  • Distressing - Rather use Monitor. Legion already gets loads of bp, and Monitor will give you the range increase without making your TR huge outside of chase.

Stridor - Not terrible. Would rather use Thanatophobia or Blood Echo to encourage healing.

I'm all ears - Underrated perk

Ruin - Always great but relying on Ruin solely for slowdown is very risky. Would replace 1 of the perks with Surge as a Plan B

  • Yes and no.

Legion is one of the killers whose camera moves during their weapon wipe animation. It's movement but not really a nod.

However, many Legion players (myself included) move the camera upwards to avoid losing vision during the weapon wipe and quickly moving it back down, giving the appearance that the Legion was nodding.

  • While the extra information will be nice, Legion's already one of the best trackers in the game. This will make him better at collecting information but won't help him where he needs it.

    Legion's flaws are the following.

    1. Poor 1v1 ability. He's a short 115% killer with the survivor injured and that's it. He has little else.

    2. Low mobility.

    3. Frenzy is very punishing with a brutal fatigue destroying any creative use mid-chase.

    4. Frenzy isn't very fast. 130% is meaningless if survivors hold W and are 12+m away. Easy fix is to have it be 150% and raise the 12m requirement to 20m, ensuring he can chain hits if survivors are remotely close together.

    5. His add-ons range from decent to downright bafflingly bad. Frank's Mixtape and Stab Wounds are the most notorious examples.

And pet peeve? Legion *stabs* people with a single knife. Removing a knife is more in line with what you'd do against a Trickster, who actually throws knives.

  • People hate Slinger because his instant ADS which means he zones you by existing. Him having to reload at lockers doesn't change that at all.

Better change is to increase his ADS to maybe 0.75 secs, while maybe increasing his ADS movement speed or reload speed to compensate. Anything else is unnecessary.

  • I concur with the belief that Spirit is not too easy. Perhaps not the most complex killer, but definitely not easy.

I believe this expectation was set largely because of killers like Nurse. Nurse straight-up does not play DBD anymore, but she's often forgiven by the community because of how brutal she is to control. This had led to the large belief that a killer that is easy should be weak, and a killer that is strong must be difficult. Spirit isn't easy, but compared to the likes of Huntress or Blight who have massive learning curves, Spirit's comes off as rather insignificant.

A more obvious deviation from this rule that is reviled by the community would be Freddy. He is a very simplistic killer but also very hated for how effective he is despite the simplicity. Even Bubba with a relatively straightforward power has more depth than him, so everyone hates him.

My personal issue with Spirit is the lack of transparency she has at all times. Without scratch marks, she can receive hints as to the survivors' location by hearing their breathing/grunts, footsteps, grass moving, etc. Meanwhile, she gives nothing. The only change I'd make to her is to allow survivors to hear her breathing periodically (similar to the bug we had some patches back), let her make footsteps and move grass—give subtle hints that allow the survivor to make informed decisions rather than being at the Spirit's mercy.

  • Rather nerf Frank's Mixtape. I mean, Pig has to down you normally, at least.

Legion with this add-on? He can get a guaranteed down, just like Old Legion. It's a miracle most don't run this add-on because how busted it is

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

It’s astonishing to me that the Twins are about to get an extended cooldown after Victor achieves a successful down to minimise what is seen as an unfair snowball potential, yet Infectious Fright Nurse players are free to wreck teams at 5 gens, that have solo players lacking the information they require to attempt being well and truly out of her TR at all times before another survivor is put into the dying state.

Please make her fatigue longer after she has achieved a successful down!

It is a thing. Her fatigue is 3.5 secs after attacking.

  • I mean... technically, they are with the bt change.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

This guy feels weaker than trickster because I can hit all 4 survivors with feral frenzy, then what?

None of them are down and mending is a joke. Maybe if mending actually downed someone he might be good

and the only time my mending has ever downed someone it was a trap to bait me over there just for them to get instant healed by the time I get there

Legion is a pretty basic killer.

Frenzy means you'll injure everyone and have to down them with your own skill and short stature.

Killer Instinct gives you decent map awareness, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a specific survivor that's dead on hook or something.

