  • I enjoyed playing her on the PTB, despite encountering many bugs. I was excited about the release and hoped that most of the issues would be fixed, but unfortunately, this chapter is a buggy mess. I'm extremely disappointed because this could have been a fun and interesting chapter. They should have delayed the launch to ensure she functioned properly before releasing her.

    Well said :)

The killer is not even good a D Tier Killer at best

This is just a skill issue

I typically avoid using the phrase "it's just a skill issue," but it applies when it comes to this killer. The only times I've lost against her are when I’m matched with teammates who don’t know what they’re doing. Currently, she is a fairly weak killer.

  • She is fun but extremely weak. Given how her power works, I'm unsure if she can be improved much; indoor maps are especially challenging. Not to mention how buggy the dog still is, which makes everything feel even worse. I'm disappointed, honestly.

Hawkins on this killer is actually miserable, can't imagine lerys is fun either.

Lerys is not a good map for her, haha. I played against a Houndmaster on that map, and she got only 2 or 3 hooks in total while everyone managed to escape. The killer was complaining about the map in the endgame chat afterward, and honestly, I can't blame him!

Edit: I forgot to mention that she only managed to get a hit with the dog twice during the entire game. It was sad.

  • Do you really think no one is excited because they nerfed an OP addon? I played her on the PTB and had a lot of fun with her. As someone else mentioned, not every killer needs to be extremely powerful or have overpowered addons to be enjoyable to play. I'm hoping they fixed most of her bugs; if they did, I'll be very happy with this chapter.

If 2vs8 was pernament 1vs4 queques should be fine but now when it's temporaly everyone wants to play it. Other fact survivor is much easier in 2vs8 so why they should play survivor in in 1vs4? Ofcourse big reason is many want to play killer with someone else too.

Making 2v8 permanent would lead to extremely long queue times, potentially lasting for a month or more. This would significantly harm the game during that period. I hope they just remove the mode permanently, but I know that probably won't happen. I have no idea how they can fix the queue issues with 2v8.

I mean, comparing it to All Things Wicked, the marketing downgrade is huge.

Another sad part is we aren't getting a map even though a pirate island map would be amazing.

A map like that would have been so cool. I was sad when I found out there was no map with this chapter.

  • Yeah, there isn't much hype for this chapter, which is disappointing because she is such an interesting killer. Even though she was weak and extremely buggy on the PTB, I love her character design, and I had a lot of fun playing as her. I'll most likely buy her with shards, though I'm not so sure she will be fixed by the time of her release.

I won't say Im upset with those who enjoy it…more Im flustered with the fact that their enjoyment takes away my own enjoyment. I said it plenty of times on here that I wouldn't care as much if the queue times were just in 2v8 but the mode affects normal 1v4 queues as well. That's why Im not happy and a little ticked off…the 2v8 enjoyers had the mode for two weeks now…its time to go back to normal dbd, the dbd I spent money on.

I understand that queue times can be frustrating, and I feel the same way. However, it's ultimately up to the developers to decide whether to bring the mode back or extend it, not the players. People can request an extension, but the final decision rests with BHVR. They know that queue times have been long for killers, yet they still choose to extend it. It's annoying, but there's not much we can do about it.

I don't like it bc it hinders me from playing the game…unlike some of yall I don't have the time to sit through 20 min queues just to play one killer match. If the mode didnt affect 1v4 I wouldnt care less it got extended but it does and it has kept me from playing my fav part of the game since it came out and now I have to wait even longer till I can play killer again.

I really dislike 2v8 matches, and I also find the long queue times frustrating. Since this mode returned, I've been playing much less. However, I won't be upset with those who enjoy it—that seems unreasonable. It's important to remember that it works both ways; no one should be upset with those of us who don't enjoy the mode either.

  • @HEX_NOED said:

I love it when people are enjoying this mode. F the haters.

It baffles me why people get upset when others dislike something they enjoy. You can still enjoy and play the mode, even if someone like me dislikes it. That's very immature, to be honest.

  • That's unfortunate. I'll play again when it ends.

  • Queue times are long, and people might fall asleep or forget that they even queued up. It’s unfortunate when it happens, but it is what it is.

