Nah, picking an item from someone who died and then getting out is not bad manners because you can actually get caught and die unlike the tbaging at the gates which is almost always done in the safety of the escape.

We would be reading a very long essay about Survivor entitlement, toxicity and sad feelings.

Reassurance is a weird perk, the best outcome is when everyone else has it except you, Solo is hell and is as egotistical as it gets, almost everyone uses perks for their own benefit instead of the team to increase their own individual escape chance so people tend to go for those perks.
In SWF is not that useful because camping is not as strong against them so they dont feel the need for it.
Then you have the paywall behind it.

Just because it isn't happening to you doesn't mean it isn't an issue. I could say the same for your complaint regarding DC removal. I haven't experience an increase in DCs since the penalty was disabled. BTW, I'm not dismissing the DC penalty removal issues. Just using it an an example.
I agree, I saw maybe a few a couple DCs from my Survivors and I believe at least one was actually a crash because it felt really random, they were doing reasonably well enough to not feel like DCing.

Nah, people come here in droves to complain about tbags and pointings imagine if you could flip them over...
-
It should work, maybe you registered several hits very fast and they chewed through the endurance, like when Leatherface hits someone, activates it and the next sweep downs them almost instantly.
-
Nah its ok as it is, you should just go and fix gens to force the Killer to come after you or to close it, its a bit tedious but I believe the chance of a teleporting Killer blocking it for skillful plays its worth the time this happens, altough both are fringe cases. It could be made so if the Killer stands on Hatch it autocloses so EGC starts inmediately if they block it.
Also I tremble thinking about all the bugs that could appear if they change Hatch size...

Last time this happened I remember it calmed down after the first days, lets hope its the same now altough the community is so much burned out than the last time so maybe it doesnt.

Did you ever stop and think they might have just been trying to find ways to make the power less worthless than it currently is? The fact you keep forcing their unwillingness to negotiate on them, even now, was exactly my point. Collaboration requires cooperation, and all you have been doing is being argumentative, and you have refused to hold yourself to the same standards by not trying to offer similar concessions that could make decent middle grounds. This is getting pretty off topic so I'm not going to continue that conversation.
You assumed I didnt offer any sugestion because I didnt want to cooperate while in reality its because I dont really know what kind of change could get the ability to make it go in a direction like more versatile but less powerful, I just stated I didnt like tampering with the timer because I usually dont like that kind of solutions, especially to stuff with a very broad spectrum of power. Thats also the reason I didnt offer any downgrade either but I did express my refusal to have egregious buffs without making it weaker.
I think Main event should be changed? not really, its not even Trickster power, IMO its jut a gimmick slapped to him for reasons but nowhere in any of my posts I stated it should stay the way it is nor the devs shouldnt try to find another use for it if they want or find the time altough there are more pressing matters in the game than a secondary skill. And again, its not as useless as OP thinks.
P.D. its not our job to offer solutions or suggestions, we are costumers, our job is to complain about stuff we think should be better, we can have an idea or a suggestion on how we want something fixed or give eachother tips about perceived problems but ultimately its the people selling the service the ones that have to come with a solution, thats why we are paying them for, the "if you complain come with a solution too" motto goes invalid once someone is getting paid to fix the problem.

You literally just started complaining about every extreme thing people want and lumped them all together, while offering no room for nuance, separation, nor compromise from any of them. Thats strawmanning, you're misrepresenting the other position to try to make your own look more sane.
Also you don't have to directly offer a negative to offer a positive. Nobody has stated they weren't willing to compromise in a manner like i discussed, or any other tradeoffs that are fair and reasonable. The fact you just tried to project any of that onto me means you're not trying to actually get any discussion from this though, so i guess further discussion is pointless.
No, I complained after seeing the buff posts and OP general attitude in the thread and unwillingness to listen to anyone tips about Trickster event. Im not missrepresenting anything, OP finds it useless, several people tell him how to use it to get some value out of it and also point (myself included) the skill is very unreliable as a tradeoff for its huge potential for game winning actions, some people suggested some buffs without any tradeoff, then you came up and started arguing with me while agreeing with me to some extent which is weird because it seems a bit hellbent on arguing with me.
Nobody has stated they weren't willing to compromise in a manner like i discussed, or any other tradeoffs that are fair and reasonable.
They should have stated they were willing to compromise if they are, if someone says you "Im going to give you this" and nothing else the logical tought is to think he isnt going to demand anything in exchange, this is the exact same, someone asks for a buff/nerf and doesnt state a tradeoff its safe to assume they dont think a tradeoff is needed (shops have price tags under the products so thats the signal they are going to ask you for money).

