  • Run super hard builds and 'try'- you can't get banned if you play the game but make it harder for yourself. Personally I like running Mettle of Man, Object of Obsession, No Mither and Up the Ante. Ante lets you justify self-unhook attempts, OoO plus No Mither ensures a tunnel and MoM is to screw around.

Speaking only in terms of mechanics I think it's pretty apparent that Trickster needs a little extra to his kit to differentiate himself from huntress and slinger.

I think this could be ameliorated slightly by adding to his base kit. The first thing that comes to mind is to make his ricochet addon basekit- it's by far his most mechanically interesting add-on and would add an additional skill ceiling to what is currently the least mechanically complex killer released since clown (it seems like main event should add complexity, but in practice its something that just happens). From what I've seen of the ricochet, it is very tricky and doesn't offer an awful lot of an advantage to people spamming it. That said, with practice and map knowledge it could actually prove very useful at certain loops and allow the killer to play around dropped pallets in a very unique way.

There is a precident for this kind of addition: blight couldn't originally break pallets and needed an add-on to do so. Since this element already exists in the game it should be entirely possible to add to a killer who is currently lacking.

As a second suggestion- allow trickster to 'kick' gens using his power. 3 knife hits on a gen counts as a break action including all perk effects on both sides (overcharge, alert, oppression... Maybe find a way to exempt pop, but ranged pop on a 110 killer with no mobility isn't scary at all).

Again this is incredibly niche, but gives the character an entirely unique element, doesn't break the game and potentially opens up some unique perk synergies (as it is you'll never see this killer without pop+corrupt+stbfl+barbeque [for bloodpoints]).

    Thoughts? Other suggestions?

Good idea, ricochet basekit would make him much more viable as a Killer (initial thoughts). To add to your point about Blight breaking pallets, they did the same thing with Demogorgon and his Shred attack so that makes it even more likely they'd do it. However allowing Trickster to damage gens is a stretch, especially if it applies perks like the ones you mentioned.

  • Perks are good but lets be honest, they're all better versions of pre-existing perks. The Survivor looks stylish, can't wait to see her in the cosmetics like the blue dress they teased. Killer looks... unique, but there's other kinds of horror so I'm reserving judgement. I love the little things they put with him such as the wink in the lobby, smoothing out his hair when stunned, laughing and speaking Korean throughout the match, especially his reload animation. Power initially seems kinds weak, but no one can really say for sure until there's a bunch of experience and playtime as and against him.

  • Map reworks are important, but I hope once they're finished some of our past Chapters get new maps. I understand Blight not having once because he became a Killer in the Entity's Realm but I do want to see Twins and Trickster maps- city-like maps, where the Twins have a 17th century France with both cramped buildings and a sewer system (as per their backstory) and a preforming arena with a lighted city in the background for the Trickster.

  • @TauNkosi said:

His name has NOTHING to do with his power or who he is. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the new killer and how he plays but his name just doesn't fit him. The Trickster sounds super promising until you realize he just throws knives really fast. The Idol is a far more suitable name given who he is and his backstory. It just fits.

Trickster was his stage name after his band died, but I see your point- It'd make more sense if he was more tricky, but his backstory and ingame interactions are all about vanity, ego, and being an attention [BAD WORD]. The Idol fits much better.

  • New Killer means Survivors go full try hard to see how hard it is to play against the Killer. It'll die down once people get used to his playstyle.

  • That Survivor's backstory ends really darkly, like The Spirit or Hag. If I didn't know I'd say based on those last statements Yun-Jin was the Killer.

Chances are you will hook everybody once. Thats 40 seconds of no opening doors.

If you tunnel one person to death. Thats 10 seconds of no opening doors.

There is no reason not to run this perk.

Is it worth running a perk slot every game for at most 40 seconds of delaying Survivors? Most people would say no, especially if they end the game BEFORE all the gens get completed.

  • How did you see it before it got released? Don't want to know just curious where you got the info from so I can avoid it

  • Basically in ~40min from now. So excited!

  • Avoid indoor maps like the 'Rona (was gona say plague but shes not that dangerous :p) and use Plaid Flannel to get used to her blinks. I just got myself off of it after using it for my first ~200 Nurse games and while I can still land some blinks, its rough going. As soon as I get all her achievements I'm not touching her again XD

  • I think she used to be 110% back in the day but rn she's 115%

  • Don't you dare get my hopes up for this again, I was so disappointed when we got the Twins instead of a wendigo. Admittedly Twins were a cool concept but they ended up a ######### killer so last chapter was ruined for me :/

*Awkwardly Looks over at the fursuit legion skins, elephant clown, hospital gown meyers*

Yep no killer has ever looked a bit silly or sexy

Lets not forget default outfits, with Spirit showing off her booty in the menu and Plague showing side boob in the lobby.

