Maybe they thought he'd be too goofy looking or something? I don't know.

But medieval clothes werent goofy, they were simpler but they werent clownish at all except certain dresses for royalty and very high end nobles/church and even in Middle Ages they werent that goofish, that was more of a Renaissance thing.

People still had to work the fields, tend the shops and a myriad of very tough jobs that nowadays are done by machines, imagine a guy dressed in one of those flamboyant Renaissance clothes plowing the fields, carrying an earthenware jar filled with water or shoveling horse manure, most people used simpler, more comfortable clothes to go on their daily lifes.

This guy is a huge medieval reenactor (and game developer) his clothes may not be that elaborate but they arent that ridiculous either, with a few tweaks and getting rid of the cap you can have a decent and different survivor that really stands out from the rest of the cast instead of a rad dude who looks out of a music videoclip and ready to go clubbing with the ladies (they can keep the face as it is, I dont care about it and Im sure there were very handsome men in every single period of human history).

in medieval they had sidecut hair though, maybe not as clean as vittorio has but the hair itself would fit. Its the same with those for nowdays fashion VERY weird looking monk hairstyles where they would cut a circle on top of the head and leave the hair around it. "tonsure".

at least they couldve given him a leather armor or a chainmail. but oh well, maybe for future skin versions.

Yeah, the haircut is probably the less anachronistic thing altough the usual stereotype for higher classes is somewhat longish hair or at least thats what most surviving pictures tend to show, scissors were very rudimentary spring type that dont allow for a lot of precission, most people would just have their partner cut their hair altough a noble or a rich bourgeoisie could probably afford to have a servant dedicated to personal hygiene and able to properly cut/shave hair and facial hair. The shaved side is not that wrong but the top is what makes it "no" for me.

Also a common response Ive been reading in other places is "well vikings used tattos/shaved like that" and while is true vikings did that no latin medieval man would be willing to be associated with vikings, especially high middle ages nobility, they were hated universally because raiding, pillaging and paganism and in the low middle ages they were nothing but a forgotten thing of the past.

  • @Laluzi said:

I wondered the same thing. The whole "he takes clothes from other survivors" explanation is a bit weak... hopefully he gets some more legitimate renaissance outfits released.

Like, it'd be one thing if the execution had been flawed and some modern design had slipped in there, but they didn't even try to make him look like he's from the 1300s.

What really saddens is they had the chance to do something really different and we still got "generic handsome chic dude". I miss the average looking joes/janes without perfect bodies or clothes like Ace, Nea, Jeff or Jane.

My friend tested this once lol. If you were to do it in succession:

    Two 5 minute penalties

    Two 15 minutes

    Two 30 minutes

    One 1 hour

    One 6 hour

    One 24 hour

    One 48 hour

One 72 hour, and it caps out here

I know nothing about the deterioration rate, because I've never come close to capping it out lol

As far as I know decay is something around 24 hours without DC it goes down one level, you are at 72, you wait 24 hours without a DC you go down to 48, another 24 and down to 24 and so on, not sure about it but I believe is something like that.

  • Usually Ghostface, probably because people like to see Survivors photobombing it.

  • I hope you like inventory clutter... At least unusable stuff goes relegated to the last page so its not in the middle of the usable offerings.

maybe he will get cosmetics from his time period as well?

lore wise, it’s something new and fresh, so I don’t see why they should limit themselves here? People have been asking for survivors from older times and characters wearing stuff they found in the fog isn’t something new at all - it’s sometimes mentioned directly in cosmetic descriptions

People have been asking for survivors from older times

But we got a ~1950/1970 motorbike dude... they completely missed an oportunity for an older time period Survivor.

I mean Oni has a badass minotaur outfit which has absolutely nothing to do with his time period or region, but its cool as hell and looks amazing so I for one welcome such decisions.

The new survivor isn't even out yet, we'll have plenty of time to understand their decisions with his lore/tome/etc in the future. We can accept or criticize it more accurately later.

