Sally (The Nurse) had a husband.

    Felix has a wife!

    Confirmed not gay!

And there's more than that I don't remember off the top of my head.

How does that confirm anything? I thought everything is up in the air until its confirmed by the devs.

  • What am I not acknowledging again? Sorry I'm trying to keep up.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2936991#Comment_2936991

You are really trying to tell me that Nurse might be lesbian or asexual/aromantical?

and David can still be anything as well, sexual orientation is never set in stone m, he might change and realize he is bi/pan or maybe being gay actually was a phase for him.

Yes. If the rest of the roster is ambiguous still, isn't it possible? I guess you can say it may be less likely for some but so far we only have 1 confirmed sexuality. It really only matters to the individual consumer at the end of the day.

*excluding those character that have been revealed to have meaningful heterosexual relationships, but those you don’t wanna acknowledge…

You don't know what they are! They could be gay too.

I mean, you've expressed a clear double standard when it comes to whether a character is revealed as gay, or straight. If that's not homophobia I don't know what is.

Maybe a little introspection is needed here. We all need to learn when we're wrong.

Sorry you feel that way about me. I just personally think things like sexuality of fictional characters is best left to the consumer. I know the world I live in. I know this world is insanely diverse and that no 2 people think or see things exactly the same. David King is now in a different light for a lot of people. I know he is also in a better light for some people too. The thing is it has caused both negative and positive discourse between the community when this would have never happened had David King, as well as the rest of the roster, remained ambiguous.

    Why not?

Should I not be able to identify with any straight character or protagonists in media? Or should I just be able to because that's "normal"? I'm happy whenever I see a gay couple in something, but the lack of them doesn't make me go "ew I can't with these straights, blegh".

This is why I didn't think making a new character just to be gay would be the better choice, because of reductive homophobes like you that think being gay is the whole of a persons character and overrides all else.

I think I've been labeled a racist, homophobe and reductive homophobe in the span of about a day just voicing my opinion about David's sexuality. 🤣 I wonder if I'll get a 4th label by the end of today.

You can identify with whatever you want. I'm not you. I don't think like you. I don't reason like you and I don't label people like you. You and I are very much different so it comes as no surprise who I choose to identify with in fiction will be very different from who you do.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2936073#Comment_2936073

Just slapping it on a new character would actually be way more lazy than creating a fitting story like they did for David. Also they would get criticized for tokenism and doing it for the money and the surv would be said to have their personality completely revolving around their sexuality no matter what else was mentioned in their background story.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2936048#Comment_2936048

You still can identify with him. You choose not to because you are focusing on his sexuality while there were always traits and stuff in his lore that made him a distinct character from you. Or have you been abandoned by your rich family, are as muscular as him and you often get drunk in bars and get into fights?

also the very first DLC was already not in line with their original position.

Maybe you're right. Honestly, I think most people who play DBD will probably never know about his sexuality anyway. Heck if I had never saw the twitter post about it I wouldn't either. I'd still be playing shirtless David saving all the ladies and leaving Dwight on the hook. Now that I think about it, that actually sounds more fun to do now than ever. 😂

You understand giving survivors buffed versions of two of your strongest perks in the game is insane, right? You listen to yourself when you have these thoughts?

One would discourage the killer from leaving you on the ground for too long and the other would discourage the killer from tunneling you out of the match. I don't see the problem here.

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

They're going to announce a base BT and the survivor communication icons. Probably nothing for killer.

Unbreakable (without a 1 time limit on full recover) and BT should be base for all survivors to deal with slugging and tunneling issues.

  • Bring back the previous hatch and perma sabotaged hooks again. Oh I'd also like more color options for cosmetics.

That was the initial idea, which has changed through the years, to the point that two years ago they announced this:

    https://twitter.com/deadbybhvr/status/1271526607828779009

So yes, they changed their mind, but not with David's reveal.

