Most of the things I was upset about in the original proposal are gone, but I don't understand why BHVR is so deadset on getting rid of mori photobombs when nobody was complaining about them, ever. A survivor running in to slap my ass while I stab their friend 28 times or play a lute over their dying body is one of the funniest things in this game.

Don't turn moris into bloodpoint offerings. We do not need more bloodpoint offerings. We have too many of them and with the exception of cakes/puddings, party streamers, and the anniversary event ones, they are all useless and wildly outclassed. I would never run an offering that will give me extra bloodpoints if I get a 4k (particularly, I lose the offering if last survivor finds hatch before I do… unless I slug for it, which nobody wants) when I can just run an offering that'll give me an extra 25k+ no matter what happens. And that offering will be lower rarity than the moris, to boot.

Change or remove cypress moris and leave the other ones as they are. That's all I need to be happy with this update.

Temple of Purgation Plague demands a sacrifice at the altar right? It can’t just be me.

But the problem is we could have MORE Moris by just. Being. Able. To run. Iri. Or Green. Too.

Yeah that would be so cool. Rereading the developer update it sounds like the bp bonus is in addition to how the Moris currently work. Fingers crossed!

Crossing my fingers so hard rn they're distorting into eldritch shapes. Englund Freddy with voice lines would instantly save the character for me, even with the nothingburger his power is right now. I would still love him. I normally dislike voiced characters in DBD but there's a few whose personality is so over the top that it cinches their identity. Freddy's one of them. A silent Freddy is not Freddy.

But comboed with the rework we know is coming? Oh, that would be a beautiful dream. And actual cosmetics… just imagine. Freddy's taken so many freaky, funny nightmare shapes over the years.

I'm afraid of hoping, but god, I want it.

Crossing my fingers so hard rn they're distorting into eldritch shapes.

It’s too funny to write a proper reply

Please Mathieu 🙏 please if you can, please reach out to Warner Bros and ask them if they’d like to make money? It’s there if they want it 💵

  • @GonnaBlameTheMovies said:

I am totally fine with a basekit Mori on one Survivor. However, I don't understand the rework, it reads like now, you only get BP from an Iri Mori when you used to be able to kill anyone on Death Hook with it. Is that the case, or will we still be able to multiple-Mori AND get BPs? I don't see why you would remove the main feature of what a Mori is, just turning them into another BP item… Please tell me that isn't actually what you are doing.

Please. Think of the people who love to photobomb Ghostface Moris. The people who bring them to be thematic. The people who like to see their Mains do the cool animation. The people who want to give Killers a kill and don't just want the same boring hook sacrifice animation. Please do not turn Moris into just another BP item; KEEP the ability to Mori one or more people when you bring an Iri or Green Mori AND make Cypress basekit. This would extra reward Moris and keep them useful as well as do exactly what you want. It also, unlike the changes proposed, wouldn't encourages slugging for a Mori on the last person when there are two Survivors left. Don't hard-nerf one of the coolest, most unique, and interesting things in the game and ruin all of the hard work you did animating.

Yes! Seriously! I really hope the iri mori stays as is with the bp bonus added.

I can see that we will technically see more Moris even if we can only do one per match since many Killers don’t often run them as offerings.

I am a gimmicky player honestly and I’d have no objection if someone like you wiped the floor with me, I would never blame you or get salty at you for going all out (and believe it or not, even with my gimmicky build (for the people, boon exponentia, plot twist, mirrored illusion) I try my best to do well and support the team objective as much as possible).

Nothing wrong with even camping or tunnelling or whatever because these are tools in the game whether I like or agree with them or not. It’s the (and I know this doesn’t apply to everyone) whole concept of being able to punish someone for things we like or dislike being only applied one way that can cause frustration.

The solution is for sure not easy and may not even be possible in some of most cases but anything that can bridge the gap is progress.

No two people may ever agree on an approach but I respect someone’s feelings and motivations nonetheless. usually that is always my position whenever I read forum posts and opinions

whole concept of being able to punish someone for things we like or dislike being only applied one way that can cause frustration.

This touches at the heart of Dbd. The fine line of how much power the Killer should have to remain a threat without being overly oppressive.

