Well, I have 61.62% Kill Rate on Killer, and I've never camped, slugged or tunneled. And, mind you, a good 20% of my matches involve me just letting the Survivors go because I'm either busy with a challenge that doesn't involve getting kills or I felt bad for them. I am in no way a top player, nor am I a pro - yet I do not find it difficult to get 4Ks consistently.

I also don't bring in add-ons, and I'm sure pro players would shake their heads at the perks I choose to bring in.

So, as a non-pro who can consistently get 4Ks without resorting to toxic strategies, I can confidently say that yes, using these strategies is a sign that you're either a fundamentally bad player, or that you simply do not have enough confidence in yourself and are too focused on securing kills.

61% kill rate isn’t “consistent 4K’s”. Unless you are getting all your wins with 4K’s only and all your losses with 0K’s only, I guess? Anyway, your kill rate is very realistic and I have no doubt you can achieve that playing the way that you claim. My comment was directed toward another person on this thread who likes to trash other players and call them bad even though this person has never provided any evidence that they play killer themselves. It’s toxic and gross.

But even coming from someone like you - someone who I believe actually does play killer - telling other people that they are bad because they choose to play a certain way within the rules is also toxic and divisive. I guess as long as it isn’t breaking forum rules to do that, then keep going right ahead if it makes you feel better to tear other people down. But don’t be surprised when you get pushback from people who rightly point out that it’s toxic.

It's not hard to get a 4K without using a toxic strategy. There are so many perk combinations for the Killers that can outright halt the game for Survivors that these toxic strategies aren't even necessary. While I don't do YouTube videos, just go watch Spookyloopz, he never does these toxic strategies (And yes, he does slug on occasion, but those instances are justified slugging, since the other Survivors were right there) and he gets pretty consistent 4Ks.

You want to get consistent 4Ks without being unsportsmanlike? Play the Killer you're best at. Not the one who people say is "meta," but the one you're best at and who you have the most fun with. It's not that hard.

It’s one thing for pro streamers to do it; it’s an entirely different thing for someone who has never provided any evidence that they even play killer at all to call other people “bad at the game” because they play killer a certain way.

Sure. You need to tunnel to win. Just shows you are fundamentally bad at the game then.

So why don’t you show us all how it’s done then? If you’re going to tell people they are “fundamentally bad at the game” if they can’t win by never tunneling, then it why don’t you help these players out by showing them how to play in a way that isn’t “fundamentally bad” by your definition?

Look, I'm not here to defend people who ragequit. That's not what this post is about.

I'm here to defend the one power players have to actually force BHVR to make necessary changes to their game.

For example, would Skull Merchant have been changed as many times as she has and currently be the worst killer in the game with a full re-work in progress if players didn't constantly ragequit against her? I don't think so. I think players sent an overwhelming resounding message that they didn't like playing against this killer.

Similarly, the only killer I'm seeing high levels of disconnects against is Ghoul. Yet, if not for removing death by hook suicide I think the rates would be much higher. So high that I think BHVR would actually feel compelled to rework this killer.

We've seen in the past with various patches (i think patch 6.1 when survivors received a significant reduction in the amount of distance they gained after being injured) extremely high rates of ragequiting. To the point where it happened almost every game. Because in many regards the game felt unplayable.

Ragequiting actually provides information for BHVR to self-correct their own mistakes. By taking steps to try and phase it out they may no longer be incentivized to do this. They may let things slide for far longer than they would have in the past.

Unfortunately, this may be where we're headed. BHVR will add content to the game, and make changes along the way, but players won't be able to respond in kind as they once had. Will BHVR feel compelled to self-correct by simple complaints on forums? Doubtful. It's only when they see players actively disengaging with their game will they feel compelled and yet they're phasing out the players to do that in a meaningful way.

It's honestly not much different than when the government bans protesting.

I definitely see your point here, especially with the Skull Merchant example. A big reason why BHVR made changes to her so quickly was because so many people were either DC-ing or going next immediately against her. I do agree with you that BHVR won’t get those same kind of immediate signals that something is broken in the game, and it will take longer for them to make adjustments to things that are broken. However, I still feel that despite that, the harsher DC penalties and go next prevention have still been a net positive for the game.

