Lol imagine taking BnP instead of commodius toolbox with instructions and socket swivels when your goal is to genrush :P

Sounds good, but I'd make it progressive.
What I mean is: if a killer loses that totem early, the power of the remaining effect is strong, whereas it decreases the longer the match goes on.
Using your new Ruin for example, let's say that the base (active Hex) remains the same 100/150/200.
The cleansed totem effect starts with the same power, but decreases in its strength for every minute passed in the trial. Hypothetically, let's choose 10% the minute.
So if a survivor cleanses the totem after 1 minute, the remaining power would be 90/140/190.
After 5 minutes, the strength would be at 50/100/150.
This keeps the desire for the killer to keep the totem up as long as possible, whilst making unlucky totem spawns not as bad for the killer early, but making a lost totem increasingly worse as time goes on, until the effect eventually dissipates (e.g. the third rank reaches 0 effectiveness -> The trial would need to have been going on for a long time to reach this point, at this point "punishing" the killer for not being able to kill efficiently and quickly).
I find this to be a little more interactive, making an early lost hex totem not as bad for killers, whilst still giving the survivors the rewards of a removed hex effect if the match lasts (too) long.
Your thoughts?
altough a Good idea. I think it would be to hard to implement diminishing perk stats troughout the game. Also the point that makes hexes not fun (for me) is the huge risk of only having 3 perks left when cleansed. Having it do «something» would make you (me) feel less bad for losing it early.

The official kill rate in red ranks is almost 70%. The game is killer sided, yet so many baby killers complain about ruin being nerfed. Just stop, you are winning way too many games already. You don't deserve 4k every game. And if you can't get 3k on average, you are just bad, because judging by stats most other killers can. Practice more and stop acting like babies.
And the nurse has a killrate of 46% so tell me more about How those stats represent the balance of the game.

In reality I just want to see more reasoning. I also think we might be overreacting right now. This will go to the PTB and seeing how everyone is reacting right now i'm sure we will have some nice updates. Lets see how the update actually comes out from the PTB, thats what I want to see
If it was just the ruin change i 100% agree, but its back to back from other killer nerfs and now its getting to much. And since outcry is apparently the only way the devs listen then an outcry is what they are going to get.
Nerfs in general is getting to much, i don't like seeing anything nerfed unless its literally breaking the game. 80% of dbd's content is so weak and situational/boring that noone would bat an eye if it was just deleted.
so when the good things get nerfed then thats a MAJOR part of the game being dropped down to the 81% garbage bin...

I'd definitely suggest giving it a try first. My initial reaction is that remove the hex condition would make it far too strong. Combining it with Surveillance means you can see exactly which generators are being worked on at all times, and you can tell exactly when someone gets off the generator. If you aren't able to cleanse it, you wouldn't stand a chance.
I don't know how it is going to work yet, but im pretty certain a gen needs to be worked on. And then left, for survaillance to trigger. Meaning if you do not have a high mobility killer, you could have several gens pop before you even get any use of this combo.

Killer mains asking for meta survivor perks nerf after the ruin nerf suddenly forgot about Decisive, BT, Mettle of Man, Balanced Landing, but hey, devs are biased against killers, right? Grow up, while I don't have a problem with the current Ruin, this change might mean that something else will come in the game soon after this change, something like gen speed, they are planning things for the long term for a few months now, so chill.
No i have not forgotten about the 5 buffs to borrowed time since its original nerf. and DS is arguably stronger atleast not weaker than it was. Balance landing is still the best exhaustion perk altough not OP on haddonfield and such, mettle of man i agree with and the devs took it to far like they did with, legion and his addons, nurse and her addons being mostly a hindrance, oni and his only usable ultra rare, hex ruin, spirit (addons except prayer beads). And this is only in the last 3-4 months.
Edit: Im not even a killer main. i play mostly swf. And still i find the treatment from the devs to be extremely biased...
-
Atleast they are making the doctor less frustrating to "play against" The bias these last couple of months have been unreal by the devs.

Lery's is one of the maps that favours killers (statistically). Haddonfield favours survivors (statistically). So you can guess why lery's is getting reworked first. We can expect the game map to follow after this one...

