Wait, so there was a massive overflow of about 2 million crowns that don't count for the next 3 challenges, but can't be 'newly' collected again, so just got wasted for the purpose of these challenges? That seems like a terrible design - most of the people actually unlocking the crowns were going to be frontloaded at the start of the event. If they were going to handle the event like this (and only count freshly unlocked crowns instead of counting anyone interacting with the crown pedestal, regardless of unlocks), they needed to immediately give out the charms as soon as 500k was unlocked and start the next challenge then. They just burned a bunch of unlocks at the time that most people would be actually getting them.
I genuinely don't know what BHVR means by "any that you've unlocked will count towards the final challenge."
It could be that all pre-unlocked crowns will count towards all the goals, it could mean that BHVR are royally ######### us with this (considering I literally have every crown unlocked already). It's frustrating.
-
Also in terms of what does or doesn't count towards "collecting" a challenge:
https://twitter.com/DeadByBHVR/status/1412119598959317016?s=20For those that can't access Twitter, it only includes newly unlocked crowns, however any crowns already unlocked will count towards the challenge.

David would be nice, I think. Protective, strong, but also strikes me as the person to enjoy the occasional cuddle. Jake I wouldn't mind, either, he's pretty cute, and you can all fight me on this but so is Dwight (also the fact that Jake seems like he wouldn't try to have a conversation with you which I am 100% here for, and Dwight's magical talent of serious manipulation would be helpful too).
In terms of killers, Wraith springs to mind instantly. I wanna cuddle the poor man, he didn't deserve anything he went through. Trapper would be a nice pillow for obvious reasons, and also didn't deserve what he went through. Maybe Joey because he's kinda fit. Pyramid Head for both the cake and the death- I am more than happy with both.
-
I'm farming because it gets people crowns, I get crowns, everyone gets BP and all of my survivor matches for the day have involved being camped, slugged, and tunneled at 5 gens. I want people to actually enjoy trials vs me, and enjoy the event in general, so I farm with them. If you don't want to farm, shame, but oh well. Just do gens and I'll hook the rest of your teammates and maybe chase you

As much as I hate to say it, with PS5s still incredibly unavailable and scalpers rubbing their greedy little mittens together it might be best to invest in the SSD. We don't know when BHVR will fix optimisation issues, or if they're even capable of it at this point, so if you can comfortably spend the $100 I'd say get it.
Let me repeat that- only do so if you can comfortably spend this money. Do not sacrifice anything essential, such as food or any money used for transport, for this game.

All I'm gonna say is that if you take this stance then you have absolutely zero right to complain about clicking, flashlights, genrushing, tbagging, etc. If one side shouldn't care for the other's fun, then the other shouldn't care back.
Which, you know, continues the cycle of toxicity and makes the game a worse experience for everyone but hey! Some people get kicks out of making other peoples' experiences as ######### as possible and who am I to judge?

I mean, yeah I've easily spent over 100, maybe 150 quid on the game but I've also got over 3.1k hours. Compare that to spending 65 quid on REVillage for about 30 hours and I'm substantially better off continuing to play DBD.
Not to mention I've spent a load of money in Paladins and barely touch the game anymore. I spent so, so much trying to get this one skin for my main, and eventually got it (yay loot boxes), doesn't mean I can't move on.

Okay so this may sound dumb but stay with. Bait out the flash by uncloaking slightly till they shine the light, before you stop the uncloak and run around them in a circle. Your speed can usually outpace their mouse movements, though zig-zagging works too. They'll waste a lot of their flashlight on you doing this- though it's a lot more complex if you ever animation lock yourself (like breaking a pallet or vaulting a window without Shadow Dance). Best advice in that scenario is to take the burn then not re-cloak in chase if you feel like they can get to loops that force you into animation lock again.

