  • No but seriously you guys, these aren’t just killers you are thirsty for. 😂

    I mean you appreciate them for their coolness/scary factor too.

    @Nebula

    Ok, ngl if I see a Pig that is just too good, and still let people boop her snoot. I have mad respect for those Pig players so most likely I will die either saving someone or not care if I play it too unsafe and die as a result.

    The number of times one has gotten me killed is insane. She's just too attractive when she's on a hook, especially during end-game collapse.

    All those points though... I'd do it again in a heartbeat - curse my lack of self control!

    LOL It’s the way her legs move as she Urban Evasions to sandbag you isn’t it?

  • Sprint Burst is far more superior than any other exhaustion perk.

  • Hop in a locker.

  • I guess I should have specified, that’s not Michael you guys, just a prop (trash bag I think) that looked like him from afar! 😂😂

    At first I was like “Oh god he gave up, I knew it the moment he got this map” LMAO

    The real Michael was standing behind me.

  • It is a boring way to play tbh. I will agree with that 110%.

    With that being said, BHVR allows excessive slugging so there is nothing you can really do, other than perhaps continue to bring it up and offer suggestions.

    I personally when I play killer like my points so I am not going to be that sweaty especially at 4 gens left.

    I am not sure how experienced you are but just hang in there and use this as a learning experience, a lot of times these type of nurses bring Infectious which makes it even more annoying, but an effective team will ignore slugged survivors and remain separate, because that is what she where she wants your attention/focus. Don’t fall for her baitDo gens and force her to chase in a different area.

    You don't have a clue what "playing scummy" even means. You just think if you get sacced, it was scummy play.

    BT, as I've said several times, is an important perk on paper. But its current iteration is not the way to have it. Whether the 12 second duration, or something else.

    Going for the injured Surv is not scummy. Frankly, NOT going for the injured Surv is what we call sandbagging in the normal gaming community. (As opposed to DBD's weird community that took that existing term and made it mean something else.)

    @TGB

    Going for an injured survivor that just got unhooked because you refuse to leave the vicinity of the hook IS scummy.

    I think you are the one who is clueless here. Maybe Start counting and stop complaining.

  • Maybe if Camping and Tunneling wasn't so prevalent then you wouldn't need to worry about those 12 seconds.

    You know, its kind of funny how players complain about "It's basically a 5th perk because...."

    Kind of like when survivors have to assume or wonder if killers are gonna play scummy that day.

    Well, I have fun as a Survivor playing against Campers. I enjoy the challenge of getting the person off that hook. I don't like leaving anyone behind. So it is a matter of mindset.

    @Moundshroud

    I like the challenge of playing against good players who aren't just standing at a hook. Especially because like I said before I play a ton of killer too and I know how easy it is to just sit still by a hook. I like challenge on both sides.

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2192550#Comment_2192550

    For the record, I also play just as much Survivor as I play Killer (as a Solo too). That means my commentary is not based on any bias toward either role. Your question is a fair one, but I submit a couple of things:

    1. Camping and Tunneling are not automatic win buttons (particularly against good Survivors).
    2. Challenge and Conflict are the heart of the DbD game engine. This is a PvP game.
    3. Player Agency is the FUEL that keeps this engine running.
    4. Killers have fewer choices (agency) to make. They can search and destroy or defend. That is pretty much it. They choose who to chase, and whether to try and defend their downed prey or a specific Generator. Removing defending as an option reduces Killers to Bots, like the ghosts in that old Pac Man game. No choice equals no investment. No agency soon means no Killers. Those Players want to make their own choices too, so they must have some to make.
    5. I (most people in fact) can have fun in a game whether they win or lose as long as it was challenging.
    6. Fun doesn't come from the game. I know that is hard to understand, but we bring the fun with us. It is a mindset, nothing more. What an individual perceives as fun varies widely, but I assert that a competitive PvP game is probably best-suited for those that enjoy challenge and conflict. Their fun comes from trying to overcome the obstacles, and that they will have their fun win, lose, or draw. Those people who only enjoy a game if the outcome isn't really in doubt, and an eventual win is certain, are better served by games like World or Warcraft. I'm not saying that to be mean, just stating a fact. When you play World of Warcraft you are NOT really ever in any jeopardy. It is a time in grade thing, with cool visuals and a guaranteed outcome. You WILL win, it is only a matter of time (and not that long). The entire game is a reward engine. You get treats and gold stars far more often... MOST OF THE TIME... do you see my point? Dead by Daylight is different on a fundamental level. You could play this game for years, but until YOU get better, you will not succeed. You will only get treats when you earn them. The two games cater to very different types of people, or at least people who are looking for a different experience. There are those who play both games, but it is clear what they are looking for when they choose one over the other at a given time.
    7. Realistic expectations is the way to ensure your fun. If you have an unrealistic (or unreasonable) expectation about the outcome of a game, you are going to be unhappy with the results. The dissonance it causes will cut into your fun. To a large degree this is because our ego doesn't like being shown up. It kicks in as a self defense mechanism and causes us to scapegoat things, rationalize the loss, and so on. If you go into a game with lowered expectations, or assuming the worst, you are going to have a lot more fun.
    8. Long term goals are better for you because short term obstacles and reversals don't matter.

