Im pr sure it was a code the devs dropped some weeks ago. Go back into their social posts and im sure you'll find the code
Are you sure about that? They never posted it on Bluesky, afaik. I also don’t remember seeing a news thread on here.
There’s every chance it’s an unreleased icon that a cheater ‘unlocked’.
-
I mean, it kinda depends on how you want to define a win.
Those survivors never actually escaped, so saying they did with an 'escaped' icon would be false. But they were never killed either, so the sacrificed icon isn't accurate either.
So, like, I'd struggle to call it a win or a loss. Moreso just the killer saying 'I cba'

I believe something getting ‘Freddied’ was already a term.
Although it moreso has to do with a killer’s power getting completely overhauled for the worse. Like with SM, and the Twins PTB.

Maybe. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

I personally don’t mind stacking per se. I’d prefer going with a cap on how fast you can go.

Honestly I'm all up for it.

I’m not going off on anyone lol. Just pointing out potential double standards that make zero sense. Nothing is wrong with AI. They don’t use a ton of energy. They are fun and useful tools. There’s nothing wrong with them at all.
You were the one saying not to use it while have zero evidence to say why not to use it. That’s all. I just wanted to stop you from misleading people and stopping people from using a fun tool. Thanks
Ok. Fine.
We don't actually know specifically how much energy generative AI uses. Because the companies behind them refuse to disclose the numbers. For now, they're not legally obliged to do so either, so they're quite hapy to leave all of us in the dark. What we do know is that some companies are considering building their own nuclear plants just to power them. That alone should tell us something about just how much power is used.
You're right about individual uses of AI, like simply asking it a yes/no question, having negligible power use. The issue becomes when individual uses turns into millions of uses ever hour, globally, which is where we're at currently. You yourself said you asked it 1000+ requests daily. Now I don't believe you do, that's absurd. All the same, I don't need a maths degree to understand that 'neglible x 1000', daily, is no longer negligible. And that's just you. There's thousands, possibly tens of thousands of people like you, who also query generative AI thousands of times. That adds up. And that's not even counting the people who only use it occassionally.
Datacenters require lots of water to cool. Now, water is a renewable source, yes, but that water needs to come from somewhere. That's water that's not going to farmers, not going to nature, not going to our taps.
There's a whole host of other issues with AI-generation too.
1: The companies behind them don't give the slightest damn about copyright. One of them quite literally stated that them being forced to pay for copyright would mean their downfall. They're stealing artwork from people who need to live off of making art, and copying it without so much as a shred of acknowledgment.
2: AI generation can, and often will, straight up lie to you. Cookbooks, medical advice, basic facts, basic mathematics (which is deeply ironic). Many statements made my AI have not only proven to be outright false, they're also actually very, very dangerous sometimes.
3: Deepfakes. Intentional, user-created lies. These aren't too relevant here, but by golly is it already becoming far better at faking images than I would ever have imagined.
4: Grok in particular is owned by a very, very dangerous and deranged man. Though I cannot talk about this further 'cause it's against forum rules. And you just… give him your money? wild
5: Overreliance on AI is actively, and quite rapidly dumbing down the people who rely on them. GBK explained this in this thread, which you didn't seem to have read.
And for the record, I do not wear brand clothing, nor will I ever. I don't care about looking good, frankly. I do own an iPhone, but it's the only apple product I own, and it's a positively ancient model that I fear might not be supported in a year or two. Once it's straight-up becoming unusable, I intend to switch to a brand that recyles their phones. The new models are outside a price range I'd consider acceptable anyhow.
I'm gonna leave it there.

Apple has children make iPhones in sweatshops that have nets around the outside of the building to catch people.
You’re being a hypocrite is all I’m saying. Human life is more important than using too much energy.
You're welcome to argue ethics with someone who actually presented arguments in this topic. You're going off on me, claiming things about me you have made up yourself.
I frankly cba.

Not using a very helpful and great technology because you don’t like the person behind it is laughable. I bet you own an IPhone, probably Nike shoes. I don’t need to tell you how those products are made. I’m sure you know and use them anyways.
This goes well beyond me ‘not liking the person behind it’, but go off.

Don’t bother. I’ll more than make up for it. I probably ask Grok 1,000+ things a day. Bought the membership and everything for unlimited chat. I just be chatting with it lol, very fun to use.
Surely this is another reason not to use it.
Not to mention the various other reasons that aren’t allowed to be discussed here.

Pretty obvious Pay to Win Chapter this time around.
You've said this in another topic, but I don't understand this. Surely BHVR would want every chapter to successful? Why should this one specifically be the one that they specifically chose to be 'pay to win'?

I think most of it comes down to them thinking of anime as a genre, rather than a medium.
The arguments I’ve seen seem to think that Shonen (and the other one starting with an H) are the only genres of anime out there. -
Suffo Pit II was fine, imo. Can’t say I had strong feelings for the other Macmillan variants tho.
The Badham variants I will certainly not miss, however.

According to Mandy, it's an experiment, so no bugs there.
But, like, that experiment has been going on for well over a month now so idk what kind of results they're looking for atp.

Its demogorgon, why is a demogorgon making ANY human-esque noises?
That I don’t know. I vaguely recall the sfx came directly from the series, but I haven’t seen it myself so i can’t confirm.
I do know there’s an sfx in there that’s also used for the rabbits in Don’t Starve. Took me a long time to get used to that. -

Its not similar though, it is clearly the same noise.
I mean, 'clearly' is a stretch. It's a human-esque noise the same pitch in as a David grunt. That is entirely possible.

I think it’s just a similar sfx. Some of its sounds come from a library so it’s just coincidence, methinks.

Interesting. Only 6% of games had a survivor DC? That seems to be much, much higher in my games. I’d say closer to 20%.
Maybe it’s a regional thing?

