I think it was all sandwiched into one line listing all the cosmetics that were going. People kept mentioning that these were going as well when criticising the change; it wasn't something there was no warning for.

And they're gone because they were released at Christmas the year before and basically no other reason.

No they're clearly gone because sleepwear is never used outside of the months of November, December, and very early January.

You really think that "time and money" was not one dude in the span of a single afternoon?

Given BHVR's track record, no, it was more likely 3 people ove the course of 2 weeks

No everyone hated it at one point because of Freddy

He'd bring the iridescent block or blackbox? I don't play Freddy much

An that add-on that's also slows progression on top of thana and sloppy butcher.

I went against this build it was terrible,we didn't get one gen and the Freddy tunneled me but I was only mad that he didn't show me the proper respect you give another killer main

If I play killer mainly my skills as a survivor are relevant so these no real victory

Now babes was that a PGTW complaint or a Freddy complaint?

  • There's also the most important factor: PGTW felt satisfying, Eruption does not. It felt satisfying to hit a nearly done gen with a fat PGTW and delete 25% of its progress in a single kick. Eruption just doesn't give me the same feeling

I don't get the negative comments. He looks like a normal guy. Not all guys are slim and svelt.

Whilst I completely agree with you, I'm hoping the comments come from a place of "He's been shown to be slim before, especially with the pyjama cosmetic, why is this shirt so weird" and not from somewhere darker.

  • Yes. A stable Internet connection is a requirement for playing the game, and every time it cuts out it also impacts the experience of the other 4 players in the match.

So either bite the bullet and accept you're gonna have a long ass penalty, or play something else until the issues fix themselves.

For what it's worth, I'm sorry to hear about it- I know how frustrating it can be when it keeps happening. But there's no real workaround and Support won't do anything, so.

    Thanks for the info.

7 Blink nurse? That should be fun going against😂 I don't know about the knight or what he does I heard about him.

Camping is still the go to playstyle? That's why I hopped on the dusty trail to begin with. I always had fun playing killer but, camping just makes it soo boring sit on the hook for 2 mins. or gens. I guess I'll check out the update in a couple weeks and see if I'll make a return or not.

Tbh I haven't played since January 1st and I really don't want to either. Just got a new Inazuma Eleven game for my 3ds before the eshop goes kaputt (and there's another one on the way too), plus Paladins is getting it's Season 6 reveal Trailer in a week and there's content for Vanguard as well.

Like, my motivation to play DBD has been dropping and dropping and I just can't bring myself to load up the game anymore. I don't think the Midchapter will be changing that, either.

  • If it was a solid 25 seconds of Entity block... Imagining that + Deadlock (with your other 2 regression/blocking perks of choice) just makes me sad.

If they were to nerf Eruption by changing Incapacitated to Blocked, they'd also need to either increase the cooldown or reduce the perk duration imo.

  • It'd be Suffocation Pit, the poor man's Azarov's and Sanctum. Storehouse has an evil main building while Suffocation Pit just has hellish jungle gyms if you get bad spawns

Howdy all, it's been many moons since I log-in theses parts. Most of you don't know me or maybe forgot about me, but

    Hi, I'm Negan.

So I been M.I.A from the forums and the game awhile now probably before some knight killer came out. If I had to guess at lease 4 months. I figured the last time I log-in this is where all the cool kids were at and might help bring me up to speed where the game is at now. How's the PTB for those that are playing it? When does this PTB go live? Just wondering if I should stay and make a return to playing the game or to be hitting the ol' dusty trail and make a return at a later time.

    Also

When did the forums get this new look?😯

New forums look must've been around the start of December because I remember first seeing it whilst in Austria laying on a dude. It's the big update that's been I the works for a whilr (at least a year), and we may finally be getting new avatars again.

The PTB is... Interesting. They accidentally buffed Nurse while giving her base a slap on the wrist (Blink attacks now count as special attacks, and in return 7 blink Nurse is back). Knight got small QOL buffs that'll do nothing for his strength so he'll still be the go to killer for camping and tunneling, somehow beating out Nemesis and Pyramid Head. Quite impressive really.

Solo improvements were nice though, but honestly there's still more to be done. Forums have been massively overreacting to every change made as per usual.

Update should hit in a couple weeks, but it's not the most impressive mid chapter we've had so far and since the Erupting OverBrine meta hasn't even been touched the game is gonna feel as stale as ever.

And the game launched with no SWF.

that change was to give survivors more time to make saves not more time to blast gens (which is what they do). So as a result the killer tunnels and tries to get stage two if the survivors press gens.

They launched without SWF because, to paraphrase, "we don't have the bandwidth to focus on having both Kill Your Friends and Survive With Friends ready for launch, so we'll implement whichever the community wants more" and KYF won

Hawkins has 3rd floor? Isnt the corridor with many rooms is the 2nd floor and the top?

