"I'm assuming you mean someone could "abuse" this by not being picked up, and then "DC'ing" so you'd lose out on the hook? "
Leaving someone on the ground isn't necessarily bad behavior from the killer. With the silent survivor bug, sometimes you just can't find them. And I dont think the killer should be disadvantaged right now when that bug hasn't been fixed.
"I mean how often does this bug even happen."
About once every 10 downs. It's quite a bit.
"I'm proposing something that would legitimately fix the issue raised by OP, it's not my problem if DBD is ridden with bugs which all interfere with other features."
No, it's not your problem, but you definitely are ignoring it just to push your view.
"I'm guessing what you mean though cause, as discussed, you failed to make any argument"
Lol, stay tilted on the internet. It's funny to the rest of us.
You said the killer would be disadvantaged by this, but I'm still missing your point as to how.
My proposal was, after 1 minute, a slug can commit suicide and end their game. The silent bug will make them hidden yes... so they can... kill themselves before getting hooked? So you are saying, the survivors having the option to have one of their players remove themselves from the game, gives the Killer an advantage? As soon as it is 3v1, the Killer has a very easy game to win.
"No, it's not your problem, but you definitely are ignoring it just to push your view."
LMFAO I am not ignoring it, I haven't even argued with your point because I still don't even understand it. I tried to get you to explain your point for two posts, and now I still don't get it. But yeah I'm totally ignoring your arguments just to push my view...

This is definitely up there for me as one of the most frustrating mechanics for sure.
I like the fact that the collision is there for the most part, adds a level of strategy and skill to the movement in the game. However I feel there should be a mechanic to allow the Killer to override the survivors hitbox for the purposes of hooking.

And miss a chance for you to be condescending in front of everyone? Never.
You do realize your original message came off as condescending. "Sure we can act like this bug doesn't exist". Without any explanation you are basically assuming that everyone else has the context already in your brain without you having to elaborate.
I was condescending but at least I am trying to encourage actual dialogue.
You still didn't explain your point!

Using =/= abusing
I get you don't like the perk, but DH and tunneling having nothing do to with each other
They do actually. Played correctly, one DH can extend a chase massively, that 2-gen chase could become a 3 or even 4 gen chase. At this point, tunneling becomes the only option to win.
If you have a team of 4 people who all know how to loop and use DH effectively, they will finish the gens before you can kill more than 1 of them, almost guaranteed. So we get back to the "having to tunnel" someone conundrum.

TBH if it wasn't an offering I will typically try. if someone played an offering though then yeah Imma just accidentially play terrible and get 0 hooks. Sorry but I'm not playing Nurse with full slow down so I shouldn't have to play on OP maps

Yes but at least when hooking they killer spends time doing it not someones down bleed out immediately then move on.
Well I just added there could be a 1 minute requirement to be on the floor first, so it would not be faster than hook suicides.

So I’ve been playing this game since 2017 and one thing I loved to do for both survivor and killer was get to rank 1 after every rank reset which sometimes resorted in me having to play extremely focused / sweaty, especially on the killer side of things. With time this became tiresome and it started to suck the fun out of my games, especially after the implementation of MMR.
So now, whenever I’m playing killer I remove every gen regression perk and focus more on chase perks or perks to try to meme around with to see if I can get certain combinations to work in my favour. This has removed all of my killer stress and I no longer prioritise getting a 4K over my own enjoyment.
Last night I played as Deathslinger on Gideon Meat Plant using M&A, Sloppy, Nurses and Franklin’s and I actually ended up getting a 3K. It just happened organically and felt so nice. I just don’t want to feel stressed out when playing games. I’m here for the fun.
Has anybody else adjusted their play style since MMR?
Yeah I love playing silly builds or even no-perk builds. It removes the expectation that you will win, so losing doesn't feel bad at all. But when you do win, you know it is through skill (or survivor mistakes I guess..)
Lately I've been playing Demo with just STBFL, and Huntress with Lethal Pursuer + Iri Head going for 8 second downs

Yeah it isn’t but it’s the best solution until they do something with survivor field
It's really not the best solution, if you don't like playing Hag, or if you like playing other Killers.
My solution is just to mess around on Haddonfield, especially if someone brought the offering. The map isn't as painful if you don't try lol

You do realize that's literally a dc with no penalty right?
Did you not realise you can D/C by suiciding on the hook?
You could only make it trigger after 1 minute of being on the floor or something. Then it is about as slow as someone who DC's through hook suicide.
-
I agree, the hatch should spawn at the start of the match, and the key should also act as lethal pursuer but for the hatch, so you see it and can walk straight to it and escape for an ez 5 points.
Also should upgrade the key so that you can press E to force the key into the Killers eye, giving them a blind which lasts the duration of the match.

Only killer who can feel comfortable on that map
I'm assuming you weren't serious though, playing hag isn't a solution as then you have to play Hag all the time for the chance you get Haddonfield.
-
As much as I like bleeding out players who were toxic to me in the match, I agree should probably have a suicide option when bleeding out.

