Honestly, most of the time, it's better for your team to just leave rather than go for a endgame save and let the killer get an extra down.
If I can convince my solo teammates to go in for the save I'll usually try to help. Most of the time though it's just better to take what you can get.
A punishment for it would be way too far.

Escaping is an enormous chunk of a survivor's BP score, making a death feel like a loss, even if you played really damn well.
Also, it's really bad that the feel-good mini-objectives of BBQ and WGLF are gone.
I totally agree with you on WGLF and BBQ, I miss getting my stacks so much </3

The only way to end tunnelling would be to make it almost impossible to doWhy?
Once again, I ask: If Survivors can do gens as efficiently as possible; Why should Killers be punished for doing the same?
The only reply I ever see is 'because it's not fun to be knocked out fast/early'. And that's not a valid reason. It's like people don't understand that the Killer's goal is to knock people out of the match.
Survivors need to stop thinking the game, or Killers, owe them some arbitrary amount of game time, or arbitrary 'fun' quota, before they can be killed.
Bottom line is: If Survivors can try their hardest to win; So can Killers. And Survivors need to get out of this mindset that losing 'too fast' is some flaw. It's a PvP game, and no one is going to want to play Killer if the game starts taking away control, or forcing sub-optimal plays, for their opponent's 'fun'.
Lord knows I'd uninstall and never look back if I lost because the game 'punished' me for 'tunneling' someone just because I found them most frequently and thus could not kill someone and thus could not slow down gen speeds.
I'm not saying punish tunnelling, I'm saying make it an ineffective strategy completely, as in make it more difficult to do. If people want to tunnel they should have to waste time trying to find that specific survivor. I also said that killers should be offered a buff which balances this out
Killers might not have to care about the fun of the other people in their games, but the devs should. If something isn't fun, it shouldn't be in a game, we don't play this as our job.
-
Yes, it makes you incapacitated so you can't perform many actions besides jumping in a locker or unhooking.
I wish it did literally anything besides incapacitated. I want to play the game and do something, not just run around aimlessly.

Funny enough, I now send GGs to my fellow Xbox players....but only when I lose (as long as they weren't jerks or whatnot about it) PRECISELY for this reason. I'm always worried they're going to take it the wrong way if I were to send it when I beat them.
YES! I do this as well. I also do this to try and throw some positivity in there amongst all the salt they must get. I mostly play survivor and even I had to turn my messages off because of toxicity.

This achievment was the bane of my existence for the longest time and there really is no easy way out. Many said already that the only counter on the survivors side is to jump into a locker and I agree on that, but once you killed off 2 survivors, the last ones are just doing it to spite you, often jumping in and out of lockers fast. There is no way that they will make it out of the game alive, but they prefer to waste everyones time, instead of losing this one game with dignity. If more players weren't so deadset on spiting the killer, we probably would have less Myers players trying to get this achievment for the 20th time, but thats hard to prove without some data.
Whatever, tings are as they are, just try again and try to go for the hard to catch and clever survivors first. Don't kill of the obivous baby survivor first, just because they kept running around like a headless chicken, try to keep them for last, chances are they they don't know how do counter your special Mori via lockers. Also, some survivors are sympathetic and give themselves up. This is a cointoss: they might genuenly want to give you the achievment, but also don't want to be stuck in a lost game longer then needed. You could keep them alive, just like the baby survivors, and try to hunt for the tough survivors first, but that could still be a futile attempt.
This achievment is one of the really true "achievments" this game hast to offer, but its probably also the most frustrating and infuriating one. Good luck on your quest!
Yes this is true, some people would literally die in a locker than risk a killer getting the achievement.
When I'm on survivor, I'm not going to throw the game to give it to the killer but I'm not going to be spiteful about it when the game is basically already over.
To OP, may I suggest some stealthy perks to mask the terror radius and a map offering to a map with fewer lockers.
-
I really like Inner Healing, but I feel bad bringing it now that boons are a thing. There's just something so satisfying about hopping in a locker and poof, healed.
-
Nurse is overpowered, but it's mostly perks and addons that make her that way. Making her blinks special attacks would go a long way.
Another problem is aura reading perks and map design. If she can see you all the time, it's basically a free hit against a good nurse. Distortion is such a valuable perk against nurse though, I love hearing them open a locker and losing a stack while I'm running away.
-
I agree with you, tunnelling is extremely efficient (too efficient) for what it is. There is no reason not to tunnel.
Increasing gen speeds won't stop people from tunnelling though, it will just make it more rewarding to do, because there won't be the counterplay of "well the killer is tunnelling so I'll just slam gens"
The only way to end tunnelling would be to make it almost impossible to do. For example, if hooks became like pyramids cages and didn't give a directional notification to the killer upon unhook so he didn't know where they had been unhooked.
If this (or something similar) was implemented, gen repair speeds would need to be increased alongside this to balance things out, and I feel like killers should get basekit bbq to keep the game moving for them.
It's boring to tunnel, and it's annoying to be tunnelled. I wish the devs would just do something about it and then give killers some buffs, then we can all have fun.
-
Don't worry, people like that aren't common. Similar things have happened to me too, but they're very few and far between.
Most matches the teammates I get are trying their best even in solo queue, even if they're a little clueless sometimes.

