Your friend can absolutely still play with you immediately if they want. Just maybe advise them to play at their own level first so they can improve and maybe stand a better chance when you decide to throw them into the deep end when they are still at a lower rank.

@TAG No. My friend has to deal with the same issue the lowbie killer had to deal with.

Killers had a choice before as well, doesn't mean the system didn't need changing.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/712081#Comment_712081

Not if they deliberately choose to do so. Now if they DIDN'T have the choice to not play against an opponent with 2k hours, that would be a problem.

If you don't want your new friend to play against a Rank 1 Killer, don't team up with them as a Rank 1 Survivor.

@TAG Lol ok, so I got my new friend to play the game, but they just can't play it with me until they reach my level. Gotcha.

    What a brilliant idea.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/712055#Comment_712055

It absolutely is. If the problem is that people deliberately de-rank a bunch, the solution is to punish people who do that. The fact that it fixes a potential workaround to the SWF thing is a bonus.

@TAG So a person who just got the game yesterday who only wanted to play with their friends is going up against someone who has 2k hours, and you don't see it as a problem?

I want balance for both. I don't wanna play against a rank 20 killer just as much as I don't want my new friend to play against a rank 1 killer.

@Bravo0413 SWF not being balanced is subjective at this point.

  • @TAG That's not a solution to a broken system.

Deranking being encouraged isn't a solution. Killing yourself on hook will never be a reason to punish people, when they barely do it for people who dc.

Making it equally balanced for both the newbie Killer AND Survivor experience is the solution.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/711944#Comment_711944

No, but a sharp drop in rank that is far, far faster than what would be considered normal that could only really be done if someone is deliberately screwing over their own team certainly could be.

    @TAG keyword "Could".

    Currently it isn't punishable.

  • @TAG Killing yourself on hook isn't punishable.

They are still allowed to. Now they have to do so at their own peril.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/711843#Comment_711843

A Rank 9 Killer going up against a Rank 4 Survivor and 3 Rank 20s sounds no better than a Rank 4 Killer going up against a Rank 4 Survivor and 3 Rank 20s from a balance perspective. At least with this system, a Rank 9 Killer won't have to worry nearly as much about going up against Survivors way higher rank than them.

@TAG Unless they are deranking which is what this encourages.

To each their own, but I don't agree with your claim that this is somehow more balanced than how it was before. So Ima just leave it at that. Good luck.

Yes but its also their choice to group up with who they want.... if they know (which they should be able to read patchnotes) how matchmaking works, then they know that they're going to be getting a killer who knows what's going on.... which that's what it is mainly about........ survivors going against killers that know what their doing.

But they main point is that survivors have the choice....... and 9x out of 10 the choice was to have the noobie invite the friend or friends who have 100s or 1000s of hours in the game to their lobby so they can "learn".

@Bravo0413 Killers already knew they were going up against SWF, so how is that different?

    Just because it's a choice doesn't mean it's a balanced system.

(Going to throw in the same example used before) You have 3 rank 20 survivors 1 rank 4 survivor, game gives you a rank 1 killer....

Why not... You have 3 rank 20 survivors, 1 rank 4 survivor, game gives you a rank 9 killer?

My argument is it should be based on high rank but also make it average if the majority are lower rank.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/711797#Comment_711797

I mean that they should play at their own ranks and work their way up.

@TAG Which most already do, but they also wanna play with their friends.

All I'm saying is they didn't meet in the middle with this change.

  • @Bravo0413 said:

Survivors dont get bullied all the time xD ... this has been pointed out before, as a survivor you have the choice to play with who ever you want or play alone.... you can KYF as well to learn the game before going in.... KYF imo isnt taken advantage enough by players and that's unfortunate on their part but to each their own.

@Bravo0413 My point is, it should not be about "Who gets bullied more than who"... it should be about balance. Having 3 rank 20s and a rank 4 , and a rank 1 killer isn't balanced IMO.

You are looking at it from the lense of "killers get bullied more than survivors"... when "being bullied" in this game has become a word that just gets thrown around, when it has an actual meaning in the real world.

    @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/711050#Comment_711050

If Survivors want to learn, have them learn by working their way from the ground up. Then they will get closer to your level.

@TAG How exactly is this making them learn from the ground up though? Lol

Most survivors (As stated before) learn from trial/error even when you have a friend telling you about how "horrible Shelter Woods is for survivors..." most people forget things.

