooked, and the game turned out fine and 3/4e'd. You don't know how it's gonna go until it plays out.

  • I'm absolutely baffled that these addons giving her a basekit blink speed buff is apparently working as intended. Like, they don't see how that makes Nurse more lethal at shorter range and is essentially a massive secondary buff to an already good addon? It's bizarre.

  • Most survivors will agree that Billy is enjoyable to face (and I raise an eyebrow at anyone complaining about him nowadays), but the consensus is that he's not nearly as fun to play as he used to be. Part of it is a series of changes that hit him all at once - bad addon pass, overheat, wobbly movement cam, roar when he starts sprinting - but part of it is that he also got powercrept by a lot of killers that could suddenly do parts of his kit better than he can. Oni is a smoother, easier to hit, more forgiving Billy when he charges up his power. Bubba has a far easier time scoring instadowns with his chainsaw and a far lower skill floor. Blight has stronger map mobility and an easier time using his power to hit people. As it stands, while Billy takes an immense amount of skill to master, the payoff isn't really worth it compared to what other killers can do with that same level of mastery.

Plus they just killed Skybilly, which was the last beloved thing Billy was famous for. It's likely you're just facing salty survivors who'd quit over anything that went poorly for them.

I'm personally pretty terrible with him, though I haven't put in the time to try beyond knocking out his achievements and archive challenges (unlike Nurse, who I did spend time on and am still terrible with.)

  • Pettiness. They don't like the map, the killer, how the killer played, or how they played during their first chase, so they scuttle the entire game for everyone.

It's especially baffling now, when every game is bloodpoint city.

  • @KurnDisciple said:

Gen rushing is a made up term. If the killer is downing people in a reasonable timeframe and has a gen perk or two they are always going to have the potential for at least 2 kills. If you have 3+ slowdown perks then it's just them playing poorly. Killers who rage they can't 3-4k every game are just entitled imo.

I don't think you're entirely correct here. Gen rush has a meaning, or rather had a meaning that's been distorted. When the term first emerged, it meant the survivors brought a bunch of fat toolboxes with BNPs, or the survivors completely ignore hooked survivors or healing in order to slam gens - like they'll let someone sit on hook for 100 seconds in order to pump gens and only swoop out to unhook once they're done. Neither of these things are particularly common, though, and the term's morphed into a general complaint about chase speeds or lack of pressure.

It's sort of like how camping and tunneling get misused - people will cry about being camped in endgame/because the killer stopped to break a pallet and kick a gen/because everyone was swarming the hook, or tunneling because they got downed a few times in quick succession or because they got unhooked in front of the killer and there was no reason not to down them again.

  • The Whispers sound effect annoys me too much. It's a shame, because I'd use the perk otherwise.

  • @Unicorn said:

Mine would be standing at Exit to allow the killer to get a down before crawling out.

    What about you?

For the record, I think the rule of thumb with that is that it's fine if the killer is right there, but if the killer isn't nearby, making them come over is rude. Many killers are also leery about the hit-outs because it seems like most survivors will beckon and then dead hard out when they approach, and they don't trust the gesture anymore.

Mine would be not killing survivors after two hooks and instead having chases and then letting people pick the downs up until my points were maxed. It usually goes over okay, but I've watched streams, and for every 'what is this killer doing' and 'I think he's being friendly', I've been accused of everything from holding the game hostage to trying to get a 4-man slug to just plain being an idiot who doesn't know how to play.

    Was this on Coldwind?

Was just about to ask that. There's weird spawns on there right now where a pair of hooks will spawn right next to each other.

  • Hey, Ghostface is just giving you a free photo op! He usually charges hella royalties for that.

I just bought Deathslinger and I'm having a god-awful time with him. I'm getting roflstomped by pretty weak players because I keep trying to use his gun, failing horribly, and then scrambling to M1 people while the final gens get done and poaching a few more hooks at the exit gates. God, though, that harpoon's hitbox is a pinprick. I know I suck at aiming, but I'm not nearly this incompetent with Huntress, Trickster, Plague, or Artist. Eesh. Knew there was a reason I saved this guy for last.

Everything else has been fine, though. Few fun games, few boring ones. Got 3 RPDs within 5 games, all as Wraith, and pulled my hair out.

  • Strong perks I thought would be changed: Dead Man's Switch and Devour Hope (super happy this one isn't being touched, though)

Weak perks I thought would be changed: Buckle Up, Furtive Chase, Hangman's Trick, Up The Ante, Solidarity, Overwhelming Presence, Beast of Prey, and Predator

There's always time for more miscellaneous perk buffs later on, though.