    I have bunch more of this but I realize that I'm deviating for our core discussion of Camping and Tunneling. Let's go back to that, Killers do what Killers must, the same as Survivors. They are adapting to whatever the new normal is today. I know this because I play both roles. I have fun in BOTH roles. I take the good and the bad of both roles. I prefer to spend my time playing the game, rather than complaining about it. If I wasn't having fun, I 'd have already moved on to another game.

    @Moundshroud

    I appreciate the response. By the way the question was in reference to you saying Camping is a fun challenge for survivors... I asked if that is the mindset concept, where is the challenge for killers? Unless you don't think killers need a challenge.

    Here is the thing too. I don't think anyone is really asking for Camping and Tunneling to be removed. It is an acceptable tactic but in order to become a tactic the opportunity has to be there. I think people just want other/more options.

    For me, someone who just got mad because their Ruin got popped and they decide they want to face-camp a survivor isn't a tactic on it's own. It is a situation that the killer is trying to force by refusing to fulfill their objective via an action which has no downsides from a counter perspective (for that hooked survivor).

    I also get that survivors could simply "Work on generators" as a way to counter this, but in reality that is not what players want. They don't want to be forced to hold M1 in order to "win".... so this is where I will respond to your winning/losing and still having fun comment. I can honestly say that in the 5.4k hours I have in this game, I have never once had fun in a match where I just held M1 and opened an exit gate. Ever. In fact, I would rather die 1000 matches than have to hold M1 in a game where it's core concept is based around chasing and mind-gaming and generally interacting with the opposing side.

    I don't really understand the comparison between a PVE game and a PVP game. You can have a fun mindset, but (again) if standing still infront of a survivor's face at a hook is fun for you then more power to you. Ironically THAT to me feels more like you are playing with against a bot, than an actual player. I want to play the game not set up a tent next to a survivor because that is not what is going to make me a better killer.

    Bottom line is Camping and Tunneling to an extent are unacceptable from a balance perspective. So at the very least developers could do is simply apply built-in options for survivors outside of perks, because many till this day complain about seeing DS/UB all the time, well it will stay that way until they aren't necessary perks for the most part.

    It would only be "objective" if the universe revolves around you. It is YOUR "objective" truth. Are you one of those people who believes the world began when you opened your eyes, and it will all end when you close them again? I hate to break it to you champ, but there are other people in the world and they are "real" not just figments of your imagination. They have thoughts and opinions running around in their minds too. And shocking though it may be, many of them may not agree with you. :)

    I, for example, think tunneling and camping are fine, just tactics and one more obstacle I have to work around as a Player. To me, the fun is in the challenge. I assure you that I am 100% sane. Since my objective truth is different from yours, I have just proven that NEITHER of our truths is objective. Are you able to follow. The mere existence of you and I proves that our respective truths are "SUBJECTIVE."

    @Moundshroud

    I don't mean to intercept your conversation with someone else, but I don't understand one thing.

    By the sounds of it, you think camping is fun because it (in your opinion) provides a challenge for survivors? Where is the challenge for a killer when it comes to that concept? I say this because as someone who religiously plays 50/50 (survivor and killer both in red ranks) I couldn't even fathom camping in the manner where it forces survivors to hold M1 and call that "fun". Like, I get it, maybe it is fun for others, but for me a challenge is when you have out-smarted survivors during a chase and patrolled generators preventing them from finishing their objective and in turn sacrificing them to the entity. Neither of which Camping for the entirety of a match provides.

    Fun is subjective, yes. Camping and Tunneling feels too cheap let alone fun, for those of us who don't use it outside of where they were used as a strat.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2192369#Comment_2192369

    The counterplay is to not be in the deadzone in the first place. Thats why they are called dead zones and you want to avoid them. There is no killer that has counterplay in a deadzone. You enter the zone and you are dead.

    @Friendly_Blendette

    Oh, so Oni doesn't have counterplay in a dead zone. Got it.

     "There is no killer that has counterplay in a deadzone."

    Huntress: You can dodge hatchets.

