Like i said, which side lost the most players in the past year? Killers. Sure they complained but when it wasn't enough, they quit. Dead Hard was way too OP. It's perfect now and I'd you're all going to complain and quit because killers finally got some love, then go right ahead. But the devs aren't going to favor one side like they've been doing for survivors for years. Find new strategies, perks, builds or don't. Your choice. But the devs won't change things that work as intended. And DH now works as intended, not some crutch for people who were only skilled because they could gain distance from a dodge action. So do what you want. I can already tell you it won't change anything.
This is what I'm saying, the perk was overpowered so the community complained and it got nerfed. It took a while, but when a player base puts pressure on the developers they can typically make changes.
And again, killers have been getting consistent buffs for a long time. This is just the most drastic change. They haven't been silent this whole time waiting for the devs to do something. Ghostface and Legion very recently got improvements.
Solo survivor is a nightmare right now, because the devs want to increase kill rates at their expense, so survivors will complain until solo queue gets buffed, that's just what happens.

The thing is that the devs can't make everyone happy. But they can focus on balancing the game, which they did their best in the latest patch. People will complain no matter what, and that's just it. Survivors had always been complaining to begin with. Nerf this killer, that killer perk is too hard, this survivor perk was nerfed 5% and now it's useless, ect. Killer mains just decided to leave the game because it felt like survivors had all the say in every single change. Of course they will complain more now that killers got something for being mainly silent for so long. But hopefully it brings back killer mains which this game desperately needs. I'm glad the devs didn't give into all the complaint, but rather looked at where they were losing players and for what reasons like sending out surveys. I believe most of these decisions were made on those surveys, along with looking at all other data and feedback. So, let them complain. It won't change the outcome.
I've heard many, many, killer complaints while I've been playing this game. Why do you think dead hard was nerfed? It's important for the community to give feedback on things they don't like about the game, and things they appreciate. Also, killers have been getting buffs for a while now, this is just the latest and most drastic change. If survivors complain enough, it absolutely will make a difference, and I hope it does.

They did explicitly state in the patch notes that the objective of this patch was to raise kill rates. With such a big change it's inevitable that there will also need to be followup tweaks to fine-tune the 'gist' of what they're going for, but the motive is pretty clear.
Yep, so blaming it solely on "survivors can't loop without dead hard" is an argument in bad faith.

No, DH got nerfed and boosted survs are going down in 20s instead of 40s. It's that simple.
Or perhaps it's because killers got buffed to levels they shouldn't have? The argument could go either way. The fact is, because they made all these changes at once, we can't know the reason.

You can't really adress stuff like tunneling/camping when you have really weak killers that depend on that.
It really sucks, indeed, but I feel like this change is for a better future.
I don't see this as a step in the right direction though, to make the experience of solo survivor so miserable, just to increase kill rates is a bad decision in my opinion.
The experience of killer was quite punishing, it's true, but so was solo (arguably more so) and now killer has been buffed the kill rates will in increase, but not against swf. The losers in all of this are solo survivors who have needed some love for a long time.
-
I don't agree with this at all, without addressing tunnelling they should not have buffed killers so strongly. They have indirectly buffed tunneling and camping in this patch, and that isn't fun or exciting in the slightest.

I mean, it is but whatever
Killer was never a useless role, so it's not hypocrisy. If you think killer was underpowered compared to swf I'd be more inclined to agree with you, but it was always viable. Solo survivor has been the weakest role for a while.

Literally this. I'm surprised nobody is talking about how much killers over rely on gen regression perks.

