The game brought in players with big licenses like Resident Evil. But once people realised what the gameplay loop is like they eventually left.

Some left from that MMR made 90% leave. Like I said bad game mechanics because mmr incentivizes things like tunneling and gen rushing so you never gain skill. Have a skillful game and more people stay pretty simple concept.

Yes i know i quick switched and I made sure to include that part in the video so that i dont hid anything but he had lightborn anyway so did it really end up mattering? Yes i was running a gimmick build because i dont like running full meta builds (thats boring) but basically all of my perks were useless. I didnt tbag or bm and still got hard tunneled and hit on the hook for some reason. What exactly was the deal here?

Killer was probably just bad at killer so had to do that most of them are tunnel carries them. Its okay he will just be crying when he gets to high mmr and gets pub stomped every game and come to the forums to whine.

If a Gen is blocked it cannot be progressed or regressed - so yes, this is not a bug but by design of the perk.

Welp you guys should consider changing what the perk does entirely that's pointless.

  • Cant wait to taste the killers tears when they buff it.

You can't make the game grow beyond a certain point. Most players want to play survivor, and are stuck in solo queue. They'll have constant matches of teammates going 4% or disconnecting, or they'll get tunneled out by the killer, find it miserable and quit.

This game is only suited to people who want to spend hundreds of hours learning the game through trial and error, and dealing with the most miserable tactics along the way. In other words, this game is built for almost nobody.

Well the game had 100k people now has like 29 30 and thats from poor game mechanics. yes you can make games grow it happenes all the time.

  • Every game has cheaters no matter the anti cheat its just part of gameing.

And that's what will be happening with tunneling. I'm sure this has been said of course. But history often repeats itself instead of being learned from.

Its already happening with tunneling its carrying killers to high mmr but really they suck at killer then complain when tunneling doesn't work. Then its SB and lithe, and genrushing they complain about when really its just they lack skill cause of a crutch stradegy that stops working. A good killer can lay down enough gen pressure not to tunnel and get chases over quickly.

Haddonfield is survi sided we all know it, but leaving aside the houses it has too many dead zones that are of great advantage to spirit. Toba is "small" but is full of structures and it has a high ambient noise and we are talnking about a killer that depend on vision and hearing. And that you say the spirit is the 3rd strongest killer is your personal opinion.

The same thing can be said for survivor to counter so its the same for both sides as far as hearing.

When the killer tunnels they just want to go play cod.

But how would a point based perk/addon system change that?

Killers biggest excuse is that they are forced to tunnel with the point system you could make it possible where the gen perks or the toolboxes cost a bunch of points limiting what else the survivor can do in chase or in other end game situations to make it where the killer dosent feel like they have to tunnel.

  • Honestly just keep playing the more you play the better you will get and the easier it will be. If you resort to tunneling just know its going to make the game harder for you in the future since you wont learn better chase and pressure tactics.

That's not true slippery meat is worse.

  • if you think adren is overwhelming then something wrong. There shouldn't be 4 adrenalins popping end game if you are a half way decent killer because 4 people shouldn't last that long sounds like skill issue.

  • From the killer pov if it takes you a minute to down someone something is very wrong and its 99% a skill issue. The problem is when killers start playing its easy to win they raise in mmr easily. Then survivors get a little better and instead of trying to get better at killer they just tunnel because its the easiest thing to do and takes no skill they gain even more mmr. Then they finally get in to an mmr where tunneling doesn't work anymore and then they start blaming all types of other things gens go to quick blah blah blah.... The problem is tunneling held your hand so long you never got good at killer or how to create pressure or how to get in a proper chase and now you are getting pub-stomped and blaming swf and all types of other things.

    Ima tldr

That's fine, but its kind of hard to have a discussion on the pros and cons of game design without at least a few paragraphs.

but having a stable player base is bad that's why I said grow.

It's a live service model, a stable player base is a good place to be.

I'd also say growth is just generally unrealistic. The game engine is old, the code and graphics take prior generation consoles into consideration. If there was to be a surge in players it would require a substantial redesign of many elements. Which will happen inevitably, (I imagine like 5 to 10 years) but if we're talking that level of change we're way past a point based perk system.