    Hillbilly: Has to be close to the survivor to guarantee a chainsaw or survivor could try to avoid it.

    Basically any M1 killer can hit you once and you can go to another zone.

    Not being in an area isn't counter play. Especially when your objective is in the middle of nothing many times. Also there are many dead zones and hallways with nothing, so when I hear balance, I can name other killers who are way more balanced.

  • I just have a question to the people that say Oni has counterplay...

    How do you counter Oni in a dead zone?

    This is just an honest question. I ask because I can think of many killers who I believe have way more counterplay in both dead zones and structured areas. Hillbilly comes to mind.

  • By giving survivors more built in options that promote more fair scenarios.

    To me if you want my honest opinion, if a killer is just facecamping, they are not playing the game. So if everybody else is holding M1 on a generator for the entirety of the time they are refusing to leave hook, the survivor on hook should automatically be given more attempts to escape the hook.

    I don't care how much of a "strat" they want to advertise it as, that isn't playing the game to me... and if you think it is, it is a very boring one at that.

    The simple fact is that many treat "Looking into how to rework camping" as "removing it" when it is in fact not that. I hate that this is also the mentality the devs seem to have from what I have gathered from their streams.

  • Comparing Apples to Oranges.

    I think its ok to accept that someone ran you good, even if you killed them. It doesn't mean that they are not allowed to feel accomplished a little.

    I have seen survivors literally run a killer for what should have been 2-3 gens, but their team sucked, and thus no gens were repaired. So I am not going to not acknowledge that they lost because of their team.

  • As with everything else, it really depends on the situation.

    While you have the right thought in mind, you can't expect someone to 99 a gen simply because a trap is on someone's head. If it is the last gen and they have Pop and someone went down, you better believe I am going to pop it. However if a teammate is in basement and the killer is camping, I won't necessarily do it to avoid No Ed and giving them a snowball... especially if they are staying around basement.

    I think your title should have been "Think before you pop a gen" and then give your explanation as to why, instead of requesting that no gen should be popped simply because someone has a trap on. How do you know their trap won't come off from their first try? You don't. Analyze the situation and make your best judgement on that.

  • Yeah those first 60 seconds are rough...

    That's why I had 2 people downed within 40 seconds.

    40 is my standard, 60 is just too long.

    Being disappointed and getting mad at them isn't the same thing.

    @TheDarkTyrant

    Not really.

    I was disappointed that they didn't include a survivor when Ghostface came out, and I was pretty upset because I am a big fan of Sidney Prescott so to find out there wasn't even a survivor coming with him, was rather annoying to say the least.

    I think you are confusing being mad while also being a jerk about it vs being mad and expressing your disappointment.

  • I mean I’d like to think that everybody understands that.

    People also have a right to be disappointed if a game they support financially and time wise doesn’t include licensed characters which have already been established and people might have a longer history with, etc.

    @th3

    Ok so you’ve played him at least once, got it.

  • @th3

    Nice flex, but not what I asked.

    You can have 6k hours and have never touched a killer.

    I have 5.4K hours and have barely have any hours on Nurse. You won’t see me bringing up perspective on her balance because it takes playing her to understand her fully. Just like with Michael.

  • @th3 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2189798#Comment_2189798

    I don’t think you understand the complaints about it. It’s complained about because it can delete a survivor from the game, without hooking them. Discarding it after already killing a survivor doesn’t change its impact.

    @th3

    I just have a question... Have you actually ever played Michael while using a tombstone?

    I just have to ask because it is much more common that most if not all gens will be done by the time he is actually able to use it. Which even then you can still counter it by simply hopping inside a locker. Because then that leaves Michael with 2 options A) hook you and lose his ability to kill you OR B) drop you and force you keep running, in which case I don't know why anyone would do that as the survivor would just find another locker.

  • First, as someone who mains Michael I don’t like this notion of “we need to change this killer because someone else showed up that does what he does, but better”. We need killers who are also fun and unique to play as and not just by allowing them to easily use their power. Besides, his power should feel different than Ghostface (as I assume that’s who you are referring to) I like that they don’t feel the same. Ghostface is suppose to be more sneaky whereas Michael is not trying to sneak up behind you, he just stands there and stalks.

    Michael is a well balanced killer because he has to work for his T3 and it feels rewarding to do so when he is able to utilize it. So I wouldn’t mess with his base kit at all. I think it’s fine that there are perks that can counter his T1, they are forced to bring a perk after all. So I have no issue with that.

    You are changing his base kit meanwhile merging his add ons which is what I personally think could use some updating. Not the other way around.

    There is a reason why Michael still to this day remains a killer who is actually both fun to play as and against for the majority of the people (in my experience) His power is potent and lethal enough, but survivors can keep him at bay if they are smart, without completely taking it away.