I have gone against ISC Doctor only once before, but it was a real blast !
I generally like going against Doctor, I think he has fun mechanics, and ISC Doctors are rare enough to be exotic rather than frustrating. I get why people might not like it, but it's so funny to me when gens are exploding left and right. It's also good practice !
So all in all, regardless of if it's viable or powerful, I really enjoy going against ISC ! :D
As for other meme builds, any backpack build with Mad Grit/Iron Grasp is fun in my opinion !
Yesss, mad grit is so funny. Getting chased while the killer swings like a mad man
-
I think iron will would have been more fun if it was reworked like instead of just altering the volume of grunts of pain it completely silences you while crouched or hiding in a locker. Something a bit different would have been nice. That way there's a trade off, you're sacrificing the distance you could have made leaving the loop for the chance to lose the killer completely.
The ds nerf was too much though, I'll agree with you there.
-
I tend to agree with you, but I'm not sure that this is the general consensus. I think ds should deactivate in endgame because if you get downed that's on you, but I don't think off the record should deactivate.

I guess this patch has got everyone a little heated. He shouldn't have called you salty either, there's no reason we can't have a civil discussion.
-
This arguing and name calling isn't helping anything. I agree with you that the patch went too far towards the killer side, but if someone shares their personal experience there's no reason to attack them for it.

He shouldn't have called you a liar, but he's not wrong, most of us do not have that kind of escape rate at the moment and we can't all be potatoes.

Regarding tunneling and camping, i propose a player ban, camping and tunneling is harassing behavior, since when do we let stalkers go unpunished?
Other games severely punish tunnel/camp because it's ultra toxic behavior and the devs say camp/tunnel is indeed a form of harassment. Here, nothing, no sanction, the big stalker dummies are rewarded with 4 kills even though they don't even know how to play.
After another problem you have fairplay killers who camp a cheater (deserved camp for the cheater) this killer must not be sanctioned if he has camped a cheater.
I don't think banning players for camping and tunneling is the solution, sometimes it is necessary. The problem is that the game itself is built around these strategies, it shouldn't be so easy to get away with and leaving the hook should be rewarded more than it is.

As killer main, I approve this message 🙏 The only solo survivors that escaped my matches today have done so through hatch. I had fun with easy chill matches 🙃
You see how this is a bad thing, right? If you are guaranteed a win, even when the game is "chill and easy", doesn't that show you something is wrong?

@Adaez said:
The problem is not the killers getting buffed,is the lack of inormation soloq has.
And lets be honest, there will be never anything you can do when you get a potato survivor in soloq.
No matter how strong or weak killer is,you will always be a disatvantage in soloq because of this, you cant fix the way your teammates play.
I agree that solo queue needs buffs but that is not the only problem with this patch. The bloodlust buff, gen speed increase and faster pallet breaking are all band aid fixes that should have never been implemented. Instead they should have attempted to buff M1 killers to make their playstyles more rewarding and of course they should have nerfed dead hard.
The problem now is that killers can simply brute force their way to a win easily without it requiring any semblance of skill.

Tunneling and camping was a thing even before the update. Camping yeah, I understand there is nothing changed, but tunneling is way stronger? How?
I'm really sorry, but if you looped a huntress for 2 gens, and she got 4k out of camping someone... Means that you don't know a basic easy tactic against camping.=) Just do gens and get out. Thats it. Let this huntress get her 1 kill, and she lost anyway. Next time she will change her way of playing this game.
And did you not read when I said thanks to slower gen times and certain perks it's impossible to get the gens done fast enough, also why should a camping killer be allowed to ruin that person's gaming experience? It's not fun, and games are supposed to be fun.
-
It's not the perks that are the problem, the problem is that tunnelling is way, way stronger now. I just had a game against a huntress in which I looped her for the first 2 gens. Then she found a slightly weaker survivor and camped and tunnelled him to death and because of the slower gen times it was already over. If a killer chooses to play this way they are almost guaranteed a 4k in solo queue.

That's very untrue.
First off, DH lasts for 500 milliseconds (half of 1 second).
Secondly, you need to actually be hit by the attack during the animation for the Endurance to matter.
Some people have been saying the animation lasts longer than the actual endurance which could be what is causing the confusion.
-
I've played against it a couple times, I don't find it too bad, it's not like it happens every game so it can be fun to have a little something different. My favourite meme build to go against has to be scratched mirror myers though (if that counts as one) every time, those are always my favourite games and now spine chill is nerfed they'll be even more fun.
-
I faced her last night and it actually felt like one of the more balanced games of the night! I think we all had fun that game, shocking!