I don't think so all my friends want to play but say the game is unplayable because of tunneling the 2 matches they don't get tunneled they have a lot of fun. When the killer tunnels they just want to go play cod. Its not that complicated a game that has 100k players boom in from 20k should have a better player base the problem is not the content like games like new world or pal world the problem is that this game became to sweaty.

  • @HexHuntressThighs said:

Hot take: DBD is in a good spot right now. That’s how I feel.

Id have to disagree I bought the game for 20 people 2 stayed the other 18 quit because they get tunneled and are out of the game after 2 min and have to wait 15 to play again. I understand me having hours puts them in a bad mmr but they wont play the game period unless I play with them. So the easiest solution is to figure out how to fix tunneling or op killers for new players instead of people just saying git gud. Choys solution I think fixes it it will also stop slow gen rushing.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/408092/the-only-way-to-make-dbd-grow

I really think this might be the only true solution to fix the game and put it in a good spot.

So let's start with the premise: is DbD in a bad spot? The video highlights content creators expressing frustrations and a host of negative reviews at the end.

On the other hand, it has had a stable player base for a few years, the overall review trend still seems to be positive, and by all accounts from the Devs they find the game to be in a very healthy place (which probably is a polite way of saying 'making money').

The game is stagnant and likely on a slow decline, but I think it is highly unlikely that you could change that with a game of DbD's age. If they did think they could rework the game into a much more popular version I suspect it would be in a DbD 2 system.

Okay, so just as a hypothetical, would a point based system be better?

It comes up from time to time, I've suggested it myself. It definitely has appeal. Balancing the game would probably be easier, but not quite as easy as the video makes out. It would likely destroy the idea of a meta and create more build variety.

However I think there are a number of negatives that would also occur:

1: It's just not DbD's Design - One of the appeals of DbD is that it is not like other games. This means they buck a lot of conventional wisdom, which causes frustration, but also allowed them to create a very unique game.

By design, players are allowed to play sweaty builds that are superior to other builds. Like the different rarity addons for example - obviously some are superior, but the balancing metric is supposed to be their rarity. Now, I loathe the way addons work more than I could describe here, but the way blood points and character advancement work the game is built around that concept. You'd have two different balancing metrics running into each other.

The other factor is that BHVR has much more confidence in the MMR system than most of the playerbase does. Let's say we had a player who was a six (ten point scale), they could make themselves a 5 or 7 on the build and MMR would sort them out. Okay, obvious question, why let them make themselves weaker or stronger in the first place? Arguably, it creates game variety.

The other day playing survivor I got matched against a Skull Merchant who used a map offering and a build specifically meant for that map - as a player they were pretty bad and it was clear they were only there because of the build. But this also means I have games were I hit perkless Nurses/Blights who are amazing players but are handicapping themselves. Now maybe the perk variety created by a point system would be superior to this, but I could easily see it stagnating.

2: DbD is a guessing game - This to me is the biggest issue and one I think a lot of people miss. Many perks (and playstyles for that matter) gain their power based upon a presumption of what the other side will do. Now, this is true for any game, but in DbD it is a massive game component. It's why self-care is an S Tier perk on Asian server and USA and Europe looking at it as throwing the game because the approach to the game is very different (thus trying to ascribe it a point value would be very difficult).

This means a meta is not inherently problematic so long as it can be countered. Saboteur is a pretty bad perk, but if the killer ends up running Pain Res it can become very strong as you can deny an early pain res (and potentially a hook entirely). Calm Spirit and Distortion are either incredibly powerful or useless depending on the killer build. The value of perks is totally related to the probability of what is brought on the other side - that means many perks can't be balanced without the concept of certain perks being stronger or weaker.

Ima tldr but having a stable player base is bad that's why I said grow.

Both sides do this killers cry about losing and so do survivors.

  • @maximus909 said:

Notice every match features the Unknown right now? It's waaaaaaay too powerful and fast. I haven't faced any other killer since the Unknown came out. It's making this game WAY OFF BALANCE.

He's like high b tier definitely not overpowered by any means people that are good with him are pretty good and people who aren't its a cake walk. He's a new killer you probably just need to learn to play against him better. He's pretty weak in chase.

  • @Saiph said:

This game is extremely unfair with regard to ping. It doesn't matter if you have 20 ms as survivor, because the game favors what happens on the killer's screen anyway, so if the killer has 500 ms, then you get hit behind vaults and pallets as if YOU had 500 ms.

