I thought they said in the release it should go back as far September 2020, but perhaps I misunderstood.

im almost certain youre correct - stat tracking begins from september 1st 2020 & it launches june 17th

Pretty sure this bloodweb is from the time of the anniversary event but you now opened a mystery box which generates a random offering like the eye.

    So not a bug.

cant be, the eye hasn't been purchased. brand new web.

  • Well, yes, but relatively it's more of a buff to solos & weaker parties than SWF Team Six and their McDonald's Callouts, which was my point.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

The slowdown adjustments were more than enough of a nerf. Adding the auras on top of that was completely unnecessary and makes it a dead perk, especially against SWF (as usual).

If anything, the aura is more a buff to solo than SWF, surely? When you're talking about the uber-coordinated, clock-callout SWFs they don't need the aura because "Penti totem broken long wall at 5" tells them exactly where it is, while the aura read helps out solos (& worse SWFs) substantially more.

but when IS hotfix 2??? I'd like to actually play this event as survivor and get points too

    probably tomorrow id guess

  • good news, in the ptb preview stream on discord mandy just announced that changes are coming in hotfix 2, before the next chapter (but consequently won't be on PTB, they're going direct to live)

So what happens with Trapper's Coffee grounds now? Does it stack with the basekit haste What about waterlogged shoe hag with rapid brutality?

Coffe Grounds increases the strength of the haste effect, but it's still a haste effect from only one source, so it will work as intended. It'll give you a 15% boost.

Waterlogged Shoe increases your default movement speed, it doesn't give you permanent haste. Therefore, any instance of haste will apply on top of Waterlogged Shoe, but only now the strongest of the effects. So, if you were to run Shoe, NOED, and Rapid, then you'd get a 5% increase to the new base speed caused by Shoe after hitting a survivor, and at all other times be 4% faster, as opposed to current, where you'd be at 9% faster.

    Hope this helps

  • Honestly I don't hear it. Yeah, they both feature strings but… that's it? Houndmaster's far TR music is literally just a creepy strings melody, while Kaneki has a much more frantic string background with a piano melody layered on top of it. Sure, they share the fact that they use strings, but that's sort of unavoidable

  • I could never diss the redbull binge that is the only thing getting me through my degree

  • Loath as I am to say it, the entire Alien chapter is a wasted opportunity. Xeno's power could've been so much more, but just wasn't, we didn't get Sigourney as Ellen, and Nostromo didn't even get a unique realm (but did get a map offering??). It an interesting combination, where some parts of the Chapter (like the main building & shack replacement) feel like they were meticulously crafted over three years, and others feel like they were cobbled together using leftover code and a three-day Red Bull binge

  • I think we should encourage behaviour that fosters a positive gaming environment where everyone can have fun and be friends, actually

  • This is just another UI change for the sake of change; there was no need for this. Nobody asked for this, and if anything the only people this change would affect (the long-time players) would prefer it be in the thousands because then we can see how much we've put into a certain character. I genuinely don't see why they made this change, because the actual items are still capped at 2000.

Revert this, BHVR, and while you're at it please stop messing up the UI for no reason.

  • Okay but consider, I've got 70 Eyes to use on Kaneki alone. I've got 230 of them on Claudette, and only 103 BPS. I need to use these eyes before they sit in my inventory for a year.

BPS are eternal, these Eyes are useable for another 2 weeks, 1 of which I can't play for.

Bloodlust should be handled differently. It also has a different status indicator than Haste.

like i said, should and are are two very different things re: bhvr code haha

Do the new haste stacking rules mean that Clown’s haste addon won’t work anymore?

Clown’s haste addon makes his invigoration speed faster, but that is technically haste stacking with his killer power.

    I don't think that's how it works.

Sticky Soda Bottle says it increases Invigoration by 2%. That doesn't mean it's 10% + 2%, it just makes Invigoration 12%. This will still work just as normal. However, let's say you've got NOED equipped, and then you use a yellow bottle. Previously, this would get you a +14% boost (10% + 4%), however now will probably only give 10% because this is a stacking buff. It comes from 2 different sources, while the Invigoration buff is still just one source.