Jokes aside, They could probably remove a decent chunk of pallets and the map would still have plenty to work with. It just needs less pallets and a few more windows to play around then it's mostly fine if you ask me.
Yes but they need pallets to pack all of the meat. That's why the game has so many of them.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/290938/what-s-up-with-all-the-camping-and-tunneling
New META is around DH, BT, Circle of Healing.
The killer has no way to apply pressure anymore.
1 - Before Circle of healing :
Killer could injure a survivor or down a survivor and change target. It then applied huge pressure on the survivors as one was on ground, one had to come to help the downed teammate, one was in chase etc...
There were only one guy on a gen and well, if this one was injured as well, maybe he/she took the decision to come to the downed teammate to get some heal.
Huge pressure, no one on gen or only one on gen.
2 - With Circle of Healing : often 2 survivors with this perk
14 seconds to bless a totem. 14 seconds, it's really extremely low. 2 huge areas (2000m2) where everyone can heal.
Allow everyone to self-heal in the area @ 50%. Allow the 200% healing speed if a survivor helps you (absurd speed).
So what happens ? Killer cannot injure/down a survivor and change target as the injured/downed survivor will be respectively healed in 8 seconds (by a teammate), back on his/her feets in 8 seconds as well.
There is no pressure applied anymore by injuring/slugging someone. And most killers haven't got enough mobility to properly apply pressure on gens. Especially now that ruin/undying are useless.
3 - Conclusion :
The only way for killers to apply pressure is camping and tunneling.
Survivor mains should be ready as the current state of the game will bring more and more toxicity. I predict that in less than a week you will all have a terrible experience in every trials you will play. It will be camping and tunneling first hook 90% of the time.
And also get ready to soon have 20 minutes queue times as most killer players will stop to play.
I remember when some survivor mains, totally delusional, were saying on this forum that CoH wouldn't be META because it was not strong enough to outplay the old META perks... And i was telling them that they clearly don't know the game's mechanics if they think CoH is weak.
Honestly, it's clearly the strongest survivor perk atm. It's low risk (14 seconds to bless - infinite usage) and profit to the whole team with extreme heal speed.
And it's a good thing that the survivors' experience suffers greatly with the last update. Not because it's cool to see ppl struggling, surely not, but because survivor mains will finally understand that their enjoyment is tightly tied to the killer's enjoyment and capacity to perform well without using broken mechanics (camping/tunneling).
BHVR not fixing the global game balance = more and more camp/tunnel + longer queue times
BHVR fixing balance = no more camping/tunneling + instant queue times
How does this have 2 upvotes. Amen dude.

okay, that happens in all games, but this and that are different situations, i have no sympathy for killers getting ######### talked at the end if they camped and tunneled, like this epidemic of face camping bubbas we're seeing, nobody cares about survs making mistakes and being sore losers, i'm talking about purposely patrolling the hook until some rescues then tunneling them down, clear as day
Fully agree dude, if someone is playing with intent to troll then they of course deserve to be called out in the end game chat for it.
My point is though is that it is a definite trend that Killers are scolded or even insulted in the post-game chat, whatever they do. I think this is why a lot of Killers end up playing in a no mercy ("sweaty") style, or play in a toxic way.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't!
-
@WARW0LF said:
if you camp someone till second state and then tunnel them off the hook, you cannot be surprised that they are pissed at you in end game chat and rightly so, everyone can play scummy it's a choice, doesn't mean you have to
The thing is, fairly often people get pissed at the Killer even if they played fairly. They run into you? Tunneler. Someone loops you around the hook? Camper. Teammate DC'd but the Killer didn't farm? Evil!!
-
@Heartbound said:
Cuz it's fun. I do not have the attention span to be around a hook more than five seconds.
You are implying that the only reason one might not get 12 hooks is because they camp. This is wrong.
You also won't get 12 hooks if:
- survivors fail to promptly unhook, and anyone skips a hook stage.
- a survivor DC's, or suicides on hook.
- someone finds a key and the hatch.
- a survivor hides all game, meaning they die on their first hook whilst their teammates have already died

Maybe adding a open or closed state to the gate would be the answer. Like a totem perhaps. There's not often more than anecdotal play or chasing around the gate.
I don't get what you mean. The gate already has an open or closed state.
I feel like the gate should regress if it is above 50%. Survivors choosing to leave the gate to go and save others should be taking a RISK. At the moment they are not, it's a no brainer, just 99 the gate and then go use your second chance perks.
-
@Shroompy said:
Look at the game 3 or 4 years ago, then come back and tell me it was harder back then

-
Agree with DS and BT tbh. It's actually quite annoying how fearless survivors can be in the end-game with these perks. You can 99 the gate, since it doesn't regress, you can go for the unhook, and if theres 3-4 people alive then you can also get enough protection hits to make it from most hooks on the map. Every end game plays out the same way.
-
*shrieking intensifies*
-
Doesn't that mean you'd get the hit cooldown, which is slower than the missed hit cooldown, so they'd actually get more distance on you, making it more effective in a chase?

