    1. I never knew this was how the countdown worked.
    2. I also got tricked by it.
    3. This is a very poor way to tell time. If you're going to round by days, why not round up instead of down? Then people are pleasantly surprised when the new tome shows up earlier than they thought.
  • I think all grabs should be removed. The thing I hate most when I play killer is going for a quick hit that turns into a grab and then gets cancelled. I accept that the grabs will never work properly -- just take them out and let me have a hit.

  • This isn't perfect, but I like the general idea -- especially the component where you limit how much people in a group can farm endorsements from their group.

  • I agree. I really prefer a battlepass where it's just like "Do this thing five times" and you can do it any five times, in any match, while also completing other tasks. It also creates a lot less frustration with the other players, because you aren't bottlenecked somewhere waiting for other people to play a certain way.

  • I got the blighted dress for Feng Min back in 2020 and I trot that out for Halloween. I think any of the blighted skins are nice.

  • I don't like the stealing either. Especially once I've already banked 30 points. I can't collect more, so it's just stealing from somebody else for no benefit -- and it's not optional, because unless you stop playing as killer at that point, you can't avoid it.

  • Hugging the killer's legs in order to hide from them

  • I know that light -- that's a gen I can't repair because of it. There's one like that on Lery's too, IIRC. Most of the basement lights on Springwood pulse at a much slower rate, and I find that a lot better. I don't know why they can't all be like that.

  • Yeah -- to be completely honest, I got the best possible outcome because I didn't prestige any characters or lose anything, but I do feel like people were encouraged to dump their stockpiles of items and add-ons without any real benefit to them.

  • I honestly think we should have a missed connections section in this forum.

  • It depends. If I'm playing a lot, I visit more often because I'm thinking about the game. If I'm on hiatus, I don't usually think of the forum.

  • I thought the first two rifts were really good -- this is probably the best I've seen since then, just in that there's a lot more stuff and most of the stuff is nice. I already feel tired looking at the deep rift, but I like a lot of the stuff in there, too.

  • Yeah, I'm not crazy about the stealing aspect, either. Events are supposed to be fun for the community and give us all a chance to earn free stuff. Being able to bully someone out of their free cosmetic kind of sucks.

I've been able to bank my points in most of the matches I've played so far, but I did have one killer obsessively tunnel me after I'd already banked 30. He couldn't have been getting any extra energy from downing me, so I have no idea why.

  • I also like this rift. There's some stuff that's not that great, but a lot of it's really nice.

  • I agree with all of these comments. The game design doesn't provide a lot of barriers to discourage bad sportsmanship or a lot of rewards for good sportsmanship. The thing I wish most is that it had always been designed so that five people queue up to play and the killer is selected at random.

  • I think the intention is to boost as many people as possible to P3 on all characters so that they have access to all of the perks. I found the process very confusing, but this last change pushed all of the characters I don't play to P3, so I'm happy about it, even if it doesn't make sense.

  • I hope they don't charge full price for the Wesker skin since the head isn't actually different. At the same time, with the licenses, I think they sometimes have to link stuff together because the license holders have to approve the specific look for the character, and they might not approve mix/match looks.

  • Ah -- here's the other shoe we've been waiting for ever since they announced the store items could be bought with shards. Time-limited FOMO items you can only buy with money.

I wouldn't mind as much if this game didn't already feel so expensive. Give me more shards to buy the free stuff first, then we can talk.

  • It depends, but if you're just trying to be annoying or trying to draw my focus, I ignore you. I feel kind of bad sometimes, because everyone else dies while their teammate spams the lockers instead of helping, but...

  • At the very start of the match, I try to work on a far-flung gen or an inconvenient-location gen where the killer is less likely to find me, until I at least get information about who and where the killer is. After that, I try to go for the one that's going to be the biggest pain to do if it stays until late game.

  • I never really liked Moris, so I don't care, but this definitely seems like a second nerf to them (and also a change that stops people like me from being able to opt out entirely).