You're taking ideas from multiple people and conflating them together, then assuming none of them are willing to compromise in exchange. You're strawmanning everyone who disagrees with you. Its not productive and all you're doing is working yourself up. Also you're not giving enough credit to what "duration" means, it could literally mean that getting a down instantly ends it so that it can't be used to snowball, but it could be used both to spread pressure to multiple people if grouped, while still being able to secure a single down in a reasonable manner.
Im not strawmaning anyone, I dont think you know what strawman argument is, Im not using extreme conditions and arguing only against them, I acknowledge Main Event is situational but when used correctly it gives you a lot of value.
My first post was a direct answer to OP saying main event is useless and I retorted saying is not useless, it can be super strong but its situational and people shouldnt expect to just press a button and get downs effortlessly then I got quoted by you saying what we all have been saying in this thread, the thing is situational and not always gives value, then again I agreed about the situational problem and noted OP and some others are just asking for a buff and now you come about strawmans, me getting worked up or assuming I didnt gave credit to duration, I just think it should be changed in another way instead of just tweaking how much it lasts.
I think you are the one getting worked up.
You're taking ideas from multiple people and conflating them together, then assuming none of them are willing to compromise in exchange.
They are not writting any single downgrade in exchange for the buffs they suggested, I have to assume they are not willing to give them or they should have posted them too. Also I didnt even merge the ideas, the 115% speed and vault is on the same post, the other one is storing the one I ommited on my "hyperbole", are you even reading the posts or do you just come charge at me for some reason?
-
@Ryuhi said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3230114#Comment_3230114
No, instead of whatever that hyperbole you made up is, maybe they'd rather have it more effective and less limited with a tradeoff to something like the duration? Why do you assume people want it to become god mode when all they want is for it to be functional outside of all of the planets lining up or a solstace or two? It needs more versatility and it can lose duration to compensate for that and people would still be much happier with that than its current form.
There is literally people in this thread asking for 115% and vault windows during main event or being able to store it and its not the first time I see people going bonkers talking about it.
And yes we agree, if it were to be made more versatile it should get a nerf in some way, I dont agree with duration because the ability is still a free down if used in a ideal place, making it more versatile broadens the amount of ideal places and that can escalate to a point where once he has it at least someone is going to go down no matter what.
By the way is not THAT hard to get a point where main event guarantees a down, unless very specific maps like Lery's or The Game (hills tiles are deathtraps for it), the problem is having it close to ready to activate when you are there it but thats the problem how the bar charges and then again, related to how powerful the ability itself is.

Oh you're problem is that's too strong? Then nerf it by all means. 15s? 10s good enough?
FYI, if you think that suggestion is too strong, that is exactly how it affects solo survivors. So why is it not already too strong? Oh because it doesn't affect SWFs, so it doesn't always work. Totally fair, right?
Thanks for agreeing that Eruption needs to be changed.
Yes, I think that suggestion is still too strong for a perk with no counterplay for half the Survivors and very little investment, Eruption needs a bigger nerf than that because your suggestion is just a better version of two already good perks paired together.

They are bugged or must be, yesterday there were 100% BP Killer incentives and the queue was around 1 minute anyway.

As a killer, you benefit less from Eruption against SWF. Them being able to call out downs can effectively render the perk useless, and a game against a SWF is already stacked against you, why would you want to make those odds worse by rendering an entire perk obsolete?
Killers and solo survivors alike should want this perk changed into something that doesn't disproportionately hurt solos and effectively aid SWFs by removing a killer perk from play.
As I suggested before, change the 25s Incapacitated to 20s of blocking the gen. It might be 5s less but it will affect all survivors equally, gaining you more value out of it.
So an unavoidable DMS+Pain Resonance that can affect multiple gens at the cost of a kick and without the need of using a Scourge Hook, yep, sounds super balanced.