The Oni thing is a bit of a stretch, technically its not even the same person but a different character with the same powers, supposedly greek legends merged with The Entity and spawmed a minotaur or wathever. Even if it was the Oni just changed into something else, two bads dont make a right (plus its an alternate outfit, Vittorio main outfit is what Im criticising, I wouldnt like it even as a cosmetic but if the main outfit was a bit more accurate I wouldnt criticize the cosmetic artistic direction like Im doing with its main).

My main complain is game lore is already abysmal, making these artistic choices in my opinion makes it even worse, it totally dissociates the character from his lore.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3251820#Comment_3251820

It’s pretty obvious they weren’t trying to make him actually look like directly from his actual time period…

Then why pick him from the time period? They could go the Jane/Plague route and just release an unrelated modern guy, you can maintain his lore and make it 1950 instead of 1350 changing minor unimportant details like training in rifles instead of swords and the bodyguard who chained him a war vet instead of a knight, the essence remains the same.

If you select a time period for a character you may make some mistakes or adapt certain stuff to make it more appealing or gameplay reasons, nobody is perfect, this is like giving Plague a frilly dress and patent leather sandals or Oni a three piece suit and a top hat.

  • Americans and medieval/classical antiquity stuff is always a recipe for disaster, especially anachronisms.

    • Zippers (invented in 1851).
    • Denim trousers (invented at late XVII century and used for trousers in mid XIX century).
    • Motorbike boots.
    • Motorbike glove.
    • Rockabilly leather jacket.
    • Carabiner.
    • Belt buckle (while they already existed the ornamented piece was near the loop and frame not obscuring it).
    • Tattoos on his chest? It looks like he has some sort of blueish tattoo on his chest and no, just no, in latin medieval Europe tattoos were heavily frowned upon, they were used by the Roman Empire as a mean to tag criminals and associated with the germanic barbarian tribes that put an end to the Western Roman Empire, that carried on into the middle ages and renaissance.
    Marriage.jpg

Supposedly this is a depiction of a marriage ceremony and altough the drawing is not super detailed anyone can see their clothes resemble nothing what Vittorio is using, not even the hairstyle. At least they didnt give him purple clothes

Are they not just going to disappear since they're for a limited time event? Side note: I'd definitely love a partial BP refund when they become obsolete

Probably not, I still have unusable Splinter offerings from 2 years ago cluttering my inventory.

  • @scenekiller said:

I don't understand why they don't just release them all together since they clearly paid for the work to be done already lol

A good artist can make a drawing like that in no time while making the objects for a 3D model takes a lot more, knowing BHVR and their penchant for cosmetics if they dont release them all its because they lack manpower to make them.

  • As Killer not so much but I play Myers and we all know who are the usual suspects who get most suicides and DCs, I barely play Survivor nowadays to even take my data as anything but anecdotal.

  • But thats the same with most Killer descriptions in the wiki, Nurse literally is "The Nurse is a warping Killer, able to blink through obstacles and quickly close gaps with her Power." which also doesnt sound as threatening as it is.

  • @Volcz said:

I was in True's stream today and people got on me for saying it was a horribly designed perk. They decided to blame it on the whole SWF vs Solo problem. I agreed noting SWF and Solo are night/day but by them saying that, they unknowingly were agreeing with me that it was fundamentally a horribly thought out and designed perk.

I asked True what the counterplay was for Eruption as a solo player and I kid you not, he said just don't get downed. I exitted the channel a few seconds later.

Dont know if this counts at badmouthing but Tru3 is probably one of the most Killer biased personalities in the whole streaming DBD scene (at least big time streamers), his fans are the same and in the end his chat is just a massive echo chamber. If you really want to talk about balance there are a ton of more constructive streamers out there, both the streamer and the fans.

Onto the topic, Eruption is horrible overtuned, if you kick 3 gens (nothing hard) and you manage to affect 2 Survivors you get 27 seconds of regression and 2 people not working on gens for 25 seconds, which adds to all the regression already done by the explosion.

  • Myers, I like his playstyle of sneaking around with barely a TR, I play some Jigsaw too but not nearly as much as I play Myers.

