"I personally don't tunnel in the traditional sence however if the only option I have is to chase the unhooked survivor (due to can't finding anyone else) then I'm not going to just throw the game and let them go just because survivor handbook sais i should."

Sadly sometimes the survivor unhooked is the victim of a too successful unhooker, ie they didn't lingered to take a protection hit but disappeared so skillfully that I only got one target: the poor, unhooked survivor. If its still the early game with 4 or 5 gens, I might just down them and try to pull someone off a gen and expose themselves. But if the game has already progressed too far, that survivor is going back on the hook.

Show some after-care to the survivors you unhooked, don't just throw them into this harsh world, wounded and without any protection. Don't hate the killer who just follows their nature, hate the "friend" who put you in that situation :V

See i do the same most of the time. If i down someone who has just been unhooked I don't have any intention of hooking them unless its end game and/or 1 gen left.

Usually I will leave them slugged to apply pressure and lure someone else out who i can then down and hook. I think the issue is a lot of survivor still see this as "tunneling" and have a go about it regardless of the reasons.

Ongoing i don't really care what survivors think. If i wanna tunnel someone because its the smart move then im gonna do it. same goes for camping. if proxy camping is the smart choice in the situation then damn straight im gonna do it.

Classic example is i had a game i sent myself to eerie of crows (randomizer build) and i manage to secure a 3 gen situation, hooked someone in the middle of it and was about to both defend the gens and proxy camp the survivor. Thats not me being a toxic camping kiler thats me being smart

  • I don't know why everyone can't just play for fun these days.

If you get tunneled then either the killer just wants his kill or (and this is what i see more as a killer) the survivor put themself in a position to be tunneled. AKA by using a perk like off the record just to get in the killers way or by the survivor doing the rescueing just stealthing leaving the only option as going for the unhooked person.

If your playing solo que and you get hardcore tunneled then just get hooked and go next. Survivor queues are very quick so its not a major issue. If your a SWF then turn the game into less "we have to all escape" to "lets just bully the killer for hardcore tunneling".

I personally don't tunnel in the traditional sence however if the only option I have is to chase the unhooked survivor (due to can't finding anyone else) then I'm not going to just throw the game and let them go just because survivor handbook sais i should.

Killers are being punished more and more for a playstyle yet nothing ever gets done about bully squads who think its fun to run a 4 man chain stun build where the killer has no chance.

Everybody is giving up/disconnecting when they see nurse, and for good reason. It is literally impossible to fight an even somewhat decent nurse, let alone with addons/perks, and people are starting to catch on to how simple she actually is to play. Playing nurse in her current state is like playing old spirit, or old deathslinger, or alchring/speed/C33/iri tag/adrenaline vial/slowdowns blight - you're actively choosing to make four people's days absolutely miserable by stacking the odds so far in your favor its nearly impossible to lose unless you go against the hardcore survivors.

Just give nurse a rest. We get it, some of you have a fragile ego and need constant 4Ks or you'll rage on Reddit. There's nothing wrong with occasionally pulling out the OP stuff every once in a while. But please don't keep putting the rest of us through these guaranteed meat grinders every single game, especially not in solo queue. And yes, I'm talking to YOU, black bridal dress nurses w/ range+recharge.

As an open letter to nurse mains, I'm asking you to switch things up a bit. Play Dead by Daylight instead of 4K by Slugging. Please.

I get where your coming from but isnt you asking nurse players to effectivly stop playing what they like selfish?

I mean as a killer main can i ask all survivors to please stop bringing off the record because its just Selfish to constantly use it obnoxiously instead of its intended use???

Like i get that nurse isnt fun to go against but i disagree that she is "easy" to play. I tried nurse and found that unless i wanted to put a ton of time into learning her i wasn't going to be any good so i went back to Nemi/clown.

on the rare occasion i do play survivor if i come against a nurse its either we are all dead at 5 gens or the nurse gets steam rolled by us and we escape with 1 or 2 hookstates.

  • Of course they will have some of the same concepts come up with killers as its getting to the point that there is nothing else left.

OP mentions the following types of powers are being repeated but some of them arn't bad to be repeated.

    • Anti-loop killer - Each killer has its own way of doing this. Don't know why so many people complain about it as each one is easily counterable from survivors and are often hard to get to grips with as the killer.
    • Teleport power / Movement speed power - Unless your demogorgan these are very hard to play because it relies on good RNG of your teleport locations. I enjoy the teleport killers but i doubt any more will come out because there is nothing left to teleport to.
    • Stealth - This is very rarely the main focus of a killers power. Wraith and ghostface are the only 2 that heavily relies on this mechanic for their general playstyles
    • Some set up killer power (there are rare) - So trapper and hag only? Maybe freddy to some extent. Since then we haven't had another setup killer. Don't see this as it being repeated.
    • Global ability effecting all Survivors - Whats wrong with this being repeated? as long as its unique in its own right
    • Instadown ability - Not had an insta down killer since Oni back in 2019. Its time we got a new one to be honest (not including addons that give insta btw)

Honestly there doesnt seem to be much left to do. I think the problem is a lot of the playerbase look at a new killer, associate the power as a kinda but not really combo of 2 different killer powers then complain that its just the same ole same ole. Or you get the salty survivors that just moan when the killer has any form of power that can help them shut down loops.

Is it more common to get cheaters/hackers on PC I play on console and I think I only got a cheater twice ever and that was about a year ago so is it more of a PC thing?

I think its definatly easier for your average kid to get hold of some cheat program but console cheating is still very possible. I only play PC now (unless im on my switch but not for DBD) and I know how easy it is to obtain cheat clients for games because its as simple as download it, run it, abuse it. With console its slightly harder and usually requires a hacked console to even work.

I mean it is an anticheat, but it is also on BHVR as they control the anticheat. Like you said the system should track flying people etc. And auto ban instantly but it doesn't

The problem with instant ban is it would result in to many false bans. For example if a hacker playing killer and is flying around they can carry a survivor up with them. At that point both killer and survivor would be seen as "flying"

What would be a rather simple fix is for the most part is simple conditions.

