I just don't agree. You can't make a big change and after a fortnight be like "this did/didn't work". Usually you are only going to see such a quick turnaround in response if they really put their foot in in and it seriously hurt the company socially or financially. As I mentioned above you can't just rely on what you see posted in forums and on Twitter as validation of what is happening. People who actually post probably make up between 1-2% of the playerbase. I've seen this with many, many games. People are like "well everyone on the forum is saying X, Y & Z" forgetting online participation only makes up a very small percentage of the playerbase.

They haven't been entirely silent either I've seen Mandy address this subject a few times on here. I would be shocked to see much more than this so early after.

Online response is also one of the few ways to determine the response of an audience.

I cannot think of any one company that when faced with a pushback like this hadn't released an official statement.

This could even be "we think this is the right way forward for dbd so you need to accept it" so people can decide what they want to do.

Even if it was only the 1-2% of the player base this is still VERY significant and VERY vocal, to an extent that never happened with DBD.

I can only compare this with the pushback that amazon is getting for rings of power, and that got already massive reshooting

BHVR: "KIll Rates are really low so we're making survivor harder"

Survivor players" *Surprised Pikachu when the patch releases and Survivor is harder*

Also I'm watching kill rates and they're going up but not to anything too crazy it's not even as high as when Freddy was the most hated thing in existence but survivors weren't complaining then so idk what happened.

Do you want to bet that if they released the real, without any doctoring, kill rates they were at least at 50% before this patch?

They DECIDED to boost kill rates, and the pushback is really strong. This CANNOT be ignored, it would be a PR disaster to ignore this kind of feedback.

"Can we get an official statement? are the devs happy with the situation, or is something being done soon?"

I think you'll find most businesses that implement changes usually like to wait for the dust to settle before announcing how things went. Regardless of how you or I feel about the changes, we know people usually do react negative to and resist change. You need some time to weed out the people who are just pushing back to the fact that there is changes and give some time to indently the genuine issues.

Not for this kind of pushback, this is the biggest pushback I have ever seen in DBD.

Being quiet and weathering the storm is not the right call here, hiding and waiting is not the right call.

At this stage i would be happier for them to come out and say if they are ok with the results of the changes and the feedback.

  • @Mandy said:

This last mid chapter patch was a big one, there were a lot of changes made including base changes. We are very well aware that it is going to take time for this to settle down and it's something that we are continually monitoring and if we see the need to make changes to things further down the line - that's something we will do.

However, we're not making knee jerk reactions here - if we do see things that we know are going to be an issue of high importance we will of course make changes in the planned Hotfixes, there might also be further changes made down the line depending on how things play out once players have had time to adjust to a lot of the recent changes.

Dead by Daylight is a Live game, it's continually evolving and changes made based on this. The plan of this update was to increase kill rates as those were lower than we would like. It will take some time to fully see the extent of the changes made, players adapt etc. This update and the after effects of this update is definitely something we are monitoring closely.

I understand you need to speak the PR language, although it is very clear that this patch did NOT have the results that you were expecting. Time is at the essence of making the right call and not responding to the feedback provided is not a good sign.

I know you can just report back to the rest of team, but still NOT acknowledging the response that the majority of your player base is giving you is not fair.

Thats not whats happening? Turn on any streamer and count how often survivors suicide on first hook. You´ll be surprised how many it is. Like literally every single streamer is complaining about this. So it isn´t just a couple of people that sabotage the game.

DbD has been stressful for killers since the MMR started. When killers complained, they got just a "git gud" or "just take 4 slowdowns for a ez win" as response. Now survivors are feeling the same stress killers did.

Appease the larger player base? Devs have done nothing else for years. Killers always got the short end of the stick and now, that survivors received for once the short end, they demand changes at gun point?

I can't understand how you don't see that if the majority is unhappy with some changes that something needs to be done, then we can discuss what could be done, but as it stands this patch is NOT a success in any way shape or form like you claimed.