What I am interested about is Bloodlust. I'm almost certain this will work the same as current, because Bloodlust and Haste are technically two different status ailments, but I'm not sure I trust the spaghetti code to realise this, especially as both have been in the game so long that any changes will probably turn Nea's hair bright pink and allow Nurse to be pallet stunned mid blink.

  • It seems BHVR rehired the marketing team, this is the first teaser we've had since All Things Wicked I believe (DnD, Castlevania, FNAF have all had pre-release announcements but no teasers, and I don't think Tomb Raider, Doomed Course, or Tokyo Ghoul got even that, just an announcement on the day of release) and I am absolutely thrilled. ATW was the best chapter rollout to date and even though I'll miss the old talent (I'm not entirely sure, but I believe they're still gone, especially the person behind ATW) I'm excited to see what the new blood can do, and if teasers are a mainstay again I will be singing from the rooftops.

I've missed these, I really have.

Not using a very helpful and great technology because you don’t like the person behind it is laughable. I bet you own an IPhone, probably Nike shoes. I don’t need to tell you how those products are made. I’m sure you know and use them anyways.

tbh fridge is perhaps the funniest possible person you could say this to.

ai is eroding the critical thinking ability and learning ability of everyone around us. do you know how disheartening it is when everyone around me on my course, in my workplace, etc is using ai for the most basic questions? things that could be solved with a little bit of brainpower and a little bit of the skills the course literally teaches us to develop. it's making people lazy, it's built on the backs of the hard work of others who did not consent to their works being used to "train" the models, and the energy costs outweigh all possible benefits; hell, half the time it'll just make things up or give wrong/irrelevant information. there is nothing that a generative ai model can do that i cannot do better if i give it 3 hours of my time, chug a redbull, and lock in.

Well when I play Kaneki against it, I had a very hard time chasing anyone with MFT at loop. Every time they greed the pallet by not dropping it, it adds another two circles to the loop. If they drop it, even if you vault the pallet, they can still make it around the loop with that speed.

Not to mention the speed boost allows them to reach another loop faster.

So I wouldn't say it's not impactful. If it does, no one will bring it, and MFT won't be nerfed in the first place. Speed boost is just good regardless what killer you're up against.

Btw just from the matches I play, I think I lost more games than I won with Kaneki. Maybe I'm just bad, but I had better success with all other killers than Kaneki at the moment.

Purely for arguments sake, can you tell me one other M1 killer that can just… ignore shack like this?

    ClaudMFT.gif

And yes, I know she got stuck on the blood pump, but she wouldn't have made the pallet or window even if she hadn't, plus I messed up and didn't grapple her, which would've reduced distance even further. And I checked - she was using MFT.

It's not that it isn't impactful - because it definitely can have an impact, in fact she used it to great effect on me later by just running around a rock. But when you can just ignore one of the strongest tiles survivors have like this? Let's not pretend like it's a magic silver bullet counter - it really isn't that strong against him in reality.

    Edit: Fixed the link (hopefully)

Honestly I don't think it's really a 'slight' counter in any chance. Kaneki can't down you with his power, so he has to chase around most loops like M1 Killer… that 3% speed boost is really significant when I face it.

Though I admit he can choose to not hit you with power in first place, but then he won't have 3 charges in the game, which is another big loss. I had a game where I can't use power to hit anyone because everyone's bringing MFT :(

He doesn't have to chase like an M1 killer though - his sliding & ability to cancel while swinging means that your cooldowns really aren't that long, and you can bodyblock people before they reach a loop/pallet. Also, if someone drops a safe pallet, you can just latch onto them, vault over it, and at the worst force a 50/50 and at best just unga-bunga win the chase. MFT really isn't as impactful against him as you - and a lot of other people, apparently - feel.

    In my experience, anyway.