Is a player moving to faster than perks physically allow them - Instant D/C

Is a player healing someone or self healing faster than phycially possible - Instant D/C

Kill plains all around the border of the map and above them map just past an invisible wall - instant D/C

    And so on....

There are so many things BHVR "Could" do to stop these hackers or better yet probably so many things they could do against the websites that sell the hacked clients (making money of BHVR's product) but they refuse to even address the problem other than the typical "We are looking into it but have no information at this time".

If they don't do something soon majority of streamers will just stop playing the game which in turn will kill the game because regular players will follow suit.

everyone is asking for a "better" anti cheat...I'm asking for "An" anti cheat as there clearly isnt one right now lol

Im confused that was a perk combo? I genuinely never play against it

So the old combo was pain res + dead mans switch. Pain res would make you scream and let go of a gen and dead mans switch would then block that gen for 45 seconds

new combo was Pain res + merc storm. Pain res wouldnt kick you off the gen with the recent patch causing the gen to regress. If you happened to nearly have the gen done and where doing the skill checks for merc storm it would cause more skill checks to be needed because merc storm is active till the gen completes. i believe it totaled 40 merc storm skill checks.

As a killer I barely ever run pain res with dead mans switch before the patch as blocking the gen would remove the regression that pain res has.

I think this update is a fair one because they have still removed the notification of which gen has been hit by pain res but if your running it with dead mans switch you could then get notified. Basicly 2 perks to get notified and regress instead of 1.

It is so easy to counter as a survivor. Once you know they have pain res you just let go of the gens before someone gets hooked then you get back on the gen. Killer doesnt get dead mans switch and you stop the ongoing regression. Most of the time if Dead mans switch doesnt activate a killer won't come to a specific gen they will go looking for survivors because the assumption is no one is on a gen.

A clear way to really punish camping and tunnelling (as promised)

Solo survivors better communication and buffs

    gens back at 80 seconds

COH removed or nerfed into oblivion

Should you really be punishing a playstyle?

If they implement a way to punish camping/tunneling can we get a way to punish bully survivor squads who just spend the game head on stunning killers, constant letting the killer pull them out of lockers to be insta saved.

So fed up with survivors moaning about tunneling and camping. Just ######### on hook and go next if the killer is being toxic like that. As a killer if i get a group of toxic survivors there is nothing i can do to leave the match and I have to suffer through the game for as long as the survivors want to hold me there for. I have had games go on for 30mins plus because the survivors just chain stunned if i tried to kill them and then didnt do gens for so long.

Bottom line. Grow up and learn to counter tunneling. See a team mate getting tunneled. Go take hits and help out. slam gens and move on.

Coming from someone who's never played solo queue in his life, we don't need to get a grip what we need is a playable game again, 10 seconds added onto gens fair enough, however, countless slow down perks were buffed along with that and the entire killer base kit was buffed, survivors got nothing, basekit BT hasn't done anything and the perk changes on the survivor side are all nerf's/ not buffs survivors and solo queue got nothing

Are we playing the same game?

Please explain which gen slowdown perks got Buffed? Ruin got nerfed, Corrupt got nerfed, overcharge got buffed then instantly nurfed...

Also you say that all survivor side perks were nerfed not buffed? What about off the record, Botony knowledge, BT (got an insane buff because not only do you get endurance you get haste aswell), Sabatour?

  • @StarLost said:

While there are a few things that probably need to be tweaked (put DS back to 5 seconds, Nurse needs a look), the major argument seems to boil down to 'I'm not escaping as much as I was'.

That...is the point of the patch.

BHVR has access to data we don't.

According to them, kill rates weren't high enough.

They thus adjusted them by buffing killers.

Naturally, you won't be escaping as much as before!

I think the main issue is whilst they did shake up the meta for survivor they didnt even touch killer to much.

Yes we got a ton of regression nerfs (basicly no good regression perks now) but other than that not much changed.

I think what this patch has done is force killers to be more tunnel/camp because they don't have those regression perks anymore that are effective so the effective strat now is to get 1 person out of the game as quick as you can.

This in turn makes the game infinitly harder for survivors.

In my games I have noticed that I am 4king a lot more now and although im not a bad killer im not the greatest either. Some people i go against have 4k hours in the game and they are just failing mainly because of the huge meta nerf survivors recieved.

6.1.0 brought very little possitive from what i could see. The only thing that was positive for me was the dead hard nerf because i no longer have 4 DH per lobby.

The new prestige system forcing you to prestige - Very Bad

the over nerf of killers regression perks - Bad

the death of self care - Bad

the nerf to the ds stun timer - Bad

The huge buff Nurse got because of the changes - Bad

The over powered off the record buff - Bad (agree with the perk don't agree with how strong it is)

Hi Guys , after the last update got to be honest the game really aren't fun anymore for survivors every game feels like "World Champ" and the sweat that you need to pull ( only with a swif otherwise you don't have a chance to escape) either one of the surv are gets tunneled because of DS nerf or disconnections.

will like to hear you thoughts.

I think this is a Yes and No question.

A lot of players don't like change. Not just in DBD but any game when major changes are made there are always a group of players that basicly rage quit uninstall.

Then you have players like some others have said that can't play survivor anymore because they don't have their crutch perks so that makes them stop playing.

Killers are just becoming more and more toxic because the buffs to survivor means that tunneling/camping is sometimes the only way to secure kills.

I myself am a killer main and as the only one perk i run got nerfed (BBQ) and not in a game play changing way I havn't changed how i play the game. I won't stop playing the game and i do still have fun when I play but i don't take it seriously. If i come against a 4 man sweat squad who want to make my game hell i will just tab out and watch youtube till they are finished.

I think Behaviour really does need to have a good sit down and think about what they have done with this current patch as although some changes they made were needed it feels that most of them were not and/or went to far on the changes.