You may like it, and I am happy if you do, but this patch has created lots of problems, which I may try to break down for you:

There are 3 main areas of survivor gameplay:

1 gens -> this area has been made slower and more boring + combine this with slowdowns it is a disaster (net survivor experience got worse)

2 chases -> this is arguably the best area of dbd but this patch made chases faster and more hopeless for survivors. Especially mega bloodlust 3 coming quicker COMBINED with slower gens is just a death sentence (net survivor experience got worse)

3 rescuing and healing -> possibly the biggest issue. Longer gens made camping stronger, super STBFL even more. If you are camped as a survivor you are not playing the game, it is annoying and a boring experience (net survivor experience got worse)

The survivor experience got worse in every area, how is this in any way, shape or form a success?

Plus a lot of killers, not all, got meaner with more slowdowns and more camping. This was NOT intended, at least in the words of Mccote during the stream about this patch.

Something needs to be done, and even if, let's say it is all survivors not wanting to adapt like you say, fine it doesn't change the fact that survivors are finding their experience way worse and this is not a smart move.

Finally I agree with you, if they just deleted DH, nerfed endgame DS and removed MMR completely (or maybe never introduced it) the game would be better.

I think MMR was the beginning of DBD's decline and it needs to go

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3099448#Comment_3099448

The issue why survivors are unhappy is mainly other survivors. That sabotage the game in the hope that the devs roll the patch back. Ruining the game for everyone.

Lets say for a second, that the devs actually give in. That they roll the patch back. That killers get the short end of the staff once again, like so many times. What do you think, how killer players would react?

You are trying to reduce the problem to other survivors being bad, that's not what is happening. The patch was made under the assumption that by making gens slower and chases faster killers would play easier builds and avoid camping, tunneling and slowdowns, this did NOT happen.

A lot of people are GENUINELY disliking the patch and this is a problem. You cannot ignore the response the patch is having, some could be cry babies fine, but not everyone, and I have never seen such a response in this forum where killers supporters, like you, are very vocal.

A solution needs to be found, this patch is not a solution when the majority is annoyed so something needs to give.

From a business perspective, it makes more sense to appease your larger player base that is now, largely, very unhappy.

I am 100% sure the devs are panicking and looking into a solution right this moment because they were not expecting this kind of response

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3097730#Comment_3097730

The patch wanted to achieve 3 things:

    1. grind reduction = fail
    2. break up the meta = success
    3. increase kill rates = success

Now what we do with this patch, well survivor used to be the chill role and has become more challenging. Many people didn´t like that, so they started to ruin the game for everyone else out of spite. What we will end up with? Honestly, no idea. Skilled players have no issue as solo survivors. But will the not so skilled ones buckle up and try harder or will they continue to ruin the game for themselves and everyone else?

Come on man, I know you are fanatical about protecting killers but calling this patch a success when a large number of the majority of the player base (survivors) are unhappy with the changes is a stretch even for you.

This patch is the most complained about I have ever seen and I have been playing DBD since November 2018.

No matter what you think, you ALSO can see the response to the patch and it is bad, just admit it.

You like the patch, you like killers to be in control and powerful, that's fine and I accept that, but calling a patch a success when it is strongly despised by a large amount of the player base is just wrong.

This is a PR disaster comparable with the rings of power on amazon prime (with smaller numbers obviously)

  • It is a terrible patch for survivors (the vast majority) that is gatekept by the killer zealots on the forum.

Everyone can see that the patch is controversial and it is causing a lot of complaints even on this killer-sided forum.

I completely disagree with this. For the grand majority of killers with the majority of builds they would not be able to handle high level swfs. Now with all the buffs and nerfs I feel its closer to balanced.

No, the devs arbitrarily buffed killer to try and combat the decline of dbd. In doing so they created the worst patch ever and made the experience for a survivor terrible.

These changes (some of them) will be reverted, this is 100% GUARANTEED. They are annoying their golden goose (80%) of the players in a match.

And survivors are having any of it, and they are finally rising up even in a killer-sided environment like this forum.

If never introduced MMR (worst idea ever) and created an environment where you have to sweat all the time this mess would have never happened.

