  • A couple of the changes sound really good. Like picking yourself up after 90 seconds is a good change, there's no real reason for someone to be slugged for that long.

Base kit BBQ is also really great, it would be nice if they also added the BP bonus that BBQ used to have for spreading hooks.

The rest of the changes feel like overkill to me to be honest...

  • The only perk on that list I have a problem with is knock out because it is hard countered by swf but hits solo queue hard. Apart from that, don't group up and rush separate gens and you shouldn't have a problem. Slugging is only viable if you make it viable.

  • It's hard to stay nice on this game sometimes. Just play however you want to play, if you play nice then get teabagged that's on them not you they just need to get a life.

  • The whole point of survivor is to beat the killer by working as a team.

  • I'd prefer a forfeit button to an auto mori. Otherwise it's just going to promote slugging to get the mori.

  • I want everything we had before patch 6.1.0 and before SBMM. I miss it so much even though it was a busted mess.

  • Ruin/pop meta was the best we had. Fair perks that encouraged leaving a hook and chasing with decent counterplay. Each meta we've had since has been pure pain. The devs don't consider the game as a whole when they make these changes, they just look at pick rates.

  • I never thought they could make solo queue feel worse, somehow they managed it. Even swf feels unplayable.

  • Yeah I see it a lot in my games, I play solo survivor 90% of the time and it's extremely frustrating. The odds already aren't in your favour in solo.

It's usually either the first person hooked or if they get tunnelled. It's definitely a rage quit thing.

In a way I wish we could just DC for free if another teammate disconnects at 5 gens because it's just hopeless at that point.

  • I agree with you on DH, but CoH needed a nerf. Free heals for the entire team infinitely was a bad idea from the start, no matter how slow it is.

Solo survivors need some way to heal themselves consistently since it's difficult to get healed in solo queue but that could be done by buffing self care.

Solo-Q teams will NEVER be able to coordinate as well as an SWF without voice comms.

People can moan and cry about not wanting comms and that's fine, but there will never be an equal system for communicating.

The key word is coordination, obviously things like the UI and such can give info, but they can't come close to really efficient coordination unless the team is totally goated.

I'm 100% sure that comms on this game would be insanely toxic. Base kit bond for anyone who's playing solo might be a good idea though for coordination, not for SWF though.

  • Agreed, healing is way more difficult in solo queue so any nerf to healing will hit solo survs the hardest. I'm not against nerfing medkits, but solo queue needs something to help them adjust to the changes.

I wish they'd buff self care.

  • I've been playing less and less because the game hasn't been as fun for months now. SBMM, last year's meta shakeup and now this most recent update. Seems like they're removing the fun with each patch. It feels like a chore to play.

  • I don't think they work together. Endurance stacking isn't a thing. If you tunnel straight off hook, they won't have any protection.

  • Idc about circle of healing, it was too powerful for one perk to give a whole team free heals. They should buff the perk self care now, I think, as some compensation for solo queuers.

There is nothing wrong with a third health state....on all 4 survivors......every chase ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Also the problem is and always was the free chase extension without prerequisite conditions or real limitations..

It already has 3 conditions. You have to time it right, you can't be exhausted and you can't be in deep wound. Doesn't sound very free to me.

  • I totally agree with you, there's nothing wrong with having a third health state in the game. DH has a very small window of use, if you time it wrong you get zero value.

I also find it funny that the problem with old DH according to killers was dead harding for distance and they were all celebrating when it was nerfed. Now that survivors have adapted the problem is the third health state.

  • The more they buff killers the more aggravating these playstyles become and the harder they are to counter. Before the last big meta shakeup last year tunnelling/camping/slugging were manageable because survivors had tools to use against it. DS, DH etc.

Killers can't receive any meaningful buffs until tunnelling and camping are no longer an issue. It's a fundamental flaw in the game that for some reason the devs seem unwilling to resolve.

I think its still visible, even if its hard to see.

Also, your complaining abour trapper, even if he is a little broken it won't give him the game or anything. There are thousands of other issues that BHVR needs to fix as well.

It should still be addressed if it's unintended.

  • Agreed, DH was high risk high reward. You had to earn it to use it unlike sprint burst because you had to have perfect timing. The healing speeds are ridiculous also, in no universe should two survivors healing each other take more than half of a gen's worth of time.