You’re right. It is very hard, maybe even impossible as you mention to implement. Another user put it really well. @pseudechis mentioned how part of Dbd’s appeal is the visceral nature of early elimination. I have to agree with her. In my opinion it does create a tension that fits the mood of the game- a Killer who will eventually get you.

But again, there’s the dark side of it. The bleedouts and all other types of BM.

I’m torn on this topic. Being a huge horror fan I love how big of a feature the Killers are in this game. It makes my imagination go wild which I love. Even dying as a Survivor doesn’t bother me because it feels like a horror movie experience to me. I think that it is hard to reconcile a horror experience with an esports type of balance.

Now on the other hand… This game is good at making you feel things. Too good sometimes judging by all the BM in the game and chat. And on this front I can sympathize. Sure I could grind my heels in and say, “You know what you’re getting into when playing this game”. But I mean, it’s a game it should be fun with some moments of stress. So when there are ways that people have created to be nasty to each other I can see the angst surrounding it. I understand this isn’t a call to give every complainer what they want, but the complaints do come from somewhere.

It’s a fascinating question, one that I’m sure Bhvr is constantly deliberating over. What a great topic. That was a fun exercise.

    Wonderful contribution 💐

  • Just look on the bright side. Now when you do good with her no one can say it wasn’t earned.

  • For head rubs. Seriously

yes, as I’ve become more experienced (but sadly not better lol) in the game and generally try to keep an open mind for both sides of the player base, my conclusion is to remove the concept of rulebooks and remove the agency in ‘doling out’ punishment for perceiving them transgressed.

Now, I will also add that the game should do better to avoid features and mechanics that allow or at least enable things that people have gripes with that are justified perhaps, e.g. @KatsuhxP points on map offerings (do we even need them? Let’s just play wherever we’re sent); flashbangs (adjust so it does have counter play); bming at gates (have some mechanic that teleports these people back in if the game detects a teabag actions in endgame gate ←just an idea I’m sure it isn’t easy but sure must be better than the status quo.

    and so on.

My honest take on all things BM in this game is this:

This game is intensely personal in that there are continuous opportunities that pit people's reading, conditioning, and adapting skills to the test. It is an intensely intimate psychological interaction. People react differently but constantly being read, conditioned and adapted to can feel like being dominated, because in a way it is. I mean it's just a game but for many people the feelings are still real.

Anything that makes a player feel bad I believe is part of the root for why people retaliate with BM and labeling everything as BM.

A Killer player can get angry irl just because a Survivor plays the game well as intended. So what, the Survivor needs to what, lose at chase?Same stuff applies vice versa to Survivors.

I'm being longwinded but I think it's about control. If Survivors are in control, everything they do is BM. If a Killer is in control, everything they do is BM. There are exceptions to this such as bleeding out for no reason or holding the game hostage by hiding without doing gens.

  • There’s so many different players that there is no answer. One Killer may want an easy game. Yet that same Killer gets angry when someone kills themselves on hook, giving that Killer what they want- an easy game. It doesn’t make sense. I don’t think it is enough to win, I think players want to dominate. I don’t like any of the rulebooks. The only thing I hate to see is the humping. It’s just so disgusting.

  • @Laluzi said:

Mori changes were both unnecessary and unwanted. They're not nearly as bad as the previous iteration, and I'm happy we aren't getting the whole slug situation with ruined DH and Rancor again. But they're still pointless negative changes, and I don't get why mori offerings themselves are being changed into yet more bloodpoint offerings, which will be vastly inferior to puddings simply because they are conditional. A pudding is a guaranteed extra 20-35k - even when a killer performs badly, they'll score near 20k. If a killer nails the round, that'll be closer to the 40k ceiling. So if an offering is only going to give me bloodpoints if I get a 4k, it better be giving me double that.

Just scrap the offering changes and it'd be fine. Let me use an ebony to mori all four survivors, whether I want that because I want to deny DS and pallet saves, whether I want that to show off the new killer's mori to everyone, or whether I want that because I want a survivor to come play Bardic Inspiration while their teammate gets stabbed.

RIP to prop mori kills, sometimes survivors crawling under a table and getting dragged out or getting roasted over a fire barrel was what made the mori great.

Distortion was overnerfed. Changing it so that tokens recharge in chase would have fixed every actual problem with the perk - survivors religiously avoiding aggro all game. The fact that Distortion actually worked to counter aura perks was not a problem.