They just needed to delete dead hard and COH, remove DS from endgame, tune down blight and rework nurse and DBD would have been a different game, but they decided to borrow a page out of the complaints from killers on the forum and here we are, we got dbd in the worst spot.

I understand the desire to try to gatekeep this patch because now killer feels unstoppable, but it ain't going to work. I have never seen survivors so upset EVERYWHERE.

  • @AngryHobo2 said:

I know your pain as a fellow solo survivor player. I play both roles, but given queue times I tend to play survivor now.

The main issue with solo queue is that the game punishes you harder than it did before for mistakes. Now by itself that statement is fine. However, this is the DBD community we're talking about here. Between rage-quits, accidental disconnections, noobs that accidentally suicide on hook, and a plethora of other issues, a LOT of players do not play well. Some players can play well and choose to harass the killer all game instead of pulling their own weight with the objective. This leads to the natural following issue.

You could be doing everything right as a solo queue survivor, but then because your teammates keep screwing up, you all lose. Now this is how the game is supposed to work. It's an asymmetrical game, the team of 4 is required to play well to beat the team of 1. The main issue with this is that Solo Q has almost no base tools to communicate. Solo Q has almost no tools to coordinate saves and objectives so you just have to trust that the random players are doing smart plays.

And if you have so little faith that you teammates are making good decisions and actually helping you, well, there's always killer.

very true , it has been very rough :(

I've never known of them ever reverting anything. There is no hope for that.

I think survivors are to blame for the constant nerfs because they continue playing an unbalanced game.

I don't know Sluzzy, they reverted the pallet/flashlight stun very quickly back in the days and the storm was less than what it is right now. I can't see BHVR continuing with this nonsense when the vast majority (survivors) are so unhappy about the game.

I am expecting a quick change to this nonsense, if not I will stop playing for a while

    Nurse yes.

Blight needs some Add Ons nerfed. But his Basekit is fine. Blight is at least playing DBD, while Nurse basically plays a totally different game.

sure that also works. I just normally lose to blight so I hate versing him. But I am happy to just get nurse reworked

  • @Sluzzy said:

Why would you play survivor knowing it is that badly imbalanced? I genuinely would like to know.

eh Sluzzy, because the queue times for killer are too long so I either play survivor or I don't play the game, but I am too addicted !

But yes, if I don't see some quality of life changes THIS week I will give up

  • Nurse and blight need a complete rework, as they stand they are just too strong

Their PR narrative was not received well as it contradicted factual mathematics. Their only options are to cover their ears, double down, and shout that it is better, or to completely ignore that there's still conversation happening about it.

So buckle up and get ready for a midchapter patch where absolutely nothing is done to touch this issue.

Holy cow... I am so upset about the grind I played 2000 hours of this game and there is so much I am still missing.

I have never seen a company like this one

  • @Slowpeach said:

Oh and something ‘funny’ that everyone is going to just love the new system for unless they make it work differently.

Anyone who’s got a level 50 character and wants to buy something for them when this update hits?

    ITS TAX TIME!

you tell me... I only have Nancy prestiged, no other survivor. I never thought it was worth it but most of my survivors are level 50 with most perks... paying 50k each is just a tragedy

  • More days have passed and still no response after the OP prove that the rebuttal from Peanits was not accurate.

    What is BHVR doing?

The grind is absolutely terrible and this update is just not sufficient.

Can we have a legitimate response?

  • Can we have some official statements?

The math proved that the grind, is AT BEST 50% better if you optimise all the steps but ON AVERAGE way less than that.

Plus we are losing the BP bonus from BBQ and WGLF and there is a prestige tax to pay (pretty hefty 50.000 BP which are roughly 2.7 of my average survivor games)

So the best 50% is way less.

Is BHVR going to do something concrete to address these problems?

The grind is unbearable and it needs to be PROPERLY addressed

  • @DeadByCommunity said:

Nurse is hard to Master/Learn on all platforms an is one of the few strongest killers in the game. Imo there isn't that many nurses or good ones at that. I go against at least 1 everyday but it's not that bad. Besides out of the 28 killers she is 1 of the few good ones next to blight vs 4 people with 16 perks combine an outnumber by offerings if they bring maps.