  • FWIW MFT isn't actually that effective vs Kaneki - yes, it does something, but when compared to the effect it has on other killers like Legion or Slinger (or any M1 killer too if they can force Endurance) he's shockingly adept at dealing with it. So I don't mind seeing MFT stacked across the lobby, because that's one perk that isn't one I actively dislike.

  • What's been my strategy? Well, I'm quite the Autodidakt, so it always evolves on the fly, but it does feel like I was Made for This. Apply some Finesse with an Iron Will and a MedKit for emergencies and you'll be going toe-to-toe with the true One Eyed King if not the Dragon in no time.

  • While I don't think it's the most pressing issue, I feel like linking the aura reading to the affected gen & not the killer (and making it slightly larger - maybe 28m? 30m?) would be a welcome change to help reduce it's effectiveness on the best killers and hopefully make it slightly more viable on weaker ones.

  • well as much as i dream of a different life i am sadly still here kicking

They'll probably throw a few things in there & it should run better than it does on switch (not hard admittedly)

I'd think the bigger question is will they charge an upgrade fee like Nintendo is doing with their stuff & as other companies appear to be following suit with.

I don't plan on paying any upgrade on switch 2 though its a very Nintendo thing to do. while I think this game would benefit more than anything they showed upgraded today i'd hope they do the right thing & let people upgrade or experince the benefits for free after the terrible time switch players have had trying to play dbd on it!

in all fairness, the "upgrade" bundle to the switch 2 version at least includes other features, like kirby getting a new story (and zelda getting… an app), and while we can argue if they're worth the fee at least that can be justified.

i'd be very shocked if bhvr charged for what would essentially amount to a slight graphical upgrade to bring it up to par with dbd on ps4/xbox 1. and if all else fails, surely you can just play switch 1 dbd on the switch 2 without upgrading to specifically the switch 2 version, like you could do on ps5 by not upgrading the ps4 version to the ps5 version

I'm just confused about why there'd also be a 33% penalty for self-healing, that's not something that current Self-Care has. That's just the penalty for healing yourself with a medkit.

Broadly I agree that 32 second self heals (or realistically whatever the number would be with Botany) wouldn't be broken, I just think it'd be more potentially interesting to go in another route to differentiate Self-Care from Strength in Shadows. Making it more of a medkit buffing perk would be neat, if it's done carefully.

Because when I wrote my original comment I was very tired, had just done 4 hrs of work on UK land law, and didn't think my comment through very well lol. That's literally it.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3898703#Comment_3898703

Wait, I think I'm missing something - why would medkits having a debuff matter for how long Self Care takes to heal you?

So when I wrote my original comment, I said that we could take it up to 50% again and it wouldn't be busted, especially if it also retained the 33% penalty for self-healing. I appreciate this wasn't worded the best, but it effectively then wouldn't be 50% as it'd be 50% speed reduced again by 33 (not 27%, that'd be a nerf, but I don't think it'd be much different from current live). When I wrote it I completely forgot Strength in Shadows existed as an example that that probably wouldn't be the case, but I figured it's worth mentioning because 6.1.0 is proof that they have no issues gutting an already mid perk if it's usage rate is high enough.

But I stand by my point, even if it's just at 50% healing speed, meaning it takes 32 seconds to heal yourself, that still won't be busted OP. It'll make it a good perk again, absolutely, but good doesn't quite cut it in the no-heal full-gens DH/UB/WGLF/SB/OTR meta. Why would you bring a perk to heal yourself when you don't usually need to do so more than once or twice per game & you're probably getting tunneled anyway so a syringe would give you more value (hell, second wind would give more value if you played it right). I genuinely do not see a world where 32 second self-heals break the game, especially not in its current state, when they didn't break the game in 2022 and didn't break the game in 2018. If you reverted the 6.1.0 nerfs to self-care, I do not think it'd see a particularly high spike in playrate at the higher levels, and at the lower levels would actively make weaker killers who rely on hit and run more better and more viable because players would think it a good idea to spend every waking moment healing.