Unfortunately your aggressive way of thinking is what is toxic, anyone that has played the game can understand. Please stop trolling my thread.

All I did was ask you to explain what you mean by “BHVR caters to killer mains.” It was just an unnecessary cheap shot at killer players. It had nothing to do with your topic about slugging - you just threw it out there to stir up “us vs them” divisiveness. It’s this kind of stuff that is by far the biggest source of toxicity on the forum. So yeah, I’m going to call people out when I see stuff like that. Why not just say something like “slugging is out of control - what is BHVR going to do about it?” And leave it at that? Why make it an issue about “killer mains”?

  • @DevLinky said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3958131#Comment_3958131

That is kind of wrong. Some kill rates are way too high, and I can almost guarantee you that some are way too low.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/GGQEICD3FJ5U/dbd-stats-q12025-killerkillrates.png

I’m talking about the overall average kill rates. I completely agree that some killers are too strong and some are too weak. That’s a different issue that BHVR needs to solve, but they probably won’t because there is so much content in the game now that they don’t have enough resources to update/balance older killers.

  • @mecca said:

Yes, I find killer mind numbing easy and survivor is near impossible which is very stupid, balance-wise. Why is killer, the person that plays alone, not a skillful role?

Why do you need more proof? There are plenty of killers that post their winstreaks and boast about it. Survivor? Not so much. People are too scared to try it because skill simply means nothing for survivors.

I need proof because I don’t believe you. I don’t think you actually play killer at all. Maybe a little bit here and there just to say “yeah, I play killer”, but I bet you really don’t find it “mind-numbing easy.” I think you all you do is talk about how easy and OP the killer side is, but in reality you have no idea what it’s like. I’ll gladly shut up if you prove me wrong.

  • How much time should elapse before killers are allowed to chase you?

by the way, the two examples you showed are like the smallest maps in the game, and lethal pursuer exists.

  • @MeduSnake said:

Hey I find the idea of a "go next" prevention System that detects when someone tries to skip the round good but...if you can build in something like that why are there so many obvious hackers? I'm not talking about subtle cheaters who make themselves 5% faster and who have wall hacks. I speak about the big obvious stuff like running twice as fast, not having a hitbox, healing in like 1-2 seconds, doing a gen instantly and stuff in that direction. Why is there not a System that detects stuff like that and instantly bans the Player?

Well, to be fair, the “go next” prevention system has been a total dumpster fire, so it’s not surprising that the anti-cheat is also a total dumpster fire.

  • @KeefCheif said:

As far as I know, blocking someone only prevents you from interacting with them in the post game chat.I want the option to fully block certain bad actors:

    • Toxic killers (excessive tunneling, slugging, etc.)
    • “Sweaty” killers using full-meta builds/playstyles that give solo survivors little to no chance
    • Problematic or unfun killers (usually the Kaneki types)
    • Bully squad survivors

So that I never have to play with them again. If the game isn't going to do anything to control the massive behavioral issues in this game, then they should give the player the power to never have to play with certain people ever again.

Imagine a DBD world where all the worst survivors and killers are stuck playing with one another while the healthy community members flourish in their own bubble.

So basically you just want yourself to have fun, but nobody else is allowed to have fun because they have to go extra easy on you so that you have an easy escape or easy 4K every match? Got it.

  • @ElodieSimp said:

I know BHVR caters to killer mains but can we do something about slugging, it's really getting out of hand especially lately.

Please explain this “caters to killer mains” comment. Are you basing this on anything, or are you just another survivor-only player who likes to come here to stir up “us vs them” toxicity?

  • @mecca said:

They balance the skill floor for survivor there. With killer, it is balanced so beginners can win consistently.

Can you win consistently as killer? If so, your kill rate stats should show at least 75% kill rate. Are you actually going to back up what you are always saying, or are you going to continue throwing out baseless claims backed up with zero factual information?

Don't let people on here read that. Their false narrative of always facing SWF comp squads every game will get ruined.