I think the really high amount of survivors that suicided/disconnected since 6.1.0 and the resulting stomp match just made every survivor lose mmr points. Like a lot of mmr points.
I think its because the less Survivor playing made the MMR bracket so wide it doesnt matter anymore, dataminers already found the softcap is very low and when there are queues it broadens the pool a lot to shorten them so now it just picks wathever is there.
This was happening already before 6.1 but now is even more noticeable because queues increased.

So you regularly find yourself in open fields on lerys? is it often enough that you are able to find a perfect time within the 30 second auto expire to be able to activate the power, sit through the little flourish, and still land all of your knives you need to before they break LoS and you slowly try to get around that same corner?
Its extremely situational, extremely limiting, very map geometry specific, and it has too short of a storage duration for any of the previous points. At least with killers like mikey you can 99 your power and keep it there until you're ready to use it instantly, trickster's power just doesn't have enough killer agency tied to its impact strength: to many factors are beyond your control concerning it.
If all 4 survivors stand in a line and just keep teabagging, yeah sure it'll get some good damage in, but good survivors won't even be anywhere near an open area without having an escape route and LoS blockers to cover their angles.
Of course not, I know the skill has a very limited use and you can spend a few games in a row without being able to use it but when it has the right conditions it can down several people in seconds with almost zero effort and nothing they can do against it, if it was to be made much less situational it would need to be nerfed too because right now whenever I get something out of it is almost always a game winner.
But of course people want the Main Event as it is now but running at 115% speed, vaulting pallets, windows and shooting lasers out of their eyes, which is absurd, especially for a skill that charges passively without much hassle.

Wraith is so hard against players who know his counterplay. Are you kidding me? The burn mechanic is stupid in itself, and what you're suggesting, zigzagging, only works to an extent, because at some point you need to uncloak which means standing almost still. He is nowhere near Nurse or Blight's level and can easily be beaten by solos. That's the skill issue, y'all acting like he's some kind of strong killer.
There is more than weak and super strong Killer, there is an inbetween Wraith isnt weak in the slightest and if you play Wraith and get consistently burnt then is a problem in your end.
-
Used to, around 40/60% depending on queues, mood, etc, nowadays I rarely play Survivor anymore, maybe 1 or 2 games per week, not been playing much Killer either because queues are a bit of a pain in the back.
-
Main event is so strong in open field you can down 3 Survivors easily, I know because Ive done it, do you want to press a button and get a guaranteed down in every single situation?. And Wraith isnt weak in the slightest, the burn mechanic can be easily bypassed by straffing or zigzaging.
This thread sounds like a "git gud" problem to me.
-
It happened very rarely before but now seems more common, Ive noticed it depends a lot on your camera angle, you move it around and sometimes it goes back to normal, go back to initial position and it gets muffled again.

So i'm a killer main but recently I've wanted to try out survivor a bit more. I had a game against a wesker yesterday on eyrie of crows and he was running eruption with Pop. Now i'm not a good survivor. infact im terrible at it, I can't loop very well as im still learning.
I didn't find that erruption was to "OP". Is it annoying, Yeah of course it is, but is it OP, Don't think so. I was playing solo and every time someone got downed erruption activated however it will resulted in us getting to end game and 2 people escaping.
I could see a slight reduction to 20 seconds to the incapacitated but other than that the perk is fairly easy to counter be either letting go of the gen after someone has been injured once or just moving to another gen. There will always be another generator that doesnt have erruption and if a killer is going to spend time going to each and every gen to kick them then the amount of time they waste doing that doesnt really match the time they save by having the perk activate.
Letting the gen go after someone has been injured? You know someone injured can still run the Killer for a lot of time, right? Are you supposed to not touch the generator until you see the guy being downed? Eruption is totally busted, every activation adds 9 seconds per gen affected and if someone is caught adds another 25 from incapacitation for a total of 34 seconds of stalling, no single perks gives so much with such meager requirements, a kick and a down.
Lets compare it to other similar shaving progression and mostly unavoidable perks
- PGTW: same exact requirements and it can give you max 18 seconds of stalling on one gen (assuming you kick a gen at 99%).
- Surge: requires only a down, gives 8 seconds per gen affected and it may affect 3 gens tops for a total of 24 seconds (except on layered maps which can affect many more).
- Pain Ressonance: requires a down and a Scourge gives 14 seconds on one gen.
Now you put Eruption in 3 gens and you get 27 seconds (9 per gen) and if you catch 2 Survivors there is only 1 person being able to progress the objective for 25 seconds, on top of that incapacitated players cant do anything but hide in a locker and wait, they cant even unhook.
Enjoy Eruption while it lasts because its time will come eventually.