Oh the sweaters that i have to pay for and theres no winter event with it. This game doesnt even try to bring the cheer anymore only money money money

Well thank you BHVR for proving me wrong again. I actually had some trust in you and i was proud of you for doing a good chapter with interesting perks and good characters. Oni was already tweaked before he got released ( and that's good ) but why did you have to just kill the entire fun of the character by almost entirely removing his flick ? Why should i EVER play oni instead of billy ? God, i don't know how to express my disappointment and sadness right now. Like seriously this game is the only thing that gets me through these days and the oni instantly became my favorite killer because of his power and aesthetic.
I do not understand. Why do you buy so much into what survivors say these days ? I get that we do not want to make the survivor experience bad but nerfed killers so, so so so so so so much these past couple of patches.
You removed the fun of nurse, and she's still just as unfun to play against.
You nerfed spirit , which was deserved i guess ( but there are also alot of survivor stuff that deserves to be tweaked or nerfed )
You just nerfed freddy again for some reason, because in a meta where doing gens as quickly as possible wins you the game, you decide to nerf him. Twice. You removed his ability to counter borrowed time and now you made his addons weaker. Oh, it wasn't fun to play against " forever freddy " ? Well i'm sorry but i don't find myself having any fun in these poorly designed maps like gas heaven or bloodlodge or thomposns house ETC, i don't find myself having fun when people keep unhooking in front of my face without any care because they can use borrowed time so they don't have to think any plan of unhooking his teammate , i don't have any fun when survivors have extreme confidence and jump in lockers because they have their " anti tunnel " 60 second immunity. I know, i know " just slug " , because that's fun. I could go on and on, but i'm just sick to the damn head. Oni was so damn fun , he was balanced, it hasn't even been a month since his release and you god damn nerf him already ?
I'm sorry for ranting so much but i'm so fed up because everything fun is being taken away from my hands in this game , seriously BHVR, why don't you truly balance your games and you make these silly changes? Why don't you make solo survivor not excruciating to play and why don't you give some weak killers some quality of life changes so that they don't feel so outdated or useless ? Why do you have to ######### on me so bad, launch a teaser and keep posting stuff of the new chapter and after it releases nerf it for no reason ? I know, different people , different opinions. But oni didn't deserve this. WE DESERVED a strong killer . Hell, atleast if he was still as fun to play.
I know this post isn't gonna change anything but i just couldn't keep it in me. I was so surprised and disappointed to see they actually nerfed him and it made me so sad. I know i seem like i'm exaggerating but damn i play this game everyday so i can cope with everything that's going on and to see something that was so important for me get taken away , it really hurts , i know it's just a video game but it's important to me. It wasn't even much time to enjoy it until they nerfed him. I know it seems like a small change, but small changes like these tremendously impact gameplay. I just don't understand why.
I feel you bro. I was just going to post a thread myself, but im at a point where i wish i could just walk away from this game since EVERY PATCH! They manage to do something that pisses me of. Which genereally is nerfing. I FUKING HATE NERFS for all sides. Nerfing takes away so much fun for both survivors and killers! ANd im sick of it! And if they don't get their act togheter soon i might actually have the sense to just drop this game. even though i really dont want to, but i hate being so passionate about this game that im going around mad in my daily life because if stupid beyond logic decision that are being made!
Sorry for the vent, but it was needed...

Those are two very different things and not comparable at all.
Oni can power up instantly if a survivor stays in one spot for too long, and it grows passively and you find them all over the place and can pull them from different floors, through objects, everything. There are so many chances; you can pull them in a chase but there are so few it's rarely worth it. What if your power is almost charged maybe it's worth that sacrifice maybe it's not.
It's also very quick to charge.
I can't see any actual valid argument in what you are asking sorry, it really is fine the way it is right now. Maybe down the road, if unexpectedly Oni turns out to be underperforming; sure maybe it's something to consider then, but for now, no as there is just no reason to.
I guess fun is only valid argument for survivors (Nurse, spirit, legion, pig...) Honestly this change is unnotied on the survivor side and healthy survivors dont drop orbs so in no way is this going to make him OP just more fluid, smooth and fun...
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Tbh I think just brutality makes sense though; but I am not about to argue against more bloodpoints.
As for the latter; you don't consume them in chases generally, that's why it slows you down. It's for a purpose. You have to make a choice.
It still feels unintuitive because of the long "wind up time" It feels completely unnecesary imagine if you had a 1,5 second "wind up time" for every action as survivor it would feel sluggish and frustrating not being able to do the "snap" fast paced actions.