Yeah, it's difficult to know whether the perk is working or not with the lack of information. Still a pretty decent gen regress perk tho.
I got jumpscared when a gen blew with it earlier and missed a skill check so it's still a decent info perk if you're playing against bad survivors like me!

Wow...the hypocrisy of a survivor saying that
Can we not turn the thread into an us vs them? They have a right to comment about how their survivor experience feels without it being hypocrisy.
-
I was having a lot of luck with prove, built to last, streetwise and a purple toolbox and then whatever forth perk I fancied. It does make the first gen pop disgustingly fast, but I figure with solo the way it is right now there's nothing wrong with a head start.

Behavior will adjust its ... behavior. If I'm cautious and play proper hide and seek, things are fine except against the usual busted killers. When I try to showboat and be obnoxious, I get hammered.
I get it, it was fun to bully killers. It was fun to do outlandish dumb things. Now you kinda have to respect them for a change.
I don't think the fact that you used to bully inexperienced killers is something to brag about.

I am usually a killer main, havent tried to play one yet after the update.
However i did try some survivor solo q.
Oh my god, that was the worst experience i ever had in a game.
It was bad before but now its just one miserable round after another.
I am honestly considering streaming this. The channel of solo q misery.
Just to highlight how bad it really is right now. Not that anyone you watch that kind of gameplay anyway.
Yeah, at least before the update you could play killer and even if you didn't win you could have some fun and get some bp if you were semi-decent. This is not the case with the current state of solo queue.
It's not fun, and if you're lucky you'll make it out with 20k bp.

I know it won’t fix everything but while they work out what they want to do with solo. Why can’t they just add base-kit Kindred (doesn’t show killer’s aura though).
Slightly off-topic, but everyone always makes the argument that the killer's aura shouldn't be shown if kindred becomes basekit? Why not? This is information that swf would have, and deincentives camping because everyone can see it's happening.

I was excited about the changes today.
My first game, I went up against the bugged Oni (you think they'd fix him with a new skin release). He had one-shot all game and camped hooks. Still ran the new gen regression perks. Game did not seem fair at all.
Second game, played against a huntress, she wasn't skilled, but the changes allowed her to get a 4k. Again, the gen regression along with extra time felt like doing gens was near impossible. Also, the reduction in attack, and damage sprint meant there was no distance to be gained. It's interesting watching how fast the killers smash stuff with Alert though.
Overall it's extremely demoralising to play solo survivor, and I'm not going to play solo-q again. Playing solo-q without communication and with the perk changes just feels unfair which is unenjoyable.
I guess I'll go back to playing killer, it will be a hell of a lot easier to tunnel and camp now. :)
Yup, it really is unenjoyable. It seems like they want killers to simply be able to brute force a win without any skillful plays or mindgames. Break the pallets super fast, but if you don't here's some bloodlust to end the chase quicker. Don't want to pressure gens? Well we'll just make them take longer. Instead of balancing so that M1 killers stood more of a chance they just slapped a band aid fix over everything, classic.
-
Help.
-
Don't do that to me Demo, I thought my favourite perk was gonna get the axe! But seriously, don't take my zoomies please bhvr ❤
-
Even when I get a good team, with the gen regression perk meta and camping and tunnelling every game on solo has been a loss. I feel like killers who were complaining about the game thought they were going against high mmr swf every game, solo is incredibly punishing and unfun at the moment.

This is something that I find so odd. When I play survivor, I have to wait for several minutes and when I play as killer, I get instant queues. But I am getting 100 percent bonus for playing survivor, why?
It could be your region? If the queue incentives are global that could explain it. My survivor queues are almost instant.