I mean we have voice comms on Evil Dead the game and it’s not a problem there. This is the case in many other games as well. This isn’t anything new.
I don’t know where you are located but I barely get anyone in my lobbies that doesn’t understand English, that’s not to say it doesn’t happen but like I said they could make servers based on whatever region they are in.
How would you know to what extent it would be reduced? As far as I’m concerned the problem is the number of servers they have. VPN doesn’t count because they shouldn’t be accessing servers that way anyway.
In Europe, I played DOTA2 several years, a game with inbuilt voice comms, it was useless as a team tool, most often than not it was even a hindrance and I usually muted almost everyone who used it because they werent using it for its intended purpose.
Lets describe how most matches where you actually had a team who could understand at least one language went, first of all teenagers screaming and throwing tantrums (this happened almost always), different nationalities bickering among eachother (in 2014 it was impossible to play if your team had russians and ukrainians because they would sabotage eachother, imagine nowadays...), people who could understand but couldnt speak fast enough to get any real use out of voice, burps, music, music spam, burps spam, music AND burps spam, edgelords being racist/sexist just for the sake of it, xenophobia, people repeating what others said but with a silly voice, people getting pissed at that, dogs barking in the background nonstop (special mention to dachshund, yorkshire and bichon frise owners, small dogs but powerful lungs), some weirdo playing Hitler's speeches over the mic and a long list of absurdity.
That being said sometimes you could actually die of laughter, once there was this guy who started arguing with his wife/girlfriend over the mother in law and we got to hear ALL of it, it was 30 minutes nonstop bickering, some dude with a chatbox spamming Duke Nukem quotes, a guy trying to convince the team the world was ruled by the Illuminati etc.
And as I said, this was when at least the 5 players could understand the same language (usually english) but usually around 50% of matches there was at least one or two people who couldnt understand a single word of anything but their native, they could understand written small orders like "defend" "go mid" "go top" "jungle" etc but other than that? not a single word, especially not spoken, in the end the inbuilt voicecom started to fall into disuse because it wasnt useful.

Think of vhs and the pings would work like that, also who the hell is in the uk region playing with someone who only speaks Chinese? that's not how the regioning works in this game you would have to be using a VPN. If you are well then thats on you for going to a region whos language you cant speak.
You dont need a chinese player to have someone not understanding english, in my country I can guarantee half or more of internet players dont speak english very well and much less understand it when someone speaks at a fast pace and its not a small country you can find players from here on a daily basis, there are several countries with the same "problem" in Europe. Then again, you have Asia, I believe China, Japan and South Korea are paired together and they dont speak the same languages and english there is even less spread than here.

Technically yes it is. Unless I am mistaken SWF does not have aura reading abilities at base. Which is why is mostly asked for solo.
Sure, there would be a language barrier in some cases, but they could implement adjustments to servers so that someone from Mexico isn’t playing against someone from Canada. It shouldn’t be a thing anyway considering that many times lag is at stake and how much it creates ping issues where hits that shouldn’t happen, which makes for a miserable match.
But SWFs are almost always done by people who share at least one language and comunication is what counters Eruption, not aura reading seeing your companion auras doesnt alert you when someone is going to get downed unless you are also seeing the Killer aura, you see someone hurt but you dont know how close is the Killer, he may be 20 meters away or swinging for the down.
There would be a language barrier in more cases than not, Europe and Asia have more players than USA and even then USA can get paired with Mexico and the rest of central America, then there is middle east, Iranians and Israelis dont speak arab and the arab speaking world doesnt speak yiddish or persian, as far as I know Australia is paired with East Asia. You cant adjust the servers for Europe nor Asia because that would reduce the pool of players enormously in some countries.
Hell even at certain times Ive got japanese people on my lobbies with full japanese bios on their profiles and speaking japanese kanjis on chat so Im 99,99% sure they were real japanese and not weaboos trying to put an act.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
Voice comms in solo queue would solve the issue.