  • The collective unconscious composed by all SWAT Bully squads made of Neas, Fengs and Dwights with ugly cosmetics psyches is the oposing force against the Entity. The Entity footsoldiers are the Killers, whose job is to terrorize the Survivors so it can feed on their emotions, the bully squads are the exact opposite, their job is to terrorize Killers and their emotions must be feeding an antagonizing force.

And seeing the forums I think they are doing a pretty good job so far, whatever this "antientity" is must be fatter than a pig the day before slaughter.

  • Extremely high risk and countereable, they are easy to anticipate and can be countered. Most times I see people trying them as both roles they fail miserable and either they give a free hit or a free down.

I dont think they are a problem and honestly I dont think it should be removed, at least not before fixing other more glaring stuff.

  • Good idea but as they said, developers dont seem to be interested in this feature. At this point I would even welcome a "destroy item" option, why do I want splinter offerings cluttering my inventory?

with the state of mmr, are you saying it's the responsibility of each and every survivor to ensure that you receive a tailored difficulty experience?

it's all just circles, so pointless, you will never solve the problem treating the symptoms

Some Killers are the proplayers of Schrodinger, they want to curbstomp and get 4K easily but at the same time want to feel challenged while doing so.

Before Solo was thrown under the bus when someone suicided/DCd a lot of Killers usually gloated about "thanks for the free win" and "Im not responsible for your fun" but after 6.1 when suicides became a mass ocurrence and a problem (especially against especially busted stuff like Nurse) a lot started to complain they are bored because their wins have no substance and after a ~5 minute wait they get a 2 minutes game they feel let down and decide to punish the offender wasting their time (or not, maybe the guy went AFK and is eating a sandwich in the kitchen while bleeding out).

Now they want a challenge and you are responsible for my fun.

it's all just circles, so pointless, you will never solve the problem treating the symptoms

You are so damn right, I wish BHVR started treating the problems instead of symptons with pointless perk band-aids or penalties.

You think swamp is big now... just look at it when it first released.

Im willing to bet we would get a million bugs with the feature but I wouldnt mind they made one or two days per month switching the new maps for the old maps, just so people who didnt get to play them see how they changed.

I didnt get to play first iteration Palse Rose (only second iteration) but it was almost twice as big as it is now.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3247443#Comment_3247443

I wonder what mmr dictates this. I imagine that the higher you are the more you see it.

I am the lowest of the low mmr at this point. I will quite literally kill myself for the last survivors hooked during end game.

If you are so low at MMR maybe you are facing players that dont even know what camping is and how strong it is.

  • As far as I know people still facecamp a lot with Leatherface, myself havent encountered any Leatherface lately because I barely play Survivor nowadays but reading forums, reddit and generals it makes me think its still a prominent thing with him.

  • So you found 16 subtle cheaters in a row? Im sorry but thats hard to believe, the game has a problem with cheating but not to such extent.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Yeah. I sort of agree.

It's a good change, I just think there were better changes to be made first.

I agree too, and this is one of the problems with how the game is maintained by the developers, they never implement changes that affect both sides at the same time, for example they changed Ruin and left toolboxes and repair efficiency the same until some patches later, they nerfed Moris and left Keys for a year (and implemented the "spawn Hatch here" offerings in the meanwhile which made Keys even worse).

Locker saving should be fixed as its uncountereable and usually used by bully squads to troll the Killer at the same time Solo and facecamping need some fixing that should have come with 6.1 but it didnt, this leaves a very sour taste in a lot of players because its perceived as favoritism.

  • @Seraphor said:

Skill checks can only appear once every 3 seconds at most. So wait until you get a skill check, then let go before the next one.

Are you sure of that? Because I recall sometimes having 2 or even 3 skillchecks in a row with barely any time in between, the wiki doesnt say anything about internal CDs.

And thus you make the lives of solo queue players even harder. Teensy bit of cognitive dissonance going on there, eh?

While I agree Solo is horrible its not up to the players to put a fig-leaf over the problem, the developers should be fixing it instead of expecting players to self police the queue.