  • I'm very excited about the new chapter. I don't really like the new survivor character design, but I love the design of the Houndmaster; she looks awesome! I played her on the PTB, and despite the obvious bugs, she was so much fun to play. Her laugh and voice lines are great as well.

It's dying a painful death. Sitting in lobbies with 6 survivors and 2 killers all ready to go and no survivors join for 2 minutes on the day the 2nd tome is released is all you need to know. And 150% BP bonus isn't going to solve anything. Scouts and Escapists running to the killer to get killed just so they can complete the two challenges to play a match using those classes.

Another week of this to go as well. It's just harming the game at this point.

I believe they need to remove this mode and come up with something else. While I know that a lot of people enjoy this mode, it's negatively impacting the main game. Players will eventually tire of the long queue times and may end up quitting the game altogether. Bringing this mode back for just two weeks isn't beneficial; it's causing frustration among players during that time. Steam numbers didn't seem to change much like when the first iteration of the mode was released; it needs to be scrapped, in my opinion.

  • @Toystory3Monkey said:

    just happened to me lol.

went afk for a while bc the queue was so long and came back to 3 gens left.

queues are too long for too poor quality of games

I attempted to play as the killer in a 1v4 match, but the queue times were still long. I often forget that I queued up for a game, and by the time I remember, the match is already halfway over. I will take another break until this frustrating game mode is gone!

  • From what I gathered from his post, he often experiences slugging in the main game (who doesn't?). Now, he has to deal with it in the limited 2v8 mode that's meant to be enjoyable. Can you blame him for feeling frustrated? Who enjoys being slugged, especially when it often occurs unnecessarily? I can tell you that I've played games where my teammates and I were getting slugged, but we still escaped. However, it still wasn't an enjoyable experience even though we won.

  • For anyone not having fun: Stop playing 2v8 like I did. I played two games and then quit DBD until the event ends. It is what it is…

  • I disliked it! Yesterday, I played two 2v8 games, and they were simply not enjoyable. I ended up with many brand new teammates, and there was excessive slugging from the killers. Dealing with killer combinations such as Billy/Blight can be very unfun. Additionally, I forgot to equip a challenge, which is typical for me, haha. I likely won't play Dead by Daylight again until the event is over unless I opt to play as a survivor in 1v4, and that's only if the queue times are short.

  • It’s frustrating when someone wants to leave the match early, whether I’m playing as the killer or the survivor. However, it is what it is—I’ll just let them go. They’re not going to play the game normally anyway, and I refuse to stoop to their level and be toxic in return.

  • I couldn't wait for 2v8 to end; I didn't even finish the tome or collect the rewards because I disliked the mode so much. If it became a permanent feature and significantly affected the 1v4 queue times, I would seriously consider quitting the game and never playing it again.

  • Slugging has worsened, and developers must address it. I believe they will eventually take action, and killer players can only blame themselves. Slugging can sometimes be a necessary tactic, and I understand why killers use it when it’s the best strategy. However, I've noticed an increasing number of games where killers refuse to hook anyone and instead bleed survivors out for fun, even when there are five generators remaining. This behavior is a problem that needs to be addressed. I don't want slugging to be completely removed, but it should be penalized in a way that doesn’t impact players who use it when necessary.

So you claim that people want to do something other then being chases? What else is there? People always say that chests are a waste of time and most totems are worthless these days, so all there seems to be is sitting on gens, which people also claim is boring and uninteractive.

A lot of people used Distortion before the nerf because they didn't want to be found or chased. Chases are becoming less enjoyable due to map nerfs and the increasing number of anti-loop killers in the game. I'd rather sit on a gen than engage in a chase that I know won't last long if the RNG of the map is terrible.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

And to run back to the hook after they get the unhook notification.

I thought people wanted to promote healthy play styles, as in chases since many on here exclaimed that’s the most fun thing about the game. Now that Killers are able to get into chases faster no one wants to take part.

It’s probably because maps have become smaller and weaker, and so many anti-loop killers are in the game. No wonder people don’t want to be chased unless they are exceptional at looping.

  • It needs adjustments as it is too strong on certain killers and does too much. Yeah, I play both sides, so I'm considering both perspectives. It's used a lot for a reason.

  • @buggybug said:

Hope one day it gets the distortion treatment and only have 4 tokens one perk should not be robbing survivors to protect themselves or save a teammate since people claim distortion makes people selfish and should be working as a team, lightborn is taking away that from survivors to play as a team ty god blast mine still has stun at least which flashbang should do as well since that is what it does in re games.