I don't mind DMS getting nerfed? I guess? Not sure how I feel about this one. Removes room for killer synergies, which is a shame, but at the same time, I won't really miss it.

The perk buffs mostly look good, and I'm excited to try the new Crowd Control in particular, but I don't really get what's going on with Blood Rush now. And Zanshin Tactics sounds overpowered. There's no cooldown on it? Just 10 seconds of wallhacks every time the survivor goes near a pallet? There are way too many killers nowadays who can hit over pallets that can use this info without any opportunity cost.

I feel the exact same way about the Moris. It could be me but I’m not seeing a lot of enthusiasm for the new Mori system.

hey @HerInfernalMajesty my main issue is finding survivors. super boring looking around for them.

The main issue i see people complain about is certain killers power. It just to many killers who are extremely unbalance with no TR and minimum line of sight. About time you see Billy sprinting to your gen it to late, legion just have way to much info to the point u can't even do anything, myers/GF Stalking mechanic is just way to strong in this mode. Certain killers need to be completely ban from this mode for one reason or another. Nurse is completely useless.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3798414#Comment_3798414

i mean u do get off the record at basekit with faster gen speed so i can see that. I just felt the chase aspect of dbd was way less enjoyable for me.

Thanks for the info Solarjin 😊 You know me, it might be an mmr issue 😏

But for reals, you’re right about everything. Especially the Killer powers. Thinking of Legion for this mode makes me laugh lol. OKAY Solarjin I see now okay??? Lol 😉

Hope you’ve been having good games 😊🔦🩸

  • I see how much people dislike this mode. Hm. Its so strange. I loved Light’s Out when Bhvr first implemented it, and I am really loving it again now. The bats and eyes in the darkness are so cool and spooky.

It’s always so curious to me that I’m playing and loving the same game that so many others seem to hate.

  • I just got Jane Romero to P3. I have my own Survivor “bootcamp” that I do so that I become familiar with a character’s perks. I play five games with just one of the character’s signature perks (while still using Kindred) Then I play another five games with the second perk added, another five with the third perk and then a ten game final test. After graduating my own Survivor “bootcamp” I allow myself to purchase a cosmetic for the character. I play the character until I use up all of the items from getting to P3 and then I start the process all over again with the next Survivor. Sometimes I go out of order.

This is an unnecessarily long answer to tell you that I am excited to try the new Poise lol.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

If you want everyone to stop playing her, just tell us. Is this seriously balance patch notes for SM or more like "lets make sure Survivors stop leaving games because her power is bad"? This is execution, one sided, biased. Word "balance" is the last thing I would use.

So… I noticed that Killer difficulties are now gone? I always thought that a Killer’s difficulty gave a rough estimate of what kind of mmr Survivors you will be playing against. Maybe it has been decided that SM will now be an “easy” Killer meant for low mmr players from now on?

  • It’s difficult to fully determine how an update will feel until played. So it’s hard to say overall how it feels.

A few days ago I just finished my last item on my P3 Jeff. I’m glad I got to experience Distortion before the change. My next Survivor to play will be Jane. I’ll be using her three perks plus Kindred. I’m looking forward to trying out the new Poised.

PS: I’m glad WGLF got buffed 😊

On totems: I think they are in a good place. They are anywhere between irrelevant and critically important based on the builds that are brought. I think that is a good element to have something that matters sometimes and can be ignored others.

Chests: BHVR, as frequently happens, seems to be trying to fix the issue via perks. That rarely goes well and I imagine chests still won't be touched that much.

I don't mind the idea of chests giving some gen progress, but it seems more complex than needed. Increasing the quality of items that come out of chests, giving them quicker opening times, would seem to be more straightforward solutions.

but it seems more complex than needed.

Yeah I agree, it’s a thorn in the idea for me too. I like all that you wrote, especially about the chests.

  • I read what everyone wrote and you all have good points.

For me the only reason I feel like it has to be this way is because gens will always be a better option given the choice. I feel that tying side objectives to the main objective is the only way. It still has the potential to be slow down, and the bonus can be tweaked to where it still technically would have been better to sit on a gen, but at least this way you’re still advancing the main objective.