In contrast if you as survivor time Dead Hard correctly on your screen but you have ~100 ms of ping, this time it's server-sided so you get hit anyway because the server thought you were too late.

Someone posted a few clips on this forum where the killer was VPN'ing with 300 ms, showing both the survivor and killer POV, the difference was insane. On the killer POV it seemed like the survivor was a complete beginner, as if he had slow reaction time, and he would get hit on most pallets. Even on The Game, many pallets were suddenly very unsafe, just because of ping, the killer was basically getting an extra 1-2 meters on his lunge.

Looping in this game is HEAVILY ping-dependent, especially because of windows, and yet in a massive game design paradox, the game does not even SHOW you the killer's ping. Competitive DBD tournaments have a ping restriction of <100 ms, but the pub servers don't have it. As a result, you have to gamble every game hoping that matchmaking won't match you with a Russian or Chinese killer, and the only way you can know is by taking a hit and trying to estimate how BS that was. This is the main reason I've stopped playing surv, I can handle bad balance and bad teammates, but in DBD playing against a laggy killer feels the same as playing against a cheater - totally unfair.

Yea I really wish they would fix the servers almost every game I play the killers ping is red bared and my latency is around 20ms with 800mb upload and download pretty annoying.

  • @washedbeaver said:

Why does the killer get to see who he is facing? Shouldn't he have somewhat of a disadvantage in knowing who he is looking for? I'm a Ghost face and chucky main (no perks) but play swf mostly but I wish I didn't know who I was looking for when I'm playing killer. It would make the hunt more thrilling. I mean I run no perks and can 4k before 1 gen is done but that's boring. I like the chase. Add more suspense.

Because killers need crutches leg hurts.

Better??? What color is the sky in your world? Pain Res, Pop, and Eruption are all shadows of their former selves. Pain Res is 4 times per game instead of infinite times. Pop is current gen progress instead of total gen progress. And eruption is a shadow of its former self across the board. And you stand there saying they are "new arguably better gen slowdown"?? Stop talking. Just....stop.

Just because its a shadow of its former self it doesn't mean it doesn't need to be looked at. Remember when killers advocated for dh to be nerfed time and time after time again 🤣

  • @Sandt1985 said:

but why is that? it makes the game unplayable and less fun. I know at least a few people that gave up with this game because of how unfair it was..

  • For the people saying he shouldn't worry about the game since his house burnt down I'm sure they will handle it fine. If they have ever played solo q then they can handle anything.

The perk should have some activation condition like be in basement for 5s then its active until you use it (starting a heal with it uses it and it deactivates when you become fully healed so no 99% heal then have a teammate finish the heal) so its a grace basement with your presence then its better selfcare for a while

    nahhh perk is fine.

  • @jay111134 said:

I have been playing this game for the longest, both killer and survivor, im pretty decent i guess. Whenever i play as survivor, they always happen to magically hit me out of nowhere. There will be times when Im far away from the killer ( i understand that when they hit the survivor it lets them skip steps) but sometimes that isn't the case, they will literally miss and instantly swing again and hit me? like how does that even happen? another time is when im vaulting and ive already vaulted, i still get hit! ITS SO FRUSTRATING.. Literally the statics have shown that killers win most of the time and it makes the game hard to play to the point where its not even fun anymore. How can they truly balance this?

not trying to be a hater or nothing just truly annoyed by this. Have clips of times that don't make sense.

That is the balance they want they want less then 50% survival rate they have announced this. As far as the swing they may be running the perk save the best for last. The getting hit in vaults sucks but its a latency issue theres nothing they can do about it.

I was doing just fine before personally, I feel like it was in a good place as far as quality of life for a solo player but right now it's miserable and hopefully it's just a new update thing but ya never know with the iq of some of these people they may think it's genuinely a good idea, it's like the people who still self care in the corner 8 years later

No I'm with the other guy I play solo 99% of the time it hasn't been good in years.

  • killers not overpowered killers just tunnel because the majority of them suck. If they removed tunneling killers could actually get decent at a killer. This game is fundamentally designed for a survivor to go down there is bloodlust in play powers add ons so that is why tunneling off hook is so effective. When a killer isn't good at the game it shows so the easiest way to counter sucking at the game is tunnel off hook. This is the reason usually 3 gens pop when a killer actually chases someone who is decent at looping then they complain about everything else in the game. They end up in high mmr due to tunneling and then get pub stomped on and wonder why. Its not the perks you just aren't as good as you think you are.