  • @sanees said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3898338#Comment_3898338

No, that would be OP healing another survivor is essentially 32% of the generator, and given that two survivors need to get together, it's much more, self-care 50+ botany is 28 seconds + you don't need to waste time grouping

It wasn't OP when it was 50% before the medkit nerfs when healing became 16 seconds, it definitely won't be OP if it's the new 24 second timer (meaning self-care takes 48 seconds to heal yourself), and it hasn't been OP since healing times went from 12s → 16s back in patch 2.3.0 - the perk has been mid since October 2018 and the 6.1.0 nerfs served to kill it outright.

Like don't get me wrong, self-care used to be the best perk in the game, bar none except maybe Decisive Strike. It has not held that crown for a long time because it wasn't the 50% that was busted, it was the 12s heals.

  • Hell they could increase the healing speed back to 50% and it still wouldn't be busted, especially if it retains the additional 33% penalty that medits have

  • Aside from the butchering of the UI, which I still don't understand, the actual release of ATW was just 10s all round. The marketing (rip marketing team), the following promo, the skins, the concept - the best original chapter BHVR have released in the 2020s and it's genuinely not even close. A decent map, a strong but not obscene killer… Sable Ward exists I guess! She doesn't detract from it but it could be another survivor and my feelings would be identical tbh.

Just fantastic, easily the best original chapter we've had since Cursed Legacy, a welcome breath of fresh air from the continually churned out slop we'd had previously (I mean how do you go from the highs of PROJECT W to the lows of Forged in Flop, Tools of Trash, the disappointment of Alien, the mistake of Chucky, and the missed potentials of Alan Wake and End Transmission; a generational fumble). I just wish they'd kept the same energy up for DnD (or given any of it to Tomb Raider & Castlevania, really).

  • In all fairness, this is Kaneki mid-fight with Yamori. Not after the fight, where he leaves Yamori alive enough for Juuzou to finish him off, not where he fights Ayato and breaks exactly half of his bones, and way before his Cochlea raid. He's literally just been tortured, watched Yamori kill a mother and child (people who he's being tortured specifically to protect, btw), experiencing ghoul hunger which is so bad it drives him to nearly kill Hide before Touka intervenes - I don't think it's too far of a stretch to say that this specific Kaneki is easy for the entity to manipulate.

Him riding the line between messiah and monster is why I find his character so fascinating, and while I wish he was a survivor (because then we could have Eto or even Arima as the killer hello) I don't think it's a stretch to say that taking Kaneki at one of those "moments" and keeping him that way forever allows him to fit the bill of being a killer.

  • good! fomo is bad and i wish theyd just bring everything to the store for a reasonable price, but having them available to purchase is a decent compromise

That was the old license holders

Hellraiser is now back to Clive barker in the US. I believe park avenue still own the international rights but the reason we even got the voice lines back was cause of Clive barker getting the rights and a strange bts stuff involving Bradley himself

They contracted with Park Avenue Entertainment. The contract didn't suddenly change to Clive Barker, especially because Park Avenue still own the international rights. The contract was always with Park Avenue, who were behind licencing Hellraiser out to Boss Protocol & thus licencing Hellraiser out to the NFTs. After all the backlash, I would have been very shocked if BHVR were going to extend the licence once it expired, which we can see here, it hasn't.

And even if we completely ignore that, it doesn't change the fact that we got no map, no survivor, and nothing since launch. It's been a mismanaged licence from day one.

  • @Reinami said:

With stranger things in general i was surprised that they have timed licenses. If i were them i wouldn't want a license if it could go away, and the license would work basically in perpetuity for the life of the game. But idk.

unfortunately perpetual licences just aren't standard. why would you want a one-time fee & royalties when you can have several fees & royalties which you can increase in line with inflation (and greed), alongside the more flexible nature of allowing for renegotiations. perpetual licences, especially for IPs, just aren't going to happen when there's money to be made.