The pattern in my eyes has far too large a sample size to not have even remotely evened out over time. I mean we're talking about more than 4 1/2 years of data. Sure, it's possible to flip a coin 500 times and land heads on all of them, but it isn't feasible to do that without doing something to deliberately make it happen, like weighting one side of the coin. Based on the amount of times perks that are not in Tome challenges appear right after major changes to those perks (like with Zanshin, Object, DS, and BT), I think it's a safe assumption there's more human intervention than they're letting on. BHVR has never exactly been forthcoming in the inner workings of their game or even their team; that much is indicated by the sheer amount of things they've said they were doing or thinking about that we magically never heard of again. I'm drawing a conclusion based off a statistical pattern; the Infinite Monkey Theorem doesn't typically apply in the real world because of the insane amount of trials that it would likely take to make such a pattern occur. Speedrunning mod teams used probability to determine that Dream was cheating, and as it turns out in most extraordinary cases, assuming something is up is a more than safe assumption when you've got that large a sample size.
Okay so, firstly, have you heard of paragraphs? It makes your writing significantly easier to read.
The pattern in my eyes has far too large a sample size to not have even remotely evened out over time. I mean we're talking about more than 4 1/2 years of data.
Are we now? Because if we take a look at the perks you're on about most of them barely break through the 4 year mark, with the exception of perks from the original characters.
Also if we take a look at the perks on the survivor side, every single perk except for Dead Hard was released within a year of the game's release. Dead Hard was released on 27th July 2017, so just over a year and a month after the release. Looking at the killer side, Tinkerer, Ruin, Devour, and STBFL are the only perks released in this timeframe (BBQ was 14th September 2017). PGTW, Discordance, and Corrupt were Year 2 perks, while Thrilling was a Year 3 perk and Undying was a Year 4 perk.
So, it's hardly a fair comparison.
Furthermore, look at how many times Calm Spirit, Urban Evasion, or Botany Knowledge has appeared in the Shrine.
Sure, it's possible to flip a coin 500 times and land heads on all of them, but it isn't feasible to do that without doing something to deliberately make it happen, like weighting one side of the coin
Yes, actually, it is. That's how probability works- regardless of how small the chance, it is still entirely possible.
Based on the amount of times perks that are not in Tome challenges appear right after major changes to those perks (like with Zanshin, Object, DS, and BT), I think it's a safe assumption there's more human intervention than they're letting on.
You're seeing patterns where there are none. It's fine, it's what humans do (we look for patterns everywhere) but it's just random chance.
BHVR has never exactly been forthcoming in the inner workings of their game or even their team; that much is indicated by the sheer amount of things they've said they were doing or thinking about that we magically never heard of again.
Actually, they have. Because things go through the consultation phases, which is when all they can say is "We're working on this", and are then either developed further (OOO rework) or completely scrapped (Early-game Collapse)
I'm drawing a conclusion based off a statistical pattern; the Infinite Monkey Theorem doesn't typically apply in the real world because of the insane amount of trials that it would likely take to make such a pattern occur.
Still creating a pattern where there is none. Random chance doesn't have a pattern, which is what makes it random.
Speedrunning mod teams used probability to determine that Dream was cheating, and as it turns out in most extraordinary cases, assuming something is up is a more than safe assumption when you've got that large a sample size.
Except we have proof that the developers have confirmed the Shrine is randomised. People have been digging through the code of DBD- it's how we know it's such a mess- and they haven't raised anything. So, again, the burden of proof falls upon you since you're the one accusing it of not being randomised.
The Shrine of Secrets is randomised unless one of three criteria are met:
- Perks are needed for an Archive challenge, at which point they will appear if A) the perk has not yet appeared during this Tome and B) it is the first week of the challenges.
- There is a game version desync, which occured during the release of Leatherface onto the Nintendo Switch edition.
- The developers are making a joke, such as the April Fools of 2020 which lasted for 24 hours and contained only Calm Spirit.

how can you update the game graphically while keeping it optimized for 8+ year old consoles?
If resident evil village can do it then I think bhvr stands a chance, with a game that's significantly less graphically intensive. For a multiplayer look at Paladins or Overwatch or maybe even Fortnight or Apex :/
It's not like there's a shortage of well-optimised recent releases lol