People on this forum are acting like disliking your opponent getting an advantage is some shocking groundbreaking revelation.

Survivors are sodden they get killed and want that strategy removed. Thats it.

Survivors want killers to not to press theadvantages when they obtained them. Like not working that gen you used a bnp on...

Or worse, killers shouldnt be able to gain advantage in the first place.

Bruh tunneling just means your not good at the game that's it good killers don't have to tunnel cause they are actually good at killer.

Bnps are really that great anymore .

The game will be in a healthier place with mmr if they nerf tunneling back to how it was before d/s when you could use these things at the end of a match. It held survivors hands now tunneling is holding yours. That's why when killers get to an mmr where they cant tunnel anymore they start complaining about perks like sprint bust and lythe because they really just suck at the game and got there hand held and now they realize they suck.

In short: Killers ofc will defend tunneling bc they tunneling and if it become a rule they won't kill, like i said before a good killer dont need tunn.

Yea that was my whole point. Then he came along saying its needed because of comp and all types of stuff. My whole point is the same as yours good killers don't need to tunnel. Tunneling creates bad killers because they never actually learn how to play.

  • Yea the perk is pretty bad actually I'm just gonna say terrible and completely useless. Some number tweaks again might help idk. I do know though that sitting in the basement for 2 minutes no matter how many gens are left is just a waste of time especially with the new 3 gen mechanic in place. Its a cool sounding perk but even with no risk of the killer coming down its a huge waste of time. Even with 4 people on it its not worth the basically 4 gens you could pop at the same time instead of doing the invocation together.

I get what you're saying, but the occasional "me and my friends are dropping the game" post doesn't really affect the game's ability to 'thrive'. Look at the player count on Steam; I doubt them leaving will have a significant impact on the player count.

Yea but it always points to an underlining problem that more people could have the same sentiment but instead of just sayin okay bye you wont be missed isn't as good as trying to solve the problem. I'm with you I know there's a lot of posts like this but that being said as a player I always want to see if there's a way that problems with the game can be fixed and help grow the game.

Because your whole point is that tunneling is a must to win.

And that is where you're wrong. I never argue that tunneling is a must because it isn't. I argue that people tunnel because it allows them to win when they can't win otherwise and that instead of blaming this on the players, we should blame this on the people that are actually responsible. The devs.

There are quite a few reasons for a killer to tunnel but only 1 reason to spread hooks, which is to play nice. But playing nice, most of the time is neither appreciated nor rewarded.

I kept on saying that it's the most effective way to play in comp, which is why people adopt it into normal play. Because at the end of the day, that is what most care about; winning.

if you sat back on here and argued with me about this this whole time how I said its bad for the game and its not necessary to win then why were you even saying that was my whole point.

Also people saying they are quitting dbd on the forums is such a irrelevant number. Steamcharts hasn't shown any significant drop and it's unlikely other platforms differ. Simply put, DBD is doing just fine.

definitely hasn't grown much either. Good games usually grown.

  • @Xernoton said:

Only in DBD comp there are some extra rules. The existing rules of DBD are not changed though. So you could compare this to the extra rules that allow you swap hands by either using a 0 or a 7 in UNO. It's fundamentally still the same game. What you can pull of in normal UNO you can still pull off with the extra rules. And partially this is also true, if we reverse it.

Tunneling works in comp DBD. It also works in normal DBD. It's highly effective in comp DBD and it's highly effective in normal DBD. People tunnel to win in comp DBD and people tunnel to win in normal DBD. It's not always necessary but it allows you to win more often, which is what most players care about.

Because your whole point is that tunneling is a must to win. Its not do you not remember the original argument? You say its a must to win in comp and in regular I said in comp maybe but regular dbd no comp is a whole different game and you tried to say its not now your saying just because a strategy works in both its the same game make up your mind. I guess you just need to get better at the game because I never have to tunnel so I guess I'm just a better killer then you.

  • Enlighten you okay if I play uno and I change the rules to if you have 2 cards in your hand you can day dou. its basically a different game. I'm not about to argue if you agree a game with different rules isn't a whole different game. You cant reason with someone who wont admit when they are wrong, and you are clearly wrong or out of reach.

