Really guys? Really? Seriously. How have none of you answered Hex: Ruin...? That is the only killer perk I won't play without. It's basically like the killers equivalent to Borrowed Time.

If it only showed totems it would be a horrible perk.
Totems aren't hard to come across in most matches, the fact that it other things is what makes it decent.
Huh? What? It would be a flat out better version of Detectives Hunch. Wait, ######### are you using Maps or DH for if not Totems?

I know I made a post about this before but I feel it needs to be emphasized more. I feel its not going to be used at all. It's just a map in a perk which other perks like detectives hunch and visionary is better. I think it needs a buff and there are a few ways to buff it. I
1. Make it also show killer traps.
I know people don't want it but I still think this would make it good enough to be used more. And it has a activation condition to make it more balanced. It probably won't happen but It's just a suggestion.
2. Only show the killers aura.
I think this is also a fair tradeoff. If that would be to small then you could lower the time slightly.
3. Make it revel the auras to all survivors
This would make it more of a team perk which can be good in solo. Not so much in awf but thats fine.
4. Make you immune to the blindness status effect.
This is small but I think it will make it more better.
I think these suggestions would make the perk better. If they don't buff it I'm sure it will see little use. (I will probably still use it but thats because I use all perks but still)
- No. The perk would remain as terrible as it is now only it would be stupid annoying for the rare trapper that stumbles across the guy that is running it for memes.
- This is probably the best idea although it may be a little OP.
- It would just be a crappy bond.
- This has nothing to do with the ability.
-
@OP Join a SWF. I don't care if I get camped in a SWF I just tell my friends to slam gens and bully the killer at the exit gate.
@[Deleted User] said:
Do gens leave with 3 survivors don't need much IQ for that.
@Nathan13 said:
The easiest counter play you have to camping is slamming out gens.
You have zero control over what solos do. This is why you SWF! SWF should be default. Solos should get coms and killers should get buffed.

80-20 Survivor main as well. Killer is much more painful and stressful then survivor but not weaker(In before the ocean of REEEEEING because god forbid I say the game is balanced.)
Am I gonna quit survivor? No and I am not gonna quit playing killer either. Why would I? If you hate the game just stop playing it.

More survivors need to be like you. Instead of screaming for nerfs you played the other side to improve. I salute you.
Yea, because killers never cry... 😑

@fantasyone said:
Nope, not at all.
Not a single nerf to survivor items/addons/perks,
the only thing that got nerf is hatch, which should happen 9months ago when they murder mori.
is that even a surprise?
Does every thread have to be turned into a killer whine thread? Seriously? Every single one.
-Both sides got buffs to bad perks.
-Killers got buffs to addons.
-Certain killers got nerfed.
-Massive Key nerf.
Overall the patch favors killers if we ignore the DLC. Which we should because it is a pure survivor DLC so of coarse they got new stuff. Hellraiser DLC was a pure killer DLC.

For solo queue, I get why survivors prefer to have 4 second chances. As usual, the real problem is more when swf stack that many get out of jail free cards. But whatever, if I want to avoid that, I can just tunnel and camp. Lol.
What are all these second chance perks exactly? Dead Hard? Okay that's one... BT? Don't tunnel. DS? Don't tunnel. Unbreakable? Meh, if a survivor get's slugged someone can just pick them up anyway. I rarely see Unbreakable and I don't run it myself.
Also you run NOED don't you? 🤗

Boon: Unyielding(When a Totem is snuffed out it's effects are transferred to another random Dull Totem.)
Boon: Entities Chosen (For every generator completed gain a Token. At 5 Tokens gain Endurance Status Effect. When the Endurance status effect is used Snuff this Totem.)

No, I’m not saying they shouldn’t be stronger… I’m saying that if they’re going to be strong then they need more of a downside. Simply blessing ONE totem to get 4 perks (whenever more boon perks come out) with strong benefits for FOUR survivors is insane.
And if the killer snuffs it he get's rid of 2 perks. Assuming they limit it to 1.

And Boon Totems affect all FOUR survivors so they should be balanced differently as well.
This is so disengenous. So the boon perks can't be any stronger then regular perks is what you are saying? The limitation is supposed to be the range. Fine how about this. How about they have global range but only effect the survivor who lit it? Obviously they can't be relit either.
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
Most survivor perks are meh, and yet, people still buy survivors. Boons are no exception, really. As long as she has cake, people will buy.
I won't. Resident Evil was kinda the last straw. 6 new survivor perks and they were all bad. I don't want anything OP but if these Boons turn out to be junk yet again I will simply not buy it. There is not even a fun new killer to entice me this time either.