They had it right with their original position. Letting the players create their own narratives and identify with the characters they most relate to is always the best approach. I can never identify with David King again. :(

Even still, I'd much rather everything be left up to the consumer so everyone is happy.

except for those that have another opinion than your own and actually like the story telling in DbD…

Whats wrong with having a neutral stance on something? You're wanting me to accept the sexuality of David and whatever else they throw at the characters in the future and I simply want it to be left up to the consumer so everyone can be happy. You have an opinion but you're also wanting me to conform to it. Not gonna happen.

Weren't you the one who said you didn't care about lore?

So why does it all of a sudden matter whether a character's sexuality is canon or not? Wouldn't you just not even read the lore and just play the game?

Ignorance is bliss. I would've preferred to not have heard about this. I do like lore but I just haven't seen DBD to be a game to really emphasize the importance of it so knowing specific details about characters hasn't really been that appealing to me. It doesn't mean I won't give my opinion about it when things are made known to me. Even still, I'd much rather everything be left up to the consumer so everyone is happy.

I am thankful that I am secure with my own sexuality (gay) that I don't need to know who is gay and who is not before purchasing a character.

You claim labeling you a "homophobe" is how think other people see you, when in fact you are the one who is making yourself look that way, with comments such as:

    https://i.gyazo.com/6c87a99337cc05928de625514ca0d841.png

How is me not wanting my favorite DBD characters to not have a canon sexuality implying I am a homophobe? 🤣

  • @icedrake402 said:

If you don't want people to think that, maybe stop saying "I'm not a homophobe BUUUUUTTTTTT--", over and over? I mean, you're pretty going out of your way to hit every Status Quo Warrior talking point here.

I get it, you probably don't think as yourself as being homophobic (because that would make you a Bad Person, and you don't think of yourself as a Bad Person), but this is exactly what homophobes do. Every time there's a new bit of representation in anything, no matter how innocuous or inconsequential, there's the same old bingo card being whipped out.

"Political" (as if preserving the status quo is any less political)

    "Virtue Signalling" (meaningless, thoughtless buzzword)

    "Woke" (another content-free buzzword)

"Nobody Cares" (while endlessly posting to show exactly how little you care)

"Too Much Representation" (a clear sign the speaker has no experience of how it feels to NOT be represented, and told over and over that People Like You never get to be cool or heroic)

"Where Will It End?" (I dunno, with a cast of characters that look like how people actually are?)

Think like me or else much?

  • @icedrake402 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2935683#Comment_2935683

Thing is, it's not "controversial". Gay people exist, even people who don't fit old stereotypes of "gay" or whom onlookers assumed were straight. Can you explain in detail what on earth about that is "controversial"?

(And continue to take cracks at others for "virtue signalling" while making everyone knows exactly how free of hate and bigotry you are.)

    Diverse world is diverse.

    LOL

You do realize that even if they were to follow your absurd dispute to "know" the sexuality of a character before purchase, they (BHVR) by law reserves the right to change whatever they feel like including but not limited to the lore of a character?

Perhaps go make your own game where you can feature your own interpretation of characters and the way YOU want them to be interpreted by your own consumers.

Also, on people calling you a homophobe, here is what I have to say. If it quacks and walks like a duck, it's a duck.

I'm just thankful I'm not filled with this much hatred when I reply to people on controversial topics like this. No one has directly called me a homophobe yet... I think. I have said I just feel like that is how some people see me here. I'd love to make my own game like that by the way but I fear I would be endlessly attacked by people like you for lack of representation.

That’s a dumb argument. Why does a character being a specific sexuality affect your choice of preference? You know you say you’re not a homophobe but this is exactly the type of mindset homophobes have.

I'm not a homophobe. Everyone is different. People have religious and cultural convictions. A Christian may not want to play a gay character for example. How do you think they would feel finding out years later that their favorite character is gay? Or does it not matter because Christians are intrinsically evil? Not everyone thinks like you and neither should they. Everyone shouldn't have to think or feel a certain way about this. This is why I will continue to say leaving certain aspects of characters neutral is the best approach in my opinion.