Honestly I am trying to get into more discord groups that set up custom games for fun matches rather than public lobbies and I think more and more people should do this. Custom games = no bp needed, no toxic behaviour (because u remove them from your group), no D/C penalties and just all around more fun in the game.

  • @Piruluk said:

Game should be rewritten to be more server sided, that would be the only way to reduce hacking. Wont happen, so have to bear with it

Or just have better detection systems. Firstly a kill plane all around the map so if you exit the map you insta die and are booted from the game. Second detect if a character is moving over x m/s , healing 2 states in 1 second, hooking to often and so on.

There are so many simple things that they could have detections for that could just insta boot suspected hackers from the game.

Not even say put a punishment on it just disconnect them from the game if its detected. yeah some people who lag will get caught in it but thats why no punishment.

Something like this would reduce the amount of hackers you get.

Also behaviour should be going after the sites selling the hacked clients. I mean you literally google it and the clients for sale come up in the search results. I'm sure they are breaking some sort of EULA or something that they can get them shut down for if they look hard enough.

  • Gotta agree with the OP on this one. Not to the point i will uninstall the game because you know...its a game at the end of the day.

But the way we are forced to slug through the blood web 1 - 50 again and again with 0 reward for doing so is just not right. Behaviour could have easily implemented a way for players to quickly unlock killer/survivors perks without effecting players who already have everything.

For example just give the base level 1 perks for characters you own up to a certain DLC (like say last 3 DLCs don't get instant unlock).

This means all new players can jump straight into the game with perks from killers/survivors they already own then they can progress the normal way to raise the level of those perks.

I get that behaviour have said they will "look" at the raritys of the items in the blood webs but honestly don't hold out much hope of much changing because what can they honestly do.

For killers some of them the brown addons are some of the best (i believe demo is a good example) where as others your looking at purple, green or even irry as there best. No matter what they change someone will always lose so the easiest thing to do is give us an option if we want to prestige.

Oh and remove the payment for presteging if you are going to force us to do it. like why do I have to pay 20k BP to get nothing in return.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

I don't agree with your delivery, but I do agree with the sentiment that the grind reduction is very superficial.

Forcing us to prestige is big mistake IMO.

Agreed my delivery was poor. after having consecutive rubbish games, updating to find even more blood point loss its just so upsetting to see the game go down this path. Have ammended the original post to still emphasize the frustrations but removed the toxic parts.

they have reduced the blood points we get so much it would not surpirse me at all if soon we see microtransactions to buy blood points.

Regarding the queue incetives these are only for those who like playing both sides. I can't stand playing survivor because majority of solo queue teammates are unskilled (this is due to the fact that MMR just doesnt work not their fault). This is why i play killer and only killer.

Just don't understand the over the top nerf to blood points as a whole.

on the plus side RIP Dead hard. Easier to bait out and when its used the survivors just fail every time so thats a win.

What is different about BT/Exhaustion Perks/basekit BT as compared to DS or OtR? Why should only those two perks/abilities be deactivated once gates are powered compared to others?

Well BT requires someone else to rescue with that perk. not always gonna happen, Exhaustion perks are very easy to get around (although i do believe that exhaustion shouldnt recover whilst your on the hook. I mean you have a meat hook through your shoulder your not exactly relaxed).

Also 15 seconds BT (5 if they don't bring the BT perk) can be waited out unless they are hooked right next to an exit gate. DS and OTR both have 1min timers (80 seconds for OtR) which allows them to cross map without any fear.

The point is these perks turns survivors into tanks that can do what they want with no fear.

  • @Blazelski said:

We all know that Decisive Strike won't work in the endgame anymore, and it seems likely that Off The Record will be changed to not work in endgame either, but is everyone aware and approving of the consequences of that? Genuinely asking, not implying it's good or bad.

Right now, survivors really like to go for the save during endgame. This seems to be when a lot of the fun/fooling around/risk-taking happens for survivors, particularly high skill SWFs. With no DS/OTR in endgame, I see two possibilities:

    1. People stop trying to get saves in the endgame against semi-camping killers, because it usually doesn't work out. Upsides: Killers who feel like they've already lost aren't forced to continue playing a miserable match. Downsides: Killers end up with less hooks/kills/bloodpoints due to everyone just leaving.
    2. People still want to get their friends/allies out, so Borrowed Time stays meta (since it still works in endgame). If it isn't enough, people also bring Guardian/No One Left Behind to have the best chance of saving in endgame, making more perks necessary for that purpose. Upsides: Fewer lose-lose situations for killers, and fewer perk options for survivors dedicated to getting endgame saves (from killer perspective). Downsides: BT meta doesn't really change much, and fewer perk options for survivors dedicated to getting endgame saves (from survivor perspective).

How are people feeling about what no DS in endgame will mean for how the endgame plays out? Am I overthinking it, overlooking something, or are either of these outcomes something you welcome?

Here is my take on it as a Killer Main.

Firstly kills don't matter to me. If i 4k then great, if i 2k cool. if i 0k oh well i will have another game.

Having said this it is very annoying when you have outplayed survivors in end game to secure your kill/hook only to have it thrown in your face because you find out that the survivor was immortal anyway. During end game no one should be without fear.

Yeah i get it solo que can suck sometimes because some players just want a win and don't care about anything else but a lot of times in end game the team has come for the rescue, took hits properly to save the hooked player and everyone escaped and i find out they are solo que.

So personally i would like to see the second chance perks like DS (which is deactivating) and new off the record which should for sure deactivate end game but i don't think other perks like BT, DH or any exhaustion perks should deactivate end game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/332980/hex-ruin-shouldnt-be-a-hex-anymore

Most Hex perks are garbage now, not worth the risk of the perk being destroyed 30 seconds into the the match, which is what usually happen with experienced survivors who know where to find totems combined with awful totem spawns. Running a hex perk these days is pretty much lighting a perk slot on fire

I run devour on my main build and i would argue that if you are a good killer you don't have to rely on the hex perks to get a win. Devour gets clensed 3/4 games when i run it but 3/4 games i also 3 or 4k right now.

