I'd genuinely love an option to turn off fast queues and have fairer matches.
I wouldn't mind tabbing out to youtube for a minute or two to get an actual good match.
-
Honestly, it takes so much circonstances and preparation, it better have a good payoff.

Oh well just buffing Blood Pact I'm totally down for. If it was until injured again the percentage would need to be very small as I could see that being abused pretty hard. Or like you said a timer. Only downside I see here is that then it gets very hard to find subtle cheaters as those cheaters will throw this perk on to always cast doubt, like oh I guess it was just that perk but man they seemed fast. Either way I agree we could definitely buff Blood Pact in some way.
For Deathbound without the range requirement there is counter play though, it's the stipulation of staying near the survivor you healed to prevent it from activating. They seems like decent enough counter play. The perk also does nothing on self heals which is very prevalent currently with CoH.
Wait, I just re read the perk and... Does Deathbound stink more than I thought ?
Because if I'm not mistaken, it says "heal the equivalent of 1 health state" and not "complete a healing action". Meaning if I tapped myself with a medkit for 2% and then got healed it wouldn't be a whole health state ?
Because if that's how it works, I'm officially changing my answer to Yes !

So you're saying a permanent 7% Haste effect with no range limit on Blood Pact would be equivalent to removing the range requirement on Deathbound?
I was admittedly being snarky, and you're right to call me out on that.
I'm not saying a permanent 7% haste effect. I'm not delusional, haha.
I'm saying rework the perk as well, maybe with a smaller effect, but have it be permanent until injured again (like Better Than New, but with a better effect since the Obsession is rarer than just any survivor) or last a duration of time once you left the range (like Leader effects, for example). As it is now it's very useless as well. (even less used according to Nightlight, which I know, is not representative of all players, but gives an idea)
I do feel like removing the range from Deathbound would remove counterplay (heal next to killer) and be a bit broken because any healing being done, without a cooldown, would give a full minute of Plaything to the killer on top of revealing the survivors' location.
If the perk was to be buffed through removing the range to the healed survivor, I think it'd be fair to give it a cooldown so that chain heals couldn't activate the perk multiple times in a short span of time.

I'm glad they're returning, because I wasn't around during the last new year event, having started during the 6th anniversary. =)

I've tried multiple times to get friends into DbD but its always the same nonsense. They do the tutorial, then get tunnelled out of a few games and never play again.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/DZXU8DZ75XFF/screenshot-11.png
8 have played DBD in the past 2 weeks, 5 of which likely played for 1 game session. 37 other friends haven't touched the game.
I logged in to DBD and I have 0 friends in game. Introduced 2 friends to DBD in June 2022, they both last played on the 23rd of July 2022 lol. I'd love to hear from new players what made them stick to the game.
Started playing during the anniversary last year, as a group with other friends, one of which had played a few games and abandoned back in 2019.
Out of the 4 of us, only I and that friend keep playing regularly (but not often due to university and other pastimes).
What made me stick with the game was my friend, and insane luck to have most of my first experiences be very positive (meeting nice players and making friends on the game).

No :(
I think it's more that Olive wants to play and Holly has no interest in it. I just got from Jackson Galaxy's line a line of drops called "Peacemaker". Basically like the cat pheromone things that make them calmer but in a drop form. So I'm going to see if that'll get Olive to leave Holly alone until Holly becomes more comfortable with Olive.
I hope it'll work !

Thank you <3
Are the kitties getting along better now ? =)

Same way you burn a wraith. If she charging blink then flashlight her body. It should give off the mechanic while stunning her in the process. Apparently it work if she aint chargin blink or from behind.
I'll give it a try next time I'm bringing Residual Manifest, but I'm not seeing too many Nurses on my mmr.
My future corpse thanks you for the advice =P

Flashlights also counter nurse due to lightburn mechanic.
I heard about it, but I've never seen anyone actually do it, how does it work ? I'm pretty sure if I ever tried she'd be able to blink before I could stun her.
-
Obsession perks are usually too situational on both sides, I'm not unsatisfied that they haven't made more.
-
Scratch mirror is very fun to face !
-
I had the same kind of disappointment with Plaything on Legion.
I think it's fine that some perks don't work on some killers. It comes with having a lot of power variety.
-
Surveillance is surprisingly good, especially in endgame.
But Overcharge is really good, especially against survivors who can't consistently hit hard skillchecks.

