Why is Ghostface's main source of counterplay so buggy?

It's so bizarre that the Developers designed a killer's whole counter around looking at him for a few seconds and yet have that counterplay just be broken. It's been this way for ages, perhaps even as far back as his release, though I'm not sure about that. I've genuinely lost count of the amount of times that I've had a bloody staring contest with him and somehow not broken him out of stealth. I've even tried keeping my survivor's model to the corner of the screen on a few occasions so he's dominating the screen clear as day and still not broken him out. Meanwhile, I've heard complaints about Ghostface players literally being broken out of stealth when there's no conceivable way that a survivor could've seen them. Why is this such an issue though? Is it just the game's spaghetti code yet again making things difficult or was Ghostface designed in the wrong way, coding wise? Surely, if the Devs dedicate some time to Ghosty they could fix his detection mechanics, right? If so, why haven't they done it already? Maybe he's just too niche of a Killer for it to be worth the effort or something.

  • For one, Dedicated Servers complicated things for both sides. Ghosty has trouble leaning and stalking, and survivors have trouble revealing.

Second, there's a "reveal zone" that's based on your camera. The problem? Most of the reveal zone is at the center of your screen... where your survivor model/hitbox is. And yes, your survivor hitbox can/will cover Ghosty and prevent you from revealing him.

That seems like such a flawed design, lol. Well thanks for your answer.
