True. But the same thing is true when 2-3 gens get done before the killer can get a down.

The early game almost always decides who wins and it sucks because you're left feeling helpless and with little hope for a comeback.

I'm not entirely sure how they'd fix this, other than maybe disincentivising tunneling and incentivising spreading hooks though.

Killers can still come back from 2-3 gens. unless the survivor has been running you on windows only and hasn't used any pallets. But after your first chase, the other ones will be easier probably.

Survivors can't come back from a 3v1 at 5-4 gens.

  • @Ayodam said:

I’ve played solo queue and yet to see any one quit at 4-5 gens. I think I’ve seen one person DC in like 15 games of solo queue over the last two days and that was with two gens left. I didn’t see anyone give up on hook in those games. I just don’t believe people are DCing and unhook failing as much as people here claim.

I actually see that very often. Like some survivors if they get downed a second time soon after the first time they DC or suicide. It's not always tunneling. Sometimes they just don't find anyone to heal them and they're easy downs if the killer catches glimpses of them. Next time I play I'll try to keep stats, but to me it seems very common.

Sometimes we get a random DC even if the game is going well, which could mean either they had to leave for irl stuff or they lost connection (has happened to me a few times as well, but rather rare).

There's a reason solo will never be boosted to the level of swfs. Solo makes up the bulk of the kill rates. A dev said that being in a swf can increase your chances of survival by "up to" 15%. So solo staying weaker than swf is by design, because if you strengthen solo then kill rates will drop. Even killers know this, it's why so many admit to lobby dodging perceived swfs. They'd rather play against solo teams because the lack of coordination makes them easier to kill - and they don't want counters to their effective strategies. I play solo and I just can't see any way they can throw us many more bones without p*ssing off lots of killer mains.

It really sucks though when a game is lost from lobby. If I get matched against idk, any A tier killer with their strong/strongest add-ons and strong perks and we don't have the perks or items that counter them it's gg for the killer. What's the point of playing that game? At least killers can counter items.

If I had any idea I'd verse Sadako maybe I'd bring an anti-slugging perk. if I knew I'd verse a SM I'd bring a gen perk etc.

And in that case they don't want co-ordination for solos, they're gonna need to buff solo survivors individually more. Why don't they do something with the role of the obsession? As it is now more often than not, it's just a non-factors and others, depending on killer perks can just screw you over. Obsession should have more power if they're solo or something and should have more agency in the game (as they have negative already, they should also by default have a positive). SO if a person who is decent/good gets the role of the obsession can have a bigger impact in the game than they do atm. As I said, they can have plenty of negative impact due to how killers play, but the game should put more difficult decisions regarding the obsession. Should the killer (if they have perks and whatnot) leave the obsession for the end and risk the obsession doing stuff for the team? Or should the killer get rid of the obsession fast? Ofc that would come with tunneling, but I would assume a good player (looper in this case) might probably prefer to be tunneled. I definitely understand random players getting it and not being good at the role. But there's so much you can do with it. Plus sometimes you can increase your chances of getting the obsession, so people who might be ok with increased attention from killer but also increased agency might pick that playstyle.

Im not saying its fool proof, just a suggestion. And as I said in a comment above, just like killer, you would have to do things to earn the emblems. I guess my point is the pipping should be based on emblems, emblems should be complementary to pipping.

Don't emblems indirectly relate to pipping? At iri grades, unless you have two iri emblems and at least one gold you don't pip. (I don't remember if you can pip with all four gold emblems).

You gain emblems by doing things (and failing things), so don't emblems represent the amount you did already?

  • A few days ago I had the worse day of solo survivor I've ever had. Maybe it was my playstyle being bad as well (probably), but from trolling teammates to killers playing in the most unlikeable ways I lost it.

To me it feels like we are held back by BHVR itself. Not strong enough individually and not co-ordinated enough as a team. That's the most frustrating part imo. Killers don't want us better co-ordinated, but at the same time when they adopt highly effective strategies (gen regression/kicking meta, anti-heal meta tam etc.) they might not always admit it, but the counter to those strategies are good co-ordination. I've even seen some people (I hope they're in the minority) complain about the UI change for survivors. The only thing that has helped with is knowing that perhaps you have to go for the save since the others are doing gens and time your adrenaline. It has not made people know which gens to start on, which perks their team has, which perks the killer has (they cannot communicate), co-ordinate hook saves, ask for protection, ask for heals, which gen has progressed enough but was interrupted and someone else should take over, what to do during face-camping Bubba etc.