Oh is that really how it’s going to work after the changes? You don’t even need to use the killer perks to get their adept??
I presumed it would be get a 4K while using their 3 perks?
Lol, I got confused reading your post ! X)
Could it not be : “kill all 4 survivors by any means OR no survivor escapes through the exit gates while using the killers 3 unique perks”
I read that sentence as though the OR separated two different options, instead of "4k or 3k with hatch". X)
To clarify : after the update, it will work as "4k while having all 3 perks equipped". =)
-
Unless it's mirror perk on the survivor side, Blood Pact, also gets adapted.
-
I haven't been able to play all that much recently, but last times I've played a few survivors called me cute or told me I was good. =D
-
Flip Flop-Power Struggle counters Twins.
Plague counters Medkits and CoH.
Legion counters DH.
Flashlights counter Hag and Wraith.
Some things in this game counter others, and it's completely okay. Not everything can work in every context.
-
If the killer seems potentially friendly I'll for sure give them my item if I have one ! =)
I've never considered how to ask for it as killer, what you're doing as Doctor is already pretty smart haha ! Doc going "Gimme ! Gimme gimme gimme !" !
I'm also often a friendly killer in the end, so I do get presents but mostly after I let them go, not as a bargain. I have no idea how you can ask for items... I'll have to think on it ! =D

