It's honestly very impressive how many words it can take someone to say "I enjoy being a bully" without actually saying the words "I enjoy being a bully." Well done!

The only bully I see in this conversation is you.

StarLost and I have kept it quite civil, then you showed up to make fun of me for… what?

    Offering an unpopular opinion?

Tell me you don’t see the irony.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3142834#Comment_3142834

Yeah, it is. And you're agreeing with me here - just without realizing it. Because the 'stimulation' you seem to require to enjoy yourself comes from making other people even more frustrated and miserable after a tough game.

On the other hand, saying something like 'well tried' or 'that game was cursed' is likely to at least leave them feeling a little better about themselves - and believe it or not, will actually leave you feeling better too. Because you're showing respect, not just for their effort, but for the game as a whole.

That is the objective - sorry, I don't believe you when you say 'I'm just seeking out people who enjoy being nasty...to be my friends...by being nasty to them...' yeah, no. That's not how people work. If you were after like minded people, there are plenty of other avenues to find them. Not to mention the whole mea-culpa 'no, if someone demeans themselves sufficiently I'll extend an olive branch'...ugh. No. That definitely rubs me up the wrong way, it's textbook bully.

If you are telling the truth, there's an interesting little legal concept called 'due diligence' or, in some quarters, 'foreseeable harms'. Basically, even if you do not intend to inflict harm, if your actions are - as per the judgement of a hypothetical reasonable person - likely to cause harm, then you are responsible for that harm. Obviously, 'harm' is a tricky word here as we're talking about an online interaction, but that's generally the language used, and it's applicable here in a moral sense, if not a legal one.

Basically, you're either being a sadist, or you're being willfully negligent with much the same outcome.

Either way - not healthy for anyone involved.

I was never disagreeing with you, so much as trying to make you aware that the behavior is far more nuanced than you appear to believe.

I’m also not here to offer a critique or to pass judgement on the behavior, beyond the scope of “is it bannable?”

Whether or not it is ‘healthy’ is a question to be answered by someone with more professional experience than I.

I thought I’ve made myself pretty clear thus far, so I’m a bit thrown by your choice to mention legal terms. “gg ez” is hardly negligent. Where are you going with that?

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3141844#Comment_3141844

The intent to harm is plain though. The only reason to say 'GG EZ' is to rub salt in the wounds of someone who's probably had a really tough game. There is no positive or neutral intent there, because otherwise you would have said something positive or neutral, or said nothing at all.

The only intent is to belittle someone and make them feel worse about the loss. It's understandable why someone might need to dump a bit of salt when they lose, but 'bad winner' is really just another name for 'bully'.

As to your friends...yeah, I frankly don't believe it. I can't prove it's rubbish, and I doubt that you're going to be able to prove to my satisfaction that it isn't.

However - I've been a gamer since PvP was something you did at arcades because dial-up wasn't even a thing yet. I'm now still a gamer, and in my 40s.

I've never once seen a genuine friendship bloom over someone being nasty to a stranger, either in real life or online. I've seen plenty of banter, but amongst people who are already friends. The only relationships I've seen form out of interactions like this are either delusional (see: mild to moderate forms of Stockholm syndrome) or sycophantic.

But okay, let's accept that your...pretty outlandish story is true, for the sake of the argument. Keep in mind I'm speaking generally here, I don't know you or your situation.

This creates two possibilities, looking at this from a basic psychosociological perspective.

    • Unpleasant people tend to cluster together. This is why the schoolyard bully usually has a posse of followers and me-tooists. These all tend to be, when you get under the crust, deeply unhappy, deeply discontented individuals - and they project this outwards, often without even realizing it.
    • People attempt to 'suck up' to the schoolyard bully, in the hopes they're left alone - or, on some occasions, because they want to be the schoolyard bully, and this is the closest they are going to get.

I'm not your therapist, but maybe give it some thought, in addition to why you need to make other people unhappy in order to gain enjoyment from gaming. Because it's not healthy for you, or other people.

The only reason someone derives joy from the suffering of others is - again - personal issues, generally discontent/helplessness in their own lives, and this can quite often be amazingly deeply repressed. Well, okay, and neurological issues, but that's a different topic entirely.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3141770#Comment_3141770

They've been bandying around a 'good sportsmanship' incentive for a while now, and I think they'll go that way.