I agree it needs a slight change. In my opinion, it shouldn't provide as much for free, and isn't that what killer mains are always shouting about here? I'm not saying to eliminate the perk, but it should be earned rather than given away for free. Using tokens would be an effective approach (imho).

I fully expect Chucky, Vecna, Wesker, and Dracula to get murdered due to survivors whining. After they murdered skull merchant survivors now have the power to delete killers by whining they are "unfun"

SM was nerfed so heavily because survivors disliked her so much that they wouldn't even play against her. This isn't the case for the other killers on the list, so she really shouldn't be compared to them. I anticipate there will be some nerfs, but I don't think it'll be anything crazy.

Im gonna hope theyve learned from their past mistakes

But if they had, my friend, then his OG kit wouldn't have been discarded like this.

    This isn't good.

I don't think that's true. They can still learn from past mistakes without bringing back the original Freddy. I was around back then as well, and I did not have fun playing as or against him at that time. He was unique for sure, but not fun in my opinion. I'm glad they didn't bring him back. Who knows, maybe you'll enjoy the new Freddy changes.

Hopefully, I read your post correctly because I'm extremely tired. lol

  • More like 1/10. I've seen these types of posts way too many times. Nothing original here. LOL

  • I'm just going to say it: killer players are the biggest reason these events always suck. It's always non-stop camping, slugging, and tunneling game after game, with Nurse and Blight using the sweatiest perks and add-ons imaginable. I'm not saying this doesn't happen to killers as well (I play both sides), but it's certainly not as common in my games as those killer "tactics" that I already mentioned.

As someone else mentioned, there needs to be limitations in these events. Camping, tunneling, and slugging should be made less viable, and certain perks and offerings should be removed from both sides. These events are their own thing and are separate from the main game, so this could happen. Just something needs to be done to curb all of this toxicity during EVERY EVENT.

It's important to remember that these events should try to be balanced for both sides instead of swinging from one extreme to another. Survivors are not complaining because it doesn't heavily favor them this year, they are complaining like killers did last year because it isn't balanced and it's taking the fun out of the event. So, let's think before we type and consider both perspectives.

  • It is what it is. I'll play the event for the challenges so I can get the event items, and that's it. It sucks because I was looking forward to the Halloween event. After all, spooky season is my favorite time of the year.

  • @CrossTheSholf said:

Last year the void was basically a free health state for survivors

Yeah, but that doesn't change anything. Both sides should be fun to play and as balanced as possible, not go from one extreme to another, as someone already pointed out.

  • Some people are determined to quit playing against her no matter what. Still, it certainly doesn't help that most of the Dead by Daylight players I go against while using Skull Merchant is extremely toxic, even before the character was nerfed. I'm convinced that most people who play as SM are doing so to provoke a reaction from survivors and to make the game as miserable as possible for them. In my experience, this is common with SM players.

I just had a game against a SM player who kept slugging everyone, using knockout, and refusing to hook anyone for the entire game.

    Screenshot (4474).png

She finally decided to hook me just before the last survivor bled out, but I managed to escape from the basement hook (got the 4%) just before the last survivor died. The hatch spawned right beside the shack, so I was able to escape through the hatch.

    Untitled design.png

This is why I am no longer playing against her anymore :)

  • Making the penalties harsher or removing self-unhooks from the game won't solve the issue of people giving up. Instead, the developers should focus on understanding why so many players are leaving games and develop a solution that makes people want to stay. While some players may give up for no reason, most of those who leave do so (in my games) because they believe the game is unwinnable or they are getting tunneled or camped. They will leave if the game is not enjoyable to play. No number of penalties will fix the problem.

Also, what the the motion suggests (humping) feels a bit more insidious than your typical teabagging, etc. Not to be melodramatic, but I don't think it's a huge stretch to say it could feel like implied sexual assault to some people. Like you're down, helpless and I'm just gonna have my way with you.

At best it's dumb and annoying, at worst it could be triggering.

I also think it should be bannable (especially when it's to this extent - four solid minutes of it is just absurd), but it's also not something you can disable like a flashlight macro, and having staff review every report of it would be a lot of effort.