In general yes. But against a 10 hour killer even I could run them at least 3 gens.
I assumed OP wasn't talking about literal 10 hours killers.
In this community where plenty of people have over 3k hours and 400h is still considered baby, a baby killer can still get at least one kill quite easily.
I'll trust you on the 3 gen chase though ! I know I probably couldn't haha.
-
I mean...if survivors need their 3 unique perks, why should killers get the adept with any 4k ? It's not exactly adept at this killer if you're not adept at their perks.
I'm with you on the "no one escapes through gate while having the 3 perks", I like giving hatch so, works for me.
Though real chads don't slug for the 4k, they either get the 4k or play a couple more games to get it naturally. Like real adepts !
-
Most people don't suck in this game. At least not in a toxic way.
I play relaxed as killer, and most survivors I encounter are really nice and encouraging. I've been told more "keep going you're doing well !" than "get good", after 0k and 3k alike.
I play relaxed as survivor, and most killers I encounter are sweet in endgame chat if I show them I'm not gonna insult them or they playstyle.
Toxic people are what you'll remember more, but most people in this game are neutral or nice. They're random people like you and me. No reason to assume before a match is even played that you'll encounter toxicity.
-
Hyperbole noted.
That's what makes killer sting less in my opinion. You can pretty much always secure 1 kill, so losses as killer are less unilateral and discouraging than survivor losses (especially as solo if you can't even be like "well at least you got out !" to a friend)
-
Not at all !
You really need to strap your ass to your chair until you're good enough to have fun, especially as survivor.
I wouldn't say the grind is too much now, I think it's reasonable, but it's not when starting out because you die a lot more.
Playing this game casually means even if you're trying you might not actually get better at the game because you don't play often enough to learn from your mistakes.
Right now I only have time to play maybe once a week (always chuckle at people saying they've "been on break from the game for a week", that's just my normal experience lol) and I really feel the lack of progress from no practice.
DbD is super discouraging when starting out, especially as survivor (since killer is easier on low mmr), so I understand your friend might prefer another game that's better suited to playing casually.
As it stands, DbD is beginner hostile and not a great game to start casually.
-
The thing is that waiting for hatch is okay if you're the only one doing it.
If your teammate is dying being slugged, it's okay to wait for hatch. The game is progressing, since in a couple minutes the slug will die. If 2 or more survivors are hard stealthing and not doing gens, then the game literally can't progress.
I think hatch is an important mechanic in the game, because snowballing is extremely common, and since it's a 4v1, entire games could be doomed for all survivors from the first 30s (like, if someone DCs or gives up on first hook). In cases where it's impossible to come back from one early mistake that was beyond your control, hatch is the last hope that makes sure not everything is about the snowball.
I wouldn't be against a system that would be akin to : 4 different potential hatches exist, invisible, in the game. One for each survivor. For your hatch to spawn when you'll be the last survivor alive, you have to have done a certain number of actions. It could even be a side objective, like going to flip a switch on a corner of the map , the aura of which you see once you've done the equivalent of 1 gen of repair or been chased for a total of 1 minute. It would add a side objective to slow down the gens.
That way, you couldn't just wait for hatch doing nothing else for the team.
It wouldn't solve the problem of the "2 last survivors each want for the other to be found first", but that's a game design problem that's not linked directly to the hatch, it's about how the objective for survivor is impossible to achieve in some circonstances, and it would need more reworks to be fixed.
-
Some will be removed... ?
Please don't make me have a character for an avatar =(
-
Sounds interesting !
-
I've gotten the rewards, there just isn't a notification.
But if you check on Nurse and Zarina, you should have gotten the cosmetics.
-
I think you might be receiving it but without a notification ?
I logged on yesterday and didn't have any particular sign that I got the cosmetic, but it was there when I checked on the character.
Checked today : I received it, there's just no notification. =)
-
Leader is not that good (at least in solo) because you won't often find an opportunity to use it well and if there is one, you won't always have the coordination necessary to pull it off.
However, it'd be cracked if its effect worked on the person who brings it. You'd have buffs all game long.
-
I'd say licensed, because so far in 2022 it alternated and we just got the Knight.
I have no idea which license and I'm not looking forward to any in particular. =)
No map, 1 survivor, 1 killer.
-
I hate to agree with BHVR in their argument against base kit Kindred, but what they're saying is true.
It is very precious knowing exactly where someone is VS knowing more or less what they're doing in a general sense.
You see who the killer starts a chase with and where they are looping. You see who was working on which gen, so you know where the gen is and that it has at least some amount of progress on it. If you're injured, you know where exactly the nearest person is that could heal you.
I didn't really see how good Kindred was before I started playing Aftercare and really seeing how useful it is seeing the exact position of your teammates at any given time.
I think seeing everyone's auras through basekit Kindred would be too strong, and would probably call for significant killer buffs.
-
It absolutely should. It would be extremely weak without, and Blindness is already underrated as is.
It's okay that some perks counter others. Fearmonger isn't overwhelming otherwise, or even played that much.
Saying killer aura should be seen through blindness because you have a perk for it is a bit like saying you should be able to heal through Broken if you brought a medkit against a Plague, or be able to DH through exhaustion against a Legion.
-
I personally don't mind Franklin's. I don't usually keep track of my item anyway and often don't notice I've lost it. Still, I'll remove the item (usually brown medkit) from my loadouts when I'm sent into a lobby where everyone else has items. Wouldn't want to killer to get nervous and decide to go as hard as possible because of a couple of items, haha.
As for maps, I do use them sometimes ! I'm very bad at remembering where the gens are unless they're in very predictable spots (like on Dead Dawg Saloon, beloved map <3). It beats having to waste a perk slot on Deja Vu or other gen aura perks. I haven't needed to bring any in a while though, as I've started using Aftercare and seeing my teammate work on a gen is just as useful as seeing the gen's aura.
-
That's why everyone being so dramatic about the flashlight buff was, well, an bit too dramatic.
People still miss their flashlight saves. If anything, they're more bold and sloppy about them. There's not much to be worried about.
-
Middle or even low-ish mmr is honestly so comfortable. You see variety in killers and builds, and it's overall less competitive. It's particularly nice as killer, you see more good mannered survivors.
Would not try to leave ! =)

