It is a bully mentality. All 4 survivors can escape, they will trash talk. You kill all the same 4 survivors, they will still trash talk... It's just a terrible cycle.
You can report them for harassment. Or just keep your chat clicked to off, so you don't have to see the potential jerks that are on there.
I am very sorry you were harassed and disrespected you didn't deserve that. Sadly it does happen, especially to people learning the game. Bad games happen, so does good games. Just keep learning and play, and don't let people get the best of you. Keep doing you. Enjoy the game as best you can and have fun.
-
Also, to everyone who thinks there is a "stigma" to being in a SWF so they lie about it... They lie to not be INSULTED.... I have this to say:
Why not say, nothing? Why not just leave and end the chat? If you are a SWF and you just "won"... why gloat about it in the end game chat? What makes you so special? Just GG and leave the person alone. No ones saying you have to sit there and BE insulted... just leave. People are human. If they lost, they might get emotional about it. Be a nice human being, and/or leave. I mean, I have seen "HAHA GG ez solo btw luls! " etc (and obviously much worse). Like, What the hell? It's uncalled for.
Don't lie. Be nice. Move on.
I don't see an issue, aside from the obvious lying. Treat others with respect.
There is no reason to lie. No one NEEDS to lie.... Like.. I don't take the Oh he twisted my arm to do it.... no... no they didn't...
-
I had to stop reading a lot of these posts....
The point is, SWF members LIE about being in a SWF team. Fact. Now, Why?
People are in SWF teams, legit they are all friends with each other and you know they are. (profile, literal evidence) But they DO lie. They will lie straight to your face as if they get some thrill or kick out of it. It makes zero sense.
And then not all SWF are 4 mans. So when you have a solo survivor going hey I am solo, these others guys MUST be solo even tho we played exceptionally well and body blocked etc etc... That MAY not be the case... you know? It could be a swf and they are just completely lying about it but you believe them because hey,,, you ARE solo... so... ya...
I mean there is legit proof of it... but they will lie, and I don't just mean Oh I am assuming because of their playstyle. No. I am straight up talking proof/evidence. (unprivate profiles etc). And it makes it exceptionally "coincidental" When you literally run into the same "NOT" SWF members .... 3x or more.... Wow matchmaking must really like the same people together.... Oook. Sure. Win or lose. They will lie... I don't know why. I think the entire thing is stupid and pointless. There is never a good reason to lie.
Because of this, it is better to just assume. Sadly. I really hope they implement a better system to tell you afterwards. There is no downside not too.
-
Oh. Sooo, they won't even be able to equip charms then o_O
-
So... Charms are like very bad.... and good..
They are bad for survivors as they are really bright and shiny, and great for killers because they are so shiny and easily can spot a survivor from afar... lol
The hook ones tho are pretty neat. Super pointless. But neat?
But in all honesty, I'd sooner prefer hooks that looked and matched the specific killer you play, over just decorating it with charms...
Overall, I don't really care for them at all. Guess I'll say I'm not a fan.
-
Insta heals are getting nerfed
Object of Obsession is getting "nerfed".
People are using these things more now because of the upcoming changes. So, the imbalance and insanity of these abilities is showing more. And it's shown even worse with the SWF teams, which further fuels hatred towards swf or possible swf teams.
-
Just as Volfawott said. They should allow you the function to mix and match sets you own and don't own. Like one shirt and pants to sets you do not own, to see what they look like and if you like them together.
-
Being human. Humans are emotional. There are positive and negative, people feel compelled to leave either types. A profile that is open to the public, sometimes people want to share their experience like a rating system. (It used to be for +/- rep for trading wasn't it? ) Anyways.
I've had people pleasantly compliment mine or even one was like I am sorry! I thought that other teammate was going for you or w.e etc. lols. But it's just a game. You shouldn't care THAT much. But people will. I think it's apart of learning and growing up. Maturing.
Also comments are a way of being "seen" you can't ignore it. If it is on your profile you are definitely going to notice/see it. Maybe not read it all, but you still noticed it. If you left the match right away or they didn't feel like they yelled at you enough etc. That is another reason.
For me personally, it is very rare for me to comment, if I really enjoyed the match or thought they were a really good person. I do like leaving a nice little happy message on people's profiles. Like hey thanks for the fun match! Just like a little nice karma memento. I just like spreading good vibes. We are all human after all. And I know I enjoy happy comments and I hope others do too :) and if not... there's always the delete button lol.