killer players complaining about this lol. I wanna know how much mental gymnastics one has to go through to convince themselves solo queue isn't the worst way to play and wasn't in desperate need of quality of life improvements like this.
It's such a tiny improvement as well, giving almost no extra information. You'll know they're on a gen but won't know which gen, or know they're running but not what they're running to or from.
It definitely doesn't bridge the cap between solo and swf, just a small QoL change. I don't know how anybody could be mad at this.
-
If you think killers are targeting you specifically because you have it in your bio just take it out of your bio.
If you don't expect a free escape and just want a normal game then you don't need it in there anyway.
-
Tombstone Myers has very little counterplay aside from jumping in a locker. Sure, it feels cheap, but I'm not going to allow myself to get killed early/mid game if I can avoid it.
At endgame once I've got some points, I'll let a myers kill me if I think they're going for the achievement. Not everyone is going to let you get a free mori though, and they aren't being bad people by not giving you a free kill.
-
Something for solo queue? Am I dreaming?!
-
This is a lovely post, nice to see some positivity <3
I'd also like to thank all the killers who have messed around in the snowmen with me, I'll always leave a gift for you.
-
Bringing back problematic perks doesn't fix tunnelling as an issue. For one thing, survivors shouldn't have to bring perks to counter flaws in game design. Also, dh and boil over weren't used to counter tunnelling, they were unbalanced perks that could be abused in the hands of knowledgeable survivors.

I had a guy invite me to a party chat and belligerently tell me to slit my wrists lol, am I crying about it? No I'm not. Just ignore them, what comes around goes around, believe in that.
It's honestly baffling how people can say something like that over a game. I hope you reported them.
-
Honestly yeah, remove brown toolboxes, I can't count how many times I've searched a chest hoping for a medkit and found one of those bad boys.
-
Maybe they just wanted to move on to the next match? Sometimes those standoffs when there's two survivors left can really drag on.
-
Everyone has something to moan about, but there are plenty of chill survivors and killers playing the game.
Play however you like, as long as you're playing by the rules. If anyone has a problem with it then that's their problem, but they're entitled to play however they like as well.

No, solo queue needs some love. This isn't about swf.

You don't know how much I wish console had anon mode, I literally had a teammate add me the other day to hurl abuse at me even though we got a 3E. The toxicity in this game is wild.
-
The current meta is more boring than anything else. Eruption's incapacitated status is the perfect example, what else can I do except just stare at the gen while it regresses? Such thrilling gameplay.
It honestly feels like the most boring aspects of the game are becoming longer and longer, gens last forever because of regression and anti-loop killers mean that the best strat is just run from loop to loop.
Add that to the amount of games that someone gets hard tunnelled out off first hook or camped and it makes games feel hopeless.
-
I can't understand why anyone would waste 40 minutes of their life just to trap someone in a video game. The worst part is that if you disconnected you would be stuck with a penalty.
-
It could be a matchmaking issue if you're consistently going against much more experienced teams. In my solo queue games it definitely doesn't feel like I'm having an easy time.
The first down is also always the hardest, since all the pallets are up and the other survivors have nothing else to do but gens. Running corrupt/deadlock should help slow things down a little early game for you so that gens aren't flying too fast.
Try not to give up, killers in this game can turn things around really quickly even if a game is going badly for them.
-
The old self care speed was fine imo, just because something is popular doesn't mean it needs nerfing into the ground.
-
Honestly I wish they'd just give killers bbq as basekit and make the hooked survivor teleport to a random distant hook, unless it's basement. No directional notification for the unhook would also be nice.
As long as killers can tunnel they will tunnel, the only way to stop it would be to make it an unreliable strategy and a time waste. As it stands it's way too effective, especially against new players and solo.

Don't forget the deliverance curse!

I define winning as 3 teammates escaping, whether I die or not. I’d say during peak hours (slightly better matchmaking) my win rate is about 15-20%. Off peak hours its mostly worse, like 10% but then I occasionally get stretches of bad killers which will net a few wins. The game is just horrendous for solo survivors. And killer players just pile on with OP killers, builds, and cheap tactics like camping and tunnelling. They need their 4k to believe they’re good so even if a solo team starts winning they turn up the camping/tunnelling and turn that game around. And of course they will slug the 3rd to find the 4th… Killers are a pretty sad lot mostly.
Yeah, tunnelling accounts for a fair percentage of my losses as well, it's far too strong of a tactic against solo survs. Especially for how easy it can be to do. I wouldn't agree that it's the player's fault though, the responsibility to fix bad game mechanics falls on the devs.
I can't blame killers for taking advantage of it.
-
I'd say I win about 25% of my games, I think it would be higher if I played more selfishly and equipped meta perks. A lot of my problems with solo queue at the moment is less about winning/losing but that it just feels hopeless a lot of the time, especially with the gen kick meta.
-
Every time a new chapter comes out there's multiple bugs, I'm honestly getting so frustrated with it because as paying customers we shouldn't have to put up with it. This is a paid game, not free to play. It's honestly a joke.