And all the perks are niche or bad

Reply to all of the above.
- I did not miss Why they changed deepwound. And i mentioned in my post that the fixed 32m radius change to deepwound was a necessary change to prevent the exploits and such, But the sprint change is ontop of this completely unnecessary and removes the last viable reason to Even Bother putting people in deepwound(pressure).
- my point exactly But both of you seemed to miss that the exploit had already been fixed by the radius being fixed instead of terror radius bound.
- i agree it is AS i mentioned in my post. «It feels how it should be» and was, But coupled with the longer duration it feels better. And yeah the whole deepwound if not his power is in desperate Need of heavy tweaks/rework.
-
From my experience they can Only be injured, not hooked, not healthy, not Even downed.
-
Im going to try the survivor approach if i cant counter BT. I'll start playing scummy and hard camping from the moment the first hook is rushed.
Fighting fire with fire is always a good approach isnt it?
-
@Zoldyar said:
It's very easy to counter borrowed time:
You can use a killer that has no terror radius.
While the surivior is trying to get the Unhook you can grab them off the hook.
By the time the surivior Unhook the other guy, you would most likely have down the person trying to Unhook as they would be staying in a fixed position.
It is not easy to counter borrowed time.
What if i dont play a stealth killer?
What if im just out of range or they bait the unhhook?
So the counter is that i should start hard camping? Killers that try to play "Not scummy" is getting ######### over by BT abusers that hookrush. Unless you hard camp.
When BT is activated there is NOTHING you can do against it anymore unless free escapes with minimum effort is what this game has become.

I never said you lied about slugging being a tactic, but I did call you a liar about saying slugging is used to delay the hatch from being open. Slugging is primarily used to BUY TIME, which means survivor(s) should stop doing gens and get their teammates up but thanks letting us know what YOU use slugging for, now try to keep up.
2. Maps are being adjusted because people like you constantly complain about looping instead of being proactive and going after easier prey.
3. *face palm* just because your favorite killers get their powers tweaked doesn't mean they can't still get a 3k or 4k and the game is not obligated to let you get either of those, just like I'm not suppose to win every time, as a survivor.
3A. Lol, killer powers that survivors can control - you spelled counter wrong but I'll break it down for people like you.
Killer focus: Himself and his ability to play with X killer and survivors.
Solo focus(NOT SWF bc the majority of people just start lobbies): Himself and his ability to play against X killer. Killer. Killer traps and (my favorite) incompetent teammates.
You complain about getting window looped as if someone is forcing you to get looped when the entity will eventually cut it off after 3, lol. You talk about spirit and legion as if the game doesn't have anymore hard hitters like Clown and leatherface that turn into track stars the closer they get to you.
I'm not even going to get into how much and often hit boxes work for killers but screws over survivors. Still not convinced this game caters to killers? Look at points in the game. Survivors JUST started getting points for wiggling (4 years later) and I absolutely love when killer gets 5k for each DC, but if a KILLER DCs what do survivors get - nothing. You wanna talk about p2p host based multiplayer? Let's talk about no matter how garbage a person's internet is they're still able to play killer and host 4 other people. Sure they bought the game like everyone else, but when you knowingly play with subpar internet because it gives you a certain level of advantage over survivors then there's a problem.
Obviously you haven't played this game long enough to know these things kid. If a survivor DCs it's 5k for the killer and the game turns into 1 vs 3. If the KILLER quits - the end, and hopefully you don't lose your add-ons. Not even going to start on how insta-heals aren't a thing anymore, but the developers sure don't mind throwing in another killer with a one-hit down ability 🙃
Are we playing the same game?

If devs get rid of god loops then instadowns should be their next target.

I feel you. The demogorgon was so fluid to play for me during the ptb, but they did "Slight" changes to his lounge distance and stun time that made him not fun and fluid to play anymore for me. So if they do these things to the oni i will be greatly dissapointed.

So since the recent Nurse nerf I just pressed F for Nurse and havent played her much. Everytime I did, I had ZERO fun playing her. Some people her kept saying "muh nurse still good, git gud" or something like "Good/experienced Nurse players will not notice a difference".
Alright, so I went on twitch and checked out many streamers, looking for those "good" nurses since apparently Im a crying bad nurse (with over 20k blink attacks btw) and I found a twitch streamer who has over 7000 HOURS playtime, he mains Nurse, he has legacy on her (not that legacy shows skill but just shows that he played since release). This isnt even enough, it also comes that he is LEADING the WORLDWIDE leaderboard in at least 2 categories: Bloodpoints earned and sacrifised survivors. He has over 60k blink attacks as nurse, probably the most on the entire playerbase.
He made a Highlight about nurse. Its on German, but I went ahead and created Subtitles so everyone can understand him. Im not the best in english, so excuse grammatical errors I made. Hopefully its still understandable.
The video is absolutely on point. Im just really glad i never got to into nurse (the constant fatigue was enough for me to not have fun, the recharge on top was the absolute nail in the coffin for me.)
but on the bright side im going to have a breeze in red ranks as a survivor soon (after the spirit nerf) since there's no killer thats difficult or scary to go up against anymore.
-
Pips and ranking mean nothing to me. And they feel more like a measure of playtime.
And this feeling is not imaginary when my insanly bad girlfriend that can’t Even move her camera while moving (we still have fun tho), consistently pips for just being in the trial. There is absolute no skill involved.
as long as you dont suicide on the hook and don’t die until 2 gens are completed by your team, you are pretty much guaranted to pip.
In other words escaping and to some extent bloodpoints is my only measuring tool.

