It the matchmaking that is the problem. Some players are good enough to compete against these teams. The problem is that they are matched with average players and they don't stand much of a chance.
-
I think everyone is at red ranks. At least for survivor.

The reverse works too, like how survivors use default cosmetics to bamboozle the killer (or just to actually get a match). They'll often get noticeably more cocky.
True and a good strategy too. To be honest, I avoid my P3 killer cosmetics if I don't feel particularly confident. My P3 Bouncy Boi wins zero games.
-
Intimidation.
It suggests you are so invested in the killer, they shouldn't try to bully you.
Although I have cosmetics on the Oni, and I can't do anything useful with him.

They preach for us to be grateful but they fail to understand that 10k can get you like 3 brown items lmaoo
10,000 is a large number though. 10,000 of anything is a lot right?
-
Meh, I've spoken to superior ex-trolls.
-
Good players can already make use of it. They don't have to waste time finding another survivor and they don't have to waste their team mates time healing them. It's also useful if you are the last survivor.

So you're basically saying you want to play easy mode and stomp solos? Okay I guess.
In the OP, @danielmaster87 said that playing solos was too easy and SWF was too hard. I don't think he WANTS to dodge the harder games, but from around rank 10, killers often have to verse full red rank SWFs - A complete mismatch.

A lot of people have the mentality of "oh these people are playing together? I've already lost". Always found that weird. It's like you're giving yourself permission to play badly because you think you can blame it on the game (don't get me wrong you can pin some of the blame on the game being BS because it is sometimes, but you can't blame SWF for the loss. Map RNG is probably the one thing you can still blame imo)
But on the other hand, good on them for accepting the SWF challenge in the first place. There have been plenty of matches where the survivors look like an SWF, smell like an SWF, they have a key, they play a Haddonfield offering, and I THINK I am guaranteed to lose.
And then I do lose.
-
And just for fun, let's see what the opinion was a year ago!:
Yes, we have learned nothing.
-
"Well PS5 was out of stock so we bought you a KFC console!"
Thanks Mom, I'm sure to not be bullied at school now.
-
If you ever watched A Christmas Carol, Mr Scrooge bought the Cratchett's a prize Turkey at the end. So you never know, maybe the Ghost of Computer Games Past visited the devs over the holidays.
-
It's a shame they couldn't pop up to the attic and bring their hook and generator christmas decorations down from a couple of years ago. And maybe throw in the occasional double blood point offering into the bloodweb.
Or just wrap Demo up in some Christmas lights. He'd like that.

For example, I played only freddy once and got the easiest 4k, then i played ghosty and got 1 hook, whe i switch back to freddy, its ok
You got an easy 4K with Freddy because you played Freddy. You only got 1 hook with Ghosty because you played Ghosty.

I'm sorry, but the entire concept of blaming the devs is like saying if the guy whose laptop I stole didn't want it stolen he shouldn't have left it on the table like that.
It's terrible rationale and I am not buying it.
If you aren't gonna return my laptop, can you at least clear my search history?
-
The question is: If it was half the price would twice as many people buy it? If it was a quarter of the price would four times as many people buy it.
I wish they would test the waters by putting a skin this good out really cheaply.

I have literally never faced a low rank player like this. Some of it is that I'm a high rank killer so I'm not getting matched with those players anymore, but still - my buddy will stream his rank 20 killer matches for me and the survivors he's been matched with have been nothing but adorable lil' potatoes.
I'm not trying to say that smurfs don't exist, just that it's clearly not rampant enough to be an issue. The game costs $20, so it's not like you can just make bunches of smurf accounts for free.
You can create accounts on console for free and they have access to the game and all the dlc.