Eh. We already know that the devs of DbD are not only doing it for representation either. They have stated they see themselves as an inclusive company/team and they are standing behind it.

and virtue signaling -even though that argument is just a buzz word and doesn’t stand for anything- still requires a market that is for this.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2935600#Comment_2935600

It seems more like you want people to call you a homophobe at this point to prove some point. All while you are labeling the devs/creators of DbDs characters which is totally fine.

I don't want people to call me a homophobe. I just think that is how some people feel about me here. If I could choose a label for myself though it would be "Queen of Dissenting Opinions."

I don't think I've really labeled the dbd devs anything. I disagree with their approach on a lot of things sure but I try to lean away from the whole labeling thing. I would rather they leave certain aspects of the characters up to the consumer. I think that is the best approach and everyone wins in that situation.

Oh wow. So you're kind of a piece of #########, huh?

Sure why not I guess? I mean I think I'm pretty much considered a homophobe by a few people here by now so you can go ahead and throw another label on me. Its fine. You won't see me doing that to you or anyone else here though. Hatred isn't my thing.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2935581#Comment_2935581

Yeah and the current market is asking for LGBTQ+ representation.

also that wasn’t a complain. Just a fact. Super Mario World is still one of my favourite games ever and I don’t let the sexuality of a character determine how much I like a game.

so grats to you on your problems with DbDs representation.

Is it? What market are you looking at? I see a lot of people doing it for virtue signal points but I don't think its the majority norm in the world yet. Also I don't think when Peach kissed Mario they had him do it for representation.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2935570#Comment_2935570

Peach kissing Mario who then turns red wasn’t shoved into my face and there is no way of completing the game without seeing it? But a twitter post is shoving something in your face while you don’t even need to be on twitter to play the game?

can you elaborate on this please?

You're the first person I've ever seen complain about that. Grats? Again, markets and majority.

  • The point was the customers and fans of these characters deserve to know before spending more money on them.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2935531#Comment_2935531

And where would be a problem with that? You are also waiting and wondering if your survivors play a specific instrument or not, engaged in some specific sports, had specific jobs (in some cases we don’t know, in some we do).

that was always part of DbDs story telling.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2935536#Comment_2935536

Nothing about the gameplay changed. Heterosexual relationships and straight characters were shoved in everyones faces in videogames since the early days of their existence. And you did say nothing about that.

Nothing was ever shoved in your face. There was nothing to be said. Markets always gravitate towards the majority. If the LGBT community was a majority in those times you would've seen a lot more of it in video games.

  • @bluedusef said:

i got LGBTQ+ rep in DbD. I am fairly happy with the current situation :)

Nice to know you're happy about your representation in DBD while the rest of us have to sit and wait wondering if the survivors we play are going to suddenly be trans.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2934613#Comment_2934613

But you already explicitly stated that you think David shouldn’t have been ‚randomly chosen‘ to be gay. You are starting to contradict yourself.

so it’s literally only the twitter announcement and website blog which you have a problem with? Because if so… then maybe state so from the beginning. That’s completely understandable and is also only been done because of previous official statements by the devs

No you're wanting me to contradict myself because you think it'll prove some kinda point. I've already stated how I feel about this and I'm pretty much done with it now unless you keep replying to me about it. Yes I do think it was weird he was randomly chosen to be gay. I also think they should leave it up to the players to decide what they want each character to be. It is their characters though so they can do what they want with them. I just think it would be a lot less controversial if they just did it without making such a big deal about it. But overall my stance is why bother doing it to begin with? Let everyone be happy with their imaginations of fictional characters they love.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2934595#Comment_2934595

So it would have been okay to tell a story about David starting to date men after he only dated women to please his parents? Though they never use the word gay.

because.. that’s in line with how heterosexual relationships were part of the lore since Nurse was added and pretty much no one complained.