Having ruin no longer be a hex would IMO make the perk to powerful. its a constant regression that can't be removed and all killers then have to do is gen hop and 12 hook. If you kill a survivor very quickly which would deactivate ruin then you have more pressure in the game than ruin ever could give (3v1 instead of 4v1). Just my thoughts but this is from someone who doesn't run ruin because i don't see the point when there are better/more fun perks to run.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3036403#Comment_3036403

It's an interesting case, as in a vacuum that one scenario is a decent savings: the old system required you to get the new killer to level 40, then unlock their perks on other killers, which would take 5 bloodwebs assuming good RNG:

    1 1 0

    2 1 1

    2 2 2

    3 3 2

    3 3 3

then getting all perks on the new killer, which is 125 levels, for a final total of 305 (5*28+40+125)

The new system, at its most efficient, is the same as the all perks one: Level new killer to 51, then get their perks P3 on the other killers, which takes only 4 bloodwebs:

    2 2 1

    3 2 2

    3 3 2

    3 3 3

Because when there are only 2 perks left, you can only get one, which requires 2 bloodwebs (though all of this is assuming you're between levels 40 and 50, the number of levels required doubles if you're not, but they're arguably cheaper levels). So the new system totals to 162, or a little over half. Still not 75%, but still quite a bit of savings.

An interesting aspect is that, in order to do this with the next killer that comes out, you either have to P3 the prior killer to not have to worry about it, which adds 100 levels flat, or keep the prior killer at P1 and buy their T2 and 3 on the new killer. This actually isn't a problem for 2 killers after the original one left at P1, as you'll unlock all perk tiers of the P1 killers in the time it takes to get to P1 on the new one: 60 perk tiers between 1 and 50, with 39 tiers of non-teachables to unlock, and 6 tiers of their own perks. This leaves 15 perk tiers unused on the road to P1, which on the second and third killer would be used to buy the 6 tiers of all non-P3'd killers. But from there on out, you start having to invest more in the new killer to unlock everything. 3 extra levels on the forth killer, 9 on the fifth, 15 on the sixth, etc.

    Does this matter at all?

Not even slightly. If you write out the Sigma calculations for the amount of levels required for both the old system with the ever increasing number of teachables jacking up the level requirements and the new system with this level increase every time, you compare:

    Σ(9.5n+267) from 1 to 23

    to

    Σ(10n+191) from 5 to 23 + 686

where N is the number of new killers added past 28. This converges at some value around 310 new killers, but at any point past 23 you're just leveling new killers to p3 under the new system so the value never increases.

I don't know why I did this. Someone help me.

Just wanna say your amazing. You have proven time and time again that the "grind" isnt reduced as much as promised and you haven't even covered the fact that despite a grind reduction (not 75%) of perks is there that there has been an immence grind increase for addons/offerings. Would be very interested to see just how much more grinding is needed now to get consistant green+ addons/offerings

  • @WesCravenFan said:

I just checked the PTB, and thanks to the grind changes my level 1, freshly bought Haddie now has 7 pages of perks.

Explain to me how this isn't huge for me.

This is because you have already leveled all other characters so of course your gonna unlock all perks straight away. But consider a new player who is just coming to the game for the first time. finding out everyone they go against was able to unlock perks so much easier given they only have to level 40 not 50 all characters.

Now agreed the perk obtaining has gone down. not by 75% that they promised but it was reduced however now the addon and offering grind has increased stupidly. Being knocked down to level 1 giving you 25ish bloodwebs of crap is just a waste of blood points.

Now with the loss of BBQ/WGLF along side the fact that finding bp offerings is even harder now its going to take so long to get the offerings/addons you want.

This is really going to effect content creators who are doing specific videos on certain addons/maps especially on new killers/survivors as finding enough addons to get a decent video is going to a lot harder now.

your right, I'm pretty sure the 50k tax was never mentioned until the ptb notes came out. They clearly omitted for that a reason, they knew we would hate it.

The question is why put something in place thats just going to piss off the community as a whole. I don't think there is going to be a single player out there thats going to be "Wow 50k to prestige. Hell yeah ill spend that. What do i get for it? Nothing and worse addons. Sign me Up".

The little faith the community still had in behaviour is slowly dieing and although I won't quit playing the game I won't play as much and most likely just customs where BP doesnt matter.

  • I don't really play survivor but whenever i do here is my list

    Fav to go against.

    1. Ghostface - Just a fun killer to go against
    2. Nemisis - Its a personal challenge to have a zombie body block for me
    3. Clown - I just like the clown

Honorable Mention - Nurse, Blight and Billy. So fun to dupe these killers and watch them zoom in the wrong directoin

    Worst to go against.

    1. Doctor - The madness and shocking is just to obnoxious and at lower MMR if u get a good doctor u might aswell just afk and give up.
    2. Pinhead - The chainhunts are to annoying. happen to often and the box mechanic is so scuffed
    3. Bubba - Obviously because of the whole face camp each player to death.

Honorable Mention - Plague and Pyramid Head - Mainly for the range abilities of them both and broken effect with plague.

  • @Peanits To be fair you make your case and your case gets thrown out with more Math. What other possible workaround could you come up with to justify removing the blood point bonus' from BBQ and WGLF. And before you say it, because I know you will. Saying "its to allow players to run other perks not have their BBQ as a base perk in every build" this game is how we want to play it not how you want us to play it. Don't wanna see the blood point perks in every game. Make it base kit. You did it with BT (which i don't really agree on but thats for another day) so why not do it with blood points. You Lose nothing for making it base kit or keeping the bonus' in but you lose all respect from the community for removing it.

There is no change to the bloodweb, the change is the way in which prestige and obtaining perks is done.