-
You are also in the lower ranks... DC'ing tends to happen a lot for stupid reasons... like "I think you are hacking " " or that hit was BS " "you couldn't of seen me" etc. Not that it doesn't happen in any rank, but I notice it way more in those ranks, myself.
Currently with Dedicated servers there are a rise of people that are "Dcing" that aren't even doing it intentionally, as well. So there's that.
-
Also, does anyone else feel like the "specialness" of the Halloween event is kind of reduced now that the vials aren't collected in a match directly but through the battlepass instead?
That exactly. I am not excited at all about the Halloween event, there is nothing special about it (yea you get more BP IF you do the special gens/hooks). It's been completely taken over by the battlepass and now you can "get it before the rift closes"... has nothing to actually do with Halloween. So what if you can get it done LATER, maybe even past thanksgiving.... that completely trivializes actual HALLOWEEN itself... right now ... this month...
/shrug.
I liked it being apart of the game/match. And them shoving it up into the battlepass, just makes me think about the having to PAY to unlock EVERYTHING, which makes me think... am I missing out? And its an EVENT everyone who PARTAKES in it... should not miss out on stuff.... so its just ... meh.
*spits in disgust*

That is reportable/bannable. I will say I go for the sandbagger person, it is my instant way of punishment... Sadly, killers will choose to take advantage - if you were hurt, or go for you... but I like to think most will just purely go for the sandbagger, as I do.
I would say killer coming should hit them, but with dedicated servers, I have seen time and time again, the killer swings and it literally goes thru the person "body blocking" and hits the other person... I don't even know how that's possible.. but it has been happening.
-
So. I get that it can be annoying. but I also see where killers come from. Higher ranks/red ranks. You basically are forced to get 4k's to pip sometimes. So there is some "sweat" there. A lot of killers aren't really that sweaty and don't care that much.
Slugging is useful in situations like:
You know where the other person is, and can finish the game. (I.E you passed them or literally just see them in front of you etc) That won't take TOO long unless they get looped quite a bit.
It can be useful yet very inconvenient to the survivor, to slug and when you get picked up by the teammate then the killer knows where both of you are. (Even though some mates will let you bleed out and stand on hatch). However, I sort of disagree with this approach. If I don't know where the survivor is, usually just to save time, I will hook. And hope BBQ or something kicks in to help track them. If the killer knows where hatch is as well. That's also a reason not to slug.
With that said.... it can be frustrating. And what I recommend, is change your perks. Bring perks like unbreakable and tenacity. It's more frustrating when it feels like its repetitive or every game. It would be nice if a slugged person regains POINTS while they are mending themselves or something. Idk, surviving points... idk haha anything. Just to make it feel like less waste of time, and less frustrating.
Maybe we can make more perks for slugging type things, I don't know. But for now, I'd recommend change your perks up. Even if it doesn't happen, at least you are ready for when it does.
-
Left For Dead
As the last person still alive, activate the last generator and escape through the exit gate.
Is another achievement that now with EGC I would say it is much, much more difficult... Especially with the fact they changed the perk left behind to no longer do gens MUCH faster.... so..... yea. Did they change it ? I had this completed so I don't know if prior completions will show it was changed or not.
-
Oooh. And I thought of something else. Maybe like a jumpscare with lockers. like something popping out of lockers or something. type thing.
It could grab or slow the survivor. Or just alert killer/stop survivor from hiding. -- Not with all of them tho. Either randomly or few selected ones or something. maybe it rotates around or something Idk. depends on what its doing lol.
kind of trying to think of more "scary" things, as well. I was also thinking in general about a killer, idk about this one. but like, one that kind of punishes survivors for being close to eachother and maybe close + being near killer... like basically I am thinking about SWF, how sometimes they are all around swarming messing around type thing. LIke they aren't really "scared" of the killer... and I want the killer to be able to have a fear factor if you will... maybe a perk idk. Just some random ideas as I am sleep deprived.
-
Frankly. My opinion is. That survivors should have the separation one, and the killers should get the together one.
When used, if the killer quickly finds the survivors, there is a greater chance to snowball and he knows where all the survivors are (or at least in one area if he gets one), now with infectious fright that could be even more devastating.
It's in survivors best interest to avoid the above and separate, especially at the start of the match.
-
There's the movie or just the lore of Krampus.. but ya... would be neat if he had some built in franklin's or something (Santa gives/krampus takes)... and/or did something to items... maybe left "gifts" that malfunction or turn on survivors. Doing something special to chests.
Maybe has some ability to block doorways/escapes. Like a decoy body or jumpscare puppet out of nowhere.
-
I think Hawkins is like the most equal map of them all. Killer and Survivor, it doesn't favor either or. And that's really fun.