Take out the whole representation narrative and they can make the entire roster gay for all I care.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2934573#Comment_2934573

They probably didn’t write ‚straight‘ either, so that argument doesn’t help in any way. A lot of people would see a new character being gay as pandering and tokenism and there would be more basis for that argumentation than it is for David.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2934568#Comment_2934568

They have revealed it WITH the release of the tome where it is an integral part of the story, you realize this, yeah? They didn’t just go ‚oh by the way David is gay lol‘ like Rowling did with Dumbledore. They have written and revealed the story - and this is their actual normal kind of story telling! There have been 10 tomes already and I’m each of them at least for 2 existing characters they have revealed story’s which added and expanded upon the backstory.

asking to reveal any characters sexuality would feel forced and doesn’t have any relevance to their normal take on story telling. For some characters it may be revealed later on, for some it will only be indirect through mentioned relationships and for some sexuality may never be written about at all. That has been the approach kn DbD since the beginning.

and just to be clear: stating you would want everyone left open and therefore you didn’t like David’s reveal is completely understandable and valid criticism (though with multiple heterosexual relationships there could have still be a homosexual relationship mentioned without outright saying he is gay - would you have had a problem with that for David?)

also something worth noting: have you ever heard of someone that is heterosexual that they officially revealed it about themselves? Be it for family, friends, at work, in public? It’s something that straight people usually don’t do so it would feel very forced if suddenly someone came out as straight. While for gay people (or LGBTQ+ people) it’s sadly quite the norm that it is almost expected for them to come out. Otherwise people will just assume they are straight..

I don't think they should reveal their sexuality at all. And you're right! They probably didn't right straight either on his concept art and you know what? That is perfect! It should've stayed that way.

  • @NVerde said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2932867#Comment_2932867

Hmm, so because YOU don't feel it's necessary and don't want it, it shouldn't happen? Jeez, do you have any idea just how selfish and entitled you sound? Grow up, seriously.

No I just don't want video games to turn into representation simulators. Besides, it doesn't matter what I personally want. You on the other hand seem to have a problem with dissenting opinions about a fictional video game character and you're telling me to grow up. 🤣

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2934500#Comment_2934500

Criticism that is constructive and has a basis other than ‚I Don’t like it‘ or ‚my head canon contradicts this‘ is completely valid and necessary.

    but…

I can promise you I am not the only one who if asked if they think David King is gay before this happened would undoubtedly say no. There just was nothing there over the years to imply this about him.

this! This kind of thinking is one of the reasons representation outside of stereotypes matters so much! You can say you don’t like it all you want and I don’t care, but if your reasoning is you couldn’t tell David was gay before than you are showing that they definitely did the right thing and your criticism has no basis.

If I had to take a wild guess or give my opinion on David King I would say I highly doubt "possibly gay" or "gay" was one of the things written on the concept art paper when he was being designed. You know no one would be complaining about this or criticizing it had they made him gay from the start or even early on in DBD. A lot of people see this as pandering or tokenism.

  • @NVerde said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2932983#Comment_2932983

So you want to assume all the other characters are straight, but you also don't think representation or mentioning sexuality of characters in a video game is necessary. Which is it? You contradict yourself. What a mess.

Its not necessary to mention they are straight either. My stance is leave it up to the consumer to decide what they want each character to be. If someone wants to believe the entire roster is gay, so what? Let them. Also when I said I will assume the rest are straight that was me wondering why they haven't come out and said it yet especially for the older characters. Why wait? Why not come out and tell us what the sexuality of a few other survivors are now? Or are we supposed to be left in the dark about characters we know and love for a long time now? Why does this have to be about representation instead of just telling a story about a fictional character?

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2934400#Comment_2934400

    feels random

but it isnt. They made a deliberate choice and they needed almost two years to decide which is their first rep. They had consultants at their side. And we just don’t know if David has always been supposed to be gay or not.