You can still have a good killer who doesn't break the rules of the game.

Nurse can be strong, but in line with the current rules.

You cannot have a killer who can, largely, ignore maps. She can be as good as blight, or spirit, but her current skillset is game breaking and it needs to go.

  • @OldHunterLight said:

Neither exhaustion perks, gen progression perks.

The fact that nurse still bugs out in 2022 and people still ask for nerfs on her is funny.

She is one of the only ones that can counter "modern" dbd where everything is hold W pre drop pallet, you want less killer players.

Nurse is nowhere near where she once was and you should know that since you started with legion.

Her blinks still bug, sometimes because a branch is on the way you still blink in place, you look up near the basement and you still go to it.

exhaustion and gen progress perks can go too, hopefully they will (with exception of head-on because it is nowhere near the others)

See? what you just said literally confirms the point "She is one of the only ones that can counter "modern" dbd where everything is hold W pre drop pallet, you want less killer players."

If the new dbd is holding W, you cannot have in the game something which completely counters that, it does not make any sense. Holding W is the direction of the game, destroying the direction of the game with a killer from 2016 doesn't make sense.

She cannot ignore most physics of modern DBD, she needs to respect the map rules like everyone else, see blight, or spirit.

  • The grind needs to be 1/10 of what it is PLUS the hook mechanic with its camping and tunnelling needs to disappear

  • @Hoodied said:

So I wanted to bring up their add-ons (You can probably guess a combo that I am going to mention in here)

    But lets begin

    Legion's new downing ability

Legion can down in frenzy now!.....sometimes.....only under certain circumstances

I like the idea of Feral Frenzy being able to down someone on the 5th slash, but from what I noticed, I never really reached the 5th slash in my games as the survivors were too far away and I got jebaited by the mixtape add-ons (Susie's mixtape increases the Killer Instinct range by 20 meters, giving me a 60 meter killer instinct) but when I played without it...I am pretty sure I never got a situation where all survivors were within stabbing distance to get this to activate so I usually just played like I was playing normal legion (but hey atleast the new fatigue cooldown feels good)

And if you kill one survivor this part of your power will almost never happen (unless you use a certain add-on combo, which I will bring up next) so it kinda feels like it was only added to help legion get atleast 1 kill

    Legion's add-ons

Mural Sketch and Never Sleep Pills is a little ridiculous, thats me trying to not make it seem as bad as it is because we don't want negativity

But this add-on combo when I used it for 1 game reminded me of launch Legion...cause I made 2 people disconnect, but the fact that I managed to get into the 4th stab state as often as I did that game was ridiculous, I honestly stopped questioning why people were dead harding to make me not down them in frenzy

According to the wiki, Legion at base can only frenzy for 10 seconds, Never Sleep Pills increases this by 10 but at the price of losing .6 m/s (So you move at basic killer movement speed if you don't stab anyone, but you have a 20 second frenzy), in theory you are doubling how long you are frenzying, at 4 stabs without Mural Sketch you move at 5.4 m/s, which is .2 m/s faster than original m/s, but with Mural Sketch, this gets absurd. it increases it to .3 m/s per stab, at a max of 1.2 m/s, making you move at 5.8, which would originally be the 3rd stab in frenzy, but the problem with this is that you are moving at 5.8 m/s for 20 seconds, so if the survivors don't dodge your frenzy they'll go down as you will most definitely always catch up to them, which is what I did in the game I played with it, I always caught up to them but couldn't down them due to Dead Hard as I didn't try to predict dead hard. This combo is way too strong for it to be two uncommon add-ons, however the other problem is that without this combo you really can't activate this secondary ability as often and it sorta just makes the only real buff to Legion be the m/s boost for frenzying, all the other add-ons are fun to use which I am happy about, its just look into ONLY never sleep pills (Make it to where you can infinitely stack the m/s bonus but you can't down survivors with frenzy pls I wanna break the sound barrier hehe), Mural Sketch is fine, its just NSP causing problems

These are the only things I really wanted to complain about, keep it civil in the comments and lastly

I am both kidding and not kidding about the infinitely stacking m/s

yes this combo needs to be addressed and I am sure the devs will eventually adjust the overbuffs soon. No one wants something as boring as the old legion back.