    It's obvious,

Music stops and rewinds at 03:19, could this mean something about March 19th? Someone in the Twitter comments pointed it out. Possibly the live release, and the PTB is today (or I'm being waaaaay too optimistic lol)?

Someone did a logarithmic frequency scale of this and the result is pretty interesting:

What is this supposed to be? Just creepy words or something possibly related to the chapter?

  • Hair texture is vastly different from the top of her head to the bottom, looks like Photoshop to me

Twitter and youtube don't work on my computer. Could someone please describe the teasers to me?

First is from DBD, its a visual of a playback app with a banger theme. My guess is thats the menu music for the chapter.

Second and third are from PaulieEsther (a GIF of a glitched face, maybe the Survivor, with some kind of reflection in the eye) and The King (a butterfly insignia with the same color scheme as the hidden PFP DBD has).

    Another two teasers:

    This from King

This is actually getting really exciting rn

That's pretty cool, just having the DBD team let Fog Whisperers leak somethings, they should do that more often.

  • No I only camp him as Huntress because I have to keep him away from those thirsty Survivor thots Kate and Meg. It'd be racist if I camped him, Claud, Adam, and Zarina.

  • If its the K-Pop thing then The Idol

If its the cyber/hacker thing then the Virus

The color scheme of that outfit kind of reminds me of those outfits in this video:

    https://youtu.be/3VTkBuxU4yk

Seraphine is the Survivor and Evelynn is the Killer confirmed.

  • For me its not necessarily a Killer thats fun but a build I can run on a Killer. One of my favorites is Crackhead Wraith- Fire Up, Bamboozle, Iron Maiden, and Brutal Strength with Shadow Dance- Blood and Shadow Dance- White.

  • I don't think this is related but the outfit kinda reminds me of a VTuber called Uruha Rushia, similar color scheme and certain parts of the outfit. Probably not part of the leak, seeing how Rushia is Japanese, but I thought it was interesting.

They already confirmed that the next chapter is original.

To anyone who thinks a certain streamer gives you logical counterplay against the Spirit actually works, I just had a match against a Stridor Spirit. The crouching tech that muffles your sounds, the baiting of window vaults, and dropping pallet mind games did not do jack of anything. Because how am I supposed to be able to do all this kind of stuff against a Spirit who runs Stridor, who basically knows where I am because she can hear me and I can't make out where she is? If you run Iron Will against a Spirit who doesn't use Stridor and know how to use it properly, that one perk instantly destroys what her entire power is. All I'm asking for is the survivor and Spirit both need logical counterplay of some sort to be able to get the one up on each other, and perks such as Iron Will and Stridor should not be able to do that for them. I don't think Spirit needs a nerf of any sort, but I think a rework that keeps her at least a strong killer as well as having actual counterplay on both sides is what people want. I can't make out what sort of rework I would do to Spirit since I don't main her, but people that have big brains can probably give loads of ideas.

I'm by no means a great Spirit, but Iron Will is really an inconvenience rather than a huge counter. You can still hear rustling grass and footsteps if you're paying attention.

    That's fair enough, yeah.

I am still worried about the Killer though. Normally, they focus so heavily on the Killer since, you know, they bring the most new content. A new power, new perks, whereas survivor only brings perks, and a new screaming voice.

If they're not showing the killer, I'm thinking that; A, the killer isn't noteworthy and they'd rather focus on the Survivor for once, or B, and this is a real big maybe, this survivor brings something new to the gameplay of all survivors. Maybe a new item, or something new to interact with.

Or, and this is the most likely, I'm just being incredibly impatient and need to slow my brain down.

Well they did go on a stint of focusing on Survivors (especially for Yui and Zarina) trying to give them equal focus as the Killer. Would not be surprised if they're doing it again if this Survivor is as diverse or outstanding as they are.

  • @NomiNomad said:

Well, this survivor will certainly be interesting. I don't know a damn thing about K-pop, but I imagine this inclusion will make a lot of people happy. What kind of killer would match well against a Survivor like this though?

They're really hyping up the survivor, which they've never done before. That kinda has me worried about the quality of the killer.