Considering the PS5 is a beefy console, I don’t think the performance is heavily affected regardless of your settings.
The thing with PC is that there’s no single standard to base settings on. Some PC’s can handle ‘large’ games like RE with ease, whilst others struggle with lighter games like, say, Terraria.
While my own PC can technically handle DbD on the highest settings, it tends to make my GPU run very hot, so I’d rather just keep it on medium settings.
-
I thought Head On-ing a zombie killed it.
Dunno about the knight's guards though. Never seen this interaction myself.
-
Idk I come from a time where BBQ was the only aura perk you ever saw. Hiding in lockers became pretty ubiquitous.
-
Léry’s never had breakable walls, afaik.
-
Honestly, I think the game being unavailable for over a year would outright kill it. For live-service games, downtime is killer, and that's with the game still being playable. If the game is straight-up inacessible for a good while, then you risk the bulk of your playerbase losing interest altogether.

Honestly I think BHVR devs are just overworked. Or, on the contrary, are procrastinating way too much. One or the other. The state that Houndmaster and Ghoul released in (both PTB and live, in HM's case) should simply not be acceptable for a game as successful as DBD.
Behaviour Interactive has received numerous awards for their utter lack of crunch culture.
Personally, I think it’s the result of higher-ups trying to push deadlines that are only achievable through crunch culture despite of that anti-crunch.

I’m not that big of a music nerd, but I am a sucker for waltz. Perhaps not entirely surprising, given that DS-era Professor Layton was very important to me in my formative years.

Yea, it's based on the Latin, which even most of Britain doesn't even use anymore, so that's what's even more confusing.
The 'ae' sound, which used to be the single æ character, is an /ɛ/ sound, pronounced like 'eh'. The spelling does make sense, even if it is a touch archaic.

Hey folks! Wanted to pop in here with a little Dev Update update so it doesn't get missed. We made some adjustments to the Good Guy section to clarify on the changes you'll be able to play around with on the PTB.
The quicker acceleration we originally mentioned will also apply to the start of Slice and Dice (in addition to the previously-mentioned period after the Scamper action).
Thanks for letting us know! I've updated this post with the most recent version of that section.
-
It's possible she gets one this PTB? Other killers got theirs out of the blue as well.
-
We don’t know if the killer surrendering counts as a survivor win. The 1-hour timeout applies sacrificed marks to all standing survivors, implying that they lost.
Also, just because the killer can surrender, that doesn’t mean they have to.

There are already unobtainable achievements in the game, like the one where 4 survivors escape through the hatch.
I'm not sure if depriving Cenobite mains of this one important mechanic is less painful than having 1 (one) additional unobtainable achievement.I think you’ll find that that achievement got changed as well.
There’s one that is unreasonably difficult to obtain, to be sure, but not outright impossible.
-
The simple reason is that they become unobtainable for everyone who doesn’t have the character.

I wouldn't worry too much about most licenses.
- Valve openly lets their IPs be used as long as they aren't profited on, which is why Bill is free.
- Lions Gate is very open with Saw, to the point that they were the first licensed tome, and I feel Remedy is in a similar situation with Alan Wake.
- Ash (or at least his puppet) is integrated pretty solidly into an original story, so I can't see him leaving as they would have to scrub him from three entries and still have the story make sense.
- Fun World loves Ghost Face being in DBD, and has even turned several DBD original masks into proper costumes.
- Konami clearly sees DBD as a money printer with how much Silent Hill content we got, further strengthened by another IP in Castlevania, which also got an entire tome.
- Capcom has given us TWO chapters FROM THE SAME FRANCHISE, plus they literally gave the ok for them to be in 2v8.
- Kadokawa literally considers Sadako & Yoichi's presence in DBD to be canon.
- Disney and Hasbro, scummy as they are, LOVE money, so I think Alien and Dungeons & Dragons are safe.
- BHVR has worked with Universal multiple times prior to Chucky coming in.
- Nick Cage came in both because he LOVES Sadako and also because his son plays the game (which, as much as I hate his inclusion as real people shouldn't be in games like this, is really sweet).
So that leaves us with Halloween, Leatherface, Nightmare on Elm Street, Stranger Things and Tomb Raider being up in the air. Assuming those license holders love money, I don't see most of them leaving anytime soon (except maybe Stranger Things, considering Netflix aren't the brightest bulbs out there), and Tomb Raider is too recent to really say anything about.
Pinhead was just in an odd situation, as his license was negotiated with Park Avenue right before the rights got passed back to Clive Barker, and he's now in a Jason situation where different people own different parts of him and are impossible to work with. This isn't indicative of most licenses, and there is no reason to jump the gun and immediately assume we're suddenly going to lose more licenses… again.
For the time being, I wouldn't be too concerned with the Halloween license either. He's been licensed out to various other games, so unless there's a management change I wouldn't expect them to suddenly revoke that.
The Leatherface license was rumoured to be in jeopardy around the time the TCM game released. Though I'm not sure if that's still relevant, given that we still got him.
NoeS is anyone's guess. There's nothing to go off here, afaik.
Stranger Things could leave again towards the end of the year. Out of the lot, this one's the most uncertain, I think.
Tomb Raider is indeed too recent to tell.

I’d love to know what part of the OP’s description made it easier. They used to stand in view of the hook, wait for someone to come for the unhook and hit them with a hatchet which they can now no longer do. So yeah, I’m glad because it forces them to do something else. Unless I’m misunderstanding their post?
The unhooker could hide behind the hooked survivor so they couldn't be hit by a hatchet. If hatchets now go through the hooked survivor, they will hit the unhooker. That not only damages them, but also interrupts the unhook itself, meaning that the huntress can theoretically contest any unhook attempts, so long as she has line of sight.