Wouldn't say nobody.
There's people like me who just want to have all Perks on their main.
There's also people who would get the Survivor for their looks, Felix is a major example of that being true.
Then there's also streamers & YouTubers who just want everything for their viewers.
The first 2 are often the same people. I love Feng Min. If they add someone I find more attractive that has even cuter outfits I will switch over but otherwise everyone else serves to feed perks to Feng Min.

Good points. It reminds me of the Self-Care cries about how fast and unfair it was that Survivors could heal. So they nerfed SC, and now most (maybe all?) high-tier Survivors don't even run SC and stay injured to focus on gens. I see it all the time; people will often forgo healing even while on death hook to finish the gen. Many of the "XYZ is OP" videos are so skewed; you can make such a video about anything to which you allocate 100% of your perks. Of course, a situation you have dedicated perks for will be optimal and fast. I run stuff like Brutal Strenght, Enduring, Fire Up, Nemesis, Spirit Fury, and Zanshin Tactics whenever I need pallets. Make a video with that and watch how fast you recover and break pallets and continue the chase. I bet it appears unfair and OP to the receiving Survivors.
My issue with those videos isn't that they require a healing build. If that was the case that would be overpowered as all hell. The real issue is that they are just "look what I can do with my friends under a controlled environment!!! Hurdurrdurr." I can have all 4 people stack together and mow them all down instantly with Leatherface. Should that be possible? Should it be possible for all 4 survivors to go down instantly? "Look at this Probzz video I found and tell me that isn't OP."

not true. Dark souls has Iframes on every roll. In fact in Dark soul 2, There is stat called Agility that influences how fast your roll is and how long Iframe is. Nioh 1 and Nioh 2 also use Iframes for dodging. So does Sekiro Shadows die Twice.
If anything, most games use Iframes.
I think problem with dead hard is that when used correctly, It creates "lose/lose" situations where survivor can gamble another loop and keep gambling every loop until they misjudge distance or make poor movement error in which dash component can correct the error.
David king is suppose to have perks that have "High risk, High reward" and yet his perk dead hard when used as dash is low risk, high reward. If you want dead hard to be non-meta perk but still remain useful, you can change to grant 1 second endurance effect and remove dash component.
It would be high-risk/high reward. It wouldn't be meta perk though. I'm certain everyone who hates using Sprint burst would use Lithe and rest would use Sprint burst.
That is actually a very good idea for the perk. Honestly, 90% of the reason I run it is so the killer can't just block the gate with NOED at the end of the game. I find that so frustrating. This would preserve that aspect while hopefully nerfing it in loops.

Last time I played Nurse the survivors didn't even do gens they just ran circles around me while flashlighting me for 30 minutes straight and then tbagged all way while walking half way across the map to the exit gate. I am never playing Nurse again after that experience.

She is still invisible and moves at 176% movement speed compared to survivors’ 100%. Survivors just have counterplay now and it feels like an interactive battle between the killer and survivor, even though the killer has most of the control as they should.
The only thing that was gutted about Spirit was the stand still stupid ######### which I’m glad is getting removed. It absolutely needed to go. It was a cute little thing the first time you witness it but there’s just nothing good about it.
Good Spirit players like myself will be just fine after this nerf and she’s going to be even more fun than before because of the counterplay she has been given.
Also, one last thing I would like to say is I know that this is my 100th time mentioning Spirit since the nerf announcement but I’m just very excited for what’s about to come for Rin.
I am a Spirit main and I am scared to play her... Can any Spirit mains tell me... Is she gonna be alright? Is she still strong?

To be fair, this'un isn't just a BHVR archetype, it's a soft trope in the entire horror genre. That's what I was suggesting; One per Survivor, while only one being active at a time. I don't think it's a matter of it being better or worse than Self-Care, as this is more focused on the bigger picture of how this Stacks with literally everything else that already increases Healing Speeds. See how that kinda creates a wider spectrum needing to be seen here? by itself, yeah, it may be a worse Self-Care, but that's being applied to ALL Survivors in the Area, and if they already have Self-Care/Healing Items, then that speed is further increased. That's where the strength of this lies (when in conjunction with everything else that IS actively being used with it), and that's why it's current tremendously high value is an issue as of now.
K, then suggesting making it not stack instead of turning it into Self Care.