It didn’t feel genuine […] they announced it

They announced it as a follow up to the announcement of them not further excluding LGBTQ+ topics and the announcement of collaborating with GaymerX. It wouldn’t feel genuine if they completely stayed silent after those announcements. You can say that it would have felt better if they waited until the whole story was available to the playerbase in-game and the timing of the announcement just makes it feel not genuine. But an announcement was already to be expected since June 2020.

don’t act like those arguments would determine if the representation was done well or not. Judge the story, judge the character. And there, surprisingly, everything fits well.

Reception matters too when things like this happen. Yea people are receiving it well and others aren't. When people say this feels random or it doesn't sit well with them they are being honest about that. When people from the very community you're trying to represent are not receiving this well that tells me theres a problem with it. It also tells me not everyone in that community thinks alike and criticism from them is a good thing. Everything does not fit well with this. I can promise you I am not the only one who if asked if they think David King is gay before this happened would undoubtedly say no. There just was nothing there over the years to imply this about him. There are reasons why this doesn't make sense to a lot of people. Be reasonable and try to understand how this does not fit well and does in fact feel very random.

  • @Sludge said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2933307#Comment_2933307

That's cool bruh, people can read and judge however they want, I even said I wouldn't care if they made a new character instead.

This "everyone who doesn't agree with me is a homophobe" isn't a healthy approach or productive, but if it makes you feel better have at it.

Just ignore people who throw the homophobe label at you because they don't like your dissenting opinion about something. They've already proven they're not interested in anything you have to say at that point. You're not a homophobe. People can like what they want and choose not to play anything for whatever reason. Its really no one's business.

  • @Youko said:

As an LGBTQ person, I don't know if this will ever sit quite right with me. But I only speak for myself, as an individual of this community, so these are my thoughts. Feel free to take them or leave them.

On the positive side, I appreciate the explanation and thought that was put into it. I think self-discovery after living a certain way makes for good character development. It's also great to consult about LGBTQ experiences.

On the negative side, if it wasn't your intentions for the character at the outset, I don't think it can ever be truly genuine. Having the equivalent of a "coming out announcement" also seems strange and placating. In my eyes, the best representation simply exists without pomp and circumstance.

On the REALLY negative side, David King is not the "first LGBTQIA2+ character" in the game and the fact that this is missed is actually kind of devastating. The "I" in the full acronym used in the announcement stands for "intersex." If you've read Koji Suzuki's Ring novel you would know that Sadako Yamamura is in-fact intersex, as revealed at the climax of the story when Kazuyuki Asakawa and Ryuji Takayama discover the origins of the curse with Sadako's death at the hands of Dr. Nagao (referenced in Part 3, Ch. 11). The film adaptations favored erasure of Sadako's intersex identity, an integral part of the novel's depiction of Sadako as a proxy for the AIDs pandemic, and themes of trans panic and homophobia (though the book is a product of its time/cultural climate and thus such elements were presented negatively in the context of the story).

This was really a missed opportunity to return to the source material of the Ring and present Sadako as the face LGBTQIA2+ inclusiveness being sought and helping to restore her image as the intersex character that she is.

Very well said. I've notice this is how a lot of people feel about it. It seems like every time something like this happens it must be presented as some bold thing that must be admired and respected as such. This felt completely random. It didn't feel genuine at all. Its like the opportunity to not just do it but announce you're doing it must be done so all eyes on you can see how much you care about what you did. If someone wants to make a gay video game character then make a gay video game character. Don't act like you did some great act of representation for doing so.

Peanits is a DbD developer. It says as much if you look at his profile page on the forum.

He says "you're not meant to reliably wiggle out." Then he goes on to say that wiggling out mostly happens when the killer gets greedy or other survivors help out: " It'll typically only happen if the killer gets greedy or poorly manages their hooks, or if the other survivors run breakout and/or take hits." If the survivor isn't meant to reliably wiggle off, then the only other option for what wiggling is reliably supposed to do is force the killer to use a nearby hook even when it's not an optimal hook.