Who is saying they always face SWF comp squads? You accusing everyone else of claiming this is the only “false narrative” I see here.

  • @Lixadonna said:

But yet the game is balanced around these %.

Explain please. The kill and escape rates are right at the target levels where the devs want them to be. The only exception is 4-man SWF which has a significantly higher escape rate than all the other groups. So by definition, than game is not balanced around high MMR 4-man SWF.

I do think this one is a really basic one to fix, no PVP game should allow people to play matches at 700ms ping lmao. It's absolute madness

BHVR allows this because they really don’t care if you have to play with high ping teammates or opponents. If they really did care, they would let players see the actual pings of everyone in the lobby. They care far more about player count than quality of the player experience.

  • @mecca said:

Whatever they do, they'll be game design exploits put in place so killer players can still grief and ruin the game for other players, and hijack their wins.

It'll be just like how borrowed time was the answer to tunneling.

What “exploits” are going to be put in place and how are killers going to use them to “grief” other players? Do you actually have specific concerns, or are you just lobbing another “us vs them” bomb without any explanation as usual?

When it comes to collecting feedback and bringing it back to the team, it really helps to have specifics, and I want to make sure I have an accurate read on what you're describing here.

One very specific example is Distortion getting nuked into uselessness. With the multitude of aura reading perks that killers have, you basically have no option to try to hide from killers if that is the playstyle you prefer.

Because video games are supposed to be fun and spending the entire match on a hook isn't fun.

This thread will now be derailed with bad faith arguments from killer mains claiming that every survivor who gets camped/tunneled/slug is simply bad at DBD and doesn't deserve to have fun.

How far away from hooks should killers be forced to go to make you happy? What if they hook someone, leave, turn around and see one or two survivors rush in for the save? Should there be some force field to keep killers from coming back to go after those survivors?

  • I agree - it’s incredibly frustrating that BHVR makes it so burdensome for players to report cheaters because their anti-cheat system is so useless. I guess they can get away with it though because the player count is at an all-time high. If people aren’t leaving the game in droves because of this problem, no reason for BHVR to spend resources to improve the anti-cheat system.

  • The matchmaking system is effectively non-functional. I wish BHVR would at least be honest about this. They tell us that “you should be getting matched with players of similar skill level”, but I can tell you from my experience that is 100% not true. I check player hours of those in my lobbies who have Steam accounts, and I see players with 8,000 hours in one lobby and players with less than 50 hours in the next. I remember one time a player with less than two hours, so they had literally just installed the game for the first time. It’s just completely random. I know it’s not due to lobby backfills because it happens constantly.

My suspicion (I don’t think BHVR will ever admit this) is that matchmaking tries for like 30 seconds to get a “fair” match and then after that it gives up and picks players completely at random. The rationale is that players would get bored and play something else if queue times are too long. So “accurate matchmaking” gets like 1% priority and “short queue time” gets 99%. I understand if this is the approach BHVR wants to take, but I wish they would at least be honest about it.

  • I believe that the root of the problem is that BHVR doesn’t have the resources to rework old killers to help level out the balance from top to bottom. The amount of content in the game is out of control now, and just gets worse with every new chapter. All of BHVR’s resources are spent on developing the next chapter, creating new cosmetics and (slowly) fixing bugs. There’s very little resource left to work on old content, and as the amount of old content grows, those already thin resources get spread thinner and thinner.

  • @mecca said:

It should be balanced so better survivors escape more. When you have killers that win literally thousands in a row then there is a very serious balance problem.

We already know new survivor is the hardest and killer can easily 4 K.

I have played enough also to know 40% is inaccurate. Whatever the percentage is very wrong for a video game. There is not another video game with such horrible balance.

I have no issue with your opinion that survivors should escape more often. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on that. But let’s at least have an honest debate here.

A couple of your points are totally misleading and false. The first one is that killers can win thousands of games in a row. There are like two people, the best players in the world, who have ever done that. That says nothing about overall game balance. No “normal” players do that, ever. Average kill rate is 60%, which means the “typical” game is between 2 and 3 kills, with 2 kills being the most common outcome. You cannot balance a game around the very best or very worst players. That’s not how it works.

