It's a mess. Easily the worst of the franchise, finally unseating 3D. It's not quite as unpleasant to sit through, but it's way, way more boring.
If the rumors are correct, it was a partially finished script from another movie that got crammed into the Saw universe, plus Chris Rock insisting on writing a lot of his script himself (meaning that the tone is all over the place). Half the time he's just doing a stand-up skit, which can be really funny, but is not what you go to a Saw movie to see.
The traps are lame, and uninspired. While it makes sense once you guess the killer, it's still annoying - all but one are straight up 'kill' traps, in that they are impossible to survive. The final trap also makes absolutely zero sense, and is purely there for some heavy-handed social commentary on an already overplayed issue.
Plus, the MPAA apparently butchered a lot of the gore.
The identity of the killer is so ridiculously obvious that you'll get there before the movie is halfway done.
The chronology is silly, with constant unneeded jumps around in time.
Jackson is fun as always, and Rock is way better than I expected him to be, but it feels like an episode of Chicago PD doing a Saw homage.
Sounds like an in depth review without spoiling anything. You may have found your calling.

On one hand, yay.
On the other hand, I don't want to ever be reminded of Spiral. I'd rather sit through Saw 3D again.
I was hoping it was good. I’m guessing Spiral was that bad?

Try Diablo 2.

I might like her if she wasn’t so damn loud with her powers. Those loud ass ######### whispers ruin her

He’s not camping. He’s crying. Do you not see the pain and suffering in his stance? Those survivors have bullied him time and time again.
he’s really just asking himself why he puts up with this #########.

I never used it before the buff cause it seemed useless.
Throw on a tool box with added charges and streetwise and old Built, that’s a fast last gen. With buff, it’s two or three gens.
oh, you’ve added bond with Prove Thyself? You’ve busted those gens cherry’s like Don Juan on prom night.
-
it was good before the buff. It’s awesome after the buff.
-
Survivors should be able to cleanse boon totems. It would add a bit of cut-throat play.
-
Survivors after the update.
for those that know this scene. Killers are the poor bastard in the chair.

I was watching some old footage from 2018 DBD back when I started and I never actually noticed just how much more atmosphere there was in the darker maps. It's a real shame how bright the maps are now. Maybe that's why I like Midwich so much. It's more like the original DBD maps than the original DBD maps.
The ambiance of Midwich certainly holds a more endearing feel than a lot of the reworked maps.
-
There is certainly a huge divide between 2018 to now. In atmosphere and feel.
-
I thinking would be a pretty interesting game. First one out lived. Killer puts pressure on the survivors to finish. I approve this message.

You could buy a moon pie and a glass bottled coke for 10 cents at one time. Money is treated like ######### these days. Gas also used to be 27 cents a gallon. You could get a steel bodied used car for $600 bucks.

Hot wheels or tonka trucks

Bring back 7 blink nurse!

You doing a new play through?

Shadow step is incredibly strong. It neuters the aura reading part of a killers arsenal. Even the best killers find survivors from stray scratch marks in the environment, not even in chase. And audio? The sound occlusion is bugged half the time and the other half the survivors are running iron will so it doesn't matter regardless.
Circle of healing singlehandedly kills the hit and run play style. It's insane the amount of control is removes from killers in a match. There are no choices to be made, commit to every chase because you cannot create pressure any other way. The option simply does not exist. This is bad for the game.
It wasn’t hard to see the boon totems were going to be hugely problematic. They should not have been introduced. New mechanics are welcomed, but not at the expense of the other side.
-
Boon.
-
Boons were going to be an issue from the start. I’ve always played both sides but I’ve all but stopped playing killer for the moment. There was always an element of stress to the role but I just don’t care to deal with it anymore.
I’ve been running CoH and SS just to test them out. Boons in corn fields and multi level maps are ridiculous. Just played a match on the game against a Billy were another survivor was running both boons. He never got a hook. He couldn’t keep track and it took no time to heal. Before that, a Nemesis on rotten fields who could not locate the boon totem in the corn and survivors were losing him at the shack and in the field due to corn.
People can argue however they want but if killers start to dwindle as they play the role less then the game will suffer. This is just two boons. What happens when they introduce more? As is, they need to be toned down in some fashion.
they are fun to run though.
-
I’m playing killer a lot less than I used to. Boons just killed it for me. They’re fun on the survivor side though.

