It was also a great perk for anti-tunneling since it encourages you to gain the four stacks, for more points. It was the best designed perk they made in my opinion because it was useful both grind, and gameplay wise. Like you said, they should revert both.
Yes, I agree completely.
BBQ alone was the best perk they've ever designed, and there was no reason to change it. Same with WGLF, of course.

That sounds like a skill issue to me, no offense.
When a killer gets 8 hooks before a gen is completed, then something is not right. Currently there is no killer so overpowered, that this is realistic in a match with players of somewhat equal skill. Especially not Freddy. For the first 45 seconds, Freddy has nothing. Literally. He is a normal M1 killer without a power. He can't teleport and his snares / dream pallets don't work because the survivors are still awake. It takes 60 seconds until he finally has a power in chase and even then, he's not that good. Clown's counterplay works against him as well. Even better because Clown has his yellow bottles too.
If you only play killer rarely, then it's fair to assume your killer MMR is pretty low, which implies that the survivors you go against are pretty bad too. This already puts you in a favorable position because the killer gameplay is more intuitive than the survivor gameplay. We also know, that Freddy is especially hard on inexperienced survivors (the devs mentioned that, though I don't think I can find that post again), which makes sense considering that there is quite a lot to his power. A teleport, a chase power, a "stealth" mechanic and a secondary power can easily become overwhelming when you already struggle with the basics.
More than buffs, Freddy needs a rework. If not for us, then at least for @GeneralV. He has suffered enough.

Four, almost five years without my favorite killer, my friend. It has been a long journey.
And I definitely agree with your post here.

There was no issue with BBQ or WGLF having the bloodpoint bonus, in fact it made games so much more worth playing since your being rewarded more points for doing the objective. Them removing it was the most ridiculous thing they ever did.
Perhaps not the worst change we've ever seen, but hell it is a contender. Those two perks should be reverted.

I've never seen a huntress in comp, have you?
But competitive DBD is irrelevant for balancing.
It is external, not experienced by the vast majority of the community, and it doesn't really tell you anything except how a match would go with very specific playstyles and restrictions.

That was engrained in my head, watched a lot of youtube on the game back before playing and dribbling was one I defiantly remembered seeing, never understood why they did it though until I started playing. Part of me also misses old doc, and most of the pre reworked maps, and chainsaw Myers, and space Billy.
Wow thanks a lot now I realize how much I miss old DBD xD.
No problem, friend! I am always happy to talk about the Old DBD.
I miss all of it, you know. That is the game I truly wish to play. Old Freddy, Doctor, the maps, perks... wish we still had it all.

Thanks!
And I gotta say I like that movie!

Each gen can only be kicked 8 times, it isn't that hard to break a 3 gen nowadays.

I didn't like that matchmaking because I had to de-rank several times every moth because as soon as you reach purple ranks you start to get full premades and sweaty players.
I think Purple Ranks were fine. So were Reds, to be honest.
You could get sweaty players from time to time, but it wasn't the norm.

For the most part, I agree.
Some main buildings and old coldwind jungly gyms are the exception, but main buildings arent really tiles.
I think some main buildings were changed unnecessarily, but overall the regular tiles were way better in the past than they are now.
There is nothing fun about a pallet you cannot mindgame.
-
@MaTtRoSiTy said:
I get why they did it, grade or what was formerly rank means nothing anymore other than BP at what was rank reset in the past.
I kinda miss those days of rank reset but I think they are gone forever and this change makes sense I guess
The actual Rank Reset from back in the day was peak. It is the matchmaking system we should have, imho.
-
I don't think this would end well.
A killer could down someone who was just protecting the unhooked survivor and leave them slugged. That survivor who just got out of the hook is being tunneled, but their DS would be gone.
Killers like Bubba, Myers, Ghostface or any killer with an insta-down perk would be able to tunnel without even thinking about the DS. Not to mention the potential abuse with Plot Twist.
-
@Mr_K said:
I'm fine with the 5 seconds. My issue with DS was that a survivor could use it after being downed. The killer was punished for downing a survivor and the survivor rewarded for failing a chase.
That was mitigated by making only one survivor able to use it instantly and other having to wiggle a little. This was still bs because the killer was being punished for doing their role.
That was finally fixed where the survivor could only use it after being hooked. While this was a step in the right direction, they made it so a survivor was invincible for the timer. That means jumping into a locker when the killer was near and working on a gen when not.
Finally, they made it so it disables when performing an action that progress the game. This is acceptable. The perk can be tolerated.
Some bring up Enduring reducing the 5 second stun made it fine. But since that was removed it must be 3 seconds. Not everyone ran Enduring! If 5 seconds was fine then it's fine now regardless of a mitigating perk.
It is interesting how you brought up the original versions of Decisive Strike. You know how I much I love the Old DBD, and I always try to participate in every discussion about it, but I honestly don't see this perk being mentioned often.
And to think it was a very important factor when playing killer. I am pretty sure I still know the proper way to dribble a survivor to the hook.
-
Thank you, friend!
Now I'm going to try and reach P100 with either Claudette or Knight.