The 2nd untrue point is that the 40% escape rate isn’t accurate. You’re basically just calling the devs liars and refusing to accept reality. The stats have been consistent for years now. Believe what you want, but your beliefs don’t change reality.

  • @mecca said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3956852#Comment_3956852

It's the same psychology. The kill stats are so polished and then pretend killers killing 60+ is balanced in a PvP game with MMR. This is a multiplayer game, not single player where only one side is supposed to win by default and have fun.

There's a reason why survivor role sucks and people don't play it.

What kill/escape rate would be acceptable to you? I’m perfectly fine escaping 40% of the time as survivor. Escaping isn’t supposed to be easy.

And we will all ready up, but I'll be stuck at the finding match screen, they'll load in to a game without me. This been going on, off and on all day . Is it just me, or everybody having issues ?

Well, if you read what I said it would make perfect sense. Double standards to balancing and business profiting. There is no world in the universe that would make sense for an addon to be that broken (pay 2 win).

I agree 100% that the tombstone add-on is busted and miserable to go against. But that has nothing to do with the accuracy of the kill rate stats.

I think it is the P2W nature for killer. People will buy Myers to do that. Imagine if survivors had a DLC that can bypass a huge part of their objectives?

I never believe anything devs say about stats or kill rates because of that.

You don’t believe the kill rate stats because of…a Myers add-on? What?

They have been nerfing survivors and constantly buffing killers for like 9 years non-stop. Anti-camp? More like stand a few more meters away. I don't know how you could be so disconnected from the game.

The only person disconnected from the game here is the one who believes that survivors literally never escape. Why do you even play the game if you hate it so much?

  • Are you seriously trying to draw conclusions about game balance across the entire player base based on your last couple of matches?

I tend to be more sympathetic to the killer side than most on here, but this is a terrible argument.

  • This is a joke. You haven’t shown your kill or escape rate stats, and I think we all know why.

  • @Scarlett1111 said:

I have almost exclusively played killer outside of a very few amount of games over the past week and it has been absolutely miserable. Games so unbelievably easy I don't even have the game sound on anymore, I just listen to youtube or music. 4Ks at 4-5 gens after hooking 9-12 times, 20 game winstreaks without even trying, I specifically went out of my way to stop even killing survivors because the games have been so easy, just letting them all escape after 8 hooking. Didn't even tunnel a single time (did have a few people kill themselves on hook though). Playing multiple killers. The game is extremely easy, killers are basically handed games on a silver platter.

You are 100% trolling and everyone knows it. Show us just one video of your amazing gameplay and I will believe it.

I have shown my stats in another thread and will not do it again, I have proven I have nearly an 80% kill rate on every killer I play or at the bare minimum on the killers I was farming the event with, 8 hook nearly every single match, and I don't play with sound. Spotify or a youtube video is always playing.

Where did you post your kill rate stats? If you have a link, I will gladly check them out.

Do you really think this constant trolling is going to convince the devs to do anything differently? I really don’t know what your goal is here. The devs know their game stats, and they show the game is balanced exactly as they want it to be. They’re also seeing record numbers of players. What data is telling them that the game is unwinnable for survivors like you claim?

It’s kind of hard for anyone to believe that you’re a godlike killer player with 80%+ kill rate, but at the same time you are so bad at survivor that you never escape.

  • @Scarlett1111 said:

Because one side of the game is so unbelievably bad its practically unplayable, any survivors that are actually "winning" aren't even playing the same game. Solo Survivor players are leaving the game in droves because of how awful the experience is while killer queues get longer and longer because nothing has been done to help them whatsoever. The game relies exclusively around kills instead of hooks so one person is always out of the match before 5 minutes passes and barely gets to interact with the game whatsoever.

Plenty of solo queue survivors escape regularly, include myself. If you’re well below the average escape rate, it’s a skill issue. The constant “nerf killers” trolling is getting old.