Because I know for a fact that when I attempt to get people to try, the two things that put them off are:

    • The initial grind and investment.
    • The notoriously awful community.

I promise you, the intent is not to harm.*

Yes, there are people who say "gg ez" with malicious intent, because the act of putting someone else down is self-soothing.

But there are also people who say "gg ez" because the game left much to be desired. Like a person going back for second helpings, the act of taunting and jeering often elicits a stimulating response that satisfies those who felt the game was unsatisfactory.

For the latter group, offending people is collateral damage, not the objective itself. There is an acknowledgement that certain words and phrases (such as 'gg ez') are inherently harmless, but are capable of triggering reactions. The intent is to provoke like-minded individuals who get a kick out of this sort of banter, and have the conversation escalate from there. People who engage in this sort of behavior assume that those who can't tolerate it will ignore them or remove themself from the situation.

In this particular example, OP should immediately recognize that his opponents are not interested in engaging in meaningful conversation. Instead, OP chooses to entertain his opponents, in-turn signaling to them that their behavior is tolerable/welcomed.

If I was one of the survivors in this situation, and OP said "hey, no need to pour salt on the wound," my immediate response would be something to the effect of "you're right, i'm sorry. have a good day, gl next," or even extend the olive branch and try to learn a bit about them. Because, as I've tried to convey thus far, I'm not looking to put people down, I'm just looking to engage with other people that find this sort of behavior entertaining.

Whether or not the intent is to harm, I concede that the behavior is entirely self-serving.

*I don’t know the survivor in question’s intentions, so I’m speaking generically here to the point I was originally making.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3141585#Comment_3141585

    Here's the thing though.

You know that you're making other people miserable. Otherwise - you wouldn't do it, you'd say something funny or outrageous instead, if all you were after is amusing reactions.

    This isn't attention seeking.

It's...sadism. Bullying. Extracting enjoyment from upsetting people from a position where they have no way to strike back.

That line is subjective. What matters is more the intent - you're taking a chance to kick someone while they are down, and try to take them from feeling defeated to feeling useless. I don't see why you think this is something worth defending as a moral good.

And yes, it's 'entertainment' for those people, but there are lots of things online that people do for 'entertainment', and that doesn't mean that they are universally acceptable.

Believe it or not, I do understand - the psychology of bullying is something I'm quite familiar with.

There's also a difference between trash talking and being obnoxious. Trash talk is generally mutual, between two opponents who know each other, and occurs before the match.

What you are describing is more like slapping someone's hand away at the end of a hard fought match when everyone else is shaking hands. I'm not sure it should be bannable (I certainly wouldn't be sad if it was though) - I'm more in favor of a system to award good sportsmanship, because your community is, after a certain point, what determines whether your game is niche, or popular. And most people don't want to have to deal with the butts.

It's one of the reasons why FF is flattening WoW these days, and why Blizzard are now going too far in the other direction - which tends to be what happens. Minor toxicity becomes major toxicity, people leave, then - rather than a few tweaks, the developers go for the nuclear option.

You know that you're making other people miserable. Otherwise - you wouldn't do it...

    You completely misunderstand me.

You might just have to accept that this is a character trait you'll never understand, because I don't think you're going to believe what I'm about to say next...

I have multiple gaming friends whom I've known for 5+ years now, whose first interaction with myself or another one of my friends was trash talking--saying things significantly worse than what OP captured in his screenshots. Whether it was during a game or after, both parties hurled insults at eachother, one thing lead to another, and then next thing you know they're in our Discord becoming great friends with everyone. Fast forward several years, and these same guys are meeting up IRL for ski trips, bar crawls, etc.

Not everyone is going to respond to this kind of banter the same way, and that is fine--different people draw the line at different places. But why should I have to draw the line at 'gg ez' because you refuse to accept that there wasn't an intent to harm?

  • I like pinhead--both playing as and against him.

What I can't stand are his most popular builds.

It feels like a chore playing against Pinheads that play around box-spawn and emphasize stall tactics over chase.

  • Been thinking about going on hiatus as well.

I last played 2 days ago and all the games were really fun--not sure if I should end on the high or wait for something to push me out 🤔

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3140352#Comment_3140352

There's banter, and then there's being a gigantic bully and kicking people when they are down.

You don't need to have the gold standard.

Just...some standards would be nice. I don't know why people like yourself support making other people miserable unnecessarily online - to me, that speaks to severe personal issues that you'll have to deal with sooner or later. Because this stuff always escalates.