The UI is a step in the right direction, but this change hardly does anything for solo survivor, as they still have no way to communicate their intentions to each other, which means solo survivor will be frustrating for a long time to come. Nurse and Blight still remain a problem at all levels and will remain and they are not usually know to play in any way "nice".

  • @Nebula said:

I agree with you that solo queue survivor is a nightmare for the majority of the time, but hating on Wesker and Demo is kinda wild to me. They're so well designed in my opinion and are probably my top 2 favorite killers to play against because of how many opportunities to mind game are on both sides. I can admit though that Weskers hitboxes on his dash are a little clunky sometimes but I believe that's more ping related than bad hitboxes.

I think his hitbox during the power is bigger. Maybe they would re-adjust it?

  • Now imagine no one comes out for 10 games straight but you did all 5 gens, unhooked 3 teammates and healed 4 and got chased for 2 minutes. Must feel bad not getting a single recognition.

As it is atm, the problem with pipping and de-pipping is that you can de-pip from a win, which shouldn't happen in any way shape or form. You can pip once (idk about twice as I think that would promote a different mentality which not everyone may like) even if you were extremelly efficient. I de-pipped just the other day cause SK decided to go afk (maybe they had to do something idk, they started playing normally).

You should also not de-pip when someone in your team DC's, as well as the killer.

Pipping should happen both when you've done well individually (say you all died but you were very productive), when you are very efficient therefore end the game early and when you get 3 men out even if you died in the process (the game should be able to judge how useful you were to the team).

De-pipping should not happen when you win efficient, when the killer DC's, when a teammate DC's therefore making the game a loss 90% of the time.

  • I sent a small something thanks for providing the link.

I'm pretty sure green puke doesn't interrupt the unhook (or any animations), red does because survivors lose a health state.

As for the first dc, some people really can't handle plagues whole puking theme and can't play against her at all. Her and doctor aren't the best sensory experiences.

It was the green puke. Adam had been playing normally until that part (been like 10-15 mins).

I could understand him DC-ing as soon as he discovered it was Plague.

  • @Droneinthrwind said:

I took off we'll make it for of the record because DAMN. No point in running we'll make it, never get to use it anyway.

I've actually gotten a lot of use of We'll make it. It depends on your team ofc. If they're overly altruistic they get to the hook before you. The one I have a hard time getting good use out of is We're Gonna Live Forever. I run it in case the killer slugs and then he never slugs, once I take it off and they slug I'm like (well now I needed that perk).

  • @thrawn3054 said:

Naymeti is the only person I see running it. The healing nerf kinda killed what use it had.

It's very hard to get all 3 protection hits in a normal match, unless you are trying to throw the game. Like I run bond with it and at most I got to 2 protection hits and sometimes it didn't detect a protection hit as one. Plus if teammates keep running away from you you have to follow them around doing nothing.

Perhaps it could work with a perk that lets your teammates see your aura than the opposite (like I said earlier Empathic Connection might be decent with? I don't have it so I cannot try it on atm).

It's one of those rare ocassions where you want your teammates to bring the killer to you.

It seems more like a perk that might work once in a while incidentally but that you don't get value out of it consistently (unless you go for a sabo build, but admittedly I haven't yet).

  • @I_am_Negan said:

then Laurie was there trying to save him but she was hook spamming him

My money is on the Laurie.

I was puking on her. But I dunno if it stops the animation halfway and reset it or she could complete it but didn't. I've played Plague like 3-4 times.

  • Do you still get scared by horror movies you've watched 5+ times already?

  • Might be a killer map at 90% killrate. But it's still a survivor map cause SWF doesn't care(sarcasm my friend).

  • Time to bring the killer to that Left Behind teammate.