The average killrate is over 60%, SWFs are a minority in the game and barely happen, killer is so disgustingly easy that people can go on thousand game winstreaks on it. This isn't hard to understand.

Show me any stats from BHVR that show the kill rate over 60%. Also, why don’t you show us your killer stats or better yet some of your gameplay to show us how “disgustingly easy” it is. I won’t hold my breath because I have a feeling you can’t back it up.

  • @Unequalmitten86 said:

I thought I was the only one being miserable. I did do killer and those survivors are just toxic as anything. The best my kid played on Friday and ran a killer for 2 gens then gets a message to kill himself. It was reported but nothing done.

I didn't post my stats because it was confirmed that it's counting abandons as escapes in the stat tracker that players use. You can't really learn anything from inaccurate numbers. What does this prove? My number might say 64.71% for the last 30 days but I know it isn't accurate. The numbers are inflated and don't mean anything until Behavior fixes the problem.

That should help the folks who are trying to claim that it’s impossible to escape though, right?

  • It’s incredibly telling that none of the usual suspects who come to this forum to claim that they never escape have posted their stats. It leads me to believe that their actual escape rate is probably a lot higher than they want us to believe.

  • @Garboface said:

60% escape rate? This must be with a mic. I am at about 2 escapes in my last 50 games playing solo. Much of that due to randoms. Sorry, no level of skill is going to plausibly get one past the killer AND 3 other dread randos. I'd post stats but I can't get the account to work.

There are plenty of solo queue with decent escape rates. The overall escape rate for all solo queue has been around 40% for a long time, so plenty of other players are able to do this. If you’re really never escaping, it’s probably and issue with the way you are playing rather than overall game balance. And it’s also a bit suspicious that you’re not posting your stats. I give you the benefit of the doubt that you’re telling the truth, but it would be a lot more believable if we could see your last 30 days of stats showing your escape rate below 10%.

Um…sure. Can you post your stats to prove it?

  • @PigWithTvs said:

you know i been playing this game since ghost face release and i always wondered why survivors are always like, don't tunnel, don't camp, don't slug

    and my question is why….?

why shouldn't i do those things, you as a survivor do everything in your power to win, so why shouldn't i be able to do the same?

and don't go with the, oh its low skill or something like or the "rulebook" i want an actual answer that makes just a tiny bit of sense lol, because i feel like this is a question that nobody really has an answer to

Nobody should be criticized for how they play within the rules of the game. Much of the complaining about tunneling comes from survivor-only players who never play killer and would probably tunnel a lot themselves if they ever bothered to try that role. I play a lot of survivor as well and I agree that it sucks to get tunneled, but it’s also very satisfying when I can get the killer to focus solely on chasing me for most of the match while my teammates get an easy escape. I just had a match like that yesterday and I didn’t feel bad at all about dying.

It would be nice if rather than demanding killer nerfs, those who constantly complain about tunneling take the attitude of “how can I use this to help my team out?” Just based on law of averages, you’re not always going to be the one tunneled, and more often you’ll be the one who gets the easy escape instead. If you’re always the one getting caught and eliminated from matches early, that probably says something more about your skill level than it does about game balance.

I also agree with others who point out that relying on tunneling limits a killer player’s ability to get better, so if you want to get better, there is a good reason to avoid tunneling as much as you can.

  • For everyone who isn’t having fun with the event, the best thing you can do if you want changes is to not play it. If BHVR sees that the numbers are down, they will hopefully get the hint that they need to think of some adjustments or even total reworks for future anniversary events. I don’t really like the event either, and I have just gone back to regular mode as soon as I finished my event achievements.

    Day 69 (b4 spring trap)
Games good. Getting 4k without problems, sometimes 1 or 2 escapes. No need to use gen slow down. I'll play huntress with aura build like a giga chad i am

    Day 420 (during anniversary)
HOLY F… ENTITY. Getting 4 hooks before gates are powered is a miracle. Survivours started to use brain and they split on gens, doesnt heal or anything, they worry bout those things when they escape. No need to use gen regressing perks, they are to slow. End game perks and maybe i will have a chance

    Day 2137 (far future)
Survivours now carry gens on their shoulders and repair them in chase. While on hook they fish out items that can help them repair in the future. Pallets are on wheels and they follow survivours. No perks nor meta killers can help.