@SxfetyPin said:
Hello, hope you're all having a good day/night. Since I've seen so much discourse over the new Boon Totems in the PTB, I've decided to put myself out there and interact with the community for the first time. There will be no TL;DR for this Post, as I feel every detail mentioned here is extremely important to the point that I'm trying to articulate here. I'm well-aware that I may be wasting my time typing all of this; This Post may never be seen, or acknowledged by the Devs at all. But I still want to take the chance and put my thoughts out here.
I have a lot of experience in competitive games, and would like to give my input upon how Boon Totems have the major potential to take away the thrill of competition in Dead by Daylight. This is going to be an extremely long Post, covering many intersecting problems with how players approach the game, and how their views can possibly have DbD in a "Make or Break' scenario. I will aslo be covering solutions to these problems/how I would adjust these things in hopes for it to create a more enjoyable game across the board.
Let me start by saying that yes, I am a Killer Main. Now, I've played a fair bit of Survivor as well- but I mainly love to play Legion, Ghost Face, Demogorgon, and Trapper. If this somehow invalidates my opinions for you, then this isn't a Post for you to read; I only want to start some kind of intelligent conversation between us. Nothing negative is implied. Please go into this this Post with a clear mind while considering both sides of this coin.
Now, as soon as Boon Totems were announced, I- and many others- immediately knew that there was major potential for this to "Ruin" the game to an extent. So far, it seems that they're doing just that. But let me give my take upon this whole ordeal, and how we can create something healthy from it.
How I Play the Game; This may be an odd thing to include in a Post like this, but it's purely to create transparency between us! I play the game doing my best to not tunnel anybody. I go out of my way to gain eleven Hooks every game, and (most of the time, when I feel it's been earned) give Hatch to the last Survivor. I love to use Make Your Choice on nearly all of my Builds! I feel as if it creates a layer of critical thinking and choices to make for both sides; I give you a Safe Unhook, but you become Exposed. Do you stick around and risk doing Gens, or do you grab my attention and attempt to lead me into a Deadend- a location where a Gen has already been done- for your teammates to then have comfort in doing objectives in the other areas of the map? Competitive Critical Thinking, with a fast choice to be made for both sides; Do I commit to you for that one-hit down? Or do I sacrifice that potential value to establish Map Control elsewhere? I have to make a choice here too. All in all, I feel as if this creates an engaging and fun Match for both sides! I feel as if this is healthy, as if I were to commit to an Exposed target, I 100% can be outplayed and not only lose my value, but also a lot of time that may have been more valuably applied elsewhere. This is all to make it clear the competitive layers that this game does have. From mindgames, hiding red lights, making tough decisions in hopes for it to pay off; That is what makes Dead by Daylight fun for me.
Now, the true reality of this is; Not everyone plays the game the way I do! Many Killers go out of their way to Tunnel, Face-Camp, etc. all to ruin the fun for the other side and eliminate any fun competition that could be had. I know that this is extremely unsatisfying for Survivors, and I feel that this should be dealt with with actual penalties being systematically built into the game; Oh. you're Face-Camping? Bloodpoints can be subtracted from your final Bloodpoint count. Or even more severely, less Iridescent Shards obtained upon your next Level-up. Because truthfully, Face-Camping is Griefing; You are going out of your way to ruin the experience for other players. This kind of behavior should be shunned, and punished accordingly. Me saying this, is all to build your understanding that despite me being a Killer main, I am on both sides when I play; I want both sides to have a fun, fair, and engaging competitive match, for every lobby that I'm a part of.
So, to address the main topic at hand here, Boon Totems; How do they take away from the competitive experience of DbD? Well, the fact that it's possible to hold a lobby Hostage, Body-Blocking a Boon Totem and Healing faster than the speed in which a Killer can hit you a second time to down you WITH Sloppy Butcher active is definitely one to say the least. Although this does require a "Circle of Healing" (two Survivors Healing one Survivor), this is still an undeniable blatant issue. These Healing Speeds are outright ridiculous given the fact that they stack with the plethora of other Perks/Items that already increase Healing Speeds as is. Healing Mid-Chase is nothing new at all, but the fact that you can Syringe and not even make it half way around Killer Shack before gaining a Health State is absolutely absurd and unfair for the Killer. With the way that Boon Totems are, they eliminate any competition to be had for the Killer, as no matter the circumstance, anything gained through a critical thinking decision can be negated within a few seconds by a Survivor. This turns a risk/reward situation for a Survivor to a win/win and a lose/lose for the Killer. This isn't engaging fun anymore. This is a one-sided blowout no matter how you view it.