Franky, if this sort of player quits - good damn riddance.

It isn't 2008 anymore. People get turned off by terrible communities. Hell, I remember League of Legends before and after Tribunal, and it was...oh, just so much better.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3140500#Comment_3140500

Yeah, they absolutely do get banned for it. League's automated tribunal is even more fussy than the player driven version. It just escalates, so you get a warning, then 1-3-7-14-perma.

It is a common misconception that people like myself behave this way to make others miserable.

It is sensationalist behavior--seeking nothing more than a reaction.

Don't think I speak on behalf of those who make personal and intolerant comments.

While I might see little wrong with the behavior OP shared, I do recognize a line that can't be crossed.

Some people do come from a place of ignorance and hatred when they make comments in-game, but it is unfair to put us all in one box.

I don't expect you to understand. I just want to make you aware that this behavior is a form of entertainment for some people.

Trash-talking predates modern history, so it's not like this is a new phenomenon. I expect those who can't tolerate a simple 'gg ez' to acknowledge their limit and mute chat--it's a tough pill to swallow, but we can't ask society to walk on eggshells because of our own short-comings.

OP had multiple opportunities to leave the conversation, and instead stuck around the poke the bear. It's hard to garner sympathy when the whole situation is completely avoidable.

  • Believe it or not, there are a large number of players who would leave the game if they did not have the ability to talk smack in the post-game lobby--myself being one of them.

Call it childish, call it immature, call it whatever you want. It is therapeutic to many people, and it is a dopamine kick that gets players motivated to queue for another round, even if that last game was absolutely brutal.

I don't see anything in your image that has been deemed socially unacceptable within the gaming community. So unless you expect BHVR to set the gold standard for online behavior in gaming, your issue is with online banter as a whole.

If you rather support a company that is trailblazing low tolerance of this particular behavior, I unironically recommend playing League of Legends. While it has an awful rep for being insanely toxic, it is pretty clear to me that Riot takes themself very seriously in this regard, and they are making strides to reverse the stigma that has been associated with their game.

    Oh, also...

I wonder if Sadako is going to see some more love from killers next patch, as she has been in the content creator spotlight lately and her condemnation build requires slugging survivors near TVs.

  • I like the idea of a counter to Hemorrage, but I also think people should start running Streetwise with Botany if the recent change has been an issue.

BHVR has been pushing for specilization in survivors--requiring all 4 perks to be dedicated to a build for real value.

If people want rediculous healing, they now need to dedicate a build to it, instead of just sacrificing one perk.

If the killer is not camping or proxy camping the hook then the 5 secs is enough to get away, 9/10 saves i see when i play killer is just bad choices from other survivors they unhook the hooked survivor before i even turn around, if in a chase they run to get the save leading me right back to you and sometimes you can see them hanging around so soon as i take 10 steps they rush in for the save.

Survivors cant keep blaming killers when your fellow survivors are just doing unsafe hooks, yes it might suck if the killer goes after you but the other survivor is the one that caused that to happen, when instead they could of waited 20sc for the killer to leave then go for the unhook making it a safe one then going somewhere to heal, so next time you get unhooked and the killer goes after you think if its the killer or another survivor that did a unsafe hook with the killer right there.

9/10 unsafe unhooks I see are because the killer proxy camped the hook and refused to do anything but zone survivors trying to go for unhook.

"most balanced" must be totally relative then lol. Suffocation Pit and Groaning Storehouse IMO are obscenely survivor sided, Ironworks is busted with boons. Coal Tower is small but it has a strong building with tons of strong loops connected to each other. Shelter Woods is mostly killer sided but it's huge

hey, i'm just quoting the mouthpieces of DBD

Agreed. I see MacMillan offerings far too much, that I've started to lament going there.

I don't care if it is "the most balanced realm," I just want some map diversity

  • I've used DH more in the past month than I had in my first 2.5k hours of DBD.

At first, I wasn't thrilled with it--I was always ending up on the floor even when I was certain I pressed E before the killer hit me.

I've since learned the timing, and it is arguably a stronger perk than it was before.

If more people invest time in learning how to use new DH reliably, I expect we'll see a resurgence of complaints about the perk.

  • I've been running Deliverance, OTR, DS & DH, because selfish survivors and tunneling killers have been ruining my DBD experience.