Deep Wound is meant to stall, not kill. Never expect anyone to bleed out. It does make Ruin HURT though. You're a slowdown killer with great tracking with Killer Instinct; don't be afraid to Frenzy stab an injured survivor so you can find someone more vulnerable and rest assured they can't immediately go do gens.

Do NOT use Frenzy for mobility. Fatigue means you lose distance.

Don't be afraid to cancel your power early. Remember, just because you can SEE a person on Killer Instinct doesn't mean you can reach them. In fact, you often can't.

It pains me to say this, but Legion is a very good camper. Seriously, your ability to injure the entire team makes unhooks risky, if someone tries, they'll eat a Frenzy, alerting you of who is near. If someone unhooks during that, congrats, you're distracting 3 people, probably forcing at least 2 to mend while chasing the 3rd. You'll probably pick up the 4th on Killer Instinct who you can go for, chase him. Congrats, you've just distracted the entire team. Granted, only 12 secs if they mend, but that little bit adds up.

Legion has nice synergy with some rarely used perks like Thana or (one of my favorites) Blood Echo.

Don't run perks like Nurse's Calling on Legion. Against bad teams, you won't need it. Against good teams, it won't help you. You want survivors to heal, and if you use the mangled add-on, make sure you're comfortable with the possiblity of them not healing.

Why do people complain about noed but not devour hope? Survivors decided not to clean bones and the killer earned his instant down. If I win with devour it's good game if its noed it's that perk is so cheap🤣

    Conditions

Devour can be cleansed at the start and do nothing. It also requires the killer to have downed and hooked people.

NOED's only condition is that 1 of the 5 totems on the map aren't cleansed and that the gates get powered.

Killers are expected to do everything it takes to PREVENT the game from progressing far enough, making NOED feel as if you're rewarded for failure.

Killers argue survivors should be doing totems anyway, but given the lack of a base totem counter and that finding ALL of the 5 totems is no easy feat, it's just unfeasible.

    Yes they were.

Not being able to put anyone in dream world just makes you a standard M1 killer; and unable to apply your power in that window at all is a real hinderance.

Swing chains was arguably his best addon after maybe paintbrush. You seem to misunderstand, swing chains applies to EVERYONE, so 8% x 4 and in unison with perks already slowing them down, or regressing gens with ruin, etc....and it slows down across healing and other things as well, more than JUST generators. That absolutely made a difference.

Both these changes also affect each other, you'll have less people, being subject to addons that you've now nerfed, and then being forced to chase someone without your power.....

    Okay, I'll apply this.

With jump rope, you have a static 4%. With Swing Chains, 2% per person with 8% being the max . Let's assume everyone is asleep at all times although in my person experience, there's 1 or 2 awake at some point.

Gens go from 80 to 90.

Heals go from 16 to 18.

Those are the 2 major things that are slowed down.

Now, with Thana, it does become a sizable 113 secs on gens. Pretty severe, ngl. Problem? That relies on everyone being injured AND asleep.

Let's assume 2 survivors are injured and everyone is asleep. That's about 100, which is the same as normal Thana at 4 stacks. Not bad, but not "omg, this is so strong! We're all gonna die!"

For healing, let's assume there's Sloppy Butcher. Sloppy on its own is 20 secs. With the addons, it becomes a gruesome... 22 seconds.

Now, the add-ons aren't "bad" and can give a noticeable debuff. But even at full power, the debuff is just decent. Most of it is just the perks.

Oh, and Dying Light, but that hardly does a thing until you're already winning and gives a free Botany Knowledge to counter Sloppy to the Obsession. Pretty self-defeating.

Not being able to put them in dream world via hit is a BIG issue and will change a lot. Freddy being a basic ######### m1 killer in chase will hurt a lot. When hit power is literally supposed to be able to put you in dream world and eventually end a chase with snares

The grace period is 30 secs, it's not complete immunity. That's not really going to change anything unless you decide to wake up next to Freddy for whatever reason.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

His slowdown addons not that strong, what? They were still strong as hell even after being nerfed.

The clock change is a big impact as well. It literally disables his power entirely against you basically, at least the chase part of it.