  • @Mooks said:

    i would love that.

but it’s very unlikely as it doesn’t make any sense business-wise to give people even more options to get characters and cosmetics for free, which is important for the monetization

Yeah but the rate is atrocious. You would need 1mil BP for 1000 Iri Shards. People who buy cosmetics instantly as they come out are not gonna change over this. And I'm sure certain people who may be willing to spend money on cosmetics won't spend it on cosmetics that you can grind for, only ones that have no Iri price (example me).

Still dont and get why to this day or time why solo potoates do not like running this lovely perk and when they go down in 2 seconds they dc or people assuming you kept hiding cause the killer never chased you till x time or never, umm yes i love to sit on my 90% gen and not have to worry on some nurse/spirit/blight zooming to it to chase me off it thank you. Huntress and blights 90% of the time will always have lethal/bbq/flood and even bitter murmur so yes you blocking their aura stuff makes em so angry!!!!!!!!!! lol. I remember a huntress with bitter murmur/bbq/lethal/floods and that add on that lets her see aura if hit by a hatch, she dear comes into my stream and calls me a cheater because she couldnt find me. Right lady read the perk I use. As a streamer not surprised when am tunnel/bm etch specially when I wasted so much of the killer time hahaha.

It's because they use Spinechill since it's a general perk and very beginner friendly. But Distortion is actually superior for solo survivor and doesn't teach imo bad habits since you do have to take chase when the killer finds you after all.

I know you claim it was continuous hitting but just because even if it's one hit someone people claim it's BM. I just want to throw out that sometimes killers hit on hook to stop the scream. It's not always person. Hell, there has been times I've slipped and accidently hit a survivor on hook. I'm sure at their end they thought it was BM.

Ok so you hit someone 3-4 to stop the screaming then? That sounds like a reach tbh. One time I can understand, but more than that seems like you're trying to find ways to justify what their intentions. The good thing was that bming Huntress didn't get me with her Bloodwarden, so at least I got that going for me. Distortion saved my ass.

They will if you make it impossible for them to get to them and, if the Killer won't even swing at you, you and the injured survivor have wrecked the Killer's pressure. The best counter to tunneling is forcing the Killer to spread out hook states. What most of my 3 or 4E games have in common more than any other factor is multiple hook states spread out over the team. What most of my 4K losses have in common is the last one or two remaining survivors with no hook states until they get killed. Hook states are a resource to be spread out and part of the macro strategy of the game. It's far more reliable to bodyblock to get Killer aggro than it is to teabag which is a crappy BM thing to do and only really works on Killers new to the game.

I don't disagree with you, there are survivors who don't wanna trade their hook states and that can become a problem later on because they never use them up and if killer sacrifices them last they just died on their first hook anyway.

I'm not saying this applies to all but it's not super easy to see the line where you're one footstep away from leaving the match and one where you're leaving the match. It is possible to want to give the Killer a hit but accidentally step just a little bit too far. I don't blame anyone I see being overcautious as, on the Survivor side, I have had Killers (albeit rarely) try to angle the hit to force me back into the match so they can pick me up and hook me.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3443914#Comment_3443914

Rather than teabagging to goad the Killer you could just make yourself seen and/or bodyblock so there's no BM. Less inexperienced Killers are far more likely to fall for that than experienced Killers so why BM and make their day worse if they're not BMing?

No killer will leave their injured survivor. Bodyblocking might do the trick, but not always.

  • It would be nice if Victor also had a little costume, to go with this.

Borgo is an insane huntress map, she can see for miles with no fog. I've seen multiple huntresses with borgo offerings before.

You can hardly hide on this map, it's also a good Nurse map.

Played against a Huntress there yesterday, unless you know this map well enough you get stuck on everything (I know I do) and I felt very exposed with those low loops.

  • I think Borgo is also a great Huntress map, since most loops have rubble and all that extra stuff around them, you can really get hit by her hatchets over them. Or get stuck.

Yeah I don't buy it either. I've literally never BM'd once in this game, not even a single tbag, despite having had plenty of bad matches. I don't get this apparent 'I'm gonna take my frustration out on the next lot' stuff. As soon as the game is over I've moved on.

I sometimes tbag if I get too into the game, but when I see in the end screen that the killer is new I just apologize. I just tbag to goad the killer to me but overall It's not something I think to do the majority of the time.