Can't say I'm too surprised at Unbreakable. It's powerful, but it's also very balanced; only being able to be used once caps just how revolutionary it can be in a match, and considering the BT and DS changes are circling around a presumed baked-in protection mechanic, I don't think they consider slugging a problem on the same level as facecamping or how tunneling is the dominant strategy for killers trying to win.

Yeah, this is why I don't 'farm' in the traditional sense. If I want to farm, instead I 2 hook and then hit to injure, letting people heal up and do gens at their own pace. I generally end up capped on most things, as do they.

I think the issue here was that I wasn't farming in the traditional sense, though. The Yui was scared, too dumb or paranoid to understand that the killer carrying you to a teammate and letting you wiggle off means the killer is probably being friendly, and said "nah fam" to her teammate. Which is sadge, because they also let another player die on hook earlier that match and Steve was the only one I cared to save. :P

That said, that's how I play it too, unless the survivors meme first or I get a map I really effing don't want to play on. Two hooks on everyone and then I'll downgrade myself to a nuisance until my points are capped or until a survivor memes (which happens pretty often, I find, once they get the idea you're not killing them.)

No I simply say "don't use them in soloq". Why give extra BPs to a camping and tunneling killer and/or team mates who don't do ######### but are crouched in a corner waiting for everyone to die so they can take the hatch?

As long as you get enough points to buy another cake, does it even matter?

Besides, I'll complain about solo as much as anyone else, but it's not always that braindead. There are far more people I'd like to give BP to or are neutral about (mostly I'm neutral about them) than ones that I go "damn it, and they profited off my offering too, the scumbag." You figure for every game where one dip ragequits, there's two other innocent teammates involved. And if the killer's a 5-gen tunneler or a basement Bubba - unless you hate your teammates too, you're still helping more survivors than you are killers.

Like my normal rule of thumb is to never use streamers in solo because those games are too unreliable, but right now, I have enough flan to use every match, and I can basically always buy more afterward, so why wouldn't I?

  • @FeelsBadMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3007101#Comment_3007101

Meanwhile the killer got 35k PLUS the flan points. Just stop bringing cakes, its really not worth it if you play soloq. All you do is encourage killers to play as dirty as possible cause they will always get more points than the survivors.

And others are farming or playing chill. Personally, I'm 2-hooking teams that bring flan and killing the ones who don't.

Use your cakes now so you can buy more cakes. It's not like anything different will happen if you use them half a year from now - people not showing mercy is nothing new under the sun. But in those future games, you won't have 3 or 4 other flans in effect so that you rake in the bloodpoints even on lost games, and you won't have oodles more flan in the bloodweb. So unless you're going to go full "I'm not going to use my cakes because I don't want anyone to get extra bloodpoints if my opponents get more than me", you may as well keep going, you know?

  • Earlier today, I hooked a Steve that I'd previously had some friendly interactions with - the only survivor I'd really done so with that match - right at the exit gate. The Feng in the gate left and the Yui tried to run. I downed Yui, brought her back to the hook, and dropped her until she wiggled off.

She ignored Steve and ran straight out again. There's just no reasoning with some people.

  • Honestly, the fact that you all got above 10k isn't that bad. The DCs suck, but 15k isn't 'I wasted my cake' levels of getting booted out of the game early.

  • @JohnnyB87 said:

Actually, a killer farming with a survivor is grounds for banning. It's considered colluding which is against the rules, but most players let it go. But if you're gonna farm, better do it with all survivors or you could get banned. And if you say it isn't bannable, look under "working with the killer" and it's 100% bannable lol

Nah, working with the killer only counts against your teammates. Mods have said that farming isn't encouraged but isn't bannable either, unless you force unwilling players to farm.

  • That's the finest tier list I've ever seen. It's a work of educational art.

She looks like she has a moustache.

I can't unsee that, and now - neither can you.

    You absolute monster...

Anyway, I'm fine with all of the default heads except Ace. That cap really ruins the vibe. Deathslinger's hat blends in perfectly with his mask and that union was done well, but Ace needs to take off the cap.

I doubt they'd work as clip-ons to existing cosmetics; there would be major clipping with any other cosmetic that involves masks or even hats.

  • Joey supremacy! I just bought his gameplay expo body with the first batch of event shards. Not sure what mask to pair with it, though; I don't like the altered breathing that comes with the one from that set. Cool idea, annoying in practice.

The rubber banding hasn't been horrible to me - maybe once every five games, it pulls me back in a chase - but I am getting a lot of stuttering that's messing with skill checks.