    No, they weren't.

Jump Rope was 4%. That's barely 4 seconds (rounded up) on a gen. Swing chains was 8%, coming in at around 7 secs. Stack them and you get about 10 seconds due to how weird the charge system is.

They barely have an impact unless you stack with things like Thana or Dying Light. Even then, it's a win-more build rather than an effective build.

As for the clocks, it's pretty much the same as before except now there's a grace period where a hit also won't put you to sleep. Won't really change much.

  • @wisdomwielder said:

There are some good things about the upcoming PTB but there are also some blatantly tone deaf and straight up bad changes. Some of the most obvious ones are some basekit and add-on changes to Huntress and Demogorgon. This was not what the community was asking for. Everyone wanted iridescent hatchets to only work at long range to reward skill. Everyone agreed on that. With the proposed change, its still an annoying as ######### add-on except now for both sides because the Huntress has to reload all the damn time. You could have made it tastefully skillful and fun, but just chose a lazy restriction like all of the other iri add-ons. You also did not change her outdated exhaustion add-ons AT ALL. EXCUSE ME. 90 SECONDS OF EXHAUSTION? HELLOOOO???

Demogorgon. Some of the portal changes seem nice but that's not what people were asking for or expecting. Literally everybody wants rat liver base kit so they don't get looped around rocks because they're slower than the survivor while using his power. Also, ######### IS THAT ROTTEN PUMPKIN ADDON. THAT LOOKS SO BAD, WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS. Why the hell would you purposefully sabotage your mobility like that? You ALSO took away it's +1 portal effect?! WHAT. Maybe you want to give bad Demos the ability to fix their portal placement? This wastes so much time! Learn how to place portals!! Why not just grab the extra portal add-on instead??? Also, only TWO addon changes, out of how many are abhorrently useless ones? Literally, the best add-ons are brown. Rat tail, and Rat liver. Next would have to be other time saving travel add-ons like the lungs and guts, but hopefully those won't be needed as much now. The 3rd best ones were lunge cool down and extra portals (THAT YOUR TAKING AWAY). Because they saved time and helped you chase more efficiently. The other portal add-ons were useless.

I don't know what to think about Freddy and his add-ons yet, since it's a lot of changes all at one time, but most of those new add-ons seem pretty garbage.

All in all, some disappointing changes here. I mistakenly thought the devs knew what people were asking for and would make the proper changes. My bad.

Also, BT no counterplay, let's go 😀

    1. Incorrect. They said a complete add-on pass and just shared 2 examples. Her Exhaustion hatchets are gone. Trust me.

    2. The pumpkin is a meme bp add-on. Idk why they keep making those but whatever.

    3. Bt is fine. Just go for the unhooker. If it's not bt, it's a deserved DS that'll get you.

  • Nerf - Freddy. He's so simple and brain dead that it's absurd. He's not even terribly strong (while certainly still respectable), he's just unfair and boring to go against.

Buff - Legion. I'm not going to pretend his nerfs weren't necessary, but given their power's status as non-lethal, there are punished far too much. Let's not even talk about the add-ons...

Buff - Trapper... just make 2 trap capacity base. That's it. A simple numerical change would be the greatest buff ever

  • Or... just make DS like Nemesis and not create an Obsession until used. Achieves the same thing while not jeopardizing the being an Obsession giving information to both sides.

  • @Lambch0p said:

They are both high mobility killers and can end chases fast, which are the two things I’m most concerned about when picking my new main. I just hit rank 1 for the first time with M1 killers and I want to eventually main one of these two once I have enough blood points to get a build on one of them. If you were in my position and didn’t have much experience with either of them yet which one would you choose to play extensively/main and why?

This is a lot harder than you think.

They're both surprisingly similar in power, get neutered by cramped maps like Lery's, are very difficult to learn, and have pretty buggy powers.

There's no easy way to suggest. I'd recommend Blight, simply because he's easier to pick up. If you're bad at Nurse, you're worthless. If you're bad at Blight, you're still a 115% killer who can play the game normally.

Of course, Blight is a somewhat map dependent killer. You're going to need to memorize the hitboxes and collision zones of every map at every angle, not dissimilar to Huntress.

