Im trying to do the fastest vault, but when I'm holding shift to run and I press spacebar when running towards a pallet or window, it doesn't do anything. This usually results in ne having to slow vault.
Does this always happen, or only against specific killers (like Doctor, for example)?
-
Can you elaborate a little? When vaulting a window, there's 3 kinds of vaults.
The first is the slow one, which happens when you vault a window without running.
The second is the so-called medium vault, which happens when you vault a window while running, but come at it from an awkward angle.
Lastly, there's the fast vault. This appears as a proper jump over the window, and is fastest kind of vault.
So, what's actually happening to you?
-
I thought it was perfectly serviceable 🤷♀️

It’s the other way round for me. Wallace tends to get stuck a lot, and Misty gets random hits off.

Its not lost on us at all. Its just everytime we do "improve" you guys demonize it because it helps us eliminate survivors from the match in terms of powers/addons/perks but you guys find it "unfun". Killer mains shouldnt only have to rely on their ability to find survivors and using mindgames in loops. Survivors dont improve either, instead of using perks to deal with tunneling they instead complain to the devs to nerf killers for just doing their objective.
I was moreso referring to players that are actively salt farming. That probably wasn't clear from how I phrased it, mb.
That said, I'd actually say that survivors are improving. That's more or less an inevitability. It's one of the reasons why tunnelling feels 'necessary' these days.

It's less "You won't improve" as its own caution, and more "You're going to make your games harder for yourself because you're not improving but the opponents you're facing are".
The thing I'm trying to convey is that in the long term it makes the game more frustrating and difficult.
Sure, I don't disagree with that, but I have to wonder if that'll even reach the players this applies to. I suppose we wouldn't know either way, but it just kinda feels like you're preaching to the choir instead of the flock, so to speak.
-
I think the main thing is that some players that keep tunnelling do not care about improving. Some of them are actively looking for cheap wins, and don’t care that it’s cheap.
The whole ‘you’re not gonna improve’ is simply lost on them.
-
I imagine they got their hands full with the Skull Merchant rework.
-
The only thing I still think she ‘needs’ is for the roar to start after the ambush fully charges, not during.
-
I'm having trouble finding anything about this. The only things that turn up are this very thread, and a reddit thread about him being recast.
nvm it's apparently on twitter, but i'm still having trouble finding info on this controversy.

I mean that's kind off what's going with abandoning as survivor, right? Survivors can abandon when they can't win anymore. I don't understand why survivors get the option to do that while killers don't.
That's kind of stretching its purpose, though. The abandon mechanic is there to prevent unnecessary extension of matches. It's not necessarily there to dip the instant you lose. It's the players who use it like that.
Mind, I don't like how the abandon mechanic was implemented for survivors either. I'm not against it existing, but I think it appears too quickly. As the final survivor, you can dip the instant you go down. If they can just dc freely from that point, why not just have them get EGC-killed? By extension, I have to wonder why y'all were so against the original finisher mori to begin with, since it effectively does the same thing. Hell, the original finisher mori is even better here, 'cause then the killer doesn't have to bother with finding hooking the bot either. Saves us all time, no?
It's why I'm in favour of adding a timer for the survivor abandon scenario. It prevents hostage situations, like it was designed to do, whilst also still allowing killers who just want to finish the game as normal, to do so.
It seems silly to me that after years of people saying that players should grow a thicker skin when you're being t-bagged or humped, now it's suddenly the deciding factor of whether the abandon mechanic should activate. What happened there?
And, more to the point, if that's the issue, why was the finisher mori such a bad idea?

already happens right now, i rarely finish a game where a killer winning doesn't turn into the last survivor just DCing.
And you want to make it worse?

Which is literally the exact issue we have right now but for survivor. As survivor I've yet to see even a single match to its conclusion that we lost.
I think I mentioned this before, but with regards to the survivor issue I’d go with like a 30-second timer before the option becomes available, that starts when the final survivor goes down.
That way, extended slugging is not possible, whilst also not allowing the loser to just skip the conclusion.
-
I wonder if this won’t just encourage never fully finishing a trial that doesn’t end in the killer’s favour.
-
Then the only thing I can think of is that she was running the Weighted Head add-on, which inflicts incapacitated for 10 seconds when she hits you with a hatchet.
If not that, then I don’t know.

What killer was it?

So exploiting is on the same level of cheating? If that's true I'm surprised that there's this many people using exploits every time they appear
No. You can find the specifics on the Game Rules page in the Information Center on this site.
They're filed under the same category for the purposes of reporting, though.
-
The category of 'exploiting' also includes hacking. If your account has been found to be associated with cheats, your account is immediately suspended.
-
They said they were gonna give survivors a whole new item.