Yeah, it's not ideal, but in a casual game I'd argue it beats discouraging people from playing with their friends who just bought the game. Killers usually benefit from rank disparity too given the benefit they get from removing a survivor from the match early, so I don't think it's such a big deal.
It's so impressive that these friends at rank 20 that have just bought the game know every window and pallet location, hug walls flawlessly and can flashlight save with perfect precision.
I guess they watched a Noob3 video on YouTube while they waited for the game to install.
-
It's a fun way to play those "break x gens/pallets" tome quests. I particularly like to use the fake uncloak strategy to get them off the gens or drop the pallets before kicking them.
-
I thought it was fine when I first started, although that was just after clown was released so it was a while back. Claudette and Meg both have perks suitable enough for beginners to play to some level of effectiveness. Old ruin was bullshit though as a beginner. I also felt that I was supposed to eventually lose as a survivor as I'd never seen any Yoube videos telling me that I was supposed to bully the killer. The inevitability of my eventual demise gave me comfort until I eventually managed my first escape.
I did my research for killer. I levelled up Leatherface and Hag so I had the two best beginner perks for killer. That was sufficient to do well. The first time I chased an Ace into the killer shack, he started pointing at me through the window. I thought I was doing something wrong so I turned around and left.
-
I grabbed a survivor off a gen today! Sorry I don't have video proof but it really honestly happened.

match making takes the central number, usually the killer's rank and populates the lobby with people that are plus or minus 6 ranks from the killer. now if you encounter a swf (group of friends) it supposedly takes the average of the people in the swf so two rank 1's and two rank 20's end up with the average of 9 for example. now if either side takes a while for a match up the system then starts changing the match window by increasing the size of it till a match can be found. what that wait time frame is no one has said though.
I beleive they reverted SWF matchmaking back to the original behaviour so you are now matched with the LOWEST rank SWF survivor to improve lobby times. If I jump into a red rank SWF with my rank 16 survivor, we get rank 14-16 killers. If I don't joing the SWF, they get rank 1-7 killers.

Apparently I am expected to be as good as all those people you just mentioned; because the game makes me play against them. I die immediately.
The way DBD works is that you basically curb stomp or get curb stomped; some people get so good like a lot of those major streamers they 4k like 50 games in a row and are almost unstoppable. That's basically all you can do.
You can't play DBD and expect to have fair matches each match basically, due to serious flaws in the matchmaker/ranking systems in this game, you HAVE to play like thousands of hours and dedicated yourself to really learning killer OR be okay with absolutely crippling losses in which you can do nothing.
In a perfect world, where DBD's matchmaker and Ranking was designed intelligently and there was a robust player volume, you could queue up, regardless of your skill, and get people at least in the ball park so that win or lose, 4k or 4 escape, it felt relatively close and action packed for everyone involved....that is not how DBD works unfortunately.
My average kills probably is 2 per game. Unforunately the average is made up from half the games where I destroy everybody because they are yellow rank solos, and the other half where the suvivors leave me crying next to the exit gate that I ended up opening myself.