What this change does is just flip the thing they were trying to avoid for killers, just now onto newbie survivors.

  • @Bravo0413 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/711050#Comment_711050

It was based on average from what the patchnotes state.... and this grouping to bully has been going on for years, it's not just a "hypothetical scenario".

@Bravo0413 The reason I quoted it is because it doesn't happen in every match where a SWF group is present.

And as I said before... Survivors get bullied all the time too. Let's not pretend like this only happens on one side... (with many killers purposely deranking so that they can bully/camp inexperienced survivors) IF that is the basis of the change.

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/709404#Comment_709404

While I do understand how that would be frustrating for a new player, this is something that is consistent with others games. If I were to play Overwatch with my friends who play it all the time, the game is going to pair me with players of their skill level, not mine.

Unfortunately the way it previously worked could be (and was, frequently) abused to pick on new killers. The lowest ranked survivor would host the group to intentionally get paired against an new killer so they could bully them. Both situations are pretty much the same; they both end in a new player having a bad time. The difference is that you have the choice to play with your new friend while you're rank 1, and you also have the ability to protect them. You can help them survive and teach them things as they play. A new killer is alone- they don't have anyone to help them out when they mess up or tell them what they should be doing.

@Peanits I disagree that High Rank survivors should be in charge or protecting/teaching newbie survivors. Both Newbie survivors AND killers are capable of learning at the same pace. When I was learning Survivor most of it I learned from trial/error, not from friends teaching me. When I was learning killer, I learned by the things I learned from playing as a survivor (to think like they do) and from watching others play killer on stream.

If you have the majority as low ranks and 1 as a red rank...and end up with a rank 1 killer. Are you seriously saying that it is not any more unfair than it was previously?

It's sad that it took one "hypothetical" situation (The survivors who want to bully) for this to screw new survivors who just want to play with their friends without bullying. I mean, if you're going based on "possible scenarios" let's add the killers who purposely derank to only face new/inexperienced survivors.

At the very least you could have made the matches average the rank if most are low ranks.

About time. Survivors are gonna have to suck it up like we did for so long. If your friends care enough to play the game in a team, they might want to think about getting good at it first. THEN you can come with legitimate complaints.

@danielmaster87 you’re the epitome of biased in this game.

I never liked the old system but I don’t think the new one is fair either. All I’m asking is to meet in the middle. You on the other hand... well you’re just happy that now the other side has it “bad”.

  • @vampire_toothy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/710283#Comment_710283

My post earlier on actually explains how the two perks are extremely similar, meaning that you can compare the two perks very easily as they're both endgame perks that perform the same exact thing but for different roles.

You also forgot that in the hatch closing scenario, the killer has killed 3 other survivors in order for the hatch to be opened, found it and then closed it in order to activate the perk in that specific instance. Which mind you, if the survivor had adrenaline in that same scenario then they were just rewarded for failing twice in the sense of completing the gens and finding the hatch.

If you have a problem with one of the perks, you have a problem with both of them. This is why I do not run either one of them as they both feel terrible to go against.

@vampire_toothy I have 0 issues with No Ed. In fact I use it myself sometimes.

I just don’t agree that they are “very” similar considering survivors have to make sure they have 99% of their objective completed.

I've had this happen to survivors I was playing against... I felt bad so after I realized it I went much easier. I still got my 4k but let them get points...

When this happens as a survivor and you're the only one left it a wrap. Killer finds hatch, closes it and you're done. I normally just try and find totems or chests so that I can at least get some more points.

@slingshotsurvivor You know that’s awesome that you do this. Not saying anyone has to feel bad for somebody else, but you know even if it’s let them get more points I think that’s cool that you let them do that.

I usually just close the hatch for points and let them have the gate. Unless I really wanted to pip up which in most instances I do anyway.

  • @ABannedCat said:

No, this change is perfectly fine. If you as newbie queue with high ranked friends, you know whats coming to you. However the poor low rank killer than gets matches with high rank survivors did not agree with that. The old system was fun for survivors at the expense of killers.

@ABannedCat So with this mentality the same could be said about how it is now... “If you’re a newbie killer you know what’s coming to you”... the old system was bad but the new one isn’t better.

  • Add the hatch spawning next to one of the gates lol

  • @Tizzle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/710231#Comment_710231

Doubtful any Killers think 3 R20 and a R1 Survivor going up against a R1 Killer is unfair here.