Depends entirely on how you count it. To me, the 2nd floor is the upstairs of the portal room + the landings on the staircases, while the 3rd floor was the upstairs bit featuring the Isolation Room, the covered rat experiement, and the infamous pallet.

Borgo is annoying at times (yeah, the visuals are pure wonk) but at least it doesn't have that hideous main structure with the potential infinite.

I'll take an infinite that I can fool myself onto thinking I could've played better on over a map where the biggest limitation is a biological restriction I'll never be able to overcome without more money than a full time student has available

Quite frequently because sadly a lot of this thread didn't get the memo that being homophobic isn't allowed here.

  • I feel like they should allow you to attempt escape, but if you don't perform all 3 within ~15 seconds it auto kills you (and gives yoh all struggle points) so that it doesn't lead to cases where people just sit on the hook to drag out a game where they've lost.

  • @HugTheHag said:

Swamp has rarely let me down in terms of totem spots. Most of them are in map corners where survivors have no business being.

Swamp always lets me down. There are 3/4 very well hidden totem spawns and my hex totems will always, without failure, spawn in the obvious 1/2 spots right in the middle of the map with 0 cover around them.

Bone Chill went longer because of server shenanigans for some folks.

A part of me hopes that the rumored return of stranger's things returning in December was true and that they delayed it to soften the blow of Bubba being removed, but it's pretty unlikely that'll happen and just a conspiracy theory I have.

Also weird some survivor mains are celebrating this. Sure it means less facecamping bubbas, but now frankin and BBQ will be free perks that will increase in usage.

Oh no people using BBQ, one of the weaker information perks, instead of quad slowdown what an absolutely catastrophic outcome.

  • I stand corrected. I genuinely don't remember a time when it's been on sale, but it was one of the first DLC I ever bought (alongside ANOES and Of Flesh And Mud) so that could entirely be why. Thank you.

"every single licensed perk" is not correct, only the dlc's that were unavailable on other platforms had those unlicensed descriptions

it's the first time that an unlicensed description/name were added for a licensed character in months, they dont write themselves out of nowhere

additonaly, the leatherface dlc is the only dlc that is not affected by the discount

", only the dlc's that were unavailable on other platforms had those unlicensed descriptions"

Explain halloween having alternative names and icons.

"additonaly, the leatherface dlc is the only dlc that is not affected by the discount"

Stranger Things went on discount all the time, and had a 50% off everything sale for ~3 months before it's removal. Leatherface is the cheapest dlc, coming in at 5€, and I don't think I've ever seen it go on discount (and I'm fairly certain that the licence would've been renewed within the previous 5+ years). I don't think that's indicative of anything.

Again, I will eat my words if I'm wrong, but as of right now I don't see any use in panicking and raising the alarm bells. The code is held together by twigs and mud, so it's more likely to just be a bug than it is a confirmation of licence withdrawal.

  • @Veinslay said:

Putting aside whether the perk needs to be nerfed or not, I'm not a fan of the argument that it needs to be nerfed because of the incapacitated status effect. I don't care if not being able to do anything except unhook and run is "boring" or "unfun" for the survivor. Killer gameplay involves getting stunned constantly over and over during a trial. Victor eats a DS every time he gets a down, it takes forever to ADS as Deathslinger, Pyramid Head's power is intentionally made clunky and slow as hell, Blast Mine stun lasts forever, Wraith gets stunned for an eternity getting hit by a pallet when cloaked or getting lightburned, Trickster takes 8,000 years to put his knives away and kick a pallet and the survivor is halfway across the map as a result. Finally, add up all the time the killer has to spend doing nothing while they wait out stupid ass Dead Hard

Contrary to popular belief, one side having a stun problem doesn't mean the other side should have a stun problem too, just that the original problem should be fixed.

What kind of logic even is that?

  • I think Eruption just needs to lose Incapacitated, save that status exclusively for Twins like Doctor and Madness, and give it something else. Something still useful that doesn't lock people out of playing the video game for 25 seconds.

  • Just going to copy over my comment on the other thread

I'd imagine it's there more as a failsafe, such as when ANOES couldn't be released onto Switch or Windows Store for a bit so those players got the perks in the general pool along with an altered icon and name instead of the licenced versions.

If there's something to panic about, then I will gladly eat my words, but this isn't even the first time it's happened. People noticed it for the Halloween chapter a while back too, and as far as I'm aware the relationship between BHVR and Compass is still going strong considering the most recent Halloween licence renewal went off without a hitch.

Both DBD and the new TCSM game are licenced from Vortex, so it's entirely possible they could not want 2 different games including their IP, but until there's any official confirmation I'd suggest not jumping to the worst possible conclusion every time.