"Well, the Killer can just kick my Boon Totem and take it away!" While this is true, there no chance to make a critical decision for the Killer,"Do I want to get rid of this Boon Totem, and make it a Dull again for my endgame Hexes to come into play? Or do I want to outright completely destroy the Totem altogether to prevent another Boon here?" this points out the very obvious scenario of Survivors simply coming back to that exact Totem and infinitely replacing this Boon. Although it does take fifteen seconds in order to place a Boon, the amount of value gained from these Boons makes the time "sacrificed" a non-factor.
While killer Hexes are strong, once they're gone, then that's it; They're gone for the rest of the game. So why are Survivors not only able to replace them infinitely, but also place multiple across the map (if multiple Survivors are running them)? That's again, blatantly unfair for the Killer and eliminates any risk to be had on the Survivor's side of the coin. Don't mistake me for saying this as,"Oh, I'm a Killer- big killer man! I should mogwall these plebs with ease!" Absolutely not! I want this to be a fair and engaging addition to the game for both sides.
So how would I change Boon Totems? Well, they should be capped to once per game per Survivor, while only one allowed to be active at a time. It's only fair to match the Totem's behavior with how Killer totems work. Not only this, but these values need to be drastically toned down; For example, increase Healing Speed by 15%. This may sound major- which it is- but I also want to add a competitive layer of decision making to this; Boon Totem values are DOUBLED if the Boon Totem is applied to an active Hex Totem. Making this 15%, now 30%. But this adds yet another layer of,"What if this Hex Totem is Hex: Haunted Ground? If I risk this for the double in value for my Boon, I may risk my team being snowballed from the Exposed Status Effect. Maybe I should play it safe, and find a Dull Totem?" See what I'm saying here? Engaging, critical thinking for both sides. So in the future of a Boon being added of,"While in the radius of the Boon Totem, you gain 2% Haste. It could be 4% Haste if you were to risk Booning an active Hex Totem." Sounds fun, right? It does to me!
To my next point/solution;"Boon Totems deserve to be strong due to Hex: Undying and Hex: Ruin being way too strong!" To that, I say rework how Hex: Undying works;"Whenever Hex: Undying is cleansed, it takes 1/4th of the protected Hex's power with it." So instead of Hex: Ruin digressing Gens by 200% still, once Hex: Undying is Cleansed, Hex: Ruin would be digressing Gens by 50%. Rewarding the Survivor for cleansing Hex: Undying but also adding the decision making layer of,"Is it worth it to look for Ruin now? Or can we manage with 50% digression?" Adding more layers to gameplay creates an engaging environment for both sides! To point this out, is the core message of this Post. For another example, if Hex: Devour Hope has 4 Tokens, then Hex: Undying were to be Cleansed, it would regress Hex: Devour Hope back to 1 Token. Adding depth to this system makes the game more fun and engaging for both sides. While the Killer loses some of that Hex's power, the potential for it to be regained is still there. While Survivors still hold the potential to deny the possibility of that being regained as well through cleansing Hex: Devour Hope before it's power is rebuilt. From how I view this, this is a fantastic solution to this problem, while also introducing a healthy and fun competitive system to the game.
All in all, I just want the expansion of this game to be healthy and fun for both sides playing. I don't want one side of the coin completely outweighing the other. I only strive for the game to be as balanced as it can possibly be.
What are your thoughts on this? Are these outright terrible ideas? Or am I possibly onto something here? I'd love to hear some of your constructive criticism, and have a deep discussion on these topics. I hope you enjoyed reading this and thank you if you made all the way through. Again, have a good day/night.
"So how would I change Boon Totems? Well, they should be capped to once per game per Survivor, while only one allowed to be active at a time. It's only fair to match the Totem's behavior with how Killer totems work. Not only this, but these values need to be drastically toned down; For example, increase Healing Speed by 15%."
Limiting to 1 isn't enough... You actually wanna make it into Self Care as well... Lol. This right here is why we can't have an honest conversation. You wrote this entire post just to suggest gutting the perk to the point where it's worse then Self Care(Probably the worst perk in the game.) If you limit it to 1 per survivor it may turn out to be okay but I do expect some buffs and a Boon: Undying at some point. If you make it Self Care it's gonna be a trash perk that nobody will ever run.