  • Yeah, uh, with your previous posts saying you're not entitlted - press X to doubt. Are we really being salty about not being the one to get let go? Or that the killer is, god forbid, killing everyone? Giving hatch has been a thing for years.

Consider - if the killer spares everyone, their MMR tanks to the point of facing off with newbies, and they get less points while the game takes several minutes longer for them at the least. They're also more liable to get BMed on the assumption that the killer didn't actually let anyone live and the survivors pulled it off themselves.

Just be happy if you had a long match where you got a lot of points. You are not owed farming.

  • Plaything has become one of my favorite perks. Even without Pentimento to back it up, it's amazing for both slowdown and the opportunities it creates for free hits. All the paranoia in the world can't prepare you for a killer walking out around a corner. It's no good on stealth or lullaby killers, but on everyone else, it's pretty fantastic.

As survivor, Detective's Hunch is seriously underrated. Any hexes are toast, and you can disable NOED without lifting a finger until the gates get powered.

  • I've actually been having pretty good games. I had one griefer killer, one toxic 2-man SWF, three rounds of solo queue teammates that left me to die/hook farmed me, and a few groups of your average tbagging survivors that thought they big brain outplayed me when I was screwing around after two hooks, but on the whole I've been having good games. Haven't faced any mega sweaty survivors, and I can think of a few survivor games where I'm like 80% sure the killer deliberately extended the match instead of doing the most expedient thing for them.

That said, my killer MMR is tanking right now because I keep sparing people, so... that's almost assuredly why my killer games are so easygoing.

  • Oh, okay, it's 11:30 then. And the Rift Fragments would explain why I wasn't getting anything yesterday. I like that they're stacking it so that you can claim rewards even if you miss a single day - that's a cool new feature.

  • People 99 gates to save their teammates, not kill them. It prevents the endgame collapse from starting at a time when the team isn't ready to get out and stops Blood Warden. I cannot count the number of times I've died or had to leave someone behind because someone started EGC early.

This sounds more like an issue with your teammates not waiting around the gates to take hits, or open it when they see you running in with the killer on your tail. If someone else 99ed a gate, they should generally be available for that.

  • @VaJaybles said:

You don't. I just had a few games that never made it to endgame but I still got the mask.

Same. I'm pretty sure it's bugged and just gives you the mask regardless.

I do think it's unfair that they intend to make things harder for survivors than killers, even if I see the logic behind it. It's better than last year's restrictions, at least.

  • I'm wearing them! Not a lot of the killers I play got masks, though. (Survivors, I main Jane and Dwight and I'm working on P3ing Yui, so I have plenty of opportunity.)

This is the best mask match there is, in my opinion.

    20220618104118_1.jpg

  • TFW you're such a gamer you don't need Sprint Burst - getting a speed boost once per match at a specific moment is enough for you.

And the double dipper up top... what lads.

  • Yeah, it's frustrating. I luckily got it on my... fourth? try due to the last survivor just going up to one of those fire barrels and waiting for me. Whenever I find a Judith's Tombstone Myers and I don't think it's possible to escape, I don't put up a fuss about dying. Sometimes I'll try to be the last one standing so that I can make it easy for them. That achievement is obnoxiously reliant on a lack of spite from opponents in a type of match that very few people enjoy playing. You'll find that when you do catch the last person away from a locker, they're liable to DC on you.

That said, this probably isn't the best time to do the achievement. Everyone wants bloodpoints and it's flan city out there. Tombstone Myers games are some of the worst BP gain matches across the board and you're liable to get a lot of salt just for that.

  • @Slowpeach said:

Especially with the masquerade on, I won't kill but I'll generally do my best (which isn't that good anyway) to get 2 hooks on everyone. After that, boop me as much as you want.

My personal favourite as Pig though is putting reverse bear traps on survivors AFTER the generators are done so they are useless.

"I want to play a game... The game is... I have to give you a hat without it blowing up and killing you!". I've given it to 4 survivors once, 3 survivors once and 2 survivors four times :D.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3005451#Comment_3005451

I'm going to start doing this too.

Pigs that do this are my absolute saviors. One of these Jigsaw-acolyte legends was how I finally got the Left For Dead achievement after several thousand hours of trying (except that one made me do the last gen first for extra spiciness, so the trap was active.)

Anyway, I haven't really seen many Pigs lately, and the ones I have have all played in a way that made me think booping was a futile endeavor. I miss Tome 10 and the wave of oinkers that filled the Realm.

  • Yep. Been here before in the exact same scenario. It's rare, but it happens where you can play a normal game, spare people at the end, and they get pissy about the sparing. It's literally impossible to please Schrodinger's survivor. Everyone wants something different. The only solution is to just do whatever you want, because playing to please someone else just does not work.