It's gone from one side of the spectrum to the complete opposite but somehow it's perfectly fine for Killers now, go figure.

They'll just to tell you to go play solo queue.

Averaging the Ranks was the best solution before.

@Tizzle I just think it should have averaged if there is only one high rank. I can understand if there were 3 or even 2.

  • So normally for something to proc, YOU have to do something in order to get it to proc right?

When did a killer do anything to proc NO ED?

Idc if some of you have think it’s unbalanced/balanced but for gods sake stop comparing this perk to Adrenaline. It’s not.

The only instance I can see where Adren can become similar to No Ed is when the hatch is closed, but even then all you had to do was put your foot down on a door to close it.

  • I would love to see longer ponytails in general... Kate has long blonde locks but you don’t get that from her ponytail version.

I would love to see it longer as well and even Meg’s ponytails as well.

    Something like this:

    09FD8682-78DA-4512-A3F5-66EF3FA8A1C6.jpeg

  • So they helped newbie killers but screwed newbie survivors?

imagine you have 2 friends at rank 16, a rank 17 random but because you’re Rank 3 , you get a rank 1 killer.

It’s like we have one step forward and 2 backwards.

  • If you’re that desperate to use a mori, then hook/camp/mori.... what every other desperate killer does.

Also, don’t complain about getting “gen rushed” when you bring something that ends the match sooner.

  • Because it's a PvP setting and as with most there is bound to be some people that get annoyed.

  • This Isn’t necessary at all.

There are tools which already slow you down if you’re injured that coupled with the fact that being injured is very risky.

  • It’s really not that hard to find a totem lol

Id rather not waste a perk slot.

  • I’ve never seen an issue with BL’s passive effect.

  • Because every match lasts 2:30.

    Thats what is ridiculous.

I see A LOT of people basing their statements based on how bad they did and yet so many of them have longer matches following that “short match”.

Not sure every match suffers because of gens getting done too quick, and if they are 99% of the time the killer has chosen to tunnel one survivor or not bother with the gens.

  • I'd like to think that the devs aren't that "terrible" considering they have also fixed many bugs along the way, but no one bothers to mention/talk about that.

  • @MemberBerry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/704377#Comment_704377

Okay, let me repeat myself. There was a gen at 85% around the said broken loop, I had to protect it, so they had a massive advantage. Also, spreading out gens isn't any sort of outplaying if you always force the killer to give up every chase because you and your swf buddy are always genrushing together.

@MemberBerry If you have an issue with a gen (last one) being at 85% and you have PGTW, but you choose to protect it because of a "broken loop" then you've accepted that the other gens might get done. How is this exactly survivor's fault?

You made the choice to stick around instead of possibly downing a survivor and using your pop on that gen.

Also, actually spreading out gens IS a legit strategy (my friends and I do it all the time), it counters a 3-gen strat, so... "giving up every chase" isn't a strategy at all, but it also isn't what I said. I said SOMETIMES you have to drop THE chase.

  • @MemberBerry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/704301#Comment_704301

How exactly did they "outplay me"? They just held m1 together, forcing me to give up searching for hiding survivors because discordance was constantly active, and they hugged the most broken loop in the map.

    @MemberBerry Lol what?

You said it yourself they sealed the portals and were smart about where to fix gens.

So when you down someone you don’t outplay because technically you held M1 too? Kinda sense a double-standard here.

You chose to chase at the strongest loop in the map but complained about it afterwards. Sorry but sometimes you have to stop chasing and go find someone else.

  • @MemberBerry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/704211#Comment_704211

Name me one thing that I, as Demogorgon, could've done there? All of my portals were being constantly destroyed before I could apply any pressure to them, I had no time to search for people because discordance was active 80% of the match. I had 1 gen left, 1 at the storehouse, 1 outside of it and 1 on the other side of the map, with the storehouse one at 85% progress. The BS window was open, so they could just hop in and out without worrying 1 bit. I couldn't walk 2 feet away without them swarming the storehouse gen like raccoons.

And please be smart and rational and don't just slap a "pressure harder" and be done with it.

@MemberBerry It's simple. You can't win every. single. match.

Survivors did a good job in keeping the last 3 gens separate and outplayed you by sealing your portals. So, at that point you do your best, because more than likely you've already lost the match.