  • You can use For the People and Alert, Alert to detect where the Killer so you can follow them and For the People to pick up the person he downs, youll end up in the ground instead but it will count towards the challenge.

You can add Unbreakable in case you are slugged to get yourself up.

  • No, Solo queue exists for Killers to vent their frustration, you are supposed to suffer for their enjoyement, imagine the sheer amount of threads here if Solo was bearable in the slightest.

  • Kinship/Camaraderie is so bad whenever people talk about it I have to go to the wiki and check what the perk does because I always forget about it.

Ive never used it and I dont think Ive never seen anyone get any value out of it.

  • In my experience Killers tend to DC around 3/4 gens done with no hooks or onwards, at current state of the game you have to be very bad at Killer to reach that point.

Also they can lobby dodge what they may think its going to be a hard game, 4 Neas with ugly cosmetics and same platform? dodge, 4 flashlights? dodge, checking the profile some dude has 5000 hours and his bio reads "survivor main only, 12934138 escape streak with my buddies" plus 30 pages of "-rep this guy is a massive pain in the butt" steam comments? dodge. If Survivors could dodge Nurses, Blights and Spirits Im willing to bet around half of DC/Suicides would go away.

And then you have the queues, the side with queues tends to be less prone to DCs because they have to wait the penalty and then find a lobby, I remember a few years ago when Survivor had several minutes they DCing was rare while Killers was more common (and there werent penalties yet so you could jump in another lobby in 5 seconds).

If you don't need to camp or tunnel as myers against "good survivors" then they weren't good survivors.

Its been a long time since I saw a true scotsman fallacy.

  • 3k hours into DBD(with most of it spent of killer)

Jack of all trades master of none. I rounded your 3k hours into 4000 and divided by 25 (altough the game has 29 Killers) and it throws 160 hours per Killer (if we use the real numbers is even less per Killer), I have ~2300 hours in the game (probably around half are on Killer) and I may have around 700 on Myers and 300 on Jigsaw, the rest are split between a few Killers I play occasionally and challenges/ritual.

I dont need to tunnel or camp with Myers to get a 4K even against good Survivors if I get a regular map but I also have a ton of time on him, in the end you are facing people with 2000 hours in Survivor while not being even close to the same time on any specific Killer.

Lol so u get mas because they wasted ur time and in response u waste even more time? Letting them bleed out wastes ur time as much as theirs. U should just get ur kills and move on as quickly as possible if ur time and resources are as valuable as u make them appear to be

Damn right, also some people get picked up by their mates and they proceed to the next locker to spam fast actions until the Killer comes and downs them again, slug, picked up, spam fast actions rinse and repeat.

Im not getting paid to police the trials, for me is just easier and less annoying to get rid of them asap.

  • @Sharpefern said:

The difference is they are attempting to skirt around the DC penalty but effectively DCing. They are ruining the match for the other 4 players just to hop into a new match.

While thats true Id rather let people die and be done with the match, at the end 4 minutes of someone slugged is not worth my time playing a pointless match, especially since most people go AFK and let the crows spam notifications which is quite annoying and there is only one way to deal with them.

At first I just let them stay slugged but then I tought "this is absurd, im wasting my time here and crows are annoying to no end" so I started to give the people what they wanted, I see it as time investment/benefit for me and punishing someone is not really worth my or anyone elses time.

  • I dont, if someone doesnt want to play Im not going to be the one forcing them. For me its just better to let them go, stick to a gen to get maximum points, let myself go too and jump into another game, much faster than playing a doomed match.

As Killer if anyone wants an early out they get it, I may or may not go easier on the rest, depending on how they behaved.

  • I dont think neither of those were the direct result of a lot of protest votes, maybe some people did vote for those as a "SCREW YOU, IM FED UP WITH ALL YOUR BS IM GOING TO THROW A TANTRUM!!". You can read a ton of interviews with probrexiters and Trump voters and they do believe in what they voted, a protest voter getting something they didnt really want would be saying "Oh god, why did I vote that? what was I thinking" and you can see thats not the case, especially with Trump, they were told a political discourse they fully agreed with and voted it because it appealed them, the brexiters who now regret their vote are mainly because they realized the promises were lies not because they didnt want what was promised (they voted because they were promised an economic and trade golden age and that was a lie).