My policy this event has been to spare as long as the survivors aren't rude, and if they brought more than one flan. If they don't bring me bloodpoints, then I'm playing on regular match rules (and I need to keep my MMR up or else it'll just be solid newbies eventually.) So I probably wouldn't have spared that group on two counts, they clearly didn't come into the game looking to make nice, but if you can find it in your heart, all the more power to you.

(Love Amanda's Letter Pig, btw. Such an underrated build. Fun as hell to sneak up on people and come swinging from around a corner.)

  • Scoops Ahoy Steve got me on the Steve bandwagon through sheer memetical power.

"Her brutality isn't necessarily the best"

    "It's only 300 per hit"

"Plague doesn't stack BP the same way as other killers"

"Bubba getting 800 for a chainsaw hit"

^ You're already short on Brutality by default, your only choice is deviousness at that point plus spreading infection on objects----> Should be most of your spit anyway---> Leads to near non existent points during a gen rush due to limited downs and hooks even while infecting people you're still going to have a higher Deviousness spread than any other points. Its the same point spread with Pig.

I mean, sure, but any killer is going to have horrible points if they get genrushed and only get a few chases? I don't really see the point you're making.

And the 25 points per vomming on random objects is really low, especially when it takes ~40s to wear off and become re-eligible. I can spend the entirety of a farming game spitting on random objects I would never bother with in a serious game and still get <5k deviousness.

Pig has bad Deviousness too, on account of Ambush having limited use and the traps only conferring a fraction of the cap. Like if you asked me to pick the 3 killers with the worst power score gain, I'd have said Plague, Pig, and Myers.

  • I'm thinking it's possible with any of the licenses that seem pretty friendly and open to continued collaboration. Stranger Things would have been a shoo-in if Netflix hadn't pulled the plug. I'm thinking Resident Evil might be on board, given we're about to get a whole new chapter out of them.

I'd love to see Silent Hill above all others, but I get the impression it's not happening - not because they aren't open to new BHVR releases, because they totally are, but because I get the impression lore specifically isn't on the table.

...Or Elm Street, but that's really not happening. Poor Freddy.

  • That's your match total, which only sums up the points you got inside the match. Post-match multipliers like Flan, WGLF, and BBQ are applied on the screen that you first load into when you exit a game.

Rest assured you're getting your bloodpoints.

  • @PigMainBigBrain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3005059#Comment_3005059

Plague doesn't stack BP the same was as other killers, you get points for deviousness in mass but thats about it. Her other scores are usually terrible. So if you get gen rushed, you're out of luck.

Eh? Plague's Devious gain is #########. You've gotta Corrupt Purge like 20 people on top of your usual vomming activities to max it. It's only 300 per hit, which is not great for a power she doesn't always have. See Bubba getting 800 for a chainsaw hit or Wraith getting 550 for an uncloak hit. And puking on things is only 25 points, which is terrible.

Her Brutality isn't necessarily the best, but it's pretty much the same issue as all instadowners; less stabs equals less points. She's one of the worst BP earners, but I'll still get maybe 22k points on a match where everyone escapes.

  • My guess is that Prove Thyself is working as intended and Overzealous is too weak (which has been very strident feedback since the PTB.) There's no possible way Overzealous is getting nerfed.

  • If you're scoring less than survivors on the regular, something is extremely wrong with matchmaking or just your gameplay. Mostly it sounds like your MMR is too high and needs to come down so that you're facing opponents more at your skill level. I'm a Plague main too and I still score way more than survivors, even with the Deviousness handicap she comes with.

As for the salt in the wound after losing, I think BHVR should put forth some incentives or whatnot to improve sportsmanship. I dislike how apathetic or even welcoming they are to BM in the community, because it's pretty rampant and it's not improving most players' experiences.

    @Canas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3004224#Comment_3004224

Or it could mean that matchmaking is flatout not working. The game's supposed to adapt to the killer's MMR and yet that doesn't happen. Survivors still bring the same perks into my games while I'm getting bodied for trying to play in a non-meta way. It's an absolutely terrible experience and I'm appalled that the devs still haven't created a space for casual players like me.

Problem with creating a casual space is that you can't really define it mechanically. There's no way to stop players from entering the 'casual area' with the aim of getting easy opponents and the intent to play as sweaty as possible, which defeats the point.

  • I just ran into my first douchebag. Currently being 4-man bled out by a Knockout Doctor who pretty much kept spamming shock until everyone was madness 3 and nobody could pick each other up anymore.