I never said BHVR hates killer players. "And I'm not saying the devs are doing this intentionally" is a pretty big indicator of that. And in my eyes the dev tag on the forums is not an accurate representation of every BHVR employee's job description. To me a developer is someone directly responsible for coding the game. For example, a web developer is not a guy the company pays to communicate ideas to the guy who creates the website; the one coding the actual website is. I would not consider Mathieu Cote as a developer either because that's not in his job description. And I'm not selling them short, either. Someone like Peanits is equally important as the ones modeling, coding, balancing, etc. because their job is to take community feedback and communicate that to the rest of the team so they know what to focus on and fix. That said, since he wasn't responsible for coding the algorithm they use to pseudo-randomly select shrine perks, unless he himself has seen the code and understands how it works he cannot and will not know exactly how it chooses the perks. All he would know is what he was told. And based off the devs' recent history with the awful spaghetti code of DBD, I think it's fair to assume their Shrine algorithm (assuming there is zero human intervention, which I doubt) is equally as flawed as the rest of their game, which is very much so.
And so please share, in your infinite wisdom, the sources for your claims that the Shrine isn't randomly selected, preferably complete with the code that makes it so. Because, rather unfortunately, we actually have a source for our claim that isn't "Well most of DBD is buggy". Because unless you've seen the code, how would you know?
I assume you know the analogy about monkeys on the typewriter? That applies here too. Probability can do what is thought to be near-impossible, because if it isn't actually impossible then it can happen.

1: Peanits is a Community Manager, not a Developer. He may well be under the assumption that that is the case, but the underlying system may not reflect that.
2: It could very well be down to their algorithm being flawed, though the amount of times we've seen a perk being changed then appearing in shrine (regardless of whether it is in Tome, like with Zanshin Tactics) seems to indicate there is a noticeable amount of human intervention.
Bestie please tell me you see the large "DEV" tag next to Peanits' name. Please please tell me that you don't think that someone working for BHVR doesn't have communication with other employees of BHVR??!!
You just want to ignore any facts to fit your narrative of "BHVR HATES KILLER PLAYERS" when that's literally not the case. Orion has already provided you with the proof so stop being stubborn lmao

Trickster buffs addressed literally none of his issues ._.
The biggest problem with Trickster is that he has two modes: Guaranteed death or guaranteed safety. If the survivor doesn't have a high wall loop, guaranteed death mode initiates and the survivor cannot physically do anything. If the survivor does have a high wall loop, then guaranteed safety mode kicks in and there's nothing you can do against the survivor. These changes have just made guaranteed death even more guaranteed while changing nothing of value, meaning that he's just become even more unfun.
And you still can't pocket Main Event.

Oni and Hillbilly I think they are one the rarest killers on higher ranks, because takes extreme ammount skill to play well, yet the rewards are worse than with Spirit, which takes almost no effort
Don't survivors often call Clown and Legion boring despite them also being regarded as some of the weakest killers?

Yes because the evil of one side justifies the use of it on the other doesn't it.

Some of them, like the reindeer Elodie, should stay 3 part links imo but others, like Katie's Oktoberfest outfit, Jane's Goddess Muse outfit, and maybe even Nea's Graft Crafter outfit should just be linked clothing and the head can be used on anything (though using the linked clothing does link in the head, so you have to use the set head if you use the other bits of the set, but can detach the head if you don't use either of the other two bits). Same with weapons.
They did say sets were 2 or more, after all.

Where did I get it from? Oh idk maybe the fact the game is a square??
When you play on the normal (1920*1080) resolution, the game looks like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGrwRSeWPOQ&tAs a hint, this is a rectangle, not a square. However when you play on a form of stretched red and it goes back into 1920*1080 displays, it ends up looking like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dtq_1HPqknQWhich is a lot closer to a square, but not quite.
Yours is... significantly higher than the 2nd clip. That's where I got it from (especially considering that even on ultrawide screens you can definitely have the game play in 1920*1080)

Look I don't wanna pick and choose sides but you playing Spirit with filters + a res that stretched doesn't exactly make you out to be a saint.

Rather unfortunately the server-sided hit validation doesn't seem to have worked ever so as survivor your game experience is still determined by the killer's connection.