-
Sounds like they were confused as you were.
It's a glitch. If you do it intentionally you get banned... if it may be unintentional... you apparently still get banned. There used to be a way to do it, but they patched that out. However, there are reports of it happening again, with dedicated servers. They were probably unsure of wth was going on, but will most likely get instant-banned before they realize it. :| There is no known way to force this to happen to my knowledge, so I am doubting it was intentional.
Were you on PC/console? etc. Any information like that might help them pinpoint the issue.
-
OMG. I am not crazy! I've been noticing the same things... Survivors are like FLASH. They just zoom zoom while in a straight line even, can't make up any ground. Even bloodlust 1 was ineffective.... I thought it was me....... I'm so glad I am not alone here!
Oh and its not 100% of the time and its not ALL the survivors, and not every match either. (And no not talking about sprint burst. ) Sometimes I even try to run in like a diagonal line... like where I know they HAVE to go to (normally that makes up ground, if that makes sense), and that doesn't even help me....
I will say, I don't think I'm "slow" like blood lust etc makes me feel like my speed is in fact increasing. Just survivors seem way fast. idk. It's just been so weird.
-
To be fair, this seems to be how it works ? I only just started hopping by the forums often. I know most other forums that I have personally been too, usually toss threads into one, or just make one singular mega thread removing the rest. etc. So seeing multiples, isn't too surprising to see a bunch. But...
I mean idk... The dev's request feedback and people give then give it... Just seems like that's kind of the purpose of "complaints" in general.. so o.o /shrug.
Seems normal to me.

Did I have fun? Yes/ No

I, frankly, Despise OoO. So anything that would make it less horrid I'm for.
A perk to let one guy see the Killer at all times. Who thought this was a good idea?
Yeah. This. I don't think this perk is very balanced at all, and it adds to killers being ENTIRELY frustrated in dealing with SWF, and I know certain killers especially get completely screwed over. I think it needs to be balanced to more killers in general. And also maybe help the killer in actually dealing with the communication aspect of SWF's etc.
I think it definitely at minimum needs to be tweaked to some regard.
-
So, it depends on your rank. Lower rank you are easier it is to double pip. You can even let a survivor escape and still double pip etc. Higher ranks you can't show much mercy because of the scoring. Same with disconnects at lower ranks, doesn't really matter. You can get away with a lot more.
But as others said, you need time to build up your emblems. Can't destroy a team in seconds. However, if you do, you can just let them reset. Then proceed to destroy them again, proooobably will be good for double pip at that point...
Keep going at it and you'll get it eventually. Just don't let it stress you out :)
-
Every time I hook a survivor..
...ahem *walks off*
-
I'd like to think there being a third option.
Certain circumstances I don't feel it's right to do. Other situations it's just strategy. Like the survivors making mistakes etc. Survivor running at you or into you etc. Just a lot of situations.
However, It's completely wrong and improper to go after someone, specifically targeting them and only them, to either mori them or remove them as fast as possible, when lets say there are other injured survivors in view and/or in range even. Or 3 other survivors on a gen working next to you... etc etc. That's just wrong, IMO. And frankly makes no sense.
My vote is "Yes and No, It depends"
-
So, I see this post wondering where the dev's have been with communicating to the public. And then I see others commenting on where they are currently.... so they obviously cannot communicate right now.
The two seem to be different.... *scratches head*

i think it would work with your version, but still this full aura reveal of the current version gives this evil dead spirit and matches so well with the franchise, it wouldnt be the same, you know what i mean?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/763161#Comment_763161
Isnt that the sense of an rework? (for example: Tinkerer) This completly understandable, cause the difficulty to balance MoM, many players suggest a complete rework.
Fixing the protection hits would be one step forward, but wouldnt make the perk less trash tier. It needs adjustment/an rework, but in a balanced an fair way.
Ahoywolf meant it to be an perk that can be multiple times be activated.
Oh Misread this
Mettle of Man can be activated more than once.
So a multiple use self care + we'll make it.
Personally, I think MoM was nerfed because it was strong... And I think it is still a viable perk with some tweaks. Being Ash, I pictured the perk with him giving his middle finger to Evil. Just fast self caring in a corner... Idk... that doesn't seem like a very Ash thing to me. I just think of something that "sticks" it to Evil is all.
The Ash Vs. Evil Dead
Mettle Of Man
Elk Grove undergoes a major battle that takes place on the streets, Ash rides high in a military tank, speeding across shaky, post-apocalyptic Elk Grove. Ash fights the biggest battle of them all - a sixty foot tall Kandarian demon.