It's not about "removing" the grind, it's about reducing it - which this change most definitely does.

the issue is the math prooves that the grind is even worse then factor in the lost of BBQ and WGLV means the grind is then double worse. Not sure who decided this but its poor. I really hope we get double blood point events every month else the grind is going to be so bad now

We're very aware of that (we actually mentioned exactly that in the dev update). However, we do not want people to always have one perk slot locked in just for bloodpoints. Your perk choices should be the perks you want to run, not the ones that make the grind manageable. There was very little reason to run other aura reading perks when this one gave both information and doubled your bloodpoints.

We made sure to pair this with a huge grind reduction and new ways to earn bloodpoints to compensate, but this is ultimately a step that we need to take.

What do you expect the killer mains response to be. You say your removing the grind but give 0 information on that. Will we be able to specify prefered addons to appear on the blood web. Same for the offerings for maps.

Its hard to give the new bbq any sort of fair try if you don't give us all the information. Unlocking perks has never been the issue because you are guarenteed to unlock 2 perks from a choice of 4 every blood web (at level 50) but if i want to find some wards to stop map offerings. or find some addons to use you can guarentee i see them once every 10 blood webs.

My question is When will you be giving us the details on the new bloodweb system and Why wasn't it given in this dev update????

As an exclusively solo survivor since 2017, the coming changes look disgusting for survivors, great for killers, they neeeded it but us solo players get screwed, yet again, this is the final nail in the coffin, this game was barely fun to begin with and now, it will truly be a miserable experience for solo

so they increase gen speeds, okay, so whats stopping killers from still bringing stacked regression perks, the devs took a problem and made it worse, right idea, stupid execution

every survivor meta perk decimated, why?, you kill perks because they are popular, thats backwards, are you going to nerf whatever paltry meta comes out of this because that too is popular, pathetic.

    buffed bloodlust, thats also backwards

i was all for killer buffs, that seems great but to nerf survivors into the ground, i'm glad i didn't buy the last few DLCs 😅

expect a mass exodus of solo players when it goes live, killer queues will return to 30m and considerably less content being created by survivors, pretty good job so far

I see a few issues with your statements here but lets adress the first thing. Time to quit. Then quit. no ones stopping you if you don't like change go play another game.

Now to address the comments in your post.

You say whats to stop killers bringing stacked regression perks. how is this different from before this update? Killers have always been able to do this its just a form of playstyle. As a killer main I can argue with this update whats to stop survivors bringing stacked endurance and speed perks that have been buffed??

Every survivor meta perk decimated...not exactly. Balancing doesnt mean decimated. Lets break it down.

Dead hard has been buffed. on the face of it the perk looks bad but in practice when used efficently it will give survivors much more distance and a free hit.

Ds was nurfed but it was needed. The stun timer brings it in line with pallet and head on stun timers.

BT has been buffed a lot because ontop of the endurance you also get the 7% speed boost for the 15 seconds.

Self care was nurfed yes but there are alternative perks you can use instead. Boon circle of healing or just bring a medkit.

Iron will is a fair nerf as it doesnt make survivors completly invisible.

Now you say bloodlust got buffed. Well yes it did. but only tier 2 and 3. Most killers will get a hit either before blood lust 1 or during blood lust 1. If a killer gets to bl2 or bl3 then either the survivor has a god tier setup or the survivor is just higher skill. And a higher skilled player will know to pallet stun a killer to reset blood lust timers.

I find it intersting that you don't mention any survivor buffs and just complain about nerfs. Off the record (although will likely be changed) is a great solo survivor perk as it can help when your farmed off the hook. Botony knowledge got a buff meaning the healing meta is even better now.

All in all the update has its ups and downs but both sides got nerfs and both sides got buffs.

What we are seeing on the forums is players just complain for the sake of complaining and most don't want to stop and think about how the new versions of the perks will work in practice or how some of them will become very powerful when comboed.

80 seconds of survivors doing nothing but running behind the killer hoping to get a protection hit or literally hiding in a corner sounds like a killer buff to me.

Fr tho, it's good against tunneling but it's definitely not op lmao it goes away the second the survivor does literally anything. And bc a bunch of ppl are already crying about it it'll probably be nerfed back to being useless anyway.

Honestly i can't wait for this off the record buff i hope they keep it exactly as this. I'm a killer main and there is nothing i love more currently than a BT survivor to run at me for no reason but to take a hit for no one. It gives so much pressure to a killer and the fact that killers have had there swing cooldown reduced on successful swings means hitting the survivor who has endurance is only going to hurt the survivor.

Also ongoing this is a legitimate reason to tunnel a survivor if they are going to be obnoxious with off the record as if they are hunting the killer to take a free hit clearly they want to be re-chased despite them being just unhooked right :)

Off the record is less an anti tunnel more a please tunnel me perk purely because instead of using it defencively like its supposed to be used for its going to be used offensively which isnt what the perk is for and killers will punish survivors who do that

Honestly i've literally used dead hard three times in my life (1 for the adept, 2 for tome challenges), so i don't know how it's going to be affected but to me it sounds that the effect will still be strong but will be much harder to use, so we'll have to see in the PTB ig.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3016148#Comment_3016148

That's probably it tbh, some builds are op on some killers but balanced on others so it's surely more difficult to decide which ones to nerf / buff... but i can't forgive that bloodlust buff lol

Honestly if your needing bloodlust 2 to catch survivors you aint winning anyways. The time spend chasing survivors to bloodlust 2 or 3 is still a long time per hit. Don't forget bloodlust 1 hasn't been changed and most killers will get a hit either pre bloodlust or right after bloodlust 1. I think that bl2 and bl3 will only be used if survivors are chaining god teir setups in which case yeah we need help because of near infinite loops.

  • @Annso_x said:

I play both killer and survivor, but full disclosure i play survivor in higher ranks than killer, so i don't know about high ranks experience from the killer perspective.

Following the news, i'm wondering, where's the meta changes?

Survivor meta got nerfed, that's for sure. But killer meta? The only two perks I think won't be used anymore are BBQ, which will be switched for better aura reading perks, and Hex: Ruin that got nerfed a bit hard and will be replaced by an other slow down perk. But overall, slow down builds are going to be even more effective now, and camping got buffed as well, I don't think the killer meta is going to be changed at all, honestly i think it just got buffed.