But i'll start running Breakdown and Sabo in honor of this post.

Edit: Killer didn't run any Scourge Hooks, and I was camped then tunneled off second hook. Feel nothing but regret.

  • I advise you to run Distortion to either...

    • Discover that its not as big an issue as you're making it out to be
    • Know when to push groups of survivors off of generators
  • I don't know how many time this needs to be said, but the complaints about "tunneling and camping are boring" are directed at BHVR more than other players.

Sure, people will plead with others to change their habits and ask them to be more considerate about those they are gaming with, but primarly... people want BHVR to know that this type of behavior is lame af and the fact that it still exists with any amount of prevalence reflects horribly on the devs

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3138768#Comment_3138768

I only have one question about Wake Up, though, I think it only activates when the Generators are completed. But if the Generators aren't finished, and the killer closes the hatch, I don't think Wake Up will activate will it? (It's similar to how Rancor doesn't activate when the killer closes the hatch.) So it would only help in the scenario when the last other survivor happens to die after all the generators are finished but before the doors are already open.

Wake Up will activate if the killer closes hatch!

  • @dugman said:

So this thread got me thinking, what would be a fun "Last Survivor Standing" loadout? 🙂

    I'm thinking something like this:

    • Left Behind - You can see the aura of the hatch within 32 meters when you're the last survivor.
    • Low Profile - Suppresses your Scratches and Blood Pools when you are the last survivor for 90 seconds
    • Sole Survivor - Hides your aura up to 72 meters based on how many other survivors have already died. When you are the last survivor you also repair gens 75% faster and open gates 50% faster. (You are also probably the killer's Obsession)
    • (optional)
      • Off the Record - Hides auras and suppresses sounds after unhook for 80 seconds, also Endurance until you do a Conspicuous action.
      • Iron Will - Reduces sounds while Injured and not Exhausted
      • Unbreakable - Recover from dying once per trial and recover faster while dying
      • Tenacity - Crawl faster while dying with 75% reduce Grunts of Pain

The first three perks are kind of obvious, the fourth slot is more flexible. I'm thinking if you're the last survivor left then one of the optional perks I listed might be an ok choice to compliment the other three. Basically that fourth slot either makes you harder to hear, lets you stand up if the killer tries to slug you while they hook someone else, or if they slug you while they look for someone else lets you crawl quickly toward the hatch to slink out. (I also considered Distortion but Sole Survivor already hides your aura within a very wide area by the time you're the last one alive so it felt like too much duplication.)

you want Wake Up as your 4th perk, and a key in your hand.

voila! now you can escape every trial without touching a single generator.

just what solo queue needs /s

That's actually impressive the Plague managed to infect multiple survivors in less than 30 seconds into the game.

Some players prefer to cleanse and force her into her power instead of letting her choose when to use it. Some people don't like playing sick/injured. Some want the BP from cleansing. Some players just don't care. Unfortunately if you're not playing in a 4SWF you have to deal with the randoms not choosing same playstyle as you. It's what makes solo or even duos so frustrating - the randoms that aren't on same page as you.

Dead Dawg Saloon with Lethal Pursuer. She beelined it right over to 3 of us, infected Jill & Leon then committed to a chase on Haddie.

I unhooked Haddie, and Plag came straight back with Corrupt Purge. Game was over then and there.

cleansing is not bad, sorry but if everyone cleanses then they rob her of a multitude of fountains and shift the pressure, plague with her ability is not nearly as bad on average as most would think. when i play with friends i make sure they cleanse and then when i cleanse i get sick on purpose with saves and other activities. for whatever reason most plagues just wait until everyone is sick to use their ability, but because they dont save their fountains they literally lose their fountains and gain their power for a short time. so cleansing isnt bad, if you can coordinate.

Comparing strats for SWF vs Solo Queue is like Apples to Oranges.

Its lack of competitive scene holds it back from garnering a larger audience, but DBD has definitely cemented its name as the quintessential asymm horror franchise.

To be fair, yeah. There are some absolutely evil SWFs out there that aren't so much out to win, as to make killers hate the game. These experiences do stay with you.

The Nurse was a bit obnoxious, but the fault here lies with the ragequitters, not the killer.

In this scenario, yes I 100% agree with you; game was ruined by my teammates.

...but there is really no reason for the Nurse to pour salt on the wound. Her actions were pretty par-for-the-course for Nurses I encounter, which is why I called her out.