Ash Williams: "You want to test the mettle of man, huh? How about you *taste* the metal of man?"
-
I really think if protection hits actually counted (all of them) it would be alright.
The balance of this perk, is making it harder to obtain. It shouldn't be easy, IMO. It needs to take some amount of effort to activate, as it's a free shield basically. I've seen people still activate MoM btw... I assume people just don't want to take the effort to do that most of the game, and the frustration when hits don't actually count that should.
This re-work.... I really don't get.. This is like an entirely new perk suggestion o.o
If I am understanding you, It's basically a one time use heal, combining self care + we'll make it. I'd just make another perk name for it to be honest o.o
-
Yikes :/ There's people out there, including streamers that lost legacy and can't get it back from the dev's proof or not :(
But.... MAYBE..
Use this link and try to send in a ticket. If you had a screenshot or something as proof. Send that in too. Good luck!
-
Whatever you want it to be.
-
So. It happens to you " a lot ".
You "feel bad" and also find it funny.
And you continue to do it.
Normally if someone feels bad, they don't continue to repeat the thing that makes them feel bad. Which makes me think you don't actually feel bad about doing it in the first place.
Regardless.
Like others said you can use BT, this way when you dead hard and save yourself from a hit the unhooked teammate can tank the hit and have some chance to try to get away. You can also stop using dead hard as you "instinctively hit it", replace it with anything else... You could just not unhook in front of the killer (which was mentioned as well.) You could work on a gen, for a period of time passes, or once you see the killer found someone else, you can go in for the rescue easily, as he is clearly distracted then etc.
Like... I don't see what you are doing as an accident I'll be honest. Just don't do it... and it won't happen to you... I'm not really sure what else to say...
Edit: I guess you could also just take the hit and get downed. Maybe have unbreakable and pick yourself up as he may go after the unhooked person as well. And you get to pick yourself up. etc. If you are using WGLF this gives you an easy 2 stacks. Safe hook rescue and unhook. Also you lose points for unsafe hooks which is what this is considered.
-
So, this game has alot of "questionable" things.. I would call what he did, being ignorance, not trying to falsely report or harassing. I mean, I am sure he genuinely believes it.... And he didn't go out of his way like, if he went to your profile and talked ######### etc. Messaging you to talk ######### etc or even just talking all kinds of other crap in chat to you... like all that stuff is easily harassment. But again, I think he was just upset and really thought you were a cheater. And especially being low ranks, a new player seriously does not know the scratch marks etc. If they never played killer, they have no idea what the killer can see and for HOW LONG... as well..
If someone is mistaken it happens. I think it would help him if he understood the game more, play longer, gained more experience. He'll most likely stop on his own, knowing that it ain't going to do anything (because its not cheating/bannable). Saves others a headache to listen to and he doesn't have to appear "stupid/ignorant". Win/win. Rather than just banning everyone or punishing everybody.
That all being said, I am sure most of those reports get tossed. There are several reading aura's and ..ya.. I just wouldn't worry about it. If they are like other companies it would take several reports of the same thing to "flag" you and such.
-
Getting all my stacks. Getting a good amount of BP.
Also just having a fun time in the match. Whether that's getting stacks or doing a great chase. Getting an amazing hit/dodge. Sometimes its just completing a steam achievement.
Definitely not about "escape or kills" for me. Not at all. I like the games where it is pretty even in skill level. And it's challenging in a way. Those are fun. "gen rush" and leave or instant 4 ks... not fun.
-
Pretty sure the Withered blight event goes from Oct 22 to Nov 1st. It basically seems like they are making it an extra BP kind of event. Nothing special. But ya, got to await the dev's official response if they are changing or altering things.
Who knows....
-
Yes but there are times where the match was out of my hand and I lost my rank due to it.
So, to me I don't see how that is a yes or can be. It isn't fair and that's a great reason why it isn't fair. You lost rank due to circumstances that aren't your own. You load in as killer. Everyone DC's. You depip. That's not fair.
And as mentioned about a killer kills TOO FAST and "wins". They lose out. Instead they have to actually be "less" aggressive. And play with their food. If they want to be high ranks...
Thinking about it, would you really want a killer that can completely decimate teams with seconds/minutes... to end up with the lower level unskilled survivors? How is that fair on those survivors? It makes no sense to me.
I like to think each tier, has similar skill set of people, and as such you get to practice your skills, hone them and get better at the game. To me that is a good ranking system, one that fits you with others of similar skill. And the skill is actually based on your personal skill. Not others. That seems fair to me.