If more experienced killers could tell me their point of view about this i'd appreciate it, do yall actually think the slowdown builds aren't going to be worth running anymore? Mostly when camping is going to be more rewarding bc gens take longer to complete?

I think the problem is the core meta for survivor is always the same 6 perks

DS, DH, BT, Unbreakable, Iron Will, spine chill (ish). So nurfing those will drasticly change the survivor meta

When you think about killer each killer has its own meta.

High mobility killers use tinkerer pop ruin but those don't work so well on something like clown or trapper.

I myself as a killer main run BBQ, Lethal, Franklins and Devour and if i roll on the devour and it doesnt get clensed it usually ends in the survivors having no chance.

The problem with killer meta is there is no one true meta everyone is running every match but instead it just depends on your MMR level and the killer you go against.

FYI i don't agree with Carrow on the whole NOED is a equip to win the game perk. NOED has always been so easy to counter....do bones.

  • Now for the survivor perks

Dead Hard - This is both a nurf and a buff imo. The nerf comes from not being able to use it when you want for distance. So no longer will it be used simply to reach a pallet or window. however timed well this perk now extends chases much more. What was used to reach a pallet or window now has the potential with the 1.8 seconds of speed boost of reaching an entirely new and potentially stronger loop. All in all I like the nerf/buff

Decisive Strike - This nerf has been a long time coming. Not having this be able to activate after the last gen pops will now stop the DS/Unbrekable infinite combo that tends to happen. I agree with some others that maybe now this needs to have the ability to activate after every unhook during the game but all in all a fair nerf. The 3 second stun timer just brings it in line with what DS used to be and brings it in line with other stun timers such as pallet and Head on.

Borrowed Time - Due to the small base kit version this perk has been buffed. You still get your 15 seconds of endurance however now you also get 15 seconds of 7% speed. This means for good survivors (or against lower skilled killers) more chances to make them whiff by faster spins. Behaviours comment about hoping this perk won't be used as much due to the base kit version doesnt justify buffing it. Personally this perk could have just had the increased endurance time but left the speed bonus at 5 seconds.

Iron Will - This is a great nerf. It still helps stay stealthed from survivors but doesnt make them audibly invisible and the perk feels more balanced now. No more iron will bush gamers.

Self-Care - I've already seen the jokes around "my team mates will now be self careing for 5 hours in the corner". Think about it. If your injured healing yourself you should be slow at healing. I mean you have just been slashed/smashed/hooked by a killer your not going to be in the best of shapes. Saying that I think the double nerf it got was a bit extreme. Either it should have had a lower healing speed but still give the efficiency bonus to medkits or keep the healing speed but loose the efficiency

Spine Chill - This has been a controversial nerf. Although it helps me as a killer i can see why survivors arn't happy. The perk has been nerfed to a point were there is no point running it. The value speed should have never been a thing imo but instead of having it just line of site it should have stayed the same but have killers who are undetectable not trigger it. I mean they are undetectable for a reason.

Saboteur - Great buff. Survivors needed a way to see were scourge hooks were especially now with the buffs

Off the Record - The big buff that everyones talking about. This perk i'm undecided on. On the one hand i look at it and think "meh it isnt actually that great" but on the other hand it does stack so well with other perks. Now this perk will be either really strong or kinda meh depending on the final wording of the perk. If it puts survivors into deep wounds like BT does then i think its fair. If a survivor wants to run cross map to just get hit then thats a survivor doing nothing else for up to 80 seconds. On the other hand if its just endurance (like mettle o man) and it trigures as a protection hit then some insane combos could form. I think everyone needs to hold off on judging this perk untill we know the exact wording of the perk as currently its just to vague.

Thats all the notible perks i believe

  • @kaneyboy said:

This iconic perk is now being made useless. What once gave you cat like instincts- should now be replaced with a picture of a floppy fish.

Just fyi cats don't have sixth sence and can know your coming towards them if they can't see you. Maybe you should recommend the perk Spider Sence if you want the old spine chill as that is what your referencing in your description.

  • I don't see how Solo queue has been overly screwed. The basekit BT is a huge buff to solo que survivors as not only are you getting endurance but speed boost aswell. Don't forget that speed boosts tend to stack so if u do get hit off the hook you get the speed boost from being hit + 7% for 5 seconds.

Let's face it 9 times out of 10 BT is used not as an anti tunnel perk but instead as a perk that allows you a free health state to bully the killer with.

The DS nerf was a long time coming regarding it being deactivated after last gen and although the stun being reduced from 5 to 3 sucks this brings it in line with other stuns. Pallet stuns are 2 seconds and Head on stuns are 3 seconds so don't see this being a major issue with DS being brought to 3 seconds. If a killer wants you dead by tunneling there isnt anything you can do about it anyway and those extra 2 seconds arn't going to do much.

Ive seen a lot of people say how none of this helps against face camping bubba and that some killer buffs are helping bubba. Thats fair to say but if you get a game against a face camping bubba just get out of the match and start another game. Queue times (at least for me) arn't overly bad right now so its not much waiting to move to a new game.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

I dont think tunneling (and camping) determines the character of a person, since ya know, it's literally just a game, and Im not going to let the actions taken within a game dictate who someone is outside of a game. People can play the game how they choose. If they want to tunnel, Im fine with waiting in queue again, Ill just move onto the next match. Want to camp me? Ive got Kinship, so Ill gladly wait the 2 min 34 seconds, more time for my team to get gens. Either way, I dont care if I die as survivor, I dont care about losing or winning as killer either, but that's just me, and not everyone is the same, Im just here to have some fun, and Im not sure why everyone has to make a big fuss over how other people play.

I wish everyone had your outlook. I don't care if i win or lose as killer but some games its just so unbalanced in order for the survivors to win i have to throw and afk in the corner for 4 gens lol. What i don't get is why Camping and Tunneling has become the go to for survivors to blame as to why they lost the game.