Unless that is the killer, then...

    Terrifying?

Survivor doesn't need to exactly match up, after all on the surface a talk show host isn't really related to an ancient priestess, nor is a journalist like a cowboy.

If it is a K-Pop idol then the Killer could be something that is similar to it in someway, if we're talking charisma maybe a cult leader? If its high tech could be a hacker or cyber style like their glitch effect on the logo yesterday

Uh botany does do both? Did they change it in the PTB?

Yeah you're right :p I haven't used it in forever lol

  • @Yords said:

At 2:59 it is important to note that you can actually fast vault that in these jungle gyms. You have to do what you probably did there unintentionally which is touch the wall and then vault the window when you run at the window and get as close as possible without stopping. Very simple and easy once you do it a few times.

Be more aware of where the killer is at all times, it seemed that you were unaware during the middle of the match where he was even though you could see him through the windows.

Learn window and pallet locations, that way you won't need to run windows of opportunity. It is really easy actually.

I suggest not running botany knowledge unless you are going to be heal oriented during a match. The medkit you brought would have healed you 3 times if you didn't miss a skill check on its own. With botany, you probably would have gotten maybe a 4th heal if you hit a great skill ckec, but still, I wouldn't suggest you run that.

I know you are on console, but if you can I would suggest looping around objects more smoothly.

In the end, it seemed like you were moving a bit too slow and hiding behind objects when you didn't really need to. In fact, it would have been better out in the open to save just a little bit of time. You want to hide when you really need to, for example, if you are on death hook and injured.

That is pretty much it as far as I could tell.

Nah, Botany Knowledge increases healing speed, not efficiency. 3 heals, maybe 4 if he got lots of great skill checks.

I agree with the comment on Windows, its a beginners perk that an experienced Survivor doesn't really need once they learn how jungle gyms and pallets spawn. Its better to run Desperate Measures, since it doesn't just do healing but affects all altruistic actions (healing, unhooking, etc.).

Spine Chill came in clutch against a Mikey, but once you're more aware it'll become less and less needed.

  • My one tip- at 2:48 you decided to loop around the wall instead of vaulting the window. I'm pretty sure you had time to do a fast vault, which would have been safer. Might be tricky to do with console (IDK, I'm a PC player) but it would've gotten you to the pallet in time. Other than that, pretty good gameplay! This is what I would expect from a Purple-Red rank Survivor in solo queue.

  • I don't play as much Survivor, due to the huge queue times. That being said, probably Huntress or Spirit.

  • Vigil- Great idea, horrible implementation. I think it would work better if it let Exhaustion go down at a much slower rate (EX: 20% of normal, so 10s left means 50s while running to go away).

  • Almost any Killer on Haddonfield, Nurse on Lery's.

Playing as a Survivor on these servers in general is rough, because I often get paired with people several ranks lower than me who die and feed quickly ruining my games.

  • That whole corner of the map had 4 incredibly strong pallets, only counteracted by a vulnerable bathroom gen and the basement always being next to it. I'm glad they changed the top, hope the bottom got the same treatment.

  • As a Survivor, I needed Spine Chill until I got more aware of my surroundings. Now only a few stealth Killers on indoor maps can spook me. I've also been moving away from Exhaustion perks- w/o them, I'm forced to learn how to loop better and its way less forgiving if I make a mistake.

Killer, I never really liked Ruin+Undying so I stopped using Ruin because of it. In the beginning I always brought Surveillance so I could learn how and when Survivors got back on gens, and before Undying I loved using Ruin+Surveillance all the time.

The only perks I still use all the time are DS, Corrupt Intervention, and BBQ (though this is just for BP, I don't get huge value out of the aura reading tbh).

  • Wouldn't it work better wit Nemesis? IMO Furtive Chase only beats Nemesis in niche scenarios like using it with MYC.

  • Power is very interesting, I'd love to see something like this ingame.

  • Getting Evil Incarnate on my first attempt

    4 man Devour Hope Moris

Blinking from the basement under the Thompson House and grabbing a Survivor off of the 2nd story gen

Using Blood Warden in the last quarter of the EGC, blocking the gates for a very annoying SWF and having them all die to the Entity

Killing all 4 Survivors with RBTs (happened once, and oh my god I 'lost')

  • @ArchFox said:

I've never really cared about ranks etc before, but recently I hit rank 5 and felt pretty good about it. Felt like I could hit red ranks even. It didn't last long; every game after that was a disaster. Everything from technical issues, internet crapping out on me, EAC giving me an error that forced me out of the game, to tunnellers and facecampers, even a couple hackers.