As an aside, I dunno what's happening in your matches, but my friend lost one survivor off his shoulder due to Flip-Flop, and I've had multiple survivors wiggling off due to bad hook placement today (they weren't even running perks for it). In one of those matches, the last two people bled out, because after having one already get off my shoulder I wasn't too keen on taking the risk of trying to get them to a questionable hook. Survivors being able to wiggle off more easily is bad, because the killer's only counter is slugging. In other words, the killer's counter is to not do their objective of hooking survivors. There's no waiting it out, the situation only gets worse as the survivor crawls farther. I don't think there's any killer mechanic where the survivor's only counter is to not do their objective whatsoever.

I like to distract the killers as much as I can while my team works on gens. I'll do gens if I have to but after 2000+ hours of holding down M1 on gens I'm kind of over it. Now I like to try to find fun creative ways to play with the killer and keep them distracted as long as I can. Not much really seems to work out though but it is fun in the rare occasion where I kept the killer busy long enough for everyone to escape. The close hook spawns often ruin that fun as well as the perks feeling like they don't do enough.

  • Who is Peanits? Also I read that post and that didn't really confirm that the wiggle mechanic is only meant to prevent the killer from always basement hooking. They just said its the only thing that prevents it.

  • @MrMori said:

I'd be okay with this if hooks respawned 30 seconds after someone dies on them. It's outdated and just gets abused by survs who run to a corner with a broken hook to bleed out.

Especially frustrating on Midwich, where you can have really bad hook access made even worse by hooks being destroyed on death.

Or better yet 3 new hooks should spawn when 1 survivor dies on their hook. Lets also make the hooks perma highlighted so the killer always knows where they are. While were at it lets just delete the exit gates too. Killers can camp, tunnel, slug and hit us on the hook all game but its a crime against humanity if a survivor finds a way to prevent being hooked. Its almost like killers feel they are entitled to hooks no matter what. Me on the other hand, I just want hooks to spawn a little further apart and wiggle perks to be a little better. Not asking for much here.

The wiggling mechanic exists so the killer can’t take you to the basement on the complete opposite side of the map, and so that they can’t take a match hostage (since bleed out timer is paused while being carried). It is not meant to be an actual escape method in normal play ever. Wiggling related perks are intentionally weak because they would be literally gamebreakingly overpowered if they weren’t weak.

Is there an official statement on this or is it just your own opinion?

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

Wiggling out on your own is not supposed to be reliable even if you have a build dedicated to it.

But it is supposed to be more reliable than not having them at all. The perks are there for a reason. They offer faster wiggle progression for a reason. They are supposed to give you a better chance to wiggle off. So far I have not noticed any considerable difference in outcomes from having them than not having them. That is why I believe the perks that are used for this need to be buffed and the hooks need to be spread out more.

You are assuming everyone played them and loved what they loved. But that’s not true. You are asking for explicit exclusion of anything LGBTQ+ related while heterosexuality would still be featured everywhere. But (good) representation in any kind of media helps normalization in society. Otherwise people will continue to think LGBTQ+ people are abnormal and only behaving in stereotypes and will also continue to exclude them and oppress them.

there is no actual harm happening with inclusion either. You can still imagine that David King is straight and you can even explain it with the multiverse which is pretty much part of canon lore in DbD. But just the acknowledgment of gay people existing is helping others in realizing: gay people are as normal as straight people. They have different characteristics etc.

I'm not asking for exclusion of anything. I'm saying creators create what they want but don't wave a big "representation matters" flag over your work as the driving motivation for making the things you make and most certainly do not ever feel obligated to do it. If someone wants to make a game with gay characters in it then go for it. The customers can decide if they want to keep consuming that content. Lets treat straight and gay characters all the same without making a big deal about either one when we do. Thats normalization. If the goal is to sway the minds of everyone in the world to see both as normal then no amount of representation is ever going to change that. I honestly believe if people just stopped doing this for representation sake there would be far less arguing over it.