In my Demogorgon game I brought MoM, that I bought in the Shrine and I see Felix getting chased and I am like "ok I can take a protective hit", then Felix slams shack oallet in my face although I was right behind him 😅

And then Demo switches to me and he starts camping me and hitting me, like what did I do?

I couldn't care less what stupid gestures some random guy in a video game makes to me. Bleeding out is dumb, but I always take it as an opportunity to take a little break. And honestly, it doesn't happen often.

You must not take such people seriously and you must grow a thick skin. Remember, if you get angry at their immature behavior, they have achieved their goal.

To be honest most of the time when I see a killer without no prestige it all makes sense and I am like ok, it's cause they don't know the killer and are frustrated, but yesterday it was a bad day in general as solo survivor. Even the teammates were bad a lot of the matches, I already started getting tilted way earlier.

  • @Witchubtet said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/377633/whats-up-with-killers-today

To be honest? Probably just bad matches before they met you. I know when I get hit with three or more bad matches I will turn into the biggest *** sometimes.

I also had bad matches though. The only game I cracked was owhen I had two Jakes doing nothing all game but crouching and doing flashlight saves, that I tried to kill myself on hook and they wouldn't let me so I DC'd cause they would unhook spam me.

Should I also start tea-bagging at killers for the ones who have behaved in the same manner and do it to baby killers?

  • I've been trying all day to get it to work. SOmetimes it's buggy and doesn't register a hit as a protection hit and even when I run it with Bond my teammates keep running away from me. Maybe you should run it with the Empathic Connection, maybe then they'll come to you.

  • Does hitting the great skillchecks even do anything?

  • @Witchubtet said:

Oof, personally as a killer I don’t fully like that map too. A lot of annoying areas and corners. They could make the mines from Downpour or something however

They could make the town of Silent Hill as well. Just having really bad games today, from teammates letting a survivor hit stage two while I'm getting chased and both working on the same gen, to Jake's trying to be youtubers and sucking at it, and killers facecamping or bleeding us out for whatever weird power trip they want to have.

  • @Archael said:

  • I just want to learn to use flashlights on controller, nothing personal. Although I only equip flashlights if we're 4 premade. If I'm solo I try to bring more useful perks (I don't bring any items lately)

  • I would like to be able to see my teammates perks so I know how to play around them.

And maybe be able to communicate killer perks to my team if I figure one out and they the same,

The mere fact that lightborn even exists should be reason enough for blinds to be nerfed so they aren't just basically stuns, I really don't think it's healthy to have to dedicate an entire perk slot to an absolute hard counter just to ensure that you won't get random bad luck when someone throws a bang or a flash save at you

You could say the same about slugging. People say, if you hate getting slugged bring Unbreakable, if you hate camping bring Reassurance etc. There's many problems that can only be countered with perks. For blinds you can pick facing the wall. If the survivor gets downed at a pallet, should pallet saves also be removed?

Sometimes I wish I could just disable the HUD. I just dont want to see what my teammates are doing because it really affects my mood. Whether it is Self-Caring for a long time, not doing anything or cleansing Dull Totems against a Pentimento-Killer (seriously, I had a Jeff yesterday who kept cleansing Dull Totems against a Pinhead with Pentimento...).

I dont want to see that this Leon is running around between two completed Gens instead of doing a Gen. (And escaping with the least amount of points afterwards...)

    @Topic:

Yeah, it makes you really question your sanity to see so many Self-Care players. I also really hate to see people setting up Boons. CoH is not worth the time to set up anymore. Even before the most recent nerf it was annoying that Survivors kept blessing their Boons instead of doing Gens, but now it is just so bad to keep blessing Totems instead of doing the Objective.

I think I've had 3 matches with 2 people running self-care. The annoying part is that they just go somewhere to heal themselves when you can heal them faster. As well as not finding them around when you need a heal.

There are times where I am also not doing "anything", because either I'm looking for my 2 hook teammate to protect or perhaps they have a hex totem and I'm looking for it.

As for the boon, yeah back in the day I remember people running boons not doing anything for a minute straight when they are looking for it. When I run a boon or a totem perk (like Overzealous). I try not to waste much time. I look around a bit and if I'm having difficult finding anything I just focus on the main objective first. If I find a totem near the next gen I'm working on I'll cleanse it though.