This game used to be so fun, every update it just becomes more miserable to play.

No they should stop listening to low mmr survivors that cry how killers are OP

Or they should take everyone's feedback into account.

  • Thana/sloppy maybe?

  • Hard disagree. I can't say I'm a fan of any of the changes, except perhaps the CoH change with some tweaks. Most of these changes are total overkill imo.

  • They should have just nerfed self healing speeds across the board instead of reducing charges. Medkits should just be slower than a teammate heal, like 50% or something.

It makes purple medkits totally redundant. They needed a nerf but this is just dumb...

    We shall see

I've seen way more praise for these changes than people mad in my circles but we won't know for sure until it actually comes out.

The twitter response has been overwhelmingly negative from what I've seen. Better to wait for the PTB than get too worried though, you're right.

It'll be like every other DOOMSDAY DBD IS DYING Y'ALL patch

I'll keep playing and I'll learn to adapt to the changes

I don't know, after two poorly received chapters and now this. I would not be surprised if this is the last straw for a lot of people.

  • God forbid survivors give feedback! It was totally fine when the forum was spammed with "nerf DH" posts every other day though.

  • This will negatively impact solo queue far more than swf who can simply say "come to shack for heals."

  • This is what I'm most concerned about as someone who mostly plays solo, a nerf to self healing will only make solo more unbearable. To swf it won't make a difference at all.

There's literally no reason to play survivor in solo queue anymore, the devs are just using us as fodder to boost kill rates.

  • I agree, he's horrendously unfun to play against because there isn't any meaningful counterplay. At least before you had some information, but now you have zero and a guard just plops down in front of you. And don't even get me started on that stupid pincer attack he does, what am I supposed to do?

If I stay at a loop I go down because there's two killers on it and if I run away he just plops a guard in front of me. Seriously? What are you supposed to do?

It's an absolute embarrassment that servers have been left like this for 5 days now in the UK. If we have to join a server in Spain or something then great. Switch the London server off! I get the office is closed but the past couple of years with all the working from home that's gone on, surely a short term fix can be performed?

The twitter account can tweet nonsense out every day, but a proper statement on the main page, not a two line reply buried in a thread somewhere that hardly anyone can see, isn't hard to do. If it can't be fixed until next week at least put out a message saying so.

Agreed, we've all paid for this game and it's unplayable for a full week because the entire team is off. It's odd they don't have a contingency plan for stuff like this.

  • It's bad for survivors too, it's been happening to me every three games or so. Unfortunately it seems like we won't get a fix until after the new year.

Then OP should say that instead of screaming 'STOP BEING A TRYHARD!'

'The game is laggy, just kill Survivors and move on' is more polite than "STOP BEING A TRYHARD!'

Because that second one sounds like the same old screech of Survivors angry Killers won't 'think about OUR fun!' and demanding they 'stop using 'sweaty' perks/killers/tactics'.

Yeah I know, but we're pretty frustrated right now on our servers so I get him ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • It would be cute to have it as a goofy game mode. Not for regular matches though, it would be frustrating as hell.

  • @Stabby_Widdershins said:

Heaven forbit the Killer not ask you how they should play before the match starts.

This is about the lag situation the UK servers are dealing with. It's really bad, and DC penalties are still on as far as I'm aware so it's better to just get hooked and move on.

I think OP is saying please don't slug, let us just try to get out of laggy games as quick as possible.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/359529/awful-games-today

Well DBD is a game playing around snowball potential for killer.

And you gave the reason for the (seemingly) average killer behaviour yourself, in your swf you steamroll over killer. The killer player doesn't know if they go against swf or solos and have to try hard from the get go to not get left behind.

It's the same with the "it's boring to only see the strongest perk on the other side all the time" discussions, people that want to win will have to anticipate the worst and prepare/play accordingly.

DBDs nonexistent matchmaking is another reason. You never know what quality of opponenslts you will get in your next trial, so people stay on edge all the time and the casuals suffer for it.

Yes I agree with you, I'm not blaming the players for it. It's the game's fault for being unbalanced. It still doesn't feel good though.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

I don't believe people when they say all they get is hard tunneled and camped. I just don't believe them. For starters, it's mathematically impossible for it to happen to EVERYONE. If even one person gets this treatment, that means 3 other people didn't.