No. I think it is possible you are a homophobe because you are against LGBTQ+ representation in media. Could or could not be, it’s definitely a harmful take.

As to David (and Legion) you have finally explained why you are focusing on David while ignoring other lore - which is something I have asked for often and you just answered in the end. Which is okay and just your opinion, though you gotta agree that David is a fan favourite of many others as well and many of those are happy or indifferent to this reveal.

Its more of a hot topic than legion lore. I'm against all representation in video games when things are done for that sole purpose. I think video game developers should develop video games and the players can feel how they want about it, including if they feel represented or not. I feel like many game developers feel obligated to do this these days because of real life social influences and outcries. I've been playing video games my whole life. There was a time where no one cared about this stuff in video games and yet everyone played them and loved what they loved. What is wrong with that being the norm again? We don't need to make a narrative about representation in video games. People can identify with what they like in the games they play and that is perfectly fine. We shouldn't be worried about if all the representation check boxes have been filled in video games. Its really a non issue that people have made into an issue.

I think there is way more assuming going on from your side about me and what I assume.

i already told you what I assumed of you and that is stuff that you have explicitly confirmed in your comments. Everything else i tried to ask you and you were not giving an answer so I will assume could be this or that way and that’s it.

Do you think I'm a homophobe for not having the same care about legion lore as I do about David King's sexuality being revealed as gay after all these years? Yes or no will do.

there is not much to assume. It’s pretty obvious what is going on :)

🤣 Thats really going to set the tone for your replies to me on everything else I talk about here. Well what is "obvious" is you concluding something about me that is not true based on my opinion about something that you think I shouldn't be giving because I haven't mentioned my opinion about everything else lore related. It certainly can't be about people having a problem with it because of HOW it was done. Noo that can't be it.

At least I am not bothered by some optional background lore about a fictional character 🤷‍♂️

and again, I questioned you to find out if the assumptions holds true or not. I gave you many chances to explain your reasoning but it all boils down to you having something against LGBTQ+ representation in videogames. And that you explicitly stated and is all I am assuming.

Assuming tone is assuming against dissenting opinion.

To be fair, I don't think there should be any kind of representation in video games. But if you're going to do one thing, may as well do it for everyone right? I have a loooooooooong list of things I'd love to see represented in DBD. Would you like to see it? :)

If you don't care about the lore then please stop discussing the lore because with every word you utter about the lore it makes it seem like you do, in fact, care an awful lot about the lore.

Well I guess I can clarify that a little more. I care about the characters I care about. Kate, Meg, Yui, Feng, Jill, Leon to name a few. I read some stuff about them in game out of curiosity but thats about it. I don't actively scroll down the DBD twitter looking for lore updates. I just so happen to see this mentioned in the twitter feed they have here on the forums and then saw this thread about it. I think I can give my opinion about things if I want to. If that bothers you so much, even if you feel I have no place to give my opinion about this, then you are by no means obligated to read anything I say.

Honestly, I care more about putting on a smoking hot outfit on Kate and giving killers a hard time than I do about the deep lore of the game. I've never seen this game as one for much lore. Maybe if it had more content related to lore that was playable in game but the game is about repairing 5 generators and opening a door for survivors. I don't need lore to do that. I do like looking good while doing it though.

They made plenty of lore Tweets all the time though.

so you are telling me after all this time and all these stories the only thing you have a problem with is David revealed as being gay? And that has totally nothing to do with you being against LGBTQ+ representation in videogames?

Yep. For reasons already stated. I don't owe you anything more than that so you can keep posting with your assuming tone all you want. Doesn't bother me none.

Why only voice your opinion when it’s related to LGBTQ+ topics though?

have you been against the tome story of Legion? And if so, why come out and be so against these kind of addition now when it’s about someone being gay and not before? 10 rifts with at least 2 characters getting plenty of lore added

Because I can. Are you assuming more about me yet? :)

Also I hate Legion. Why would I care about his tome or lore?
