The main thing is it's less likely that survivor will get out of the first attempt. And if the Trapper doesn't go for the trapped survivor then the survivor being stuck for longer than 6 attempts is unnecessary. The main improvement is that the Trapper knows the survivor will escape after the 6th attempt which allows them to better judge if it's worth dropping what they are doing for the trapped survivor.
Fair explanation. I just wish the Survivor couldn't escape on first attempt.
-
It's not useful at all. It's there to encourage Killers to hook more often. Now if you slug the hook counter makes it seem like you're not actually winning. Like what is this, just give us individual hook counters for each Survivor and be done with it.
-
Pigs will fly when Wraith doesn't need Windstorm, Trapper doesn't need a Bag, etc. Just gotta accept that's how it is :/

Undying not being a Hex perk would change nothing except give 1 extra dull totem for the aura reading.
And to your second point, you better believe my new Hex build is Ruin/Undying/TOTH/Devour Hope...
It not being a Hex perk would keep it from being destroyed before it actually protects another Hex totem. As of now it can be removed before it has any effect.
Not really a great build tbh. You're fully relying on totem RNG. Might as well use Haunted Ground instead of Undying at that point.
-
I don't see how the change was good for The Trapper. The Survivor is still able to get out on the first attempt... also now you won't get those lucky times where your trap actually holds them in place for awhile.. this feels like a nerf overall, no?
-
It's completely pointless. If they wanted to nerf Undying like this, they should've left the aura reading on Hex totems. Instead they double nerfed it and now it's a worse Thrill of the Hunt.
-
Completely agree. There is no reason for Undying to have a Hex on the field anymore. Thrill of the Hunt is now better than Undying.
-
Imo Undying should no longer be a Hex perk since it does absolutely nothing if it's cleansed first. Just have it be a regular perk that gives you 1 Hex respawn. I mean at this point, why would you not use Thrill of the Hunt instead of undying? At least that gives you a notification and actually defends your totems.
-
Take your bets folks, will it be a last minute change? Or are keys still on the backburner?
-
Anyone else feel like they made the aura reading backwards? Shouldn't it give vision on Hex totems? I don't care about dull totems as Killer, especially now that Undying doesn't bounce the Hex around.

Even AAA games like Call of Duty force console and PC players together for crossplay. And yeah it's a common complaint in the CoD community too.
Console-only crossplay isn't a thing, so you'll just have to settle for turning crossplay off.
-
Because they don't want to have to deal with a wave of people complaining once again when they turn Killer lock back on. I'm pretty sure they know Killers don't like it, but it does make sense for it to be required for a proper MMR system. Question is if/when that system will ever come to fruition.
-
It's been confirmed a change is coming, but they probably won't be telling us when the nerf will happen. They'll just randomly put it in just like the mori nerf. My bet is 6 months from now, but it will be bugged for a couple patches.
-
I have a newbie friend that loves to tbag in the exit gates. It's definitely just to gloat, but in his defense, queue times are absurdly long at his rank so really it's just to enjoy a few more seconds in-game before having to endure the lobby simulator again. Try not to take it personally.

True, there should be a solution, but complaining about it does bring it to attention more. If it's ignored, it just stays that way. Better to speak up about it than let it continue. I'd suggest maybe a mechanic that if a killer has remained in the hook vicinity for maybe 45 seconds, the survivor is able to free themselves with a BT effect to at least give them a fighting chance of escape. But beyond that, I'd have no other realistic ideas of how to combat it.
This would be abused. For example, it's endgame and the Killer has nothing to do but stick around the last hook. The Survivor just gets out for free in that scenario.
It's not like the devs don't know this problem exists. They've tried testing anti-camping mechanics before. It's just that the solutions they come up with get abused by Survivors, so they can't be implemented.
-
Any chance you're a Huntress player? Pretty unusual to see her in top 3.
-
Would be fun, but completely unbalanced. The Killer would 4k every time most likely.
-
Hillbilly. All they had to do was remove the charge time add-ons. :(
-
Is this unpopular? I feel like any Survivor worth their salt knows that not running an exhaustion perk is basically handicapping yourself.
-
The real question is what does top 1% mean. They still haven't defined a win. Max emblem score? Max bloodpoints? Escapes/Kills?
Still no details on MMR either. Whatever parameters they use are kept secret, and if they really use escapes/kills to define balance, then there's a ton of flaws with using that raw data without understanding why those escapes/kills happened. I assume DCs and hook suicides count as kills? Much of the data they've given us isn't credible because of the uncontrolled factors.
-
Reminder that Frank's Mixtape and Stab Wounds Study are absolutely worthless since the rework. Maybe Legion is average in terms of kill rate, but everything about their existence has been frustrating. The misleading trailer, the buggy release, the toxic playstyle, the underwhelming rework, the bad add-ons, the lack of updates (aside from adding new skins...)
I completely understand why some people dislike The Legion.
-
This is anecdotal, but I've played hundreds of matches where I died despite having DS. I've also played just as many matches where I survived without having it. Yes it can swing matches under the right circumstances, and I will agree that having an obsession generally improves match quality. But it is not required to survive nor does it guarantee survival.
-
Not to mention she came along with Jane. Head On is my favorite Survivor perk in a long while! What a great DLC.
-
Keep in mind this is becoming the standard nowadays. Look at Call of Duty or Gears of War just for example. $60 games that have battle passes, weapon skins, character skins, lootboxes, absurd xp grinding systems, etc. Unfortunately these things are no longer unique to free-to-play games.
-
Too many red rank Survivors, not enough red rank Killers.
-
It's pretty upsetting that they choose to monetize the game so aggressively when just the price of the game and DLCs will run you like $150.
That being said, I don't see how making the game free-to-play benefits veteran players. I've already paid the price, and it would probably increase the amount of trolls and hackers. Although I fully agree they should reduce store prices across the board and reduce the grind.
-
Freddy with Class photo is the best method imo. Hook obsession -> use teleport -> every gen plays the teleport animation -> Survivors get faked out into letting go of the gen -> Dead Man's Switch blocks multiple gens.