Thats exactly the point. So while i think they will fix the matchmaking, im not so optimistic that they can balance it for every skill level. Its really hard to achieve.
If matchmaking ever gets fixed, the biggest difficulty for the weaker players will be access to locked perks. To win easily as killer, you need Ruin, Undying and Tinkerer. That's three killers you need to unlock and level up (one locked behind DLC (or two depending on your format).
When new rank 15 Trappers with 1 perk are facing teabagging, flashlight-clicking red rank SWFs with the full suite of meta-perks and comms to hand, that's really rough.
-
Moris artificially inflated killers win ratio statistics. Now that they have effectively been removed from the game we have have to earn those wins using skill and strategy. We will now win fewer games, but at least the wins will be deserved. If the devs look at the post Mori-nerf statstics, they can look at rebalancing without one of the free win elements confusing matters.
Hopefully SWFs exploiting their 60 seconds of immortality perk will be addressed next.
-
My eyes!
-
Yes, why should everybody "git gud"? Bad players and new players should be allowed to enjoy the game. As long as the devs can get match making in order, and they try to balance across all skill levels we should be able to have a bit of a moan about certain perk combinations, SWFs or Spirit without being told everything is fine, you're just bad.
-
It was a little disappointing. It is after all, Frosty Twins not Frosty Twin.
Perhaps Victor will develop frosty eyes when he is older.
-
If I play SWF with Mrs JawsIsTheNextKiller (in the same room), my PC's load bar fills up quicker and then "waits" for her PS4 to load up. We both start the game within 1 second of eachother and can move at roughly the same time.
Those survivors that don't move immediately might just be finishing typing their post on the forums like I am right now.
-
To answer the original question, that there seems to be more Noed LATELY, there is a current Tome mission to hook people after the EGC. NoEd makes this challenge easier: Not only is it easier to down the survivors at the end of the game, you are also running most of the trial with only 3 perks making it that little bit harder and making EGC more likely.
-
I'd like Pallet Freddy to be the only Freddy. Give those Dream Snares to a future killer that wouldn't be as able to sneak up on people so well. I don't want snares to be gone forever as I think they have a place on a killer with inferior map presence.
-
You have to see Dead by Daylight like a boxing match. The Entity is not the referee nor is it the judges. It is the crowd. If the Entity had just spent $15 on your Pay-Per-View DBD match and it ended in 3 minutes because you dominated, you wouldn't be surprised if it was displeased. Don't worry, you still won, but the Entity will be spending it's $15 elsewhere next time.
-
Oh I like the idea of Merry Moris! Would they have a Santa hat?

The issue is that not a lot of people, compared to other complaints, have this issue right now... Not lots of next Gen console share complaints so far, however when more people get new consoles and realize this, then It'll be fixed. I haven't played cuz I'm bummed AF though, And I was so excited for DBD on ps5... :-(
Yes unfortunately in my country. People either have zero PS5s, or 3500 PS5s.

Agreed nothing worse than loading into a match, knowing killer had a mori, and that you're more than likely to be tunneled off first hooked and killed, ruins the game. Especially when in an swf, then you have to sit there and wait for your friends, to either win the match, or inevitably meet the same end as you, I love the nerf, like seriously now the match can be properly played, and if you're someone whining about this, then you're part of that toxic issue that brought on the change, and now you can't win matches in just 10 to 15 minutes, now you actually have to play a proper game, so go watch orzdarva and learn how to play properly or watch dowsey.
I was with you there right until you said you were in an SWF!
-
Now if Moris worked as before but only against those that brought keys, abused DS or were in an SWF that would be balanced!
-

Few days shy of a month and this is still an ongoing issue.
Is there any way to raise a ticket with Sony? If the store offers products that you have bought but can't be accessed and can't be bought because you apparently have them, they might be able to convince BHVR that this should be expedited.
-
I expected this. But I also expected it to come with a huge bloodpoint bonus for successfully using one. Hopefully they just forgot to mention it in the notes.
There needs to be a point to bringing Moris or they will simply never be seen again.
-
It's refreshing to see survivor mains take a break from being toxic to killers by being toxic to their team-mate who abandoned their gen, ran the full length of the map, risking life and limb, only to self-unhook in their face.
Very refreshing.
-
The stats may be flawed anyway. Killer players that didn't rely on bloodlust would have played as normal. Killer players that did have to rely on bloodlust were likely to either switch to survivor or play killers such as Spirit who don't need bloodlust.
This may falsely suggest that average-skilled players are not relying on bloodlust.

SWFs actually love Moris and NoEd as they appreciate the challenge. Probably.

One of my kids asked why there was a baby in DBD too. I told him he is now banned from the forums. He stared at me blankly.
-
I play on both, so am I a better player when I am on the PC?
-
I'd like meta perks to be nerfed rather than removed, but do it in balanced pairs so it isn't just a "punish killer mains like JawsIsTheNextKiller who are a bit rubbish" weekend. e.g. :
- Make DS last 30 seconds
- Make Hex Undying only regenerate Ruin once.
-
I would definitely check you don't have a disc in the drive and see how it is on other games. Also consider that some high end graphics cards can have a coil whine and the PS5 would qualify as having one. You might be experiencing that.
You might have to send it back to the scalper.