They just need to change their power

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2932964#Comment_2932964

If that’s the case, looping should be removed from the game because it’s repetitive, boring and tedious for most killers.

Legion is only boring when you’re with a group who don’t know how to counter him. Had a match yesterday where my teammates didn’t know what Discordance was and kept revealing their locations. I was able to do three gens, lose him in chase multiple times cleanse three totems and deny him a chain hit several times because I’d just start running before he could make it to me (and lithe helped).

Many times, it’s really not the killer I have issues with when playing solo. It’s the idiot teammates.

I agree, looping, camping, tunnelling and gen rushing are ALL aspects that should be removed. This has nothing to do with how boring are games with the new legion.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2933050#Comment_2933050

You are one of the people who think that all Survivors are stupid, am I right?

    @Topic:

Yes, Legion needs a change. They buffed them and they were in need of a change. However, Legion needs a complete Rework. With their current power they will never be a good Killer.

Currently the only thing what Legion does is set you back into Mending as often as possible while running at least 3 Slowdown-Perks, which drags the game out to 15-20 minutes. And at this point, they have it quite easy, because most ressources will be gone, so downing someone as an M1-Killer is more than possible at this point.

I am honestly back to the point where I just want to give up against Legion. Gens take 96 seconds due to 4 Thana-Stacks, more M1-Pressing due to Mending and the progress you got will be wiped away with Pain Resonance and/or PGTW. It is not like the games are difficult or that new Legion is too oppressive per se. But their ability to drag every game out to such an extend makes the games really, really boring and I would rather prefer to face some Nurse or Blight who end the game in 5 minutes.

Thank you Aven, this is exactly my point. This new Legion feels like the OG one in the sense that you just want to give up and go to the next match hoping it's not Legion again. It is unhealthy

  • @KateDunson said:

For how is legion now i think they should just get rid of mending, a frenzy hit should injure the survivors and that's it

I was thinking the same. This mending situation is just ridiculous. It is not fun gameplay, versing current legion is like sitting on a cactus for hours.

Just injure survivors and thats it

  • @Cyanide2817 said:

Idk, I feel like they're more rewarding to play now and still just as easy to counteract. I would say they're sat in their sweet spot right now because I still have fun facing and playing as legion and I still win and lose playing as and against them.

They might be ok strength wise but they have recreated a similar situation of OG Legion. You can't have a killer that just want to make you disconnect. This is what I feel when going against this version of Legion.

When I play as them I can clearly see the frustration in the survivor camp. It is not healthy

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Thing is, adaptation is a thing that usually needs to occur when playing against different Killers. Deathslinger has deep wounds built into his gun but it’s purely an additional thing that just helps waste a little survivor time if you let them go or lose them on purpose.

Legions entire power is deep wounds, that’s why it’s so prevalent. It’s a time wasting mechanic for a Killer that can mostly only M1 for downs unless they are lucky enough (or use certain add-ons) to get 5 stabs.

You do not heal against Legion, period. You ONLY heal if you have fast healing items that make it worth it. You split up as far as possible and deny as many chains as you can, therefore cutting down mending time.

Legion has counter play, it’s just harder than it was before because Legion now actually has the opportunity to get consistent chain hits.

Against Legion, mending essentially is healing, it’s just shorter and in more frequent bursts. I recommend Iron Will, Spine Chill and Resilience for stealth and gen speed, as focusing on gens is the best thing to do against them.

They do not need nerfed, they are fine.

not necessarily being nerfed, that's not what I said. I said they need to be changed. I can't see the point of a continuous stream of mending when I play as a survivor.

If the purpose is to slow the game down, a repetitive boring action is not the right thing to do and Legion is not balanceable with the current power.