Or you could just learn to make a concise argument instead of namedropping a 50,000 word essay and expecting me to read it; that's not only incredibly disingenuous, it's very entitled. If you can't make an elevator pitch for the changes you would like to see, then go around criticizing devs for vague failures that you perceive (without providing any empirical evidence of the existence of these failures), then you have no business discussing the balance of this game.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3309561#Comment_3309561

I mean, all metrics are by definition arbitrary in DBD. What better metric would YOU use to measure out the power level of a killer, if not the literal percentage at which they're able to successfully complete their primary objective?

Or you could just learn to make a concise argument instead of namedropping a 50,000 word essay and expecting me to read it; that's not only incredibly disingenuous, it's very entitled.

If you ask for the changes I would make and then don't read the changes because they're too long for you, then you're the entitled one. I answered your question with an in-depth list, and just because you find reading difficult doesn't mean I'm entitled for expecting the bare minimum in response.

  • @bunnyfengenthusiast said:

If you expect me to read a novel sized list of suggestions and piece it apart, you got the wrong guy. That said, I briefly glossed over it. Some of the changes I saw were incredibly deluded. Sadako moving faster than MDR Spirit after a projection? Sadako getting one stack of condemned per M1 after a manifestation/projection? Combined with faster teleport AND infinite killer instinct? Don't make me laugh.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3309537#Comment_3309537

Iri tape is by no means required for Sadako, although I would like to see the default projection cooldown dropped. Artist has a ton of strong/useful addons. You're not required to use Carrion, but running around without it makes it harder to get snipes, changing your playstyle, or basically what addons are supposed to do.

If you expect me to read a novel sized list of suggestions and piece it apart, you got the wrong guy.

Then don't ask for what I would change, if you're not actually interested in what I would change about those specific characters. Tells me everything I need to know.

The mayority of the vocal community calling killers with 60%+ killrates weak is more of a case that the mayority of the vocal community doesn't know what it's talking about.

I have never seen another game where the avarage skill and knowledge of the players is so low

You're not going to tell me that saddeko is among the top of the killers cause of 1 playstyle that needs specific addons to work well and only really caught traction months after she was released

I do agree the accesibility changes could take some more priority but from a balance view these killers really aren't that pressing

You're not going to tell me that saddeko is among the top of the killers cause of 1 playstyle that needs specific addons to work well and only really caught traction months after she was released

No, but I am going to tell you that Sadako is among the top of the killers for kill rate, an arbitrary metric that has no real use to us as players because both kills do not equal skill and because there's much more to the game than just killing/escaping, and because there is likely a very dedicated group of Sadako players who are very good at regular M1 gameplay, which is essentially what she is- just a regular M1 killer.

Or are Sadako, Pinhead, and Wesker just better killers than Nurse and Blight, with Nurse having been the best killer in DBD by a landslide since her release in August of 2016. Is Plague actually the 2nd best killer in the game (again behind Wesker) and Artist is actually weaker than Freddy and Myers?

Or do just kill rates alone tell us, as players, nothing without any further emperical data to back it up?

The single biggest change I would make for Dredge is map locker availability, where some maps are barren, whereas others have far too many (Midwich). No offense but if you can't play as him, that's not an issue with the game. I have friends that can't play killer because the FPPOV gives them nausea. Should killers get the option of a TPPOV?

Sadako doesn't HAVE to play condemned only. You have the option of using her condemned as a slowdown.

Who ever called Artist dull and boring? Killers calling Artist dull? As opposed to Freddy, Legion, or any other simple killer with no power specific skill ceiling? Artist hS one and a half good addons? Have you ever played her?

"What would you do to change them" *does not respond to the answered question*

I have friends that can't play killer because the FPPOV gives them nausea. Should killers get the option of a TPPOV?

No but basic accessibility options like an FOV slider wouldn't be killing anybody babes. If BHVR want to have an accessibility tab in settings and "pride" themselves on the steps they're taking towards making a more accessible game then they need to actually do the bare minimum.

Not every killer is released underpowered or overpowered. Since everyone is a critic, what changes would you make for those killers? Artist is one of my mains, along with Sadako and Dredge.

So you mean to tell me that Artist, Sadako, and Dredge- all of which are very polarising killers and two of whom (Sadako and Dredge) a large portion of the community have called weak- Sadako more than Dredge- are all actually perfectly balanced killers, and were released in a perfect state?

Despite Sadako's ongoing VFX issues with those with photosensitivity, Dredge being literally impossible for myself and other players to deal with without causing immense headaches (to the point where I had to get prescription-level pain killers by my desk just in case I faced a Dredge, when I haven't needed them in over a deacade prior to that), and Artist being called "boring" and "dull" by Survivor and Killer players alike, they're perfect? Despite Dredge being an Anniversary chapter with a very slim playerbase, Sadako only really having one playstyle that puts everyone involved to sleep, and Artist having approximately one and a half good add-ons, they're all perfect?