My question wasn't about how people play its about how people respond to losing in games and why a single term now has such a broad range of uses.

"Their teammates suck without realizing the teammates probably think the same of them."

That's just not true. Most of my teammates (that I can see) have less than 100 hours and 99% have less than 500. Sometimes they just immediately throw the game because it's funny to them or they could just be so inexperienced they run from nothing and can't hit skill checks. I'll post clips of recent games once they're uploaded and suitably blurred.

    https://youtu.be/yIZaZ1vbjqE

    https://youtu.be/KYhfUT2o358

Like, what am I supposed to do here?

First clip was clearly a new player who didnt hit the skill check. Clearly they freaked out because the missed skillcheck would have allerted the killer and given your against oni if the oni had their power they would be over in a heart beat.

Second clip granted those team mates suck and players like that are whats wrong with DBD Solo Q. Honestly there needs to be a better way to report players who don't participate in the normal gameplay (doing gens, unhooking teammates and so on).

One thing i don't agree with is that all survivors under 500 hours (rough estimate based on previous comments) are trash teammates.

Having teammates that are not as experienced isn't their fault and they shouldnt get ripped on for it. This is purely down to the matchmaking system.

As a killer main i have maybe 50 ish hours in survivor maximum as i actually find survivor incredably boring to play so i can't really comment to much on solo q but during games as killer when i see someone just meming about whilst others are trying to win the game i genurally go a bit easier on them and just kill the idiot :)

  • I think the outcome of my original question is this.

Survivors D/C right before they die because:

    • They think they are hurting the killer (when they actually are not)
    • They think they are hurting other survivors who may or may not be very good (again are not if they are dead anyway)
    • They are salty af that they got killed this game

At the end of the day both sides D/Cfor various reasons, Some toxic some legitimate (pizza arrives) but D/Cing at the end of the game when your about to die anyway will always be just a petty thing to do.

Side note this applies to killers who D/C when final gen pops.

  • @Zeidoktor said:

The only late-game D/C that makes sense to me is doing it so their last teammate has a shot at the hatch.

  • @Mekochi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2962514#Comment_2962514

Bruh, someone obviously doesn't play survivor, killers will D/C if they don't get a kill sometimes and you call survivors petty. What type of BS?

    Survivors can D/C for numerous amount of reasons just like killer and it all boils down to the same reasons;

•They have to go do something and can't finish the gamez the penalty will most likely be over by the time they get back

    •They don't like the map

•The game isn't going in their favor

•(Killer) Because they got stunned once / (Survivor) Because they got downed once

    D/Cing during loading is no different;

•Didn't like an offering someone brought

•Again, they have to go do something and won't be back in time for the game

    •Spite (sad but true)

So don't you dare just call survivors petty, killers can be equally just as petty, survivors can face the same impotence as killer

Both sides are petty in their own ways and it's sad to see, but in the end the most common reason I see both sides D/C is this

Because they had a series of bad games, so they know that by D/Cing, they can ruin the games for others, Killers since they can quite literally end the game by D/Cing, Survivors since they can screw over their teammates possibly and make the killer lose some points or that adept they were trying to get

I completly agree. Killers will D/C because they are petty also. Here is the thing. My question was not about D/Cing in general. It was a simple question as to why do Survivors D/C right before they die not when they are first downed or anything. 9/10 they are not denying the killer anything and they arn't hurting the other survivors because they would have died anyway.

As a survivor can just get themselfs out of the game by unaliving themself on first hook i don't actually see why survivors D/C at any point but mainly right at the end of the game.

  • @I_am_Negan said:

Who cares just take your points and move on to your next match.

I don't care really. Any survivor who does this just gives me more BP. It was just something i was wondering. Why D/C and lose everything if your about to die anyway?

  • @TheMadCat said:

    Why do Killers D/C?

Please killer mains. Explain to my why they do this.

Surely killers arn't that salty that they lose a gen are they?

Doesn't it work this way as well? Could we stop the "us vs. them"? This is not a "Survivor" issue. It's a player issue, no matter the side they decided to play. Yes, I've met Killers who DC right before the last guy escaped the match because they got zero kill. I know, it's frustrating, I've been there. So, why losing all the BP made?

People DC in all PVP games when they're too frustrated. Not everyone does that, but I mean, it's not because of the side you play, and it's not only in DBD.

Ok so clearly i struck a nerve for some reason. I asked a resonable question.

For a killer if survivors are bullying or just way outside the killer skill level they can't just leave the game by throwing. A killer has to wait for all gens to be completed and then they can trigger end game.

For a survivor if you don't like the game just get hooked and #########.

My original question was actually why D/C right before they were going to die/game end not about D/C's in general if you actually read the post.

I'm fully aware that both killers and survivors D/C during games because they are salty but my question was more about the stupid D/C's that happen when they have another way out of the game that doesnt hurt them.

So sorry you got so Butt Hurt over my question and I in no way posed it as a us vs them. This is from my point of view a mainly "survivor" issue as its survivors who D/C right before they are about to be killed.

Maybe instead of coming back with hate next time answer back if you have legitimate feedback.

Ik your original post was about something else but the topic of this post was also asked about at the bottom of yours, so I used it as an example. Sorry if that was confusing.

oh no worries. yeah kinda confusing linking my post lol

  • I believe the DC penalty should be removed for both survivor and killer and replaced with something a bit fairer.

Because there are many reasons a player would D/C its doesnt always mean it is a rage quit.

For example. as a killer if you get a hacker in your lobby then you have to either wait untill they get bored or d/c but then your punished for that despite a hacker basicly forcing the D/C

You could have internet issues - This is often a common reason for a D/C. I myself have had this issue were my internet suddenly goes down thru no fault of my own and i come back to a time out penalty. I know this was address by the devs in a post before but them simply say "ensure you have a stable connection" is a bit bull because even a stable connection from router to PC/Laptop/Console could still go down because of your IP.