Some changes where needed like removing collision, But they always take it to far. Nerfing addons NOONE COMPLAINED ABOUT!

I want to chime in here as I have room to speak.
I main Freddy as my Killer. I used to use Myers second until I got Ghost Face. I play Leatherface if I want to be mean and camp/basement camp.
Freddy was also the first Killer I prestige 3 level 50ed. All back as old Freddy. He was the first Killer I really tried.
That said, I played Freddy when he first came out. I purchased the game around the time Halloween Myers update came out. But, didn't really start playing it until Freddy came out. I'm a huge Freddy fan and would, without a moment hesitation, drop money down for DLC that had a Freddy costume based on Robert Freddy with some voice clips from Robert.
That all being said. I mean, seriously, wow. Freddy was horrible. I cut my teeth in this game with him and.... here's a pun.... he was a nightmare to play as. Seriously. He was baaaaaaad.
Freddy single handily taught me to camp and tunnel off hook. Mostly because it took so damn long for people to fall asleep to hit them and SWF voice meant everyone just found each other and woke each other up if you didn't tunnel them. Camping allowed me to tag incoming player and off the hook player back into sleep. If I could down quick enough the person off the hook, I might be able to go hit the saving person if their SWF voice squad didn't wake them up already. The more people were asleep, the more you could see how well the coordinated with voice. Three sleeping people run away to opposite sides of the map, then all group up and are woken up one after another. How did they all know to converge on the same spot and wake up after running to different sides of the map almost every single game? I wonder.... how I wonder..... (hard eye roll.) That was the only thing old Freddy was good for; telling you how many SWF voice players were in your lobby. (Newsflash, a lot.)
He was not fun to play as at all.
New Freddy is much, much, much better. His teleport allows him to be one of the few Killers with map pressure and he can use his teleport for mind games and distraction. It's sweet.
Blood pallets are fun to play with; but I rarely use them. I see them as a cool gimmick. Maybe if I used them more I would get better use out of them. They make for a good "gotcha" moment. But, you basically have to either luck out or corral players into them and it's kind of hard for me to do that. If I got better at that, I might change my mind.
That said, blood snares are AMAZING! I'm not great at it yet, but they can be used to help shut down loops. I use them for intel. If a gen has a lot of work done on it, blood snare all sides of it. Put a dangerous Survivor on the hook? Blood snare every side of it. Have Hex Ruin? Blood snare my totem so I know it's been found and I can go defend it. Gens done? Blood snare each exit gate switch so I know which side people are trying to open. The uses are near endless.
All in all, new Freddy was a blessing and I enjoy him much more. He is actually a capable Killer. There is no reason to look back to the old. It was a sad, hate filled time of missery and sorrow. Deep, deep sorrow.
Oof... i stopped reading when you said old Freddy single handedly taught you to tunnel and camp...
no wonder you taught he was bad when you played towards his weakness instead of his strenghts.
old freddy was a beast. And anyone claiming otherwise simply didn’t know How to play him.

Do you want them to do it fast, or do you want them to do it well? Good, iterative design process takes time. If you rush a change out without really thinking about it, you're much more likely to just make things worse.
So far they are doing it slow and poorly (most of the time). Freddy was good, but his addons are now trash exept the very best ones. Nurse is worse with worse addons overall than before. And spirit is going to be worse with worse addons. So id rather take fast and poor/mediocre than slow and bad.