I don't think you should underestimate console anymore. The next-gen consoles are very powerful now. Many people say that the next-gen console DBD experience is much better than the old consoles.
That's true but most people don't have access to the new consoles yet, even if they have the money to afford one. Plus it's not like BHVR will just drop support for the older consoles. They still need to be considered when adding new content that could cause performance issues.
-
Strictly based on how often I see Survivors use it, I would say no. It's a great perk but with so many perks now in the game, it seems most people have moved on to more "exciting" options.
-
It's a great tactic to find out if the Killer respects pallets or not - which is a big deal.
In fact I refuse to drop pallets so often that I struggle to get Archive challenges done that require me to stun the Killer lol. Mindgames are key in DBD so if you wanna hang with the best of 'em, you gotta do unexpected stuff and make your opponents make mistakes.
-
Ruin/Undying is pretty bad against any decent SWF. All it takes is one guy with a map or Detective’s Hunch and you’re out 2 perks pretty quickly. They’re hardly required to win.

In general, I think way more people would complain about Hag if she would have been played more frequently. But she is also not that much fun to play IMO, since you cant chase with her.
Perfect summation in that clip. Honestly it's a shame Hag is so unpopular since that means she probably won't see any balance updates anytime soon.
-
Same here. My PC fan goes crazy when I'm playing DBD. PS4 also sounds like a jet engine while running. It's pretty annoying.
-
"Don't buy it" isn't really a fair response guys. We as individuals cannot stop the whales from buying everything under the sun no matter how expensive. But we can make our voices heard and demand more fair pricing for the average player.

I was just thinking of the way it affects stealth killers. It just seems like it's punishing to play as a stealth killer when you go against spine Chill. I do see where you're coming from though.
The way I see it, the Survivor used a perk slot that could've been spent on something more powerful. Maybe now they won't have DS or BT which have much more potential to swing games in their favor. I'm just saying I would rather face solo Survivors with Spine Chill than a SWF with all second-chance perks.
Btw if you suspect a Survivor has Spine Chill, you can turn your camera slightly to the side when approaching gens to counter it.
-
You know how Kindred is really great for solo Survivors but unnecessary in SWF? That's exactly how Spine Chill is, and everyone agrees Kindred is well-designed. Solo Survivor is hard enough, and nerfing perks that attempt to bridge the gap between solo and SWF is the opposite of what DBD needs.
Besides, there are at least a dozen more powerful perks than Spine Chill. BT, DS, Unbreakable, Andrenaline, exhaustion perks, and so on. It's really not OP in the grand scheme of things.

I think it's a core problem of DS. The DS stun gives 20 metres of distance, which a 115% Killer would need 33,33 seconds to catch back up to. In this timeframe, the Survivor covers an additional 132m distance, so if a gate is within approximately 150m and its either opened or 99ed, the Survivor is pretty much guaranteed an escape with no meaningful input from the Killer.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of scenarios where one side's input is 100% meaningless, but I know many people defend this kind of thing because they enjoy it, and I understand that, too.
I would wholeheartedly agree the addition of several limitations for DS, for example that it can't trigger after the gens are done. In it's current form, especially when paired with UB, it makes for dumb and unfun gameplay.
DS gives 16m distance. 5 second stun, but 1 second is spent in an animation getting off the Killer's back and beginning to run. So really it's only 4 seconds. Your point still stands though.
-
It goes both ways. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten grabbed jumping out of a locker with Head On when I clearly did it on time. But yeah, very frustrating.
-
Only thing I really disagree with is that Hawkin's is Survivor-sided. It's by far the easiest map to 4k on, especially with a stealth Killer.
-
The offerings were my only complaint about the Blight DLC.
- Hatch offerings: Combine with a key for ggez
- Basement offerings: Promotes basement builds (camping)
- Sacrificial Ward: Blocks a map offering but you have 0 way to tell if one will be used (gambling basically)
All of these have a chance of doing absolutely nothing. For example, you use an offering to spawn the hatch at the Killer Shack, but you get Haddonfield which has no Killer shack. Your offering did literally nothing. Just bad design across the board.
-
I just want them to make the crouch speed faster. At least Ghostface speed.
And yeah her add-ons are mostly bad, but that can be said for quite a few Killers lol.
-
I used to be like you. Back in the day I thought I HAD to run Hex: Ruin every game on every Killer if I wanted even a chance to win. Eventually I grew the balls to stop using the meta perks for a few games, and lo and behold I still did just fine. This dependence you feel is purely psychological and these perks are not actually required to win.
-
It could've just been a lucky guess. Although DBD is notorious for sound bugs.

Yes it should have some effect, although not too much. We don't want to worsen queue times for veterans. Also just because you have played a lot doesn't make you actually good. You'll have the fundamentals down, sure. But I have come across a lot of players with 1000+ hours and they still make novice mistakes.
So again, Devotion should be a factor but relatively low-weighted.
-
You absolute madman. I'm around tier 40 or so. Honestly I've mentally checked out from the constant grind, and I feel free because of it. Congratulations though! Gotta respect the dedication.
-
I think it comes down to simple math. Take one guy out asap because a 3v1 is way easier to manage. It's not necessarily a good strategy, but I do see the logic behind it.
As for toxicity, I don't take it personally when people tunnel. I mean it's a PvP game so there have to be winners and losers. To use a metaphor, sometimes you're the pigeon and other times you're the statue gettin' pooped on, y'know?