There was a protest vote in France many years ago for presidential run, the protest candidate did get to the second run and then got stomped because everyone who voted just to show their anger saw the result as a potential problem so they corrected it (Trump almost wins a second term).

An example of protest vote in USA could be the people who voted for "Deez Nuts" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deez_Nuts_(satirist)

P.D. Not trying to stir any kind of political argument here and if this post breaks any rules please mods just delete it.

I highly doubt it will prevent clowning. Even with the endgame collapse everyone will stay wait until the last second possible to leave. That has always been an unfortunate staple and this will not change that

I didnt say it will prevent it, just lessen it a bit because instances where there are 2 people Tbaging one gets downed and the other escapes during the downing animation now is 2 escapes, with automori is going to be 1 escape 1 morid. At first is going to be the same but after some weeks and some "just leave" clips some people are going to just escape and not risk getting morid because the other guy didnt time his escape with yours.

I think if survivors know their dying teammate in the trial die the moment they leave. They will stand at gate to the last moment.

I was refering more to people tbagging at the Exit Gates and Killer hitting them until they get out, sometimes people stay there until they get downed and crawl during weapon swing CD. With this change if the last person (or the entire team) goes down everyone dies instead of crawling 0'5 seconds into an escape, that may deter some people from clowning around too much there.

  • @Seraphor said:

Shooting themselves and everyone else in the foot then?

Sounds about right for both scenarios. Why not make a bad time even worse for no reason but spite?

People who are burn out dont care about making a situation worse, they just want to vent pent up frustration, thats why sometimes they quit their job making a huge scene, end up throwing their significant other clothes out of the window or exit their car to provoke a fist fight durint a traffic jam.

There are some emotions where people reach a certain point they dont care anymore, like frustration, desperation or hopelesness.

P.D. Almost universally the political clown never gets elected, here the "we are angry" joke parties dont get a single seat at congress, they dont even get a single seat at any town hall in the whole country, so technically they are not making any situation worse because their actions dont really have any meaningful consequence on what happens, that applies to outburst of frustration, people vent and thats it, rarely escalates into something else.

  • Nah, normal 3 gen situations add a layer of strategy, both sides have to work around to the posibility of a 3gen and try to get something out of it.

They should get rid of certain RNG spawns in certain maps where there is a 4 or even a 5gen tho, thats not normal and its just a free win for any Killer with more than 10 hours in this game.

  • I think they should remain as if but as @AnneBonny said increase the amount of BPs you get past the 10k limit. They are meme addons, you dont buff them to be viable in a meaningful way outside of "I want more BPs and Im willing to weak my power for em" situations.

  • @Jay_K said:

But what problem is basekit unbreakable solving? Slugging..which is a legit strategy. What this basekit unbreakable will actually be doing is forcing killers to play a certain way or they get heavily punished for it.

Now yes it will stop 4 man slugs at 5 gens but if the whole team gets slugged like that the game is gonna be over regardless if you unbreakable or not.

However if i down someone and there are 1 or 2 other people around ongoing i'm going to be forced to pick up because otherwise they can pick themself up for free. This stops me making the sencible option of attacking multiple survivors at once. Not to mention if another survivor is around and someone is under a pallet its a lose lose for the killer. either pick up and pallet saved or they unbreakable and drop the pallet.

All this change would do is make it imposible to pick up a survivor as long as there is someone else around under a pallet. meaning all survivors will run in pairs to ensure no one ever gets hooked.

I agree with OP if base kit unbreakable becomes a thing there has to be a counter to it that killers get else your just unnessesarally buffing survivors and screwing over killers (even those who don't hardcore slug)

Maybe they decided slugging shouldnt be a legit strategy anymore, they do that from time to time, using a BNP to finish a gen instantly, using infinite loops and pallet vacuums were all legit strategies until they decided they shouldnt be legit anymore and they got axed (with good reason).