Still, that's my first bad egg killer in like 15 survivor matches, which isn't bad at all. As for killer, I had one group of solos where two members were toxic AF (played normal in game, harassed in endgame chat), one Garden of Joy Boil Over abuser, and a few that wanted to farm but wouldn't give me hooks, but overall my matches have been pretty pleasant too. Notably, I just played against a Trapper on Lery's who gave me so much slack; I wiggled off right before a hook but stood there and let him hook anyway, and he let decided not to hook me and was super lax about pursuing me for the rest of the game. We got some basement saves we absolutely shouldn't and I'm pretty sure he was taking it easy. I eventually died, but with 24k and 4 flans; not a bad haul at all.

  • That's great news! Had a feeling that the reticence was due to stuff being rediscussed internally. Really glad this is going to get sorted out.

Removing the contribution cap and making it 100% cumulative should be enough of a fix, but I'm down for lowering the numbers too, or whatever they have in mind,.

  • Nuh-uh! He's just checking to make sure everything in the barrel is properly on fire. With his face.

No hatchets for you, Ma'am. But the real question: what if a Survivor was inside? Stuck forever? The Entity can be mean sometimes, to both Killers and Survivors.

Heh, so. Other players see the locker normally when a killer (or a survivor, I've seen it happen with Head Ons) gets too overzealous and tips a locker over, so a survivor can hide inside it - which, to the killer, will be standing there in plain sight. Oops.

  • I doubt it's a prank - I think it's more of a misprojection on what the community is capable of or likely to do in regards to keeping a challenge active (or prioritizing it over the tome that was released a day before, for that matter.)

I have no doubt they'll adjust the requirements. They don't want to withhold the community rewards.

  • As far as I can tell, you unlock the mask as long as you interact with the podium. I've died well before endgame on several occasions and still unlocked something.

  • If it's capped so that everyone can only contribute 40, then I can't imagine we're getting any of these challenges done. You'd get a huge burst at the start and then a trickle, and our 'huge burst' was maybe a fifth of the bar.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv0TSofXC1w

That's the second time I've seen Ninja Gaiden crop up for some absolutely banger tracks. I should check out the whole OST one of these days...

Anyway, I come bearing more screenshots of horrible depravity.

    flan.jpg

Look at this. See who isn't using flan? That's right, it's the killer. The survivors have brought four entire flan to celebrate the anniversary and the killer is profiting off of their generosity with an inferior offering. The greed of killers knows no bounds :(

    crouchrace.jpg

Survivors crouching in the exit gate! Sound the alarms. This is the most toxic thing that has ever happened in a game and can only be rectified by a sentence of one million years dungeon Basement Bubba. I am 100% being mocked and these survivors definitely aren't having a crouch race out the gates after creeping through Lery's single-file while jamming out to my sweet mixtapes.

(I was trying to 2-hook everyone, but the last person died on hook. She crouches with them in Valhalla. I didn't mean to do it officer I swear)

    facepalm.jpg

The next survivors were punished in accordance with the ancient killer laws. This Leon was faceplanted into a fire barrel and forced to fast vault in and out of lockers while suffering the curse of No Mither (clearly a toxic tryhard, smh.) Not pictured here, the Ash who had to do shack gen while I fast vaulted the window next to him for the entire thing, or the survivors who had to listen to me AEEHUAGH over and over again as a form of self-expression.

(I didn't know about the barrel faceplant before today, but if you get a flashlight and shine it down, you get some hilarious results. Ideas for your own very toxic survivor games!)

  • Wow. Look at that mass slugging. Disgusting. Learn to play the game correctly, 4head.

I'm loading into a match right now, but I can show you the results of my latest toxic survivor game.

Steve squad littered all over the floor. Forgot to take a picture of the underpaid Dredge who had to clean up the whole mess. He then proceeded to hide from the responsibility by fleeing into lockers across the match - the aggressive Steves chased after him and intruded on his privacy until enough was enough for the poor killer and he took most of them to Brazil, then threw the last one at the gates in a plea to finally be left in peace from all of the rampant toxicity in this community. Think of the killers!

Hello Laluzi, here at Amazon we value our customers and their safety. If you’re dissatisfied with our product, we would be happy to refund it fully and send a replacement your way.

Yes, DoritoHead - I've received the replacement, and at this stage, I'd like to speak with your manager. The Demogorgon I ordered arrived in a timely fashion, but came out of its packaging covered head to claw in webs of a sticky whitish substance and had a behavioral oddity that caused it to compulsively nod. Either this Demogorgon came straight from a Demo mill or it was the subject of an extremely unfortunate encounter, and I'm deeply concerned about the conditions in which your Demogorgons are being kept.

    Also, it had NOED.