If you could add a voice chat or a ping system the problem would go away immediately. One perk is not what makes solo q miserable.
No it wouldnt, what happens with voicechat when you have 4 people in the same team and nobody speaks the same language? A chinese, a korean, a japanese and a far east russian for example or a citizen of USA, a mexican and an haitian. Not everyone speaks the same language.
Pings are ok for certain games like MOBAs because they are just a "put your camera here" signal then you get the info yourself by directly observing wathever is going on but in a game like DBD what does a ping mean? Im going to get downed? I saw the Killer here? a gen is going to pop? People cant even set for what hook dancing is imagine random pings around the map.

Agreed, but the community constantly underrates Wraith and overrates Ghostface for some reason. For me, GF is one of the worst killers in the game constantly since June 2019 (his release), only competing with Trapper.
Ghostface himself is not THAT bad but the enormous amount of bugs around his reveal mechanic and the fact you need to play with a different mindset makes people who are used to regular M1 Killers missplay with him a lot, he is also very map dependant, maps with very low walls makes the reveal super easy.
Its the same with Myers, he is my main, Ive seen people bashing him as the worst Killer overall, the weakest of the weakest and I dont find him weak at all but you have to play with him the right way or you are in for a world of pain.
-
Wraith is so much better than Ghostface mainly because he has mobility, that alone makes him the best stealth Killer. Also Wraith is braindead easy to play, Ghostface requires you to at least know how to approach places so they dont spot you from a mile away.
-
I hope enough people bought Nemesis already so they can nerf Eruption because this perk is a carrot on a stick like release MoM was in its days.

@Sandt21 said:
What you are describing is a phenomena mostly seen in MOBA games called "Power Creep". TO put it as simply as possible, Power Creep is when a character in a video game either strengthens or weakens not because of any change made to the character itself, but instead by changes made to the game around the character instead.
For example, a few years ago in Overwatch, the effectiveness of shields was heavily increased. Shields reduced the incoming damage of each projectile that hit the shielded character. Now, is a single rocket from Pharah hit the shield, the damage decrease would be so minimal it might as well not exist because the damage was done by a single projectile. But Reaper used duel shotguns that shot ten projectiles per gun per shot. Each individual pellet from the shotgun was a seperate projectile, so each pellet got its damage reduced. This was a net nerf to Reaper not because of a change to him, but because of a change to the game around him.
That's the best example I can think of to explain Power Creep. Now lets apply that to the Nurse. While the Nurse has seen some changes that made her weaker, she has mostly gotten buffs not to herself, but buffs though the introduction of powerful perks that synergize with her power quite well. Power Creep in a nutshell
I hope this explanation has been helpful
Thats not exactly Power Creep but its an explanation for Nurse being stronger than ever, mainly because Survivors got so many nerfs while she got only a few.
Power Creep is mostly when newer released content is more powerful than the older by several reasons like bloated skill sets, new skills, new mechanics, monetary reasons etc.

Hag retcon is the best worst retcon of all, its so incredible bad it made me read it twice just to check if what I was reading was real.
I think the lore departament is the one who has plummeted the most in quality over the years, it was never great but at least it didnt give this pretentious vibe it gives now, the feeling is when someone is doing something incredible low quality but trying to sell it as an incredible work of art, worst part is not even funny-bad, its just bad-bad. I honestly believe they should reconsider the whole departament because the direction the took is wrong and the results are abysmal.
It started to go wrong around Plague/Jane but it was still normal, now we have Indiana Jones wanabes, a CIA hacker and a wica larper...
-
I wouldnt buy them because I dont buy cosmetics but its not a bad idea if done right and the genderswaped versions maintain the essence of the Killer.
For example, Clown is a disgusting, dirty, morbidly obese, greasy and overall revolting person, the female version should be on the same level of grossness instead of the usual genderswapped fanarts where ugly people become sexy after swaping the gender. A male version of Hag should also be an emaciated frail looking man etc.
If something like this comes to be, most licenses are not going to be genderswapped, especially Myers and Freddy whose holders are hard to deal with.