Long story short, I'm rank 7 now. The feeling of "######### yeah, I can even get to rank 1!" is long gone. I just want to enjoy the game without worrying about this ######### ranking system. I guess venting like this helps.

    Any thoughts?

The tech and internet issues you need to fix with your wifi or provider. EAC, I'd verify game files on Steam or your platform before going in again. As for the toxic players, it really comes down to learning to push past them and work on your own. If you suspect a facecamper focus gens hard, or play a really immersed stealthy build. Tunnellers, it comes to learning how to loop efficiently and hoping your teammates can push out gens quickly enough to get the Killer's attention.

Even with all that, I still recommend staying at lower ranks. I'm Rank 1 both sides and it is miserable. Achievements are hard to get, almost all other red ranks are sweaty tryhards, the meta perks, items, and Killers are in all my games- generally its repetitive and unfun. After you get the Rank 1 achievements, stay at low ranks. Practice really hard achievements, run really meme-y or niche builds, play Killers that don't preform well- lower ranks are fun.

  • Pig, but then I got good with Doc, Hag, Spirit... essentially Killers that performed better :/ I still play Pig from time to time though

  • Deathslinger should be higher into B tier. Hex: Retribution is pretty good for finding Survivors after totems break. DMS is alright but really shines when paired with Nemesis or Furtive Chase (yes I know its not as good on its own, but if we were judging on that then Blight should be lower). Gearhead isn't great, but it is useful for finding Survivors, and it has some synergy with DMS, PGTW, Ruin, and other gen regression/protection perks. Not bad and for the most part easy to activate perks.

  • @lagosta said:

You're devoting too much attention to totems. Your objective is to kill survivors, totems are not required for them to escape. By crossing the map to disturb someone cleansing a totem you're not chasing or shooing people off of gens and getting no ruin value.

Ruin+Undying is powerful right now bc they buy too time in matches for killers in average. It's expected that they will be cleansed, you just need to make the most of it or else you'll end up with your hex totems up and the doors open.

His build is primarily for totem defense, and it does that very well. Paired with a high mobility Killer (Spirit, Billy) or someone thats great at totem defense (Hag, Freddy) its easy enough to do both. Also certain totems will scare Survivors into not doing gens or make them rush totems, put on Devour Hope instead and it'll be chaos.

  • Nurses and Doctors are just fed up with all the anti-vaxxers and people who 'know' more about their health than they do. And if you really want to get into it..

Clown was an intern for a dentist when he was a kid, that could be considered healthcare albeit for a short while.

High priestesses like Plague would have been the healers of the ancient world, which is why people came to her for healing from the actual plague.

Blight was a chemist and studied at a school of medicine, he could've easily become a doctor.

Bubba knows the human body the way a butcher knows pig or cow carcasses- I'm sure he knows which parts go where (lol)

Rin might have been a pre-med in college? (I'm just screwing around now XD)

You see ... I'll tell you a recent anecdote of a game I had as Freddy in the blood hut in autohaven. I was in the middle of the game as Freddy Krueger, 5 generators were still left and many second phases of sacrifices, I had left Meg agonizing, Everyone was present when I left her in that state, I picked up Meg but suddenly Cheryl appeared with a flashlight and left me blind for a few seconds, Meg let go and I was stunned, but having recovered from blindness, Meg She was behind me to throw me a pallet, I turned around and threw it, but the funny thing was that that pallet was one of my fake pallets and I left her dying XD. Have you ever laughed in a game?

Me and Jane were the last Survivors in a game, and even though we solo queued we were vibing and playing well. I was getting chased around the Killer Shack and was about to hop into a locker to force DS (toxic I know, but until the devs fix this broken mechanic imma use it). Unfortunately, Jane got in when I wasn't looking so she could use Head On and stun GF letting us both get away. In the end he downed us both lol

What do you think of teams of throw the game to "harass" you. I'm saying harass because lack of better words. This team might thirst flashlight saves and tbag to get you to chase them. Is this a fun game?, a boring game, do you dislike or like versing these. I genuinely want to see what people think.

Just ignore them, or if you can bring something to shut down their gameplay. Full flashlight squad? Run Lightborn. They want to all get chased? Just eat pallets until they have nowhere to run. Don't let them do what they want and theyll go nuts. I do it all the time with Object players, they throw the game cause they want to get chased so bad lol.