Simple answer, they want to win, and with how strong surv can get, if you want to win, you need to play very tryhard. And because of this, and the loose mmr, casuals get caught up in the cross-fire.
This isn't playing the game to win, this is playing with the intention of being as scummy as possible. It's not even try harding as it takes zero effort to camp a hook.

Solo doesn't need buffs. They need better matchmaking, which is why the devs are doing team MMR.
Nah solo absolutely needs buffs. Killer players are always complaining about how strong SWF is, but until solo is buffed to have some of the information SWF gets for free the game can't be balanced properly.
If you buff killers so that they have a shot against sweat squads solo queue will be impossible to play. The only solution is to buff solo queue and then buff killers accordingly.
-
When they buff solo queue we can talk about medkits. I swear most of the time you can't rely on a solo squad to actually heal you. If you hate them that much, bring franklin's.

On one hand it makes sense...
But on the other hand it's most likely BHVR being slow and not realizing that Solo queue is bad
They have to know how bad it is though, the community has been telling them for years. It's so strange they would just ignore the majority of their playerbase though, not exactly good business practice. They should be making it their top priority imo.

It's a 1v4 game. The killer having things and survivors not having things is not an innate problem, because survivors are the 4 player team.
If you want to remove the killer's ability to see survivors before the trial, then items would have to be removed. If you don't want your items to be removed, then the killer seeing what item you bring into trial is fair game.
Yep it's an asymmetrical game and killers are stronger than survivors to compensate, have powers, run faster etc. Again, this is something which is resolved within the game setting, not pre-game.
I'm not sure where you're getting that all items for survivor MUST be removed if killers can't see the survivors before a game. It would be a small but healthy change to allow both sides to enter the game with the same amount of information whereas deleting items would be disastrous for game balance, the two changes aren't equal.

Addons are part of the killer part and the thing they need for the 1v4.
Being able to see survivors in lobby is solely to see what items they bring in. If items are removed, there's no reason to see survivors in lobby.
I see, so you're saying that killers can have things and survivors shouldn't? Very balanced argument.
You're correct though, if survivors didn't have items there would be no free information for killers to gain, but we do have items so I'm not sure your point is relevant.
-
CoH would be a more balanced perk if it wasn't a self-healing perk at all but offered the same effect as we'll make it without a cooldown and over a larger area. Speedy heals off other survivors, but no self healing.
They should also revert the nerf to self care. Poor claudette needs her heals back.

Then let's remove items from the game so neither side has an advantage before the game begins.
Okay, if you'll give up your addons.

@WesCravenFan said:
If you don't understand why there being FOUR of you and ONE of them is a gigantic advantage, I don't know what to tell you.
Yep, the killer should be more powerful than a single survivor when the game has started, but that advantage should not extend to before the game has begun.

Not worth the development time, or it's boring to see a bunch of shadowed people pre-lobby? Why NOT see them?
Their hand-held item would naturally need to always be visible, as that's vital information, though their add-ons are still secret.
I disagree. Survivors don't even get information about the perks their own teammates are running if they're solo.
I don't think they should be able to see the killer in the lobby, as this would be detrimental to stealth killers, but I don't think the killers should have information on the survivors either.
Survivors are expected to hope for the best in every game they enter, while killers can cherry pick their games/perks if they see too many beamers, toolboxes or medkits. Neither side should have an immediate advantage before the game has even begun.
-
Flashlights were, and still are the weakest item in the game. They deserved a small buff, and it really is a small one.
If you are consistently getting flashy saved on, you should look at your playstyle and learn where you're going wrong.

If survivors could see killers, then they could just lobby dodge all day long until they get a killer they want to match against. Killers have no reason to dodge survivors since survivors already could have a variety of perks that are not tied to the survivor. Essentially, survivors are just skins and don't affect gameplay much.
Killers can hide their identify, and survivors can hide their 16 perks.
If it makes no difference and survivors are just skins then why should they be seen in the lobby?

because it's 1 v 4
Yes, and killers are stronger than survivors within the setting of the game to reflect this. Information pre-game should be available to either side or none at all.
I would suspect that if players could see the killer they were going against there would be fewer disconnects as well.
-
It should be balanced around a 2k at the mid level. This is a game that should be fun for both sides, not a horror movie or a power trip fantasy for either side.

How? How can it possibly be as rewarding? If you don't pick your teammates you are going to have a lesser experience than if you do. This applies to literally every team based game in the history of games.
Giving solo survivors information on what their teammates are doing would be a step in the right direction. Many other games give their solo players some form of information system at basekit. In dbd we have to patch those issues ourselves with perks.