And to clarify how the SBMM is working : it is a 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1, all players are from equal level, it means that each survivor is able to 1v1 you during 1 to 2 minutes. As a killer you cannot win especially with all killers that are weak at pallets.

and yet kill rates are over 50% and most matches end up with a 2k plus so your story doesn't add up.

You are almost guaranteed a 2k with camping and tunnelling, especially with a one-shot killer. Camp and tunnel if you wish to win.

Killers are winning left and right but since they are not having easy matches anymore and they have to try they are complaining.

Just want to state, I do not enjoy versing weak players.

I enjoy PVP and like the challenge. I used to play perkless OG Freddy in red ranks for "fun"

most killers understand this is PVP, and we like challenge.

well if you do I see no problem with MMR, take your challenge and verse your equals.

I love the soul games and I don't complain about the king of storm being stronger than me, I get better and I beat it.

DBD is the same, the time for easy 4Ks is gone

Before SBMM and some changes (boons, DH server validation etc...) there were way less camping and tunneling. But the META, decided by the survivors, just brought more and more toxicity.

Killers cannot win if all survivors are using META perks + broken items. It is the way it is.

    That is very UNTRUE.

Before MMR killers could win most matches playing fair, that meant that they could beat most teams when playing at 70/75% their true capacity, with the occasional SWF team to beat them.

That was clearly a problem since you are not supposed to win consistently when not playing at your full potential.

MMR came into the picture and now killers are versing teams at their real level, since the easy 4k is gone there is a lot of complaining.

This is a much more balanced game, the strength of the two teams is relatively comparable.

If you are not ok in playing people at your skill level, DBD is not the game for you. Not anymore, a lot of content creators quit the game.

If you don't feel like playing on equal footing, leave dbd

It's not a complaining about SWF because all matches are like these, all gens done, half hooks, no kills or 1 tunneled killed and this is getting more and more stressful. 10% of the time I have fun, 30% I'm indifferent and 60% I'm completely pissed off, playing as killer. I only got 3/4 kill in this match 'cause they don't have any perk...like Dead Hard or any other exhausting perks, Borrowed time or Decisive don't apply because they wouldn't be used. And Instaheal wasn't even used so zero impact.

Obs.: This is my first discus here

This is the issue with some killer mains, you just stomped a team and you are still complaining.

You are not supposed to stomp teams while playing at 70% of your skill. If the opposing team is trying to win, you are supposed to be able to beat them by trying as hard, which you did.

In this match you were clearly the superior player, I don't understand why you would want to play against adversaries which are clearly below your skill level.

This game clearly shows a mismatch in skill: You were SUBSTANTIALLY better than the SWF group, if you had won before the 5 gens being made it would have been a complete and DISASTROUS mismatch.

The only complaint I shall accept from your part is the stress of a game like that, which is ABSOLUTELY understandable. Unfortunately it is a competitive PVP game and I don't see how this could be solved unless you were to stomp teams even more.

If you did you would probably not feel the same amount of stress, but it would be an AWFUL experience for the survivors.

I don't know what to tell you, maybe the new unranked mode will give memey games

    It did snow today...

Doesnt mean much, I'm in the uk so it's been sunny, snowed, hailed and rained today 🙄 might be a sign? Lol

Today was crazy indeed, it is the first time I have ever seen snow in Camden in April

  • She plays nurse as well as other killers. I got wrecked by Sluzzy who was playing doctor, certainly not a top tier killer

Sluzzy, please play an m1 killer at high mmr

Sluzzy has thousands of hours in the game and she often is at the top of the killer leaderboard, just saying

    1. He plays DBD for a living so he doesn't represent even a half of the killer playerbase.
    2. You misunderstood the point of that challenge.
    3. The results does not show that killers are op or that DBD is killer sided or survivor side. It shows that the game favors the side wich play more scummy with every advantage they can use.

That being said the game its not balanced and need things to be tweaked like boons and DH.

The game is killer-sided. The stomps are real, if a killer wants to play scummy they will destroy most groups. As for solo... not even funny

  • @calem said:

Seriously, every game as killer there are at LEAST 2 survivors using Circle of Healing and/or Shadowstep. They're the most infuriating things to ever be put into this game. And I am including Haddonfield in that statement.