All these 20 year olds you're talking about are still children. They never grown up playing real horror games.
For all my issues with the property, this seems rather reductive.
-
I think this is more of an argument in support of having the survivor concede count as a loss, rather than giving the killer a dc freebie.

Not to sound dramatic, but this may unironically be the proverbial straw for me.
I just cannot be asked to relearn every rarity, and have it conflict with the basic stuff I’ve known for years.
It’s just exhausting to even think about.

I usually dont react to you, but I want to tell you that you are wrong. It is logical that they went with an OP-Killer for this Chapter. It was a Killer-only paragraph and it was quite niche compared to e.g. Dracula or Xenomorph. It was clear from the start that not everyone likes Anime. And the Devs needed some selling argument for those who are not completionists/collectors and who are not into Anime - so they created a Killer which is braindead easy for the reward it granted.
We can argue where Ghoul was on the Tier List, but he was AT LEAST at the Top of A-Tier, very likely even S-Tier, up with Blight and Nurse. And for way too less effort you have to put into him to get good results. This was solely done to boost the sales.
And if you cannot see this - sorry, you are just clueless.
Wouldn’t the ‘it’s from a niche IP’ argument be disproven by literally all original killers, though? They don’t come with associations to a property, so shouldn’t they also be overtuned to promote sales?
And your survivor argument, by that same token, shouldn’t Alan Wake have come with broken perks? Alan Wake is a fairly niche property, certainly way smaller than one of the best known manga/anime properties of the industry.
Actually, Tokyo Ghoul is simply not a niche property. The manga is one of the best-selling manga of all time. Outside of the west, the chapter was bound to be succesful, regardless of power.
-
I think it's a terminology thing, possibly an aftereffect of them wanting to do away with haste stacking.
Basically, they wanted that speed increase to always apply, so they made is basekit instead of applying it through a haste buff. The speed bonus itself shouldn't have changed.

Probably not going to happen. BHVR only made killer animations for first person view they would have to do animations for every killer for 3rd person. (Survivors see a different animations from their view)
The survivor’s perspective is third person, is it not?

no? this is from the dbd Twitter and as far as i know we're talking about killer scenario 2 and it's a loss for killer
killer scenario 1 is when all survivors are bots
Oh I was talking about one of the survivor scenarios actually. I forget which one it is, but the one that allows the survivors to abandon the match if all survivors are either dead or down, and have it count as a draw for their purpose.
Although, again, that seems inconsistent, since it is technically still a win for the killer, given that they can still just kill the bot that survivor leaves behind.
-

a draw means you stay at your mmr you don't move up or down since a win means one side goes up and the other loses mmr
…'cept, like I said in the very post you quoted, Mandy said it doesn't impact MMR.
-
@terumisan said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3920423#Comment_3920423
if a survivor disconnects it's a draw for killer so even if a killer dominates the survivors it doesn't do anything for mmr so it's a waste of time for killer tbh
It begs the question what a draw even is in this context. Mandy said it doesn't impact MMR, but beyond that a 'draw' has never been defined. So I don't think anyone knows what that even is supposed to mean.

I find the rarity changes confusing and unnecessary but ultimately that doesn't change anything gameplay wise.
I also don't have an issue with the new quests, but what I am upset about is that they're planning to remove tomes. It removes existing content from the game for no apparent reason.
The tomes aren’t gonna be removed, they’re just not doing new ones.
I think they mentioned on a stream that they’ll still be accessible through an equivalent of the compendium.
Edit: it appears i was misremembering. Rip

worst part of this if the survivor abandons mid mori the killer gets punished for it…
As I understand it, the killer still gets the win on their end, both in a conventional sense and MMR sense. They still get to kill a bot, after all. So, factually speaking, they shouldn’t be affected.
I just think it’s weird the survivor is allowed to claim a draw, when they’ve clearly lost.
-
I don’t understand why the last survivor remaining can disconnect the moment they go down, and have it count as a draw. Like, I get that you want to prevent extended slugging, but add like a 30-second timer to it or smth, cause now the last survivor can just deny an L.
-
I’m not sure that would even do anything. In some countries, the game costs a fraction of our prices. They can just buy the game in bulk there.

Think their complaint is about how the killer can camp the hatch and still get everything via surrender or forcing the survivor to out themselves via gen (which is what currently happens yes).
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/443520/end-game-killer-surrender-is-flawed
While yes, the survivor is pretty much forced to do a gen or get the killer to surrender (don't know what happens with survivors when the killer surrenders) its not an auto loss as 1. doing the gens that are away from said hatch are workable options and 2. if the killer has a brain they'll close the hatch after that first pop while you squirrel away for the door game.
Hm. I mean, I guess, but that still isn't all that different from how it played out before this. It just got a quasi-cap of 10 minutes.
-
This has little to do with the surrender mechanic, though. Killers could do this before.
Is it scummy? Sure, but again, nothing new.