It's rather delusional to think such players will not find other ways to ruin a match instead. Bringing Luck offerings to skip the first hook stage, not engaging in normal gameplay, afking on purpose, SWFs just throwing themselves at a killer etc. The forced second hook stage or the afk crows do nothing, players can just tab out whenever they want and come back once the match is over. Trolls will always find a way to adapt…

I agree that people who don’t want to try are able to still ruin matches, but it’s definitely more difficult/punishing to do so now. I and (and at least one other person in this discussion) have already seen improvement in the experience with the new systems implemented, so at least from our perspective, it’s working.

This game is just all about killers winning, having fun, and worst of all killers rubbing it in. And BHVR supports it 100%.

I tried playing some games and killers win every single game. It's honestly an embarrassment on gamers to support such a grossly unbalanced mess.

I’ve never heard of someone playing a game they hate so much for so long. Honestly, it’s hard for me to believe that you actually escape as infrequently as you claim. Your MMR would be at literally the lowest level possible and you should only be facing the worst killers. If you’re still struggling this much against the worst killers, and you’ve tried everything you can to improve your gameplay, then maybe this isn’t the game for you.

I’m not saying this to criticize your abilities in this game, but rather I’m trying to get at the real reason why you are constantly complaining about the survivor experience. I see only two likely possibilities: 1) you really aren’t that bad at the game and you’re simply trying to influence the devs to buff survivors and/or nerf killers; or 2) it’s what I said above and if that is true, I really can’t understand why you would still be playing this game and coming here to constantly complain about it.

It's almost like a punishment for giving up and DCing punishes giving up and DCing.

The quality of games has been significantly better since the changes.

Agree. All the people complaining on the forums about not being able to go next or DC have been locked out of games or have stopped playing because they can’t regularly ruin other people’s matches anymore. The system is working exactly as intended by keeping these type of players away from the game.

The devs forcing survivors to stay on the hook all match is awful. Being held hostage is crap unplayable matches is mind blowing to me.

I had a match where nobody was doing gens except me, and we were going against a gen regression stealth pig. Obviously piggy had a particular playstyle she was doing.

Never committed to chase hardly and defended gens and hid alot. I got 2 gens done myself while others messed around and the match dragged for like 10 minutes.

I got hooked finally bc piggy committed to me and we had a good chase, and once igot hooked and saw the other 3 were in lockers I wanted to go.

I sat there.... THE ENTIRE TIME.... bc god forbid i struggle and go next. None of them saved me. I was being held hostage on the hook by the devs. I know they didn't intend this.... but its not working.

Miserable. We should have the right to opt out of bogus matches. At least with a DC we have bots. But sometimes dying on hook is the better choice when you play with boneheads. You all know these matches.

If you’re complaining about not being able to go next, then honestly it’s players like you that are the reason the go next prevention system is needed. It’s forcing you to decide if you actually want to be serious about trying instead of just ruining the match for your teammates any time you aren’t having fun. I’m sure this will make some chronic “go nexters” not want to play the game anymore, and that is a very good thing for the health of the game.

It should be evident by now that it is not intended to play survivor solo. In fact, I would say 4 man SWF is the only way. They neglect, continue nerfing, and enforcing punishments, rules, and adding more and more unfun play styles to pigeon hole you to basically avoid survivor at all costs unless you play with friends and even then they are likely to leave you to play by yourself.

    What is your escape rate?

Before I quit a month or two ago at least 50% of my matches had at least 1 survivor go next, troll, sebo their own team or just ruin the game.

I was talking specifically about DCs. The things you mention are not the same as DCs.

  • I agree that something should be done about situations where there are two survivors left and one of them gets slugged because killer is trying for 4K and slugged survivor can’t abandon because the other survivor is hiding, holding out for hatch. Easiest solution would be to allow the slugged survivor to abandon in these situations because at that point the match is essentially over. I can’t really see a downside to allowing abandons in these situations.