You could say the same thing about any other perk that you don't get value from for any number of reasons. That doesn't make them "high risk."
We'll just have to disagree on that.
I think taking a perk I'll have 70% chances (pulled the numbers out of nowhere, for some people it'll be closer to 0 and for others closer to 100) to get 0 value from is more of a risk than taking a perk I know I can get more consistent value from whether that's because they're passive or because they're easier to time.
I think in this way, DH is higher risk than Eruption, since if you're playing Eruption, you will be kicking gens, and if you're kicking gens, you will get the bonus regression when you're downing someone, regardless of if you get anyone incapacitated. And if you aren't downing anyone, then the perk being inconsistent is probably not the primary issue, maybe more a matchmaking blooper.
-
Lol, I remember that thread.
-
@TheWheelOfCheese said:

DH is not high risk. If you fail a DH play you are in exactly the same spot as if you didn't use DH at all. You didn't lose anything extra.
You lost a perk spot.
-
Ok, that one made me chuckle ! X)
-
Had the same type of hacker on RPD months ago, during the anniversary. I was playing survivor with 2 pals, against a Nemesis.
Poor chap was almost constantly blinded, ended up facing a corner with the hacker clicking behind him.
We all went to point at the hacker until they DC'd because apparently it wasn't funny anymore when other people shamed them.
Ended up farming and having a slug race.
-
DH is high risk high reward. It might do nothing all game if latency screws you over, if you're not skilled enough to use it, or if the killer correctly baits you.
Eruption is still a very decent regression perk if no survivor happens to get incapacitated because they're doing something else at the time, and it takes no particular effort.
They're not perfect equivalent. They would be if Eruption didn't remove 10% and start regressing gen : then both would be timing dependant, might do nothing, and would waste 25 seconds of the opposing player(s).
(I play neither)
-
Running into the same people happens, though it's rare
There's a really cute spanish Plague I get matched with sometimes, who I once saw twice in the same weekend.
And the other day I recognized a teammate I'd been playing with the day before.
Before 6.1, I was thoroughly bullied by a team and the game tried to match me with them 2 games later (I noped out of that pretty quick).
But within 5 games is rare haha !
-
I routinely suicide... to give a chance at hatch to my last teammate while the killer is still near me.
Should I be penalized ? I personally don't think so.
There are instances in which it is justified, but I agree that the mechanics should be changed to disincentive giving up early into the game.
-
I do think it plays a part.
Content creators just have a lot of influence on their viewers and their opinions, whether they realize it or not.
I wouldn't even say Otz is that much of a perfect representation of the community (or is he?). For all his wholesome vibes, the guy has a quite the double standards at times. Anything he can't handle with 0 perks and addons equipped is disgusting. Anytime he faces a tunneler as survivor, it's "such a shame to play [killer] and camp & tunnel" yet when he's playing killer, that's... exactly what he's doing ?
But yeah, too much of DbD content creation right now is focused on toxicity because unfortunately that's what makes the most views I guess. That and all the fearmongering around "toxic ttv is so toxic ! clic to know why !"... And all the coy "OMG this build makes me feel so bad for the other side lol, please don't use it <3"
I've kind of drifted away from watching DbD content creators at the moment, except for lore retelling.
-
That as well as taking their share of attention to spread out hooks. Most of my survivor games would be less of a stomp if at least one person in the team wasn't super stealthy and unwilling to take aggro, meaning next person killer finds is dead.
-
Bubbas who don't facecamp are cool cats.
-
I've played the "Spawn with 1 other person" shroud a couple times last week to get a cooperative action challenge, but the offering got rejected every time. I have no idea why.
-
If it was disabled, it would still appear, but with a little red icon to say it is currently killswitched.
Probably bad RNG !
