  • He isn’t as strong as some people think. I believe that nerfing the vaulting speed is the only adjustment he needs. I’ve played a lot as this killer, and I’ve done quite well when facing him because of my experience while playing as him. I’ve even made a few players disconnect.

Edit- I don't see anyone giving up more against this killer than any of the other ones tbh.

I think what they're trying to say is that you slugging them does nothing.

If I was in that position, but I am a survivor main - you are practically stooping to my level. Let's say, you are Kaneki, I don't like going against Kaneki, so I run up to you to make the game go quicker, you slug me for the full four minutes - during these four minutes, I go do something else. I've been gaming for an hour, maybe it's even my first game — it's whatever, I go get a snack and eat it, I go to the bathroom, I go get something to drink, I go on my phone, I go watch a YouTube video, etc.

You think you're an arbiter of justice, when in reality that person (or I ^) mind you, I've never done this - I only speak on behalf of being slugged for a 4k, but the mindset is similar. I've checked out of the game — whether being slugged or because I decided to throw the game, I have no consideration to the progression, so you slugging for the 4k (what I go through) or slugging someone at the start doesn't help the other survivors, they started the game 1v3 or 2v3 technically and it's a dead game.

I have experienced this before, someone gave up, and I have to now sit through this long game (if the killer decides to farm) or the killer plays normally and I kill myself regardless — the game is dead, I wouldn't consider it toxic, but you aren't doing some veiled justice and making the person rethink anything.

Exactly. This is essentially what I meant. As I mentioned in another comment, when the killer slugs me—whether for the 4K or just out of spite—I simply focus on other things. People who choose to give up will do so, regardless of being slugged; it doesn’t make a difference.

  • @Hex_Ignored said:

Well, let's just hope that if that really is a new game mode, the devs have thought of a really good incentive for survivors to queue up for that, as otherwise that mode will probably be as dead as lights out.

Yeah, I can't imagine it being popular among survivor players, so they better give a very good reason to play survivor in that game mode. Lol.

  • @WolfyWood said:

This is legit only effective against console players.

Any time this happens to my friend he just opens YouTube or goes to the bathroom. It's not nearly as inconvenient as you would believe.

I've had killers do this to me (slug), and I just listen to music and finish watching a YouTube video. It means nothing to me personally, and that's another reason I don't engage in this behavior when playing as a killer; it's pointless and petty.

  • No, I like the new color. It doesn't change anything gameplay-wise, so I don't understand why anyone would be sad or upset.

  • @NewPlayer100102 said:

    Yah its a bad idea.

Its solely for your enjoyment or sense of superiority against an individual who is trying to disengage from you.

I'm amazed that some people think you can police community morals with the stick approach, that barely works in the real world…

Agreed. I let the person go next if that's what they want, and get the game over quicker. It's toxic to keep someone in the game by slugging them; I'm not stooping to their level.

these are the biggest problems! every pallet is a free hit no matter what. wait for drop, user power free hit. no drop, can instantly catch you. mobility into cancel to an instant hit is also frustrating. The two worst things about this killer and they are left in.

If you take away both of those abilities, what can the killer do? I believe the vault speed needs a nerf, but the cooldown when canceling his power is fine in my opinion. If it were nerfed, he would really struggle to down anyone. Since the nerf, many survivors I've faced are getting better at playing against the Ghoul.

Don’t get me wrong—I’ve shared my opinions about this killer since he was released, and I’ve disliked going against him. However, after playing him more today following the nerfs, I believe the cooldown changes (canceling his power) might not be necessary. A very slight nerf could be acceptable, but overall, I think he will be fine, especially after they eventually nerf the vault speed.

  • @ChuckingWong said:

These changes do not look like theyll accomplish anything.

    Mask add-on is STILL broken.

I actually think the add-on is fine now; it's very similar to BBQ. The add-on isn't as strong with totem builds either, so I fail to see why it's still considered broken. Maybe I'm missing something, though. Can you explain why you think it is still a problem?

  • @AngryFluffy said:

I really hope the nerf to his Tentacle range will get reverted. The short range feels absolutely terrible now.
Reducing the range for grab attacks on survivors would have been enough. But nerfing the general Kagune range to 14 meters is just sad. Especially since we can't even get the original reach of 16 meters with using the Handkerchief add on now.
I don't mind the other nerfs, but this one really hurts the fun in playing him. 💔

I feel most people have grown too used to his original range. As someone who rarely played him before the nerf, it still feels great. That's why it’s best not to play too much with an OP killer; they are bound to get nerfed. There is no clunkiness at all. I doubt they will revert it.

  • I'm just glad he received some changes. I don't mind strong killers at all; I rarely complain about them. However, the Ghoul was extremely annoying to face. As I mentioned before, he still isn't perfect, but he is in a better spot now.