Why can I not do anything about it as killer? I stomp the totem, but the totem stays there and lets them slap their boon on again and again and again.

Survivor puts Shadowstep down. Whenever you chase someone, they hold W to Shadowstep area. Now you have to give up chase in order to destroy Shadowstep totem. Rinse and repeat.

    It is NOT fair

Because killers are still stomping survivors left and right, kill rates are above 50% and Otz experiment showed that killers can 3K + perk/addonless.

Just say you want your easy 4k, come on

I'm sick and tired of the bad MMR, I can't put up with the blatant bullying and belitting from survivors who abuse broken map design and even more busted perks to make my life completely miserable.

Three gens pop during the first chase and I can't even get to tier 2 of my power with Nemesis... meanwhile what are the devs doing? They're nerfing Nemesis instead, a killer who (like many others) struggles severely against any competent survivors who also happen to be in a group of premades.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/E1OS9TUB8ZRF/nemesis-getting-laughed-at.png

This is a common occurence whenever I try to play any other killer besides Pyramid Head (the only one who can deal with this obscene meta), it's truly ridiculous. BHVR's lack of understanding of the meta has contributed to creating an environment which heavily promotes the ongoing dehumanization and bullying of killers, it's simply disgusting.

None of these players feel any shame for what they're doing nor do they bother to reflect on the root of these issues. Playing killer isn't fun, it's absolute hell. I wish there would be ANY empathy from the survivor side of the community, but there isn't.

All you get are "ez" and "l2p" or "uninstall" as endgame reactions from people who will happily abuse the survivor sided nature of this game.

this game is not survivor-sided. The killing rates are at around 50 % which means that the game is balanced.

Killers are only annoyed because the time of the easy 4ks is over, and that will never come back just accept it

Losing in any game can destroy someones fun. My suggestion is to not play a PVP game if losing is just anathema to someones existence. I don't have fun when survivors slam 5 gens out in 3 and a half minutes, but that's the game. The survivors are not in charge of my fun and I am not in charge of theirs. If you want people to play differently, reward them for doing so.

"I didn't get to play the game." Yeah, you did, you just apparently got downed out of the gate for some reason (clearly not the survivors fault, of course) and now you're in a bad spot. You can get eliminated first in fortnite, too.

Slamming gens in 3 minutes should not happen either, by removing camping and tunnelling then you can introduce real, compulsory secondary objectives for survivors. As a result everyone has more interactions, longer and more meaningful games, there is ZERO reason to defend camping, like there is no reason to defend gen rushing or OP loops

  • @SunsetSherbet said:

The people who want punishment are coming from a place of spite. They don't want rewards for people playing in different ways. They want to harm those who dare play in the ways they don't approve. People seem very oppossed to the idea of incentivizing people to not do something, rather than punishing them if they do. Meanwhile the "punishment" method has been tried several times already and has failed every time. But still, people want to see one side harmed for playing effectively.

Give the killer a reason to leave the hook. Give them something where leaving the hook is better than staying, without it being a flat "You are being punished if you don't listen." make it actually effective and worth while to leave and go to the corner of the map, rather than just telling people they need to do that OR ELSE. People are never going to respond well to suggestions of punishing others for valid play. Figure out why killers camp and then give them something to do that is A. Also very effective but B. Is not boring for either side. I don't what that would be, but I'm also not a dev paid a living wage to design the game. But creating something like that is a better place to look than "CAN THE DEVS PLEASE FLY TO KILLERS HOMES AND BEAT THEM UP IF THEY CAMP?!" type posts that have plagued this board the past day or two.

This is a videogame, and it is supposed to be enjoyable for everyone.

Camping and tunnelling destroy can destroy the fun, completely.

The hooking mechanic has to be deleted, it is the biggest source of toxicity in this game. Survivors should just go down and respawn in a safe area of the map, where killers have no access, with multiple exits, and they need to be rescued by their teammates.