Second of all, people exaggerate. A killer hooking you, then leaving to kick the gen the next tile over, then come back when someone unhooks you isn't camping. Likewise a killer that downs you twice in a row because you ran somewhere less smart than your unhooker and nobody tried to help you isn't hard tunnelling. Hard tunneling is where you literally ignoring EVERYHING else, from bodyblocks to gens about to pop, even throwing the game, to make sure one person dies at all costs. THAT is hard tunnelling.

It doesn't happen every game of course not, but yesterday was an example that some days can just be horrendous, it was just one after another.

And you can forget about getting body blocks in solo queue for one thing. Whether you want to believe it or not, hard tunnelling and camping happen a lot, it's just usually you have a fair game in between to make it feel less terrible.

  • It's always "The killer should feel like an unstoppable force" when really they just mean "I want easy 4ks"

  • I think it's a little much to say it's every game, I do see some different builds. That said, I do see those perks a lot.

I would also agree that survivor perks are a little more diverse in my experience but there are definitely some perks that crop up a lot more.

At the end of the day, just play whatever you like, the gen regression will probably get nerfed soon anyway, since everyone's complaining about it.

  • @OrangeBear said:

I know a lot of killers will say tunnelling/camping's an effective strategy, but should it really be this effective for what it is?

No it shouldn't but it's just the way the game is. The developers could do something about it but they choose not to, there is ideas that would work but they just don't think it's worth it.

If you are a logical and rational gamer and you play this game enough it will likely make you miserable because the game is unhealthy and the community is toxic.

I still really love this game though but i do admit that the average quality of a match is #########.

It's a shame they don't think it's a priority, I know a lot of people who have been put off the game because of things like tunnelling.

I had to heal 3 people as Claudette, and I did the only two gens we did. I ran the killer twice for two minutes each where he couldn't touch me and had to give up. I saved almost everyone from hook, and did most of the healing.

I am guessing they were just wasting a lot of time self caring against sloppy.

I got my 3 heals though, so that's a win for me. #SoloSurvivor

Well I don't have the same experience as you as I don't really get camped a lot, probably because I make it a point not to go down first. Maybe you need to change your playstyle up a bit to prevent being a target. I feel for you though as going down first and being camped/tunneled right away is probably the most annoying thing in the game, and that says a lot given how ######### this game is.

Yeah when it happens in a few successive matches it feels particularly bad. Maybe a couple games playing it stealthy at the beginning of the match will cheer me up a little.

  • @th3syst3m said:

Well you play solo so there's no reason to play the game if you care about winning.

It's not even the winning, I don't mind losing. It's the hopelessness of it all, like there's no chance to even get decent points or a few fun chases if you're getting camped.

  • I disagree, nurse is a little tougher but mostly because of teammates giving up. You can absolutely win, it's just difficult sometimes especially with some of their addons.

  • They really need to turn off D/C penalties because it was really making me motion sick last night. I couldn't stay in a game for more than a couple minutes.

Some games were fine, but others were unplayable.

  • Yeah I've had a couple games like that today. Serious rubber banding, and it seemed the other survivors did too.

ย If something isn't fun, it shouldn't be in a game, we don't play this as our job.

Weird, I hear that in EVERY PvP game I've ever played as an excuse to remove anything players don't like.

    • Overwatch: Bastion is unfun. Widowmaker is unfun. Both should be removed.
    • TF2: Sniper is unfun. Spy is unfun. Both should be removed.
    • Counter-Strike: AWP is unfun. Should be removed.
    • CoD games: Literally every weapon had part of the player base screaming it was 'unfun' and 'for noobs' and 'should be removed' for 'the health of the game'. Grenade launchers were literally called 'noob tubes'.

It's almost like ANYTHING being 'unfun' is subjective and 'It should be removed if it's not fun' is a paper-thin excuse hiding the real thought behind it: "Anything I don't like should be altered, or removed, because I don't feel like playing around it."

So please forgive me if I roll my eyes at "If something is not fun, it should not be in the game." Because that's a vague, subjective excuse that holds 0 water.

Of course it's subjective, but people's opinions about what is fun or not matter. Just because something is based on a subjective feeling doesn't mean it's unimportant.

If enough people share the same opinion about tunnelling then it should be changed. Personally, it isn't fun for me when I or one of my teammates is getting tunnelled out of a game, that's my opinion.

We're all here on the forums to share what we think.