Yes I can see how it could be a straight buff but I can also see how it would leave other players feeling good about your teammates’ choice to do side objectives.

This is no way a rebuttal to any of the counterpoints mentioned, just some general musings. I appreciate everyone’s input.

  • @Ayodam said:

I like the idea of totems and gens being more useful but I think anything that allows survivors to complete gens faster is gonna be hated by killer mains. I think they tried to get survivors on totems with boons but we see how that turned out. Now they’re releasing random perks that encourage survivors to interact with totems and chests but nobody runs these perks.

Well I’m a Killer main 100% but play Killer/Survivor 40/60 and the risk reward seems really fun to me, even from a Killer POV. If it ends up being a problem numbers could be tweaked. But as a whole I just can’t seem to let go of this idea.

  • @totallynotamegmain said:

very funny idea; DBD but everything is 1000 times the stats. Billy moves at 1000 times his movement speed in chainsaw, hooks take 70000 seconds per stage, gens have 90000 charges each, etc.

This is definitely a serious suggestion and not a stupid idea where I wanted to see what would happen if this was a thing. Definitely don’t post funny things that would happen because of this.

Infection stays on objects for at least 40,000 seconds, or 666.666 minutes…. 😨

  • I think Bhvr has done a really good job of making them recognizable. It’s like I know what Survivor is coming to me for healing based off of their injured sounds.

It’s one of those difficult things that Bhvr pulls off so well.

I really like Tobalanding because it looks very unique and cool (the futuristic birds and flora are wonderful). The map also has these fly traps that you can use as an info tool or the ramps that make the map more unique and special in a good way. Lastly, in my opinion, it is a very balanced map because survivors can and have good safeties but no big bs like other maps have. The map also has good line of sight blockers but is also open and a fair size without any strong three gens.

I like this map from the ascetic and balanced aspect.

Waaiiiit a minute… the fly traps are motion detectors?!

I think I'm one of the only people that actually likes Toba Landing. Aesthetically, the map is beautiful, and gameplay wise, I always felt it was fairly balanced. I wish they kept some of the foliage from the PTB, but that's really my only gripe with it.

There’s so much to look at, so many little details. I agree it’s beautiful. And terrifying too. It was the people in the walls that took my breath away the first time I saw them.

I’m glad to see that this map came up as a favorite. Thanks for sharing 😊

  • @jesterkind said:

Hypothetically, if BHVR ascertained likeness rights to certain properties but all they could offer was a map, would that be worthwhile?

If we assume for a moment that the map is reasonably balanced - a large assumption, I know, but if we don't make it the conversation fizzles out immediately - would you enjoy seeing familiar locations without killers and survivors attached?

My example for what this might look like is CoD Zombies. Kinda hard to do a good killer or even really survivor here… but Kino Der Toten would kinda be cool to see as a map, I think. What do you guys think?

    ……………… 👏👏👏

Jester…. I’ve always been grateful to you because you helped me with questions I had regarding the game a while back. I also enjoy reading your analysis on the game whenever I see your posts.

    This idea… Is. AMAZING!!!

there's so many cool details and the atmosphere is just so creepy, it really makes the match feel more tense and well…more like a horror game! tbh i dont always enjoy actually *playing* on this map, sometimes i get a little disoriented, but im happy every time i get it, i know it'll be an interesting and spooky match :D

Wow I felt transported back to the level after reading what you wrote! It really is a magical map in a creepy way isn’t it? I smiled reading about the locker body jump scare lol. The caged bodies that scream and spasm are particularly disturbing.

I massively enjoy the Swamp Maps, always have. For some reason I've consistently done very well on them over the years, in either role. I love playing around the little boat for instance, and the angled sides are fun to me. They used to be so much larger, and hatch spawns there are still crazy.

Ages ago they had early renderings of a village-tyoe version that I hope someday is added in. Maybe when that realm gets its graphical update.

Hey JPL! The swamps are cool huh? The swamp maps always intimidate me, I don’t even know why haha. Oh wait, maybe it has something to do with all the cannibal cages.