  • Great changes! I'll be playing as the ghoul more now that he isn't as overpowered as before. Great job, developers! I even bought both cosmetics to show my appreciation for the changes. I don’t think he’s 100% perfect, but he is in a better place now. Thank you!

I do love the cosmetics for the Ghoul!

  • Tunneling has been an issue for a very long time. Hopefully, the developers will make it much harder to do, but I doubt they will.

  • @ChuckingWong said:

Legion tier killer, just gotta get good. Clearly only needs small nerfs if anything. Definitely nothing major thats for sure.

I hate playing against the Ghoul, but I don't think he needs major changes. To be honest, just tweaking some numbers might make him feel a lot better to face. If he is nerfed too much, he could become extremely weak and clunky to use. I believe the devs should make adjustments as needed without overdoing it (looking at you, Chucky and SM). Many of his issues could be fixed by simply adjusting numbers, such as the cooldown when canceling his power, vaulting, and enraged mode.

Edit- Reducing the size of the auto-aim hitbox would be great as well!

really? there is no balance between ghoul and the other killers now. There is no balance between him and the survivors, you cannot escape one chase without getting hooked, what are you talking about. You and all other 12yrs old kids, ofc don`t want him nerfed but he need to. The balance of the game is destroyed now because of him, can`t wait that they take action against it.

Mandy mentioned they are already looking at some adjustments for him, but for now, they'll tweak some stuff in one of the hotfixes. If I remember correctly, anyway! He is 100% getting a nerf.

  • @ytgocmen said:

Literally, we can't play the game against this killer. He moves so fast, so every map is small for him, he can hit while literally flying, AND EVEN WORSE, he can hit with his ability from back of the walls, after dropping a pallet, he even can do it. 99/100 matches are against The Ghoul. Please fix him, or many people quit the game and won't return, just like me. I've never thought about pay to win style would come to DBD, that's crazy.

Mandy commented here on the forums about adjustments to the ghoul. Here is what she said:

"We are looking at adjustments to The Ghoul, HF1 is too soon to get any proper changes in as we do like to give things a little bit of time on the Live game for players to adapt.

Our Designers already have a few tweaks that can be made for the next hotfix to have the character more in-line of what we expect, more details on those will be with the patch notes on its release."

They are aware of how unfun he is to face; just give it a little more time.

Thank you, Mandy! I'm glad to hear that you guys plan to make some adjustments to him, as he is extremely unfun to play against. I love DBD and want to enjoy the game during the event, but I've had to stop playing because of this killer. I hope these changes will be implemented soon. Have a great day or night!

  • The Ghoul is currently too strong, and most people agree. Blame the developers for over-nerfing killers, not the players. @Callahan9116

  • @I_CAME said:

I'm not exaggerating when I say that every single ghoul game i've had so far is just them camping and tunneling off hook due to the killer's extreme level of mobility. Every match is exactly the same. The killer definitely needs some changes but it might also be time to talk about the hook system needing an overhaul as well.

Yes, I had the same experience in almost every game before I stopped playing. These same people will get angry and flood the forums, Reddit, etc., asking why the ghoul was nerfed. I wonder what the reason could be, haha!

Hope you have found something else that makes you happy in your leisure time ^🐽^

Thank you! I've been playing a bit of inZOI and a few other games while waiting for updates to The Ghoul. I'll return once the changes are made, but for now, I just can't bring myself to open DBD.

Yeah actually such a crazy take imo and such a fast way to kill the game.

Yeah, I just can't understand why anyone would think making most killers similar to Nurse and Blight in power would be a good idea. The game would lose most of its players at that point.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

I'm not even gonna fight this anymore. Just enjoy him while I can, and if he's playable after the inevitable nerf, then maybe I still play him. I'm just of the opinion that instead of gradually nerfing all these killers to Pig tier, we SHOULD bring them closer to Nurse/Blight tier so they can compete, and not rely on going against easy teams.

If you make most killers as strong as Nurse/Blight, you'll end up with a dead game. I don't understand why you keep saying this. Most players aren't that competitive; they want to relax, have fun, and enjoy a few games. It's not that hard to understand.

What I generally mean with my original post is that I wanna buy him and Rize because the power seems fun, I like the character even without really following Tokyo Ghoul, and so on. The problem I'm having right now is that I don't know if I really wanna buy him despite that, because it seems just about inevitable that he's gonna get nerfed. The problem with that isn't that I want him OP or anything (if I wanted him for being busted, why wouldn't I just play Nurse or Blight?), it's that:

    a) Playing a strong character that gets nerfed into the ground would be unenjoyable whiplash when it happens; I'd rather play a weaker killer that's likely to get buffed

    b) Obviously if they nerf him into the ground, he's not really gonna be worth playing

It feels unfortunate this is the sorta dilemma I've gotta think about, especially considering that the main killer I played got intentionally nuked into the ground for being different, and is about to be mutilated into a generic survivor-approved dash killer #58.