No more camping, no more tunnelling, no more nonsense. It is BEYOND belief that after 5 years a person can be downed and doesn't get to play the game because they are facecamped and tunnelled, it is absolutely wrong. (and it is not killers' fault either, it is the mechanic to be wrong).

With camping and tunnelling gone, we can then rework the survivors' objective considering that each survivor has 3 lives and there is no way to cheat that. Longer games, better interactions.

And based on how the games are going buff killers to compensate.

  • With my 400 hours on Legion I would suggest this killer. She is easy to use and works well against new and average survivors.

She becomes quite hard to win with at high level, but by then your friend will know what they like and can pick a better killer.

That's not the worst idea but then the game must get longer for the survivors cause every unhook is free and save

yes, longer games and stronger killers in exchange for removal of camping and tunnelling. I would be up for it

Well, I just had a surprisingly discouraging match today, and it was mostly from the extraordinarily hostile attacks of two of the players after the match.

So, I'm mostly a survivor, not that great a killer, so I'm starting out here. Rank 18, not that awesome, on the PC, and rank 15 on the PS4. Anyway, I'm trying to get better with the huntress' hatchet, and I'm slowly improving; its a lot easier with mouse and keyboard than controller....

Anyway, as I said, not so terribly hot, so when the gates get powered up, if I get a survivor on the hook I tend to soft camp / patrol it. Usually the survivors will try to come in and save them rather than exit, and I use that as an opportunity to get more, along with NOED.

hasnt always worked, but sometimes it has. I figure it only makes sense: if I'm playing survivor and a killer is camping someone, I just go do other things, work on gens, open gates, whatever. Punish the killer for camping by doing other jobs.

Anyway, once or twice I've been attacked for camping, and I point out MOST of the time I patrol; go kick a gen, come back, go check another gen, come back. Sometimes I catch them rescuing the survivor, sometimes they get away.

And what, I'm supposed to just LET them save the survivor? I don't get the attitude. But I've only been attacked a few times, and mostly softly, such as "great camping dude," to which I point out I patrolled / soft camped.... unless the gates were powered up.

This time, however, three of the players came at me. One was gentle about it and said "sucked you camped my friend, but otherwise GG." The one who I originally "camped" exited. I got a second one, however, and THAT one and the fourth, a twitch streamer too, came at me with all guns blazing, calling me all kinds of vile names and constantly cussing at me, belittling me, etc.

Frankly, I was more than willing to discuss the game, but I think they were SWF, or maybe two groups of SWF; they were very often together all four of them working on a single gen, or three of them where possible, etc. I could almost never find them, because they were all in one spot where I was checking others. They denied it, but the aforementioned person above said it sucked I camped her friend, and the other two, one was talking about the twitch streamer size of followers.

And in between the base insults, there were comments of "code of honor" and such. Like, its ok they SWF, they coordinate, they even rushed to rescue a hooked person earlier and complained about my camping her too, when they rushed in to save her!

Sigh... I dont know, am I wrong? When I played solo survivor, I used to get mad for getting camped, esp face camped or tunneled, and I watch twitch streamers like hybridpanda and tydetime run off right away after hooking someone. I generally do that early game, but keep an eye out for rescue teams to head back.

So, I'm a little frustrated at having been attacked in such a vile manner, and I dont know, I suppose I'd've expected better behavior from a twitch streamer, should have known better I guess.

But I guess this is a very long winded way of asking, just when IS it appropriate to camp, and when isn't it? They seemed to act that even with the gates powered and even with them rushing in to save someone, I shouldn't have been doing that. Was I in the wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

    Camping is NEVER ok!

But it is not the killer's fault either. The problem is a potentially toxic mechanic.

Camping and tunnelling only happens because the killer is allowed to by the game, the entire hook mechanic can bring the biggest amount of toxicity in the game (killer-wise).

Once a survivor is downed they should just disappear to a safe zone, fill up the sacrifice meter and respawn in a zone only available to survivors with more than one exit.

The team can rescue them and decide whether to heal or not and then start playing the game again. The third time you are downed you are dead.

This gives every survivor a chance to play the game properly, once this is done buff killers to compensate