Only one I see crying is you now buddy with your stupid post, if you are one of Spirit Players then who's crying? Only thing I can say is that you are another killer who is missing the point of the game, "THE CHASE" spirit has no chase, Stridor, Pop, BBQ and Ruin .. Phase, Hit, Phase Hit, no chase no fun! I dont like Spirit, and I see most survivors are disconnecting against her cause most players who plays it doesnt know how to break a loop without an OP killer
so stop crying and play another killer and learn how to break loops
How the fudge are you suppose to «break» loops. Thats the problem! Spirit «breaks» loops, But is the one killer out of TWO that can. So arguing she has no counter play then surely survivors against regular m1 killers have no counterplay.
The double standards in this community is infuriating!

It's just the entire way they go about updating the game..
And before anyone says "iF yOu ArE sO SmArT wHeReS uR gAmE?11", I do not claim developing asymmetrical horror games is a breeze, and I have no clue how to even code anything, but I've been gaming my whole life and I can tell when developers are listening to feedback and really trying to improve the game for the players.
I do not think the DBD devs know very well what is best for their game, and yet they make rash decisions on both new and existing content that just do not work most of the time.
Example:
Some DLC is rushed out to the PTB with minimal optimization every 3 months (which is super quick for the size of their team). The content is alright but the new mechanics/changes/balance bring with them tons of (often game breaking) bugs, now the devs have only 2 weeks to address the bugs and balance the killer and suvivor (perks) before they go live. Naturally the bug fixing HAS to take priority and we're left with absolutely no changes to the content even if overwhelming feedback was given, or worse yet, they massively nerf stuff so they don't risk outrage (like Freddy when he came out) and just say "We'll fix that in the future".
This MO of releasing half-assed content every 3 months that they KNOW will have to be changed/reworked later just makes their resources and time stretch thinner and thinner, it is not a sustainable way to develop a game, or do anything really. Why can't we have optimized, well though-out content every 6 months instead? Where the PTB is much longer and feedback can actually be tested and bugs fixed BEFORE the content comes out?
That isn't the only problem, the devs also suffer from a "nerf instead of buff" mentality where if something is too strong, they decide to immediately nerf it instead of buffing the other side's counterplay to it. Then the other side becomes a bit too strong because they do not have to deal with the aforementioned thing and so they get a nerf too. This becomes a vicious cycle where each side gets progressively more superficial to play and requires less skill, effectively killing the fun for most people who enjoy challenging games and creating a boring, repetitive experience that they try to refresh with super often new content (unsuccessfully).
TL;DR
DLC is released too often for it to be balanced and bug free, likewise the PTB is too shorty to fix both the bugs and do the balancing (former takes priority). This means everything has to be eventually "reworked" anyway which wastes time and resources.
Devs prefer to nerf each side back and forth instead of buffing the counterplay to something that is too powerful, making the game superficial, repetitive and quite frankly boring.
I just wished the devs were more about quality instead of quantity, but they gotta get the revenue from somewhere right? No matter how bad that content is, it will not be delayed or pushed back when there's money to be made.
very well written. I agree with everything you said

Again, they can filter out DCs. Not just people who DCed, but games where people have DCed.
If someone DCed in a match, they can null and void that entire match regardless of how it went when it comes to looking at data, if need be.
What about matches where people just suicide because they dont like a certain map/killer/addon/offering?
-
To OP's post. Keys are not fair, but the game shouldn't be fair. If the games should be fair we need to remove all items and addons.
Keyes should remain the same since it's fun same way ultra rares should remain because its fun.
Of course those that don't like a challenge might not think its fun, but then again if you don't want a challenge don't play pvp games pve is more for those people.

They don't include dc's BUT! im fairly certain they still include the remaining 3 that didnt dc so the stats are very skewed and take in all the farming games and survivors just giving up the minute its not in their liking.
You can't balance around 2ks, because THEY are rare. Its either a full team swipe 3/4K or a full 3/4 man escape. The middleground is not happening in my games atleast. And i 4K most often because of survivors not really trying or their red rank friends bring their rank 15+ friends into my high rank matches!

This part of your post speaks little about balance - 4k's should actually be rare, not the norm. This is possibly why people think the balance of the game is off right now ?
The reason why 4k's aren't rare is because of the rampant dc epidemic and survivors memeing around doing archive challenges and giving up the minute it becomes to difficult. And or its a killer/map addons they dont like.
Actual survivors that TRY to win have no problem 90% of the time to achive their goal.

I've been wanting something like this for a long time. And now it's here! YAAY! My only complaint is that they lock future challenges behind timewalls which i do not enjoy in the slightes since my playtime is limited and can't always play every week.
Other than that i really like them and are looking forward to them actually getting abit challenging ;P
