Yeah, it happens to me when I get a camper playing solo Q. Even though I know it's risky I still want to try and help the guy being camped to give him at least a chance to play the game. But whenever it's me I just want to desperately tell my teammates not to engage lol
It's a different story if I'm playing SWF, whoever gets camped will just die on the hook. No exceptions. Just let the others know you are being camped and it's gen simulator for the next minutes. No hard feelings.
I don't know what happened to the old "raise your hands on hook to let them know the killer is camping", I wish that was a thing again xD
Yes, you will win like that but to me, it just pains me to see a teammate not having a chance, so I will die trying.
I guess camping is a winning strategy against me XD

@Marc_123 said:
It works.
Because most survs don´t do their gens as they should. And that is totally their fault.
Therefore it is a very solid strategy. Even if it is boring.
It works because, believe it or not, there are actual people behind survivors who may feel bad for a teammate being unable to play due to a massive overlook in the game design.
When I am in that situation I will normally try to save my teammate, it will cost me the match but I will still try because it is the decent thing to do, it is not about winning, it is about trying to give a person the chance to play the videogame.
It is beyond absurd that camping and tunneling are still in the game, especially with bubba or trickter bypassing even BT

"Either suffer or actually throw matches"
It's a design flaw. Why should players be punished for that?
I don't think anyone is having fun atm. I'm still getting a ton of people I shouldn't be getting.
Also, we love the "You're good, so ######### you, you don't get a fun experience."
Mate, if you are at streamer level, or superior, as a killer you used to stomp 4 other people regularly, and you probably are at that kind of performance level since you are still 4king regularly.
Why are 4 survivors (4 people) supposed to be stomped by a superior opponent so they (1 person) can have fun? No matter how you slice it, it doesn't make sense.
I (average player) never had fun when I versed people like True or Otz because it was like comparing an amateur boxer with prime Mike Tyson.
You seem to be at that level, since only the top tier of players have kept their performance comparable to before with MMR so what do you expect? Stomp 4 people and make their day miserable or play with people who, like you, also try to win at all costs?
Top tier players are the vast minority, it makes sense for the average players (the majority) to have chill matches.
This is exactly what is happening to me and my friends, if we play survivors we have relatively ok games with an escape rate of 40-50% (this has improved after my inital period with a 5% for the first 3 weeks of mmr) and if I play killer (Legion btw) I only aim to get as many BP as I can and 4 bbq stacks, if I 4 k fine, if I 0 k and get my BBq fine too and I am averaging 2.23 kills per game on a sample of 50 legion games.
I don't want to play against top tier player like you, sorry!

My win rate has stayed functionally the same.
I am not having fun.
Saying it's about 4K's is a strawman argument at best.
your experience is irrelevant to the game balance, there is a very high chance that the people your were versing before the mmr were NOT having fun either.
And since your win rate is similar, you are probably sweating quite a lot so it is better that you have less fun than you stomping people who were just trying to cool off. Go and play with the competitive sweat squad so that the average player can have fun matches, or do as I did don't care about kills, play the same and have fun regardless of the result

If playing killer is so easy, then how come I see so many killers quitting, killer quitting threads and posts, and survivor queues getting incredibly long? I have yet to see a single "Im quitting survivor" post, and you CANNOT tell me that survivors are not little whinny brats, who complain about everything.
Killers are, supposedly, quitting because they were used to easy 4ks most matches. Now that they are competing with people who sweat as much as they do, they are crying. Abysmal!
-
@YOURFRIEND said:
It's not about winning, it's about having less to worry about in a given game so that they're not incredibly stressful every single time. This is partially SBMM's fault.
Just accept you can't 4k every game anymore, easy 4ks are gone. If you did that your dbd life would be much easier, like mine is
-
- The artist: she is absolutely unfun, with zero interaction with the survivor.
- Twins: just spam victor for easy slugs, abysmal experience
- Exploit Blight (93% of them) he is everywhere, it doesn't matter where you hide, they can still turn and hit you. Absolutely garbage killer to face
These are the worst for me
-
@AngyKiller said:
It seems to be part of the Survivor Bible that survivors use the word 'Unfun' when they want a Killer nerfed.
Probably because they're aware that saying 'Nerf Artist because I hate her' is not a valid reason, so they hide behind the ever-useful smokescreen of 'Fun', and hope the devs will fall for it.
What else would you expect? This game requires 5 people, if 4 people are not having fun facing a certain situation that situation needs to be changed. Survivors' players are 80% of the players in a trial, if 80% of your player base is not having fun when playing the videogame, there is an intrinsic problem with the mechanic.
The artist, in most loops, offers no skillful counterplay. In most cases you are forced to leave the loop, get hit and get as much distance as possible. This is boring, and I frankly don't understand why this is even a thing. Most of the recent killers have destroyed killer-survivors interaction, the Artist is probably the worst offender of the lot. She needs to changed whether you like it or not she is not healthy for the game
-
@dallasmedicbag said:
Why is this still a thing? Just let the survivor on second hook stage stay on the hook until the timer runs out, so that it will at least buy the other teammates some time to do objectives. Too many of these randoms screw over their teammates just because they're getting facecamped by a bubba, and that just rewards bad gameplay from the killer. It's only around a minute, just get over it man.
It should be that the only time where you're allowed to "let go" is when you're one of the two survivors left and the last survivor needs hatch if they're getting chased.
Well perhaps the whole hook mechanic should be reconsidered.
Whatever happens during the hook situation is a major issue point for survivors.
Camping and tunnelling are both linked to a mechanic that is quite frankly boring and annoying. Nothing is more annoying in dbd than being camped or being tunnelled out of a game.
I always thought that it would be much easier to be downed and lose a life, die and respawn somewhere the killer cannot down you right away so you can get the chance to reset and restart your match.
Imagine you lose a life, you are dead and you respawn in a room outside of the map. Some lockers flash white on the map and your fellow survivor can go and open one of the lockers and pull you out and back in the game.
You eliminate hooks to remove the two most hated tactic in the game, then you test what happens and buff/debuff killers accordingly.
This will never happen :)