Nurse isn't terribly map dependent, although there are a few that any Nurse player could write long rants about.

Add-on are.... okay, yeah, this goes to Blight. His add-ons are absurdly good. Nurse's range from useless to decent because they turn her into Old (base) Nurse.

Really, you just need to feel them both out and see which you like best. They're too similar in too many ways while dissimilar in a few notable ways.

  • Actually, I think she does get the speed burst. What happens is she's not doing the proper animation and is giving the illusion of being slowed down.

  • What's happening is the other player is likely holding shift (or the console equivalent) and moving, which interrupts the heal to prevent sandbagging. It's likely accidental, but not a bug.

  • Forgettable, unfortunately.

Blight and Wraith changes are awesome. Pretty much makes them both playable now.

Yun-Jin is pretty neat and her perks range from decent to pretty good.

Trickster himself feels like the embodiment of style over substance atm. I like literally everything about him except playing him because he's just so weak. Maybe he'll get better? Who knows.

Trickster's perks are... eh, okay. Starstruck is pretty damn powerful on certain killers, but otherwise, nothing that amazing.

Overall, the chapter was flashy and aesthetically pleasing, but it'll be remembered as the patch that fixed Blight and Wraith, and nothing more in its current state.

  • I've found the best results happen if during the selection screen, you pick the Huntress option.

Now, if that's too hard, it's okay. A reasonable alternative is to instead pick Deathslinger.

But if you're a mad lad and want to pick the option no one sees coming, you can instead pick Plague.

  • Basement is in a weird spot since the advent of respawning hooks.

Currently, it has the potential to be a killer's ace in the hole. If you have basement in a good spot, then you have a hook easy to defend while still protecting your gens.

Moat of the time, it's not worth it. You'll just waste time dragging someone there more than anything.

I don't think it's worth removing. It's use is circumstantial but the devs have stated repeatedly that they do *not* want to remove camping as an option and you can get someone out of basement with BT/DS (unless it's a Bubba, obviously).

  • Bubba's perfectly fine. He's a massive noob stomper and chews through bad teams (and is VERY punishing for mistakes) but he's in a great spot atm.

  • @sad_killer_main said:

Or do I need an absurd amount of practice in order to make him work, similar to nurse.

He's one of (if not the) hardest killer in the game to master. You need to practice a lot and learn the maps/collision spots like the back of your hand.

  • For one, Dedicated Servers complicated things for both sides. Ghosty has trouble leaning and stalking, and survivors have trouble revealing.

Second, there's a "reveal zone" that's based on your camera. The problem? Most of the reveal zone is at the center of your screen... where your survivor model/hitbox is. And yes, your survivor hitbox can/will cover Ghosty and prevent you from revealing him.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

It gutted him? that seems like an exaggeration. After playing against good oni's they seem pretty viable and strong.

No, no. I don't mean Current Oni. Current Oni is a result of a compromise allowing 90 degree flicks.

  • @bjorksnas said:

This post is just asking people who actually play blight why they think j-flicks should be removed instead of endorsed as a feature

Feel free to leave your opinion about the other side of why it should be actually endorsed as a feature as well

Arguments that have obvious counter arguments with proof behind them

It has no counerplay, yes it has really easy counterplay and can be dodged really easily if predicted

Its an exploit because it was unintended, thats not a reason to not endorse it as a feature as bugs becoming features has been seen before

You need a dpi switch, No you don't people flick on every single dpi under the sun

Turning corners is meant to be part of the counterplay to Blight. J-Flicks remove that.

Blight was given a turn restriction for a reason. J-Flicks are just the result of bypassing that built in restriction. I do not consider that fair.

Can you counter it? Sure. If it became a feature, I'm sure people could adjust. I don't see that happening, the devs don't like it, so I think it should go.

  • You get used to it. Adjusting to the height is like learning Blight all over again. It'll take some practice but you'll be able to move past it eventually.

  • DS exists as a defense if the killer tries to tunnel you off hook.

If you are doing something to progress the game, you are doing the objective. Therefore, you are not being tunneled. Therefore, you are fair game.