But it is, without question, the single most pathetic and cringeworthy iteration of in-game BM there is, and anyone who does it like this should take a long look at themselves.

"But it is, without question, the single most pathetic and cringeworthy iteration of in-game BM there is, and anyone who does it like this should take a long look at themselves."

I couldn't agree more. If I see someone doing this, I lose all respect for that person. It's disgusting behavior, and they need to do something about it. It's pretty clear what these people are insinuating when they do this to a survivor.

I don't know what they could do, but I'm not a developer, so it's not my job.

  • He is a bit too strong, and I expect some slight nerfs or changes at some point.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

It's zero fun for anyone. It's stupid. Why would you not want to see anything? Even the progress bars for gens, healing, and recovering for survivors are hidden.

I often disagree with many of your opinions, but I agree with this post; it's not enjoyable for anyone. I've received the rewards, and I'm finished with the mode now. It's disappointing, and I don't understand why it was reintroduced. It's simply not enjoyable, regardless of the number of changes made to it.

  • Regardless of the developers' actions, some people will be dissatisfied with the changes to SM. Her inclusion in the game was a mistake, even from the perspective of someone who frequently plays as her. Balancing her abilities is a delicate task for the developers. Players will continue to leave games if they don't implement sufficient nerfs or changes. Conversely, if they over-nerf her, she will become an unpopular choice. Achieving a balance that pleases those who play as and against her will be a challenge.

  • Yep, Survivor is quite challenging at the moment, especially for solo players. It's reaching the point where I'm hesitant even to start the game because one of 4 issues occurs in most of my games.

    1. The killer decides to tunnel/proxy camp someone at 5 gens.

    2. The killer is unnecessarily slugging people and won't hook them.

    3. The survivors gain the upper hand in the match, and the killer's rage quits.

    4. Teammates disconnect or die intentionally on the first hook/down.

In nearly every game I play, one or more of the issues I've mentioned occur, and I'm quite serious about this. I'm almost ready to stop playing as a survivor until these problems are addressed.

  • Yep, players are upset with the survivor experience, and it's becoming apparent. I hope that the developers are aware of SoloQ's shortcomings and are working to enhance the gameplay further.

Not for me I love it! I can finally play my other P100 characters now that I worked so hard for, without being targeted, tunneled and lobby dodged.

I can see my prestige in endgame screen and I see it in my own lobby before I get in the pre game lobby with the killer.

So yeah I’m good and super happy with this change. I’m putting BP into my next P100 that I’m working on now.

I'm pleased with the changes too. I stopped playing as Leon after reaching P100 because I kept getting targeted. I've even faced streamers who admitted to targeting me because of my prestige level.

I also feel some performance issues like mini freezes and it does not work so smooth. I've even set my game from high to low quality but it changed nothing. I've never that these issues before.

I play on a powerful PC and never experienced any lag before this update. Now it's freezing at times. It has to be because of the update, as no other game I play has this problem.

  • I didn't enjoy playing 2v8 as the killer, and it was extremely boring as a survivor. I didn't even unlock all of the rewards, which was disappointing considering how much I liked the badge. I couldn't force myself to play it anymore.

  • I still enjoy playing this game as a survivor, but the killers are currently a bit too strong. I'm not exactly sure what needs to be done to improve the survivor experience, but it must be looked into.

  • Very disappointed that 2v8 has been extended. Oh well, I'll just keep playing other games until it ends.

Views isn't necessarily hype, it just means views, if its controversial it probably gets a lot of views but that doesn't mean it has a lot of hype

FNAF has been one of the most requested licenses for years, so there is a lot of hype surrounding it. Some people on this forum may not be happy about the collaboration, but the truth is they are a very small part of the community. FNAF will be a great addition to the game and attract many new players.

  • That is exciting news, even if it's still far away. I'm glad they are finally adding FNAF stuff in the game.

  • This is a much-needed change. It should have happened back when the generator times were adjusted. This is definitely a positive change and shouldn't significantly impact those who do not camp.

  • I haven't played a lot because I hated this mode, but yeah, that was pretty much my experience with my limited time in 2v8. I think this game mode had the potential to be great, but it's just so boring and tiring for survivors. Also, when killers play in extremely unfun ways, it makes everything even worse. @NekoGamerX