I like the angled sides too. Awesome map pick. Great taste! 😊

  • I notice it but only because I’m looking for it. I like the change and in my opinion it does help a little bit. Let me explain how I see it:

As with many things in this game, this game is about bluffing and calling your opponent’s bluff. All Killers and Survivors play differently but at the root of the game there is this idea of respect vs greed. Pallets are obviously an easy way to see this concept. If a Killer respects a pallet, you know the Survivor can greed it. However, if the Killer calls the Survivor's bluff the Killer will be rewarded with a hit. If the Killer greeds a pallet then you know the Survivor can punish. If the Survivor plays it safe by pre dropping, this telegraphs to the Killer that the Killer is free to greed loops by cutting off Survivors since the Killer knows that the Survivor will waste animation time dropping pallets vaulting windows etc.

This concept of respect vs greed extends to the whole “hook game”. The Killer can camp the hook or patrol the map after hooking. If the Killer camps, the Survivors can punish this by staying on gens and trading hooks at the last minute. If the Killer patrols then the Survivors can punish this by going for a quick unhook.

The Killer can also bluff by acting like they aren’t camping when they actually are (proxy camping). The Survivors can call the bluff by staying on gens and forcing the Killer to go to them or else the gens get finished. If the Killer goes to patrol the map/gens then the hook is left open for a safe unhook.

Through the lens of greed, respect, conditioning, bluffing and calling, I have felt and noticed (again because I’m looking for it) that the 10 sec as small as it is does give the Survivors a little bit more room to punish the Killer.

I recently took a trip to Las Vegas and got to see the Killers at Caesars Palace, it was so so so cool. I’ll never forget it. 🥰

I'll probably play Dbd today or tomorrow and since I’m a huge Castlevania fan I’ll be purchasing the chapter plus all the costumes 😄

  • I must be a masochist because I find it hilarious trying to crawl away to where the Killer can’t find me.

Slugging doesn't bother me personally, even with Knockout, but I think that’s because I really love when any opportunity opens up to use dying perks like WGLF.

  • I’m part of the 3% who use map offerings for aesthetic reasons. When it comes to how you play, I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. We’re all (should be) consenting adults. We all know what we are potentially in for when we load up the game.

I see your responses a lot @Akumakaji and I like a lot of your posts. From what I can see you embody the spirit of Killer in this game. I would be proud of that no matter what trash talk you receive.

  • @HerInfernalMajesty said:

As an upfront I want to state my main purpose from the start. I want games to last satisfyingly longer.

With that being said… I have finally stumbled upon the joy of slugging.

Let me preface this provocative topic with a disclaimer: Slugging as a means to slow the game down (which I will get into detail below) NOT the kind of slugging that forces Survivors to bleed out for no reason at all or to get the 4K.

When I play as Killer I enjoy the role as the more “relaxing” role compared to Survivor. Yes there is more interaction but there is also no threat of being eliminated from the match early. As a Killer you get to play the whole match from beginning to end. In this way the role feels more relaxing as you can play however you want without it ending.

When I play Killer I do not care whatsoever if I get a 4K or the Survivors get a 4E. As I have stated in previous threads my sole intention is to provide a thrilling game full of interaction and variety.

Based off of this I do not fully adapt to the situation in order to win. If you are trying to win as the Killer then matches require you to adapt to dynamic situations where you tailor your next move according to changing conditions. This is not how I play.

When I play as Killer I play according to a system. My system is highly basic and non-competitive: I patrol generators until I find a Survivor. I kick the generator then engage in chase. Once I down the Survivor I hook them and then proceed to patrol generators. Under this system I will not go back and patrol the hook. I will not go back to hit the newly unhooked Survivor if I haven’t found someone else yet. I give a free unhook every time basically.

I continue to do this until the game ends either with a 4K or X amount of escapes. I play this way as a means of slowing the game down enough to feel heart-pounding and thrilling. It works because I usually get to chase and hook all four Survivors at least once a match.

However, there is one issue. Sometimes the game is over too quickly. When I play this way with say Trapper, it’s not rare that I will get 3-4 hooks total the whole match before everyone escapes. For the Survivors escaping that’s great! But in terms of providing a thrilling game, it leaves some room for desire. So I kept thinking, how could I slow the game down (without over relying on generator slowdown perks)? How could I slow the game down but keep it thrilling without it feeling cheap to the Survivors?