It sounds stupid, but if Last standing mechanic goes live, kill rate may go alot higher than you think.

2 survivors, Dwight is dying crawling close to Exit, Clau tries to heal tech, tank hit.

    • Old: Clau can take 1 last hit and both crawling out.
    • New: any moment Clau exit before Dwight result Dwight moried, or unlucky enough if Clau down backward, both die

Huntress aim a survivor running close to Exit at range, and hit them.

    • Old: there is a chance that survivor will able to crawl out if Huntress if far enough.
    • New: Moried

Trapper with Honing stone, 2 survivors left, Dwight running to gate, Clau in chase. Dwight steps on a trap at gate, Clau down not long later

    • Old: Dwight could escape from trap, dying, crawl out and escape
    • New: Moried

2 survivors left, Killer forcing the Clau out for the game, while the Dwight dying in trial.

    • Old: there is a slight chance of God RNG will spawn hatch right next to Dwight, and escape
    • New: Moried

2 survivors left, Dwight dying on the ground, Clau down near Dwight, killer pick up Clau.

    • Old: there is possible play of Unbreakable to flash light save and both of them escape.
    • New: Dwight has to pick himself up and escape, or die if Clau down.

2-3 survivors down and crawling to exit

    • Old: killers have to pick up, drop, manage hook play to get 2-3 kills
    • New: 3K

I also tought the new mori thing is going to make tbagging at the Exit Gates a bit less common (not much but at least injured people will be more proclive to leave).

Yeah, but then again people can guess it is tombstone and just hide in lockers or play super safe, unless ofc he is albe to ambush them properly...

I don't think black incense, just tracking so... Sure it is strong but not compared to the rest

Dried cherry blossom is such a braindead addon xD I can at least admire people who can hear footsteps and all during her phasing but that thing is just way too easy to use ^^

You cant really anticipate Tombstone Piece it doesnt take that much time to charge to actually make you think "hey this guy has to have Judith's Tombstone" and getting it to 99%, sneaking around with 8 meter TR with M&A, pop out of a corner close to a gen being worked on and get rid of one person is not an issue at all. Ambushing people as Myers is really easy, I do it all the time, even without M&A.

People always justify tunneling off hook by saying "getting rid of someone early and getting a 3vs1 is the best and easiest way to win" (which is true), this addon is literally an even stronger version of tunneling off hook since it bypasses trading hooks, OTR, DS, Reassurance, BT etc.

  • Tombstone Piece by far, it cuts your objective by 1/4 and its not even hard to pull off. Judiths Tombstone while technically stronger has much more severe conditions to activate and get value out of it.

You need 17,5 stalk points to activate EW3 (5 for EW1 -> EW2 and 12,5 -> EW3) even if you use it to get rid of the guy who was 100% full there are still 12,8 stalk points available, enough to trigger a second time, and even if you dont trigger it again you just have to deal with 3 Survivors and Myers may not be the strongest but he isnt THAT weak to not be able to overpower a team of 3 using only EW2.

  • It has happened to me and trying the other role still had a queue up to at least 1 minute (which usually is enough to have bonus even if its not 100%).

  • Legion mending simulator is absurdly mind numbing, probably the most boring and repetitive thing to face in this game and Nemesis zombies while not really threatening they are very unfun to get rid of mainly because it takes ages to lead away from a generator, when there are 7 open its not that annoying but when there is only 3 or 4? Sure I love to walk for 30 seconds while some slow thing follows me like a dog until I think they are far enough and can ditch them after turning a corner...

  • I watched only Myers as he is my main and the one I play the most. Hard pass on everything except the long distance stalking at least in EW1 and addon tweaking, Tombstone addons should go and the "do this during EW1" addons should get changed into something a bit more useful.

Also I dont know what he said about Twins but I disagree, the only change they need is being deleted entirely from the game and whoever utters their name after get hardware banned and/or sent to prison.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 59