Damn this is like the third thread I've seen in less than 10 minutes posted about how broken the game is now.
I've had fun the past few games playing slug Huntress. I just literally slug people and never hook. It's a lot of fun as I enjoy throwing hatchets. Survivors at least get some fun as they have opportunity to heal each other (I don't camp the slugs), but they often get salty cause they want unhooks I guess. However playing Killer properly is often unfun, so that's tough luck I guess.
I usually lose, but occasionally this does result in a 4K at 5 gens as well.
-
Play Huntress, focus on hitting sick shots. Don't care about Kills.
-
@Sluzzy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2598440#Comment_2598440
That only means camping and tunneling to get a 4K is overpowered tactics where survivors are not strong enough to overcome it. Is it fair if four good survivors all lose because a killer tunnels someone out of the match early? I see this happening too much because DS is not strong enough or because the survivor didn't have it.
I'm not talking about tunneling the first survivor you see. I'm talking about tunneling or camping which is necessary when there are 3 gens left and you've only got 1 hook. This is not uncommon if you are playing against a very good team.
Your argument "is it fair if four good survivors because a Killer tunnels someone out of the match early" can be very easily reversed...
Is it fair if a good Killer loses a match because he didn't play Nurse, wasn't on a favourable map, or simply got gen-rushed or had bad RNG with gen placement or loops?
-
@HawkAyeTheNoo said:
Yip im sure the devs will be right on this change for you, holy moly.
The funny thing is, it's probably a change that involves about 20 lines of code, so they'd probably pick this one up before fixing the actual glaring issues inherent to the core of the game.
-
@Sluzzy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2598312#Comment_2598312
Yes. If you sweat to get a 4K you will get better opponents and killers use every tactic to get a 4K and then complains.
Similarly, if you "sweat" to get the escape, you will play against better Killers who know when they have to either camp or tunnel to win a game. Then you'll make a thread complaining about camping and tunneling, even though by being an efficient survivor, you make them mandatory tactics. So is this a double irony?
-
@Khelendrose2020 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2597790#Comment_2597790
Low MMR killers tend to jave more new players, and camp/tunnel much more. I found getting stuck as a good player with low MMR killers and teammates is significantly harder to overcome.
I ran a match last week where I ran the killer for over 4 minutes. I had a quest that required 3 minutes and did it all in that match. I finally go down. 1 gen was done in 4 minutes. I got face camped to death and watched as the killer then got 2 more hiding in corners before the last got hatch.......
Four minutes is ridiculous. Anything over 1 minute is a very long chase. It might sound counter intuitive, but it might actually help you to go down once in a while. If you are playing someone who is obviously many levels below you, to the point were you can loop them for four minutes, I can't really blame them for not wanting you to get unhooked. Maybe throw a chase once in a while if you detect that the Killer is underlevelled?
I dunno, might sound crazy, but when I'm playing Killer, if I detect the survivors are not competent, I take my foot off the pedal.
-
I sometimes have the most fun playing weak and random builds. You allow yourself the expectation that you are probably going to lose, because you've gone in without a meta build. Then if you do lose, it's not really an issue, and if you win, then happy days.
-
Its not really toxic, its probably the best way to get challenges like the stun challenge, etc.
The real problem here is BHVR thinking mechanics which take away your vision for long periods of time are OK in a game that is very time sensitive.
-
I agree, the ironing is delicious

Yeah that is annoying, I agree. I guess one could argue, if you can't get me three 5K hour players, maybe get me people who have a few hundred hours, but again it's probably an issue with player availability.
Do you ever play late? In my timezone (GMT), I find high calibre survivors at that time.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2597790#Comment_2597790
While this is true, there's a reason that the game was always considered killer-sided at the bottom ranks and survivor at the highest. A bad killer can still easily kill bad survivors because there is essentially no time limit when objectives don't progress.
You can have a confused killer that you can run with ease, but if your teammates are crouching around the corners of the map being scared, or run from generators at the hint of a terror radius and won't come back for another minute, you somehow need to loop the killer endlessly and complete 4-5 gens on your own. It's usually not quite this bad, but I've found that solo queue gives me one or two deadweight teammates every match, and the portion of survivors that are actually progressing the objectives is slimmer as a result, which gives the killer a big advantage. At first I was getting mainly good survivor games, but I blew a lot of them by refusing to leave when someone else needed an assist or an unhook and things just got worse from there.
It's not up to an individual survivor to win a match. They contribute, but they're only a quarter of the team's success and they're not built to carry the whole game on their shoulders. Previously you could still safety or pip up by performing well in a doomed game, but now it's an unequivocal loss and the only safety pip condition is getting hatch.
Yeah I'm definitely aware of the woes of solo Q, I play survivor often, and my friends stopped playing this game (I wonder why lol)
My point is though even if they had a cutting edge skill based match making system, coded by the gods, it is still going to fall short because of the distribution of player skills.
Always makes me laugh when someone with 5K hours says why can't you match me with 3 other 5K hours players.
Firstly: You are a rarity and most other people don't play the game as much as you
Secondly: Even if there was a pool of 5K hour players to use, the match would be boring, as 4 5K hour survivors are ALMOST ALWAYS going to destroy even a good Killer, just because the game is broken.