I put good timing in quotations because I don't believe that is at all skillful. Like I said, I was able to use it just fine while being a horrible survivor player. The timing is forgiving, especially against chase killers, and invalidates THEIR skill significantly as there's nothing they can do to outplay you. With old Dead Hard you were barely given any distance, but now you get nearly an entire sprint burst to get to another loop or hide.

You want to know what REALLY isn't skillfull? Waiting out Dead Hard.

    You should try it.

There is no way to make camping and tunneling "Not viable strategies" baseline without fundamentally changing every single aspect of the game, unless you want to break it in half.

So says a person afraid of change.

I've seen it suggested that survivors should share hook states, and the killer cannot sacrifice a survivor until they have reached X number of hook states. This would put killers like Onryo and Myers in a unique position where they can bypass the hook counter to kill survivors, and open the door to new killer and/or add-on designs that are centered around pre-mature moris.

One can only speculate what this would mean for the health of the game (i.e. would it really fix tunneling?), but it definitely doesn't break the game--some killers already play with 12 hooks as their win condition.

This is just one suggestion. It of course has a few kinks to work out, but it suggests that something can be done without breaking the game.

  • I think everyone's rule of thumb should be:

    • ask once if you're trying to be helpful
    • ask twice if you have a build or challenge dedicated to it
    • don't ask a third time

I just watched three idiots with kindred active. Two working on a generator and a third was obviously in a chase based on movement. It's too bad we can't post their names because people this stupid should be avoided.

Expectation: I'm going to run kindred so my teammates know when to come unhook me. I'm never going to die on first hook, this is going to be a great game of DBD!

Reality: "Kate, you see that? Ace is looping the killer in the other corner over there. If he doesn't run our way, we might be able to finish this gen AND one more before going for unhook. ...wait, why did they kill themself during second stage?"

Exactly why I don't run Kindred.

  • @AliceNull said:

I don't understand why people are phrasing this as a 'band-aid fix' when the solution taking up a part of a survivors power budget is not only reasonable, but the only healthy way to implement any kind of meaningful changes to camping without severe abuse potential or needing additional buffs to killers to compensate.

It being a perk isn't some kind of lame half-measure, it being a perk is literally the POINT. Otherwise, the hook timer becomes ostensibly meaningless, and basic hook pressure loses most of its power (Not facecamping from full, but following scratchmarks or hooking someone in a solid position like a hill or 3 gen) because survivors would be able to run all of their normal perks !and! not have to fully commit to unhooks without risk of a hook-state loss.

I love Reassurance, and while it might need some very small tweaks to prevent weird SWF hostage taking, I think it should hit live otherwise mostly untouched. Its already very strong as a one or two of pick out of 4, taking up a perk slot. It would be far too strong as a basekit option for all 4.

This isn't a 'healthy way to implement any kind of meaningful change.'

Healthy would be redesigning the core mechanics that make camping & tunneling viable strategies in the first place.

First and foremost, DBD is a game that people play for their own entertainment.

It should be the goal of the developer to make the game entertaining for as long, and for as many people, as possible.

The game's entertainment currently hinges too much on goodwill, of which there is simply not enough to go around in the gaming community.

True, but did you watch the footage? Yet, what’s up with the BM from the Nurse player? Unless something else happened during that match the OP neglected to tell us it seems a bit uncalled for.

    Post-Game Chat Logs

Me: Why did you BM me?

Nurse: I didn't BM you. I was BMing your teammates

    Me: How? They all left

Nurse: I thought you were SWF and they d/c'd for you to get hatch

I talked to the Nurse for like 3 minutes after this match. The vibe I got was this person has a lot of bottled anger, and they assume the worst of survivors in every match. In their eyes, they earned the right to gloat because they prevented 4 sleazy survivors from creating their own win condition.

  • People will argue that it is bannable, but I really can't see how BHVR can justify banning anyone for this occurence.

It sucks, and it is frustrating, but if the survivors deem that it is tactically advantageous for them to wait out the infection, then they're completely within their right to explore that tactic.

  • Any time I manage to procc Bloodwarden, it runs out a second before I can pick up the survivor in the exit gate.

  • What if I told you that Prove Thyself did the exact same thing it does now, when gens took 10 less seconds than they do now, and no one bat an eye?

  • Admittedly, I fail to see the problem here.

Can you please explain WHY this is a balance issue?