This is exactly how Behavior works. They bait cash with empty promises, then backpedal. I was a fool for thinking they were actually going to give Spirit any counterplay lol
To be fair, they probably will go through with the phase sound change which is all she needed IMO but yea, survivor perks all suck. Everyone knows this and so how were they ever going to sell a survivor DLC? LOL. Seems pretty obvious to me...

Deathslinger is proof that you are full of it. He got nerfed way harder than Spirit, quite frankly. And they made him less unique to top it off. And less survivor mains are cheering about it.
They are likely telling the truth. It just didn't happen and it might still happen. Lol.
Which I think is funny because nobody asked for a Deathslinger nerf. But again, don't worry killer nerfs are almost always reverted. Then the Boons will be gutted and everyone can go back to complaining that BHVR are survivor biased.

90% healing and self care weak?
I a killer 3 gens you can set this up close by take a hit run to the totem and heal yourself in a base 8 seconds (while 2-3 other people work on gens) and the go back to working on gens. The killer can leave the 3 gen and snuff it out but it will probably cost the 3 gen.
Not how it works. It is selfcare. That means it takes 32 seconds +100% healing = 16 second heal. It is actually quite balanced.

Thank you for the recommendations. If anyone else sees this, please weigh in. I'd like as much input on the subject as I can get.
I've been thinking hard about Spine Chill, the problem is that I don't find myself paying that much attention to the icons and, on top of that, I can't tell what direction the killer is looking in so I don't know which way to go. Is there a trick to that? I only tried the perk once or twice.
Iron Will sounds good.
Regarding hurting my team, I strongly disagree. I have done so many gens and stealth saves while others were looping that I'm guessing it's consisted of at least a third of my total playtime. I'm also the only person I ever see cleansing totems (which I legitimately enjoy doing). I'm not hurting my team, I'm doing the same thing that they are - improving our chances of victory. Just less recklessly. If anything I'm usually the one to die after doing much of the work because when I DO get caught there's not much I can do.
Oh my I am sorry but just wow. "those useless loopers not helping the team!"
You were only able to do those things because they were looping. The people getting chased are taking all the pressure off of everyone else allowing them to do gens/saves/bones. Playing immersive just means that you are relying on everyone else to get hooked. But it is worse then that because you are not doing gens/saves/bones as fast because you are taking longer to get to them and getting off them every 5 seconds because you heard a heart beat.
And yea, you are going down fast because I don't wanna be mean but... You don't know how to loop... Yes, it's hard. It is in fact where all the skill in playing survivor comes from. Yes, you will die allot. But eventually getting chased will give you a massive high feeling. You will feel excited. I still remember the first day a killer actually ######### gave up on me... Feels amazing...
-
There is a solution to all this. I know it is hard to believe. But simply open your mind to the possibilities. Imagine a world where there are no useless Claudette's hiding in a bush all game and self caring in the basement. Imagine a world where Megs don't walk around to save there sprint burst only to use it in the middle of a dead zone and go down instantly. Imagine a world where all 3 people don't go for save and get mowed down by a camping baby Bubba. Imagine a world where everyone who isn't being chased is on a generator and the survivors are all doing exactly what they are supposed to do! 😃
"Impossible!" You shout. But I assure you it is very possible. You don't have to believe. See for yourself. Fulfil your dead by daylight destiny...
...And join a Survive with Friends group... 😈

NOED is a crutch perk. "Do bones" is irrelevant. The whole point is that it gives someone who would otherwise 0k a 1k/2k. Yet, if you didn't run it you might 3/4k instead because you have a perk that actually does something before the game is over. The complaint isn't that it's overpowered. It's that noobs use it to get kills that they shouldn't get. Running Dead Hard will not make you a better or worse survivor. Running NOED will actually make you a worse killer.

That's not comparable with what they're saying.
They're objecting to the idea that being 'ugly' makes a woman bad or worth less. They've said nothing about people going around yelling at women.
And despite Nea being a collection of pixels, I think it's a fair complaint. I mean, we see a lot of real people as pixels on a screen. Bad thoughts and habits start somewhere.
If you disagree you're free to say so, but I think we should leave it at that. Let people get back to the primary thread topic.
That is not a 1 gender issue. Society values unattractive people less. Pretty privilege is very real, That is the way the world works unfortunately.

No this is old. Why are prosts from 2018 showing up? I noticed this too. If you go to general it shows posts from 2018.

Because they don't play Killer. Simple, anyone who has played ONE high rank game of Killer would understand why Boon totems are such a horrible idea.
Just like how Lucky Break is hilariously broken and makes killer unplayable?

What are you talking about?

Claire. She looks awful.

Why can't survivors just do bones? Killers have to assume survivors have DS and not tunnel them, or assume they have BT and not hit them off the hook. Why can't survivors assume totems and do them? The game is balanced around survivors not slamming the gens as hard as they do.
DS was nerfed... ######### are you talking about?

Yea Claire looks awful. Saying you can't see the difference is absurd. Leon looks like he was ported exactly as is.

Feng because she is the smallest. Then simply run Iron Will.