    Sure.

What would I do? Read here.

At no point did we say that it is the only survivor sided map, we simply confirmed what others have been saying and outlined the work we've done to address this one. By no means is it the only one. You can make a case for just about any map favouring one side or the other.

As for the Killer changes, The Nurse has easily been the single most discussed Killer lately and warranted changes over any other Killer. The Knight was only recently released and as usual, we make changes to the most recent Killer in the following updates to try and fine tune their balance. They were definitely not chosen at random. Other Killers have changed planned, but there's only so much bandwidth for changes in each update.

Out of pure curiosity, what happened to the post-release changes for Artist, Sadako, and Dredge?

  • @Mew said:

Like they weren't doing that anyway

  • my current build is dead man's, pain res, lethal, and bbq.

    Right there, that's your issue.

DMS + PR is a decent enough combination on almost every killer, because almost every killer will consistently and reliably be hooking survivors. Pyramid Head is not every other killer.

Scourge Hook RNG makes the perk bad enough, but adds in a snazzy little do I take the extra downtime for the SH value or do I go for a regular hook and get back into the game quicker. Pyramid Head's biggest strength is his lack of downtime.

As PH, you should be thinking on if it's worth it to cage someone/Final Judgement them, or hook them regularly. A lot of the time, hooking them causes the most pressure, so the downtime is worth it. But sometimes, you'll want to cage people to help you easily reach a point of no return where the momentum of the match has swung so far in your favour that you've essentially won. Running SH perks has counter synergy to this aspect of his kit, meaning you will almost always be hooking, and almost always be going for a hook that isn't strategically placed to activate your perks, making unecessary downtime longer and ignoring one of the biggest strengths of his kit.

    I'd cut DMS + PR.

I run Deadlock + Call of Brine instead. Deadlock is both a great information perk (knowing which gens have progress, so should be pressured by you with COB in roughly 30 seconds) and slowdown perk, applying a bonus 120 seconds to any match. 2 free minutes is kinda massive.

Call of Brine is just... good. It makes kicking gens worth it and, again, helps give you information. Plus, it isn't Eruption, so you won't be hung alive by any solo queue player.

Moreover, BBQ is outdated, especially on Pyramid Head. Hooking is overrated tbh, and the information it provides isn't that valuable, especially when you consider you have no movement ability so no way to capitalise on the 4 (6, technically) seconds of aura reading BBQ provides. Swap it out for I'm All Ears, which is easily his best perk ever and will help you hit sub-10 second chases.

Lethal can stay. We like Lethal.

Add-on wise, run 2x range add-ons. Don't get reliant on them, but Burning Man Painting + Wax Doll just make me happy.

  • The thing that people seem to firget about the DDS Shack is that it's actually larger, too, meaning that the breakable wall is yet another must-break that has a god window before it's broken and a semi decent one afterwards. Adding that to every map would just give every map a wall that the killer has to kick unless they're Nurse.

idk about that one chief, old Ormond didn't have that mid dead zone (unless we're counting the 1 or 2 useless pallets that spawn) with all the picnic tables. Main building was also stronger because it had better windows and pallets.

The amount of pallets that would spawn too was absolutely ridiculous, even when they updated the map (before realm beyond) which reduced its size it still had an insane number of pallets. There's a clip from ZubatLEL that I can't find atm, but it showcases just how many pallets would spawn in addition to windows since everything would connect very well to the main building or at the very least shack

"idk about that one chief, old Ormond didn't have that mid dead zone"

Unless I'm remembering weirdly from before they nerfed the map and got rid of those random holes in the ground, I've definitely had games where some properly obnoxiously pallets decided to also spawn in the centre, right next to a back to back long wall spawn (and of course both windows faced each other).

Tbh it's thaf one singular memory that makes me say that.

I'm pretty sure they shadow nerfed the number of pallets of Eyrie. Meanwhile, there were always safe fillers on Ormond, with full Los, but high enough to block projectiles. The only real deadzone was near the small cabin.

But the main building was stronger, you could also get all 3 god windows downstairs with the good pallet and the 2 god pallet upstairs.

I am well aware of how Old Ormond was. I'm also well aware of how Eyerie was and is. Hence why I said "depending on RNG".

Yes, no real logical reason to remove it. I mean, aside from those rubberbanding-issues, it can happen from time to time that you get connected to a Server far away. And it is not really fun if you load in and realize that everyone (Killer AND Survivor) have 200 Ping...

They should not have removed it, but I doubt it would have helped with this. Since mainly the London-Server in EU seems to be affected (I connect to Frankfurt and I did not have any rubberbanding at all), it would just result in players not being able to play at all, since they will most likely end up on the same Server again.

I was wondering why some of my games were literally unplayable and others were perfectly fine, but that clears it up. Thanks for pointing that out