  • @Cetren said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/704190#Comment_704190

This is exactly the problem though. Demogorgan is fun to play against, but not so fun to play as.

As soon as he teleports survivors are on your portals because of the global sound cue, then you get into a chase, except you can hardly mind game because they can hear you step stomping around any walls, making it easy to maximize loops. His shred attack can cover ground, but doesn't instantly down survivors like a chainsaw, and has even less control, meaning the only time you'll ever get a hit is when the survivor has nowhere to go but in a straight line, which anyone whose played against a looper knows, is hardly ever the case. Playing as the demogorgan feels frustrating and unintuitive.

I disagree with this. He is actually a lot of fun to play as.

The problem is you need to set your portals in less obvious places not let everyone know where they are. He gets undetectable as soon as he ports so it isn't like they know exactly where you are coming from. His shred isn't meant to insta down... why would it?

  • I mean I think that anyone who plays killer at least casually knows that sometimes you just try your best because the match is pretty much over, same with survivors accepting match is over when the killer has already hooked 3 people and no gens have been touched.

I think the whole “The game is survivor sided” is dumb and clearly from someone who is just inexperienced.

  • So apparently survivors are supposed to stop doing gens when killer is around. I didn't know that.

Maybe give survivors a reason to detach themselves from the gens (Like Idk go chase them off the gen) and then you'll add this thing called map pressure.

    SOME. Some is not all.

Again, either they DC, and punishments make them be able to play less games to not being able to play at all, thus either they stop ruining games or they lose access to the game and thus, CAN'T ruin games anymore.

Again, the idea is to not give any reasons to DC in the first place, and to stop players who still do it anyways. Not give more reasons to DC.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/702202#Comment_702202

How is it a bad way to look at it?

Maybe it's a subjective thing, but I'd rather DCs be an event that happen very rarely and the times it does, knowing the person is going to be punished accordingly, than it happening once every other game which can happen simply because someone is triggered that they're losing and so they leave the match with little to no punishment at all.

You are right that everyone usually suffers from players DCing, but I'd argue it's usually the killer who actually suffers the most than even the survivors. Survivors if they wish can just go die and move onto the next match. Killers have to stay in the match until the bitter end and they are losing both of their addons.

A player DCing doesn't give depip immunity for the killer, either. I've had three survivors DC on me with the fourth getting the hatch:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/818/03AWYXCN1OBR.png

Imagine if I had used any actual good addons and/or offerings here. This match lasted a whole 45 seconds, by the way. The person with the flashlight pulled the plug, thus keeping their flashlight. I literally came out of this game with a net negative and had my rank been higher, it would have been a depip (I barely black pipped).

This kind of situation should almost never happen, but it happens almost daily and that can be literally just because the survivors simply don't like the killer you're playing. And that's because there's no punishment for it unless you do it A LOT.

    @Sairek

Not giving reasons to DC would mean nerfing some killers and not allowing certain builds, removing moris which isn’t fair for killers.

Like I said some people DC simply for not liking the killer they are going up against or the map. What incentive would you give that will make them choose THAT over not having fun?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/702128#Comment_702128

It's a good thing 3-blink Nurse won't exist soon, then.

I know it's not fair, but you can't make an unfair situation fair without adding incentive to DC, which is the opposite of what you want. At worse, it encourages DCing because "who cares if I do it then?". At worst, people do it on purpose to exploit and gain an advantage.

For example, people already DC so someone gets a quick hatch escape, and therefore denying the killer 2 potential kills and that can even result in a depip for the killer. So it's not something that will become a thing. It already is a thing. If DCing didn't let people get hatch escapes, they wouldn't DC to give hatch because obviously if it doesn't work, there's no incentive to do it.

    @Sairek

Some people don’t care about incentives... that’s why they are DCing.

They don’t care about how much they are screwing their team over. I don’t know expect the killer to understand but I also don’t think not treating the match as a 3v1 is the right way to go. In fact, if I play killer and the rest DC I don’t blame them for doing it.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/702095#Comment_702095

I never said they did. Thus why I said proper punishments need to be introduced.

Things like a long cooldown time after disconnecting from a match, or losing access to the game entirely for days like they're supposed to after DCing too much, would be punishments that would prevent a majority of players from disconnecting. The other minority would sooner or later learn not to do it and stop doing it, or will simply not be able to play the game, fixing the problem for players either way.