I would say Artist is more like Doctor than Pyramid Head. Both she and Doctor has excellent long range tracking and zoning at loops but have no movement ability. Pyramid Head also has zoning at loops but his tracking isn’t nearly as good as those two and his ability to Cage or Execute survivors is unique.
Now whether you think Artist is better than Doctor, that’s the question. 🤷♂️
I played several matches on the PTB as the Artist, plus I played extensively in KYF around many weak and strong loops. I think her zoning feels a lot like pyramid head forcing lose/lose situations on the survivor.
I think she is better than doctor, she can shut down jungle gyms so easily, but I am open to change my mind in the future. I think she is very strong

No worries, I was actually intending to agree with you with that post but in a roundabout way.
Sadly I didn't pay enough attention to the word choice and format, so the sarcasm wasn't communicated as well as it could have been.
To be more blunt, I do agree with your comparisons and think it is kinda funny in hindsight.
---
Also, even if you don't include it, I do personally consider Legion a male just because the team leader is one and think Plague is by leagues stronger.
That said, Susie for life.
Susie is the best :)
-
@jesterkind said:
...Are Nurse/Blight and Artist/Pyramid Head really that comparable? Same for Spirit/Wraith, if I'm honest, there's only one real direct comparison on this list.
Nurse and Blight are the two top killers
Artist and Pyramid head function similarly at loops so I think it is fair

Your 'positivity doesn't matter, just like my negativity doesn't.
and even so? I can still be happy that a bunch of people, a tiny minority, tried their best to attack BHVR and DBD and they failed and the game I like is doing very well, close to its all time peak

Hope you have fun with the game.

Don't question my right to literally just turn off the game and come back when they balance it out. The devs need me the main killer, not the casual survivor, I am the reason the game is even still in play all killers are the reason and it's ironic they think survivors are the one's buying outfits, I hardly see them use addons let alone "cash" to buy a costume for a game they play "casually" if I can endure the aggravation and or boredom of the boons I may think of it.
sure, we will see the steam numbers once the event drops :)

Maybe it's finally time to contact the news website over all those broken promises and lies over the years.
This is just the typical internet rage of the cancel culture, it won't change anything. It's just a storm that will disappear once a new outrage starts.
I just find funny that BHVR has always been a champion of inclusivity and diversity and that now they are getting "destroyed" over one mistake; it is like everyone forgets the support BHVR has ALWAYS given to minorities.
I will support dbd until it is a game that gives me enjoyment, when it will cease to do so I will quit.
And I am sure the majority will play this event. If I am wrong, I shall admit it obviously

unfortunately no, we are too many on the planet already. Caring about the environment is directly connected to a massive population reduction. But no one wants to do that.

Eh, I can understand the OP. I was exactly in his position prior to MMR. I had a death streak of 17 games, then I escaped one, followed by another streak of 16 deaths.
I am playing this game since console release day and while I'm not the most talented player, before they started muddying up the rank system my solo escape rate was usually between 75-85%, so while I lost some games because I did something stupid, it's unlikely all those games were my fault.
Interestingly, MMR works for me (I'm probably somewhere in the middle since I rarely encounter any tryhard killers anymore which were previously in almost every game). I get good teammates and challenging killers, so far I'm happy with the win/loss ratio, in fact I win more again than I lose, and the games are more fun and thrilling on average than before, even if I lose, so I don't mind the occasional bad game not thet much anymore.
Sadly it doesn't seem to work for the OP.
I heard that some people have a really good experience with it, it might be region related? I am in UK, EU servers how about you?

Regarding the pip thing: I think it takes about 10 pips (maybe even less, not sure) from Ash IV to Ash II, and you can pip with only 9 emblem points. Also in the old system you couldn't lose a pip in grey ranks (I don't know if they changed that with the grades though) so I don't think Op's Grade contradicts their story. To me only earning 10 pips in allegedly 23 games in grey ranks kinda supports Op's story because that is not a good quote.
Imo the video that OP posted shows pretty clearly what the problem is: Op's teammates, who are obv not on the same level.
Also, good for you, that your matches are going better but I don't see how that's supposed to help OP.
Same here, I didn't pip a lot because I died quickly in most matches, and I didn't show the previous match because I played like garbage and I lost ALL my chases to a tunneling, yet competent Legion and I was embarrassed to show it hahahah
Tbh I don't see why I should lie about me having my butt whopped left and right XD and I am not even against the MMR system, I just want to have a bit more fun when playing dbd and manage to escape at least 1-2 times during my 7/8 daily matches.
It isn't really unreasonable and it is always been like that in the past

Problem is clearly the survivors you are matched with. They don't do gens... When you finished the first one, 2 other gens should have popped seconds after or before.
Your are playing with baby survivors unfortunately.
For looping, an advice, go more against walls at the shack and jungle gym, you can "slide" against it, less distance to loop.
It is my impression as well, gens are never popping.
For the looping: thank you :) you are right, I need to improve the pathing. It is just that sometimes I try to slide on a structure and it's like it is sticky and it slows me down and it annoys me when it happens hahhah