If the killer tries to tunnel you off hook, hop in a locker or something. Slug you? Unbreakable still exists and now won't have the stigma attached to it now that DS has been nerfed.

  • @Adjatha said:

Trickster DOES have a unique advantage that no other killer has: When lacerate builds to max and inflicts a damage state, the survivor does not get a speed burst, like they do whenever they take damage from anything else (other than stepping in a beartrap for obvious reasons).

In THEORY, this lets him stay on you longer, which I assume was the justification for the slower move speed and the very high number of hits needed to inflict a damage state, and possibly even for the laceration decay. The problem is that he has ALL of those negative debuffs, on top of low accuracy, high recoil, move slowdown, and limited ammo.

It's a case of coming up with an idea ("what if he could hurt you without letting you sprint to safety?") and then pouring layers of conditions and hinderances on top of one another to justify the small boost. It should really come as no surprise, this is also how killer perks are designed these days. Compare old perks (50% less stun duration) to newer ones (After hitting a survivor TWICE with BASIC attacks, for 30 seconds, any time a survivor makes a GOOD but not GREAT skill check on a generator, it will light up in yellow, but only until they stop holding M1)

Incorrect. Survivors DO get a speed boost.

  • Billy was.... it's pretty sad to talk about what happened to Billy.

He's still pretty good. A solid B or A tier killer imho. But the things they did while reworking him are so questionable that it makes my head spin.

Let's address the elephant in the room: overheat. Now, it's not that bad. Not really. Unless you're a new Billy who is experimenting with the saw and curves, you'll be fine. it does stop people from wanting to play him though, because... well, why do all that when Bubba's an option? the only time Overheat really becomes an issue is when you're using Engravings.

But that's the real nerf. the add-ons. It's not just that his add-ons are weaker; his replacement add-ons are just... bad. They're really, really, REALLY bad.

Double Engravings is a thing of the past thanks to overheat, he has no more cooldown add-ons, his charge add-ons are mostly gone (minus 1 meme add-on and one that's too circumstantial to be relied on), 4 are dedicated to managing the overheat (2 of which are so useless it's laughable), and... they're just bad.

I don't understand the point of implementing a system that would limit the use of the saw, but also removed the charge add-ons. Wouldn't it be better to have them affect the overheat, preventing the use of insta-saw just like how it limits double engravings? I don't know.

So we have a decent killer with terrible add-ons that is now even harder to learn due to having his power limited when it also encourages experimentation. Pretty paradoxical.

But this would still be fine... if there weren't much better alternatives. You want an insta-down all the time? Play Bubba. Want to snowball? Play Oni. Want insane mobility? Play Blight. All his niches are filled by other killers who are similar (or superior) in power, have good add-ons, and are generally more pleasant to play thanks to not being punished just for using your power.

  • A pallet break takes 2.7 secs.

    Brutal makes that 2.16.

If you're curious, Brutal + Fire Up turns it to 1.35.

  • Or... just have DS be like Nemesis and not create an Obsession until it's used.

  • They tried that. His name was Old Legion. Remember how that went?

I'm not talking about you. I'm saying that is what I want to prove about the j-flick by getting a Dev to just come out and say it. It's not an exploit nor cheating and I'm sick of people trying to say it is. Its why I want a Dev to just address it properly so no one can try to make it sound different.

To this I can only mention this. Scorpionz has said that anything new that is considered bannable will be mentioned in the news channel. It's why people were never banned for the Fatigue Cancel despite it technically being an exploit.

So you're not getting banned for it, especially since the flick is more or less common knowledge now. Whether you SHOULD be able to do that is another debate entirely.

Now I won't use any add-ons that make reveal faster. Cause me personally feel like exposing people is cheating even though I'm all ears is an ok perk.

.... green pin? He didn't even have a pin add-on; those belong to Legion. Even if you meant Green Pen, it doesn't make you stalk faster. It just lowers the recovery time.

  • @Blueberry said:

Really hope this extra time is giving him some significant buffs because this is looking like Twins 2.0.

Twins are strong if you don't mind playing very scummy. Trickster... I don't even know scummy playstyles that would be effective.