  • id be sad about this but the licence holders made nft slop and then did nothing with the licence and we didn't even get a survivor or map so… good won i fear!

  • i think it'd be easier to name the maps i actively like playing on over the maps i actively dislike, because the state of map balance atm is beyond dire.

  • thank god for the offering change, mirror myers is fun bc of the surprise factor of it so seeing a lerys offering and knowing its a mirror myers immediately turns it into an easy to win snoozefest (unless its solo, but whats new) with the added benefit of meaning i can play on a realm that isnt lerys, springwood or eyerie more than once a month

  • nvidia isn't banned, dbd is still explicitly whitelisted by bhvr to run on nvidia's software, so i don't see why they'd start banning for it without removing the explicit go-ahead they've given since 2017 (iirc?). here's a comparison screenshot taken quite literally 30 seconds ago, and 20 seconds apart as proof

I think the issue there is adjusted the survivor hitboxes doesn't just affect Huntress, it effects every killer in the game.

The survivor hitbox is a vertical cylinder where it is because it makes calculation really simple and all melee hits consistent, and it makes survivor transition between walk and run animations feel correct and natural without causing the animation to sudddnly shunt the hitbox forward. After all if the hitbox matched the running survivor animation, the hitbox would be on a slant leaning away from the killer, and you would have to get ever so slightly closer on all melee hits for them to land.

This would mean to reduce the distance you would want to aim down and swing at the survivors feet, which is just silly... You also get this issue that you have to keep rotating the hitboxes in line with where the survivor turns... which as well as just being a lot more computationally expensive compared to juat tracking a vertical capsule, imagine how screwy it would be for spin techs and elevations.

Now the hatchets being as wide as they are is just computationally simple, you simply have a sphere hitbox you can easily do a calculation based on a single point, 1 simple vector calculation. It's a quick way of not having to deal with the rotation of the hatchet hitbox, and also not having to use a bounded square, which will obviously have extra reach it shouldn't have (imagine you're observing the hatchet spinning from the side, now draw a square around it, you'll have extra zones in the corners beyond the reach of the hatchet you shouldn't have).

Ideally you'd probably be best to have 2 smaller spheres spinning around the axes centre of rotation, and use those for collision alculations, or if you don't wanna handle the rotation, have 4 smaller spheres make up your hatchet... but you can easily see how much more collision calculation you're adding into the system compared to 1 single unmoving sphere.

So I think all of this is a case of BHVR quite sensibly enacting the age old principle of "keep it simple stupid".

You see, I mostly agree - I think her hitboxes are stupid, but for the sake of simplicity and because I do not trust anything to be changed in this game that's been here longer than 2 years without breaking something else somehow, this is one thing we just have to grin and bear - with one exception.

Instead of making her hatchet a sphere, or multiple rotating spheres around an axis, surely you can just make it a cylinder? Make it much narrower without having to compromise on diameter or compensate for the rotating - even if you get hit with just the handle it'll hurt like hell, and it will still cause damage - it just won't be a literal flying beach ball. I know very little on hurtbox logic so do correct me if I'm wrong, but having a cylinder instead of a sphere just makes so much more sense imo.

Slugging survivors isn’t bypassing game mechanics.

The problem with slugging is that both sides of the game are sometimes stuck watching survivors bleed out on the ground.

And this is why I keep saying that if a survivor is slugged for 60 seconds, they should get teleported to a 2v8 cage. That fixes slugging for the 4k, it fixes extended Knock Out slugging, and it fixes survivors that purposely place themselves in situations where the killer can’t reliably get them to a hook.

slugging, in and of itself, is not bypassing game mechanics. extended slugging is because it completely ignores hooking. knock out is but one way this playstyle is encouraged - there are others, from the community and from the developers themselves - so is deserving of a rework alongside the other ways this is encouraged alongside further base-game changes, such as your caging idea. I do not personally ever believe Knock Out currently can be healthy - but I've been saying this since 2018 - and wish BHVR would slow down on new content and focus on making the current content we have fun