  • @Xernoton said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3675212#Comment_3675212

We assume they are high MMR. We really cannot know. I mean, some of the survivors they play against really aren't all that impressive and it's clear that at least some of them have no clue about certain killers either.

And when you watch games in which they really want to win (mostly streaks), they do tunnel.

Also, please explain why comp DBD is a "completely different game". It's the same game just with different players and rules. Tunneling works in both settings and it's pretty easy to pull off, which is why it's imitated.

Do I really have to explain how rules change the game? I think you just explained yourself its a different game.

  • @Xernoton said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3675139#Comment_3675139

It shows how people in comp play. Which is what players try to adopt. This is exactly what it shows and it's a reflection of the average dbd game right now. Tunneling, tunneling and more tunneling.

The rules of the tournament don't matter to show exactly what's important here. Killers will tunnel, if they are allowed to do it. It's that simple.

I found the rules in a pinned comment under this video. This is the same tournament.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xASnx8Uq01g&t=707s

    12 | Loadouts and Balancing

Every player has to create their loadout by following the rules and restrictions in this ruleset and the balance specifications in the Discord server.

The listed offerings are obligatory to bring. If there is a choice between two, the killer must bring one.

No penalty will be applied if an offering does not influence the match layout (e.g. a map offering). Aura/location showing offerings are considered a balance offense, except for a Basement Offering on a map where the basement is consistently in the exact location.

If a team brings a lower rarity on med-kits or toolboxes (items and add-ons), they will not be punished. This does not apply to the sports flashlight.

    13 | Killer - Additional Rules:

The killer is the lobby’s host and is responsible for setting the correct map and the correct killer for that set. According to Rule 7, a Tier I penalty will be applied against the team if failed.

You may not block the pathway of a survivor for more than 10 seconds. The timer starts when the killer takes the position to block the pathway. The timer ends when the killer leaves the position of the blocked pathway and allows the survivors to pass through that spot. Offending this rule results in a Tier I-III penalty.

Clarification: A location with multiple entrances is not addressed with this rule. For example, Blocking a shack entrance for more than 10 seconds is allowed. Once the Endgame Collapse is active, this rule no longer applies.

An open hatch has to be closed within 5 minutes. A violation results in a Tier III penalty.

    14 | Survivor - Additional Rules:

After the last generator has been completed, the survivors must attempt to open the gates within 9 minutes. A violation results in a Tier III penalty.

Survivors are not allowed to open chests. A fully opened chest results in a forfeit of this set.

All survivors have to play different characters. Violating this rule results in a Tier I penalty.

Survivors are not allowed to attempt a self-unhook (Kobe). The self-unhook is permitted if the perk Deliverance is ready to be used. A successful self-unhook (not with Deliverance) during the game results in disqualification. A non-successful self-unhook attempt with an impact on the match leads to the same consequences.

Particular ruling: Speeding up death when all survivors have been hooked is allowed. If a successful self-unhook happens under these conditions, the survivors are not allowed to move and can’t make any attempts to escape, and they can also not use any perks. When allowing an immediate re-hook, no penalty will be applied. Otherwise, the rule above applies.

I found that this rule set was copied from DBDLeague as stated in the Discord.

If you have to tunnel every game to win it means you're not as good at killer as you thought.

Maybe so. Maybe not. I know that I am not playing on that level (I also don't tunnel) but for everyone else? How the hell should I know? Or anyone for that matter. Most of us think they're way better than they actually are and some popular content creators make this even worse. Because they are considered top MMR when they clearly display that they have no idea how to play some killers. Sadako is a good example of that. I am pretty sure I am not allowed to call out any player in specific, so I won't go into further detail and simply hope you get the reference.

It doesn't matter though. What does matter is that tunneling is the more effective way to play the game. So naturally players will adopt that play style. After all, it allows them to win more, which is what most are focussed on. Do you see survivors running around doing dull totems and chests all the time? I certainly don't. And why would they, if they want to win?

okay so this is dbd league rules then its not a bigger nerf for killers. Again this dose not apply to regular dbd what you are showing is a completely different game. The people I showed are top mmr and dont tunnel to win.

Well in current survivor meta where you're just allowed to pre drop W with windows + exhaustion and generous maps.... Not much a killer can do if they want a chance at winning.

Im sorry but its just not true. Were just going to have to agree to disagree.