Overly aggressive and bully squad survivors - I wouldnt class this as a "rage quit" as such because there are teams of survivors out there who don't play the game (i.e doing gens) but instead just spend the game spamming head on combos and flashlight combos with no intention of doing gens. As a killer the last thing i wanna do is be in a match like this as i see it as a way to basicly hold the game hostage untill they make a mistake.

And of course you have the rage quit disconnect that is the one that does deserve a punishment.

Unfortunately as there is no way to determind why a disconnect happens they have set a standard punishment across the board but a penalty time out shouldnt be it. Especially as the more you disconnect the higher the timeout is (when it could be issues not rage quit).

Maybe instead of punishing with timeouts punish with loss of BP or Irridecent shards or something along those lines.

And this is why I'm a Basement Bubba. Why would anyone even want to stay in a game with Legion at this point? You're visible in lockers and under Shadow Step. That is the definition of OP.

    I'm sorry what.

Firstly in your original post "I don't know what buff legion got". Mid chapter JUST released and the patch notes are there for everyone to see.

"26 out of 28 games have been legion". Well yeah its mid chapter and players are checking out the new changes to the killer.

Comparing the legion rework to how COH and Boil over was released is a joke. Boil over literally made the game unplayable if survivors chose to abuse it (RPD For example) and when CoH was released it was extreamly overpowered.

The legion rework makes this killer playable and you complaining that he can see you in lockers....this was always a thing. Killer instinct on any killer will show you the location of a survivor within a range no matter where they are. Shadow step has never worked against killer instince as it blocks auras and scratchmarks. Killer instinct is not aura reading.

Maybe before you complain about something is "OP" you actually do some research on what the killer does and how certain mechanics (killer instinct) works.

You ask "Why would anyone even want to stay in a game with legion at this point" yet you say your basement bubba which is so boring to go against and is basicly face camping bubba just in the basement. Why would any survivor want to go against that. At least with legion you can get good chases and counter the power.

this is probably one of the funniest things i've heard in my life it's a good joke tho i mean i can't take this seriously

TUNNELING= Alright tell me if a killer doesn't tunnel what's he gonna do? huh? run around the map?

tbh now i get it why people say that dbd forums is just funny

Not entierly true. Some killers will go out of there way to get someone out of the game as fast as they can by tunneling purposly. By this i mean they activly ignore all other survivors in order to get the kill.

On the other hand you are correct. If the only survivor you find is the one thats just been unhooked its stupid to think that they would ignore them just beacuse its technically tunneling.

The main problem is although sometimes tunneling is a ######### playstyle when its the main focus but a lot of the time its just the only play that the killer has to make at that time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/320766/killers-still-tunnelling-badly-even-after-nerf

Honest question, how much of the camping and tunneling is due to the (today nerfed) Circle of Healing and how much is just the Killers being campy tunnelers?

The big question when survivors complain about tunneling and camping is how much is survivor induced.

    For example.

If i hook someone and i know someone is nearby im going to look for them. I'm not activly camping the hook im actively looking for another survivor i know is near by. Or they loop around the hook. This is survivor induced camping.

For tunneling a number of times someone gets unhooked. I go back to the hook to get the unhooker and they are no where to be seen. The only person left there is the one who has just been on the hook. I wouldnt just turn around and ignore them because that would be stupid so i go after them as its the only choice left. Again this is another situation were its survivor induced tunneling.

Some other examples of this is survivors using BT and/or DS as attacking perks by throwing themself at the killer then wondering why they get re-hooked and/or killed.

Also on the note of camping and tunneling here is the real truth. We are Killers. WE are the bad guy in this game and we will kill you however we want :)

(FYI i am not the sort to go out of my way to camp or tunnel someone unless its absolutly neccessary.)

I thought they were going to rework GF's music after all the bad feedback on the PTB. It's just as ear piercing as before. Did I miss something or is his music going to be re-re-addressed in the future? I can tell they re-worked it but they left in the awful scraping fax machine noise.

I'm d/c'ing every time I get him, and not bothering to play him. It's that headache-inducing for me. Am i in the minority here?

Honestly everyone should just d/c to ghostface untill BHVR address this issue properly and fixes it. I love playing ghostface but i refuse to play him untill they either fix the chase music..by fix i mean remove the constant repetative screeching not just change it by a minor amount. Or they add a volume control to chase music so we can turn it down.

As a killer i play with headphones so i can use audio ques to help me in a match such as locker openings, other survivors nearby, gen progress and multiple other areas were sounds are essential. With the chase music this loud and obnoxious it renders all the other sound ques pointless and hinders the killer no end.

  • Listening to them both I have no idea how they can allow this to go live. If they didnt have an idea on what to do to fix it then they should have just left it as default chase music. I love playing ghostface but im worried that because of this new chase music i'm not going to be able to play him now because of this quite frankly moronic change that the devs have seen as an acceptable change.

I don't wanna just bash on the devs but whoever decided this peice of music was acceptable is a moron and they need slapping

  • @Tsulan said:

Wasn´t it supposed to get toned down? Because its still incredible annoying to play GF with that sound.

Im still downloading the update so will have to check myself but yeah i thought they were supposed to tone down the chase music as it was legit giving people headaches to play him which is a big issue if this is still the case.

Honestly a simple volume control that players can set their own chase music levels would be better. I don't need an increadably loud noise in my ear just beacuse im behind a survivor. Given that killers rely on sounds just as much as visuals then chase music like this is such a big issue for killers more so than survivors.

FYI yes the chase music is still annoying for survivors.

    Should we have any info?

The RE chapter was exceptional because it was revealed by a third party.

PH was never flat-out teased beyond the 4, and even that dropped only when the event itself was teased.

Ghostface got leaked in a spectacular way.

Teasers start to happen when we're nearing the release, not the literal day of the mid-chapter dropping.

I'm not saying that there should be info the day of mid chapter but it seems strange that for potentially a big release given its the 6 year anniversary there has been 0 information that i can find given.

Do you have a legitimate source for this (not just DBD leaks or something) other wise your just spreading miss information.