  • The 8 most recent posts all say 1 view, with multiple comments lol

  • I've been trying to raise awareness about this for like 2 years now. The game does not promote teamwork.

  • I'm never slugged, because I always bring my chases as far as possible from my teammates.

I wanted to like the Power Struggle, Flip-Flop, Tenacity, Unbreakable build, but it just isn't viable for me.

  • Actually, you are.

Jumping in a locker in front of the killer is quite literally letting him kill you.

You've just stubbornly decided to choose how you are going to die.

If you actually wanted to make the killer "work for it," you'd loop him until you've exhausted every resource on the map and he catches you with Bloodlust T3.

  • Oh yeah, because it took you so much effort to jump in that locker, right?

  • OP, if you play Overwatch you may be mistaking it with DBD.

In comp Overwatch, if a player leaves in the first 30 seconds of the match the game will end and boot everyone back to lobby without any penalties. Given how difficult it is to win a 5v6 in Overwatch, this mechanic is an absolute blessing, and no doubt has saved many a heartache from problems completely out of their control.

They just do it to look good. Just like some streamers as survivors look back and forth with their camera constantly and rapidly to make it look like they are good when that isn't really needed and isn't giving them any extra info

    ummm... what?

    You mean this?

    Watch "Example A" on Streamable.

    Or this?

    Watch "Example B" on Streamable.

...cause I'll tell you right now I don't stream and I don't post my clips on youtube. I look back and forth at the killer to make sure I have the distance I need to safely reach a window or pallet. If people find this impressive or cool, i'm done--this is just how you play the game.

  • Why is OP getting so much heat for this lmfao

I've always thought the game's balance was undisputably survivor-sided, but I'd be lying if I didn't think killer was incredibly easy as well.

The reality is that the average survivor is so bad that the developers have needed to hand survivors an excessive amount of gameplay advantages. But decent killers can still stomp the average survivor; for a thousand god pallets does not a good survivor make.

What you're talking about isn't done solely to give the other team mercy. It's to give the 'weaker' players some experience, so as to not pay them to do nothing, and to build them up for when one of the good players gets injured or something and they need to sub out. In a way, it's almost anti-sportsmanlike, because you're basically saying, "We could easily beat you as is, but because we're in such a lead, we're gonna let our benchwarmers loose and see if they can't hand you a point or 2." That's what you see in FIFA online when the opponent puts their goalie upfront, basically showboating.

You're allowing the other team to play still, but you're giving them false hope as well. They probably see that you're letting up and may have a shot at making a comeback, but even if that did happen, it would be because you screwed up by throwing away your advantage, not because they just played that well. You see this in DBD when survivors have a huge gen lead and use it to waste time body blocking and spamming second chance perks for style. It's not to let the other team win as much as it is to showboat and then escape back to guaranteed victory.

The comparison you're making just isn't there. What smart survivor team just stops doing gens to give the killer a chance? No, they do it to be altruistic and show off because they've basically already won and they know it. You see killer do it so little because they almost never have that kind of advantage outside of playing a top 2 killer. It's not because they're bad sports; they want to win and win decisively after losing so many times to factors that are outside their control. Notice that teams who lost in real sports year after year usually want to keep their top spot instead of returning to being losers.

Your suggestion is so idealistic, as opposed to practical, that it could only ever exist in casual play, which is the part of a game's playerbase that needs to show sportsmanship the least. When you lose in this game you lose hard and repeatedly, and that's not fun, so why would I waste my time being what you would call sportsmanlike when I have nowhere near the advantage to do so? Even if I did have that advantage, survivor has so much comeback potential that letting up for even a second could cement a loss for me, which I don't feel like experiencing for no good reason. That's reality.

Here is a candle for your optimism—may it forever rest in peace.

I don’t know any other way to say this but uhhh… no. You’re wrong.

Somebody saw you were thirsty and handed you a glass half full of water.

The fact that you look a gift horse in the mouth and say, “I don’t want that, it’s half empty,” is your problem.

The person who handed that glass to you has made a kind gesture, regardless of whether you choose to see that or not.

Maybe nothing will please you. But kindness, compassion, and just generally treating other people like human beings… that sorta stuff will please most people. I don’t know how you could possibly argue that we don’t need more of that in our lives.

DBD is not a competitive game. People can and will play to win, but at the end of the day we’re all humans coming together to have a good time.