  • Freddy. I hate Freddy with a passion.

There's literally no winning with this guy! You hold M1 and never see him as he chases your teammate? You're asleep because he existed on the map for a minute. Wanna wake up? Either fail a skillcheck (which is pure RNG) and alert a killer who can teleport where you are, or go across the map to wake up only to fall back asleep again after a minute and a half... if Freddy doesn't find you first, anyhow.

Are you awake? You're immune to his chasing power, great! Too bad you're not immune to his stealth. Sure you get the TR, but can't see ######### he's coming from until he's Myers-level of close. On maps like Bloodlodge, this can be a massive boon since you don't know where the hell to start running. This with passive sleep means you're going to be asleep for most of the match and trying to stay awake will just waste far too much time.

Power through staying asleep? Welp, now you get the dream snares meaning looping will just get you killed. And my LORD, you will learn to appreciate the normal directional TR because his lullaby is absolutely infuriating! Is he getting closer or is he still chasing that meghead? Have you crossed the line of despair and decided to be a blendette? Too bad, you're literally highlighted for him... which you would kinda deserve for that one. BT? What's that?

Freddy can be fun to play in the "turn your brain off and relax" sort of way. But that I find horrendous when I think about it. Freddy plays himself for the most part. Place a snare at a loop without so much as a slowdown, chase one while the others fall asleep, wait for your teleport to be ready, and pop a gen. Rinse and repeat.

There are also Twins, but... do I need to explain that? I think everyone hates them.

To be fair, that bug was pretty bad in all honesty. Every second or so you could hear where the spirit was phasing because of the sound. This made it a lot easier. You can't really say that you just need to git gud when there is something unintended happening to the killer that puts her at a disadvantage. All you had to do was listen for the spirit on a medium to longer loop and she would never be able to catch you, all it took was good hearing.

Couldn't you say giving glimpses would do the same?

If you heard her, cool.... is she doubling back and tricking you? Is she still heading towards you?

You both have to make a read of each other and act on it.

Though, I will concede that perhaps my statement was a bit much.

If its borderline unusable then its not balanced; its broken design just in the other direction.

The reason Iri coin doesn't work is that it's barely within Slingers small 18m range, it's difficult to drag someone to you before the chain breaks, and Slinger's projectile has a tiny hitbox meaning you have to be precise.

These problems aren't existant with Huntress who has infinite range, hits them on the spot, and her hatchets have a larger hitbox. Have you seen the insane long range hatchets Huntress players can land? It's insane.

Ghostface's reveal mechanic is not working since months now. Sometime i look at him in exactly front of him , still he manage to exposed me.. Does the Devs know this issue? and will ever be fixed or not?

There's nothing to "fix" because it does work... there was just 1 little oversight.

The "reveal zone" is mostly at the center of your screen. Reasonable, right? There's just 1 problem: your hitbox that is centered on your camera also covers Ghosty. Meaning where most of the "reveal zone" is, is also completely worthless because it's covered by your own model. Combine that with the 1.5 sec buffer and latency and dedicated servers, and you have a recipe for pain.

  • Here's my personal idea...

    - Spirit now makes directional Breathing sounds (like the breathing bug some patches ago)

    - Spirit now moves grass and makes audible footsteps

Done. She now gives hints to survivors, but deprives enough the survivor has to make a correct read on the Spirit.

She's a killer who relies on audio and environmental hints, so she'd be countered by audio and environmental hints. Sounds fair to me.

Iri coin is so underpowered that no one uses it and could be baseline and it wouldn't effect his overall power.

Remember as @ukenicky said making it distance based would mean it would be useless on maps like "The game" or really any indoor map.

Iri coin is a FAILURE of an add-on which is why the devs haven't even pretend to think it would be a good idea for iri hatchet unlike other change ideas.

The question was if it would be balanced, not if it would be good.

  • I mean, look at Nurse. Without add-ons, her mobility is horrible... but she downs people so quickly that it doesn't even matter.

  • Considering Slinger's Iri add-on has a range limit and it's not that prevalent? Yeah, a range of 20+m would do it for me.