Based on this argument the killer buffs were needed as kill rates were below 50%, right?
Pretty sure they were over 50% for most killers except nurse, but I'd have to check that. Regardless, I'm not sure broad statistics like that are really that relevant as they don't give any information as to why people are winning/losing.

Because by default of the nature of the game, the survivors should never have more power over the killer.
One survivor shouldn't have more power than the killer, but four survivors should be able to get a balanced game experience.
That being said, I can sympathise with some issues on the killer side, I totally understand that some killer players felt that gens absolutely flew by, and many absolutely hated dead hard so those two things deserved changes.
What I'm saying here is that some of the slowdown perk buffs, the bloodlust changes, hit recovery speed, buffs to camping and tunnelling (through the nerfs to second chance perks) are absolutely huge changes and perhaps too much, particularly in one patch.
-
@RavenBirb said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/335093/playing-survivor-has-been-rough
now you know how killer felt before this update
Even if this were true, why should solo survivor suffer just as you say killers have? Both sides need to be fun and viable, that is the bare minimum for a game.
-
Survivor was never as overpowered as the killer mains on this forum like to pretend. Dead Hard needed a nerf and gen speeds needed a small adjustment. Swf is a problem and remains a problem, so this patch has done nothing but hurt solo survivor.
-
I'd give it after a DC, or if I find the survivor cute, but don't feel pressured to give hatch. If you're not slugging for the 4k they have the opportunity to find it anyway.
-
I feel like the only thing that's actually toxic is when you know the opponent you're facing is obviously new and you go out of your way to teabag them at every pallet or smack them on hook at every opportunity. I feel bad when babies get bullied, they're too cute 💔
Also, sending hate messages to someone after a bad game, that's toxic.
-
The problem is that the new patch won't change anything for SWF, any boosted kill rates will disproportionately affect solo survivors who are arguably the weakest role in the game. 5 sec bt is nothing to killers who already wait out current bt, and now that ds has been nerfed it's only going to make tunnelling stronger.
Not every solo surv will quit, but I wouldn't surprised if quite a few do decide to or switch to killer. It's just a painful experience playing solo sometimes.
-
Yeah, it's pretty bad in solo at the moment, and only going to get worse. I played last night and there was someone getting camped or tunnelled every single game, someone disconnecting or suiciding on first hook is pretty common too. It makes it seem impossible to get a win.
If you run the meta you have an easier time getting wins but that's getting gutted soon. Bhvr needs to give some love to solo survivor soon, it's getting ridiculous.
-
I agree that it's not toxic and it's not something to blame the killer for, but I wouldn't say that camping and tunnelling are healthy for the game. I think they actively discourage people from playing. It's not the killer's fault that sometimes it's the most efficient tactic though.
-
I don't know why the devs have to make everything so complicated! Why do survivor perks now have to have downsides? Why can't a perk just be a perk? If they want to nerf medkits they should just nerf medkits, why would I want to run a perk that's going to eat my item that I spent bp on.
-

Ok once again if you could read I said I know these things exist (yeah I didn't mention map) but why do I need to bring 2 perks and 1 item just to barely learn where the totems are? If you can't read it would be good to probably try not to respond to comments.
You asked if there were ways to learn where they are and they answered. Take maps into a few games until you're comfortable with where totems usually are and then you won't have to do it again.
The point of totems is that they're supposed to be difficult to find, so you're not going to get an easy answer to your question without sacrificing part of your build.
-
It's a shame, because killers are most powerful at low/mid mmr and these new changes will mostly effect newer players.
Bhvr will get their kill rates up, sure, but it will be on solo queue and new survivors. High mmr swfs will adapt to the changes very quickly.
-
Leave my demo pup alone, he's a good boy
-
Self care really didn't need a nerf, and CoH needs a full rework. Maybe if CoH was more like we'll make it, where you get 100% increased speed being healed by someone else in the radius that would be better. I feel like self-healing for the entire team is kinda broken.
-
Unless they address the power imbalance between swf and solo queue this game will never be balanced.