    If there are two people in the basement, you'd be kinda throwing NOT to proxy.

    @Pulsar

    Right. What I am arguing is the irony that survivors "need a perk" when the killer can force a snowball by proxy camping which is reduced to you like easy kills if you have to choose that method of killing survivors.

  • Let me put it to you this way...

    You think killers cry now because of DS? 😂

    That could work, maybe make it so the muffled sound starts out light but intensifies the longer she uses her power.

    If stridor is an issue, what about making it so that it simply is not active while a killer is actively using their power?

    @TMCalypso

    Personally I think Stridor is fine. The killer is spending a whole perk slot to get those cries and grunts.

    I think for me the problem with Spirit is very evident that it is far too easy to pinpoint the exact location of an injured survivor. That’s why most Spirits M1 first and then use their power. By making is a bit harder to pinpoint the survivor’s exact location, opens doors for more mind-games from the survivor’s side.

  • To me they should make the sounds she hears muffled/echoed?

    This way survivors’ cries and grunts aren’t so easy to spot where not seeing a survivor basically means nothing because you know exactly where the sounds are coming from.

    Lore wise it makes sense as to me every time she Phases she is in a spiritual plane.

  • Tbf these forums are not reflective of what the DBD community in its entirety believe in terms of the game’s issues/ideas etc. They are just a portion of it.

    In fact, it is my belief that the general consensus is that these forums have a bad reputation. As sad as that is to say, because I am sure there are some wonderful people on here... but like many other forms of social media where bickering just seems potent, many probably don’t bother in the idea that their opinion might just get drowned in all of the negativity. That’s why people tend to stay away, only lurk on the forums IMO.

    I finally found my gnome in a game as a survivor (two in one game in fact!).

    Best tip I can give for finding it is don't look too hard. Check obvious spots, like hills and open areas and do brief scans as you run around, instead of scrutinizing every crevice.

    Also remember that the laugh also indicates he spawned somewhere else on the map, not that he's near your current location. Multiple gnomes can spawn per game, but only one will appear at any time.

    @Beaburd

    Yeah! I forgot to mention that cuz I was so excited to post about getting it.

  • Lately? lots of Wraiths.

  • Why do we need to buff killers and solo queue survivors?

    There are two common denominators as to why killers and solo queue survivors do bad: Their Skill (or lack there of).

    How do you take that into account because as far as I am concerned, I don’t need comms in order to do well. If the teammates are decent at the game comms are meaningless. If the killer is decent at the game, SWF comms will hardly have an effect on the outcome.

    I always see these threads and no one talks about the skill gap that many players have in this game. No one. I am willing to bet if we were able to see a stats on how many times you over-committed to a chase as killer or you played it extremely safe and didn’t even look behind you as a survivor, you’d be wondering who the problem really is.

  • If they are not a SWF team I dodge.

    I kid, I don’t dodge any lobby unless something irl comes up.

  • Oni and Hag (w/ Rusty Shackles)

  • Haunting Grounds. This game was a lot of fun and the potential for cosmetics is there too!

    CE104344-67E7-4687-8CB6-1F985682FAC6.png

  • Personally I find them a lot of fun to play against.

    Having played them I also understand how they do take skill, especially if you are switching in between chases.

    The only thing I have ever said that needs to be changed about Twins is the ability to park Victor by the hook, then it would discourage people from pulling that cheap tactic.

  • Won’t work on killers like me who could care less what you bring. XD

    That is funny though, and totally smart against those killers that gotta “prepare”.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2178311#Comment_2178311

    It was me.

    In order for their to be any semblance of balance, Solo's MUST have the same tools that SWF have.

    Nurse and Spirit are fair against SWF but unfair against Solo's, ergo, buff Solo Q.

    It's also miserable

    @Pulsar

    What tools are those?

    Solo doesn't suck because you can't tell a teammate when the killer is on you or because you saw a hex and can describe it's location.

    Solos suck because most of the time they are incompetent survivors who refuse to hold M1 or stay productive during a match. Or the moment they hear a heartbeat they go into immediate immerse crouching mode. It has nothing to do with comms.

    Also, if only Nurse and Spirit are fair why is it that most killers like myself (who main Myers and play Trapper) 3-4k a lot? I must be going against all kinds of potatoes in my region I guess. Mind you, I specifically choose those killers because they offer a challenge, unlike Spirit who is just a breeze because that is how easy she is to play as.

  • Victor is basically the reason people played as Twins.

    I still can’t believe they went through with this change. >.<

  • So you like to go into lockers?

    Fine! You’re hired!