"fake pumpkins" - what did you use to fake it??
about 15 bucks and a trip to hobby lobby. 😁
seriously though, they are prefabbed fake pumpkins. I have a few stored away somewhere in my shop.

Added a couple more. These two are fake pumpkins I spray painted.

I like the concept of boons and even their power level (well, CoH at least; Shadow Step is vastly weaker for not masking survivor noises), but I wish there was a way for killers to permanently break a totem - even if that took considerably more time than snuffing it. It's fairly annoying when a totem ends up in an important tactical spot and it just turns back on every time you leave. You don't really have a viable option to deal with the perk.
Also that ringing sound feels like tinnitus and I'll often go to snuff Shadow Step even when I don't care about the perk because I need the boon to shut up. Wouldn't complain about a different sound being used.
Be nice if the killer had a visual clue instead of that sound.
-
I had the same issue but after a gen popped I was able to start moving again.

I’ve always thought the moment a flashlight clicks should cost one second of time whether it lasts the long or not. You just spam clicked that thing 14 times? 14 seconds gone.

It’s the hips. Tunnel vision.

You never get mad at something you don’t care about.

I like plague but I cannot use her for #########. I’ve seen some really strong plagues in the game though. I don’t really like playing against her but she’s a unique lady and deserves her place in the game.

Yes. I’ve thought that since Dead Dawg was introduced.

On some me killers, no regression is needed. On others, it’s a must for me. I love GF but I have to use regression with him. I love wraith, I do not need regression perks for him.

How were the tacos? :)
They were good. I dipped them in nacho cheese and a tomatillo sauce. Had a chicken quesadilla too. love the jalapeño sauce.
-
I’ve enjoyed it more than the previous couple of years. I like 2018’s the most. I wish there was a base of two event hooks and 2 event gens though.
-
ps4
1.) Playing killer.
used an event offering
cross-play on
going into the match
loading bar was fully filled
showed all four survivors disconnected after 5 minutes
personal note- sent wife for tacos
————————————-
2.) again, killer
cross play on
loading into match
ditto as 1.) exception-
drank a cup of coffee. Contemplated my navel
exited myself after wife arrived with tacos
————————————

People need to play both sides in order to understand the game a bit better. That would cut down on the amount of stupid threads and whining we have around here. I play both equally.
I don’t understand why ppl don’t play both sides more. Do they only eat peanut butter or jelly sandwiches and not peanut butter and jelly?

Odd, i can hear it, cant see it. Can only see where it should be with BBQ.
I was actually in the middle of a chase and saw the trail and broke off. Took a bit to follow it so the trail stays for a bit.
-
I got it without hooking anyone. Just look for the trail.
-
I think the killer should have the option to smash a boon totem. It would force survivors to use different areas for their blessings. Some areas are stronger than others and on smalls maps it could hell.
-
I just played on dead dawg and used circle of healing in the actual saloon. I used a healing build and holy hell. It was a bit powerful. I think the Friends who Survive together will be possibly abusing the ######### out of this.

I'd like to question what exactly, since I was born in the early 2000s. 🤔
I forget it’s 2021. Time is a bit different when you get older. I should say 30 to 40 years ago. Sorry.

What’s bugging me?
the fact that I just deleted around 5 paragraphs of what’s honestly bugging me. What it boils down to- I resent the fact that ppl in my life have made me resent being a stable, nice guy.
make good decisions kids

Twitter war would’ve meant something dirty 20 to 30 years ago.

Odd. It was certainly a more difficult match than usual. They were skilled as it was.