There is always a possibility they will over-nerf him, so it's probably best to wait. I'm waiting to buy him after the nerf because I want to see what nerfs he receives, and I also don't want to play an OP character that everyone hates, lol.

  • @radiantHero23 said:

    Ok?

    Had a bad game?

Who hasn't since that abomination got released? I've stopped playing.

  • @H2H said:

Don't worry, he'll get nerfed, BHVR always obeys their survivor bosses.

He'll get nerfed because he deserves it. I honestly don't understand how anyone can defend this killer in his current state. I don’t want him to be completely ruined by the nerfs because I plan to buy him after the changes, as I refuse to play as a killer who is this unbalanced; it’s just not fun.

Edit- I don’t know about you all, but I enjoy working hard for my victories. I like a challenge. Legion and Pig are my two favorite killers; I’ve been playing them since they were released. I don’t want a killer who feels they can get easy wins without truly earning them.

  • Seriously? Nurse is much harder to learn, takes more skill, and is rarer to face. The new killer is miserable to encounter for many people, and he will suck the fun out of the event. I hope they nerf him soon, but I doubt they will.

  • If you are considering buying this character because of how strong most people say he is, keep in mind that you might be disappointed, as he may get nerfed in the future. However, it could be worth purchasing if you enjoy his power and are okay with potential nerfs.

  • I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and now I have almost no stuttering. Maybe you could try that to see if it works.

  • @paranoidmad80 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/441708/stuttering-after-update-anyone-else

No, you're not the only one. I have the same problem. It is definitely due to BHVR, as this problem has only been occurring since the last update patch yesterday. There are still optimizations missing, because everything worked perfectly before and I haven't changed anything on the PC or in the settings.

Same here! I've also been experiencing stutters, and there's no way it's my PC. I have a high-end computer that can run inZOI on ultra settings smoothly. This issue only started after the patch. They need to fix this because it's beyond annoying now.

Can I just say how ######### this is to have the QoL initiative announced and then a killer like this released? I was hopeful but I'm losing faith pretty darn quickly, I'd like to enjoy the Blood Moon event without having to deal with all my matches forcing me into a specific perk loadout to enjoy myself slightly.

I'm beyond disappointed the more I've played today.

It's miserable playing against the new killer, and who knows how long it will be until they make changes? I've also seen many angry people in the end game chat (more than usual). How they thought it was a good idea to release this killer in his current state is beyond me, to be honest.

Edit- I've also seen killer players questioning this killer in end-game chat. You know it's bad when killers are complaining as well, lol.

  • He's currently busted and needs some tweaks. I'm done playing for now.

  • Called it. He sucks to go against… that hitbox is awful among other things.

  • I absolutely hate playing against him. His hitbox needs adjustments, or I can see players starting to give up against him. That's not his only problem either.

Those sound like great gifts! I would love a Freddy pop, and the pillow seems awesome!

  • Hopefully, they will fix him. I have just quit playing the game now.

  • The changes to Chucky need to be reverted. I played him after the nerf, and he feels extremely slow and clunky. Overall, it's a terrible change, and I won't play him again unless these nerfs are reversed.

  • GOOD! No one should defend this broken perk; it needs to be reverted and tested in a future PTB if they want to buff it.

What are people doing on killer?

    The answer appears to be:

Enjoying yet another 45 second of slowdown on one perk that relies entirely on defending a PvE objective, while gaslighting the devs and the forum that this is somehow an ok change. Calling it "skill" to equip the newest overpowered thing and winning without much effort while boosting their MMR to be heights so they can complain for more buffs against the evils of SWF.

    Apparently.

The only thing I'm seeing is that being polite and requesting change or asking "is this intended?" seems to get ignored.

There's not even been a response from the devs on this surprise change, yet if people burned the forums down like they did with other patches (like the bug that gave free gen completion when killing a survivor early)... Now *that* was already fixed by this point in the patch cycle.

Looking forward to another "8 months of Eruption meta", or even "2 months to bugfix merciless storm" wait time to resolve this.

The buff to Thrill is beyond broken. I was testing a full hex build with Devour yesterday, and I managed to eliminate most survivors with little effort. In many of my games, they only cleansed one totem and repaired one generator. It's absurd that some people are defending this. I suppose people will defend it because they enjoy winning with minimal effort and do not want their new favorite toy taken away.

  • It would be nice to know if they are already working on fixes for the Houndmaster and how long we will have to wait for these changes to arrive. I've stopped playing her for now because of all the bugs. I can handle a weak killer as long as they're fun to play, but I won't continue playing a killer that is so buggy and makes nearly every game frustrating.

  • I believe he's currently a bit too powerful when playing against him, and he can be extremely frustrating. However, I haven't played as him yet (he looks kind of silly), so I try to refrain from sharing my opinions about him too much.

  • She is quite weak, but the most concerning aspect is all the bugs. I suggest waiting to see if she receives bug fixes and possibly a quality-of-life update(s) before purchasing her.