Then it hit me, slug them! What I mean is slugging the first person I chase and then hooking any other Survivor after. Always having one slug on the floor makes it so that a lot of time is sunk into healing instead of being on generators.

It seems like I have found my gold standard for playing. Let’s say I leave a slug on the floor and then go to find another Survivor. The slug takes more time to heal than an unhook. By the time I down my second person often times the slug is still on the floor. In this way the Survivors have received two chases for the price of one hook. If by the time I down the second Survivor the first slug was picked up, then the second Survivor becomes the new slug.

If this keeps happening to where the slug keeps getting picked up before I can down a second Survivor then the Survivors are getting massive value since they are still doing generators as I am not gaining hook states. However I am still personally winning as the matches are going by slower and the generators are not being completed as quickly.

Philosophically I enjoy this play style because I believe that I have integrated slugging into normal gameplay that feels thrilling, interactive, and provides variety for different perk builds. There is always this feeling of pressure to act. And since slugging is built into my system of play, every Survivor that has dying-related perks will get the full use and benefit of said perks. There are so many times I want to use No Mither, Tenacity, or Unbreakable to their fullest extent but rarely ever get the opportunity. In this way any Survivor that wants to run such a build will receive the full chance to do so.

I play this way only when there are four Survivors in the trial. As soon as one Survivor dies then I go back to my old system of keeping chase, hooking the downed Survivor, and then leaving to patrol gens. I don’t slug for the 4K or to deny hatch. There are of course normal caveats like if you down a Survivor but another Survivor is right next to you then I will of course chase the most recent Survivor I see.

Overall I really enjoy this play style because it slows the game down without it feeling like there is no counter-play. In fact the Survivors have ample opportunity to punish this way of playing. I hope it doesn’t feel overly oppressive and instead feels thrilling and whole for everyone involved.

I know that this play style is probably common knowledge to veterans of the game. I am just so thrilled to finally find a way to play that makes the game exciting (hopefully especially for Survivors) that doesn’t feel unfair.

What are your thoughts? Is this way of playing with slugs unfair? Is it too oppressive? Is there a place for “fair slugging”? Thank you so much for entertaining the concept and my musings.

I would give Dwight the Brad skin and Felix the Rocky skin.

Omg!!! Felix with the Rocky skin!!! 🤯 It’s perfect!!!

I'm not sure how many people like horror lit here, but if nobody has read any of Robert W. Chambers' The King in Yellow that's one helluva weird, good read.

I'd also like to recommend if you want unhinged visuals and an absolutely OPPRESSIVE feeling film, the stop motion film Mad God. It's truly bleak, and very unforgettably strange.

The King in Yellow is literally on my dresser right now 😂 Have you seen “Cigarette Burns” yet? It’s one of the Masters of Horror shorts done by John Carpenter. 💀🩸🪽

I’m savoring my first Mad God view. Once the time is perfect I will watch it.

Jars of salty lips will finally be pulled out the pantry and be tossed into the campfire

The jar is so gross. Even after so much desensitization, it’s still so gross to think about! 🤢

Do you still only struggle 3 times? or will it be 4 times…

    This changes everything.

Mostly joking, but an extra 4% chance is actually statistically advantageous. Slippery Meat meta?

Ha! 😂 Can you imagine? 4 Slippery meats each with 4 chances? That’s funny

  • Wow maybe. I really hope not but it could happen.

  • Classic. Wow it would actually work out pretty well. Who would get the Brad skin? Dwight? Felix?

Each times, I want to play killer, IF I take a killer with I'm good at , I got some good game, some difficult game, but it's… Always on the middle ground

    BUT

IF EVER I DARE to take a Killer that i never play with, like (for myself) Pyramid head, Ghost Face, Nurse
I'm always against a very strong opponent, in majhority of case, a very good coordinate SWF

I want to understand, why I never have or pretty rarely these kind of team when I play a killer with I'm good at, but each time I want to try someone else, I got this scenario? Just pure bad luck?

I think that MMR is like a ladder where all Survivors and Killer fall along it. I think Trapper and Freddy probably exist in a lower mmr bracket, so the best Trappers probably face the average players of a Nurse player.

Also, each Survivor may have their own Mmr for each Killer. So two survivors may have the same mmr against a hag, but different mmrs against Oni or something.