  • They're testing it nice and early, while they're still working on it, and that's a good thing.

I will be curious to see how it goes on the PTB. The biggest issue I can foresee is that people already do trolly builds where they make themselves impossible to hook and then run either Unbreakable or No Mither so that, when you're forced to slug them, they can just get up again. If they really have unlimited pick-ups with the new system, they'll get even worse.

  • I got lucky and did it on first try in RPD. I think I got six hooks exactly in the whole match. That said, it wasn't fun, and it's a toss-up for me between Orange and Purple to see which is the worst glyph. On the bigger maps, I can literally spend all match trying to chase the Purple ones.

  • I've noticed a lot of people running Lethal, so, when I play survivor, I hang around for a few seconds and then leave the area I spawned in. It's different from how I used to play, but it stops me from being the first person targeted a lot of the time.

  • I also hate this -- partly because it feels bad to play against, but also because it breaks my suspension of disbelief. I'm definitely one of those players who's like, "Okay, let's roleplay the scenario and pretend we're actually running through an abandoned ski resort -- whee!" and not the kind that's like, "Even if the killer would be able to see me in real life, the FOV is broken in the game, so I'm just going to play the game mechanics and stand in this random blind spot." To me, that's not fun.

  • I also like to chase with Nurse. I'm bad at regular chases, but Nurse chases work for me, because I get to actively avoid all of the vaults and pallets, and just spin around a tree.

  • Aw -- so many. I would love to play Trickster and Huntress because they have nice cosmetics, but I can't aim at all. I would like to play Legion, also for the nice cosmetics, but having to stab people while I'm going extra fast is also my aiming nightmare.

  • It doesn't feel like it's designed to be a team game but, in my experience, that's how most people play. Maybe it's just my region, but I only ever play solo q when I'm survivor and I'd say 19/20 matches, we all stick together and keep playing as a team until it's over. When I play killer, almost all of the teams I go against do the same thing.

I'm actually surprised to hear so many people say otherwise.

  • So, every now and then, I get Amazon Prime for a month so that I can watch something on Prime Video or get free shipping on my parcel, and last month, I remember thinking, "Wow, I wonder if I'll get another cool DBD reward," and then it was a Plague outfit I already got from the Rift. And then I thought, "That seems not that great, but I guess not everybody has it? I bet the reward in September will be really good..."

    And now.

  • I know form personal experience that you can sink a ton of hours into this game without ever getting good at it.

  • This is a nice change, but it takes 8 million years to farm shards, so I'm only slightly excited. I feel like there's still a pretty strong incentive to buy stuff with cells and save time.

  • This is a good question. The least toxic games I've ever played were deliberately designed in such a way that it's hard to grief the other players -- e.g., you can't take people hostage because there's a timer; you can't body-block someone because they can jump over you; if someone gets stunned, there's a delay before they can get stunned again; you can't spawn-camp someone because they respawn away from the enemy team; if you have the ability to trap other players, they have an ability to escape the trap and/or they get automatically released on a timer... I could go on.

Because of the way it's designed, DBD has a bunch of dead-end situations where, if somebody successfully does X to you, you can't do anything but suffer. It provides an attractive opportunity for people who are inclined to act like bullies, and it also creates resentment among the players over time.

  • Being helpful in the endgame is also what kills me the most. To me, the game would be a lot less fun if I stopped doing team plays at that point, but I would probably survive more matches.

  • It's true that not everything can be perfectly accessible to everyone, but in this case, the things we're talking about (obnoxious basement lights, superficial VFX effects on characters, people using their flashlights in unintended ways) have nothing to do with the core experience of the game, and there's no reason why they would be required to be there. You could play a hundred matches without running into any of those things, and you wouldn't be like, "Boo -- this is not what I signed up for."