-
Their ability to communicate with their playerbase.
Dedicated servers . Very buggy. Constantly kicking people, lagging, desyncs etc
Rank Reward system (would help with DC's)
-
I don't mind rank reset, but it needs to bump people down more slowly... then just BOOM instant mid/new player rank tier.... like wut... I don't get how being red rank bumps you down the most of all the tiers. Like if people are red rank, they clearly are playing often enough to not lose "skill" ... for people that say take a few months off or something they probably don't have too much of the same skill anymore and could use some "practice".
I think the best way would be is if someone doesn't play the game a certain period of time. Start bumping THEM down slowly. etc. But I am sure they would have done that if it were possible...?
And considering "rewards" coming soon, I have no idea what possible mess that will entail.
-
It sucks. I noticed the same thing, especially as killer. Game counts it as you personally DC'ed, when you did not at all, and internet was good etc. It's really frustrating when you are trying to get bloodpoints and lose it all.
If only we at least got a cosmetic shirt for the trouble.... "I tested this game and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt".. lol..
-
People are also disconnecting because of dedicated servers (not them trying or wanting to). So, there is that as well...
-
Oh. Forgot to mention I usually use whispers, that helps triangulate them.
-
I'm all ears.
Any aura perks help.
You really need to go by sound, and have a great headset. Look for crows, any movement from them. When you start getting used to looking out for things "out of the ordinary" it can help. Breathing sounds, rustling of the grass etc.
Make sure to hit one so you can hear them a bit better if you have trouble hearing the quieter sounds of the game. haha
If you are lower ranked, usually they tend to hide on the outskirts of the map behind rocks/trees/walls. Can use iron maiden if you think they are going into lockers often.
-
The amount of effort it takes to find a lobby .. and then dc to NOT get any points... you might as well hook farm at that point. you'd get more and less time.
I don't see anyone being encouraged from this. People that will dc... are just going to DC.
They don't have any rank rewards to encourage actually not dc'ing. That will help fix the real issue. Because killers AND survivors alike, hate DC's.
We are at least united in that way... *brings tear to eye*
-
I ran into a doc main on twitch. Otzdarva recommended him. Thought about you! Here ya go:
-
I've also noticed a decline in them offering cosmetics and products in the store to be bought with shards ( the free/earned by playing game currency).
I've been hoping they'd address their practices on this.
-
I missed that stream. Were they saying you could access the paid option like thru shards? (aka playtime to earn it? )
Cause.. then... ya...
You're not wrong.
-
Got to love it... You get told to leave feedback and then get told to take your feedback off the forums because it's disagreed with....
There's no reason to attack the guy for complaining.
The dedicated servers may work great for some, but they are terrible for a lot of people.
Anyways, I'll discuss this.
They don't put it on the PTB because they flat out know that no one is going to install or run the PTB just to test dedicated servers. Other changes, sure/maybe. But people hated playing the dedicated servers there, so they went back to live. The dev's are aware of this.
As for money... and expecting them to use it for purposes of testing and debugging the game.... ehhhh... I don't see that realistically happening. Why pay for something when you can force it for free? And thinking about it, they were the ones that supposedly tested MoM before they released it... thinking it was great and balanced... They clearly need help in my opinion...
However, I definitely agree they should have a notice of changes and communicate way better to their consumers/playerbase. I really dislike that they seemingly change stuff on a whim, and just do not communicate it. (And yes I am aware they can do whatever the hell they want to, that isn't my point at all.) Like matchmaking and stuff, you are playing and suddenly out of no where it's so borked. Like they really screwed up not too long ago, then after it became apparent they were like Oh yea we did that. We are aware etc. Its frustrating that they didn't say, "hey we are changing this. Let us know how it goes"... as opposed to changing things for the worse and finding it out the hard way. Then a "oopsie" later on...
They know we want to be communicated with, but still don't bother... it is incredibly frustrating as a consumer, especially when the game itself has several bugs/issues that need to be dealt with and addressed. That's just how I feel about it.
-
The official response is, that they do not directly ban for that. So, you can, however you are risking changing and altering other files that could lead you to a ban. And if you do get banned from EAC in any way, they can't help you with it.
So it is a "use at your own risk".
-
Forces you to grab them, and use their DS. As opposed to slugging them and potentially waiting out their DS for a minute before picking them up to hook them.
-
I have no idea why people think the only way for a company to make money is through exploitation of their customer/playerbase....
People can choose to go, "WEE! Yay, exploit me!"
But I'd rather not...
We can agree to disagree...
-
lol!
I love this xD 💖