My friend who hates the legion mori has never be thrown on a hook but has been SA'd by someone grabbing their foot, is that graphic enough for you?

Yea I mean I can see that. With that though that means they cant play against Wesker too right because he grabs you?

We shouldn't punish tunneling. Simply because so many other things would have to be changed for that to be even possible.

But tunneling makes a killer worse as they go up in mmr since they never learn how to properly play them. This makes it where they can never stop tunneling.

You are drastically confusing "highest level" with "highest MMR." Highest level is competitive tournaments, a completely separate game that does not apply to anyone here. Highest MMR is extremely simple to get. I don't know how you could possibly rationalize someone winning 95% of their games and still not being high MMR.

Thank you Scott for chiming in. Since I used you as an example.

This video doesn't help your point. It was not a tournament but a showcase. The difference is that you do not want to focus on winning by using the same strategies as always but by utilising the power to the best of your ability. Eveb then, he lost 2 of the 3 games shown and the last game, where he actually did win was on a favorable map where he also killed someone at 5 hooks.

The survivors were also limited even more than in comp games and even there killers tunnel:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbCXEY1UV_Y

Just go through these matches and look at how many hook stages it takes for the first survivor to die.

This is comp dbd not dbd. So the video you provided shows nothing. They don't play by the same rules. The killers are also super nerfed in these tournaments. Again you dont base your game of thousands of players because 500 of them are better then everyone else.

If you have to tunnel every game to win it means you're not as good at killer as you thought.

Also please post the rules of the tournament since they weren't put in the video.

Right so now you start linking content creators. And here is where we are gonna get into a debate.

I have no problem with these content creators, in fact, i watch several of these. But, even these content creators will admit they don't play at the highest level because scott for example memes around a lot, so he isn't high mmr. Same with Coconut. Who is memeing around with orbital huntress right now instead of actually trying to win. They are playing against entirely different kind of survivors then what i go against.

Now do the same thing, and watch someone like tru3ta1ent, who, even right now, is starting to play more chill. But in the past, he did everything he could to win, and the matches he ends up and the survivors he goes against show it.

But at any rate. This isn't going to result in what you think it will. So no point in debating at this point. I think we should just agree to disagree.

Who else makes videos besides creators?

To be fair tru3talent just isnt that good at the game. The people I showed you are definitely in the top mmr since its very easy to get into. Thats the even crazier part they meme around and still get 4ks without trying to hard Scott has said plenty of times he is in the top mmr the threshold is like 1900 to be at the top mmr you start at like 1k. If I can find the video of all the hackers posting the killers mmr ill try to put that up here for you.

Even if we are talking about only people at 2300 or more the comp players the best of the best the as Mandy said 5% of player that you probably have to tunnel against which you probably only face like 1 of those teams out of 1000 matches 50 times that does not constitute you needing to tunnel.

Like I said originally the problem is killers tunnel to get into high mmr and then if they try to stop tunneling they cant because they never got good enough as a killer to play the game to begin with and shouldn't be in that mmr. So if you get rid of tunneling killers cant get better progressively. Most of the complaints killers have is because they get there hand held by bhvr so much they never actually learn how to play killer.

This is less for me than for my friends. I have 3 different friends that full on refuse to play the game because specific moris either trigger them or gross them out. The legion mori is very akin to SA, plagues is on par with a common phobia, and cenobites is pretty gross. I feel like letting survivors play without seeing the mori's should be a very easy on/off toggle, but if they cant be bothered to do such a simple fix, removing the leaver penalty once a mori starts should be fine, as at the point you've already died.

Not to sound insensitive here which this might come across as but there's a good amount of gore without the mori. People getting slashed, impaled, thrown up on, etc. I'm just curious how it doesn't trigger when they happen before the mori?

Because med-kit got nerfed, sloppy butcher was 30 second med-kit heals. Also targeted nerf for Fragile wheeze nurse and Spirit.

I still don't understand the stbfl nerf. Deathslinger in particular feels like he got turbo nerfed because he was one of the users capable of using Sloppy mangled effect and he also relied on STBFL as a perk. His two main perks got nerfed. Was he really over-performing as a ranged killer so much? Then consider that Huntress and Trickster are both buffed. Poor slinger. Poor base-kit and now his perk are worse.

I think it was mainly because he can bring you closer while huntress and trickster cant. Also they don't inflict deep wound.