So, given that these things are not required, and they're pushing people with disabilities out of a game that they used to enjoy (and, in many cases, used to be able to play without issue), it seems kind of insensitive to me to slap a seizure warning on it and call it a day. (Also, my favourite thing about the seizure warning is that it flashed on my screen for one second, as if to highlight how much no one at BHVR cares).

I honestly don't understand why it would be difficult or bad to change the rate the most obnoxious lights are flickering. That seems pretty straight-forward.

    Was hemorrhage in play?

If so, stopping a heal early will make a noise similar to a failed skillcheck, but it isn’t one and it doesn’t notify the killer so they won’t know unless they’re close enough to hear it.

Oh, interesting. I didn't know that. I'll keep an eye out next time.

  • I run Kindred almost every match, and can confirm -- up until very recently, you could see the killer's aura the whole time. Now for some reason the bubble blocks it, and it's terrible.

  • The ones that feel like a bigger waste of money to me are ones I got a) for a character I don't play, just because I liked how it looked or I hoped that I WOULD play the character at some point, and b) ones I got speculatively, where I didn't plan to wear them right away but they were on sale and I thought I might want them at some point.

  • I'm torn. On the one hand, I want to say that what you're describing is a brand new game, and the retail price for a brand new game is a lot less than I've already spent on DBD, so it wouldn't be worth it to push the button.

On the other hand, I think part of what we're paying for in this scenario is a magic game that somehow completes the task of pleasing everyone and being fun. And I think magic is worth more money than whatever game the devs would come up with in real life.

So... yes. I would push the button and sacrifice my investment for the chance at a magic game that was guaranteed to please me.

  • I really wish that you could view your challenge progress in-match, specifically so that you can use trail and error to figure out whether you're doing it correctly or not. I have no idea what distance anything is by looking at it, either in life or in the game. Imagine how useful it would be if I could chuck a hatchet from what I think is 15m and then check to see if it counted or not.

  • FWIW, I think I had a lag spike in one lobby where I briefly got red ping, and the red indicator showed up for a few seconds. It might only be hidden if you don't have red ping. But I would still like to be able to see it.

  • I think all of the cosmetics should cost about 30% less than they do. If they cost 50% less that would feel like a bargain. Regular price feels too expensive to me.

  • I hated the old map, and so far I hate this one less, but I think the fundamental problem is still there -- it doesn't work in DBD to have the map be a maze. You need to be able to travel in the direction you're trying to go.

That said, they opened some of it up more, and I appreciate that. Also, playing as survivor, it's easier to find a gen.

  • I extra don't understand people who do this on the day the new chapter comes out. Like... you know what you're loading into. Everyone will play with the new characters and perks and new things will be broken. That's just how it's going to be that day. What did they expect?

  • Now that we have to cycle through the lower level bloodwebs over and over again, I would definitely use it to fast forward through a few of those.

  • I'm excited but I'm also cautious. I feel like whenever we all get super hyped to spend money, something terrible and disappointing happens.

  • I would say "as soon as possible" except that I've been burned by that before and I'm trying to learn my lesson. I will wait to see if there are any game-breaking bugs and/or issues that stop the game from running on my system. If I pay for it, I want to make sure I'll get to play.

  • I agree -- it's a design flaw that the killer's most effective strategy is to do something that makes the game play miserable for someone else. In a better design, there wouldn't be a dead end like that -- no matter what the other side did, you would have some fun way to respond to it or continue to take action in the game instead of just being sidelined or eliminated.

I think we all subconsciously understand that it's a flaw, too -- that's why we have so many informal rules about how people are "supposed" to play. We're trying to compensate for unfun it is if people play the game as designed.

  • I played a few rounds of survivor and matched with pretty poor teammates. Died on first hook multiple times because they couldn't figure out a save. Constantly got body-blocked by someone at full health while I was injured. I managed to do my challenges in spite of that, so that's the silver lining, but I also don't care about anything in the rift, so I have low motivation.

  • Unless I have a challenge where I have to escape, it's way more fun to go for it.