People already DC and forfeit all of the BP and 2 pips just to deny a killer 700 blood points or so. Do you really think people wouldn't abuse the ability to instantly end a match and get a "redo", wasting everyone's time -- especially the killer's, just because the killer got a good start? Do you know how many people DC on their first down when 5 gens are still up already? Imagine giving survivors the ability to just void a match that didn't start well for them or to turn a bad situation into a better one in their favor for leaving.

It's not fair to punish the killer because the survivor DCed. That only encourages people to DC more. Punish the survivor who DCs constantly for being an entitled dick until they either stop being a dick or they reap what they have sowed and are not allowed to play the game anymore and ruin people's games both survivor and killer alike.

    @Sairek I’m all for punishments for DC’ers.

But I am also for fair play and getting stuck with a 3blink Nurse with Noed and a Mori while it is technically not the rest of the team’s fault isn’t fun.

I would rather the match get cancelled and the survivor get a punishment. That way it’s fair for both sides.

  • Because you play the “guessing” game a lot with her. Which to some people it’s unfun.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

"Oh I'm about to die on death hook"

    <DC>

Yay, everyone gets free boost to gen repair speed!

The solution isn't to reward everyone else when someone DCs or AFKs. The solution is to provide incentives and proper punishments so people don't DC or AFK in the first place, where those who continue to do so in a serial fashion, being not welcome to play the game anymore.

@Sairek People who DC normally don’t care about points nor the punishment they will receive.

I think at the very least if the DC happens before a gen gets done, it needs the same exact treatment as if the DC had happened pre-match.

Either cancel the match alltogether or knock off a gen because technically it is a 3 v 1 at that point.

  • They have deranked more than likely because of queue times.

  • Ruin isn't suppose to stop gens only slow them down.

A secondary objective only helps those bad killers who spend too much time tunneling.

And tell us what happens when Freddy hits the person you have unhooked, kind sir

    ;3

@Raccoon They get borrowed time. In addition have Adrenaline which wakes them up immediately.

  • This is no different than Insidious.... just you know do what survivors have been known to do since the beginning of time.... Adapt.

You can still use BT against Freddy, you just now have two conditions to meet: don’t be asleep and have someone else take the hit while the sweater boy camps you can totally grab the person off the hook.

  • Nah, not really.

I’ll just wait for someone else to take the hit, while I am fully awake to unhook.

Freddies can keep camping tho. ;)

  • It is a really good perk. Especially in solo survivor where sometimes you might get a heal and others you might not.

This is a nice backup to have and very useful for those who don’t like bringing a medkit.

By typical delay I'm referring to hits that may connect at an average ping of 90 but not at a ping of 0 aka what devs probably use to calculate "appropriate" lengths of loops, vault durations etc.

When vaulting a pallet or window your character model's hitbox basically gets transfered from point A to point B to my understanding. However even at an "ok" ping of less than 100 this character hitbox may be transfered too slowly so even if you run a loop "correctly" the killer's hit will still connect at times due to the "typical" delay caused by pings that are within said "ok range".

The devs will probably have to adjust the vault animations at some point especially when the dedicated servers drop otherwise we'll see even crazier bs hits than what we're used to.

    @Yamaoka

So basically what is happening is the character moves but there is a delay on the invisible hit box?

The weird thing is sometimes weird hits happen even on good ping. I’ve seen it on killer stuns too... you throw a pallet down and they don’t get hit, they delay touch the pallet and get stunned seconds after...

Yeah not sure how dedicated servers did this time around but I heard they were pretty bad lol

  • @Yamaoka said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/699531#Comment_699531

OP generally complains about getting hit during the pallet slide animation. That's a legit hit in my book unless your feet clearly touched the ground on the other side of the pallet.

As for bs hits I think the main problem is the devs calculate every killer and survivor movement without any sort of "normal" delay. It's not an offline game yet everything is calculated like people were playing with 0 pings.

Perhaps they have to increase the speed of the "second half of vault animations" to make up for the typical delay so if you get hit it's definitely during the first half of the vault animation. What do you think?

    @Yamaoka

No I understand getting hit while sliding/vaulting... that’s why I explained my own issue with it when you’re already on the other side.

Sometimes I wish they allowed us to see hitboxes just to see all the invisible parts that come into play when we get hit.

What do you mean by typical delay?