Survivors who die before the EGC have no reason to stay around until the game ends unless they are SWF, most of them will just jump into the next game so when you end up winning a game usually its just you and the last guy on postgame chat, people who are not in the postgame screen cant write gg or anything else.
On the other hand when all 4 escape they usually do it at the same time so all 4 are in postgame chat and can chat among themselves.

You don't typically say gg in the middle of a match, and the killer doesn't have access to chat until the end of the match if on PC, I'm not sure if it would save the comment, but it might just discard it
It discards it, not only if you write gg in the middle nobody will read it but if 2 people die at the mid of the game and one goes to Espectate he wont read anything the other person writes. The system is THAT bad.

Yeah is the same thing others did with lootboxes and forced goverments to raise an eyebrow. What I really hate is if you are a Casino and the cops/autorities catch you with an underage gambling in one of your tables you are toasted but online games are unregulated and kids as young as 10 years old are exposed to all those machinations.
These things are devastating on adults who are supposed to be more mature (I know, sometimes they arent) imagine on teenagers, I suppose we will see the effects in 5 to 15 years.

I dont think they made the switch because its more profitable, I think they did it because lootboxes are starting to get regulated, especially in Europe and Asia, for example Belgian players cant buy lootboxes in Overwatch, if the rest of the EU does the same they lose almost an entire continent to profit from their scheme while FOMO is still unregulated.

I don't see an issue with that - for the same price of 2000 shards, you get exactly what you got in the old system, except this time it also unlocks it at T1 on everyone. The old way just made it so that the perks could appear in your bloodweb, which hasn't changed.

I'm not sure which I'd hate more, to be honest. Lootboxes are a whole other can of worms (and one I fell prey to once. Never again, JFC.) I think I'd rather at least have the option to purchase a thing I want rather than throw my money into a blender and hope I get the thing I actually want out of it before I run out of money.
But it's a damn shame, because I really respected DBD for not using this model. And here we are.
Its more about enticing the people, you see a perk 2k, then 4k and finally 6k and you think "this is a hassle to farm, its probably easier to just buy the character and call it a day", it was great to get all your characters to P3 and BAM! no more grinding but with the shrine you see all those rank1 perks you have to grind and you dont want to go back to that...
Before the change there was no option, it was the only way so you had no temptation but now you have a system where you pay money and put some work to rank 150 bloodwebs and forget about it forever or still using the old system... I know because it happened to me, had the tought after all those licensed rank1 perks.
Sometimes a small tweak on something changes the perception entirely, even changing only some words can make us perceive something in an entire different light (there is an example with WoW during beta in 2004 where the exact same system went from poorly received to greatly praised just by changing the description).

Sadly is not the first time they change something for "the best" and then add some monkey paw consequence to it.
The Shrine of Secrets comes to mind, the change they made to grinding looked ok but it also changed the Shrine in a way it makes way more appealing to buy the licensed characters than unlocking their perks on the shrine, since you need 12k Shards for Rank3 perk instead of 2k and 3 Bloodwebs like it was before the rework.

Unfortunately, people have been saying this ever since they first floated the idea and BHVR's marketing team hasn't given one single feck about it. They've already refactored the whole shop pipeline in preparation for it, and at this point, I have trouble believing they'd keep the kind, actual-business-sacrifice part of it and walk back the nasty, capitalistic one.
It's gross, it's predatory, and it's coming whether we want it or not.
Sadly I believe the community brought this on itself, the surveys they make? Im sure they analyzed the data and it showed big $$$ if they added FOMO stuff.
Whales gotta whale...

100% agree.

Teleport-around-map Killers never had a big audience, Hag, Demogorgon, current Freddy and Sadako dont have many players either, Dredge is just a variation of a formula people dont really play much.
Forever Freddy did had a lot of players but mainly because how busted and easy to play he was, once it was toned down people jumped ship.