I think it’d be a very interesting idea to make BBQ with the double bloodpoint incentive basekit, as IIRC, they removed the incentive because they didn’t want people to feel like they had to run it and to increase build variety. Not only would this just be great QoL for killers, but also help incentivize them to leave the hook and start a chase with someone else.
Disincentivizing tunneling would also work lore wise as the entity feeds off hope, and getting hard tunneled is about the least hopeful thing as a survivor.
It is not a bad idea, my friend, but I would prefer BBQ to get reverted, instead of making the effect basekit.
After all, BBQ = one less gen regression perk.

May I ask why solving tunneling is not something on the roadmap? I know that the DS buff will help alleviate this, but I mean an actual core gameplay mechanic to solving this issue that ruins so many people''s experiences with this game. I have a buddy who really wants to get into this game to play with my friend and I, but can't get over the fact that he spends over half his time playing the game in spectator mode due to people "finding the weak link and getting them out early".
This game doesn't have a ranked or competitive mode, MMR is hidden, Prestige doesn't matter in equation to player skill, why would the number one priority not be to provide a more enjoyable player experience to both sides? Even if the answer is too much work, why make perks like DS and OTR not general perks? Why take away things like BBQ giving double bloodpoints when that was a great incentive not to tunnel? Why make conscious decisions to elevate a playstyle that is not seen as remotely fun and is also one of the easiest things to do in the game with such great payoff?
Why take away things like BBQ giving double bloodpoints when that was a great incentive not to tunnel?
Don't even remind me… :(

They really need to get away from the huge amount of clutter and get back to more open maps like MacMillan and Autohaven. DbD gameplay doesn't work very well in cluttered or indoor areas. Not sure why the design shift has happened with the maps.

If you're talking about the original iterations of those realms, then I agree.
Because the less we see of the new tiles these maps now have, the better it is.

Maybe because they wanted to make it weaker (but then they should have just reworked it, since it is only used for griefing and I would rather have a decent Perk than one which never sees play except to annoy the other side).
Or they just wanted to remove the M2-synergy to create the Add On which hides auras when downed with a Chainsaw.
Perhaps, though I don't think the original Knock Out required any changes. The original effect of just hiding auras was fine as it was, imho.

Knockout should not really work with Twins because it only applies to M1-attacks.
(Which is also a good indicator that the Perk really should get another effect because the original one is unhealthy, considering it is a Bubba-Perk which requires basic attacks for a Killer who can instadown with a Chainsaw…)

To be fair, Knock Out originally did not have the basic attack requirement, as it was originally created to work with Bubba's Chainsaw.
Not sure why it was changed.

Yeah, weird opinion, but it would involve nerfing a Killer-Perk, so I get it.
Seriously, it isa) extremely unlikely that it happens anyway that a Survivor is dead before Ruin is cleansed and
b) at this point the Killer is in a VERY good Spot and will most likely win the game. So why make it harder for the remaining Survivors when they will lose anyway?
And well, there are still really good Totem Spawns out there. But of course nobody ever talks about them. And well, there are still really good Totem Spawns out there. But of course nobody ever talks about them.
I think the bad outweighs the good on this one, at least for most players. And while Totem Spawns were never perfect, we used to have some really good ones.
I was talking about this with @Tsulan , quite a while ago. You, my friend, has been playing DBD for a long time so you probably remember some of them: hidden within the bushes on Badham, among crates on Coal Tower, some decent spots on Léry's, and so on.
But some of them don't even spawn anymore, so it is hard to use Hex perks effectively.

This one is tough.
As much as I hate to gatekeep content, I also think there should be some sort of "legacy" for those who had their characters prestiged with the old system. It was an important aspect of the game, something that weighted in your approach towards the grind and the characters you dedicated yourself to.
That doesn't go away just because the system changed.
Maybe the red backgrounds can be given as a P100 reward so that new releases can get it, but then another reward should be given for those who had their characters at P3 before the change.
-
Honestly, same. The 400% bonus at the end was really making a difference, and it will be hard to play without it.
If only we still had BBQ and WGLF… they would help a lot.
-
Ruin, the king of slowing the game down (just a little bit) should definitely make a comeback. But not the Ruin we have today, no. The old Ruin is a far better option.
Iron Will also needs a comeback. I'll never truly understand why this perk was nerfed, it wasn't needed. Iron Will was fine as it is, and I think it could use a reversion.
A Nurse's Calling is also worth mentioning, for those who remember the old days when it was still meta.
And Self-Care, of course. This perk has truly fallen from grace, ever since the healing changes around Spirit's release, but before that the perk was fine as it was.
Honorable mention: Barbecue & Chili. It hasn't truly left the meta like the others, but it definitely needs its Bloodpoint gains back. That was peak perk design, the best we've ever had.
